The Best - Amazing relationships and perfect execution!
Maria Lugo's reputation is well deserved. She has excellent relationships with all the major vendors in Puerto Rico, which makes coordination and planning more efficient and effective. She does all she can to ensure that your vision is executed by all the different vendors involved and really stands up for you as a bride. She really makes sure you are happy and supported and truly cares. Her relationships with all the vendors and venues in Puerto Rico is enough of a reason to hire her. However, the day of the wedding her and her team truly execute so that you don't have to worry about a thing. I could not recommend her enough!-

Destination wedding
Maria was the best wedding planner! She helped planned our multi-cultural wedding and did an amazing job. She knows everyone and when I had a difficult time getting in touch with someone, she would reach out to them. Our wedding was originally planned for April 2020 but with COVID, we had to postpone TWICE! She was there throughout it all and assured us it would work out. I live in the states, so communication was important and she was always responsive! Hire Maria if you can, couldn’t recommend her enough. She’s the sweetest person and you won’t regret it. -

Premier Planner
Maria Lugo has a reputation for excellence in Puerto Rico and it is well deserved. She kept us and the vendors on track, gave us great suggestions, and calmed me down multiple times (especially when our wedding was postponed twice due to COVID). I literally did nothing on the wedding day and she and her team just handled everything to perfection. She has institutional knowledge and relationships with all of the vendors in Puerto Rico that is invaluable. I would recommend her to anyone thinking about getting married in Puerto Rico!!!! Maria is the absolute best!!!! She is worth absolutely every penny. -

Best planner ever!
I can't say enough great things about Maria! She was beyond amazing, very organized, responsible, caring, funny, patient and detail oriented. Our wedding was PERFECT. She guided us through every step of the process and the final result was unbelievable. In collaboration with our vendors, she brought our vision to a reality and I will be forever grateful. The Best Wedding Planner in PR!
It’s true what they say that Maria is the best wedding planner in Puerto Rico. She made sure every detail was perfect, assisted us with selecting the best vendors, and looked out for our best interest as a couple! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding planner. I wasn’t worried the entire wedding planning process, and everything went off without a hitch! If you want to enjoy your entire wedding planning process, have no worries during the wedding, you MUST hire Maria! Our wedding was PERFECT thanks to her and the relationships she has with the best wedding professionals in Puerto Rico. -

Amazing Experience – very thankful
We met Maria at the NYC Destination Wedding Expo, thanks to Iris from Condando Vanderbilt. Maria can handle anything that comes her way and she never stresses out. She would always make me feel calm and secure about everything (which is super important as a bride & groom).
We took a trip to PR to view the venues we had in mind for our wedding. We met with Maria for lunch before visiting the venues and instantly connected with her, she was very organized and gave us a complete layout of her vision after learning about our story, who we are and what we expect. She was available every step of the way and gave us multiple recommendations to make our decision process so much easier.
After helping us pick the venue while we were in P.R., she gave us a list of vendors to speak with and even got us in touch with a photographer who was able to meet with us in New York that we eventually hired. We interviewed vendors and hired them as we went along with wedding planning.
I enjoyed how she always made my husband feel included in all the planning and made sure his ideas were implemented and included for our wedding. He wanted to have the wedding legally done in PR and the process could have been overwhelming if we would have did it alone.
Maria helped us by going with us to the court and ensuring all our documents were good to go before we flew out to PR. We spent the day with her and it never felt like it was a job for her. We had a great breakfast together and a great conversation about the wedding and life’s happenings. We all became friends. She was naturally invested in making our day special.
Thanks to Maria, we had the best team for our wedding day! We had multiple check-ins throughout the year and she would let me know time frames for things, such as when to have my wedding dressed picked by, when to book certain vendors by and her input was always welcomed.
We met some amazing people during our journey. Maria’s recommendations and meticulous detail in scheduling made it so we were able to focus on each other and our guests. We formed a true friendship with her throughout this process and we are so grateful for her assistance with unforgettable memories. We are forever thankful for Maria and we hope to stay in touch and see her when we fly down to PR in the future. -

