Among many wedding aspects, trying to figure out my wife and I's ideal ceremony was a new and foreign concept. We are so glad that we found Zia to help us discover our ceremony.
She has the experience and open mind to present options in the structure of the ceremony that gave my wife and I enough ideas to choose from and be able take it to the next step in personalizing it for ourselves.
She also gave fantastic guidance on how we could do our vows. What we ended up doing was perfect, we poured our souls into our vows, but I truly don’t know if we could have gotten there without the slight nudges and feedback that we got from Zia.
In the mix of chaos that surrounds planning a wedding, Zia gave us the calm and baseline that we didn't know we needed. -

We absolutely loved working with Zia and are thrilled to recommend her as an officiant!
We found Zia through The Knot and were looking for an Officiant near the Santa Cruz area, who provided customized, non-denominational services.
We met with her and instantly knew she was the perfect fit! She was kind, humorous, and very invested in getting to know our story and what was important to us in a ceremony.
We met with her a few times leading up to the ceremony and she helped us craft our vows, customize the ceremony, and add our love story- including our hopes and wishes for our marriage.
The day of, she was very professional and led a wonderful ceremony with the perfect blend of love, humor, and thoughtfulness that we desired. She customized the whole ceremony to us and we were fighting back tears throughout, as it was so well done.
After the ceremony, many of our guests remarked how much they liked her and loved the ceremony! They all noted that it was the best ceremony they had been to and wouldn’t forget it.
We would highly recommend Zia as an officiant. She is thoughtful, professional, and wonderful at crafting personal ceremonies.

Amazing officiant!
Zia was absolutely wonderful to work with. We met over Zoom for a few sessions, where she helped us write our team vows, and perfectly craft our ceremony. By the time we met in person for the rehearsal, it was like meeting an old friend. We had some last minute family health issues, and she rolled with the punches, and made last minute changes that seemed like a part of it forever. Multiple people asked us after the ceremony how long we had known her, and if she was a family friend, because of how well she knew us, and how great the ceremony was. (Neither my husband or I are religious, but he has a lot of Catholic family that we didn't want to offend.
If I had to describe her, she was like a woodland nymph that came out of a tree, wore an amazing blue suit, married two people in love in a perfect ceremony, took care of all the paperwork, and drifted back to the forest to continue to make people happy. 100/10 would recommend to everybody. Zia made our small Redwoods elopement feel special and guided us every step of the way - great experience
Zia provided a wonderful ceremony for us in Santa Cruz Redwoods. Everything felt special and tailored to us - and she was wonderful. During the preparations, she really got to know us which helped to put us at ease during the ceremony and all of the writing exercises we did under Zia's guidance brought us even closer together. Communication with Zia was always easy and she was flexible working with a very short timeline we provided (oops). Her care and thoughtfulness was evident in every step of the process and we are really happy we chose her as our officiant! -

Zia was so amazing for our wedding. She really knew what to do to make a memorable wedding. We had a much shorter timeframe to work with than I think she was used to but she was so amazing and patient with us. She worked with us to make sure what we felt really came through in the ceremony, and she really helped to make it special in our own way. I really appreciated her ability to keep the wedding out of cliches and her ability to connect with our guests. I would highly recommend Zia for anyone getting married in the Monterey area!! -

Memorable and Unique
Zia officiated our wedding a few months ago and we had a great experience with her. Zia's dedication to her role was immediately apparent, bringing a warmth and thoughtfulness that resonated with us from the beginning. She has a lot of experience and has her own structured program for creating the wedding ceremony and vows, which was great since we didn't really know where to start. We met with her twice via zoom to go over the ceremony and our vows. She also offered advice on obtaining a marriage license. She was always very easy to communicate with and organized. Her ceremonies have a very distinct and memorable style and we were happy that our ceremony was unique. Throughout the entire process we felt like we were in good hands and would highly recommend Zia as a wedding officiant! -

Exceptional.
When my now Wife and I were looking for an officiant we had a couple things that were important to us. 1 - being inclusive. 2 - understanding we are not traditional.
And then we met Zia.
We knew immediately we were safe in her hands and our ceremony was important. Zia worked with us in all capacities to ensure our ceremony was exactly how we wanted. Add more, take out sections, whichever.
The day of our ceremony you could feel the radiant energy that Zia is. She brought so much joy and love.

