DJ Mark was great! The dance floor was packed the entire time it was open, and he played songs that matched our vibe given the playlist we gave him. He also was able to take requests from either of us and get those songs out quickly. Very kind, very professional; definitely choose him to do your wedding or special event!

We got married 6 years ago today so this review is definitely late, but I remember perfectly just how wonderful Modern Symphony was. Tim and his team were incredibly warm and friendly, and made the entire process from planning to wedding day completely stress-free. We opted not to have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator, and relied heavily on the schedule we provided for DJ announcements to keep the night running smoothly - everything went off without a hitch! Modern Symphony was absolutely amazing and made our wedding day unforgettable. From the very beginning, they were professional, organized, and easy to work with, making the entire planning process stress-free.
On the wedding day, Steve was phenomenal! He read the room perfectly, keeping the energy high, and ensuring the dance floor was packed all night. The music flowed seamlessly from start to finish, and every special moment was perfectly timed. So many of our guests can’t stop talking about how much fun they had dancing the night away.

Overall the most incredible service!
Me and my husband's wedding day was the best night we’ve ever had!! Modern Symphony was super flexible with the small changes that we had here and there. Dj mark is the absolute best
I was debating on using DJ Mark at Modern Symphony or another DJ. After speaking to Mark for just minutes on the phone, it became incredibly clear he was our guy! Not only was he extremely professional, responsive and easy to work with, but he managed us having two venues in our wedding day plan with ease, our many special requests, and most importantly, absolutely crushed it keeping the energy electric on the dance floor! We absolutely loved DJ Tim and Modern Symphony!! I just got married last May and one of the biggest priority was that my music was good and my guests were dancing!! Tim absolutely delivered, and the only complaint from my guests was that we had to stop the music and the dancing due to noise ordinance (we could've gone all night!) . Tim was so kind and thoughtful throughout the process, especially during the day of, he helped us with videography, let us use his fog gun and dry ice for a private dance! The only thing I'd say was there might've been miscommunication on my planners part for the reception entrances because we wanted our bridal party to all be different intros, but Tim and his team bounced back right away and made sure that happened for us at the right times!! I was thrilled he was down for whatever vision we had and executed it perfectly!. Tim really made us feel special and heard throughout our wedding !! DJ Steve helped us during our rehearsal dinner and DJ Junior as Tim's second on the day of, they both killed it!!

We choose Modern Symphony based on an experience as a guest at another wedding we attended. We are so happy for our decision. Mark was all the things you want in a DJ-- super reliable, flexible, early, and prepared with all the equipment you could possibly need to accommodate any space. Mark read the crowd really well. What we appreciate the most about Mark was his immaculate MC skills, ensuring the night ran smoothly without any hiccups-- Mark was always prepared to coordinate mics, give directions, hype the crowd, or make important announcements that we forgot about but appreciate, like leaving messages in our audio guest book throughout the night. Mark was also able to edit songs to preference for the Father/Daughter dance, which added to the special dat. Our experience with Modern Symphony, and specifically Mark, was amazing. Tim at Modern Symphony went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was everything we dreamed of—and more.
From the very beginning, he communicated clearly and intentionally, taking the time to understand exactly how we wanted our wedding to feel. It was never just about playing music—it was about creating the perfect atmosphere for every moment of our day.
About a month before the wedding, Tim reached out to walk through all the details: playlists, special requests, must-play songs, and more. His organization and attention to detail immediately put us at ease.
What truly stood out was that Tim even attended our rehearsal to ensure that every ceremony song was timed perfectly—something we never expected, but so appreciated.

