  10/10 would recommend and would have them cater another event

  Our favorite pastries came to our favorite day! Our guests that lived in Boston and our guests from out of town were so excited when they heard that Modern Pastry was doing our dessert. From start to finish, Adella and the team was joy to work with when planning the dessert. Their delivery was professional and timely. One of my favorite parts of the night was when Bill and I got to feed each other cake — chocolate peanut butter with a whipped cream frosting from the two tiered cake. We loved the accompanying cupcakes and cannolis and got to take some home to enjoy. Thank you to Modern — see you the next time with are in the North End!

  Modern Pastry is our favorite dessert place in the world, so when it came time to choose our wedding cake we knew we had to have Modern! Lea was fantastic to work with, extremely organized and helpful, and the pastries were wonderful (as always). The cake, though, was just the showstopper—it EXACTLY mirrored the inspiration photo I has given Lea and asked if they could copy! And of course it tasted delicious. Modern is a winner!

  Modern Pastry was a great bakery to work with! We live in New York City and got married in Boston, so we did not get to meet in person and did everything via email. They let us choose which options we wanted to taste and we were able to pick them up at any time on the day we were in Boston without having to wait in line.   I ordered cannoli for my wedding reception, and I had an amazing experience working with Lea and Casey at Modern Pastry. They were so responsive, helpful and were able to do everything via email (this is a big thing for me because I like to have everything written down.) The prices were great. The wedding is reception was last weekend, and I was totally confident that the cannoli would arrive on time, be gorgeous and delicious. They didn't disappoint. Thanks Lea and Casey and the whole team at Modern!

  Since my husband and I live in the North End and frequent Modern Pastry, we really liked the idea of having Modern make our wedding cake. We met with Lea to sample desserts, and she was extremely helpful and nice. We ended up choosing three desserts, one of which was a two tiered wedding cake. The desserts were a huge hit, and our guests devoured them. The chocolate peanut butter mousse cake was probably the best cake I've ever had. Modern Pastry was also a lot less expensive than all of the other dessert options we looked into. We are so happy we went with them!

  Modern pastry was one of four cake vendors we could choose from as part of our wedding package at an area hotel and we honestly expected the least since they run such a successful business outside of weddings. However, despite being the most famous of the four choices, they were also the most attentive and welcoming - we met with Leah the coordinator as well as the chef who spent an hour with us talking about his philosophy, history, and helping us narrow our decision. The cakes we chose (limoncello and bacio) were unique and delicious, and we are so glad we used modern. Highly recommend!!!

  Our cake was gorgeous and delicious!! So many people told me it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We wanted to keep all the leftovers - not just the top teir!!

  We didn't want a wedding cake, so we did a pastry table from Modern. The mini-pastries are HUGE and very well priced. They were so helpful in deciding what types to order & how much! We went for a tasting, figuring we'd have lunch in the North End afterwards, but were too full! It was a great option and our guests loved it! We ordered enough to put out to-go boxes at the end of the night so guests could take some home too. Still was 1/3rd of the cost of a cake!

  Modern Pastry was a wonderful bakery to work with for our wedding. Their cakes in general are delicious and that is why we originally chose them in the first place. Working with the cake manager, we were able to go over different styles and cake flavors, which I was able to try many different flavors. They were flexible with the timing for me to meet and truly went out of their way to make me feel comfortable with the choices and the process of how they made wedding cakes. I am so happy I chose Modern instead of some other bakeries who are not as personable. Modern Pastry is a unique vendor to Boston MA. If you're in the area and looking for a bakery for your wedding, I highly recommend them.

There were so many cookies on there, and such a variety. The presentation was really, really pretty. I know this because I saw the tray the day before my wedding.   You have to take service at Modern in stride. They are very busy and, well, it's Boston (I'm from Maine), so they're a little more abrupt down there. They don't appreciate dilly dallying and they certainly don't like to waste time bantering about what substitutions could be made, etc. Regardless, they do an outstanding job with what they do and you can trust that, if not necessarily courteous, they'll provide you with a wonderful treat.
