Nam and his team coordinated the wedding of my dreams. Due to Covid we had to cancel our initial wedding date and move it up an entire year. Not only did we move the date but we changed venues entirely and had to cut our guest list down from 160 to 100. The new venue was my parent's backyard. He made me feel at ease and communicated with all my vendors. The wedding planning was a breeze and Nam hooked me up with the best vendors and the best prices. I valued his advice so much and I gave him full artistic license on the decor and design with just a few of the ideas I initially gave him. Rosie, his assistant was incredible on the day of our wedding. I had zero stress as the bride and I was even able to sleep in, grab myself breakfast down the street from our hotel and take my time getting ready because I knew she had everything all figured out. Since the venue was now at my parent's house I was worried about all the logistics of moving all the vendors, electrical concerns, set up etc. Nam and his team TRANSFORMED my parent's backyard. It looked like an Italian villa. Seriously, do not look anywhere else, Modern LA Weddings is worth the investment and will be the best vendor you can hire for your wedding or event.

A standing ovation!

Nam and his team deserve the highest praise. Hiring Modern LA Weddings was the best investment we made in our wedding. On the day of, we had absolutely nothing to worry about. Nam and his teammate Rosie ran our rehearsal, then made sure we made it from our hotel down the aisle, and then made sure we could enjoy every aspect of our wedding. Nam understands sensitivities involving Vietnamese culture. He navigated them well and gave us great advice on how to address family members' concerns.

I wasn't super excited about my venue at first, but Nam transformed it. There was no space for a cocktail hour, so Nam created one. He transformed the front of the building, which is normally nothing more than a few parking spaces, to a cocktail hour that made people feel like they were at a Hollywood party. The vision was all his -- laying the astroturf, putting up hedges to make the event feel enclosed, and putting up wash lighting. The guests loved it and felt very special.

Also, we would have not survived our visit to all 27 guest tables without Nam! He just "gets" it and has a goal of getting you to a place where you can just enjoy the wedding. On our wedding day, he worked a 13+ hour day at the venue to make sure everything was perfect.

I would recommend Nam to any of my friends and family members. Thank you Nam and Rosie again for everything!!

Working with Nam and his team was such a stress-saver on our wedding day. We hired Modern LA Weddings for month-of and day-of coordination. In the month before the wedding, they were a tremendous help in coordinating with all the vendors, working out timing, and helping me figure out all the loose ends that I would never have thought of on my own. On the day itself, it was so nice to be able to trust that I had professionals monitoring every aspect of the wedding so that I didn't have to worry about anything. As far as I'm concerned, the wedding day went as smoothly possible and I couldn't be happier!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Nam and his team were a gift from the angels above! I was one of those busy brides who had no time to plan a wedding and needed a partner in crime who was going to know what I needed, help me make decisions and keep my wedding day stress free. Not only did I get everything I hoped for a more, I ended making a lifelong friend out of Nam. I wanted a zero drama wedding planner who understood my budget but also my specific taste and would work for me. Nam gave me all of those things. We were a holiday weekend wedding with 330+ guests in Downtown LA, with three events through the weekend. Everything was seamless! When people ask if I could have changed anything, the only things were SO MINOR that no one would have even noticed. Everything was perfect and fun. Nam was worth EVERY penny.

I had the wedding of my dreams and I never would have been able to do it without Nam Lam and the Modern LA Weddings team! Planning an LA wedding all the way from NY is not and easy task, but everything came together so beautifully. Nam is a master at vendor selection. He knows everyone and has great relationships with local vendors. Best of all, he knows exactly which vendors will mesh with your vision and your personality. Every single vendor that Nam and his team suggested was phenomenal! At one point I became overwhelmed with wedding planning and I told Nam that I trusted him and that he had free reign to bring the vision that we discussed to life. I saw a lot of the details for the first time on my wedding day and I was completely blown away. Hiring Nam was the best decision we have ever made and working with him was an absolute dream! On our wedding day we did not have to lift a finger or worry about a single detail. Everything was handled. I recommend him 100%, not only because he is great at was he does, but because he also really cares about his clients and does everything with so much passion behind it. We can't thank him and his team enough for bringing our dream wedding to life!