He was so friendly and easy to work with from day 1! He asked for a list of songs we’d like and the schedule for our wedding and he just ran effortlessly with that. I asked for some transitions between YouTube songs and he made it all weave together perfectly. I even asked for him to custom edit the father-daughter dance song a week before the wedding (OMG I felt horrible for that) and he did it and it sounded great. DJ Mark was so incredible to work with! From the very beginning he was easy to get ahold of, and always answered all of our questions promptly. The timeline template he provided made it extremely easy for us to pair which songs we wanted with which part of the day and made sure we didn't miss anything! We got several compliments from guests on how great the cocktail hour music was, and most importantly, our dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT. Mark made the perfect blend of some older songs in the beginning while the older crowd was still around and transitioned into more new aged songs exactly like we wanted! We LOVE Tim so much! Tim had DJ-ed two of my best friends weddings and both of those were so much fun, that it made picking a wedding DJ so so easy. He makes the whole process so simple and is a great communicator to ensure everything is prepped and set for your wedding. He is all about getting that party going and the party was poppin’ on our big day, largely due to how fun and great Tim is at setting the mood and vibe for the wedding per the bride and grooms wants and needs. He played all of our playlists, he kept the good times rolling all night long, and just added so much fun to our already exciting day. He even provided a bubble machine and Co2 machine to add that extra flair and people are still talking about those moments from our wedding. I could go on all day about how wonderful Tim is, so just do yourself and your guests a solid, if you want the party to get started, hire Tim!

DJ Mark was spectacular! One of the nicest people we’ve ever met, and so easy to work with. He knew what we were looking for and was intentional about picking the perfect songs and transitions for our special day. Crowd Pleaser
We met Mark in person before we booked, and we absolutely loved his energy, genuine personality, and professionalism right from the start. We booked him shortly after our meeting. After that it was smooth sailing and easy communication.
Mark was so much fun on our wedding day! He was independent, knew what to do, and handled it all quickly. Our guests absolutely raved about him and the music he played for our wedding. We had specific requests, including a few last minute ones the week of the wedding and he incorporated them into the wedding day with ease and understanding. He was so relaxed, it was so comforting.
He helped us communicate important details to our guests that helped make the wedding run smoothly.
We consider ourselves “into” music and sent him playlists of songs we wanted and loved and included artists and genres we favored. He made deliberate choices in the music that was perfect for us and our guests. Throughout cocktail hour and the reception, I noticed unique music choices that were definitely tailored to our recommendations.

The best Dj!!
We had the BEST experience with DJ Tim! He went above and beyond to make sure me & my fiance had a perfect wedding. He even came to our rehearsal to make sure everything would run smoothly on the wedding day since we had 3 different set up locations. A gem of a Wedding DJ
My husband and I recently had our wedding at Madonna Inn and decided to go with Tim as our DJ. From the beginning of the process Tim had been helpful. Making a Spotify playlist to organize for him was actually pretty easy and took the stress off us with planning.
On the day of Rehearsal we weren't aware that we didn't have a Coordinator to guide us. Tim swooped in and saved the day by directing us and helping us understand the order of events. He went above and beyond to help us.
The day of the wedding Tim helped keep things in order and helped supplement songs I totally spaced on. My husband and I highly recommend Tim for his patience, professionalism, and value in his work. Thank you so much!

DJ Mark is the Best
I always say that a DJ can make or break a wedding, and my wife and I could not have asked for a better DJ for our wedding than Mark. His transitions were seamless, he respected our musical choices, and there was not a single lull on our dance floor. Out of all of our vendors, he was the most communicative, respectful, and professional throughout the planning process, and was flexible with all of our needs. My wife and I attended nine weddings in 2023, and DJ Mark was far and away the most talented DJ we experienced. We are still having guests come to us and comment about how great he was and asking for his contact info. If you want your dance floor to be an absolute party, book Mark, you won’t be disappointed.

Best dj/mc for our wedding!
DJ Mark with Modern Symphonies was hands down the best we could have asked for to DJ/MC our wedding. From the planning stages, answering questions, song recommendations, getting specific song versions we wanted... to being flexible with hours when we needed him to have an earlier start time after we had already signed... he was phenomenal! Our ceremony & reception music was exactly what we had asked for, and his audio/mic set up was perfectly executed so there were no issues when it came down to having our guests being able to hear our vows, speeches, etc. ! He was friendly with guests and kept the party going all night! He made this part of the wedding process so stress free, we did not have to worry about anything other than picking our special songs. Could not recommend him and his services more! 10/10 recommend Mark!

