We met Paul as he was listed as one of the wedding vendors for the Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa. Meeting Paul resulted in a series of a change of events that led us to hire Krysta of Over the Moon Events & Experiences, for whom we also wrote a review, as a wedding planner, although she was so much more.
Paul was an amazing officiant. He worked with us for months before the wedding date getting to know us as individuals and as a couple to perfect our vows and when the bid day came, Paul made those vows even more meaningful than we could have expected. Paul was simply incredible and made the ceremony that much better by speaking from his heart as to who we both are as individuals and who we are as a couple, and now a married couple. Paul is the absolute best choice for a wedding officiant.

My husband and I loved working with Paul for our ceremony and private vows. We were working with him remotely from New York before our CA wedding and he was always responsive and easy to connect with. We had several conversations ahead of the day to get to know him and help him create a meaningful and personal ceremony. He also had great guidance for us on our vows. Paul was the best officiant for our wedding! We loved how passionate he was with weddings and the first thing we noted was that he was a reader and a writer like we were! Paul was very thorough in our conversations and asked very intentional questions and it was clear that he was listening and taking great notes on us. And whenever we’d talk, he would remember the little details we talked about even though we know he’s working with so many other couples!
What we liked best about Paul was that he wanted to meet us in person before the wedding for an interview that would help him create the perfect ceremony for us. This gave us the chance to get to know him very well and for him to see us physically and emotionally connected to each other as we talked about our love for each other. He made observations about us that we weren’t aware of and was able to create such a beautiful ceremony from that amazing interview. And he is so systematic, where before we met, he provided homework - reflection time in which he wanted us to go back in time in our relationship and really uncover what we loved and were thankful for. It also helped us with our vows and love letters to each other that made everyone cry during the ceremony.
He even suggested and sent readings over that he felt spoke to our relationship and we found that so thoughtful! Not to mention he really knew his stuff when he walked us through the marriage license process which was a lot more confusing than we anticipated!
Paul was also just so helpful during the entire process and was completely dedicated to making changes and helping us have the best ceremony of our lives. We can’t thank him enough. If Paul is available for your wedding date - BOOK HIM! You will not regret it! I don’t think any other officiant is able to pull off even half the magic that he did!

We would highly recommend Paul Howell for your wedding. He was very responsive to emails and when we met him over zoom he was friendly and so welcoming which is what we wanted for our wedding.
Day of the wedding Paul's calming presence and experience with weddings really shone. Any hiccups before or the ceremony didn't concern him at all which brought a very calming presence to us and our guests. His ceremony was fantastic and his reading of the Elements of Love was very thoughtful and suited us well from his recommendation.
I would highly recommend Paul Howell as your officiant he will make sure to make your day feel as special as it deserves to be!

We had originally hoped to have a friend or family officiate our wedding but could not settle on who would be the right fit so we started looking for an officiant online. After reading Paul's reviews we reached out and he arranged a time for us to chat via video. He was so easy to talk to and seemed truly invested in learning about our love story. Once he was hired it was easy to communicate and Paul provided several options for our vows which he was open to collaborating with us on to fit our needs. The day of the ceremony Paul was so gracious and came to check in with both of us before the ceremony started. He did such a great job bringing our story to life and there was no shortage of tears and smiles. A Wonderful Choice To Officiate Our Wedding
My husband and I had nothing but a positive experience working with Paul. From the beginning, he was always willing to make time for us to answer any questions we had and even conducted a formal interview with us over the phone in order to craft vows that were unique to us. He presented us with multiple options for vows, and even let us combine types of vows to suit our needs. Everything sounded great and I had little need to modify anything in the vows; he was very flexible however and was willing to make any edits we desired. We originally wanted to do a rehearsal the day before the wedding which we scheduled with Paul. We later determined that our ceremony would be very simple and this was not necessary- Paul was fine with this and did not try to charge us for canceling the rehearsal. On our wedding day, Paul arrived well in advance of the ceremony in case we needed anything and officiated for us very skillfully. He also filed our marriage license for us afterwards in the county we reside in. We highly recommend Paul for any couple's wedding ceremony.

Paul is nothing short of amazing. He is kind and genuine. We found Paul on The Knot and Wedding Wire and he was highly recommended by our wedding planner Jade Preciado.
We had two phone consultations with him prior to our wedding ceremony. During the first one we got to talk about his service and his process and decide if we were a good fit. During the second call my fiancé and I both spoke with him. We shared our love story and some things that make us unique as a couple.
Just by using these two short interactions, Paul, created the perfect wedding ceremony. It was personalized for us and I got to pick from about three different sets of vows. He took all our requests into consideration and he was easy to work with.