What if I want 10 stars? And I want them to be gold. Is there a way to give 10 gold stars? If there is, Nam will know how to do it! He was able to make all of my wishes come true. It's one thing to know what you want, which I did. It's an entirely different matter when it comes to actually bringing that vision to life, which Nam did. He went above and beyond for me, I honestly feel like he should have charged us more! I can't rave enough- Nam was the best thing that ever happened to my wedding. (Aside from my husband, of course.) He was my hero, confidant, planner extraordinaire and at the end of it all he became my friend. I couldn't have asked for anything more!!

I received day of wedding coordination services from Modern LA Weddings after firing another full service wedding planner due to its fraudulent business practice (see my review for Vivian Paire & Co.). Nam Lam was a great vendor to work with from start to finish. With just under 2 months left in our wedding planning, we had secured our venue and some of our vendors beforehand but found that we needed a lot of help with what we were missing, including a day-of coordinator. We vetted a few highly-rated planners before deciding to move forward with Nam at Modern LA Weddings. It was clear from our first conversation that Nam totally got us. He had great suggestions and connections with people/vendors that we ended up absolutely loving (especially the florist and photographers)! Day of coordination with Nam and Hovik was total perfection. As the bride, I worried about nothing and was able to enjoy the day with Hovik by my side the whole time, ready to help me with anything and to keep me and the wedding party on schedule. The design and layout of everything at the venue was exactly as discussed (and much of it turned out better than expected). After the event, everything was packed up and either moved to our cars that night or delivered to our home the next week. We had special toasting glasses engraved, and late in the evening, we thought they had gotten swept in with all the other catering glasses... but it turned out, to our surprise, that they were washed, packed and moved to the car. There were so many elements to the wedding that made it so incredibly special and we couldn't have even hoped for, if it weren't for Nam and his team. My husband and I are beyond grateful that they played such an important role in making our wedding the best day of our lives.

We hired Nam to help us plan our wedding and to be our day of coordinator. This was the best decision ever! It was such a relief not having to worry about anything especially on our wedding day and it flew by seamlessly. Worth every penny!

The best decision I ever made (other than the groom) was Hovik. I reached out to ModernLA Weddings to be my day-of coordinators and was given the gift of Hovik. Where to begin. He is calm (which is a wonderful contrast to some of the other over-the-top coordinators I interviewed), super organized, and a sweetheart. He took over the planning 3 weeks before the wedding and from that moment I seriously had nothing to worry about. He is exactly what you want in a coordinator. He works quickly and efficiently behind the scenes to put out fires, consults with you when needed, takes care of all the details (and difficult people) and goes the extra step to make sure you are happy and stress-free.

Day-of the wedding he was my rock. He kept popping in to make sure I was doing ok, to see if I needed anything, and to tell me that my husband-to-be looked so handsome :) Everything went so smoothly and beautifully, and my job was just to enjoy. My whole family loved him and overall I really believe I have made a friend for life

Fantastic coordinator, and an even better person. I cannot recommend him enough, or thank him enough for making my special day absolutely perfect.

I cannot recommend Nam highly enough. As a medical student on a time crunch, trying to plan a wedding on my own became completely and utterly overwhelming. I found Nam through verbal referral and he literally saved the day (and all the days between finding him and the big day). He helped coordinate a wedding in California for a bride in Nevada and a groom in Texas...a tall order that he handled gracefully. Always available by phone (unless he had an event-since he gives all attention during those times) and email, he was flexible with ideas and dealt with my pickiness and perfectionism fabulously. Outside of wedding design and planning, Nam is a really wonderful person...someone who is reliable and kind, and loves what he does. As for the cost of a planner, it is money so well spent! Having peace of mind is priceless!

