I feel SO lucky that Shelby was available for my wedding date! I'm Asian-American, so I was looking for a makeup artist who had some pictures in their portfolio of someone who looked like me, which narrowed things down pretty quickly since I was looking in the Burlington, VT area. I'm a makeup novice, but Shelby was very patient with me and my questions. She did makeup for me, my mother, my officiant, and my bridesmaid, and they all LOVED her. She did such an amazing job! -

Couldn't be happier!
Shelby was so easy to work with! She was responsive and clear with all communication, and extremely accommodating when we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19. She was professional; she showed up on time on the day of, and kept on schedule. She brought music, was fun and talkative. Everyone loved her! She helped my SIL/bridesmaid with her eyelash extensions even though she had applied her own makeup. -

Shelby was wonderful! She did an amazing job and was so wonderful with my bridesmaids who are not used to wearing make up and helpful with my 85 year old grandma with sensitive skin. Highly reccommend -

First off, let me start by saying that I was not an easy bride to deal with! I didn't know what I wanted when I saw Shelby for the first time, but she quickly helped me find the look of my dreams. Not only did she assist in helping me look my best for my special day, but she also helped five bridesmaids, two flower girls, and two family members look their best too.
She was incredibly flexible. The location of my wedding changed last minute, thank you COVID, as did the number of people I needed to have makeup done for. She was incredibly professional, but also super personable. She was able to communicate with even my most difficult girls who were not incredibly excited about being awake so early. I could not have asked for someone better. -

Amazing work!!
Shelby was awesome to work with!! She was very accommodating. She did an outstanding job on my make up and my little nieces. My make up looked very natural and not over the top. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for their make up to be done. -

I reached out to Shelby on instagram after seeing a lot of her portfolio on there. She was easy to get a hold of and was responsive thereafter. She was upfront with pricing when I inquired about it. It was easy to schedule a trial for myself and my bridal party members (and the MOB & MOG). She looked at my Pinterest board and asked me questions about my skin type, my level of comfort wearing makeup, what I typically do or don't wear, etc. She was very communicative and understood even when we had to postpone due to COVID. There were a few payment options and the contract was clear and simple to understand. On the day-of she was prompt and efficient, taking about 30 minutes per person. She was very good at letting me know when she was going to touch my face if my eyes were closed so that I wasn't startled. Overall Shelby was great and I would absolutely hire her again for a special event! -

Mcfarren makeup made me feel like a princess for my elopement! Due to Covid we decided last minute to elope in Stowe Vermont on Valentines day. Our ceremony was outside (it was about 35 degrees!) and I was so worried about my makeup cracking. Shelby listened to all my concerns and created a beautiful look that stood the test of our outdoor ceremony, and 4 hours of outdoor pictures. Shelby took me on such short notice and did an amazing job for a very decent price. I would recommend her in a heartbeat to any bride that wants flawless skin, beautiful eye makeup, and lashes that will not budge your whole day! -

Shelby was absolutely amazing! She took time out during the late summer to do a trial look on myself (even during a pandemic and was so cautious!) and helped/gave suggestions for my skin to ensure that on wedding day, I was my absolute best (and I still use them!). We provided her with our colors, and showed an image of the dress, and she just knew what I was looking for! She never made us feel rushed on wedding day, and even offered advice to my bridal party.
She was so kind and truly made me feel at ease (as much as possible on such day). I never wear make-up and she just made it feel so natural.
We met Shelby at a bridal convention in February on 2019, hired her on the spot, and kept in contact with us until our wedding date of 10/10/2020!
100% would recommend to any bride, or individual looking to feel pretty. -

Shelby did a fantastic job doing my makeup and 10 of my bridesmaids all on her own!!! I had to add two girls to the list at the last minute and she was fine with the additions and made sure we were all done in time! She also gave us a goody bag incase we needed some touch ups after the ceremony! -

Shelby was just awesome to work with! She got to our room to set up early and had a timeline in place. We were all ready on time and she made sure we were all happy with how we looked before starting on another person. I don’t wear a lot of makeup because I’m always afraid it will get cakey, but this wasn’t the case with my wedding makeup! It looked and felt like my own skin! I cannot thank her enough and I would recommend to anyone who wants makeup but doesn’t usually wear much. -

Shelby was amazing! She worked fast (there were 9 of us total) and everyone's makeup came out stunning. All the girls got compliments all night. She listened to each of us and everyone came out happy with the results.
I personally thought she was the best makeup artist I have ever worked with. In the past I always end up redoing some part of the makeup after it's been done but with Shelby, I didn't touch a thing! She nailed it, I looked like an elevated version of myself which was perfect for my wedding day.
If you are looking for a personable, fast, talented makeup artist, look no further! Shelby is your girl! -

I cannot recommend McFarren Makeup Artistry enough! Shelby made me feel stunning on my wedding day and went above and beyond to make my trail happen; Shelby traveled to my remote Vermont cabin and made note of all my trial-tweaks to perfect my wedding day make up look. On my wedding day, Shelby and her assistant arrived early, set up, and had everything ready to go for our 8 AM start. She managed to get our 11-person bridal party done an hour before pictures! Shelby and her assistant made me, my girls, and our mothers feel beautiful- everyone’s make up was perfect for their style, skin tone, and texture. I am thrilled with my beautiful my make up photographed, and that it stayed on SO WELL throughout the day. I truly did not even need a touch up after our ceremony, pictures, and reception. I am so pleased with my wedding day look and am thrilled to have connected with McFarren. Reasonably priced, high quality, and delightful to work with. -

Awesome Experience!!!
Shelby is the best! She did my makeup for my engagement photos, bridal shower, and wedding. On each occasion my makeup was absolutely flawless! It looked amazing in person and photographed so well. She is very knowledgeable and was able to recreate any look I wanted. She was very accommodating to me as well as my bridal party. I would highly recommend her for weddings or any special occasion!! -

Shelby was absolutely amazing to work with. She was always very responsive, I never waited more than a day to hear back from her. She did my makeup for my engagement photos as well as for my wedding day and they both turned out absolutely amazing. On my wedding day, she did makeup for 3 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and myself and she was done with plenty of time for me to finish getting my dress on and finish getting ready, and we all looked so beautiful!
My maid of honor also hired her for a makeup class for my bachelorette party and Shelby was so awesome that day as well. She had to deal with us drunken girls and she was so professional and patient with us. She taught us some really great makeup tips and the class was super fun. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a professional makeup artist not just for their big day but for any special occasion. -

Shelby is exceptionally professional. She worked with me to obtain just the look I was hoping for. In fact, the day of my wedding my makeup was even better than the trial and exceeded my expectations. She went above and beyond to help me and my matron-of-honor look our best. Thank you, Shelby! -