DJ Mark did a wonderful job on our wedding day. The dance floor was packed for the entire 3 hours that it was UPenn during our wedding reception and he even made sure the slow songs had good participation. His announcements were all impeccable. A night we’ll never forget
My husband and I had the most amazing time at our wedding! We hired DJ Tim for our wedding and normally I’m not one to go out of my way to write reviews but he just blew us away. Besides the music and entertainment being phenomenal he ended up stepping up and helping with actual coordination in some aspects. His whole demeanor and presence added so much to the whole night. He made the wedding noticeably better and more relaxing. If you are wondering if he is worth the money is his. No question. 15/10. Wonderful experience!
Tim was absolutely amazing and easy to work with. He runs a family business and you can really feel the love in their work. Him and his daughter came to the rehearsal to practice which really helped this big day go very smoothly. We were not as on top of our music choices as we should have been, and Tim was quick to give great recommendations for songs for different transitions during the wedding. The day of the wedding he had at least 60% of the wedding on the dance floor!
He also did beautiful videography for us as well. The video was beautiful and something I will forever cherish. I would highly recommend Tim and his team for DJ services and videography.

My guests can’t stop talking about how my wedding was the funnest one they’ve been to. Tim kept the dance floor full ALL night long. A DJ either makes or breaks a reception, and I can say with all honesty that it’s because of Tim that my wedding turned out to be the greatest night of my life! Tim had experience with the venue, which was a major plus for us and was also affordable. He hopped on a few calls with me, my coordinator, and my photographer to review the timeline and ensure everything would run smoothly. During dinner when he saw my husband and I weren’t being served dinner, he kindly took the initiative to get us some food, which was way out of the job description but grateful appreciated! Everyone was on the dance floor the entire night! He even got us some footage and made us a reel of the dance party!!!
In all, I couldn’t be more happy with this DJ service!

Modern Symphony was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator and had the most economical package offerings out of the different DJs we looked at so we went with them. We got paired with DJ Mark and were in contact up until the wedding. He sent us a form to fill in with what songs and when to play them and absolutely nailed everything. All our guests said they were able to hear us perfectly throughout the ceremony and all song requests were taken (by our request). We had a mix of families and DJ Mark was able to seamlessly include some Mexican tunes as well as the good stuff for our white guests too which we were so thankful for. DJ Mark even let me (the bride) accomplish my dream of getting behind the turntable and scratching the record (caught on video!!). He recommended us to do the photo with all tables in one song which we hadn’t planned to do but turned out amazing and made great memories. He kept the party on track with announcements and was an awesome emcee when needed. We can’t thank him enough and recommend him enough!!!!

Mark with Modern Symphony was the best DJ/MC we could have asked for!! He was professional, he communicated with me about music before the wedding, he helped me make music decisions when I was indecisive, he came to our rehearsal to prepare and meet everyone. During the ceremony the mic was flawless (I’ve been to weddings where the mic doesn’t work well and that did not happen!). His sound system and music choices were spot-on. Added the perfect touch to our special day
Modern Symphony was highly recommended by our venue, we decided to go with them based on the numerous positive reviews, and we were paired up with Steve. Working with Steve was a breeze and he was very friendly and professional. He met with us on the day of our recital to hammer out some last minute songs we forgot about and meeting him in person went fantastically. He did a wonderful job at the ceremony and the reception. We provided him a playlist of various songs to try and get the musical theming we were going for across and he got the music vibe and expanded upon it. Steve did great song transitions that kept the mood alive and people dancing all night and even took requests from our quests. We both fussed over the music the most out of anything else for our wedding and Steve really delivered on the experience!

Best Wedding DJ
From our first interaction with Tim to the end of our wedding night, we couldn't have asked for a better DJ. Tim was great at providing feedback to us during our rehearsal about when to step out. Yes, Tim was at our rehearsal to figure out how/where to setup as well as to incorporate our song choices during the rehearsal. What a pleasant surprise - talk about going above and beyond.
With our luck, our wedding night was was the only night it rained in February in SLO and he created the perfect playlist that kept our guests dancing all night long. Our guests are still raving about how much they had fun they had, and it’s all thanks to Modern Symphony!!

Our wedding day it POURED and Tim made all the adjustments without a single complaint and even held an umbrella over his equipment which left everyone cracking up at his commitment! I truly left the evening so ecstatic with our choice to have Tim and felt like I made a friend out of working with him.