This is a long overdue review, but it still feels like yesterday when I was speaking with Nam from Modern LA weddings regarding the details of my perfect day. Nam provided me with a 3 month wedding planning/coordination package, of which I couldn't have been more pleased with. He was so responsive to every single email/text that I sent him, no matter how late in the evening. We talked about everything little detail and during the times where I feel like my head would explode and go into full bridezilla mode, he would calm me down and reassure me that everything will go off without a hitch. He has not only been a wonderful coordinator/planner, he has been such a wonderful friend to me and my husband.
I didnt have to stress about a single thing on my wedding day and I thank him and the staff at Modern LA weddings for allowing me to enjoy every single second of my perfect day. Thanks Modern LA Weddings and thank you Nam!

Forget a 5 star rating- Nam deserves a million plus stars! Not only did I gain an extremely talented, attentive wedding planner but I truly felt like I gained a friend and confidant. I hired Nam for design- but I felt like I got so much more. You name it, Nam helped me with it or made it happen! He took my vision and magnified threefold. Our wedding was at the beautiful Los Angeles Athletic Club. Nam recommended the venue. After doing my own research of venue after venue, I finally looked into Nam's recommendation. The venue already stands on it's own (it's unique, beautiful, and perfect for what I was looking for). Our theme was modern, vintage, glam! How cool and unique does that sound?!?! Totally Nam who came up with it based on conversations with my husband and I. My husband has a very modern clean look about him, I tend to like soft vintage things, and I also (pretty random) love anything bling or sequin. Who would have thought Nam could put all the ideas together and make something super wonderful and awesome of out it. From wine bottle wedding favors, to gold succulents, to purple linens, and pomander flower arrangements, my wedding looked like a million bucks. Literally folks thought I spent tons of money. No exaggeration Nam can pull off a million dollar look with total respect to your budget. Aside from the work itself, Nam is such a genuinely nice and accommodating person. He always made himself available, he's patient and understanding, he's helpful, an active and engaged listener and really became my trusted partner during the whole wedding planning process. Let me start by saying WOW. We hired Nam about 2 weeks before our wedding. I was feeling so overwhelmed and knew I needed help. Nam and his staff were so accommodating, helpful, calming, and organized. The day of was absolutely perfect. And it was all thanks to the amazing team. I had such an amazing day and I really owe a lot to them. I highly recommend Nam if you want to enjoy your special day. I know I did. I know the saying "if you want something done right, do it yourself," but they should really have Nam do it. The wedding was at the 1909 in Topanga. It was a dream.

We actually used Nam for our son's bar mitzvah for day of coordination but he helped with so much more. He helped me find a fantastic florist and helped choose arrangements, coordinated with the caterer and with the event space, the Annenberg Beach House, He contacted all of our vendors and helped get everyone set up so I could just enjoy the day and our party. He couldn't have been more lovely and helpful.

Nam planned our wedding from start to finish. We initially hired him because of his warmth and impeccable creative eye. What we didn't realize is that he would be so flexible, patient and cheerful the whole way through the process. Nam is able to remain calm during tense situations but also take charge when things need to get done. Plus, he really went above and beyond for us. My mom passed away a couple months before I was slated to get married and I wanted to push my wedding date. Nam was totally understanding and allowed us to change our contract no problem. He just made it happen. He developed beautiful, eco concious decor for the wedding and was a great partner in helping my husband and I to have a dream wedding. We love you Nam!

Nam and the crew at Modern LA Wedding were FANTASTIC. We initially were looking for just a day-of-coordinator but we ended up signing up for a style package and also day of coordination. Immediately after the wedding, my husband and I both agreed, "There's no way we could ever have pulled that off without Nam and his staff!" Not only did they take care of everything the day of the wedding, but Nam was there for all of our major crisis leading up to the wedding. He listened to me panic numerous times, but he always stayed calmed and always offered either a solution or some insight on how to solve the problem. He went above and beyond what we contracted for and planning my wedding with him was like planning it with a great friend who knew everything about the wedding industry. Looking back, I would have signed up for the full package! Nam and his staff are absolutely phenomenal. We were able to completely enjoy our day because I knew Nam would be there to make everything go perfect - and he did.

