Maria is the BEST

I could not have picked a better person to work with. From the start, Maria was super helpful in figuring out what coverage we needed for our wedding, and was very flexible when I decided to add additional coverage a few months out. Where Maria really stood out, however, was when things took an unexpected turn. The week before our wedding, Maria and her family came down with an illness and she wasn't going to be able to travel to our wedding. Cue the freak out, right? WRONG!! Before I had the chance to even start thinking about panicking, Maria had already found a replacement that was up to her standards and already had a plan in motion to fill the new photographer in on all our details. On the same call that she broke the news she wouldn't make it, she also filled me in on who would be there instead. The wedding day went by so smoothly and then Maria did a beautiful job editing all of our pictures and even delivered everything to us ahead of schedule. Even in a crisis, Maria was so thoughtful and forward thinking that I didn't have to worry about anything. I am blown away by the job she's done, my only regret was that I didn't get to meet her!

Still Crying

Maria was AMAZING! Our wedding day was pretty unconventional due to COVID. We had to cut back on a lot of the things that we thought we needed, so of course I was panicking and worried about how magical my day would be because it didn't seem like anything would go right. Maria was able to calm all of my worries. She worked with us during this hectic time and she was really the calmest and sweetest person. Because of our timing, we did a first look and when I tell you I was so nervous about what goofy faces or looks I was making. But Maria captured every beautiful moment on my unconventional wedding day. I still cry when I look at the pictures because not only are they gorgeous, she captured moments. Me and my husband cannot thank her enough! If you're getting married, don't miss out on having Maria taking a moment and making it last a lifetime :)

Great experience

Working with Maria was easy and effortless. She was the most responsive and most attentive vendor that we worked with. You can tell that she has passion for what she does. She takes time to try to understand the couple and their family before the big day so that she can get all the shots you like on the day. We got married early in the day without optimal lighting, but she still made our pictures look great. I would recommend choosing Maria as your wedding photographer.

Absolutely wonderful!

Maria really captured all of our favorite moments of our wedding and reception. She listened to what was important to us and made sure those things were all included in our photos. We are so thankful to have such wonderful memories perfectly preserved. We will enjoy looking back through our album and seeing the love and happiness from that day.

Maria is an amazing photographer! She took time to get to know my husband and I beforehand and was so careful to get every detail we wanted captured of our wedding. She is extremely kind and hard working. Our photos were wonderful! She captured some of the best moments!

You can't go wrong with Maria

Having hired Maria for an engagement shoot in May of 2018 and then my wedding in September of 2018, I can honestly say she was such a joy to work with and one of the easiest wedding planning decisions I made. To start, after doing a lot of research into other photographers I found her prices were incredibly reasonable, and her packages were flexible. We scheduled an initial phone call to get to know us and what could have been an awkward and stilted conversation turned out to be very enjoyable- I immediately felt comfortable hiring her to photograph our wedding. The "fit" was just there.
Our engagement shoot was a great test run (I highly recommend one) as my then-fiancé and I got a chance to learn to be comfortable in front of the camera and Maria got a chance to get to know us (and our good sides!) and practice posing us to create photos we all loved. Maria then edited our photos BEAUTIFULLY in under two weeks, which was amazing, and the download/gallery sharing process was easy for us as well as our family members to navigate. Maria also keeps a sweet photography blog where she posts stories about the couples and families she works with, and that shows how she makes an effort to get to know you personally and create an experience unique to you. About two months before the wedding, Maria had us fill out a questionnaire having us rank what types of photos (different family groupings, locations, decorations etc) were most important to us so she would know how to best prioritize her time to ensure we got the shots that mattered the most. On the day of, Maria was prompt, professional, and honestly a calming presence during my pre-wedding jitters! She demonstrated a great talent to look around the space, find a bit of light, and then create perfect photos. She seamlessly was able to direct us into poses and different locations and kept things moving so our overall timeline would go smoothly. In the end, the wedding album we got back was absolutely amazing. Over 600+ individually edited photos, a mix of poses and fantastic candids from the dance floor and speeches that truly captured the essence of our day. Maria does AMAZING work and she is wonderful to work with! Maria shot our engagement portraits and our wedding...we had to reschedule the engagement portraits (NC summer weather is unpredictable) and she was super flexible and accommodating. Then, our wedding fell on the weekend that hurricane Florence came through. Despite the chaos of last-minute guest cancellations, rearranging plans, and dealing with gross weather, Maria never hesitated in going on with the show and shooting absolutely beautiful portraits! She got great candids of us and our guests on the dance floor and throughout the reception, as well. We are so happy with Maria's work and highly recommend her!

