Choosing Molly as our wedding photographer was one of the best choices we made for our wedding day. She is warm, funny, and kind, and balances top-notch professionalism with ample creativity and flexibility. Molly was extremely responsive throughout the process and produced stunning wedding photos quickly after our wedding.
We first met Molly for our early-morning waterfront engagement photo shoot, where she was able to quickly identify a number of beautiful settings for our photos. She made us feel comfortable and at ease immediately, so our photos turned out natural and genuine. She brought the same level of care and professionalism to our wedding day, working efficiently to wrangle family and guests but never making us feel rushed or over-scheduled. Her creative suggestions for our photos led to some of the most beautiful moments captured for our wedding. She knew our venue well and leveraged that knowledge to ensure we had not only the best spots for photos, but also the best lighting and time of day to shoot. And she did all of this without being intrusive or taking us “out of the moment” of our wedding day. It honestly felt more like Molly was one of our guests rather than a vendor.
We would highly recommend Molly, with zero hesitation! -

Molly was the best!
My experience with Molly for my wedding, engagement pictures, a boudoir shoot and then my sister’s wedding a year later was amazing!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Molly! From start to finish, she was an absolute dream to work with. Not only is she ***incredibly talented and artistic***, but she also has an amazing ability to capture the most special, candid moments in such a beautiful and timeless way.
In addition to her incredible work, she is one of the kindest and most professional people I’ve ever met. She made me feel so comfortable and confident throughout all of our shoots and most importantly, my entire wedding day. Molly has a great touch that allowed us to be ourselves while she worked her magic behind the lens. Every photo tells a story, and thanks to her, we have the most stunning memories to cherish forever. There is a reason that we went back to Molly a year later to photograph my sister’s wedding.

Choosing Molly as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made during our entire wedding planning process. From the very beginning, Molly was extremely communicative, responsive, and organized. She proactively reached out before our engagement shoot and again a couple of months before the wedding to ensure she fully understood our vision and that we knew exactly what to expect. I never had to wonder or worry about a thing - Molly had everything covered!
On the day of our wedding, she arrived early and went above and beyond to capture every moment, big and small. She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, offering tips on how to pose while also keeping things fun and natural. Even without a second shooter, Molly managed to photograph so much more than we could have ever anticipated. It was like she was everywhere at once, capturing every possible angle of our ceremony!
She sent us sneak peeks the very next day and the full album within a couple of months, and we were absolutely blown away by the photos. She perfectly captured our romantic, bright, and timeless vision. We’re not exaggerating when we say we’re in love with every single picture - Molly does not miss!

My husband and I found Molly Litchen Photography through our wedding planner Jessica Ashely ( Jessica Ashely Events) hired Molly to photograph our wedding day ( she also did our engagement photos). She knew exactly how to capture each intimate moment, capture the light, and made poses we wanted even better. For our bridal party & family pictures Molly already had the poses figured out so we didn't waste any time and could get back to our guests to enjoy the celebration. She did phenomenal work, was prompt, took extra photos, the quality is superb, and she got all the little details of the wedding so we wouldn't forget. Molly is a very talented photographer and I'd personally hire her for anything after seeing what she produced on our wedding day. -

Molly is simply the best! One vendor for our wedding that we put perhaps the greatest priority on was our photographer. I found Molly’s stunning photography on instagram and became a silent follower for a while. I inquired with Molly and a number of other photographers but ultimately Molly’s portfolio and style could not be topped and so perfectly captured what we were looking for. From start to finish Molly was amazing to work with—she is so incredibly sweet, professional, organized, and, of course, exceptionally talented. She took the time to get to know my then fiancé and I and that level of connection comes through in all photos. Our package included an engagement session which gave us a taste of her work and also made us feel so comfortable working with her and being in front of the camera. Frankly, the results from that session blew us away. It immediately confirmed the confidence we had in Molly and helped us feel more at ease on the wedding day.
Leading up to the wedding, Molly was on top of every detail. She created a meticulously detailed itinerary and ensured every aspect was thoughtfully planned—from the timing of events to the organization of family members and ensuring ahead of time all detail shot items were gathered. This truly made everything go off without a hitch on wedding day! Best of all, Molly captured the sweet, candid and raw emotions felt that day. Every single picture is breathtaking and full of meaning—it is truly impossible to pick favorites. We are so very grateful for Molly and how perfectly she captured our day. If you're on the hunt for THE BEST wedding photographer, you've gotta check out Molly! We looked at many wedding photographers’ websites and instagram profiles and when we came across Molly’s website we fell in love with her style and her photography… it is high-end, artsy, and had this beautiful, bright, soft lighting.
At first we signed a contract for an engagement photoshoot and after we saw our photos we were so excited that we wanted to have Molly as our wedding photographer as well.
Once we signed a contract with her, it was clear she's detail-oriented and professional. Working with her was a breeze, both before and on the wedding day – and that was a relief. I cannot imagine working with so many people on a wedding day and Molly was nothing but kind and patient and excited for all of us. I absolutely admire the way Molly can work with so many people at once and have patience and kindness for all of us.
We were so excited to see the sneak peeks the next day on Molly’s Instagram. And I believe we received the rest of the gallery after a month.
My biggest concern was to not have too many good pictures because I have a talent of blinking on all of my photos and I was so happy to see we had all photos with my eyes open! And all the pictures were so beautiful. It is so hard to pick our favorites for the album now!
Molly has many different price options and we had our contracts signed separately for the engagement photoshoot and for the wedding. But after working with Molly and having this awesome experience I think we should have selected an option with everything included. Do not have any doubts about working with Molly and I promise you this investment is so worth it! -