I didn't think we'd need a wedding planner for our wedding but our venue required a day of coordinator. I was WRONG!
Nam was amazing. His preference was for "month-of-wedding coordinator" and he couldn't have been more right. He really stayed on top of all the details, creating and then editing our timeline and moving things along on our wedding day -- all without making us feel like we were on a strict schedule. Also, he came through on our last minute desire to have macaroons on our dessert table -- and our guests loved them!

My only regret is that we didn't hire him for the entire wedding planning and coordination. There are a lot of important things to decide on for your wedding but TRUST ME -- hire Nam and all those other details will fall into place.

In a nutshell: Nam is one of the best investments you can make for your wedding.

My fiance and I hired Nam initially because our venue requires a day of coordinator. After talking to Nam, he offered a one month planning package as his own preference. In the end, it was one of the best decisions we could have made.

I highly recommend him unless you're someone already with experience in wedding planning. He happened to know about details that we didn't even imagine. I also really liked that he wasn't afraid to provide guidance when we weren't sure about how to make a decision. He is very detail oriented and extremely professional. And at the end of the day, he'll have your back!

Hands down, Nam was the best money spent on our wedding! So many of our guests have told us that our wedding was the best wedding they’ve ever attended and I know it’s all because of Nam. Hiring Nam was easily the best decision we made on our wedding. He was on top of everything (and I mean EVERYTHING)! He made sure everything was on track and he did a great job contacting all of my vendors and coordinating all the details of the wedding day. Our wedding day ended without a hitch!
We had put our complete trust in Nam not just in the day-of coordination but also in the design of our entire wedding. Nam was very thorough in asking us different questions to get an understanding on the look and feel we wanted on our special day. He completely nailed it-- everything from the ceremony layout, floral arrangement, reception design, centerpieces (which we LOVED) came out PERFECT!! Not only were his designs beautiful but they were so unique and unlike anything we’ve ever seen at a wedding…it was exactly what we asked for and more! He surpassed all of our expectations and truly wowed us with an amazing wedding. He is just GOOD at what he does!
Aside from his incredible work, Nam is very detailed-oriented, diligent, professional, hilarious, and just a joy to be around. He answered all of our questions and email promptly. From time to time (and especially as it got closer to the wedding day) he would call to check-in and see if we had any questions. He offered many great ideas and suggestions to make our big day easier. Nam made the whole wedding planning process incredibly easy and stress-free. Our wedding would not have been possible without him. Thank you, Nam! We love you!!

Nam was absolutely spectacular for our New Year's Eve wedding! Although I'm not particularly knowledgeable about weddings (i.e., i'm one of those fairly clueless grooms), he always kept me involved in the process and answered all of my silly questions. We were planning the event on a bit of a tight budget (i.e., not much financial help from family), and Nam totally understood these limitations and still produced a memorable and amazing evening for us and our guests that looked and felt like a million-dollar affair. We really couldn't have asked for anything more...he was flexible with our budget, responsive to our fussy requests (and, trust me, as lawyers, we had lots of them) and maintained a calm/professional demeanor throughout that was just perfect for the big day. He really mellowed us out during the stressful moments and managed to keep a smile on his face the whole time. Nam is also total bargain, which we learned after shopping around for awhile before stumbling upon him...if we ever plan a second wedding (to each other, of course) just as an excuse to throw a big party for family and friends, we'll definitely be giving Nam a call! :)

We could not have done it without Nam and Modern LA Weddings.

Nam tirelessly put his expertise, experience, and contacts together to help us find the perfect wedding venues and vendors while coordinating our activities from 3 different cities (the bride and groom were living in different cities and the wedding was going to be a destination). He listened attentively to what we envisioned at the beginning and used that to help us develop the wedding day that we wanted - all in a whirlwind 4 months of planning.

The day of the wedding went like clockwork. Nam blended in with the guests, was on point, stayed calm and collected. He was polite to the pushiest of guests, made some of our little mishaps all seem part of the plan and smoothed over disputes as quietly as possible behind the scenes (in fact, I wasn't aware of any until afterwards). He took care of all the details so we were able to enjoy the day with all our family and friends worry-free.

