We are so happy we were able to have Kahu Brutus bless our marriage and would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an officiant! My bride and I wanted to do a simple marriage with each other with elements of Hawaiian culture. Although we are not Hawaiian, we understand that the culture of this place is one of the things that makes our home so special and having the most important moment of our lives blessed by Kahu Brutus just felt right. He was super easy to work with when coordinating a time and place. He was easy to talk to and made us both feel comfortable from the moment he arrived to our meeting place. In our planning stages, Kahu Brutus was helpful in guiding us through the cultural significance of different elements of the blessing and again walked us through each action’s meaning while we were being married. He made our experience even more special and we’re so grateful for him! We chose to feed each other a sip of the coconut water and washed each others’ hands with salt. Everything felt complete with the blowing of the pu and we seriously had chicken skin. You will have the best time and feel taken care of with Kahu Brutus through what can be a stressful event. -

Our guests were obsessed with Kelehua as our officiant and the beautiful ceremony she conducted. I think she has a very special way of bringing in Hawaiian elements without making anything performative. Our local and mainland guests alike gave so many compliments about the heartfelt and meaningful ceremony. Every single moment felt so sincere, and we especially loved the vows that Kelehua led us through.
We booked Kelehua as our officiant through The Charming Estate, and I am so happy she was available for our event. From a logistics perspective, she also provides a VERY thorough email with instructions for obtaining our marriage certificate in Hawaii. I really appreciated having all of that info readily available, as it was one less thing to worry about during a hectic planning period. Thank you so much for being part of our special day!!

10/10 Wow we couldn’t have asked for a better officiant! Brutus made our wedding feel so special and he conducted the ceremony in a thoughtful and meaningful way. He defined aloha and Hawaiian words so our out of town guests would be able to follow along, he was playful and kept everyone engaged, and he did a beautiful ʻoli (chant) and blowing of the conch shell. What we also loved was that he spoke about our passed loved ones and this gust of wind came through and it just felt so special and like they were actually present for the ceremony. Our guests and family raved about it being one of the best ceremonies they have ever been a part of and a lot has to do with Brutus. I would highly recommend him to other couples - he took time to get to know us and what we wanted prior to the ceremony and really delivered beyond what we expected. I remember the first time I met Brutus was for dinner with my then fiancé at Nico's Pier in Kailua. It was 2023, possibly early January as my then fiancé and I were getting married in March. We couldn't find an officiant that made us feel peaceful. I was in the middle of bridal stress, work stress, and filming stress and felt like this dinner was just a part of a long list of decisions that needed to be made quickly. I remember during that dinner, Brutus had stopped the conversation to ask how we were doing together. He reminded us that he, like so many other people, were there to make sure our special day was OUR special day. He told us that if we would have him, he was there to make sure it would be the two of us with him guiding us through the vows that would last us through our lifetime together. That was all my husband and I needed from Brutus to know that he was for us. Fast forward to our wedding day. My father walked me down the aisle to my husband and, in true dad fashion, got nervous and tried to leave the ceremony early. Brutus improvised around my father and made the moment memorable with everyone laughing. What could've been an awkward moment became a beloved memory that my husband and I still talk about to this day. The ceremony itself, I didn't realize until recently, became a starting point for the journey that my husband and I are currently on. Brutus had put our wedding bands in a beautiful shell, had brought pa`akai, and rain water from his home for our wedding ceremony. He addressed not only us but our family and friends during the ceremony, making such an event with so many people feel intimate. And now we flash forward again to December 2025. My husband and I have been working in the Hawaii film industry for over a decade and have finally tried our own solo venture with a short film. The day before we were started filming, we knew we needed someone to bless the production. We both immediately thought of Brutus. We called him in the late afternoon and he was there in the early morning the next day. The entire production met to pray with him for no injuries and good things for the production. Again, he showed up with his pa`akai, his rain water from his home, and a very specific shell. I wanted to especially include that picture because it's the same shell that held our wedding bands the day he married us. It is those details that I believe set Brutus apart from many other people. He found a way to personalize blessings based on the situations. The blessings had everything to do with what he told my husband and I at that first dinner back in January 2023: he, like so many other people, were there to make sure our special day was OUR special day. If you're lucky, you get a friend like Brutus who will be there to make sure your special day is really and truly your special day. -

Flawless and Beautifully Personalized
We are so grateful we chose Brutus Labenz as our wedding officiant. He went above and beyond to make our ceremony truly personal and meaningful. Brutus took the time to understand both of our cultures and helped us incorporate them in the most respectful and beautiful way.
He guided me through writing and performing my own original oli (Hawaiian chant), which became one of the most powerful moments of our entire day. He also helped us honor my wife’s heritage by facilitating our jumping of the broom, and he did it with cultural care, intention, and joy.
Brutus was incredibly professional, warm, and thoughtful throughout the entire process. He helped craft a ceremony that was heartfelt, fun, and uniquely us. We honestly can’t imagine our wedding being any better than what he created for us.