Everything you need and more
Maria is an AMAZING wedding planner! I thought that planning a destination wedding in Puerto Rico from the continental U.S. was going to be challenging... Maria made the entire process completely painless! She made sure I stayed on track with whatever tasks I needed to complete, and she took care of the rest. Choosing vendors was so easy with her help. Maria helped me narrow down the vendor list and choose the perfect fit. Having her around during meetings made me feel more confident in my decisions because she always gave me the pros and cons, providing support whenever I needed it. Maria always had my back when other people gave unsolicited opinions; she knows how to handle these sometimes uncomfortable and overwhelming situations with amazing professionalism. Maria will always give her honest opinion when asked. She has an amazing ability of knowing exactly what you’re thinking or what your vision is and how to explain it, even if you can’t quite articulate it yourself.
Maria also takes care of all the legal requirements for getting married in PR. This was an huge relief because the legal process can be very overwhelming. The day of the wedding was stress-free because Maria and her team kept everyone on track. She makes sure each vendor has a detailed schedule with every event happening throughout the day. It helps that Maria knows and has worked with basically everyone in the PR wedding industry!
I would 100% recommend Maria to any bride looking for a stress-free wedding planning experience.-

Excellent Planner
I contacted Maria about 10 months prior to my wedding to begin the planning process in Puerto Rico. Since I’m not a local, I was a bit nervous and hesitant to booking vendors and a venue sight unseen. After my initial communication with Maria she put both my fiancé and me at ease and gave us all the helpful tips and suggestions after hearing our specific needs. Closer to the wedding date we began communicating a bit more frequently as she began preparing final details. She made my wedding day go absolutely flawlessly and made sure nothing skipped a beat. I remember the moment I wanted to book Maria Lugo. We were getting to know each other on the phone and discussing wedding possibilities. I mentioned some décor I saw on her Instagram and she flat out told me it was out of my budget. I knew I needed someone honest to keep me grounded so that I didn’t lose sight of the budget and my wedding didn’t take over my life. At the same time, Maria always wants you to be happy and she has many creative solutions to help accommodate what you want. The vendors she recommends are top notch. If there’s any aspect of the wedding you’re not interested in being “hands on” you can trust the vendors she recommends to execute things flawlessly. On the rare occasion where we did have a misunderstanding with a vendor, we always felt comfortable talking to Maria and she always helped us clear things up. I don’t know how I would have managed without her! On the wedding day she was ON it. She has a way of multitasking, noticing little details that can be improved, while also being at a distance for you to just enjoy the day with your loved ones. I noticed her a couple hours before the ceremony where she helped sort out my accessories for details pictures, make sure my robe looked cute during the video, steamed one of my bridesmaid’s dress at the last minute, and this was just her interactions with me. She’s also making sure the vendors are on time, get paid, are setting up, and I assume other things that I can’t even fathom because I’m not a wedding planner. Once the wedding started, I only saw her a few times because she executes things behind the scenes while everyone is having fun. I’m so happy I didn’t have to think about anything during the wedding. Just the actual emotions of love, joy, celebrating, and having fun. My wedding was flawless and a huge reason is because of Maria’s impeccable work. The other reason is because my other vendors were also fantastic, and they were almost all recommended by Maria. The one exception was a music -

Working with Maria was a joy and a blessing! My Husband was the one who actually found Maria through wedding wire and together read through all her amazing reviews. Shortly after, we looked her up on Facebook and instantly fell in love with her sense of style. We reached out to her to set up an informational call and she responded promptly. During our call, we immediately feel in love with her energy and eagerness to work with us. She was extremely knowledgeable on Puerto Rico’s wedding laws and had an extensive list of very talented vendors at her disposal.
We had planned our wedding for October 7th, 2017 but had to postpone it to June due to Hurricane Maria. Maria kept in contact with us prior to and after the hurricane, and guided us through rescheduling the date and coordinated the planning process with all our vendors. Without a doubt everything turned out Amazing. Maria and her team of vendors made sure that our vision was implemented and exceeded our expectations. As you know, weddings can be hectic and things can get disorganized quickly. However, all everyone kept mentioning, was how impressed they were with how Maria coordinated our timeline and kept everything organized and on scheduled. She was there from the beginning to the end and made sure that everything ran smoothly. I don’t think we could have done it without her because she took charge of everything, which is why my husband and I were able to enjoy our big day! If anyone is looking for a destination wedding coordinator, I promise that you won’t fine anyone better than Maria! Best decision my husband and I made.