Nam is my hero! Without him, there is no way I would've been able to get married... Everyone kept on asking me why I wasn't stressed out, and that was because I had Nam. He thought of everything that you would expect a planner to know, but he also went above and beyond and suggested ideas that I've never seen before. He is super flexible, organized, professional, and just an easy going guy. He actually got to know us as a couple and inserted that knowledge into the wedding so it was about us, and not just another wedding on his list. He definitely made our day special, and everyone who attended commented on how great he did and how beautiful everything looked.

Nam was great! I have worked as a marketing director for a wedding venue and in the catering department of a wedding venue for many years. I thought I would have a good handle on all the details that go into my own wedding. That was not the case. We brought in Nam because we were realizing we were in over our heads. Nam pulled everything together and then some, with not a lot of time. He brought creativity and a sense of calm to what can be a pretty crazy process (getting married). I would highly recommend him.

He was receptive to our creative vision and he took it to a whole other level. He was an absolute pleasure to work with.

He took my vision of a refined, romantic and tasteful garden wedding with a both a modern and innovative edge and he delivered 1000%! He was sensitive to our budget and managed to make our wedding seem like we spent twice as much as we actually did. Nam also has many wonderful connections to the most amazing vendors in and around the LA area and was able to help get us good deals and make realistic budget choices. Many of our guests were completely blown away with the creativity and the beauty of our wedding (thanks to Nam, of course). He has a true passion for the business and it really shows in his work.

Nam was very easy to work with and made the stressful and tiring process of planning a wedding seem like a piece a cake. He literally never missed a phone call. He was pretty much always available and made me feel as though I was his first priority. He is extremely trustworthy, responsible, honest, organized, and punctual.

As the groom, I was all about saving money and cutting costs. I really didn't think we needed a wedding planner, but I was so wrong. The crew at Modern LA Weddings were lifesavers. My wife was stress free, mainly from the fact that we knew all the little details were taken care of. And yes, the event wasn't perfect, but our wedding planners were always there to make sure we had no worries. We had a budget and Modern LA Weddings went above and beyond for a reasonable cost. Stop calling around, get a quote from them. They'll work with you. Most important, they focus on you and have very creative ideas.

Nam truly made our wedding day. We were able to relax and enjoy our guests and most importantly, one another. I don’t know if we would have been able to do that had we not had such a great team at Modern LA Weddings. I HIGHLY recommend hiring a day of coordinator if not a planner. Good thing Nam from Modern LA Wedding can do all of those things.  I have a rather large family as does my husband so we had a huge wedding party and Nam handled them beautifully. I even saw my sister give him a hug and tell him how wonderful he was at the wedding itself. Nam is a professional- he’s considerate, effective and understands weddings. Service Provided: Day of coordination

PREPARATION
Although we hired Nam for "Day of", he started helping at least one month, maybe two months beforehand. Every time I spoke or met with Nam, he was cool, calm, collected, approached everything with confidence, which for a worrying bride is very comforting.

He backed up the confidence with his professionalism. He encouraged me to send things to him as I got them as disorganized as I thought it would be for him, and sure enough he had everything organized and ready. He took initiative to introduce himself to all vendors as I booked them and had them all set up and ready to go. At my reception venue, we basically had to bring in EVERYTHING which = LOTS of vendors. He coordinated all of them and even brought all the major players in for a venue required run through meeting, which I can't imagine was easy to coordinate all of their schedules.

His presentation for the schedule and the venue required layout was very professional, detailed, and orgainzed. I think any one of the vendors could look at it and figure out what was going on for the day. There was a possibility of rain for our wedding day so he had a Plan A and B prepared and presented us with possible options, working with us until the last moments to figure out our final plan and made it happen.