Zia was incredible to work with, from our first zoom session all the way till our wedding day. Zia made it clear that she was on our side and would be available for us as a resource when we needed her. Even though my partner and I don't follow a specific religion, Zia took our lead and made us feel so comfortable in our decisions for our ceremony. Zia officiated our wedding in March 2023 and we could have not asked for a more perfect ceremony and officiant! One of the best decisions!
I didn't realize how important a part of the ceremony our Officiant would be until we met Zia. Zia ended up being an integral part of our preparation for our big day, in the sense that she gave us a better understanding of how to approach our pledges to love to one another. Zia is nothing short of amazing! My husband and I felt connected to her when we initially met. Our family adores her and now considers her our “family officiant”. Two and a half years after she officiated our marriage, we contacted her to preside over our baby’s blessing (similar to a christening/baptism). Zia asks all the right questions to understand our vision for any occasion that requires a ceremony. Her delivery is well thought out and planned and she always prepares for the unexpected. Due to covid our wedding reception got pushed back and we did a small elopement in 2020 and then a larger celebration in 2021. One plus of having the wedding pushed back was it just gave us extra bonus time with Zia! We feel so lucky to have Zia as a partner and guide during the wedding process. Zia took the time to get to know us both so we could have a very personal ceremony in beautiful Big Sur. We had lots of meeting and follow ups so she could get to the crux of what makes us tick. She was very flexible and worked well with our photographer. Getting married in the pandemic is stressful to say the least and Zia did as much as she could to make the process seem less. Zia is wonderful. She has such a warm and welcoming presence and brings extensive thoughtfulness and care to her work. We chose to customize our ceremony with her (Option 3 in her suite of choices), and she was so great to work with - she started by asking us to share milestones and memories from our relationship with her (both individually and as a couple), and we then had several Zoom meetings to discuss her approach and the overall plan - everything from as broad as, "How do you want to feel when you're standing up there?" to as tactical as, "Who will be fluffing your dress?". She also connected us with a great notary for our marriage license. Truly, no detail was left unaddressed. She was also really receptive to our thoughts and requests, and really ended up doing a lot of customization for us.
While we had a sense of what would be covered in the ceremony, we heard it for the first time during the wedding itself, and it was perfect. Joyful, authentic, personal - it was just what we'd hoped for. So many of the photos from the ceremony are of us smiling and laughing - it felt genuinely FUN to be up there, hearing her stories about our relationship and her sharing what we each love most about each other.

A Thoughtful and Dedicated Officiant
Zia was easy to work with and a delight to have on our wedding day. She was warm and supportive throughout the process, and went above and beyond to help: from providing advice on marriage licences to giving several iterations of feedback on our personal vows. She’s the best!
Because of Covid, we decided to cancel our big wedding ceremony and elope. Last minute, Zia was able to be our officiant- we got married one month after locking her in. We met over FaceTime which was perfect and completed our planning with 2 more FT chats before our special day.
Zia is an amazing officiant- offered great advice and really listened to what we wanted in our ceremony. The personalization of our ceremony in the end made it much more meaningful than what we originally planned. Zia was respectful and overall such a great help in making everything run smoothly for our ceremony. -

We decided quite last minute to plan our Partnership celebration. Zia was the perfect choice to officiate our celebration.
She went above and beyond to customize it to suit our needs (e.g. gender neutral / inter faith / pro-women theme, giving prominence to our matriarchs (grandmothers) and parents, having our sisters be a key part of this, incorporating science, animals and other things we love, etc.) The celebration was attended by our near and dear ones from all over the world (5 continents), including the pets we love!
Zia was also like a counselor to us throughout the process. Her suggestion on the dry-run was excellent, and it helped bring our families closer.
This is a celebration we, our families and friends will always cherish! Thank you so much, Zia!

My partner and I met Zia through our venue and we enjoyed our conversations with Zia so much we decided to take a chance on doing the prepare and enrich program. The best pre-marital counseling experience anyone could ask for!

Now that we have completed the “Prepare” sequence, we are excited to stay connected with Zia and “Enrich” our marriage with additional touchpoints after our wedding.
I would highly recommend Zia to be your officiant, regardless of your spiritual or religious (or lack thereof) beliefs. She will meet you where you are and care for your relationship like it is her own. And she has a million ideas and suggestions for how to structure your ceremony and wedding day so that it feels right for you. She is full of love and positive energy and will make your special day (and the journey leading up to it) better than you could ever imagine. -

Zia + Prepare and Enrich
Prepare and Enrich: Due to covid our wedding reception got pushed back and we did a small elopement so I will write a second review in 2021! But I wanted to write a review about the Prepare and Enrich with Zia while it is still fresh in my mind since it really was so impactful. I am not going to lie, I was a little skeptical at first when we started discussing the Prepare and Enrich program. I am not a HUGE fan of talking about my feelings and it just seemed like one more thing to commit to during this busy time. But Zia recommended it with such genuine feelings with NO push or sales pitch and my fiance really wanted to do it . . .it turned out to be an AMAZING decision!
I was hooked almost immediately when we first got our couples assessment back. After doing a brief Q/A sheet separately Zia generated a couples report / assessment, and I was amazed by how detailed and accurate it was just based on some (what I thought to be random) questions. As the course went on it really helped us set aside some “us” time and date nights to really focus on both ourselves and us as a couple. Talking in detail about specific things and completing assignments that Zia gave us provided communication tools that I know we will use for the rest of our lives, both with each other and in other aspects of our lives. Plus, it really brought us closer as a couple (which I didn't know was possible). It was also clear that Zia spent a lot of time personalizing the course for us. She knew I was a little ambivalent at first and went above and beyond making it interactive and personalized to keep my short attention span interested.
I hear from a lot of people that you barely end up remembering your ceremony as it goes by so fast and I now feel like we are more prepared and we have 3 months of memories and special moments with Zia that we can always look back on.

We worked with Zia for our Labor Day weekend wedding and the ceremony turned out great! She listened to all the information that we gave her and she turned it into a beautiful and personal ceremony that went beyond our expectations. We got married on a beach towards the end of summer. I researched officiants in the area and found Zia, but also reached out to our wedding venue coordinator for recommendations and she was one of them. We took it as a sign to reach out to Zia. Our first impression of her was wonderful. She is the most warm and down to earth being. We felt that we have known her for previous lifetimes. She provided the structure we needed to plan our ceremony. Every detail was customized for us and she was able to include traditional elements from our culture. My husband and I wanted a non-traditional wedding that would be special and unforgettable and that was exactly what we accomplished with Zia. We are blessed to have Zia marry us. -

We truly enjoyed our Facetime calls with her as she took the time to get to know us and made planning from out of state so easy.