When we got engaged, the first thing we knew we had to book was Maria Estes Photography! Maria’s professionalism, friendship, and quality is amazing. She did our engagement and wedding photos (which we would 100% recommend - we believe it made the wedding session even easier!) Our wedding day ended up rainy, and yet despite this, our wedding photos are stellar in quality, and her ability to track the best lighting, timing, and opportunities made those photos a treasure for us. Maria has the wonderful people skills necessary to personalize each session, with a keen understanding of the uniqueness of individual personalities and photo shoot preferences. I absolutely loved working with Maria. My husband and I started to plan for our wedding later than we should have, but Maria was so patient with us and went out of her way to make everything work perfectly! She is so easy to work with and really makes you feel like working with a friend who you can trust. Our pictures turned out so great! I have been obsessed with them! Maria was absolutely AMAZING!!! She photographed our March 2018 wedding and we were so happy with how everything turned out. She went above and beyond to make sure she knew what our vision was for photography. She met with us before our big day and answered countless emails and texts. She also created and shared a detailed timeline to make sure we had all pictures we wanted on the timeline that worked for us. The weather on our day was less than ideal (rainy and cloudy) but the pictures still turned out amazing. Maria was super creative and just made it work. We HIGHLY recommend her!

We loved working with Maria. Neither of us loves to be the center of attention, or to have our photo taken over and over, but we also wanted some beautiful photos to remember our wedding day. Maria was recommended by a friend and we are so grateful to have found her. She somehow made even slightly-embarrassed us look good, not goofy! She was so good to work with- experienced, fast, responsive. Maria has been doing this long enough to have gotten good at it, and she still made us feel special like she was truly excited we were getting married. She even sent us a book about marriage and a gift certificate to go out to dinner a couple months before our wedding, just to encourage us. So sweet! And did I mention, her pictures are spectacular?! She really has an eye for what will be a memorable photo. We did both engagement photos and wedding photos with her, for a very reasonable price. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

We cannot speak more highly of Maria and the excellent job that she does! All the communication and planning leading up to the wedding was on point! She was well prepared for our big day even though it was snowing! The photos were delivered quickly after the wedding so we didn't have to wait a long time to see them. She gave us some amazing photos that we will always treasure. It's true what they say, the day goes by in a blur. However, with the photos we have, we can relive the magic of our day. Maria is a very talented photographer. She did a wonderful job of capturing all the pictures we wanted with enough time left over to take some extra pictures. Everyone felt very comfortable while she was taking the pictures, and it was an enjoyable experience. I know her calm demeanor helped me to relax and have fun while taking the pictures. We did a first look and I almost forgot she was there. She really let us have an intimate moment but also captured some sweet and tender pictures of the moment without us noticing. There was also an event that forced us to relocate our reception venue at the last minute and she was very understanding and flexible with that situation. She wonderfully captured sweet moments between us and between the guests. She got the photos back to us within 3 weeks, and we loved browsing her pictures afterwards. We're very glad that we choose her as our wedding photographer

Maria was SO patient with us! We were really nervous about getting our photos taken, so we had engagement photos done. They turned out SO perfectly! It really captured who we are. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Maria. Maria has taken graduation, engagement, and wedding pictures for my husband and me and every photo session was phenomenal. Maria is worth 5 stars across the board! First of all, she was extremely patient and flexible with our scheduling and travel situation, which was a HUGE blessing. She made us feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, which definitely came across in the finished product. Maria has an eye for light and for people's stories; we really felt she captured our relationship and the special moments of our wedding day well in both engagement and wedding photos. Also I wish I could post a photo here because I received the most beautiful little wooden flash drive in the mail today with our photos on it! Very professional and thoughtful. On top of all that, Maria really is a very kind, talented, down to earth person...and a very trustworthy photographer!

