Stuck with us till the end

We had to postpone our wedding TWICE because of the pandemic. Mary was understanding and supportive through the whole thing. She is quick to respond, knowledgeable and just amazing. Thank you for sticking with us till the end and making getting married a breeze.

Amazing-made me cry

She is honestly the best. We were so lucky to have her do our ceremony. She prepared our ceremony like it was her own and she stayed over an hour to take photos and videos of us. She also made me laugh so much knowing well that I was super nervous. Her vows made both me and my husband cry..Thank you Mary!!

Very thoughtful & personable

I recently attended my nephew's wedding at Sherwood Island State Park officiated by Mary C. Pugh. They certainly chose the right person to unite them in marriage. Her message about marriage, and this couple in particular, was thoughtful, impressive and inspiring.

Mary Pugh is very professional. And she is really friendly and made us feel so comfortable.. She uses Dropbox, where she provides you with Vow templates and additional resources, which she doesn't have to do, but it shows that she goes above and beyond to provide a standout experience. She has a form so you can customize everything from added traditions for the ceremony to the color of the stole she wears which is amazing service. She takes great photos and the marriage certificate folder she gave us was lovely. We appreciate what you did for us mary!! I’d definitely recommend her for any ceremony..

Mary made the process so easy. My husband and I wanted a ceremony with just the two of us, and Mary was certainly the right choice. From the beginning, she provided incredibly helpful suggestions that saved me time and stress, and she was always responsive. On our wedding day, she took many lovely photos that we couldn't be happier with. She is such a sweet human being that we immediately felt comfortable around. Impending hurricane, exciting and fun...

Today the 4th of August 2020 I married my best friend and father of my two sons by JP Mary Pugh and its was an experience lol With rain drops and two very active toddlers. Mary worked with us flawlessly with our vows, photos and videos. Thank you again Mary.

She’s the best

Mary was extremely helpful since the first phone call. I wanted to do something simple and she gave me suggestions of where I could have my wedding. She provided me with templates for ceremony scripts through dropbox. On the day of the wedding Mary made a video and took various pictures which were nice to remember the day. She’s truly is best justice of the peace in CT. I would recommend her 100 times over.

Great intimate bilingual legal ceremony

My husband and I were doing a destination catholic ceremony in December but wanted to get married in the US, so Mary performed the legal ceremony.

Mary came to our apartment and performed an intimate legal ceremony with our parents. We told her my parents spoke Spanish and she made sure to do the ceremony in both languages. She is very easy to work with and will acomodare any special request! She also records the ceremony for your memory.

We found Mary through Wedding wire, and had a great feeling after meeting with her. She was amazing at answering questions we had, and she was very professional. Our ceremony was very quick, which was perfect for us and our guests. She even gave us a copy of our official marriage vows she read from after the ceremony.

Amazing officiant

Mary Pugh is amazing! She just officiated my ceremony and she absolutely hit it out of the ballpark. She is soft and gentle when she needs to be, with a formidable, strong voice that demands attention and respect. She was also so lovely to talk to, easing my anxiety and tension with assurance that everything will go as planned. My brother happened to be late, and this threw the timing of things off slightly and yet Mary was so patient and understanding- a real gem! Do not hesitate to hire her as she’s a cut above the rest. A beautiful officiator
who is impeccably organized, warm and generous with her time.
I’m sure she get’s booked often so make sure you secure her asap.

Beautiful Ceremony

Mary officiated our wedding on Saturday and she was absolutely wonderful! Not only did she take the time to meet with us beforehand to talk about the ceremony, she was always very responsive to emails to answer any questions we had. She got to the ceremony site a bit early and took some photos of the bridal party outside doing photos and other candids of our guests which I soooo appreciated! Especially since we will need to wait 8 weeks for the professional photos to get to us. The ceremony went beautifully and even though there was a little hiccup with the string quartet, Mary addressed it gracefully and made light of the awkward situation, making everyone laugh. I can’t thank her enough for her professionalism, attention to detail, and grace. The photos of us at the end and with our rings were beautiful.

