Above and Beyond

We chose MCGOVERN’S for our August wedding and could not have asked for a better experience! Kathy and Joe went above and beyond to make our day amazing. Our wedding photos came out beautifully against the background of the water and gazebo. It was just so convenient for our guests to attend the reception and ceremony all in one location. There was plenty of parking for all of our guests and the food was outstanding! The servers and bartender were all so kind. If we had to do it all over again we would pick this location without hesitation!!

Outstanding service

I had the best wedding at McGovern’s. Kathy and her staff go above and beyond for you . The food is fantastic . They decorated for my wedding just the way I wanted . I fell in love with this place as soon as I saw the beautiful gazebo by lake , so pretty.

Amazing Venue

There aren’t enough words I can say about this venue, Kathy and Joey!! They vent above and beyond to make our day amazing! We were blown away at how beautiful the room looked! The service and food was amazing! Thank you all

Great service

They were so accomodating to our needs with such short notice. Food was delicious with big portions and staff was great. Room was decorated perfectly. It was just as I had hoped. The grounds are perfect for beautiful photos. Highly recommended!

I can’t even begin to explain how absolutly perfect our wedding day way. We were just looking to have a fun party with our family and friends but we ended up having the fairytail wedding we never even knew we wanted! We selected Mcgoverns because we had done many events with them in the past and the food and service was always great and their packages included so many of the extras that other venues charge alot extra for (cake, centerpieces, linens). But little did we know the way they handle weddings is on a whole other level! Kathy was always so great with all the planning and so enthusiastic and detailed! I’m the fourth daughter and my parents have been through this 3 times prior and every time we met with her they couldn’t get over all the details she covered and were kicking themselves for not having considered them in the past. Everything was so beautiful and the food was endless and delicious. And above all else was Joey! Oh my god, I can’t even express how amazing he was. He made sure we had everything we needed before we even needed it, he bustled my dress once pictures were over, he let us know when we needed to be somewhere (because you tend to lose track of time) and he made sure everthing was perfect for us at every moment. I used to roll my eyes when people would say their wedding was the best day ever but it was truely amazing!

McGovern's was amazing! All of my guests were complimenting about how wonderful of a job they did! Kathy was awesome, we had meetings every few months so she could make sure that I was on track with everything and she gave me some helpful advice along the way! Joey was extremely helpful on the day of our wedding! We are so happy that we chose to having our reception there, from the service to the food, I cannot say enough! The flaming dessert and the show they put on is a must! All of my guests were raving about how much food there was and how delicious it was! They gave to-go containers for those that couldn't finish their meals, that's how much food there was! Highly recommend them! Pricing was extremely reasonable!

You get so much for a great price. The food is so good, the staff are great and the price is unbeatable!! Beautiful grounds to take pictures. You can get married outside in the gazebo. They take pride in their work!!

Cathy is amazing and all of her staff is as well. They were extremely attentive and made sure that my husband and I didn't have to ask for anything. When we arrived the drinks we wanted as well as hors d'oeuvres were waiting for us outside when we arrived. Joey was amazing and made I had everything I needed all night. When my dress needed adjusting and the bustle needed to be fixed it he did it without me asking! The food was amazing and we are kind of bummed that we can't order what we ate at the restaurant as they only serve it for weddings and special occasions. The pricing was reasonable and included everything from the food to the linens. If you are looking for quality and a good prices, McGovern's is the way to go!

McGovern's truly made our wedding amazing. All of the meetings we had with Kathy and the rest of the staff helped put us at ease through the entire event. They made sure we were on track with everything and had things planned on time. They also gave us tips and ideas for things that we weren't even planning on doing. The room looked amazing, and the food and service were out of this world. The appetizers just kept coming the entire time of the cocktail hour, and then we had an amazing dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful all night. Everyone was impressed with the service and food of McGovern's. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to have their wedding there.