WEDDING DAY
I knew it would be a very long and busy day for Nam, so I didn't expect him to come to me while I was getting ready, but of course, he did. He came in the morning to check on me and my bridesmaids with a warm and confident smile, making sure I was enjoying the WHOLE DAY, not worrying about anything. Knowing all the prepartion he had done and everything we had already gone over, it was easy to relax and let things go. He continued to check in throughout the day (our hotel and venue were across the street from each other thankfully) and his co-coordinator, Carlo stayed with us.

During the reception people kept coming to our sweetheart table to talk to us and so our eating was getting interrupted. Once we got to the entrees, he tried to deter people to try to let us eat. That didn't necessarily stop them, but I appreciated the effort! Towards the end of our reception, I had a short moment of light-headed dizziness and cold sweat (alcohol mixing?), my husband and one of my bridesmaids helped me sit and told Nam about it. Carlo was then behind me, fanning me, which actually helped me feel better!

AFTER
Nam and his team collected all of my personal items I had contributed to the decor and stored them at his office until my husband and I had a chance to pick them up.

From start to finish, Nam was an amazing coordinator and I would recommend him to my nearest and dearest. Thanks to Nam and his team, my husband and I were able to fully enjoy one of the best days of our lives!!

We hired Nam as our "day of" coordinator, but he provided far more value than that. His knowledge of typical pitfalls for weddings helped us to make plans and contingency plans, so everything went smoothly on the big day.
Nam said his job was so we wouldn't have to worry about anything on the big day, and he delivered. Everything seemed to just flow, but it was all Nam and his team making it flow.
Definitely need a day of coordinator and Nam is one of the best.

From the very start, Nam and his team made us feel comfortable and at ease with the otherwise, stressful planning process. Any couple planning their wedding knows the pressures and anxieties that come with all the preparations. Moreover, every bride also has a vision of what they picture their wedding day to be and feel like, down to the very last detail. But if you’ve never planned a wedding before, just knowing where to start becomes overwhelming.

I can't even begin to describe the job Nam and his team did on our wedding. From booking vendors and meeting with them to ensure everything is going smoothly, to working with them to guarantee they’re staying within your set budget without compromising your vision of your wedding day, to giving advice on decisions that only the bride and groom can make, to contributing creativeness for completing your vision of the big day and all within budget. I will never forget that quick moment we were given to view the reception before any guests were able to come in and recognizing that your vision has become reality. It was that moment that I felt that everything was all worth it.

The list goes on and on of all the things Nam and his team provided for us. But there is definitely one thing that they offered us that a lot of couples forget about while planning their big day…a chance to be a guest at their own wedding and the opportunity to enjoy your guests and the celebration. Any issues or questions that aroused, I knew that Nam and the team had it handled.

My husband and I live in Canada and our wedding was in San Diego CA and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! Planning a destination wedding can be a challenge and a big risk especially when the bride and groom have never been to the chosen destination and will only be getting there a week before the wedding! We were seeking an experienced, trendy yet budget friendly planner for preliminary planning and day of services. When we found Nam, the first thing that we appreciated was his friendly, realistic yet willing attitude. Right away we laid our budget on the table and he never shied away. He started working for us right away with the guarantee that if we didn't like the services after one month of dealing together (without a payment), then there would be no hard feelings and we would be free to not use his services. He was awesome about communicating with us mostly by email for the entire planning process, and he was always available and quick to respond even at 11pm at night! He checked out venues, florists, music, decor, the whole works for us. We even trusted him to do our first taste testing for our cake! He sent us pictures of the venue we chose and kept us in the loop with weekly updates. We got to San Diego a week before the wedding, where he picked up us from the airport and took us around the entire day to meet with vendors and finalize things, it was like we already knew him so well -although that was our first time meeting him in person. Everyone loved him, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the planner was and what a fantastic job he did! One of our guests even took his contact info for their "upcoming wedding" in NY. We are absolutely happy with the services we received from Modern --Nam's assistant Bern was also wonderful. Our wedding was amazing and Nam had a HUGE role in that and we are grateful! Excellent Excellent Service.

I don't know what I did to be so lucky to have Nam from Modern LA Weddings entire my life. He has been one of the most influential and incredible people I have ever met.