This review has been two years coming, and every time I look at our wedding pictures I am reminded how much having Maria as our photographer made our wedding day even more amazing. She was sooo responsive and supportive as well as extremely professional and so good at what she does! My advice to couples is to buy the full day. I was trying to stay within budget and only booked her for a few hours. After seeing her work, I wish I had just booked her for the entire day!

We both liked Maria from the time we met her. Her photos were exceptional, catching many memorable moments. She was very professional and accommodating. Best of all, she wasn't pushy like most other photographers, allowing us to spend equal time with our guests and loved ones. We felt that the pricing for her service was very fair. Maria was great, and we are thrilled we hired her! She was responsive, accommodating, patient, and dedicated to making sure we got the pictures that were important to us. Our wedding day ended up being cold and windy and she rolled with the punches in a way that we really appreciated - she definitely didn't let the rough weather keep her from getting all the pictures we wanted to have (and she did a great job of moving quickly to keep people from being in the cold for longer than necessary!). She was quick getting the final photos back to us (about 5 weeks), and they look BEAUTIFUL - Maria really has an eye for light, positioning, and capturing tender moments. As we looked through the pictures, we kept remarking that we had no idea she got many of the shots she did - she was so great about capturing shots without being intrusive or changing a moment. Maria did a great job making us feel comfortable and at ease, which is what we were most anxious about - she is so calm and approachable, and it makes the entire experience of being photographed feel easy. Maria is thoughtful, committed, and sincerely enthusiastic about the love she is capturing on a wedding day - we could tell that she took her job seriously and was sympathetic to us really wanting to have great pictures of such an important event.

We decided to work with Maria after meeting her because she made us feel very relaxed. The main thing for us, aside from photo quality, was feeling comfortable and not like we had somebody hovering over is constantly. Maria made us feel comfortable that she would accommodate our wishes and complement our personalities well enough to get great shots. She gave us the confidence we were looking for in that she is professional and KNOWS weddings, and she was going to be laid back enough to keep us at ease. We really appreciated the insight she offered and she really made the entire experience so much easier. We would definitely hire Maria again for other photo shoots!

I absolutely love Maria! She photographed my wedding and my sister's at our family's home in Rougemont, NC. We worked together to create a wedding timeline to make sure everything went smoothly on the day of my wedding and it worked wonders. The photos turned out to be everything I wanted and more. Maria was wonderful! She was professional, punctual, flexible, helpful, and so kind! I am not someone who feels "natural" in front of a camera, but she was so nice and laid back and helped put my nerves at ease. Her photo quality is excellent, and I was really happy with the end result! I couldn't have asked for better wedding photos. My husband and I were very pleased with our wedding photos. We always get compliments about how beautiful they are. Working with Maria was a joy. She had her hands full because we had a very large wedding party, almost 50 people but she was able to stick to the schedule and complete all the shots we wanted in less than an hour including our couple portraits. I absolutely love our couple potraits, Maria came up with very creative shots. I highly recommend Maria for your wedding photography!

My husband and I love love love our wedding pictures done by Maria Estes Photography! She did an amazing job making sure we got the pictures we wanted, despite the freezing temperatures that day. She was very organized and helped get everyone into the proper pictures quickly and efficiently, despite the hectic nature of the wedding.
We absolutely recommend her and if we need pictures again, we will definitely book with Maria Estes Photography.