Best choice I could have ever made for my wedding venue. We got married on the beautiful grounds and had our reception there as well. One word for this place is " remarkable" . Kathy was amazing! I recommend McGoverns to everyone. My friend got married at a very exclusive place in RI and paid so much money and didn't get nearly the service or assistance from them as McGoverns gave us. Kathy helps you with everything from place cards to the wedding cake. She was our wedding planner which I didn't expect to get from the venue. The food was amazing and I still have family and friends talking about the food at my wedding from 2 years ago. What you get for the money is great! I love this place! The flaming dessert at the end of dinner was a show in itself. They do such a great job here! You will love it!

McGovern's on the Water was the best choice we could have made for our wedding venue. They are affordable and they do not nickel and dime you like the bigger venues on tablecloths, chair covers, etc. Throughout the planning process Kathy spent countless hours guiding us. Our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and wedding day went beautifully and we have McGovern's to thank! The food and service is exceptional! If you want the wedding of your dreams, call McGovern's!

We found McGovern's online while viewing a wide variety of venues. We saw the grounds, the reviews, and the menu selections for McGovern's, and decided to call for more information, even though their location was 1 hour from our home town. Upon speaking with Ramona and recognizing how detailed she explained their services to be, we took the road trip. McGovern's was the only place we looked at live, as when we arrived we knew we had found the right place after viewing the grounds, as well, after speaking with Kathy who outlined every single step to putting together a successful wedding. McGovern's handled everything, except the usual to do list which Kathy outlined very thoroughly. She instructed us effortlessly from beginning to end, obviously due to her years of experience. Kathy also introduced us to our JP Joyce who also is very thorough, as well, someone who definitely loves what she does! Long story short, our wedding was beautiful, weather and all.

McGovern's surpassed all of our expectations on every level...professionalism, decorating of the grounds and reception room, the food (which kept coming and coming) was excellent, and the staff who served the food were so friendly and so attentive every step of the receptions.

McGoverns on the Water is a true hidden gem. Kathy, Ramona and Joey will make any event you are planning the best your guests have ever seen. I has my wedding there recently and I wouldn't change anything about it. Our friends and family were so impressed with everything saying its the best wedding they've ever been to. Kathy is a doll and she really, really goes above and beyond. Their prices are more than fair for the service you get. Ramona is sweetheart and she always suggestions and ideas to offer. Joey is the man - he's where the party's at. The whole team works really hard and they are happy to be there. It really isn't all about business for them, it's an experience and they want everyone satisfied and wowed.

I had never been or heard of McGovern’s before starting to search for wedding venues. I can’t remember how exactly I found the website, but I remember seeing the gazebo over the water wanted to check them out. As soon as we got there, I was in love. After meeting with Kathy, I knew this is where I was going to get married. My Fiance wanted me to keep an open mind because this was the first place we had checked out. Kathy had let us customize a package within our budget. I hadn’t realized we could afford such an extravagant wedding! The pricing was perfect! Beat the other venues we had checked out by far!
Throughout the year that we were planning our wedding, we had several meetings with Kathy. She wanted to make sure that our wedding planning was going smoothly. She offered helpful suggestions and gave us great recommendations. Not only did we work with Kathy, but Ramona and Joyce were big helpers as well! We had a taste testing of the food and holy delicious! We thought they were kidding when they said no one will go home hungry!
The day of the wedding was amazing!! Kathy and the head waiter Joey went above and beyond to make our day so special. The ceremony went off without a hitch, even though it had been raining. My heart was set on having my ceremony outside in the gazebo and they were very accommodating to my wants. They quickly set out tents for our guests and gathered as many umbrellas as they could so my husband and I could have our dream wedding. After the ceremony, the cocktail hour started and the food was amazing! They had decorated the hall and placed all my DIY items and personal items just the way we had discussed in our meetings. Dinner service was great and the flaming dessert was a huge hit! Everyone was amazed at the presentation of the dessert. Our wedding was absolutely incredible, astounding, amazing, etc! We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or superior staff!! Kathy, Ramona, Joey, and Joyce were awesome!