We were lucky enough to work with Molly for our small wedding/elopement as well as our larger reception a few months later. Both sets of photos were incredible and truly captured the different visions we had for each event, really highlighting the way that Molly is able to bring a personalized vision to life. Molly is kind, patient, incredibly talented, and perhaps most important for a wedding photographer, super organized. She was a calming presence when things were hectic and the greatest hype woman for photos.
Additionally, my wife and I are a queer interracial couple and Molly made us both look like ourselves, without washing anyone out or posing us in ways that work better for straight couples. This was highly appreciated and frankly, not easy to find in this wedding industry!
We love Molly and we know you will too. Hire her. You won't regret it. -

We hired Molly for our wedding this past August. From the beginning she was a delight to work with. Molly really made us feel comfortable during our engagement shoot to get used to be professionally photographed. During the planning process, she regularly checked in and helped create a schedule for the big day that exactly met our needs. Of course, Molly's work speaks for itself. She is an incredibly talented photographer and we could not have asked for better photographs from the big day.
Molly is also just an incredibly friendly and patient person. We hired her very early on in the process and often had life events that kept us from replying promptly to some emails Molly sent us. Molly was the first vendor we hired for our wedding, more than a year before the actual event. From the first consultation call, it was clear that she prioritizes her client's comfort and romance. Add that to her attention to detail, calming manner, and beautiful product, we knew she was the perfect match for us. We wanted to do something a little different for our engagement shoot and Molly leaned right into the vintage vibe. She provides helpful direction, positive encouragement, and a relaxing but fun atmosphere to get comfortable with your partner during the pictures. We had a whole year between that shoot and the wedding weekend, but Molly remained extremely responsive, and worked amazingly with our coordinator to make sure we were building out the best timeline for the big day. We had a two-day, multi-event wedding weekend, and Molly was punctual and calming. She partnered with all of our other vendors to help move the events along, and kept our overeager families at bay to make sure we captured everything we wanted from the pre-planned shot list. The photos themselves are exactly what we wanted: romantic, timeless, and a perfect capturing of our special day. We'll cherish them forever and hope to work with Molly to any other special moments we might have in the future! Thank you, Molly, for everything -

Beyond talented and so kind
I took the search for our photographer seriously. I interviewed eight photographers in the DMV area. I reviewed their portfolios closely, looking at full wedding albums (key to knowing their style). In the end, we chose Molly, and it was one of our best decisions. In her portfolio every person looked so good in EVERY photo and the backgrounds were framed beautifully. A great photographer knows how to make even the least photogenic shine, and that’s Molly. Our photos came out better than I could have imagined - they are magazine worthy. Even better, she was such a joy on our wedding day - professional, kind, and completely focused on making the photos perfect. Our parents and wedding party were impressed. I cannot recommend Molly enough. -

