I'm not even sure where to start. Steve went above and beyond for us. Our original wedding date was in 2020 and we unfortunately had to postpone our wedding reception. We asked Steve for help with mic support during our 2020 micro wedding and he showed up for us without a second thought to make sure that all of our immediate family members could hear during the ceremony. Fast forward to our 2021 celebration. We had a lot of requests (from adding Ethiopian music, to having a "no play" song list and a general vibe we were going for) and Steve honored every single request. He took the time to learn our Ethiopian family member's names to ensure he had the correct pronunciation during our wedding. If that wasn't enough, he went above and beyond for the bride's family during the wedding. Unfortunately, my father was unable to attend the wedding. Steve brought a TV and took the time to set up Zoom links so that my dad was able to be there for our ceremony and reception. He set it up so that my dad could delivery his speech virtually and made sure that the sound was perfect so that it would really feel like he was there. On top of all of that, our guests could not stop talking about Steve. He had every single person on the dance floor the entire night. There was not a single dull moment and he made sure that everyone was having a good time. Steve is personable, professional, funny, and kind. He was the hit of the party and you definitely want to hire him for all of your DJ needs! He is the best there is, no doubt about it! -

We hired Merchant Productions for our wedding and were fortunate enough to work with the owner of the company, Steve (DJ Scubasteve). From initial contact to the final goodbye after the wedding, Steve was thoughtful, communicative, professional, and so much fun to work with.
Steve took the time to get to know more about us as soon as we hired him. He is a master of music, understands the mood of the event at any given moment, and can adapt on the fly to make sure that the music for the event matches what each moment calls for.
My wife and I can't recommend him, and his team at Merchant Productions, highly enough. Music was one of the highest priorities for our wedding and we (and all of our guests) were raving about the set that Steve put on. Would plan another wedding just to have him DJ and emcee again.
If you are searching for a DJ for your wedding or event, Merchant Productions is the only place that you need to look! -

Our wedding went through a bit of a transformation over our 2-year engagement. We went from one large event that had a reception mainly focused on dancing to a small, intimate ceremony followed by a separate, low-key reception where we wouldn’t have any dance floor. We had originally booked DJ Kev for our big wedding after having a wonderful interview. However, when the plans changed, DJ Scubasteve jumped in and shined. With our more stripped down plan, we now mainly needed someone to to provide the music along with running the sound during our ceremony and the intimate dinner to follow.
While we had a playlist for the ceremony, which involved some specific fades in and out (because nothing is worse than everyone awkwardly waiting for a song to play out or the song stopping suddenly in the middle of a verse), the dinner music was left a little more up-in-the-air. Despite this, I found myself sitting at the sweetheart table next to my now-husband, falling in love with every song that DJ Scubasteve played. If we had spent a month collecting songs, I don’t think we could’ve done half as good of a job. Every song felt so US! DJ Scubasteve made it so that my only regret was that we didn’t get to see him do his DJ magic full scale on a dance floor. I could only imagine how much fun we would’ve had if we had been able to experience that.
Besides the music, DJ Scubasteve continued to go above-and-beyond by saving us after a good-bye toast failed to signal the end of our wedding and even jumping in to help our wedding planner flip the room between the ceremony and dinner.
So, if you take nothing else from this review, at least take this piece of advice from a bride with a smaller event: do not assume this is a budget corner you cut by doing a playlist on your phone or by using your best man’s brother. Hire Merchant Productions! You want someone who has the skill, equipment, and love for music because it will make ALL of the difference! -

Scuba Steve was awesome!! He listened and answered any questions we had. He made sure the reception ran smoothly and the songs played were exactly what we were looking for!! Guests had so much fun on the dance floor. Highly recommend him!! -

DJ Scuba Steve went above and beyond for us! Not only did we have an unconventional request for two mixes for our first dance and the father daughter routine, but we even asked for edit after edit of the song. Steve was incredibly attentive to us, he always had time for all of our questions. The ceremony audio and music was perfect! His photobooth was a HIT! He felt more like a friend than a vendor. As a family of dancers, music was really important to us. Especially because my family is Hispanic, we had requests for Spanish music and Steve nailed it. He was so flexible and accommodating that when we asked him last minute to Rick Roll our bridal party at the reception entrance, he didn’t even skip a beat. He just did it. I cannot recommend him enough. He is the man! -