A 34 Year Commitment Became Legally Official

This week was the 5 yr anniversary of our wedding in CT. JP Mary Pugh married us on a rock walkout on the Sound in New Haven. April has always been a special month for us. We could not marry at the time in Indiana, so we arranged our event while I was traveling into CT for work. We picked the location and communicated via internet and 1 phone call with Mary. We met Mary at the location at the time we had arranged. It rained the day and night before so it was wet and more than a bit windy but we loved the location and decided to do the service we planned outdoors on the rock walkout. Mary was very professional and personable. Since we were not from the area, she also took us into New Haven to register our marriage. That day will always be special to us, after 34 years of a committed relationship, our relationship was finally, legally recognized marriage. Mary, will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you, Mary, for being you!

Perfect Day, Perfect JOP!

My fiance and I finally tied the knot on our 10 year anniversary last Friday. We were so lucky to have Mary there for our ceremony. We were able to meet with her to talk about what we wanted for the ceremony, and this gave us the opportunity to get to know her a bit, as we were nervous. Mary helped to calm our nerves, and our wedding day went smoothly (except for when our best man almost dropped my wedding ring into the ocean!) Mary is incredibly kind and caring. She is very outgoing and animated, and this adds to the overall ceremony. What is even more special is that Mary takes photos and videos of the ceremony and shares it with you via DropBox. I got some truly lovely photos from her shared with me the day after our wedding. Mary truly has a passion for her job, and I highly recommend her.

Personalized ceremony

Mary did such an amazing job on our ceremony! It was important to us that our wedding not just be about us, but the people around us, which is something I didn’t think we would achieve with the ceremony itself. However, Mary’s words conveyed that message perfectly. My family keeps telling me how touching and beautiful it was. Mary made our wedding ceremony so memorable! She provided us with wedding ceremony templates and readings, which allowed us to create our own special celebration. Extremely kind and helpful!

Mary is an incredibly caring and helpful officiant! She shared a treasure trove of materials/forms/scripts - everything from how to apply for a marriage license to how to change your last name. It turned out we decided to cancel our booking when a close family friend offered to officiate. Mary was so kind and understanding about the situation. She was happy for us that we would have a meaningful connection to our officiant. We are so grateful for all of the help Mary provided in a short time. It is clear she has her clients' best interests at heart!

Mary officiated our wedding in Simsbury, CT recently, and was completely wonderful. In the planning stages, she allowed us the flexibility to craft a ceremony that we were comfortable with, and that reflected who my wife and I are as individuals, and as a couple. Mary’s ceremonies are eloquently written and beautifully arranged, and we ended up using a ceremony she had written with some minor personal customization. It turned out lovely. On our wedding day, Mary arrived to our venue early, making sure that everything was in order for our ceremony to run smoothly. She also took a still video of our ceremony, and provided her own Bluetooth sound system for us to use for our ceremony music. It also had a microphone attached for us to use during the ceremony. Just a few hours after our ceremony, Mary had already sent us the video and photos that she took, as well as a scanned copy of our completed marriage license. We are very pleased with the work that Mary did to make sure that our wedding ceremony was successful and beautiful. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding officiant in CT!

Mary was very friendly and easy to work with. She wanted to make sure our day went the way we wanted it! She had lots of references and examples to help us plan. She took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for. She walked us through the ceremony to make sure we were prepared. And she did a great job running the ceremony! She did a lovely dramatic reading, with her beautiful voice and careful prosody. She improvised around minor glitches, and made sure everything went smoothly.

Mary Pugh has completely exceeded our expectations as a justice of peace. She does not only marry you, she provides an extensive amount of material to use for your ceremony. Several scripts with various vow options, using traditional and/or personal. She even provides samples for popular ceremony music, as well as takes pictures for you! She is very fast to respond to questions, and the day after our wedding she already had uploaded pictures and videos for us. She provides you every piece of information and document you will need, and a complete rehearsal guide. With Mary Pugh as your officiant you can feel very confident and relieved because she is extremely organized and has the situational awareness to keep things perfect for you. She makes this as easy as possible for you.

We were blown away with everything she provided for us. She did a great job, has a great voice, and dressed professionally (you are also given many options on what she wears). Extremely happy we picked her for our wedding, she is a top choice.