Dance Party!
Steve was great on our wedding day. One of our bridesmaid wasn’t able to attend and he was able to come up with a solution to have her dial in and her voice came through the speaker. More than I could have ever asked for!
DJ Mark was the absolute best DJ I could have ever asked for! He was so easy to communicate and listened to all my requests. He incorporated every little detail I asked for, and even the last minute requests my guests had. He smoothly transitioned from my ceremony to my cocktail hour to my reception. Truly gifted at his profession. His absolute attention to detail shows that he is truly gifted and dedicated to his career. I received SO many compliments from all of my guests telling me that they had more fun on the dance floor than they have had at any other wedding. Best wedding DJ!
We hired Tim for our 10/22/22 wedding in Santa Ynez at a private residence. Before the day, we had a couple of calls with Tim to review our wedding expectations. Tim was very friendly and responsive on the calls and helped put my mind at ease for all those little things we brides stress about leading up to the day.
During our wedding, everything Tim did went perfectly! He even made sure to fade out our first dance song after enough time had passed to get the photos, but before it got weird having us swaying there in front of all our guests (this was one of those things we talked to him about leading up to the wedding and he did an amazing job!). We had many guests comment throughout the night about what a great job the DJ was doing picking and mixing our songs. He did an excellent job of reading the vibes and made sure to pick the perfect crowd-pleasers back-to-back-to-back.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, professional, fun, and experienced DJ for your wedding, look no further than Modern Symphony!

Steve at Modern Symphony made sure our wedding was perfect. We had a challenging setup for our vendors (at the top of a hill requiring a dirt road SUV ride to get there), but Steve came out early for rehearsal the day before to make sure we all knew where and how he’d be setup for the big day.
From working together on playlists of our favorites months beforehand, to properly mic’ing a classical guitarist during the ceremony, to keeping the party going all night long with a great light setup and killer subwoofer, all while being an absolute pleasure to work with, Steve exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Steve and Modern Symphony.

The Best Dance Floor!
Tim and Mark were absolutely fantastic! I even had a last minute song change for the ceremony to surprise the groom, and Tim was able to switch it in without a problem. They were very communicative, prompt, friendly, and multiple guests said it was the best dance floor ever. DJ Mark was awesome!
It was great to have DJ Mark for our rehearsal dinner and wedding day. He asked us what music we would like to play and did a great job bringing our playlist to life. Especially on the dance floor! Mark is a great MC and got our crowd pumped and kept the night moving along smoothly.

We cannot say enough GREAT things about DJ Mark Gonzales. Out of all of the vendors we worked with for our wedding, he was the stand out. He only made our experience better and never added stress like the other vendors did. He was so kind, quick to respond, flexible, helpful, and sincerely just cared so much about making our day great for us. I will personally be recommending Mark to anyone that asks because the experience he provided was better than we could have even dreamed of!

WOW! What can I say about Tim and his team. They were absolutely amazing! They kept the party going all night. I felt very unprepared when meeting with Tim, but as soon as we sat down, he reassured us that we were in great hands. Tim knew exactly how to combine all the music genres we wanted and needed. Highly Recommend!
My husband and I finally had our post-COVID wedding ceremony on 7/10/22 and Tim Lopez was our fantastic DJ! My husband’s family mostly stems from Mexico while my family stems from rural parts of the Northwest. Tim made the perfect playlist of traditional Mexican and American wedding songs that kept both of our families on the dance floor all night (no small feat)!
Modern Symphony is great to work with – very professional and nice people.
If you're looking for a wedding DJ I highly recommend Modern Symphony!

Great music
We had our wedding back in May 2022 and we used this vendor. We got Steve and he was incredibly great to work with. He asked when our rehearsal was and showed up on time and was able to walk us through our rehearsal along with the music.
We had our ceremony and reception in two locations and they set up both. He played all the songs we loved and asked for. We had such a great time and every kept saying that the music was good and they had so much fun!

DJ Mark Understood the Assignment!
Modern symphony did such an amazing job on our big day! DJ Mark knew exactly what our crowd needed! I didn’t really give DJ Mark very much direction as far as music and he was able to read the room and knew exactly what people wanted to hear! It was an amazing time!

