Megan officiated my elopement at Toughannock Falls and it was a beautiful ceremony. We wanted to keep it on the shorter side since we were using a public space, and Megan gave us a few options to choose from to personalize the script a bit. She also offers to add in or personalize any other parts of it you may want. It was a beautiful ceremony and she was very easy to work with! I highly recommend! -

Megan was absolutely fantastic as our wedding officiant! She took the time to understand both my love for woo-woo and symbolism and my wife's desire for a more classical and elegant ceremony. We worked together over the course of 8 weeks or so to get her all the details, but once she had everything, she crafted a ceremony that beautifully blended our individual styles. Megan seamlessly wove important quotes and personal stories into the ceremony, making it feel incredibly personal and special. From incorporating meaningful rituals to including elegant touches, she made our wedding day everything we hoped for and more. We couldn't have asked for a better officiant. Thank you, Megan!

Megan made our wedding ceremony memorable! We just wanted a very small family get-together on the lake, and she showed great flexibility and good-natured humor (our dog was the ring bearer on the boat dock!). I am not the best communicator, but Megan displayed amazing patience and professionalism in our conversations! The Perfect Ceremony
6 months later, and I'm still hearing from friends and family about how special, unique, and heartfelt our wedding ceremony was. Megan took our disjointed ideas and made a ceremony that was absolutely beautiful and so fitting for my wife and I. Megan was very timely, and reached out to us at several points before the wedding to make sure everything was in order. I was so relaxed on the day of the wedding, and I knew there was nothing to be worried about. I was able to trust Megan and simply be present and enjoy the day. -

I absolutely cannot recommend hiring Megan enough! My husband and I were lucky enough to see her officiate another wedding ahead of ours, and both immediately wanted to book her after the ceremony. We booked her for the most customized level of service, and she crafted a ceremony that was very personalized to us based on a questionnaire we filled out. Megan was extremely responsive and supportive throughout the whole process. We heard from several guests after the fact that our ceremony was so 'us'! -

Having a safe wedding during covid was/is no easy task. The safety of your guests is one more (big) wedding detail taking up your mind, but working with Megan meant that the ceremony was one part of the weekend we had no worries about. Megan is clearly a venerable and caring wedding officiant. She took the time to understand and plan with us not just the wording and logistics of the ceremony, but also the mood, feel, and context that we were trying to convey. It was amazing how after even just a couple meetings and a rehearsal we felt like our ceremony was being led by someone who knew us (and our relationship) and could convey the importance of this day to our guests. She is an outstanding public speaker who displays both authority through her experience and kindness through her patience and tone. We highly recommend her to anyone for any celebration or event. Megan was the officiant of our dreams. During our first call she took the time to get to know my husband and I. She clearly explained the options she offered and their differences. After that she sent us both a detailed questionnaire to help her craft a tailored ceremony to us. Her story-telling ability, creativity and organization was spot-on. She was super knowledgeable and I can't recommend Megan enough. She's a rock star and will make your ceremony memorable. -

Megan did a fantastic job officiating our wedding. My wife Allison and I got so many compliments from our family and friends on how personable and heartfelt the ceremony was. We loved how Megan sent us a questionnaire about our relationship a few months before the wedding and crafted the entire ceremony off of that so it was entirely about our journey as a couple. When Allison and I had to postpone our original wedding which was set for June 2020, the only vendor we lost was our officiant and after a quick search I found Megan's website and we could not be happier with our decision to have her marry us. Since we are from North Carolina, we were unable to meet Megan in person before our wedding date, but she was very responsive to emails and we also had multiple conversations over Zoom and phone calls. In the Finger Lakes there is certainly not a shortage of wedding vendors, but when it comes to booking an officiant, I would not hesitate to recommend Megan to anyone who is looking for a personalized, heartfelt and memorable wedding ceremony. -

We reached out to Megan on WeddingWire about 2 months before our wedding. Right off the bat, I could tell she wasn't just accepting all inquiries but wanted to make sure it was a good fit. She directed my then fiancé and myself to review her website which included details about her, the type of services she offered and pricing options. The next interaction was a virtual meeting via zoom. She seemed very personable and easy to talk to, confirming our decision to have her officiate our wedding.
If you're looking for someone to just recite some cookie cutter ceremony then Megan isn't the one for you. You have to put in the effort as well. This paid off big time with a beautiful ceremony which my family and my in-laws are still raving about. She had us describe what we wanted out of the ceremony, had us fill out questionnaires which she used to structure our ceremony.
The entire process was very interactive. She sent out drafts for us to review and was very open to suggestions or whatever changes we wanted to make or include in our ceremony. Wherever we had difficulties she had suggestions to help us arrive at a decision. It didn't feel like she was dictating what happened but she was very flexible in having the ceremony be what we as the couple wanted. This made the entire process stress free especially since due to the current conditions we didn't meet her in person until the day of the wedding.
I think her pricing is fair given the quality of work and the time she put in. She also gave us the option of practicing at the rehearsal on our own with a cue sheet provided, to avoid paying an extra fee to have her present the night before the wedding. It all came together beautifully! We are so happy with went with her!

Perfect and personalized, even with a pandemic
We greatly enjoyed working with Megan, who listened carefully to our ideas and then brought to life a highly personalized ceremony for us. Because of Covid, our wedding day was not what we'd envisioned -- we completely reformulated the plan and ended up having an entirely virtual ceremony. Through the uncertainty and repeated changes in plans, Megan was adaptive and committed to making the day perfect. We can't thank her enough for everything! -

Perfect officiant
We planned an elopement. Needed an officiant and found Megan. She is wonderful. Our ceremony though brief was perfect. She is flexible as we ended up changing locations and she had to travel. We chose our vows from examples she provided and they seemed as though she knew us and that were written just for us. Megan is warm, friendly and brought warmth and caring to our ceremony.

Megan created a beautiful ceremony and she allowed us to be part of the editing process during its creation. She took the time via phone calls and questionnaires to get to know us as a couple even though we could not meet in person ahead of time. She was even able to craft a bilingual ceremony as my husband's family speaks Spanish. She really did an excellent job at portraying our love story to our friends and family. She also added special moments into the ceremony to make it very personal to us as a couple. We had so many people come up to us after the ceremony and comment on what a beautiful job Megan did. She genuinely cared and made our ceremony something we will never forget. We highly recommend Megan Barber as a wedding officiant! -

Megan was so good! Everyone at or wedding kept saying how wonderful she was and how much they liked our ceremony. Megan did a beautiful job writing and performing our ceremony. We felt like we were in good hands from beginning to end. She helped us to incorporate a tree planting into our ceremony as requested. She took time to learn about each of us individually and as a couple and how we grew together that lead to us getting married. My mother had a personalized reading she did as well, Megan worked with her directly to work it in. We had multiple friends and family come up to us afterwards and ask where we found Megan, how perfect she was for the ceremony and how she was able to create such a personalized ceremony just for us. She did a fantastic job from start to finish and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for something special and personal to add to an already perfect day!!

Francisco Sent on 01/27/2018Nancy and I were looking for an officiant that could offer a small non-denominational service in Spanish. We quickly realized Megan was the one for us. She took a personal interest in us right away and was very responsive and customized the service to be just what we wanted. She helped us find the right venue and after considering many options we chose one of her suggestions and we married at our apartment. The ceremony was very moving and we will always remember it.
