  The Absolute Best

  - [ ] Mary Sarah was an absolute dream to work with from our very first interaction. She is very well-organized, insightful, experienced, and thorough in all that she does - from the communication before we ever met, to the detailed information she provided at our initial consultation, to the wedding day itself. We received a beautiful, surprise gift in the mail just prior to our engagement shoot. That was one of the many small touches that set her above and beyond the rest for us. Mary Sarah created a detailed wedding timeline for us that even our day-of coordinator found to be so helpful and precise. I didn’t feel any stress whatsoever on our wedding day, because I knew there was a plan for every photo that we wanted and I just had to follow her lead! She was wonderful at combining the few poses and photos that I knew that I wanted with her own expertise to provide us with the most stunning album of photos. She and her assistant/second shooter on our wedding day, Mallory, even helped with things that were not their responsibility, such as affixing charms to my bouquet and helping to get boutonnières pinned. She captured all of the portraits that we wanted as well as all of our decor that I would never have seen otherwise (we got so busy trying to visit with everyone that I never made my way through our whole venue to see everything in person!). I could go on and on! Finally, it must be mentioned that Mary Sarah is not only a brilliant photographer, but also one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. I cannot imagine our wedding day without her experience and calming presence. We will treasure our beautiful wedding photos forever.

  Mary Sarah is the BEST!

  Mary Sarah is simply the best! Working with her made such a big part of our wedding + wedding planning so easy. From the moment that we submitted an interest form, she was responsive, kind, and you could tell, invested in the couples that she works with. She was also so patient and really worked with us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. From planning the engagement photo session to the actual wedding, she was incredible to work with, and went along with all of our ideas and thoughts (and transformed them into AMAZING pictures). On the actual day of the wedding, she made sure that things were streamlined, organized, FUN, and made sure to balance capturing plenty of photos while making sure we were able to enjoy all of our wedding. I can't say enough good things about Mary Sarah + her photos!

  Mary sarah is awesome!

  I knew I wanted Mary Sarah to capture my wedding before I was even engaged. Let me explain. One day during work, my coworker came to desk to show me photos from a family friends wedding, and believe me when I say they were BEAUTIFUL. The first thing out of my mouth was “who photographed the wedding?” So, I got Mary Sarah’s name, followed her on Instagram, and wrote it down in my notes because like most women, we plan our weddings before we’re engaged.
  
  Not too long after, I got engaged and knew exactly who to go to. Mary Sarah was responsive, informative, and transparent regarding her packages and the full value of what you’re getting.   Amazing Photographer!!

  Mary Sarah was absolutely great to work with! We had a large wedding party and she was able to keep everything on time and run smoothly. Our photos turned out amazing and arrived before the date in our contract! My only regret is that I wish I hired Mary Sarah to stay the whole night! I could not recommend Mary Sarah more for your wedding photography needs.

  Mary Sarah was amazing!

  Mary Sarah was amazing to work with. My husband and I were anxious about our engagement and wedding photos, but Mary Sarah made us feel so comfortable. She has a real talent for catching a moment, not just a pose, which was far more meaningful to us. We were thrilled with everything we recieved from her. She was attentive, responsive to our needs, and so kind! We couldn't have picked a better photographer for our special day.

  Mary sarah is the best

  Mary Sarah is the sweetest and kindest human being that you will meet. But more than that, she is a true professional with a keen eye for photography. She captures the light and the glow of your bridal moment so so well. Her sister was with her second and was so nice in fluffing my train and helping me walk around with how long it was. She is extremely responsive via e-mail and was able to talk me through different options of packages so that I knew I was picking the right one. My husband really does not like to get his photo taken, but she was able to get the best out of him and overall I am SO pleased with how the photos came out. Mary Sarah is top notch, you will be really happy with your experience with her I promise!

  I loved working with Mary Sarah

  Mary Sarah shot our wedding and I could not have been more pleased with her work. She is kind hearted, professional, artistic and a pleasure to work with. She responded to me in a timely manner, was very organized, and really took the time to really understand my vision in order to ensure she brought it to life. She stuck to our day of timeline and ensured the day flowed perfectly all while capturing every detail. The photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined.

