I won the lottery when we hired Marilyn to photograph our wedding. She is not only super talented, but an absolute joy to work with. She immediately got who my husband and I were, and was able to translate that to photo. My husband has an interesting sense of humor and she was able to jump right in and joke along with with him. She is professional, but still knows how to have fun and put her photo subjects at ease. Everyone we know can't stop gushing over how amazing our photos came out! Thank you Marilyn for being the amazing human that you are and for helping to make our day so special! -

Marilyn shot our wedding in March and we loved working with her. Right from our engagement session last spring, we had this feeling that Marilyn was the perfect fit for capturing our special day, and boy, were we right on the money!
Leading up to the wedding, Marilyn was a breeze to work with and was extremely accommodating and responsive to emails. We received the preview images a week after the wedding and we are over the moon! Marilyn's photos didn't just capture the big moments and tiny details, they somehow managed to freeze-frame all the emotions of the day. We expect that revisiting the photos will transport us back to the day, over and over again!
In addition to her professionalism and talent, Marilyn is also an incredibly sweet person who provided a really calming presence, especially during those hectic moments. It felt like she genuinely cared about us, not just as clients, but as people too.
In short, Marilyn and her assistant, Emma, were an absolute dream to work with. We're beyond grateful for their talent, professionalism, and the genuine care they put into every shot. Now, we're just counting down the days until we get our hands on the full album to relive all those magical moments! -

Marilyn is a phenomenal photographer/person in general and you shouldn’t hesitate to book her - I’ve recommended her to basically everyone I know getting married or has even the most distant of plans to get married. She goes above and beyond the basic responsibilities of a photographer and genuinely loves documenting love. I hope to book her for literally anything in the future. She was the very first vendor we booked in our entire wedding planning process and set the bar waaaay too high for everyone else. She was one of the few vendors we reached out to that did an initial Zoom consultation. I think based on rom-coms I had this crazy idea in my head that wedding planning was done through in-person appointments, but I quickly learned most is done through emails and phone calls making it all feel a little impersonal. Our first meeting with Marilyn was amazing and it felt like she was really invested in learning about us as a couple and the type of photography experience/style we were looking for. Her kind and thoughtful personality led us to book her for our engagement shoot and wedding straight away. She definitely can meet you at whatever level of crazy you’re currently running at. For example, for our engagement shoot I had made a whole powerpoint of the types of shots I wanted as well as potential outfits. So detailed that I had test-run a NYC ferry ride and selected backdrops along the way. She insanely obliged to all my requests and the photographs are a beautiful homage to our neighborhood. I did a complete 180 by the wedding and I told Marilyn I trusted her artistic vision completely and had no shot list other than the groupings for formal portraits. The photographs came in while we were on our honeymoon and we were blown away by the gallery. Everything was beautifully photographed, edited, and curated. On the wedding day my husband and I were excited for our first look partially because we got to see each other, but also because it was a hang sesh with Marilyn. She is just a wonderful person who puts you at ease whenever you chat with her. Many guests complimented her work style in which she wasn’t intrusive during the ceremony, but was constantly snapping both candid and posed photos. We didn’t want our wedding to feel merely like a spectacle –we wanted it to be a gathering of all our loved ones, so Marilyn’s candid style was a perfect match for us. -

Where to even start? Marilyn is the sweetest human being! She radiates warmth and kindness and makes, what could be a stressful experience, delightful and easy. Which is exactly the energy you want on your wedding day. She is incredibly professional, responsive, and friendly. We had to cancel our wedding and reschedule at the very last minute and reschedule and she was completely flexible and actually sent us a care package to cheer us up!!! Like, are you kidding?!?
And at the wedding itself she was so fun, when I noticed her, but most of the time she was floating around taking gorgeous photos and just blending in with the party. During and after the wedding my guests praised her friendliness and professionalism. And on top of all that, she's a true artist who seems to really love her craft and that love comes through in the photos. She just has a special secret sauce. Hire this woman! 10/10 would recommend! It was an absolute pleasure working with her. -

It's hard to put into words how amazing it was to work with Marilyn for our wedding day. From our first interaction with her, she was energetic, friendly and professional. Throughout the entire process, Marilyn was responsive and went above and beyond to be helpful. It's easy to get caught up in the stress of wedding planning, but every time we spoke with Marilyn, she brought such a lovely positive attitude! On our wedding day, Marilyn came up with so many creative ideas for our photos and most importantly, she made us feel relaxed and comfortable. We had so much fun with her and we could not be more thrilled with how our photos turned out. Marilyn is not only an incredibly talented artist, but also a truly wonderful person. When our dog, who was supposed to be part of our wedding, died unexpectedly, Marilyn sent us a thoughtful sympathy package. We would recommend her to anyone and hope we have a chance to work with her again! -