Mark was super responsive and helpful. We got him our music preferences so late, even when he politely followed up multiple times with us along the way, and he still managed to put a perfect mix together for our wedding. Super nice dude, very professional, and all around pleasure to work with.

Amazing MC and DJ!
DJ Mark was an amazing MC and DJ. He responded quickly to all our emails. We realized the night before the wedding we would need sound during our ceremony and he immediately assured us it was no problem and came prepared. Not only did he guide our guests from the ceremony to the reception and onto the dance floor, but he came up to our head table during dinner to see if we needed anything. Our wedding party remarked that they had never seen an MC or DJ do that at any wedding they’ve been to. The dance floor was packed all night as Mark served the tunes. It’s so important to be able to read a crowd and Mark never let the mood drop. So many of my friends have said that they were disappointed by the music at their own weddings, but I felt like I hit the jackpot with DJ Mark! All around professional and personable MC and DJ. Definitely hire him for your next event!!

Amazing DJ!!
Mark was incredible!! He exceeded our expectations. We had told him that it was important to us that everyone was on the dance floor and he did exactly that! By the first song, everyone was dancing and having a great time. There wasn't a point in the night that people weren't dancing! He played all of our favorite songs plus top hits from all decades. We would definitely hire him again!

Flexible and amazing!
This review is mainly for Steve Riconose - this is your guy. He did such an amazing job with handling our lack of experience coupled with our desire to have a fun wedding. He was very kind and asked all the right questions we didn't even know to ask. You can customize anything you want with him in any way. He actually had to set up twice which we are so thankful for because wind picked up in the middle of our ceremony and we had to move inside! He was awesome throughout and would refer him to family.

Steve was our wedding DJ - he was absolutely phenomenal. Positive, energetic, receptive to our asks around timing, playlist, lighting, speakers. The best DJ!
I remember posting on a Facebook group asking for recommendations for a local DJ for our wedding in Nipomo and receiving a large amount of recommendations. I was scrolling through the others comment recommendations and saw a comment saying “DJ Mark at Modern Symphony did our wedding and he was so nice and positive and easy to work with” instantly I knew we wanted to hire Mark based on that comment! We emailed Modern Symphony requesting Mark and right away the email came in. The email from Mark was so sweet & so thorough and helpful. Every time we emailed, he answered right away. If we wanted to add a song to the “Do Play List” he would confirm without any hesitation. During the wedding planning process, Mark would check in and was SO nice to us. He was never pushy, he was just kind and helpful and positive! Just like that comment. On our wedding day my now husband and I were just in awe at how amazing of a DJ he was. We’ve been to a handful of other wedding and my husband and I just couldn’t stop saying how thankful we were that we hired him. During the wedding day Mark would even check in with us to see if we needed anything to drink, which I thought was so nice! All the songs we wanted to be played were played and man the crowd was so happy! I have nothing but great things to say about Mark, he left an imprint on our hearts that we will remember forever. Everything went so smooth at the alter, cocktail hour, reception, dances & even the cool lighting! Thank you Mark for everything and for being THE BEST DJ, ever!

We heard great reviews from Modern Symphony and they were all true! We hired DJ Steve a week before our wedding due to complications from our other DJ. Steve was very responsive and eager to help us have a perfect day. He did a great job the day of and checked in with us frequently to make sure we were having a great time. Our family and friends cant stop raving about DJ Mark!
DJ Mark and Modern Symphony were so accommodating when we had to postpone our large celebration back in 2020 and worked with us to make our 2021 celebration special! Our family and friends haven't stopped complimenting us on the awesome music! Mark was so easy to work with and absolutely nailed the Cocktail Hour and reception music. He included all my song requests and mixed in the perfect songs to keep the dancing going the whole time! I absolutely recommend Mark and Modern Symphony if you want a party that your guests won't stop talking about!

Thank you so much Modern Symphony for making our day AMAZING! We had so many last minute changes due to it raining less than an hour before our ceremony and they went above and beyond to adapt and make everything perfect! they had great communication and completely surpassed our expectations!