  Mary Sarah is the full package! I wanted to be her BFF after meeting her for the first time! Not only is she an extremely talented photographer, she also has a great personality and is very professional! We told her the ideas that we had for our intimate wedding photos and she turned that vision into dream pictures. She captured every moment beautifully and made our venue (a park) look like we were on an exotic island! She is fun, easy going and will do what she can to capture an amazing shot. She even got in the lake so that she could take our picture at the perfect angle. Her work is timeless and she will become your go-to photographer for years to come! We plan on having her photograph our vow renewal and my maternity pictures - when the time comes! You only have one opportunity to capture your special day; Mary Sarah makes those moments priceless.

  Fantastic Wedding Photographer Experience with Mary Sarah Photography

  We cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Mary Sarah. From our first interaction when she responded to our online inquiry about taking engagement photos in Annapolis to our final day with her as she captured our elopement, she was the epitome of everything you'd want in a wedding photographer. She was always responsive (even following busy wedding weekends), professional, engaging, a great listener, attentive to even the smallest detail and, most importantly, fun and easy to work with.
  
  For our elopement, we took photos in the Bishop's Garden at the National Cathedral and all around the National Mall (Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument). At each location, Mary Sarah knew exactly how to stage us to take advantage of the backgrounds, the lighting and of course minimize the crowds (as we eloped during peak tourist season). She also worked seamlessly with our videographer, which was such a treat, and continuously ensured that our videographers were getting the shots and coverage they needed. In fact, my parents thought that Mary Sarah and the videographer were actually working together and only half way through photos did they realize they were separate entities!
  
  Despite her incredibly busy schedule, Mary Sarah always managed to get our final photographs (engagement and elopement) back to us just a few weeks following the relevant event. Following our elopement, Mary Sarah even worked feverishly to get us some incredible print-worthy versions of photos (she delivered them to us just 48 hours following our elopement) that we used in our wedding announcement to friends and family. Every one of our friends/family who received our wedding announcement told us that the photo was breathtaking -- and that is all thanks to Mary Sarah!
  
  In sum, Mary Sarah made our big day even more special, and we will cherish her incredible photos for years to come. Mary Sarah was an absolute joy to work with, and we would highly recommend that any bride and groom in the DMV area use her to capture your special day! Thanks for everything, Mary Sarah!

  Best photographer ever!!!

  Hiring Mary Sarah for my wedding was the best decision. She is very professional, fun, and creative. When we received our photos, they honestly took our breath away. She is extremely talented and works incredibly hard to make sure she captures your wedding perfectly. Thank you Mary Sarah- you are incredible!

  Best Ever!!

  Where to even begin with Mary Sarah. She is AMAZING! I was not the most organized bride and really did not know where to start when it came to all of the details on my wedding day. Mary Sarah was my saving grace and created a wedding day timeline like none I have ever seen before. It was so detailed that I ended up giving the exact timeline to my wedding planner and day of coordinators. My wedding day ran as flawlessly as I could have imagined all thanks to Mary Sarah! She is a talented photographer and even better person. I genuinely enjoyed talking with her via email and phone through out the engagement photo process and leading up to the big day. Mary Sarah listened to what I envisioned for my photos and made it happen in real life (a skill I am not sure most normal humans have). The team between her and Brent is also incredible. I got to meet Brent on my wedding day and he is a talented, patient, and equally as awesome addition to any wedding day team. Being photographed by a married couple just feels right for some reason. My now husband and I will cherish the photographs from our wedding forever! We walked away from our wedding day feeling like we gained two new friends during this process, truly something that you can not say of every hired wedding vendor.

  Mary Sarah is a hard worker and a very proficient photographer. At our first meeting she asked all the right questions. This was key in getting the photos we wanted (and skipping those that we were not very keen on). Our wedding was at a small historic chapel, but she was able to navigate through the church and get some great shots without being a distraction. The set photos after the ceremony (and at the reception) were nicely composed. The photos turned out great, and she even Photoshopped out the obtrusive parking meter in front of the church. I would recommend Mary Sarah Photography to my friends. Very nice work!