My husband and I had a bit of a nontraditional wedding and Maria was there with us every step of the way. I found her business searching Facebook for recommended local wedding photographers and her appreciation for lighting and capturing the love and happiness in people's expression sold us right away. We had photography sessions and our wedding at North Carolina's Falls Lake. Some of the more memorable experiences with Maria included when I realized my bouquet was dripping water on my dress she immediately asked for it and simply dried it off on her sun dress and handed it back to me! She was forward and loving with telling Brenten and me where to stand, angling us in the most attractive poses for our body types, and capturing the moment. Look through her photos and you will see that she has an eye for capturing you in the best light and most flattering angle! That is something as a bride I hoped for, but didn't know how to ask for or how to do myself. Another standout moment with Maria was before the ceremony we were taking couple's shots by the lake along the tree line. She focused her camera on us and noticed there was a log in the frame that took away from the moment. She scooped down and dragged the log out of the frame and quickly returned to take the best shots of Brenten and me. Maria was open to meeting with me before the wedding day as many times as I wanted to go over our shared vision and the way the day would run. She asks the bride and groom to make a list of photos we want and our basic day-of schedule. She then puts together a concise and organized photography schedule to ensure time efficiency, a smooth day, and that not one of those special moments are missed! With all the bride and groom have to take care of, Maria's organization and thoughtfulness ensures that she will take care of the pictures and you just have to enjoy yourself. Maria was such a joy to work with as we were planning our wedding and on the big day itself. Her pricing was so much more reasonable than anything else I could find, and her style is beautiful! She is super quick to respond and very much on top of things. I'm so thankful for her!

If you are getting married, need portraits done or a family session run towards Maria! She did our engagement shoot, first look, ceremony and reception and her attention to detail came across in every shot. Maria planned everything out in a thoughtful manner, she listens to your needs and will bring your ideas to the next level. She uses the latest camera equipment and you can tell she is constantly looking to improve on her craft. We were having a smaller event and she was very flexible with adjusting to meet our needs. Besides being a talented professional Maria’s calm and warm personality are exactly what you need during a stressful day like your wedding or if you are someone who gets a little nervous in front of the camera.

Maria was very professional, prepared, and enthusiastic. She captured all the photos we asked for in the time that we have her. We wanted photos before the ceremony and she was prompt and effective at that, allowing the wedding to start on time. She also had a second shooter who was awesome and no hassle.

Her policy on photo rights is extremely generous and her prices are fantastic.

I had the pleasure of working with Maria for both my bridal portraits and for our wedding day. She made both events go very smoothly! I did not have any experience with photography or different poses to do but she guided us very well and had lots of suggestions that ended up as beautiful pictures we will cherish forever.

Leading up to the wedding, she was very helpful in the planning process. I got her input early on for the time of the ceremony and she knew when the lighting would be best. She made sure to get our input to see what aspects of the pictures were important to us and she made sure to capture those moments. We had a timeline for the day of the wedding and she helped us stay on track so that we would be able to get all of the family and group pictures we wanted. Without her organization and focus the day would have been much more chaotic.

I would definitely recommend Maria to photograph your event!

We were wed on a cold, yet beautiful day three months ago on Dec. 7th. My wife and I spent quite a bit of time looking for a photographer that displayed quality pictures and decent reviews. That is when we stumbled upon Maria. She had places already picked out for couple's engagement photos, which we chose Falls Lake. On our wedding day she arrived on time and was ready to go. My wife and I decided to have our couple's portraits done directly before the wedding due to time constraints on the venue we chose. Maria was able to take photographs of everyone and the entirety of the wedding while remaining almost invisible. On top of all the professionalism Maria is very kind and seemed genuinely happy to be a part of our special day. She was able to edit and post teaser photos little by little. They are wonderful photos as she has a detailed eye and is quick to pick up on what appears to be important to photograph. Overall, we were blessed to have someone as kind and professional as Maria at our wedding and we recommend her to our friends.

Working with Maria was fantastic! She was very quick to respond, very professional and fun to work with. She shot my bridal portraits and our wedding, and not only did she capture the shots that we wanted, but used her own creativity to get some other really great photos. She was also very flexible; we had a scheduling conflict arise one week before the portrait session and she was able to move her schedule around to accommodate the change. All of our photos turned out wonderfully and we couldn't have asked for more from a photographer. Maria provided us with great experiences and great photos, and we are so glad to have worked with her. We would most definitely work with her in the future.

