Best family portrait session ever!

We did a family portrait session with Marissa and it was so wonderful. I always feel so awkward with portraits, but she set us all at ease, even my squiggly 3.5 year old, and magically captured some beautiful photos of our family that I know we will treasure forever. She was so warm and had a relaxed vibe that made the entire experience feel seamless and comfortable. I’m telling all my engaged friends to hire her for their weddings!💛

Marissa is truly an artist and so easy to work with

Marissa is a truly gifted wedding photographer. She captured the most beautiful photos of my wedding and her energy is so calming, she was such a pleasure to work with. Her editing style is gorgeous - you can see it in all of her work. I was able to relax and really embrace the moments during our portraits, which I always have a hard time doing. I would work with Marissa again and again. I cannot recommend her enough!!

Best photographer in Southern California!

Our family portraits came out beyond our expectations. Marissa was effortlessly able to engage, direct, and capture our blended family which ranges from toddlers to teenagers—showing everyone in their best light. Our package featured posed and candid photos that portrayed our family’s personality with the beautiful backdrop of the Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. An added bonus to this experience was Marissa’s quick turnaround time in getting the photos back for family holiday cards. This was a positive experience with a priceless outcome—even the teenagers have agreed we should do this again next year. Thank you Marissa Daly!

A great photographer, from a guy's perspective

I'd like to give a big vote of confidence to Marissa's photography. As a guy, I often feel awkward having my photo taken, especially posed shots. Marissa made the entire process painless and dug out some absolutely amazing images of my entire family - including our young kids. We hired Marissa to take family portraits and her vibe was great, getting everyone to loosen up and be truly happy during the process. She never missed a special moment.

As a photographer myself, I'm often hypercritical of other photographers - from their gear, to their composition, to their attitudes, and beyond. Marissa brings the right equipment and a great demeanor, and frames shots incredibly well - a true professional.

It was money well spent to hire Marissa and I would do so again for any important event.

Marissa Joy Daly - Absolute No Brainer to Hire

I couldn't have been happier with our choice to hire Marissa to shoot our wedding. We are very particular about photography (we interviewed 11 photographers) and she was above and beyond the best we could could find. We were looking for two main qualities in a photographer. First, her work had to be amazing. Second, she had to be someone we would want to spend the majority of our wedding day with as you see your photographer a lot!

On the first note, we were blown away by Marissa's work. She is a true artist. She has such an amazing ability to capture a moment...even the ones you do not know are occurring. She has an eye that cannot be taught and the end results are just beautiful. During our interviewing, we found that photographers are either great at "moments" but their formal shots weren't anything special or the opposite. With Marissa, she is truly wonderful at both.

In addition to her work, she is truly a joy to be around. I wish we lived closer so I could force her to be friends with us :). She made me feel so calm and taken care of on my wedding day. She made our families feel comfortable, scoped all the sites in advance and just made the process seamless. Even when our guests picked her up on the dance floor, she just went with it. She was so fun to have at our reception.

We just received our photos and they are amazing. I can't believe what a great job she did. Do not even question hiring her! I will be hiring Marissa for lots of family photos in the future. Her work is just magic!

Marissa and her work are a DREAM!

Hiring Marissa was the single best decision made for our wedding, aside from the actually getting married part. Every interaction with her was supportive, kind, and thoughtful. We got married at a unique spot with a small group of family—and Marissa was the perfect photographer for the occasion. She was thoughtful - especially given one of us was particularly camera shy! - and creative - leveraging the space in ways that were beyond my comprehension. She also turned the photos ready at record speed despite what I’m sure was a time-consuming editing. We are grateful to have such special pictures from Marissa to cherish our day for decades to come.

Marissa is the absolute BEST!

