We feel incredibly blessed to have worked with John and his staff at Marionfield Farm to make our daughter’s June 2023 wedding memorable and simply lovely.

Bottom line: As the mother of the bride, who was also responsible for planning most of this wedding, I have to say that I barely lifted a finger or thought of a detail on the wedding day! Everything was perfect, and John and team worked hard to ensure that no detail was left undone. I would highly recommend Marionfield Farm for a wedding or any special event. We received so many compliments from guests! Planning and executing a wedding is not an easy feat, but John makes it seem like it is. And in the end, that is what I really got for the cost of this venue… peace of mind and being present with my family.

Some details:

Venue: This gorgeous historic barn and surrounding property/buildings has been optimized to make an event engaging for both guests in those planning. John has literally thought of every detail. Every vendor we chose knew they could trust this venue, and he made it easy for all of them.

Photos: The stunning property and gorgeous farm buildings mean you won’t have to select a separate place to take photos. Lush greenery surrounds the whole place! Inside, beautiful hanging pendant lamps provide a spectacular element. The upstairs loft is also a great place for photos.

Planning: Above all, John made it clear from the first moment that he cared deeply about the experience our family, our wedding party, and our guests would have at Marionfield Farm. John is a venerable project manager and has his details done to a “T”, and yet he is flexible, friendly and communicative. He is easy to work with and he also earns trust quickly by doing what he says he will, and keeping great notes. We could always count on him to provide advice when requested (which we did often), but also to be respectful enough to allow us to make this special event our own.

Value: Similar barn venues closer to Seattle seemed to be more than double the cost of this one. Yes, it is a drive from Seattle to Arlington, but we found it well worth it for our needs.

Day-of: Our guests had a simply lovely experience, and we received many compliments for selecting this venue. It is important to know that the barn does not have heat or air conditioning, although John does have fans if the weather is warm. As June 2023 would have it, we had a bit of a sprinkle and some wind on our wedding day. John had umbrellas at the ready, but the guests were fine without them, moving between the large barn and the smaller outbuildings. John and staff worked hard to be invisible and make everything seamless.

Don’t hesitate to get this venue booked up early. You’ll be glad you did! We are so grateful.

o We had our wedding at this gorgeous venue in late September of 2022. Our wedding guest size was approximately 140. We had our ceremony outside and our reception inside. The venue is beautiful in every aspect. The scenery is gorgeous, and the barn is in pristine condition with moody lighting. John was such a delight to work with during the planning process. He is extraordinarily organized, detail oriented, caring, passionate about what he does, and has the best interest of his couples at the forefront. John made the planning process so simple and gave us the confidence to be able to pull off a dream wedding. John was very responsive and always had incredible recommendations when we were unsure what route we wanted to go with something. We opted to have John serve hot cider at the wedding and to have propane heaters outside in case it got too chilly at night. Both were great options. John’s staff was just as incredible as him. They assisted getting all the vendors set up where they needed to be as they arrived which led to a smooth set up and the overall smoothness of our wedding. We decided to do the cake cutting outside and in the meantime John’s staff removed tables inside to create the dance floor. They were so quick and efficient that I didn’t even notice it. I cannot brag enough about their teamwork, efficiency, kindness, and passion for making your day as memorable and perfect as they can. Choosing Marionfield Farm was the easiest and best decision we feel we made for our wedding day. John’s kind spirit is so incredibly infectious and we had so much fun working with him. Since our wedding we have heard nothing but wonderful comments from our guests about how beautiful it was, how kind the staff was, and how smooth everything went at our wedding.

My husband and I fell in love with the beautiful venue and the venue owner! John made us feel comfortable and taken care of the whole way through. John lended his expertise, recommendations, but also encouraged us to do what was right for us! Thank you for making our day so special!

This was an amazing experience from the initial guidance with tips, suggestions and support through to the ceremony and reception. There truly are no words that would do the expertise involved with this event justice. Venue, as well as the external landscape and surrounding setting was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. The support from Mr. Olsen and his team was exceptional. Everything with communication was professionally executed without flaw. I can't thank them enough for participating in my daughter's dream wedding.