  All I can say is WOW . Our photos from our engagement & wedding were absolutely stunning and we cannot thank Mary Sarah and Brent enough for capturing our special day. My wedding planner had showed us many options for a photographer and once we saw Mary Sarah’s wedding photos we were so in love . They are seriously the best people to work with very passionate, hardworking , and one of the most big hearted people ever . We definitely have not regretted choosing them and I know you won’t either !

  Mary Sarah is seriously the best! She made my fiancé and I feel so comfortable during our shoot! We even had a lot of fun! She was very professional and gave us a lot of direction so our pictures turned out gorgeous! She is truly talented in finding unique, beautiful places to shoot your pictures, and make her subjects look natural in the photos. I have received so many compliments on how beautiful our pictures turned out and it is all thanks to her! If you are looking for a photographer for your engagement/wedding pictures, you absolutely should hire Mary Sarah!

  Mary Sarah was the first vendor we hired during our wedding-planning process. We felt we had an instant connection not only to her, but also to her photography, which was absolutely beautiful. And, in the end, the photos she took of us truly lived up to the beauty standards her example photos had set - we (and our guests) absolutely loved both our wedding AND complimentary engagement photos. Not only were the photos beautiful, but she made them so easy to take; I'm a pretty "type A" kind of person, and Mary Sarah definitely understood that, ensuring we were working to a well-defined schedule (which she worked with us to put together), capturing all of the details and people that were important to us, and making sure the whole process was easy and calm. She was also super accommodating pre- and post-wedding. First, she helped us to find the best location for our engagement photos (she also found quick work-arounds when some unexpected snafus deterred our shoot, and captured the whole thing while pregnant). Second, she composed a package that fit our budgetary needs (while I am a huge believer that photography is one thing you should splurge on at a wedding, she still helped us to stay within budget!). Finally, she made us both hi-res and lo-res copies of our photos for both printed and social media use. And this doesn't even cover the little touches that were so wonderful: she knew our theme was Lord of the Rings, so she wore a LotR necklace, AND came up with some thematic shots; while taking pictures, even though she had not been commissioned to take video, she recorded a few minutes of a dance she felt couldn't be captured in stills; and she is even sending us a little present (can't wait to see what it is!). All in all, a fabulous photographer who provided a fabulous experience. Highly recommended.

My husband and I were not afraid to tell her exactly what we wanted, and Mary Sarah delivered everything we asked and more. Another great addition to Mary Sarah’s services was having her husband, Brent, as the second photographer. Although we did not meet Brent until the day-of, Mary Sarah and Brent were so comfortable with each other that it added another level of fluidity to the day. They captured every major moment of the ceremony and reception while being strategic about staying out of the limelight. My husband and I are so happy we chose Mary Sarah Photography.

I went to a bridal show at our venue (Holly Hills Country Club - highly recommend) and they had a handful of vendors present. I saw the most gorgeous display of pictures, and standing next to the showcase was Mary Sarah. Without hesitation I asked, "Are you available on October 1st?!" She had another bride wanting to consult with her to discuss her wedding, but I was blessed enough to reserve the big day....as I pretty much hired her on the spot. Shortly after the bridal show, we had our first meeting. Mary Sarah explained her style as classic photos that are timeless, rather than putting five zillion layers of filter on a photo that will look like something from your Instagram. Mary Sarah contacted me to schedule another virtual meeting two weeks from our wedding day to discuss specific shots I'd like, & what "photo theme" we were hoping for. The wedding day came quickly & before I knew it, it was 3 o'clock & Mary Sarah was ready to roll. Assisting her was Brent, & he ensured that my dress was laying properly, no straps were flying out, & that the neck ties on the groom(s)/men were all straight. Of course it rained on our wedding day, but Mary Sarah was a fearless leader as she lead us outside onto the venue grounds to catch the perfect pictures of me and my now husband. After a few family/friend photos, we got hitched! After that, the party quickly began. Mary Sarah, bless her heart, was a trooper as we did not stand still for one moment. After the wedding, we received a few photos about two weeks later, and 6 weeks later, we have all of them! WE ARE IN LOVE WITH THEM!! Mary Sarah is incredible to work with and will capture each moment of your day! Overall, Mary Sarah worked with our budget, was flexible on photo times, offered great packages to add, & captured our day perfectly. Thank you so much Mary Sarah and Brent!!