Absolutely Amazing in Every Way
We can't say anything but great things about Marilyn. My husband and I first saw her page on Wedding Wire early 2019 and immediately fell in love with the quality and look of her photos. She truly has a knack for capturing special moments that take us right back to our special day.
Not only was she incredibly easy to work with, we were blown away by her professionalism and her love for what she does. We unfortunately had our original wedding derailed by Covid-19 and Marilyn has stuck with us through it all - checking in on us, asking us about alternate plans, and even brainstorming new ideas. We felt like she really had our back.
On the day of, Marilyn had every detail taken care of and was extremely organized. She made us feel so comfortable and helped guide us through the best poses for photos, which is exactly what we needed on that day. The quality of her photos and the speed at which we received them blew us away and we are so thankful that we have these memories to cherish forever.
We can't wait to hire Marilyn again for special occasions and can't recommend her enough to our friends and family. -

Marilyn was really wonderful to work with! She is very friendly and easy going, so we instantly felt comfortable with her and were able to just be ourselves during the shoots. She was able to find some beautiful spots for us to take engagement and wedding pictures that included my love of nature and my husband's love for the city. Also I really like how organic and joyful her photos feel without being too heavily edited. I would definitely book Marilyn again in the future to capture another major life event. -

I met Marilyn in college (how cool is that!) We were roommates in Freshman year in college where we both got to explore NYC and college life together. I would have to say that, after a few years, some of my most cherished memories of college are from Marilyn's photos. Through Marilyn's photos, you could always see that natural love from both the scenes she is capturing and from herself as an artist.
I invited Marilyn to be my wedding photographer before I met my husband. I knew from years ago that Marilyn would make this day alpha special for me. And when the day came, it could not be more perfect -

For our wedding in the heart of NYC last month we contacted eight photographers, but as soon as we found Marilyn we knew our search was over. Her enthusiasm and energy were contagious. She’s always bubbly and smiling! We even added each other on Instagram right away, and her IG is like a nonstop positivity machine. It literally puts me in a good mood to watch her story. In our hunt for the perfect vendors, the personal connection and relationship piece was really important to us and we vibed with Marilyn immediately.
Marilyn sent us a very clean and professional proposal, her pricing was fair and competitive, and she was always super responsive. We even decided to add a second shooter, Desire, who ended up being indispensable as well. On the day, Marilyn was everywhere and nowhere at once. Cameras slung on her shoulders like some kind of gunslinger. She guided us when we needed it, provided helpful nudges, or just disappeared into the background, capturing the perfect candids and personal moments. She was perfect. So far, we’ve only received our “sneak peek” photos, but they are absolutely AMAZING. They look better than we could have imagined (and we had pretty high expectations). I could go, but suffice it to say that we could not endorse Marilyn more highly. Thank you SO MUCH! -

Marilyn did an amazing job for our elopement/micro-wedding. After weeks of contacting 30 - 40 photographers that were either unavailable or well beyond our micro-wedding budget, we somehow struck gold and a friend of a friend of a friend recommended Marilyn.
Marilyn was super quick to respond to our initial inquiry. She gave us fair pricing and was able to work within our budget since we only needed about 5 hours of photography. I’m not totally comfortable in front of a camera and with the additional stress of the day; Marilyn was able to make me feel comfortable and keep things fun and easy. I gave her an enormous list of suggested photos I wanted captured and somehow we got through ALL of them IN A FLASH (pun intended). She was so on top of it, didn’t miss a beat and exceeded every expectation I could ever have.
Perhaps the best part was that Marilyn was able to do a 24-hour rush send of 20x “top photos” that we could post to our website and share with friends and family the day after we got married. It was so nice that we could quickly share our special day with all of our loved ones that couldn’t be there due to COVID.
I cannot say enough good things about Maralyn, I will recommend her to any and all friends that get married, engaged, pregnant … literally anything that may or may not require photography—I will be contacting/referring Marilyn to everyone! -

Amazing Wedding Photographer!
Marilyn is an amazing wedding photographer. Trusting someone with your memories can be intimidating, but Marilyn made us feel like we were entrusting our most special day to an old friend. She is incredibly professional and has a super put-together and detailed process. She creates a connection with you in a way that does not feel overwhelming or awkward, she is super genuine and easy to work with. This genuine quality shows through in her photographs, she makes beautiful images that have an aura of warm, candid, joy to them. Marilyn Lamnanna is an exceptional wedding photographer. Her photos are beautiful and she captured our loved ones as if they were her own loved ones. So many images are just perfectly timed. Nothing too staged and all exactly what we asked her for. I would recommend her not only for her beautiful work but for every other reason. She was so intuitive, she knew exactly where to be and she was so good at reading the room and getting the shots while coming off as a friend or part of our family. Everyone loved her. She also stepped in many times and used her experience and kindness to avert disaster, help us out, and generally support us during such an important and busy day. We had the best time with Marilyn! From initial inquiry, to chatting, to making arrangements for our shoot, Marilyn was responsive, professional, and sweet, and as 2 people not used to doing professional photos, she made us feel totally at ease. It was like hanging out on the boardwalk with a friend who takes badass pictures! She got our finished photos to us in less than a week and they're beautiful, beyond. I couldn't have asked for a more fun, relaxed way to capture our love story, and her photos have a little extra something in them that makes you remember how you felt right in that moment! -