A review could never do enough justice to explain how phenomenal Molly is, based on both her portfolio and her kind-hearted nature as a human being. The second I saw Molly's work, I was completely enamored by her photos — the lighting/color, composition, and romance she captures is truly one of a kind. I looked at a lot of photographers and they couldn't capture the same emotions she could produce. The second my husband and I learned she was available for our wedding date, we booked her instantly without a second thought of exploring more photographers.
Being from the D.C. area, we wanted a beach scene for our engagement shoot. Fortunately Molly works bi-coastal in the District and in L.A., so we definitely took her up on the idea to fly out to SoCal to have our shoot, and it was as perfect as you could envision a beach shoot to be. Molly was so proactive in nailing our scene and vision down that she even researched the potential weather and sunset time of the day of our shoot to bring out the best of our images months in advance for us (and her times were right too!).
Molly was incredibly hands-on when it came our wedding. She met with us during our walkthrough to really understand our venue space and get some photography ideas flowing before the big day, and also making our venue owners big Molly fans along the way too. When it came to the planning process for our wedding, she not only sat with us as we kept revising, but gave great input and suggestions to help maximize our time and capture every shot we wanted no matter how high or low of a priority the shot was.
When it came to our vendors, the photographer was our number one priority. We've heard horror stories from our friends and colleagues on how much they didn't love their wedding photos or their photographer ended up having a completely different vision than theirs based on the final results. I even had one colleague's photographer's SD card corrupt and all of her wedding photos were lost for good. Molly gave us peace of mind and ensured us that she takes all precautions for this to never happen in her experiences.
Molly showed that being a wedding photographer is more than just picking up a camera and grabbing photos through a fancy lens. The way she captures her images not only brings out the best in her skills, but brings out the best and most genuine emotions from her couples. 10/10 would book again if we ever have any reason to — whether it be a future maternity shoot or any other life celebration — any reason to bring Molly back into our lives again, we would! -

Absolutely would book again
If you are looking for an amazing wedding photographer, look no further and book Molly! For me personally, I wanted to make sure our photos came out beautiful because your photos are what you are able to keep forever (along with your memories!). Because of that, I did budget a little more for my photographer. When looking at different photographer portfolios, Molly’s definitely stood out as being high end, artistic, with the beautiful soft bright lighting I was looking for. Her work definitely compares to photographers who are much more expensive. Once we booked her, it is very evident that she is very meticulous and detail oriented. Her professionalism is top notch and she was so easy to work with leading up to and on our big day (we had issues with some of the other vendors on our wedding day, no issue with Molly though). In the end, our photos came out so beautiful and we have a huge album now full of beautiful pictures. I think it is important to keep in mind that all photographers can deliver one good photo… but the difference between a mediocre photographer and a great one is you’ll have a handful of photos you love versus endless number photos you love. I loved so many of our photos that it was tough to edit them down and pick ones for our album. My price listed below included a large high quality wedding album and additional hours. Keep in mind, she also includes an engagement session with your package so that she can get to know you as a couple prior to the big day. Our engagement photos also came out fabulous! Highly recommend Molly, you will not be disappointed. -

Hiring Molly was one of the first decisions we made for our wedding, and truly one of the best decisions we made. She is not only talented but also incredibly patient, making 2 camera-shy people (and 1 hyper dog) feel so comfortable in front of a camera. From our engagement session to our wedding, we love looking back at all of our photos and I trust that her photography style will stand the test of time as we look back through the years. The first vendor I booked for my wedding because I was so excited to work with Molly after finding her on Instagram! During our engagement session she walked us through every pose and gave us a lot of encouragement to make us feel comfortable. Molly is an ABSOLUTE artistic pro. Now that I have captured (no photography pun intended) your attention, let me back up my claim. As you may already have perused Molly’s sample gallery on her website, her artistic work in photography is often indescribable. Her ability to capture both macro- and micro-shots is astounding. Molly’s natural appreciation of nature and beautiful venue structures will go a long way for your engagement and/or wedding photos. My wife and I had picked the Lincoln Memorial and the National Cathedral for our engagement session, a garden at a museum for our first look and pre-ceremony photoshoot, and an art museum for our ceremony and reception venue and Molly captured every aspect of what each venue had to offer as their unique attributes. The natural beauties that these venues offered us, Molly captured. What we love about Molly’s pictures (one of many things we love about her photographic talent) is that Molly doesn’t put a lot of filters or edits the heck out of what she has so beautifully captured. What we love about working with Molly is that she is available to talk or email you, if she’s not deep into editing or shooting another session, compassionate AND passionate about her product and art work, and knows exactly how to place the couple with the pose so she can get the “money shot”, every shot. She is so kind and gentle, which we also appreciated so much. When she shot our wedding, she was pregnant (HI J!) but you should’ve seen how she moved… She moves so fast because she truly cares for her work and want to provide an unforgettable experience for the couple. We highly recommend Molly and her artistic talent for your very special day because her work is actual art. We are so happy that we had Molly to have other perspectives from our special day, captured so “timelessly, romantically, and real”. -