First of all, Marissa is one of the most talented photographers out there. Seriously, she's one of the best there is. She absolutely crushed our wedding photography and gave us TONS of memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We gush about them nearly on a daily basis. Trust us, you will NOT be disappointed with the product. At all. You'd be lucky to have her capture your wedding day. On top of that, we absolutely LOVED just having Marissa be around for every moment. She is one of the kindest and warmest people you could ever have around you. She made everyone feel so incredibly comfortable around the camera. Our families raved about her approach, her personality and her ability to capture moments no one even saw coming. She can make any kid stand still and smile for a photo on command, too...which is arguably one of her most impressive skills. The entire process with Marissa was top notch, professional and smooth. When you work with her, you know you're working with both a world class photographer and an amazing human being. We never had to worry about a thing with her in our corner. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Truly incredible wedding photographer

Marissa is truly talented at all aspects of her job. We could not have imagined a better experience working with a wedding photographer. Stunning photos for our dream wedding

Marissa was truly such a joy to work with! Not only were our wedding photos beyond stunning, she is such sweetheart in person. We are so lucky to have had Marissa as our wedding photographer. She made the entire process so easy and the photographs she took were incredible... we have received so many compliments- they look like they are straight out of a magazine.

Marissa is an amazing photographer! She took newborn pictures for us, and she has taken photos of our family on several other special occasions. If you are looking for a truly skilled photographer who captures amazing photos, she is your person. Marissa is truly amazing at what she does. Not only does she take the most stunning photographs, she makes you feel comfortable in front of and around the camera and really brings out the best in people. We used Marissa for our engagement and wedding photos. She is quick to reply, helps you with planning your timeline, and worked extensively with us to make sure we were within our budget but also got everything we wanted in for our photography package. My fiancé and I would not describe ourselves as overly photogenic but every photo Marissa has taken of us has turned out to be gorgeous. On my wedding day she was a joy to work with and made me feel special, unique, and beautiful. She also handled multiple family fiascos (gathering everyone for pictures, last minute photo requests from random people, etc) with grace and professionalism. I cant recommend her enough.

Marissa and Co. are the best in the business. We have only gotten a small sample so far and we are blown away.

Planning was easy and professional. She took into account of wishes and ideas and helped us fine tune what our wedding experience would be.

During the events (we hired her for our church ceremony, rehearsal dinner, and reception) she was courteous, friendly, and had a strong desire to help the wedding maximize it's potential. Other than scripted shots, she and her team were barely noticeable, capturing intimate moments with family and friends.

We cannot recommend her any more highly! Book her ASAP!

I feel incredibly lucky to have had Marissa shoot 5 events with me in 2015. As other reviewers have written, words cannot express my gratitude for Marissa's authenticity and dedication to her craft in fine art photography. Marissa is a true pleasure to work with as she is flexible to meet the needs of her clients and punctual with deadlines and turn-around-times. From our engagement photoshoot in March through our wedding weekend in August, I am in constant awe of the final photographs which capture raw, emotional moments in unique and creative perspectives. I was so comfortable working with Marissa from photoshoot planning to the final products (including prints, albums, canvas and float wraps for our apartment) - I can't wait to book her for more events in the future!

Marissa came out to our home and took photos of our family. She did a mixture of some indoor and outdoor shots, and we were so incredibly pleased with her work. The family photos she took are something that we will cherish forever! Marissa was so wonderful to work with and she has a beautiful way of making you feel comfortable and relaxed. She took many photos of our family that so beautifully represented the love we share for one another and even got our two young children to respond and cooperate for some great shots! My family has worked with Marissa multiple times now. Her pictures are flawless and truly capture my children. For my son's birthday she suggested being outside, in his element, to really capture his personality. (And some great lighting!) He was so happy, running around and laughing with Marissa. She was on the ground with him and chasing him through the playground. I think he forgot she was taking pictures! I will treasure his boyhood forever through these pictures!

Words cannot describe how amazing my photos were from Marissa Joy Photography. She captures the most amazing moments and hones in on special details. Marissa is the true definition of an artist and professional. From the moment we met her for our engagement photos (which she accommodated doing despite it being a holiday weekend) , we knew that she was going to be our wedding day photographer. Marissa made us feel calm and comfortable in front of her lens. We were so happy with our engagement pics that we invited Marissa to be our photographer for our destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!! We can't express how amazing she was doing the entire process: She helped with arranging her flight and hotel accommodations so that it wouldn't be another item on the long list of to-dos for us during the planning. When she arrived to the Dominican Republic, Marissa joined us during our pre-wedding party and was generous enough to take pics of this event, despite it not being part of her contract. During the wedding day, she was just awesome! She was cool, calm and collected even though I was nervous about keeping things on time. She took many incredible photos of the wonderful moments we lived that day. Thinking about all of the cinematic and 'in-the-moment' photos she captured, we couldn't imagine having anyone else take our photos. It has been over 4 months from our wedding and our friends and family still mention how beautiful our photos were and how professional Marissa was that weekend. I hope to work with Marissa again someday as I'd love for her to capture other amazing events in our lives.