A Joy to Work With!
Most professional photographers can capture a moment well, but it takes someone incredibly talented to capture the feeling of a day. Marilyn was able to do that better than I had ever imagined. You could sense feeling in every photo, and people's personalities shined through each image. She is also a wizard with light and produced some beautiful shots that are works of art in and of themselves! Beyond her talent, she was easy to work with, responsive and a wonderful calm presence on the day of the celebration. In short, she was a joy to work with! -

Amazing proposal photographer!
I would 10000% recommend Marilyn. I had planned to propose in March 2020 with another photographer, but due to the craziness of the pandemic things fell apart. The original photographer recommended her friend, Marilyn, as she could not longer make the new proposal date.
Marilyn jumped in and ironed out all of the details with me in a short period of time. We did it all via text as my partner and I were both WFH and in quarantine, so I couldn't get away to be on the phone. She was lovely to chat with and I felt like I was planning with a friend that happened to also be a photographer. I loved that Marilyn's experience and suggestions made things much more stress free. For example, we shared our phone location pins that afternoon, she sent me a pin to our meeting proposal location, and shared outfit selfies so we could "see" each other. It was such a relief to have this organization as I headed to central park that day.
Marilyn was stealthy and my partner had no idea she was there behind us ready for the big moment! When I saw her it was a relief as my original proposal spot was full of people that day -- I had to get a new spot! I texted her the change of plans frantically (while sweating like a mad woman) and she made the switch no problem, found us, and BAM, proposal! :)
The photos are beautiful and will forever be moments and photographs we treasure. Thanks, Marilyn!! -

Highly recommend
We cannot say enough about how much we loved our experience working with Marilyn. We hired her right at the start of the pandemic, full aware that our wedding may not happen. Marilyn was so kind, compassionate, and flexible, and adjusted the plan to our wedding as we figured it out. Working with her was fun and easy, as she is super down to earth, and really wanted to capture our vibe as a couple. We could not be happier with the photos, and friends have been blown away by the cool vibe and how they capture the honest moments of our relationship and our wedding. -

We booked Marilyn for our May wedding before the pandemic hit. Sadly, our in-person wedding was cancelled, but we decided to move forward with a virtual wedding on Zoom and Marilyn helped us document the entire thing, beautifully! She arranged her computer and took pictures of the screen (including a family photo-shoot after the ceremony) and she helped us document a unique experience in a truly unique and fun way.
She was so flexible and easy to work with as we were figuring out what we were going to do. I can't wait until we're able to work with her again in person! -

TLDR; Hire her. Hire her now! She's talented, responded so quickly to all my questions and concerns, was a freaking BLAST to work with, and will do anything to get the shot. Seriously. She almost got hit by a bus and may or may not have fallen trying to make sure she got the shots she wanted.
I've honestly been putting off writing this review because I just can't put into words how amazing Marilyn is. I'm a HUGE photography lover and finding the right fit, not just in style but the actual person we'll be working with, is so so important to me. Hiring Marilyn was the BEST choice we could've made.
My husband and I were headed to New York for our very first time and I wanted to get photos since this has been a lifelong dream for both of us. I looked at so many websites looking for the right photographer and was drawn to Marilyn's work on every single one. I finally decided to reach out and see if she was available on our dates and she responded promptly and I could already tell in her email that I was going to love her. She sent me her Instagram handle to check her out and I read almost all her posts and fell in love with not just her work but her.
She responded so quickly to every email I sent her (even while she was on vacation in Hawaii. Seriously.) and was 400% down for any crazy request I had. I was couldn't wait for our shoot and looked at her website and Instagram almost every day. But none of that prepared me for how much I would enjoy our time together. It was the first time I was ever sad to leave a photo shoot because I had had so much fun and I honestly forgot that we had pictures coming from it.
Meeting her felt like reuniting with a best friend. I left the shoot already planning our next and can't wait to work with her again. Hire her! You won't regret it. -

Courthouse wedding
Marilyn did our photos at the city clerk's - it was raining and there was construction all around - so I was feeling pretty sad about how the photos would turn out - she did a fantastic job and got us some beautiful pictures for us to remember our day. She was very flexible and made the experience incredibly easy. 10/10 recommend. - Especially for rainy day weddings - she knows how to work it! -