Wonderful officiant! We were married by Mary on the coldest day of the year 1/6/18! She was such a delight to work with; very through and she made the process and day so easy! I had no worries with Mary there. She did a wonderful job with our ceremony, including a hand ceremony and blessing of the rings. She made everything go smoothly. She even took so many pictures afterwards and a video of the ceremony. We didn't get a videographer, and when we got the video of our ceremony I was SO happy she recorded it! Mary was so easy to work with! She was straight forward, helpful and had some great recommendations. One of her thoughts was to stop and have a "second kiss" at the first row before we processed out. This ended up being one of our favorite pictures of the whole day. We are so happy we worked with her!

My husband and I are so grateful to Mary for assisting us with our private vow ceremony this past weekend. We were thrilled to be able to be wed on our terms separate from the formal ceremony that we are having to please our families. She was very responsive and accommodating and even offered to postpone the ceremony by a few hours which gave her a tight schedule due to weather. Definitely worth every penny. Thanks so much Mary!

Mary was fabulous! She did such a great job with directions of what to do the day of. She did a wonderful job with the ceremony. She printed out our ceremony/vows in a beautiful folder and even got us tons of pictures of all the decor and guests the night of the wedding! I was so happy for this because we got to see all the beautiful decor and not have to wait for our photographer. She really went above and beyond and is worth far more than every penny spent.

Mary was the best!!! She helped us every step of the way and was so responsive in any questions we had throughout the planning process. She also gave us so much information (tips for the ceremony, diagrams, ceremony script examples, name change kits etc.) that made the process so much easier! She helped make our ceremony unique and just the way we wanted. She also took such great pictures and a video of the ceremony and uploaded the NIGHT of so we were able to see some of the great shots right away. We strongly recommend her to everyone!

Mary was our JP on Labor Day Weekend this year. I will tell you she really is CT's top Justice of the Peace. She knows her stuff! She sent us at least 50 wedding scripts that we could pick from and/or customize, which is what we did. She is such a warm and personable person- not only to the groom and I but to each guest at the wedding.
She even went around during cocktail hour after the ceremony, talking to the guests and taking their photos, which she then sent to us, which really meant a lot to us, because my husband and I were off with the professional photographer during cocktail hour so we didn't get to see all the fun stuff our guests were doing!
Mary was also extremely helpful in giving myself, the groom, and our bridal party tips on how to do things so that the ceremony went smoothly. I can't thank her enough for making our wedding so special!

Mary was excellent! I can't say enough about her. Professional yet friendly. She was the first to reply and even called. Mary is accommodating and wants to make your day as special as possible. Cost for Ceremony, Still Video and Pictures is very reasonable. She prepared a customized laser cut portfolio with the personalized vows and certificate printed in a lovely font on elegant blue parchment paper with a gold seal which she gives to you as a gift from her. She will wear robes, a suit or whatever is appropriate. She has several colored robes and can also wear a non-religious stole which also comes in many colors.She even brings music with her and personalizes your Ceremony. When she sends you (Drop Box) video and pics she includes a list for changing your name - info and forms. A daunting task made easier by Mary! She is a notary and offers her services to you ... and it is complimentary. My husband and I just moved here so didn't know where to get married. Mary suggested places and sent info. I have already recommended Mary to a few folks and will continue to do so. I can see why she does so many weddings!

Mary Pugh was great since our first contact with her. She was one of the first Justices of the Peace to answer us back and she not only answered our email, but she called us to know more about what we wanted for our wedding - after that call we knew that her warm personality would be the best to celebrate our big day!
She was also very quick and thoughtful on answering emails and all of our doubts!

During the celebration it was clear to us that she was the best! Very warm person to everyone, very calm and also worried about broadcasting our wedding to our friends and family in Brazil - even them loved her!

We would highly recommend her!

We interviewed Mary because she performed bilingual ceremonies, and booked her immediately because she is an amazing spirit. After a few minutes of talking it felt like we had known each other for years. I've watched over our video multiple times since getting married 6 days ago, and am in awe of how wonderful it was. I've received a number of compliments about how personal the ceremony felt, and many guests were surprised that Mary was not a close friend or family member. I would highly recommend Mary for any wedding type because of her caring personality, attention to detail, and her professionalism!