I have known Marissa since high school and followed her work all throughout college and after, and it seemed only fitting to call her when it came time to choose a photographer for our wedding day - not because I knew her and felt a special tie, but because her photography skills are truly AMAZING. There are no words for the beauty she captured on our special day. The level of professionalism she provided leading up to and on the wedding day and the ease she gave us in front of the camera made every moment remarkable. I can't say enough about her or her skills and would recommend her to everyone - in fact, I have! She just photographed my best friend's wedding a few weeks ago and it was awesome having her there for another beautiful wedding - one that we will all remember thanks to her skills. She is, hands down, the best - and I may be biased because she's a long-time friend - but my pictures speak volumes to her talent and are worth more than thousands of words!

Marissa did a FANTASTIC job photographing our wedding. She is so personable and her calm personality made us feel at ease and provided a comfortable environment for all the pictures we were taking! She interacted with family and guests so well and we heard nothing but rave reviews from all of the guests at our wedding! Not only was her on-day performance stellar, she got the pictures edited and back to us reasonably soon after our wedding and they were such high-quality images! We had the best time looking through such intimate pictures, with so many of the essential moments captured---and so well! Marissa is a MUST have at your wedding. She worked hand-in-hand with our wedding planner, who had already mentioned completely enjoying partnering with her. She was a key part of our wedding and performed excellently!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Marissa Joy Photography! From beginning to end, the entire experience with Marissa was phenomenal. She is talented, professional, kind, and a true artist. To be honest, we felt nervous about being in front of the camera and were not sure if we would be able to completely "be ourselves." Marissa made that so easy! We had such a blast with her. Of course, it goes without saying that her work is INCREDIBLE. We look at our photos almost every single day and fall more in love with them each time. What can I say, Marissa is the best at what she does and makes the overall process easy. The booking, shooting, and editing processes are quick and professional. She has such a warm and open personality that makes you feel so comfortable when working with her. It was such a treat to have Marissa as our wedding photographer. We knew that she would provide professionalism and also be relaxed and easy to work with. As a friend of the fam and having seen her work we were excited to expect gorgeous photos and couldn't wait to view them when we came back from honeymoon. Marissa is a truly talented professional! Her work is absolutely stunning. She was able to make us feel totally comfortable in front on the camera (something we though would be hard for us). Marissa had wonderful suggestions for poses to help get the engagement session started and by the end we were so focused on each other we forgot that we were being photographed. Marissa does what ever it takes to capture the shot (from moving chairs and climbing on furniture for my bridals or jumping up in a tree during our engagement session). I was absolutely amazed at the quality of the photos that she produced as they far exceeded anything we had imagined! Marissa's has a true passion for what she does and it shows in her work ethic and beautiful photographs. We are looking forward to having her capture many more milestones in our lives!

Marissa and her assistant did such a beautiful job documenting our wedding day amidst all of the hustle and bustle of summertime Chicago! I have known Marissa for many years, even before she started her business and, I have always admired her calm and loving sensibility but most of all, her ability to work diligently in a variety of settings and with a variety of personalities.
Her talented eye comes through in her photographs and anyone can see that by browsing her portfolio galleries, but her outstanding flexibility and self-determined professionalism makes her truly worth every penny of her services.
We flew Marissa and her assistant up to Chicago to document our wedding day even though we could have selected from many of Chicago's own highly qualified photographers. It was our trust in her talent and professionalism that made us choose her over Chicago's finest.

Honestly, do I even need to write a review? One look at Marissa's portfolio says it all.
Upon stumbling across her blog/website, I became enchanted for hours before the email went out... I knew that I had to have Marissa as our wedding photographer. From engagement to bridals to the grand finale, Marissa was there to capture every moment.
I have never worked with a photographer who made me (and my husband) feel so comfortable.
During the engagement session we felt as if we were just hanging out, being ourselves. Marissa would throw out ideas on body placement/language, but focused most on capturing the real uniqueness that differentiated us from every other couple. Nothing felt forced or fake.
When we received our engagement pictures I literally cried. They were everything I imagined and more.
The same goes for Bridals-- Marissa did WHATEVER it took to get "the shot". I cannot thank her enough for her patience and talent. Matthew and I were truly blessed to have stumbled across this gem.
I cannot wait to get our wedding pictures back, but the preview made my heart skip a beat.
If you are looking for a photographer with raw, honest talent... Marrisa Joy is the best!
I also feel like I've gained a friend for life... Not only did Marissa capture our special moments, she captured our hearts (cheesy, I know).