We had the absolute honor of having Kahu Brutus officiate our wedding ceremony at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch, and it was one of the most beautiful and meaningful parts of our day. We really appreciated his overall sincerity, warmth and spirituality, especially since we wanted to make sure to have a non-denominational wedding but was still heartfelt. He took the time to craft a ceremony that was not only authentic, but personal and full of aloha.
One of the most touching moments was when Kahu Brutus made a reference to my husband's father, who has passed away. Having that moment of silence to honor his memory was incredibly moving and set the tone for the rest of the ceremony. It felt intentional and respectful, and we will always cherish that moment forever.
The ceremony itself was emotional and powerful, amplified by the stunning backdrop of Kualoa Ranch. Kahu Brutus' words resonated deeply and brought us and our guests to (happy) tears, and even after, many of our guests mentioned what a moving job he did.
We are grateful to Kahu Brutus for creating such a meaningful and unforgettable start to our wedding. We would definitely recommend him again and again. -

I couldn't possibly say enough wonderful things about MYIH and Kahu Brutus.

Kahu Brutus is one of the best officiants you can hire in Hawai’i. Our guests raved about how beautiful he spoke and conducted the ceremony w/ traditional Native Hawaiian elements. As a Native Hawaiian myself, my ‘ohana was most grateful that I incorporated those elements in my wedding ceremony. My (now) husband’s guests were unaware of the traditional Native Hawaiian elements and what they entailed, but Kahu Brutus did an AMAZING JOB explaining and educating our guests. He also added personal elements of my family and of our relationship into the ceremony. He also cracked some nice jokes throughout, which we absolutely loved. AND he pronounced my (now) husband’s name correctly! YAY! -

Kelehua was the officiant for my aunt's wedding in 2021. We were visiting from the mainland and had no previous thoughts of having a wedding in Hawaii. It all changed after that ceremony.
Kelehua is truly the best at what she does. My husband and I both hate being in the spotlight, but she did a great job making us feel comfortable. Her presence was so calming before, during, and after the wedding ceremony. The ceremony itself was so beautiful and we are so happy we chose her to officiate our wedding.
I would highly recommend booking with her. If I could do it again, I would definitely be choosing her again. -

We got married in Hawaii in March, and although it’s Hawaii and would’ve been beautiful anyway, Kelehua made it the most amazing, heartfelt, beautiful ceremony. If we could do it all over again, we would - thanks to her for bringing the spirit of Aloha to our guests and our hearts.
My family is from the islands and we had other family fly in from Canada. The comment we got the most about our ceremony, was Kelehua. Everyone felt she made it extremely intimate and made everyone feel like Ohana. She is truly gifted. Her voice is unbelievably soothing and we got lost in her words.
If you are getting married in Hawaii, book Kelehua immediately. You will not regret it as she will create memories and imprints on your heart!

A true Hawaiian ceremony
Kahu Brutus gave us a wonderful and authentic Hawaiian ceremony that we and our guests absolutely loved. It was very unique and special. My husband and I instantly felt so calm and comfortable in the presence of Kahu Brutus. He has a natural gift to make people feel at ease and be in the present moment. We were nervous to be at the altar during our ceremony, but it wasn’t like that at all! The nerves and tension went away when he greeted us with an aloha that we all repeated back loudly and it was so fun. My husband and I felt honored to participate in this ceremony and engage in his culture. Our guests whom many were first-timers in Hawaii fell in love with this beautiful state. Best Decision
I heard Kelehua on a podcast and what stuck in my mind was when she mentioned- so many people spending time and money on the reception, but they don't spend the time planning/thinking about the ceremony. She was so right! Kelehua made us feel comfortable right away and her follow my lead made the ceremony go smoothly and ease any anxiety. I loved how she incorporated Hawaiian traditions and turned the most important part of the day memorable. MULTIPLE guests told us how much they loved our officiant and ceremony, which is rare considering most ceremonies are not memorable. Can not recommend her enough, she is a special soul. -