Mary was SO great. She was helpful throughout the entire process. She adds so much to her services and makes them personal to you! She wrote such a beautiful script and found an even more gorgeous place for our very personal ceremony. She responded to all personal wants and demands and offered endless suggestions. She always responded to emails extremely efficiently and day of got our pictures and video to us within an hour. Being from the south and moving to the north she was so caring and it was like being with a longtime friend. She made us so comfortable and told us many stories to keep us at ease and make us laugh. I would recommend to anyone, big or small ceremony. She will do whatever you need and it is so obvious she cares about what she does! Mary Pugh was caring and reliable and went out of the way to make our day special. Pay attention to her suggestions. IT doesn't matter what they are - I know they will be good ones. She married us 6 years ago. She took pictures and videos and sent them to us later. She prepared a wedding book for us at the time. And now, 6 years later, having lost the photos, I contacted her to see if she might still have them. She emailed them to me within the hour. Mary Pugh is very detail oriented, thoughtful, and classy. Mary served as the Justice of the Peace at our wedding. We found her name online and she had such great reviews, we reached out to talk. She was everything we wanted in a Justice of the Peace. Her many years of experience made it an easy planning process. She offered many options for our ceremony and helped us create the perfect day. She was also a master of the "incognito" - meaning, she knew where the cameras were and did a really good job of moving out of shot for those pictures that you want of just you and your husband at the alter (i.e. our first kiss as husband and wife). I also highly recommend that you do the rehearsal with her. She instructed our bridal party how to walk and when to proceed up and down the aisle so that the timing was right and our photographer had time to capture everyone. Both my husband and I highly recommend Mary C. Pugh as a Justice of the Peach for weddings.

We absolutely loved Mary! She was funny and witty and personable. The ceremony had all the elements I wanted. It was romantic without being sappy, and it had serious and lighthearted moments. Mary showed up early to meet with everyone involved to make sure the ceremony went off perfectly. I didn't have to do anything except walk down the aisle! She tailored the ceremony to be exactly what we wanted. Several guests approached me at the reception to say how much they liked our officiant! I can't recommend her highly enough!

Mary provided excellent service with reasonable price. She sat down with us in a coffee shop to help us choose the best options and customized scripts. She asked a lot of details and really understood what you need. We had some changes on our scripts several days before our wedding (Maybe we were too nervous then). Mary Pugh is excellent. She is very professional and personable. She personalized our beachside sunset wedding ceremony to fit our desired theme. The dedicaton to my dad and sand ceremony was especially memorable. I truly enjoyed every moment of my ceremony. Her fees compared to what she offers is so worth every dollar. I actually found Mary on the knot and I am so glad I did. Her prices were extremely reasonable and the service she provided was excellent. I paid extra for the rehearsal day and am very glad I did. She was on time and gave everyone their instructions. My husband joked that she was like a drill sergeant however after seeing my brothers officiant and how whenever he asked what they should do and she just responded whatever you want I was very happy she told us exactly what to do. Obviously many people have not been through this before so if you don't know what to do where to stand where everyone else should stand etc. It is extremely helpful. Mary always responded to my emails promptly and answered any questions I had. On the wedding day I was extremely happy. She was on time and the ceremony went smoothly. She also video taped our entire ceremony and took many pictures that were sent to us the same night! I would highly recommend her to anyone!

We used Mary for our wedding because she was so enthusiastic when we spoke on the phone. You could tell it was more of a passion for her than just a job. She told us of all of the options that were available to us an ensured that we would get everything the way we wanted. She arrived early to get setup. She was very friendly to everyone there. Mary was awesome! We had a small intimate wedding in the backyard at my mothers house. With about 15 people, she still made the event feel really special by taking videos and photos. Mary brought a camera and great vibe with her to the wedding which I wasn't even expecting! Mary even told us how to pose for the pictures and took the time to capture every detail. Mary was just delightful. The best part was that she was able to say the ceremony in English and Spanish which was very important for me and it went just as I had dreamed! Mary is the best, I called her and she was able to come do my wedding the next day no problem! Fast, friendly, and accommodating. I would recommend Mary to everybody!