Marissa is an outstanding talented photographer. Quality of Service- above and beyond what you would expect from a photographer! Marissa is obviously experienced with wedding photography; not only did she make me feel comfortable in front of the camera, but she showed me how to hold my dress when we would walk to different locations to take pictures :)

Responsiveness- I would email her at 1am with ideas from Pinterest on different shots I wanted on our wedding day and she would immediately reply with "I love it!". She would reply to emails from me about questions about pricing, etc in less than 24 hours. She even consistently followed up with me MONTHS after our wedding dto ensure all finishing touches on our album were made.

Professionalism- Marissa is extremely professional with a southern, sweet charm. She's a pro at what she does but reminds me of one of my closest girlfriends! She always made sure I felt comfortable in front of the camera and made sure she understood everything about my groom and I before shooting our big day.

Value- The value you pay for Marissa for the quality of her work, her professionalism, her "perfectionist" ways and finishing touches on each photo/album is priceless. The value of everything about Marissa Joy Photography is superior and you will certainly not be disappointed!

Flexibility- We live in Georgia but our wedding was in Greensboro, NC. Every minute of wedding planning while we were in NC was important. Marissa was always available to meet with us, even on short notice while we were in town. When I called, emailed, or texted- I would always get a response from her. So very accommodating and you never heard her say "no" to any of my requests.

Marissa was absolutely wonderful to work with! We had our engagement pictures made with her first, and after seeing those we knew our wedding was going to be captured beautifully. Our wedding pictures are truly the most beautiful photographs that I have ever seen. The entire day was captured in detail well over any expectations that I had. Marissa and her staff were a joy to work with. Marissa was calm, soothing and professional. She kept us on track and in good spirits despite an entire change in wedding venue and massive flooding at our destination.

The pictures were amazing and quite artistic. She even found a half hour outside, between rainstorms, which she tracked for us, to take a few unbelievable wind enhanced, outside shots. She turned what could have been a picture nightmare into one of a kind photographs.

All of our guests were able to see and order pictures within a month of our event. Everyone who has contacted me has commented on the beautiful photography.

Marissa was the best thing that could have happened to my husband and me on our wedding day, you know, besides getting married!

The entire event was changed around at the last second due to a weather crises but Marissa stayed on her game the entire time. Not only was she very flexible, she was such a calming presence to have around. Being the bride, my nerves were shot with all of the chaos going on around me. Marissa was always focused on me & would continuously make sure that I was all right or see if I needed anything. Who would have thought that my photographer package also came with a stress-relief counselor!?

"Professional" does not even begin to touch on Marissa's work. She constantly had her eye on the weather & when a 10-minute gap of sun appeared, she made sure to hustle with pictures. These pictures ended up being my favorites.

Marissa catcesh the moment of an event like I have never seen before. I have been to events where photos are very staged & the photographer is a constant presence. My guests commented afterwards that they did not even see a photographer (& we had 2). I agree with everyone on this; she never made her presence overtly known. Because of this, my photos are very natural & elicit emotion in a way that a staged photo never could. She really captured the mood & atmosphere in a way that I never knew was possible.

On a final note, Marissa really understood the "look" that we wanted. I do not remember telling her outright what I expected, but she really captured George & my sense of humor & energy, especially with her cake-smash montage. I could see any other photographer keeping those photos from us because they looked too "silly" for a serious event. However, because Marissa takes that extra effort to get to know her client's on an individual level, she knew what we wanted & because of this, our photos were extra personal, unique, and tailored.

Marissa was an outstanding photographer. She is extremely talented. She dealt well with everyone in the bridal part and immediate family, and she made both me and my husband extremely comfortable. Our wedding day started out with rain, turned to sun, then a fog rolled in off the ocean. Marissa dealt with every aspect of the wedding and photos came out amazing no matter what the weather.