I was planning a Los Angeles wedding from San Francisco (where I live) and Boston (where my fiance lives). And I was planning on a budget. From the beginning, I trusted Nam's professionalism and easy-going personality to be my stand-in for every minute aspect of the wedding planning. From meeting vendors to purchasing stock paper, he listened to everything I wanted and then made it more efficient, more cost-effective and more stunning.

Nam is one of the most caring, passionate and generous people I have ever met. He always has a great big smile on his face and a million ideas in his head. When small wedding pitfalls occurred, he was there with back-up plans and alternatives. He worked with my wacky DIY ideas with a keen eye that made every aspect of the wedding tasteful and classy. As my mother-in-law said, we had a "million dollar wedding". She didn't know our budget and our work - but we did throw an elaborate party!

Nam treated me like family and I will always honor and respect his friendship for the rest of my life. He put in the same sweat and tears that we put in. He emailed me at midnight and picked me up for a flower run at 5:30 AM. Nam gave me my dream wedding and in return, I am forever indebted.

I cannot find the words to say how lucky and fortunate I am to have met Nam. He is an amazing person and I would highly recommend him to everyone!!!

I will recommend Modern LA Weddings to anyone I hear about getting married. Nam Lam was an amazing coordinator and was so friendly and easy to work with. He was always willing to meet us at vendors and he did a lot of work into finding the right vendors for us. He created a budget for us and great concept/design board so we always knew what direction we were going in for the look of our event. He has a great sense of style and created the most amazing color palate for us to work off of based on our ideas. He always listened and made sure our thoughts shown through in the final product but he was able to polish up our rough ideas and make something magical. It was really great that he was dedicated completely to us and all communications were returned promptly or by Monday if he already had a wedding that weekend. Nam took such good care of us during our wedding. The moment he landed (he flew up from LA to Sacramento), he put my mind at ease by saying, "Okay, you're done. Leave everything to me and just enjoy this amazing event in your life." I was so relieved, I shed tears of joy. Nam was extremely knowledgeable, organized and had that special touch with everyone: our families, our friends and working with the vendors. Our wedding could not have been more memorable or successful without Nam from Modern LA Weddings. As a former events professional by trade, I was thrilled when it came to time to marry the love of my life and plan the most important event ever (and most personal!) - our wedding. I had a tight budget, a lot of details, a bridal party of 10 girls and this strong desire to weave in customized experiences of friends and family. I could write a novel about Nam's true gift in his work, but here is what you need to know (from an event planner's perspective): 1. Nam understands vendor relations and negotiations which is key to cost-effectiveness without satisfying quality - across every detail of a wedding, he has this down. 2. Nam stays cool, calm, collected and committed. My venue ended up being a nightmare to deal with towards the end - I was worried, Nam and his team executed leaps and bounds out of their 'job description' to help me keep the venue on track and keep the event running without a hitch. 3. His attention to detail and ability to handle every stage of wedding planning, from concept to preparation (including wedding deliverables) and day of execution is exceptional. Work with Nam - my wedding was the best day of my life and we've had guests and family rave about that special day ever since. A big part of the success is due to Nam and his team.

I hired Nam as my Day Of Coordinator, but he did more than just providing assistance for the day. From the moment we engaged him he's been professional, flexible, and extremely helpful in getting the outstanding items done. He's reached out to our other vendors to make sure everything is on on schedule and negotiated extra things that I originally didn't have on my contract.

He is also punctual, and arrived early on the day of the wedding to oversee the set up and stayed late to take care of the break down and collected all the items that were left behind and made sure that I've gotten them.

It's been a great pleasure working with Nam and Modern LA wedding, I feel at ease when I know that things are getting done when I feel like there are a million other things I need to take care of.

Nam's pricing is very reasonable and I highly recommend hiring them!!

We had met with a few other wedding planners that were highly rated on this site and they were okay. When we met Nam we had a better feeling about him. He is more than a planner and comes from a design background; you can tell that from his website and the way he presents his wedding designs. He is personable and patient, and easy to deal with. We thought he may be too expensive but his fees were very reasonable.