This family run business truly made my wedding the memories that I will cherish forever. We worked with Kathy and she was amazing. But, the person that really sold the entire package was the man of the day, Joey. I don't know what title to officially give Joey. He was a waiter, a perfectionist, a friend, a wedding designer, a touch of humor, etc., etc. He was amazing. He made sure that the wedding party, and especially my husband and I were stuffed the the brim. He let me see the hall with all the candles lit before all the guest came in so that I could have my moment. He create something that should have been on TV. The food that McGovern's brought out was never ending and delicious. From the passed appetizers to the flaming desset it was unforgetable. We are STILL receiving compliments. I cannot thank McGovern's and their amazing staff enough. I felt awesome and so did everyon else. Sigh...now if I could only redo it!

McGovern's staff were responsive and attentive throughout the planning process all the way through the ceremony and reception. Attention was paid to ever detail. Planning a wedding couldn't have been less stressful! Kathy McGovern was fantastic at guiding us through the planning process. Joyce was the wedding officiant and worked with us to create a beautiful and meaningful ceremony. The grounds and gazebo on the water were beautiful! The food was awesome from Hors d'oeuvres to the flamming chocolate swan dessert and wedding cake! The event pricing was reasonable. McGovern's far exceeded all our expectations!

McGoverns was a picture perfect location for a wedding it the south coast area. Service is amazing and the owners go above and beyond helping set up and making a wedding perfect. I highly recommend McGoverns above all others for the perfect ceremony location and reception venue. The food is to die for, and the decorations are simply amazing.

McGovern's was absolutely fantastic! They were the first and only venue we looked at. The downstairs room is gorgeous. You get your own bar area and own bathrooms and there's an outside patio. We did our ceremony there as well and Jocye, one of their wedding planners, also performed our ceremony. It was so handy having someone available who could do that and she did a great job. And you can NOT beat the price at McGovern's. I would reccommend it to anyone for sure. Food is also fantastic!

McGovern's is amazing!!! Everthing was perfect. They held our ceremony on their grounds and everything went off without a hitch. All our guests were raving about how beautiful everything looked and how delicious the food was. I could not imagine better service. They made our wedding completely stress free and we could not have asked for more. I would definately recommend them to anyone who was looking to have a function.

McGovern's and Kathy in particular were phenomenal!!! The service we received before and during the wedding was exceptional. She took care of so many things for us even ordering and decorating to our color scheme perfectly a cupcake cake holder because we wanted a cupcake wedding cake. Joey also was great he made sure my dress was perfect for pictures, took care of us personally during cocktail hour and during the meal and made sure we wanted for nothing. Our guests haven't stopped talking about how perfect our wedding was from the ceremony on their gazebo to the food that was to die for and the endless fun they had during the reception. I would recommend McGovern's to anyone that wants one stop wedding they can do it all for you and don't forget any of the little details!!! If we could do it again we would choose McGovern's time and time again!!

My daughter just had her wedding here. It was unbelievable! The room was decorated beautifully. The food was delicious and there was so much of it.(guests were offered containers to take their leftovers home) Kathy and her staff were both professional and personable . I can not offer one complaint. The wedding was more than I could have imagined. Kathy and her staff went above and beyond. We have received so many calls saying it was the best wedding people had gone to and the 1st that they didn't leave hungry. I would highly recommend McGovern's!

We highly recommend McGoverns on the Water for a wedding reception site!! We searched high and low for the best place and we found itfor a very affordable price!

Kathy and Joyce (the event planners) were amazing from beginning to end!!! They were very accommodating and assisted us throughout all of our planning stages. They are very friendly, approachable and professional!

Everyone commented on how perfect everything was. The room was decorated beautifully; Kathy gave the room a unique and classy style that our guests loved!! The cocktail hour was great more than enough pass hor 'dorves. Dinner was amazing; plenty of delicious food. The cake was beautiful and very tasty. The service was impeccable.

We loved everything you did for us and our guests did too!!! Not one complaint from any our guests! The entire night went smoothly; everyone enjoyed themselves and is still talking about how everything was perfect!!

I absolutely loved my ceremony and reception venue. Though McGoverns on the Water was pricey per person, a lot was included and the food was fantastic. My guests are still talking about how great everything was. I was also very happy with the decor of the room and how everything was set up as requested. The staff was great, the food was even better. It is definitely a great place to be married at, the staff will definitely take care of you!

