This venue was perfect for our recent August Wedding. The location is gorgeous overlooking the ocean in La Jolla. We used Pocket Park for our ceremony and the terrace and coast room for our reception. As such the entire ceremony and reception overlooked the beautiful view of the water, providing an excellent back drop for the events. The space was easy to work with and provided a clean palette for our coordinator and florist to work with for design. The event staff at the Museum were easy to work with and collaborated excellently with our coordinator and other vendors. The event staff was able to provide guidance on ideas, but did not dominate the planning and design process.

The surrounding area was perfect and the near-by Scripps Inn was a perfect place for the girls to get ready. In addition, the near-by Best Western provided an excellent place for many of our family and out of town guests. As such, all of our wedding events, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, hotel, wedding, and reception were all within easy walking distance for young and old. This really helped everyone relax throughout the weekend.

I highly recommend the Museum to anyone!

My fiance and I had our reception at the MOCA in la jolla and were so happy with the venue! Eric, the special events coordinator for the museum, is so nice, he gave us a friendly tour, accomodated all our special requests and made everything easy. The venue is so pretty at night, especially now with their new installation. The candles on the window ledges and the sea air in the background are magical. It is one of the few places that you can find a modern, almost edgy venue right on the beach in San Diego.

It was an absolute dream getting married at such a beautiful site. MCASD was the perfect location for what we were looking for. Our wedding was on the terrace, which made for a gorgeous backdrop of vast ocean and blue skies. It was SO beautiful! We had our reception in the Coast Room and it was perfect for our very small, very intimate wedding. Eric (MCASD's booking coordinator) and Matt (day-of-event coordinator) were awesome to work with! They made planning our wedding fun. Eric was so accommodating, very friendly and easy to work with; and Matt was incredibly attentive to ALL our needs in making sure our wedding day went perfectly. He was an awesome coordinator! I felt very comfortable in entrusting the details to him. They made a great team! Thanks MCASD for all your help in making our wedding and reception go so beautifully! ~marilou, San Diego

I got married here last month, and I can not rave enough about our experience there. Is it expensive? Yes. But does it make a beautiful, unforgettable backdrop for our perfect wedding? Absolutely.

Eric was great to work with, very helpful and flexible. There are some limitations for using this museum however. They have a list of preferred vendors for the caterers that you must choose from, but we were fortunate that they had many great options with different price levels. You also do not have a choice on liquor service. You can only use the Museum Beverage Company, which is obviously a negative because they can pretty much charge you anything they want and you will have to accept. But with that being said, the beverage company was great to work with and they provided fantastic bar service for the night.

    Definitely recommend!!

The Museum is gorgeous. However not much is provided with it. If you are looking for a one stop shop, this is not the place for you. That said, I wouldn't have done it differently. The space is wonderful, the staff is very friendly, and my guests had a great time.

The museum makes an amazing location for a wedding reception! We had our cocktail hour on the terrace overlooking the ocean and our reception in Axline Court. The main reason I rated the museum so high is the service. We worked with Eric throughout the planning process and he was incredibly easy to work with, funny and laid back. The only thing I would mention to brides thinking about having their wedding at the museum, is to be ready for the art that might be hanging during your reception. You may not know what will be on display until a week or so before the event. My husband and I wanted a nontraditional setting for our wedding so it all worked out. However, I do have two giant animotronic figures spray painting DFW in blood read letters on the wall in all of my pictures:) Definitely made for great conversation starters at the wedding!

The museum staff and event personnel were amazing. The museum is a gorgeous modern backdrop to a fantastic seaside location. Eric, the event coordinator, was great and really on top of things. The museum security staff were even awesome enough to store some things for pick-up the next day. The only downside is that the beverage service must be done through Guiseppe's. As such, they are overpriced and their coordinating staff was rude, difficult to contact during the planning process, and were even short one bar person the day of the event (luckily, our caterer was amazing and filled in the gaps). Overall, I'm still overjoyed that we chose the MCASD for our wedding but be wary of the beverage service issues.