My husband and I learned of Molly after seeing our friends incredible wedding photos. I cannot begin to properly explain how grateful we feel that we found her to photograph our special day. Her ability to not only capture our love, but package our emotions into the photos so that every time we look at our photos we feel those emotions all over again is something beyond talent. For the rest of our lives we will be able to relive that amazing day because of her and we cannot thank her enough times to express how grateful we are for that. I can't say enough good things about Molly!! She was an absolute joy to work with. At our engagement session Molly did such a great job directing us into natural poses and making us feel comfortable in front of the camera, so by the time of our wedding day we felt like we knew exactly what to do! Her communication was always prompt and incredibly detailed, and when we had to postpone our wedding Molly was so gracious and accommodating. On our wedding day, Molly struck the perfect balance of taking the lead and keeping us on schedule, while also blending seamlessly into the background and letting us enjoy special moments with friends and family. Above and Beyond!
Molly was the most valuable asset to our wedding day! Not only is she a phenomenal photographer, but she also was a sounding board for all wedding day related questions. Molly is compassionate but firm, and was able to provide support as well as direction during our engagement and wedding photos. As someone who does not consider themselves "photogenic", and tends to critique every photo I am in, hiring a photographer was a daunting task. Molly made us both so comfortable and we had so much fun during our shoots with her. She was able to capture our true personalities in every photo and every single shot was stunning! Even my father in law went out of his way to tell me (multiple times) on our wedding day how impressed he was with her work ethic and talent. When I first began wedding planning, I knew I wanted a great photographer. That was very important to me. I probably contacted 20 vendors trying to find the right one for me - and then I stumbled upon Molly’s page. Immediately I was taken aback by her style. She captures light so beautifully. She knows how to find “the shot” everywhere she goes. She had a lighter style without white washing the photographs, all the while still making the colors pop. She had high resolution photographs without any overly yellow, orange, etc filters taking away from the natural beauty of it all. Then, we FaceTimed Molly. She was sweet, professional, and seemed to have her profession down to a science. I immediately felt comfortable choosing her for my wedding. For my engagement photos, she braved an incredibly cold day with terrible winds on top of a mountain. She captured exactly the shots I was looking for. Afterwards, I had people I barely knew telling me they were the most beautiful engagement photographs they had ever seen. Throughout the entire process, Molly was incredibly responsive, and for me being a Type A attorney, that meant a lot. Molly went above and beyond and created a wedding timeline for me, which took so much stress and planning off of my plate. She is not just a photographer, she is so much more! For my wedding, we had the complete opposite weather from the engagement shoot - scorching hot! Molly braved through that too and has delivered tons of stunning shots, so much so that I have a hard time choosing my favorites. At the wedding, she had a fantastic eye of where to take photographs. Her second shooter was also a saint - incredibly down to earth and did all that she could to keep me shady and cool before the wedding. Really, I can’t say a single bad thing about Molly. If I had to do my wedding all over again, she’d be the first one I’d call! -

Molly is absolutely magical! We found Molly on Instagram and fell in love with her work at first sight. We first took our engagement pictures with her in California, she took the time to understand our styles, comfortability in front of the camera, and our vision. My husband and I don't take pictures often, but Molly helped us through the session and made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and all of our pictures turned out beautifully! Between the time of our engagement shoot and wedding day, Molly was incredibility organized, communicative, and helpful. One of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process was hiring Molly as our photographer. Molly came recommended by our venue, the Athenaeum at Caltech, and it was a weight of my shoulders to know she was well experienced with the venue and had shot many weddings there. She is a joy to work with—organized, calm, experienced—and captured the most beautiful photography that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Molly shot our intimate elopement ceremony recently, and all I can say is if you have the opportunity to have Molly shoot your wedding/event, consider yourself lucky! Amazing photos, captured by an even more amazing photographer
Where do I even start in writing this review?!
From the minute we expressed interest in using Molly Lichten Photography for our wedding, Molly immediately sprung into action. She took time in getting to know us with questionnaires and frequent communication. She was quick in learning our favorite looks, our overall intended vibe, and our best angles.
Our engagement session wholly exceeded our expectations. We were completely undecided on our location, and so Molly provided us with a thorough list of options (including photographic examples of sessions she had done at those locations previously) and we actually ended up choosing one of Molly’s suggestions! We also expressed feeling somewhat uncomfortable about being in front of a camera for the first time - Molly was sensitive to this and she provided us with very clear and direct cues to make sure our photos still turned out beautifully (even though we were so nervous).
Molly was an integral part of making sure our wedding day ran smoothy. She communicated closely with us and with our planner in the weeks/months leading up to the big day. She assisted in the development of our timeline and added in special considerations for lighting, transitions, and people needing to be present at certain times for photographs. As a person, Molly is gentle, kind, and patient - but she also knows how to be firm when needed. This worked perfectly to help calm this anxious bride but also corral her crazy group of bridesmaids.
We loved how prompt Molly was in the delivery of our photos. She understands how excited couples are to receive their photos, so Molly gave us an “Instagram sneak peek” the night of the event, as well as an extended speak peak of ~50 photos several days after. This helped to ease the wait for the entire batch to come in.
Needless to say, the photos Molly captured were perfect and beautiful. Click through her galleries and they will speak for themselves.
We have already and will continue to recommend Molly to anyone looking for classy and elegant photos captured by photographer who is passionate, extremely talented, humble, and kind.