Maria Lugo has a reputation as you can see by her reviews that precedes herself. When my husband and I first decided to do a destination wedding I felt it necessary to hire a wedding planner to help facilitate all of our needs due to our busy lives and the distance. After careful research we found Maria and were able to meet her in our hometown during a destination wedding expo. Well I think we could say - It was love at first sight! :) Maria has a way about her that is just salt to the earth. As our wedding planner she exemplified what we needed and wanted. She was honest, provided exceptional recommendations, was detailed in our planning and extremely organized. On my wedding day every single second was seamless and effortless. There was not one single hiccup. I must say Maria takes extreme pride in what she does and engulfs it in a friendly warmness that makes you instantly comfortable. If you are looking for a destination-wedding planner, YOU HAVE FOUND HER! Maria is well organized, prepared, flexible, cool under pressure and a pleasure to work/celebrate with! Our wedding was slated for October 14, 2017 but Hurricane Maria devastated the island on Sept. 20th; while preparing for the hurricane, Maria was contacting me the night before to reassure me that everything would be fine no matter what (dedication to her craft!!!!). We rescheduled our wedding for June 9, 2018 and every detail was breathtaking. Like Maria says, “Salió de show”! We could not be more pleased with her and her group of contacts who truly cared about our day and us. Thank you so much Maria Lugo for all your hard work and all the love you put into every detail!

My husband and I got married on 05/19/2018 in Restaurant Zafra del Caribe at Gurabo PR and Maria Lugo was our wedding coordinator. She was GREAT in every sense of the word. She was available when we needed her by phone, text, or to meet in person. She was very professional and very organized. I knew since my first phone call with her that she was the one and I was not wrong. Her list of suppliers and her recommendations were the best. She was great in providing her input and understanding our needs and wishes. During the wedding day, both her and her assistant were AMAZING!!! If you are getting married in PR on a destination wedding or a regular wedding, don't hesitate to have Maria as your wedding coordinator. You will be very pleased with the results. -

Maria Lugo is hands down the best wedding planner! Her name alone carries so much respect on the island (Puerto Rico). When I first started the wedding planning process, I decided to go at it alone. Then, hurricane Maria happened and I knew I needed help. I interviewed several wedding planners via phone and quickly realized that getting a wedding planner involved halfway through the process could be problematic especially when it came to pricing. Not with Maria though! Where other wedding planners were all about trying to push me to commit as quick as possible, Maria was very thorough, answering all my questions, and never once mentioned signing any contract until I came back to her to let her know that I wanted to work with her. Throughout the wedding planning process she connected me with the best vendors for my vision. She let me send wedding favors to her address and also let me send payments to her for vendors that didn’t accept e-payments. Above all, she made my wedding a BREEZE. She took charge the whole wedding week which was definitely not easy with MANY MANY personalities that come with families and friends like mine and my husband’s. She got everyone in line and ensured that our wedding day ran seamlessly. She even won my super bossy Puerto Rican mom over haha. Seriously she is GREAT. Maria was so valuable to us during our destination wedding planning! She is so organized and has been through the process so many times, that she can answer any questions and always knows what to do. She handled our anxiety and nerves so well and was quick to solve any problems that came up throughout the process. When planning a wedding from afar, you need someone like her to guide you through the very complicated and exhausting process. My first meeting with Maria was at a Starbucks in Dorado and I felt like I had known her for years. She made me feel super comfortable. She is extremely sweet, professional and very detailed oriented. Our wedding was absolutely PERFECT! Everything looked exceptionally beautiful, Maria was on top of everything and thanks to that we were able to enjoy every second of our BIG DAY!! Also I had the best vendors ever!!! but everything goes back to Maria, her advice and services, I’m so happy to have had her as our wedding planner and I will highly recommend her to anyone! We cannot say enough good things about Maria Lugo! As the mother of the bride, living half way across the USA, we were thrilled our "kids" chose Maria Lugo to coordinate their wedding. Maria Lugo is an expert wedding planner who has an incredible work ethic. She is professional, efficient and a must have! Maria did all the ground work for us. From suggesting vendors to coaching us on what to look for in a good vendor to supporting us with all our questions, she was outstanding. She helped us by coordinating contracts with the venue, rentals and caterer for the Rehearsal Dinner. Savvy and experienced, Maria skillfully took care of all the details, executing our wishes, all while keeping us informed via text and email in a timely fashion. Her recommendations for vendors were wonderful. Everyone she recommended was professional, friendly and of excellent quality. She took charge without over stepping and was in constant communication with us by phone/email/text the entire year. Every potential "problem" that arose Maria had a solution and answers for and took care of it immediately. The day of the wedding was 100% stress free and it was so organized that we only had to worry about getting ready for the wedding. Maria did a spectacular job coordinating the day, the vendors, the details, as well as setting up the venue. Working with Maria Lugo seemed more like we were working with someone we knew thanks to her friendly demeanor and her personalized suggestions. It never seemed like Maria dreaded doing a single thing for our daughter’s wedding; she is obviously someone who loves her job. Everyone who attended the wedding said it was the best or one of the best weddings they had ever been to. Most people mentioned the attention to detail, which was all Maria. I found Maria through 2 other weddings she planned at the venue we were interested in. From the very beginning of meeting to the last moments even after the wedding have been everything we dreamed of and more because of her. She was there for me through every step of the way. Her style and uniqueness is what I love most and I would not make a planning or design decision without her. Everyone from my guests to others that saw some of the footage from my wedding will not stop talking about how beautiful everything was and how it was the best wedding they have ever been to. We will never forget our wedding weekend in Puerto Rico and we give all our thanks to Maria and our amazing team of vendors.