Paul officiated our wedding in May 2022 at CaliPaso Winery in Paso Robles and it was truly wonderful. He crafted a personalized wedding ceremony completely based on our unique love story, personalities, and values. He was able to do this after just one simple phone call where he asked questions to get to know us. He also gave us examples of how we could structure the ceremony and examples of various formats we could use for our vows, which helped us decide what we wanted the ceremony to be like.
Someone at our wedding even asked if he knew us, which speaks volumes to how well crafted the ceremony was to our personalities and relationship.
I highly recommend working with Paul if you are looking for a non-religious, personalized ceremony!

An officiant who will truly make your ceremony special
My now-husband and I wrestled with who to choose as our officiant, because we wanted someone who could really create a special ceremony and we thought that only a family member or close friend could do this for us. We were wrong! We found Paul through our photographer's recommendation, and we are so happy we did. From speaking with Paul over the phone after contacting him the first time, we knew that we were in good hands. He is extremely personable, warm, and kind, and it shows in everything he does. Paul took the time to get to know us over a casual coffee, during which we got to tell our story, share our love, and answer some more specific questions. From this, he gave us examples of "I Dos" and helped us craft our own personal vows. We also wrote our own personal expressions, which Paul printed on nice paper and had prepared for us at the ceremony. Beyond that, Paul took what he learned about us and brought it together for the most beautiful ceremony. We had no idea what he would say (beyond the vows and personal expressions), which made it even more special. We listened to his speaking and we just felt so seen. Paul captured our love so perfectly. In addition, he is eloquent, confident, calm, and professional. He set the mood perfectly and made it all very special. In addition to the beautiful ceremony, he also took the lead on our rehearsal so it was all very easy. If you need an officiant, look no further! Five stars all around
We discovered Paul after seeing what an amazing job he did officiating at a friend's wedding. Our plan had been to have him do the same for us in Marin County, but when both our original plans for August 2020 and even our contingency for 2021 had to be scrapped due to pandemic restrictions, Paul was extremely understanding and flexible.
We ended up getting married in rural Minnesota instead of California, but because we were bummed about not having Paul as our officiant, we had the idea to have him prepare a ceremony to be read for us by someone local. Although this was certainly an unusual request (and a first for Paul), he was helpful and professional at every step of the way, sending us suggested readings and working with us to help combine our diverse traditions into a seamless ritual.
He completed the written ceremony with plenty of time to spare, so that we could coordinate everything out of state. Hearing it for the first time at our wedding was blissful; we had a very naturally flowing ceremony that was as fun for our local officiant to perform as it was for us to take part in it. The only way this could have gone any better is if Paul were there to do it in person.
We would 110% recommend Paul to anyone looking to have a unique, beautiful ceremony. He was an absolute joy to work with.

Paul was absolutely amazing officiant for our ceremony! It all started from when I sent him an email at 8 in the morning and by 9 we had a chatted on the phone! I was incredibly grateful for his responsiveness. His flexibility for our ceremony was also exceptional! But really the best part was the absolutely meaningful message Paul created for my husband and I. Due to COVID-19 we ultimately decided to have a ceremony with just the three of us. Paul still took the time to write such a meaningful message that we cant wait to replay for years to come! Wow! We are deeply grateful to Paul for orchestrating our beautiful, personal and fun wedding ceremony. We didn’t know Paul at first, but he had a plan. It all started with homework. Yipe! Paul was simply incredible from start to finish. When my fiance told me that we had an hour long appointment over FaceTime with Paul, I told her there was no way it would take that long. Boy was I wrong. We talked to Paul for over an hour and a half and the entire time it was like talking to an old friend and we just had to catch him up on all the details of our relationship. The follow up service of providing tons of reading material and a wide range of vowels to choose from that felt vary tailored to our relationship. The ceremony was expertly executed and the speech Paul had written was beautiful and so well spoken. Can't recommend Paul enough.

We lucked out with Paul as our officiant through an elopement package. After I received Paul's name I checked out reviews & I was so happy to read all the positive experiences other couple have had with Paul. He lived up to all the hype! Thoughtful officiant - just right for us!
I contacted Paul through his website only about 6 weeks prior to our ceremony. We were planning a small wedding (20 guests) at Allegretto Vineyard Resort in Paso Robles. Paul was very warm and thoughtful over the phone, and helped guide us through creating the type of ceremony and vows we wanted - which was much appreciated since this was a first wedding for both of us and we had no idea what we were doing! He arranged a lengthier phone interview with both of us to detail what we like about each other, stories about our relationship, etc. that he could use in the ceremony. He then sent us MANY examples of vows other couples had chosen to write for each other, to help give us a launching point for writing our own. We touched base a few times before the ceremony, and he arrived early on the day ready to roll. He tracked down our witness to sign the marriage certificate and made everything easy and stress-free on us. We found it very easy to work with him on our short timeline, and I got compliments from our guests on how lovely the ceremony was and also that they particularly liked the officiant (which I don't think a lot of people say about weddings so that was really meaningful). I wouldn't hesitant to recommend him to any friend or family member for another wedding.