Honestly we cannot even put into words how grateful we are for Molly. If we could do it all over again, we would choose her every single time. I won't even get started on her talent, because I think the photos speak for themselves. But thinking back to my wedding, having her by my side made all the difference. From the moment that I first met Molly back in 2016, I knew that I wanted to work with her for my wedding. She was fun, she was skilled, she had a great personality and you could tell that she loves what she does, which I find to be very important. Fast forward to January 2019 and everything that I expected of Molly for our wedding, she surpassed. She was professional yet personable, she was fun yet direct, she handled everything that happened on our day with poise and grace. Our wedding celebration was a little bit unconventional but when I spoke with Molly about it months prior she was so understanding and super on board. She scheduled a call with us 4 weeks prior to our big day to discuss our timeline and what was most important to us and I loved that! She truly took the time to learn what would make our day be amazing for us. I could go on and on and on about Molly. What I loved most though was how she helped my husband be comfortable in front of the camera. He hates pictures, hates getting dressed up, hates posing (haha) but she helped him by giving him tips in posing to make it as natural and at ease as possible. Molly was so friendly and personable with our guests that they all came up to me afterwards saying how much they loved her (no joke!) and how fun she was! This review is a little late, but we got married back in March and after sifting through a TON of vendors, we were so blessed to have found Molly and her team! Not only were the photos that she took breathtaking, but we could tell that she was genuinely excited to be a part of our big day. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met!
She was very thorough in explaining the process and what each package included, and let us know how much time she would need for each event during the wedding day. She also made us feel comfortable in front of the camera (my husband is very camera shy!) and I swear she is the best at finding the most beautiful lighting. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. The family photos came out wonderful and were done extremely fast so that we could stay on schedule. Here we are nearly 6 months later, and I still don't think we could pick out our favorite photos if we tried. She captured our special day so perfectly, and that is absolutely priceless.

At the time we were residing in San Diego, California but our wedding was taking place in Southern Maryland. Molly was able to work with us so that we could take our engagement photos in California- which was such a relief since we weren’t sure when we would be able to make it to Maryland before the wedding. Leading up to our wedding, she worked with us to plan and bring our vision to life. To start, Molly was incredibly flexible with scheduling our engagement session, which took place two days after Hurricane Matthew hit the Virginia Beach area. During the session, she coached me and my fiancé until we were comfortable in front of her camera. Molly effortlessly moved us to from pose to pose and location to location, creating a flawless final product. Even with the Hurricane swirling offshore, she managed to make the windy day look like a romantic paradise.
After working with Molly for our engagement session, I couldn’t wait to see her again at our wedding. When the big day rolled around, Molly and her second shooter were on time, professional, and so sweet to my whole family. Knowing how important it was to me, Molly worked with our wedding planner to fit a first look into the tight, day-of schedule. During the first look, she positioned me and my soon-to-be-husband for the shots, then melted into the background as we had our moment. She created magic in the minutes that followed, and each photo she took captured our excitement and love for each other. Right on schedule, she wrapped up the first look and wedding party photos as the first guests began to arrive. Throughout the ceremony and reception, Molly and her second shooter worked the room, taking in the celebration from every angle. Their photos tell the story of the day beautifully and completely.
I cannot speak highly enough of Molly, her incredible artistic talent, and her professionalism. I have and will continue to recommend her to every bride I know. In fact, my cousin booked Molly for her 2017 wedding, and my sister booked Molly for her 2018 wedding. Working with Molly has become a family affair, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. -