Scuba Steve is a crowd favorite in my family! My sister has always been found of Steve's DJ skills as he was the always playing great hits at the UTC games, where she cheered. When I got engaged, there was no question who we waned to DJ. As a bride currently living out of town, I was already stressed that every detail would work out but Scuba Steve eased my stress and anxiety from our first email. He let us build our must have songs and let that be a foundation to how the night would roll. He is so encouraging from booking to your wedding day. He listened to what he wanted out of our day and exceeded our expectations. He truly wants your wedding to be memorable, fun, and full of dancing. After all, life together starts with a dance. DJ Scuba Steve is our family go to and will forever be a crowd favorite with us! If he is available, book him.... You (and your guests) will not regret it! -

Steve Lyles is an excellent DJ who kept the party going even though there was a small attendance. The weather was cold and we were limited due to Covid. It was fun and the music selection was entertaining. -

Highly Recommended and I see why
In a word, DJScubaSteve and Merchant Productions are amazing. Steve was highly recommended by a family friend, and after our event, I wholeheartedly agree. A true professional, he responded quickly to all communication, and when COVID forced us to delay, he was one of the first to say “I’m in for whatever you need.” His blend of music was perfect for the event- from cocktail hour and dinner to dancing. It really set the mood for the wedding and even got people I didn’t think would dance on the floor. He even took some candid shots and sent them to us- giving a unique perspective on the wedding day! I will definitely be recommending both DJScubaSteve and Merchant Productions to friends for their birthdays, parties, and weddings. -

DJ Scuba Steve is fun, professional, and amazing. Steve edited songs and created mashups for the traditional dances, transitioned vibes from dinner to dancing perfectly, and felt like a part of the family at the end of the night. Steve played all the songs we wanted and chose so wisely. He is a joy to work with! Thanks Steve! -

DJ ScubaSteve was a God-send. We didn’t have a wedding coordinator, so he volunteered to partner with our vendors to make sure everyone knew when to walk, where to stand, etc. He helped us decide on songs since we weren’t decisive in that area, but made sure to ask if there were any songs or styles we didn’t like. He brought energy to the reception that got both sides of non-dancing families to get up and move. He even made sure to appoint people to get us a plate of food to be sure we had a chance to eat as most couples never get a chance to with the rush of the wedding day. Stop looking for a DJ and contact Merchant Productions now! -

My husband and I are over-the-moon about our experience with DJ Steve. We were so stressed about everything and after the first time meeting with him, it was like a huge weight was taken off our shoulders. Not only was the music perfect and fun but it was like having a wedding coordinator as well. His knowledge and professionalism blew me away. He helped us in so many unexpected ways. I cannot imagine how things may have gone if we didn’t have his guidance. He went above and beyond to ensure we and our guests had a perfect and amazing day. I cannot thank him enough and therefore want to sing his praises from the rooftop. The search is over. Hire Steve. He is the absolute best-of-the-best DJ I have experienced in the entirety of my existence and I’ve been to a whole lot of weddings. -

Best DJ Service Ever!!!
Steve was the DJ at our wedding. He was so easy to work with and he ran the show exactly like I asked him too. He selects great music and matches songs based on what you request. Everyone loved him and the photo booth at the wedding. At first I was hesitant about the photo booth, but it was a hit! I am so glad he consulted with me and convinced me to get the photo booth. Everything worked perfect for our special day! -

He definitely knows how to throw a party. He interacts with guests and you can tell he just loves what he does! We honestly can't thank him enough! Everyone at our wedding kept telling us how awesome he was. And I hired him after only messaging through wedding wire. He is super responsive and very reasonably priced. Jenn Sent on 07/12/2018I wish that I could tell you exactly how valuable the Merchant Productions crew was to our day but it is impossible. The entertainment and DJ services were top notch. My friends and family all still comment on how much fun they had at our Wedding! But the services that were so valuable to me were the day of coordinating services. I had a very specific vision for decorations and the wedding. Steve and his team brought that to life for me. They met us for planning sessions and executed everything to perfection from coordinating vendors to making sure the plates and place cards were put in just the right positions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

He killed it!! He’s so fun! He dances with the crowd, gets everyone pumped up, and his personality is awesome. The dance floor lighting was amazing( we did the special monogram light too). If you don’t pick Scuba Steve, I have to say you’re making a big mistake!

Melissa Sent on 10/29/2017Steve was great! Extremely accommodating with our music selection, ceremony musicians, pastor, speakers, etc. and kept the celebration going all night! He really did an excellent job, and you can tell he love what he does. That's important on the one of the biggest days of your life! He played the clean versions of music, and really had fun with our family and friends. He did embarrass my husband during the garter toss, but we all thought it was funny. LOL. Anyway, we loved Steve, and you will too! Definitely hire him for your wedding! -