From the minute we first began speaking with Paul about our wedding ceremony, we were taken with his genuine and thoughtful demeanor. Better than we Imagined
Amy and I are very non-traditional 'wedding people' in that we didn't want the traditional flow of a wedding ceremony. There were some aspects of the nuptials that were important to us, but we mostly wanted a brief, simple, and yet very meaningful ceremony.
Shortly after we contacted Paul to express our interest in having him officiate our ceremony, we had a telephone conversation to get to know each other. The conversation with Paul was easy. He's a caring and skilled communicator and put us at ease right away.
The day of the wedding he called to ensure everything was going as planned. When he arrived he spent time getting to know us and our guests. The ceremony itself was perfect. He met and exceeded all our expectations (and we had a few). He also was thoughtful enough to integrate the attendees into the ceremony, so they too felt part of the bond.
We highly recommend Paul and are still very grateful to have had included him in our special day.

Book paul before it's too late! He's one of a kind!
Our first meeting with Paul was at a little coffee shop which set the mood for our wedding planning. Working with Paul was the best decision we made. Paul had many helpful suggestions and tips for writing our vows and poems to be read. Paul even asked our preferences on his attire.
Since John and I had been together for 28 years, we wanted to have a ceremony that celebrated our life together yet, was still a wedding. Once Paul knew we were having our wedding at the Fess Parker Vineyard in Los Olivos, Paul suggested having a wine toast during our ceremony which truly put a different spin on our ceremony that was magical and perfect! We purchased wine from the vineyard and brought our toasting glasses and laid out on the top of a wine barrel, which made for amazing pictures.
For me, I hate when you book something and never hear from that person again. Paul does not do that. If he is busy on someone else's wedding, he'll answer you and let you know he'll get back with you, he does not just ignore you, which as a bride put my mind at ease. Once our wedding was 1 week away, Paul continued to check in for any changes and to just let us know he was ready. We never felt that we were out of contact with Paul.
Paul, John and I thank you for taking the time to meet with us and understanding our 28 year love story. The ceremony you planned for us was perfect from beginning to end.

Paul was the perfect choice to perform are small but special ceremony. He has a way of using the right words to paint such a beautiful picture encompassing the uniqueness of the relationship. Book him now before it’s too late! Paul was a great officiant. He’s busy for a reason. When you meet him you will feel right at ease. He took his time with us and listened to our story. He asks the right questions and gets to know not only about you, but also gets to know who you are as individuals and as a couple. The ceremony itself was great. He is well spoken. Both solemn and funny. He knows his business. He will craft the ceremony to your wants and will offer plenty of great guidance if you aren’t sure what you want. We were genuinely moved by his words. Paul is easily accessible and stayed in contact with us from the time we met through the day of the ceremony. You can’t go wrong with Paul as your officiant.

Happy to have found Paul to marry us!
We were coming from San Diego to Paso Robles to elope. I found Paul online and I am very happy I did. Paul helped my new husband and I to choose our vows and Paul spent time with me on the phone and made me feel very comfortable with his calm demeanor. Paul met us in plenty of time on the night we were married to go over the small details. I would definitely refer Paul to other couples!!

Best Officiant on the Central Coast
Paul was an amazing officiant (and our quasi-wedding planner!). We were looking for an officiant for a simple wedding somewhere near Paso Robles between Christmas and New Year's. It was our second marriages and we wanted the ceremony to be as much about our union as the union of our kids into our new family. Paul guided us through every step of the planning, helped us prepare our vows, suggested ideas on how to include the kids, referred us to a great photographer and location, and even suggested a great Italian restaurant for our wedding day dinner. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a personal and professionally performed marriage, and want it done well.

Perfect Officiant for your Perfect Day
Look no further, you've found the perfect officiant for your perfect day! My, now, husband and I were looking for an officiant and came across Paul. Paul was the first to call back and emails that were sent were responded within a timely manner. We had a one Skype interview with Paul and I swear he captured us perfectly. During the wedding weekend, Paul was there for the rehearsal, gave us a clear walk through of the event and even joked around with our families. The big wedding day- Paul was perfect! He came up with a saying that our families will probably use for the rest of our lives but Paul captured that and made our wedding, light, fun, funny and honestly, the best day ever. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Paul every time.