We didn't have a great idea of what we wanted for our wedding, but Nam was able to create something that fit our style. He gave us a unique design that was within our budget and felt special. Ours was the first wedding that Nam had at the Bel Air Bay Club, and because of how well he handled the venue, they now recommend him for other weddings.

Because of Nam, we ended up with a much grander wedding than we could have imagined down to all the great simple details in the design. After the wedding, many of our family and friends remarked at how well they thought he did. We're happy that we found Nam, and he made our wedding a great day that we will always remember.

Nam is great! We were really lucky and won a contest he did. Little did he know, it would take us two years to actually do the deed! We originally opted for the free day-of package but soon came to our senses and hired him for partial coordination. I'm a detail oriented, organized, crafty, and *slightly* controlling bride, so I had a hard time handing over the details to him but in the end, I am so glad that I did. Nam gave us good feedback, creative ideas, put us in touch with excellent vendors, was detail oriented, and was good at putting our minds at ease. He even drove across LA several times to pick up our decorations. At the wedding he was cool, calm and collected, but still got down with the dirty work when he needed to. Our friends and family even thanked him for his great work. Not only is Nam a true professional, he is a great person and a pleasure to work with!

Nam was seriously great. He brought a calming affect that was definitely appreciated. He thought of things that I would never have and was just personable. He went out of his way impress and did it perfectly.

As the groom, I have to say that Nam's services were absolutely invaluable. He was knowledgeable, creative, flexible, and simply put in an incredible effort to help us pull off an amazing ceremony and reception. My wife had a wonderful partner to plan and execute with, and then there was me, the guy who showed up for the festivities. Actually, I was able to make some (small) contributions and that was because Nam was on top of all of it and made clear what had to be done and when. He made the day unforgettable...friends and family are still raving about the event weeks later.

We loved working with Hovik and Modern LA Weddings. We started planning our wedding during the height of wedding season so initially, he was slow to respond to us. But once we voiced our concerns, he was really on top of it. He suggested everything from no-kill succulent centerpieces and bouquets, to vendors, to general moral support. He was so amazing in finding out exactly what our tastes were so he could recommend the perfect touches. Looking back, everything was perfect, and we could have never done it on our own.

We retained Modern LA weddings for our Malibu double wedding. Nam has a very magnetic personality, very easy. We purchased the partial wedding planning and event design. The months leading up to the wedding, we had very little contact with our coordinator, Nam. Even though our contract specified the services would begin 3 months out, despite our attempts to contact Nam, at some points it would take the better part of a week before we heard from him. The month leading up to our wedding, however, our coordinator was very responsive. I'm not sure I would purchase the event design, I don't think we got much out of it. We never saw our coordinator's vision for our reception, just the ceremony. There really wasn't the back-and-forth with the actual design concept. Our florist, which we retained very late, was really the person that brought our vision to life.
The day of the wedding was very chaotic. Our coordinator did a good job given the enormity of the task. Although he had 2 assistants (and we were promise a "girl in waiting"), we never saw them. The ceremony and various parts of the day went well, in large part because of our coordinator.
In hindsight if I were to hire Nam again, I probably would only hire him for the day of coordinator.

Nam is very nice, presents a good pitch, so we hired him for day of planning. All of our phone called went well, he seemed on top of it ... but day of we were unhappy as everything was disorganized. Nam's "assistants" were not helpful, clued in, or good on their feet. Nobody took initiative. The band didn't know to play music from a pre-filled IPOD, the Candy Jars from the Candy Bar were all incorrectly labeled (sour belt labels were on the dutch mints, dutch mints labels were on the nonpareils). We purchased pashminas for the GUEST - but they were no where to be found and our guest were cold. I would recommend using another planner.

delayed communications

I hired Nam to plan my wedding however throughout the whole process he was hard to reach and communicate with. Every time he would have an excuse about why he wasn't responding to my texts. At one point I had to call him out that I hadn't heard from him for more than three weeks (18 days) and he apologized, and promised to be better.