I was absolutely blown away by our ceremony performed by Kahu Brutus. So many guests commented that it was the most beautiful ceremony they had witnessed. It was moving, at times funny, and poignant. I laughed and cried. ;) Kahu Brutus helped us to ground ourselves in that space and really be present for that moment, which was much needed to calm my nerves after walking down the aisle! He explained the elements of Hawaiian culture as he incorporated them into the ceremony, using personal anecdotes and stories in a way that was engaging and fun. Kelehua officiated our wedding and Ellsworth played the ukulele in a magical beach setting. The ceremony was so inspirational, moving and filled with love! Deciding on an officiant had to have been my hardest decision since they play such a big part in our day. I am so thankful I chose Kelehua Kawai. Getting to the venue the day of our wedding was chaotic because the weather closed down a main road so we were racing and stressed out. Once we got there my photographer was telling my wedding party to be in one place and my wedding planner was telling them to be in another so everyone was confused and frustrated. Then we lost our vow books so people were scrambling to find those. Our whole vibe was off but then Kelehua approached us to quickly touch base and all of the bad vibes and worry went away. Her voice and presence provided tranquility. We didn't find our vow books in time so we just followed her lead and it was perfect. I truly don't think our ceremony could have been any more beautiful. I can't recommend her enough! -

We booked Kelehua as our officiant for our wedding and she made our ceremony a DREAM! I can honestly say that our ceremony would not have been as amazing as it was without her. Every single person in our wedding bragged on how amazing she was.. And multiple times! She was so professional, she made our ceremony so intimate, and included all of the Hawaiian culture elements that you would want in your dream wedding in Hawaii. I was so nervous on what to do and when to do it but as soon as we got there and spoke to her before I walked down the isle she made me feel so comfortable, relaxed, and I knew she would handle everything and make it perfect. We got married in Ko Olina in October and we wanted a light and meaningful ceremony. Maila graciously met with us while we were visiting Oahu, months ahead of the wedding. We didn't have any specific requests (religious or cultural traditions) but she asked questions to get a feel for what we wanted and didn't want. We trusted her professionalism and knew her friendly, easy-going attitude would align with our needs. As we expected, Maila is an amazing performer and she delivered a beautifully written ceremony that exceeded my expectations. Many of our guests commented on how amazing she was and I could not agree more. On another note, that I feel people fail to mention about their officiants is their attire. She obviously has great taste and understood the assignment because she chose an amazing cream skirt suit which matched the aesthetic of the venue perfectly. It was very us and I couldn’t be happier. No one typically mentions the ceremony as one of the best parts of the wedding but she changed the experience for many. We would highly recommend MYIH, especially Maila! -

It's difficult to accurately describe just how special and beautiful our vow renewal ceremony was thanks to Kahu Brutus, but we'll try. We began with a short phone call with him, maybe 10-15 minutes, to discuss what we hoped to include based on the options he offers, and his extensive experience officiating weddings, We talked about wanting to honor the place we live (Hawaii), without being disrespectful, as well as our desire to pay tribute to family members who were no longer with us, or who were unable to attend due to the distance. Kahu Brutus seemed to understand right away what we wanted to convey, listening well, and making helpful, informed suggestions. We never imagined such a brief conversation would turn into such an incredible and memorable ceremony than we could have possibly hoped for! He did such an amazing job, seamlessly marrying (pun intended!) all the aspects we discussed in a way that was extraordinary, and felt significant in celebrating our story. Kelehua - The Best Officiant We Could've Asked For
Booking with Marry You In Hawaii was a great and smooth experience. Loren was super sweet and helped us through the booking process. We were able to hop on a phone call and chat with Kelehua prior to booking her as our officiant which made us felt very comfortable in moving forward with her.
During the ceremony, we were super nervous and emotional but Kelehua really calmed us down. She really spread the aloha spirit and we couldn't be more happy with how the ceremony turned out. It was an incredible experience and all of our guests were raving about how much they love her and our ceremony! -

When you can find an officiant who’s willing to climb up Kokohead 6:00 in the morning and still have enough breaths to sing her beautiful songs for us… SIMPLY AMAZING. While looking for an officiant in Oahu for our elopement, we wanted a true “Hawaiian experience”. Kelehua more than delivered! She was extremely gracious with rescheduling our initial date, and even though our photographer ran a little behind schedule, she never rushed us. Seriously, what an amazing, genuinely sweet lady!
We hiked a little ways up the trail at the Koko Crater Botanical Garden and began the ceremony near our favorite cacti. From the song/chant performed by Kelehua, to the lei exchange, it was a romantic and memorable day. She truly goes above and beyond what most people would expect from an officiant!