John was amazing to work with and due to the pandemic we postponed our wedding by a year and he accommodated that! He was so helpful with all aspects of the planning process and helping on day of. All of our guest absolutely LOVED the venue! You can't find a better barn venue, trust me I looked at tons of them!! John is always working to improve the venue, there were so many perks and additions that made the space even better since we booked it in 2019. If we ever do a vow renewal I'm doing it here!

From start to finish, John and his team at Marionfield Farm created a completely stress-free environment, which made for a perfect wedding. From the moment we first arrived at Marionfield Farm, you can tell that John puts in so much time and effort into preserving this historical property. John was beyond professional. From communication to flexibility with unexpected changes, he was always prepared and alleviated any worries that we had at any moment. He has a great relationship with many vendors which made our vendor search easy. We would highly recommend placing Marionfield Farm at the top of your venue search!

I cannot express how amazing the owner of this venue is. John made planning a wedding through a pandemic one of the greatest experiences of our lives. He was very understanding and very clear on the services that he provides, as well as offering so many options to make are they absolutely perfect! John and his staff made our day they assisted and guided our guests and vendors. I cannot recommend more highly! Thank you John for all you do we love you!!!

We cannot say enough good things about Marionfield. The venue is stunning is so many ways and provides for some gorgeous photography. The attention to detail in the historic barn, the cottage and the grounds is above and beyond. But honestly, it John that stole the show. He was so great to work with. His attention to detail, his attentiveness, his responsiveness and all of his help - especially as we had to make a multitude of changes because of Covid and all the rules. He helped us keep our sanity and offered us so many options that instead of canceling (which was an option) we ended up going through with the most intimate and beautiful ceremony we could have hoped for. My husband and I, both of our families, and all of our friends just raved about the venue, John and his manager Lisa. I wouldn't hesitate to book this venue for your special event.

John is a very professional owner and did everything in his power to my our special wedding day perfect! His staff was super helpful, he was very well at communicating since day once, and the place is kept so beautifully! We absolutely loved every moment of our wedding and felt that the quality of the venue and the sincerity John held through out our whole process was just fantastic. We would refer this venue to anyone :)

John, the venue owner, is amazing. He is very responsive to communication and works collaboratively with you to ensure that your wedding day goes exactly how you want it to go. His staff checked in with me throughout the day to make sure I had what I needed. They truly went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was perfect. The venue is also beautiful! I highly recommend it.

John was an absolute dream to work with! Throughout the entire planning process, he was unbelievably helpful and responsive. No question was a silly question and that really made me feel comfortable. He was also very accommodating as we had some requests that were not a part of our original contract. On the day of, he worked so beautifully with my day of coordinators to make sure everything was exactly as my husband and I wanted it. After the wedding, I was made aware of some mishaps and I was able to speak with John on the telephone about them and clear the air. I really appreciated that conversation with him. This venue is gorgeous and it really speaks for itself and doesn’t require much decor. I have recommended, and will continue to recommend, John and this venue to any and all brides looking for the absolute perfect location and team to have on their special day. I simply can’t express how much this day meant to us!

John and his team at Marionfield are amazing. As someone who works in the wedding industry, I had high expectations from the vendors we used for our wedding, and Marionfield went above and beyond. Not only is the venue absolutely gorgeous, but the support team is exceptionally kind, flexible, and supportive. John was so wonderful to work with, and was very accommodating to our long-distance planning. Also I wish my house could look like the bridal cottage! Would highly recommend!!

This venue was exactly what we had envisioned and support from John made the day spectacular. John was extremely flexible leading up to the wedding, was very organized ensuring we had everything in order with time to spare. He worked wonderfully with our day of coordinator, and helped tremendously when our caterer dropped the ball. The venue itself was spectacular; there are many areas so guests have the flexibility to move around. It is small enough for an intimate setting, but made the group feel quite large. We had 85 guests and I felt like people were everywhere (in a good way!) The barn stayed an appropriate temperature, but I might be concerned of it getting quite hot mid summer and would recommend renting fans. John also hired staff for us to support the coordinator in set up, clean up and day of maintenance. All in all, we had a terrific experience at Marionfield Farm with John and would definitely recommend this venue.