We contacted Mary the day before we wanted to get married in a civil ceremony. She was extremely flexible, professional, punctual and so kind! Mary Pugh was the most helpful and pro-active vendor of our entire wedding planning experience. She not only provided us with excellent advice and reading materials leading up to the wedding but also provided so much more than was required of her on the day of the wedding including printing out our readings and vows and taking pictures which she shared with us the next morning. She is incredibly professional and extremely easy to reach in the time leading up to the ceremony which was very helpful in terms of our planning. Mary was such a HUGE help on the one day that I have been waiting my whole life for. She was very professional and the one thing I loved about her is that she responded right away. I was looking around for a Justice of the Peace for our wedding and my friend (and bridesmaid) helped me out big time. We were at work and she googled around Mary's name popped up so I decided to give her a quick email. I emailed several other JP's and did not hear back from one. Right away I had received an email back along with a meeting a few days later.
After meeting Mary my fiancé and I knew she is going to be perfect. We booked her right away. Mary was very helpful throughout the entire process. I was able to read what the ceremony was going to be a few weeks before our wedding day to make sure it was what we would like. Everything was perfect!
Along with performing the ceremony Mary takes pictures along with a video to help remember your day and makes a keepsake of the ceremony for you as well.
I highly recommend Mary to anyone who is looking for a JP

We got married on June 15,2014 and we asked Mary Pugh to be our JP. She did a fantastic job. Mary has a friendly personality and she is an amazing person. My husband and I strongly and without reservation recommend Mary! Not only was Mary extremely well prepared and willing to help with input and guidance, but she was exceptionally patient and personable. Despite our crazy personal and business travel schedules, Mary was helpful and accommodated our changing needs. In the end, we opted for a vintage, classic romantic sunset wedding at Longshore, located in Wesport. Mary’s guidance to find the right scripts and listing inspirational options made our planning an easy and smooth experience. Our experience was smooth and hassle free. I've heard of Mary Pugh through reviews on theknot.com. I am very happy we chose her to be our officiant. She was professional and so sweet. She gave us tips on what we should do and how we should stand during the ceremony. She made us feel comfortable. She also gave us ideas and choices to choose from for our ceremony and vows if we did not have any. She also took some pictures for us and our guests during the wedding and emailed it to us. She also gave us a folder with a copy of our ceremony and vows on the day of our wedding. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for an officiant.

Mary is absolutely great. I reached out to Mary in late September/early October to hire her for my January wedding. From our first phone call, we got along very great and she made me feel comfortable and informed me across the board. Not being familiar with Connecticut she asked what we were interested in and gave us many choices as far as locations, cities, and so forth.

We reserved Mary via Paypal and the moment that she received payment I got a personal drop box filled with photos, forms, hotel/restaurant recommendations, and anything I would need to consider such as vows and different types of ceremonies. Recently, we had to relocate our wedding to closer to home instead of traveling to Connecticut. Reaching out to Mary about our changes in plan, not only was she really pleasant and actually provided a refund of the full amount.

I really loved working with Mary and appreciated how much information she provides. I like to know all my choices and like being able to reach out to someone immediately and I can do that with Mary. She answered whenever I called and always emailed back immediately. I would honestly recommend her to anyone who wanted to get married in that region and we're upset that we had to change our plans because of how much we really enjoyed her.

Same-sex marriage officially began in New Jersey yesterday, October 21st, 2013. The governor withdrew his second appeal (which would have put those getting married in limbo). We really thought it would not happen until 2014. That being said, we're still glad that we chose Connecticut to get married. Darien is a beautiful town, it is only 60 miles from our home, the beach was a perfect setting (although Mother Nature didn't comply . . . it was chilly and drizzling), we had 33 days to arrange our wedding with Mary Pugh. She (and the state of Connecticut) made everything easy and stress free. Connecticut is one of the few states where one can apply for their license and get married in the same day. Mary was always an email or phone call away and always timely getting back to us.

We loved the pictures and video that Mary took for us. The shore-themed ceremony that she penned was just perfect. The wedding package that she provides is a great value, cost-wise.

My Fiancee and I heard of Mary through another gay couple who had used her, so we decided to contact her and get some information back in the spring for our upcoming wedding in October. She responded immediately and was very thorough with everything. She even suggested a town where we could get married on the same day, since the day we chose was important to us! She immediately emailed us all the paper work we would need to fill out so we would have it done ahead of time, and gave specific directions to town hall. She sent us MANY different vow choices, and different nice spots where we could have the ceremony. She took a lot of nice pictures of us and even videoed the ceremony! It was wonderful and I highly recommend her!

Mary was extremely helpful prior to our ceremony by providing us with detailed information about how and where to obtain our marriage license. We flew into CT from FL just to get married.

The wedding service was superb!!! Just the way we asked for it: simple, but sweet!! And the photos Mary took are awesome!!!