By the time my now husband proposed in May, we had already booked the venue. We knew we wanted a wedding in October and accepted the madness of planning a wedding in less than 6 months. Taking a lot of advice from friends and endless articles online I first set a list of priorities, and though that is a close-to-impossible task, after all every detail is a priority -especially for an architect - I placed photography up there with music and food - not surprisingly.
I also knew what I did not like when it comes to wedding photography, but it wasn't until I came across Marilyn's photos online that I realized the type of photos I wanted. After speaking to Marilyn for the first time I knew she was the one - it took my husband and I a whole 5+ years for us to come to that conclusion about each other… but of the many decisions leading up to our wedding day, choosing Marilyn was one of the best. Planning in such a short time also meant we had to be flexible, and due to a scheduling conflict - again super short notice on my part - Marilyn recommended us to another bad-ass photographer - and our favorite wedding day second photographer Shelby.
The months that followed after Marilyn came on board, I became her groupie on IG. An architect and a computer programmer, I wondered how she could make us, a couple of goofballs, look like the beautiful, magical, warm portraits she posts on her feed. "Are we even "cool" enough for her?" I asked my then fiance and sister many times. We would have to wait to see.
When the day finally arrived… it ended. Yes, that fast! From getting ready, to first look and the 15th tequila shot, it felt like 20 minutes.. As it turns out, an amazing photographer doesn't need the coolest subjects; what she does is really magic. The photos from our wedding day are not just good visual memories, but snapshots of how we all felt that day. Through her lenses Marilyn captured what was so important to us: our different backgrounds coming together and having a helluva dance party.
I cannot thank these two wonderful people enough for capturing such wonderful memories so beautifully. From engagement shoot in LIC to our nuptials in Brooklyn, I could not have had a team that was more aligned with my vision. -

Just Perfect
We were worried about hiring a photographer for our elopement as neither of us enjoy having our photo taken and didnt want any typical staged photos but I'm so glad that we hired Marilyn. She listend to what we wanted from the photos and we got exactly what we asked for. She made us feel completely relaxed and at ease the whole time. It wasnt like walking around the city with a photographer, she felt more like a friend and it was really nice to have that on our wedding day. I can't reccomend her enough! -

I could go on and on about how wonderful Marilyn is. From the beginning of my wedding planning to day of she has been so great to work with. I had tons of questions, and even week before my wedding I had some last minute changes, Marilyn was very sweet and super accommodating. I've been to many wedding within the year and the one thing I hated was how some photographers are all in your face and in your way. Marilyn was not like that at all! She's a ninja. She was able to take beautiful photos while giving us and our guest the space to enjoy! Our guest kept raving about how sweet and professional she was during our wedding.
One thing that stood out the most to me, was Marilyn treated me not only as a bride, but as a friend. She checked up on me throughout the day but also we had some laughs in between. I told her how awkward I am in photos, but she made me feel SO comfortable that I felt like I was just taking photos with a good friend.
We just got our photos back and I started crying at work lol. Her photos weren't the typical pose and click, her photos told stories. I was able to relive my wedding all over again. She captured the love and the fun at our wedding. She is truly one of the best. Thank you Marilyn! -

NYC elopement
We travelled from Ireland to get married. Marilyn was exactly what we wanted to capture our elopement in NYC, she is really warm and easy to get along with. She was flexible with our timings and lovely to hang out with. We came with up a plan together to suit our needs. She captured the moments perfectly and we are so happy with the photographs. We would highly recommend Marilyn. -

Pros: Marilyn is energetic, adaptable, great sunny & professional demeanor.
Cons: A less experienced photographer, her camera kit does not have a ton of lenses, etc. (it is really just her and her trusty camera).
Months before we ended up doing the actual engagement shoot, we began communicating with Marilyn. She is professional & responsive (whether through email or text). Unfortunately, my fiancé’s grandfather passed away shortly after our engagement & Marilyn was lovely & patient with us while we healed.
May 11th, 2019 at 6 am we met for our engagement photo shoot in the Dumbo / Brooklyn Bridge area. Marilyn is energetic and adaptable. She met us at 6 am and somehow managed a demeanor rivaling the rising sun. She was always willing to stop & take photos in random spots that spoke to us as a couple between the areas we were intentionally heading.
She managed to grab sneaky candid shots I was unaware she was taking, like my fiancé Sam, putting his hat on me and me bopping him with it. She was more than on board with grabbing shots in random spots that spoke to us & while we intentionally went to my fiancé’s parents’ brownstone (for the quintessential Brooklyn shot) she was completely fine with also grabbing impromptu shots in the backyard.
Overall, we loved our experience with Marilyn & intend to use her for our wedding photography as well. Marilyn is an absolute joy to work with & her energy is contagious. However, if you want overly stylized or photoshopped final pictures or a photographer to pose you & bring props, this is not the photographer for you. The final pictures were gorgeous, but us (which is exactly what we wanted).