So many of our guests said our wedding was incredibly memorable because of the venue. The barn is rustic and unique, not a cookie-cutter feel, and has been restored beautifully. John was terrific to work with, provided all the information we needed, was very flexible and patient, and went to extra lengths to ensure our wedding was perfect. He was also very prompt and professional in communication.

First of all, Marionfield Farm is a dream come true! We fell in love as soon as we parked our car and saw the red barn and the entire setting! It's simply magnificent! At our daughter's wedding, our guests couldn't say enough about how they loved the venue! All of the accommodations were perfect, from the bridal cottage; to the side building for the buffet (which is located directly across from the entrance to the barn); to the barn itself which is STUNNING and also includes a charming, rustic balcony; to the outdoor patio; the parking; the lovely path from the parking to the venue; and then, all the multitude of possibilities for photographs, including the fields surrounding the farm! I don't believe you could find a better farm for any event!
Secondly, the staff was incredible! They handled all the different layouts that had to be changed from ceremony seating, to the dining tables set, and then finally the rearrangement for the dance floor. These switches were done with such precision and speed that everything flowed from one activity to the next!
Finally, I cannot say enough about the farm's owner, John. He is warm, engaging, professional, down to earth, organized, and detailed. His love for and dedication to the farm is evident by the amount of detail and work he has put into bringing this historical farm back to its glory days. His right hand man, his father, is a magnificent and skilled woodworker and craftsman and his touches around the farm add a rustic elegance. Everything he has created has purpose and style.

This venue is truly fantastic - our wedding was a dream come true! As a couple, my wife and I really appreciated the open-door policy (we brought our own caterer, music, etc) as well as the quality compared to the cost! John was so incredibly helpful and responsive, the barn and other structures were really beautiful, the scenery was gorgeous, etc. Highly recommended for a picture-perfect wedding!

I would highly recommend Marionfield for a wedding venue. We had 200+ guest at our wedding. John was organized and very professional in all communication with us prior to and during the wedding. The venue is beautiful and the space was perfect for an intimate and welcoming family wedding.

We planned to get married this year at Marionfield Farm because we loved the venue. Due to COVID we ended up having to have a much smaller event in our back yard. Despite the owner emailing us stating these very words: “I hold myself to a higher standard than the contract or even State-law. The standard that I am accountable to is living a life that is worthy of Christ.” He has decided not to give us any money back from our $1000 deposit. It is truly sad that people are able to profit off of others in these difficult times. I understand he has a business to run, but we would have really appreciated some leeway with getting some of our money back due to the fact that we weren’t able to have our wedding there. Out of all of the reservations, flights and rentals that we ended up cancelling, John was the only one NOT willing to work with us on getting somewhat of a refund on our deposit.

Update: John is correct in he did refund a portion of our deposit even though our event didn’t fall within a government mandated ban. What he fails to mention is that we emailed him for updates multiple times during the two months after we chose to move our event only to be told there would be absolutely no refund, period. He then went completely silent until after our initial review. He then told us, he only refunded a portion after he had held the majority of weddings to date as had been scheduled so he had additional money because of those weddings otherwise he wouldn’t have refund anything as he had previously stated. I mean kudos to those folks who went ahead with their wedding at his venue as they took a major gamble that their wedding could have been cancelled or had the headcount reduced due to government mandate at any point and rearranging an entire wedding last minute isn’t exactly free for the bride and groom or guests and telling people sorry you are no longer invited isn’t a fun last minute conversation with your guests, which is why we made our decision after the governor’s June 1st policy updates. Our event was mandated to be reduced by 75% capacity at that point and John was only willing to lower the bill by 20% or push it to a later date which we had already pushed our date a year to begin with, so yes John there are others like us that had additional circumstances... I’m sure in a typical year this venue would be amazing and you wouldn’t have any issues with the owner. However, when difficult times present themselves true colors are shown and I’m glad we chose to pull our wedding from this venue and owner. As his response to this review and email responses have shown his true colors.
