    Easy Experience

We recently decided to elope so now things are just as stressful and confusing but now fast tracked. This was not stressful and it was dare I say, easy. Luckily I went in with a dress in Metrix d to try on after seeing it on their Instagram page, but expecting to try many dresses (they always look better on a model). I tried on the dress and it was perfect, but I tried on a couple of others to be sure. She didn't even blink when I reappeared after only trying on 2 of the dresses she pulled because I wanted the original dress.
Their sample sizes fit me m, which was something I was concerned about, since I’m no size 2 and actually made the experience that much more stress free.
I put a 50% down payment down and ordered my dress which is set to arrive in December. So far this has been the easiest choice. The staff were all so kind and quiet which was nice for my introverted self doing this alone.

Wonderful experience, super helpful, and fun salon!

Masako was one of the only salons on the island that would agree to tailoring my dress even though I bought it on the mainland. Zoe helped me through the entire alteration process, providing invaluable feedback during the 3 separate fittings. I loved my dress before, but the the alterations truly made it fit to me and made me feel beautiful. They created a French bustle, which was easy for my friends and sister to put together, and held up through dancing all night. Thank you Masako for making my day even more special, and thank you to Zoe for your care, patience, and insight!

I was reaching the point where I was tired of looking at wedding dresses - they all looked the same and uninspired! I wanted something different. This place is where it's at! I found my gown, love at first sight, and the staff was so kind and not pushy towards making a choice right away, it was a relaxed approach and I loved it. Gown prices have a nice range too so you can deff spend under 1000 here.

Zoe is amazing!! She is such a sweetheart and always makes your visits so much more enjoyable. I also saw Naomi on few occasions too, and she is quite the sunshine. As a disclaimer, I did not get my dress at Masako Formals (it's from BHLDN) but did take it to the store for the alterations. They were extremely easy to work with and made sure I was happy with how it looked. They even helped me package it up to have it taken from Oahu to Kauai on the plane.
Now for the funny story - I was a trainwreck on the day I was supposed to board my flight to Kauai. Because I had just gotten nails done that morning, I was running late and actually missed my flight. In the midst of chaos, I of course stab my toe and ruin my pedicure. Thankfully, I was able to catch the next flight. On the plane, I opened up a personal wedding card from Zoe, which had me in tears! It helped me get through the rest of that day, and I couldn't be more grateful to her for that.
I also borrowed a veil from the store too. That's a consideration for brides who don't want to dish out more money on a veil. In terms of the alteration, I think they did a great job with the hem and bustling. Unfortunately, I did have a slight mishap with the boning. I think one of the boning was not able to support the weight of the dress and bent weirdly during all the movement and ended up poking the heck out of me (ouch). It was also noticeable in some of the pictures, but overall it wasn't a big deal. I'm not sure how this could have been foreseeable, but if you do have a heavier dress, I'd definitely take that into consideration when adding boning.

Not a lot of the staff speak English well, but I worked with Zoe who was very helpful and found me the perfect dress! They are flexible with alterations, and the prices are reasonable. I love my dress and am thankful for Zoe and the Masako staff for making our special day amazing!

Zoe and the staff at Masako's were a pleasure to work with. They were very responsive, helpful, and the experience over all was great! They have a wide selection and unlike other shops, do not pressure their customers into making a decision and purchase right away.

I found an outstanding dress at Masako Formals. I can't remember the sales-woman's name but she helped me on numerous occasions and she was fabulous!

Masako Formals saved my wedding!! After a disastrous decision to make my dress, I was stuck with a dress I simply did not want to wear...six weeks before the big day! Long story short, with only half an hour to browse before my tennis match, I decided to stop by and check out their dresses. I found "the one" within 15 minutes. I bought the dress right off the rack! Unlike the smaller bridal boutiques with too little selection and shops with too many dresses, Masako has just the right amount of elegant bridal dresses. This made selecting a dress a very comfortable experience. I was not overwhelmed at all. On top of this, the owner was very responsive to my budget and I got a great discount for my San Patrick Palma gown. The seamstress there was extremely accommodating, especially when I dropped another dress size and she needed to take the gown in another inch and a half...ONE week before the wedding. She also did a wonderful job altering the dress...every part of the lace overlay was perfect. This bridal shop was perfect...I LOVED and still LOVE my wedding gown. It's a timeless piece that I would love to pass onto my daughter (if she wants it!).

Masako's formal has amazing dresses! For a small boutique, they had a lot to choose from. The staff is helpful and kind. They were very accomodating when scheduling fittings, and were helpful whenever I called with questions.

I went to Masako Formals after having visited many bridal places on the island. I was almost giving up on having an ideal dress for my wedding when I came across a sample dress at discount there. I loved the shape but did not like some pieces such as the pieces on the belt and the dress being sleeveless. Zoe and Kim-san worked with me over the course of 10 months to alter my dress at a reasonable cost. They allowed me to bring in my own fabric to change the belt and add sleeves. It was difficult looking for a dress on my own with my family overseas, but Zoe and Kim-san made the process really comfortable and it was such a pleasure working with them. The dress did not look like a sample to any of the guests, and came out to be beautiful. The only trouble I had was that no one seemed to be able to find the hook for the bustle on my wedding day, so I regretted I should have checked better when I tried it on the last time. I also got a little confused on the different charges, but Zoe was patient with my questions and clarified everything with me.

Pauline at Masako Formals really did a great job in helping me find my dream wedding dress. I told her what I was looking for and she brought out several dresses, all of which I liked, but the one I ended up purchasing was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! She was so nice and polite and really wanted to help. The store itself was very clean and bright. Another thing I liked was that you can just walk-in without having to make an appointment. I walked in a couple times and did not have to wait.

I knew how I wanted my dress to look like, and by chance I was at a wedding expo and there was a wedding dress fashion show and I saw a dress that was EXACTLY what I looking for. It was from Masako's so I went to their booth and signed up for more info or something. When I got home and did some online research I was hesitant to go there after reading some Yelp reviews, but after I received a 20% off postcard in the mail about a month after the expo, I went with my Mom.

This store has a lot of Japanese speaking staff (they cater to Japanese clientele that come to Hawaii to get married), but due to the Yelp review I knew to try to work with Pauline (she is really sweet and patient!) Interestingly, because they cater to the Japanese they have a small studio upstairs where you can rent kimono and take traditional Japanese wedding pictures. For about $700 or $800, it covers the cost of the bride's kimono and groom's hakama rental as well as hair and makeup for the bride (note that buying the pics is separate so this seriously adds up depending on how many pics you buy and their size!)

Anyways in regards to the dress, with the discount, I ended up getting a Casablanca 1918 dress in ivory (with a custom corset back which was extra) and veils (yes I had 2) for about $1300 which blew everyone away that saw it 'cause they thought I had spent thousands on it due to all the lace and beading.

I guess the only other thing that's important to keep in mind about this store is to be patient. There can be times when you enter and it seems like there is no one around (since it's a smaller store I think they just have a few people on the floor and they may be helping other people getting into dresses or doing a fitting...) Just hang out for a little bit and look at some of the bridesmaid/prom dresses they have in the front or start to peruse through some of the wedding dresses and someone will pop out their head and help you eventually...
