  Best Cake I've EVER Had!!!

  My wedding cake was included in my wedding package at Georgina's Banquets in Bolton, CT with the vendor being Modern Pastry in Hartford. Placing my order was super easy, as I worked with the owner, Carla. She was super accommodating with my requests and was very responsive. My cutting cake and cupcakes were beautifully done. When my husband and I cut into that cake and took our first bite, I swooned. I was floored by how GOOD this cake was. It was moist, the filling was delicious and creamy, and the frosting was out of this world. I cannot say enough good things about how amazing their cakes are!!!! Highly recommend for ANY event!

  Excellent!

  We are so glad that we chose Modern! Our bridal white cake with raspberry ricotta filling was the most perfect cake! Our guests raved about it! We can hardly wait until our one year anniversary to have our top of it! Thank you Modern!

  Delicious desserts & accommodating staff

  My husband and I got married at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club (GHCC) on Saturday 8/24/19. We selected their Premium Wedding Package (www.glastonburyhills.com/Weddings/Wedding_Packages) which includes Wedding cake provided by Modern Pastry. We were so pleased with Carla and the team over there, from cake tasting through to wedding day. We went to a cake tasting about a month and a half prior to the wedding and spent over an hour tasting different combinations of cake types and fillings. When we started shifting gears to wanting a mix of cutting cake and mini desserts, they were so accommodating. We landed on a cutting cake (~30 slices; almond cake w/ ricotta & raspberry filling) frosted ‘naked’ style and a ton of mini desserts including cream puffs, tiramisu, Italian cannolis, french cannolis w/ vanilla cream & nuts on top, NY cheesecake square, blueberry fruit tart, and 4 flavors of mini cupcakes. All included in the existing wedding package -- no extra fees or charges.
  
  When figuring out how to display everything, GHCC and Modern worked together seamlessly to plan re-plating the desserts onto white platters and then displaying them on wooden crates that I bought from JOANN Fabrics. We offered to-go containers for guests to package a few desserts up at the end of the night and almost all of the desserts went! Anything left came back to the hotel with us to enjoy as a late-night snack. Not a big deal but I wish me and/or the bakery had created small signs or place cards describing each mini dessert, particularly the mini cupcakes so guests knew what was inside. No complaints on it but a ‘nice to have’.
  
  Overall, very pleased! Since the desserts were included in the wedding package, the logistics were a breeze. We didn’t worry about payment or drop-off timing or anything along those lines. Picking the desserts and purchasing crates for display was the extent of our involvement. We received so many compliments on the cake and couldn’t be happier with how everything panned out. Thanks again to the team over at Modern Pastry Shop -- and to GHCC for offering the package!

  Such an easy & fun experience!

  My wedding cake was actually included in my wedding package with my venue. Modern was one of the bakeries I was able to choose and I'm so glad I did! We got to stop in and sample cakes, frostings, and fillings. They were so accommodating and allowed us to ask a ton of questions. I added flowers (from my florist) on to the cake and was so worried about the process. They put the cake together with the flowers, and the cake was flawless! I got so many compliments on the flavor we chose (vanilla cake with cookies and cream fillings). I would 110% recommend Modern Pastry!

  Our venue worked with three local bakeries, and from our tasting, we decided on Modern Pastry, and it was definitely the perfect choice! I went into the shop with multiple pictures, as I wanted a bit of a hodge-podge for a design, and they showed me all the items they used for decor in person, so I knew what was going on our cake. I told them I wanted the florist to decorate with fresh flowers, and they gave me the timeline to provide her right away. I emailed them a few times, and Carla responded super quickly. This was for sure one thing I didn't have to worry about in this process, and they did not disappoint! Even though we went rather plain flavors (marble cake with vanilla mousse), our guests LOVED our dessert! :) Their pastries from the store are worth the trip too!! :D NOM NOM!!

  You simply can’t beat the flavor and value at Modern. We had priced out SO many different wedding cake options, and Modern was hands down the most reasonable - but let me also say, THE MOST DELICIOUS. They brought us tons of fillings to try along with cake samples, and we decided on 2 cakes: 1 “naked” tiered cake with strawberry filling and a butter cream crumb coat, and 1 sheet cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream frosting for a total of ~160 servings. Our guests LOVED having different flavor options, and many even went back for seconds because they loved it so much! We highly recommend Modern Pastry to everyone!

Our guest are still raving about how great it tasted and how nice it looked. The process to pick out the design and flavors was very easy.   Our cake was from Modern, but it was commissioned through our caterer. The cake they made me was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted, not to mention my guests LOVED my blueberry ricotta filling - so delicious and unique! Plus the tasting was really fun. Would definitely recommend!

  As part of our deal at Maneeley's, my fiancé and I got our wedding cake and cupcakes through Modern Pastry in Hartford. Carla was a pleasure to work with and she took her time to understand what my fiancé and I wanted to complete our vision for the wedding. Not only did the cake and cupcakes look beautiful and were exactly what we wanted (they looked exactly like the Pinterest pictures I had sent in), but they tasted delicious!

  I used Modern for my cake. They did an amazing job. The cake looked stunning and they were easy to coordinate having my florist add fresh flowers. It was a three tier cake in three different flavors. Each tier was delicious.

  We cannot thank Modern Pastry enough for doing such an incredible job with our wedding cake! They were so nice and accommodating. We actually bought a crystal stand that they were nice enough to help assemble. It looked spectacular and tasted delicio0us! Would highly recommend!

  We cannot thank Modern Pastry enough for doing such an incredible job with our wedding cake! They were so nice and accommodating. We actually bought a crystal stand that they were nice enough to help assemble. It looked spectacular and tasted delicio0us! Would highly recommend!

  I got the cake included in the price when I booked my wedding with A Villa Louisa as my venue. The flavors are delicious, we got the raspberry mousse filling and it was absolutely delicious. We got a buttercream frosting which was very good, and the sugar flowers they used on the cake were breath-taking - they looked real and delicate! They were very flexible and let me make changes to the cake 3 weeks before the wedding.

But hear me out: our three-tier marble and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting looked gorgeous. So before I took a bite of it at the wedding, I was already happy. Then the bite was magical -- a balance of moist, flavorful bounciness with the tasty icing. I was shocked. We had done a tasting a couple of months before to pick out the cake, but I was still blown away. Even a few weeks after our July 23 wedding in Hartford, separate guests have asked where we got the cake. The delivery fee was extremely reasonable and it should also be noted that we were two brides and the vendor did not blink an eye.

  My daughter had her wedding 7/9/16 and our venue paid for the cake and gave us a choice of bakeries. I have to say, we are so happy that we chose Modern Pastry Shop. There were many books to choose from and they offered a tasting for my daughter and her fiance. The cake was delicious and we would highly recommend this shop. We have no complaints and they were a very professional place to work with.