Wonderful!
Paul was a delight to work with. We booked him months ago in preparation for our November wedding. We were unsure of where to find an officiant and luckily WeddingWire helped us find Paul. He spoke to us months ago and began to write our dream ceremony. The day of, he brought us all to tears by perfectly capturing who we are as a couple and what it meant for all our family/friends being there. He also incorporated a unique Tequila ceremony into our wedding which we adored. I could go on and on about how much we loved having him but I’ll stop here. If you need an officiant, look no further.

The Perfect Ceremony
My husband and I could not have imagined a more perfect ceremony than the one Paul wrote up for us.
We were very set on a non religious ceremony, but didn't want the ceremony to be any less special or touching because of it. Neither of us had any idea what to expect, but the final outcome was more than we could have imaged up ourselves. Paul perfectly portrayed my husband and I, and what we mean to each other, and the flow and length was perfect.
We received so many positive comments about what an amazing job Paul did from all of our guests!

It Wouldn’t have Happened Right Without Paul
Paul met with us and interviewed us and gave us a beautiful introduction to our wedding party. Without him, the venue would not have been as well executed. A Thoughtful Ceremony
We really enjoyed working with Paul. We live across the country so Paul was happy to jump on phone calls or Skype with us during the process. He provided helpful examples for us to write our personal expressions and suggested including our parents in the ceremony through readings which my mom was very excited about. Paul really does provide a meaningful wedding. He works to get to know couples and delivers a thoughtful ceremony.

Perfect Wedding in the Redwoods
Paul was the perfect officiant.
But first a little backstory about our wedding.
Me and my fiancée (now wife), eloped to California from Austria, Europe.
Paul helped us in every way imaginable. He was there for us almost 24/7.
He gave us information about the wedding permit/licensing; he helped us choosing the perfect venue for our ceremony and helped us securing the permit for the venue (we got married in the redwoods).
For the ceremony itself, Paul was perfect. He had this amazing speech prepared, which felt unique and authentic and he guided us through with such a calm, friendly charisma. We’re grateful, that Paul was part of our special day.

My husband and I just got married on 8/18 in Pismo Beach. Paul was extremely accommodating and was a pleasure to work with! He walked us through the entire process, even providing vow & reading samples to make our ceremony complete. Paul truly catered to our ceremony to incorporate bits and pieces of what makes our relationship - simply us! That is actually what attracted us to work with Paul in the first place! Unlike many others in the business, Paul scheduled a good amount of time to speak with us to ask questions about our love story, really getting to know us. Since we didn't want our ceremony to be religious, crafting it more around our unique story and love was a wonderful alternative that worked for us. Even during our wedding rehearsal, he was patient, personable and offered great guidance. We would highly recommend Paul to officiate your wedding - you will NOT be disappointed. We live in Texas and our wedding was in California. So, as you can imagine, planning remotely can be a bit daunting and nerve wracking. Paul did a great job with our ceremony. We are both non-religious and did a good job creating a meaningful script for the ceremony and incorporating things about us. He even did a good job fielding awkward comments from my grandmother, who thought he was a pastor (haha). Out wedding was at the beach during a big camping trip with family and knowing he had the ceremony taken care of really helped my stress level. Everything turned out perfect and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for someone in the area that specializes in non-religious ceremonies.

Chad and I were fortunate enough to have Paul officiate our wedding, and we couldn't be happier. From the start we could tell we were dealing with someone who cared about knowing us - knowing about our relationship. We lived across the country from the location of our central California wedding, and Paul made our discussions work by phone, Skype, and email. He got a sense our relationship, what kind of ceremony we envisioned, and then he provided us suggestions for potential readings, and different styles of vows (both traditional and contemporary). With his help we didn't have to worry about the ceremony itself, and it came together perfectly with a reading from a friend, a wine ceremony (because we love wine and wineries), contemporary vows, and personal expressions that we read to one another. After the ceremony he offered to help wrangle up family and friends for photos - which was well above and beyond his call of duty. And finally, just a week or so after the wedding he sent us a package with copies of our personal statements on lovely stock, and a card wishing us the best.
We couldn't be happier with our experience working with him, and we would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for a wedding officiant for the central coast of California.

I was so thankful to have found Paul. He took great care in getting to know us, our love story, and how we wanted the ceremony to be. He was extremely organized, detail oriented, and quick to respond leading up to the wedding. On the big day he put everyone at ease and at home. Every detail was perfect! He even mailed us copies of our vows and the ribbons we used during the ceremony! Highly recommend.