During the stress of planning a wedding, Maria was fantastic. She kept us informed every step of the way in the planning process and helped us establish the best possible plan for the day of. She worked not only with our budget but customized our wedding experience and was sure to get all of the shots and photos that we wanted.

The day of the wedding, Maria was calm and collected, and went straight to work, getting prep shots, shots of the church and candids. Our church was very strict with photographer rules, but Maria made it work and still got terrific shots! After the ceremony, the family photos (which I've seen take forever at other weddings) went smoothly and quickly. We were even ready to leave for the reception sooner than we expected!

Maria bobbed in and out of the crowd throughout the reception, making sure to get the photos of our first dance, as well as the father/daughter dance and other must-have moments, but also catching enough photos of the guests to help jog the memory years from now.

Overall, during a joyful (yet stressful) day, Maria gave me one less thing to worry about. We received the flash drive of photos about one month after the date of the wedding and they're beautifully organized and gave us a chance to really experience the day all over again. I definitely recommend Maria's services for anyone in need of a great wedding photographer!

Maria did my bridal portraits and the photography for our wedding, and now thanks to her, we will forever get to look back on those intimate and joyous moments she captured!

One of the best things about having Maria do my photography was that she was so on top of everything. On the day that your mind is spinning with a million things, I knew I didn't need to worry about any part of the photography except going where she needed us to be for portraits :) She went about her work easily adapting to us; she is so talented, organized and gracious!

Maria is absolutely fantastic! Prior to the wedding she provided me with a detailed questionnaire to make sure that on the day of the wedding she would capture the moments that were most important to me and my husband. She was very helpful in talking me through what to expect and she offered great advice for what pictures would be best and how the timing/order of the pictures should proceed. On the the day of the wedding she was so calm and cheerful, it really put me at ease. She was flexible and willing to go with the flow when things were not exactly running according to schedule. She is personable and did a wonderful job capturing all of the people in attendance at the wedding. Within just a few weeks she already had all of my photos edited and ready to go! She also posted a cute blog that included a handful of pictures. It was a great link to send out to family and friends that wanted to see some of the highlights. I would HIGHLY recommend Maria to anyone who is looking for a photographer; you will not be disappointed!!

I have been lucky enough to have several shoots with Maria -- some just for fun, then my engagement shoot, and finally my wedding. I knew that September 28th would be such a breeze with her because of past experiences, but it was so much more than that. Not only was Maria professional, but she helped to make the day fun and stress free, while still capturing every shot that I wanted. She has a knack for this, an amazing talent, and I couldn't have ever imagined having anyone else capture my big day. Highly recommend her!!!

Maria is amazing! My boyfriend of nearly 4 years and I have been getting an annual couples shoot with her every summer we've been together and every time we just could not be happier with the results. She's incredibly talented, very professional, and worked with us on scheduling after something came up on our original date. But her photos really speak for themselves...they're amazing! Maria did an excellent job! She was very patient and worked hard to get all of the family shots that I wanted. She followed me around everywhere and took tons of pictures! My aunt was also super impressed (she really wanted to be my photographer instead of my wedding director) and we both thought that all of my pictures were beautiful. Maria was a pleasure to work with, sweet but commanding and able to organize chaos! I would highly recommend her for a wedding or any other photography needed.

I have known Maria for quite some time now and not only is she one of the most wonderful people that I know, but she is a phenomenal photographer!! We just had our engagement shoot with her last weekend. It was super hot -- we were sweating insanely -- and yet, somehow she managed to make us look flawless! She has awesome experience with this and we can't even wait for her to shoot our wedding in September!!!

Maria was very helpful from the very beginning! She scheduled times to talk with me on the phone and really spent time hearing what we wanted. My favorite photos were the sunset ones of just me and my husband- Maria made us feel relaxed and they turned out beautifully!