I was so pleased with Kathy and her staff. Everything ran so smoothly and above my expectations. I thought the room looked beautiful and food was great, of what I ate. Hey I was a bride, too excited to eat much :). Most of my family said my wedding the best wedding they had been to and loved the food and Mcgoverns. Even when we had some people show up that said they were not, Kathy took care of it. I have to admit at first I found Kathy to be very opinionated and pushy, but its really a good quality. She is a perfectionist that wants her customers to be happy and want thier day to be awsome. I really do not have anything bad to say at all. I recommend them to anyone. The cost is reasonable and seriously we got SOOO much food. Your guests will definately eat well that night and the flamming desert adds to the entertainment of the night.

Mcgoverns was an amazing choice for us! They helped everyone to make sure their attire was perfect before walking down the isle. They queued the music perfectly. The food was fanominal!! I loved that we could choose to have 2 different meats on the plate and everyone loved it. I would definitely go back for an event!.

The first time we met with Kathy was very off putting she seemed to rush through everything and came across as judgmental about some of our requests. The second time I met with her was also the day we placed our deposit and she was much kinder and more open to actually listening to what I wanted. Truly an amazing venue for the price and not having to worry about decor or centerpieces as these are included in the cost really saved me so much stress. Kathy has a strong personality and can be difficult to work with but she truly did a wonderful job bringing together the vision for my wedding. The food was amazing with large portions so nobody was left hungry. The bartenders who worked my wedding were not very friendly, when I went up to grab a drink the 3 girls were chatting amongst themselves and barely even looked at me and did not say 1 word to me while I ordered and got my drink. A number of guests reported similar interactions with the bartenders. One of the staff, Joey is AMAZING he deserves a raise he truly went above and beyond for me and my guests. During cocktail hour Joey was encouraging me to eat something in between photos and I casually mentioned that I am a picky eater and didn’t actually have any hors douerves that I liked picked out because I focused more on what my guests would enjoy. Joey went inside and brought out mozzarella sticks just for me. Before I could even get the chance to ask my MOH to bustle my dress, Joey was there and had it bustled in no time. One of my bridesmaids dresses broke mid reception and Joey literally sewed it up right then and there and had her back out on the dance floor in no time. Joey was constantly checking in with my husband and I to see if we needed anything. I would highly recommend McGovern’s for anybody looking for an affordable wedding venue.

I had a small elegant wedding - 50 people- my huge gripe (and only one) is I told the planner (who is the daughter of the owner of McGovern's on the water, and in included free of charge) that I didn't want people waiting an hour in between courses as I know how my family and my husbands don't really know each other (or care to, honestly) LOL! But still we waited an hour after our crackers and cheese to get to the soup over an hour for me taking pic's while my family was upstairs, not in the pics! So as far as she (the included wedding planner) was concerned - she straight up stunk. BUT, the place was done perfectly, you get a LOT for a tight budget, but if you're looking to do more than a 4 hour wedding - this is not it.
Also, it was done in short time, she was good about me changing the date a few times AND the cake can come included IF you want or bring your own. They will decorate (they have picture books) or you can have it done by someone else - or with them! For people who have a tight budget or want to save money for the really good part, (HONEYMOON!!) but want a small classy wedding - this is a great choice!

McGovern's was a great place to hold both our wedding and reception. The location was beautiful, the service was professional and the food was excellent. The only negative thing about our experience with them was our wedding cake; thought it was beautiful it wasn't what we asked for. Otherwisee, I would highly reccommend McGovern's.

Had a great time at a wedding I attended in June. The food was good and for the most part the service was good.

McGovern's overbooked our room and rushed us through my whole reception. Upon our arrival they approached us with an extra bill because they said we had more people than agreed upon. Not only was that incorrect and we had the paperwork with us to prove it, but they missed two place settings on one of the tables. The waiters never served my guests beverages which we paid for. We had to cut the cake BEFORE we ate our dinner and then they brought out the next wedding's cake halfway through our reception. They also told my DJ to play the last sone at 4pm even though we had booked the room until 5pm. They started changing out the tableclothes and chair covers at 4:30. After the wedding I heard from my guests that the waitstaff was rude and one even refused to bring out more rolls!