We had originally booked Maila to officiate our small backyard ceremony for a Saturday, but with changing COVID guidelines, we ended up moving our ceremony to the Wednesday prior, with only 24 hours notice. AMAZING! Felt like part of their ohana!
They helped us every step of the way through our Covid wedding!!
These are the kindest people EVER!! They really make you feel like part of their ohana!!! And I can never thank them enough for everything they've done for us! I found Marry You in Hawaii through our photographer who greatly recommened them and I can see why! Loren responded to my email quickly, she helped us though all the wedding legalities and kept in touch the whole way through. She genuinely wanted to get to know us and help make our wedding go as smoothly as possible, which it did--and we got married during Covid!!! Covid brought on alot of new restrictions and immediate changes; we literally ended up bumping up our date and had to get married in a brand new location and in less than twentyfour hours!! What would have been an extremely stressful situation was nothing of the sorts due to Married You in Hawaii's responsiveness, flexibility, and genuinely caring attitude! That next day Rev. Kimo was there at the new location ahead of time and completley ready to go:)
They seriously are the kindest people!! Rev. Kimo guided us through the whole ceremony and made our wedding day just so much fun!
Because of Covid we weren't aloud any guests, so, I video called my parents and "walked" down the aisle with my dad on my phone! Rev. Kimo asked "who gives this bride away?" And my parents answered through the phone "we do!"
This was seriously such a memorable and fun experience.
We were thrown some pretty crazy curveballs due to Covid, our wedding could have been such a disaster if it wasn't for Married You in Hawaii! Again, I will never be able to thank them enough for everything they've done for us, they are truly amazing. -

We decided in less than 24 hours to elope on our 1 year engagement. We flew 6 hours and got ready in less than 30 minutes with only what had been in our bags.. while on the road for a month.. and he performed the most beautiful untraditional and intimate ceremony of our dreams.
John serenaded us with classic Elvis songs on the ukulele as we exchanged leis and vows. Our elopement was filled with laughter and beautiful words from John. We are still beaming and we cannot recommend John and the Mary You in Hawaii team enough. Thank you thank you!! -

Pastor John helped us shape our ceremony the way we wanted. He provided fantastic suggestions and guidance to help us make the ceremony feel like it was true to us as a couple. - [ ] If it wasn’t for a random stranger on daBus my husband and I would not have found Pastor John - and our wedding was twice as amazing thanks to him and MYIH. We were planning a somewhat small scale wedding and we needed to find someone to marry us FAST. The options presented to us was looking grim but if it wasn’t for (my belief) God and a chance encounter we got connected to a company with great officiants and great business practices. Pastor John was so personable and communicative. He even bought a tie just to match our wedding! He was on time, got our names correct, had tissues ready, went above and beyond and directed us throughout the whole ceremony and it flowed seamlessly - especially since we didn’t even have a rehearsal. Even my friend/photographer was excited to see it was Pastor John officiating our wedding because the way he speaks and times the wedding allowed him to get those once in a lifetime shots. For all my future friends and family getting ready I will always talk about Pastor John and MYIH.

Unforgettable ceremony, not a dry eye in the house!
We have had an amazing experience using Marry You in Hawaii! Kahu Brutus la Benz held a perfect ceremony for us that encompassed our love for one another and the Hawaiian culture, while engaging our guests and walking us through several stages of intimacy throughout our time with him. Our guests had never experienced the very personal touches within a ceremony before and rave about how intense and beautiful everything was anytime we reminisce on our special day. We can say confidently that our day could not have been as special had we used ANYONE else for this occasion. We also worked with Loren in setup and ceremony details. Loren gave us the best advice reminding us that our whole day, although it is meant for the two of us will go quickly and be filled with memories among friends and family so the ceremony is the one moment of the day where the focus is entirely on us and is meant to be in our vision. The most amazing wedding ever!
I cannot begin to convey exactly how happy we were with the ceremony by Marry You in Hawaii. My husband Tom and I travelled from Australia for a destination wedding at the Halekulani in Waikiki in November 2018 and were married by Kahu Brutus.
Every single moment, every thoughtful touch was beyond our expectations. I really mean that. We chatted with Brutus by skype before the wedding and he helped craft a ceremony that reflected our personalities, our beliefs and our love while honouring and respecting the culture of the Hawaiian people and the place we were married. All our guests were spellbound, especially by Brutus’ singing and many have said it was one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies they have ever seen.
It was the one point in the day that did not completely fly by - we both felt that we were able to truly take in every moment and we are so thankful for that.
We would absolutely recommend Marry You in Hawaii to everyone.
