We could not have asked for a better experience at The Barns at Mattaponi Springs! The venue is absolutely gorgeous … from the ceremony space to the reception barn, everything was picture-perfect.
Tammy and the coordinating team were amazing to work with. They made the whole day run so smoothly and took care of every little detail so we could just enjoy ourselves. They were calm, organized, and genuinely cared about making our day special.
Our guests kept saying how beautiful everything was and how smoothly it all went. We’re so thankful we chose this venue, it was the perfect place to celebrate our day!

I wish I could give BAMS more than five stars. To start our relationship over a year ago, I was still living in Florida and getting ready to move to VA and my fiance was deployed. Tammy was so accommodating in doing their first ever FaceTime venue tour, allowing us to have a look at the property before booking. We immediately booked not only because of the property, but because of Tammy’s kindness. It was clear from the beginning she was going to make sure our weekend was perfect. Over the next year, I was able to stop by the venue several times for walk throughs and got every answer needed from Tammy. Once our vendors were on board, each of them commented about how they either love working at this venue in the past, or were going to push to come back in the future. I also can’t even begin to count how many of our guests commented on how amazing the venue was and asked how I found it. What really sealed the deal for us on this property aside from everything already mentioned, was the fact that we could rent the houses on the property for our families and bridal party. Allowing them to stay on property was so nice, having their belongings close by in case they needed to grab something during the reception, and not having to drive after drinking was a game changer. The bridal suite being separate from the Manor House was also very nice so we didn’t have to limit where the guys could go in the house while we were getting ready. I know this is a long post, but I truly could go on for days about how incredible this venue is and how I would book our wedding here again and again if given the chance.

Tammy and everyone at Mattaponi Springs were so incredibly helpful from beginning to end on my wedding day. They made everything flow so smoothly, no one had to stress about a thing. They offered decor, tables, chairs, the beautiful venue, speakers, and the help from staff for announcements. I 100% would recommend this venue for your special day, I am so happy we did.

I could not have asked for a better venue, kinder or more helpful staff, or a more calming presence from the Event Director and Day-of Coordinator, Tammy! I had the wedding of my dreams and every single aspect of our weekend at The Barns was perfect. When we ran out of coffee pods in the morning, they quickly arrived to refill our supply, a staff member noticed a wedding guest in need of an emergency safety pin and took the initiative to offer one! The venue was clean, the lawn manicured, and everything went so smoothly! It was so fun to be able to have family and friends stay on the property so I didn't have to rush through hellos and goodbyes during the chaos of the wedding day! I can't recommend this venue enough!

We visited 3 local wedding venues. The Barns was the first one we did a formal visit for. The other two venues we visited after paled in comparison. The flexibility and different options for indoor or outdoor ceremony spaces is wonderful. Can plan for outside but still have amazing indoor backup options. Tammy is a gem and such a wonderful person to work with. Our day was a dream and not stressful because I knew Tammy was on top of things. We did the weekend package and it was wonderful to be able to stay on site and enjoy the property and all that were able to stay in the Manor House with us. Have nothing bad to say, wish we could rewind and do it all over again!

We had the perfect day and everything was a dream! Tammy and her staff are so accommodating to everyone and she ensures the bride and groom and happy and taken care of as well as all of the guests.

We attended a wedding at this venue during the spring time. It has stunning views and a sophisticated feel for being a barn venue! The accommodations are gorgeous and even the bathroom amenities are super nice.
The venue staff was very nice and noticeably present. We really enjoyed our day here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a venue location for a wedding or event!

We were married in the Pine Barn and had a wonderful ceremony. The Manor House and the view is stunning. The Cottage is great for family to stay in town. Staff were great. Couldn't be happier!

Attended an event here, and it was very lovely. Everything was high quality, professional, and attention was paid to every detail. This is a very nice wedding venue that we have since recommended to friends looking for a rustic/rural venue in Virginia.

The Barns at Mattaponi Springs made all my wedding dreams come true! This venue was absolutely gorgeous. My bridal party and family stayed at the Manor House and the Golf Course house and it was truly a wedding experience instead of just a wedding DAY! It was so nice to be able to spend quality time with my friends and family and not feel rushed for my Rehearsal Dinner or Wedding Day. If you are considering a place to get married then look no further!

Shelley was great to work with. She was the 3rd event planner we dealt with at Mattaponi Springs, but considering she came in after many agreements were made, she tied it all together and I saw very few problems that occurred. They came to my attention after the wedding when talking to friends and family!
Shelley was at times hard to reach, but when it came down to the wire, she was there. We did have some miscommunications on details, but again, I think much of that was from the contracts/agreements being passed from 1 planner to another.

As far as professionalism, I marked them down a little because the way they sign contracts is confusing to all parties and makes the process a little difficult. The contract is only from rental of the lodge. It is understood that you must you them for catering, but at no time do they work up a written estimate exacting the costs. Not until a day or two before the wedding, which can cause panic. They automatically add 20% gratutity to everything, including the rental of the lodge, plus there is a meals tax. I wasn't expecting all the extras thrown in there. I calculated my estimate based on prices verbally quoted per person and we were almost $2000 different, so we had to rearrange and cancel certain things. If it would have been disclosed in a contracted estimate beforehand, we would have worked our budget differently to be able to have everything we wanted. Also, they only do consumption bar....be careful! We set $1500 for bar (that was an estimate of what it would cost by them) and when we walked in near the end of the cocktail hour, the bar bill was already $800.00. So we had to switch to cash bar around 2 hours before the end of the reception because the bill went almost $1000.00 over. They were great at fixing all that stuff, flawlessly. The manager adjusted our bill because she told us the steak meals weren't up to her standard! It's nice to know that they do quality inspections and hold themselves accountable.
It's a beautiful location and we had a wonderful time. We would recommend them again!

The setting is absolutely gorgeous! The Manor house and Barns are lovely! It's great to have the option to rent the property for the weekend and have extra Airbnb's for the wedding party and family to stay.