I just came back from meeting Maria A Lugo and I must say "she is amazing'! My wedding schedule for 12/3/2017 and I am super excited to work with her! You can tell that she loves what she does and is very good at it! Without even signing my contract she spent hours with me touring my venue and providing lots of suggestions. She also picked me up from my hotel and took me to AKUA and spent more of her time with me! She is very respected and everyone that asked who I was working with spoke highly over her!! I kept hearing "your working with the best"! I am excited to have her on my team!!

I started the destination wedding planning by doing it myself, big mistake! Having Maria as our planner was the best decision we made. She was very helpful through the planning process, and helping to get the license in Puerto Rico. . On the actually wedding day she made everything flow perfectly so we could concentrate on our special day and guests! At the end of the evening all of our wedding items were neatly packed and put into our room by her and her staff. She is excellent and a good communicator. -

We were having a destination wedding in OSJ, PR with 75 guests. Unfortunately, the current wedding planner we had was not a good fit for us and we parted ways. We were so worried as we were 10 weeks before the wedding date. Upon the recommendation of a local friend, she introduced us to Maria Lugo. By some miracle she had our wedding date/weekend open. She jumped right in and took charge. Words cannot begin to express how amazing and professional Maria is. We had a very “outside the box” foodie wedding weekend. 10 weeks before our wedding we still didn’t have service for the welcome dinner, décor, lighting… you name it, we didn’t have it. She executed everything right away. She completely saved our wedding. We had the most memorable and beautiful weekend imaginable and none of it could have been done without her. She is so organized and absolutely knows what she is doing. As stated, our wedding weekend was not traditional and outside the box. We had a black tie, 6 course wine paired wedding dinner and attention to detail and proper execution was a must. Maria executed everything to perfection. She has many vendors and connections and she knows how to create your vision. If I had a question about anything, she was always prompt to answer and available. She literally was my fairy godmother!
Maria Lugo is so special. If you want a typical pre-packaged wedding in a box, I’m sure she will be happy to do that and she’ll do it beautifully. However, she is so much more than that! If you want a spectacular wedding of your dreams, Maria Lugo is it. We are so lucky to have found such an amazing wedding planner, whom we now consider a friend and holds such a special place in our hearts. It is no surprise why she is THE BEST in Puerto Rico. Hiring Maria was the best decision we ever made. Please know that with Maria you will get a truly gifted professional and such class. If I could give her 10 stars, I would. We love Maria!

We were so fortunate to have Maria as our wedding coordinator. She helped us put together the best vendor team. Her suggestions were on point! Her ideas, knowledge, and experience are invaluable. It is evident that everyone knows and respects Maria and the work she does. Maria worked with us on every small detail...She even helped us coordinate a spa day for the bridal party. We were able to plan the entire wedding without making a trip to San Juan, which was necessary due to our crazy schedules. Maria made this possible and we never had a doubt in our mind that she was guiding us wonderfully. When we got to town she was able to take us to get all of the documents required to be legally married in Puerto Rico, which was very very helpful. The whole wedding planning process was fun and as stress free as possible thanks to Maria! -

My wife and I at first were skeptical about hiring a wedding planner as we weren't crystal clear about the value they would bring to our process. After interviewing several wedding planners for our destination wedding, it became clear that having a wedding planner would be a necessity for us. We chose Maria Lugo as she acted with the utmost professionalism, was a great communicator and very easy to work with. From the beginning, Maria took the time to ask us questions and find out what we valued most. In addition to this, she always provided several vendors and offered her candid opinion on whom provided the best work for an optimal price point. In summary, Maria was terrific to deal with from start to finish, paid very close attention to all the details, and had a knack for anticipating all of our needs. -

My story is probably a little different than most. I contracted Maria pretty late in the planning process with only 4 months to go. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with my previous planner and didn't know what else to do. After reaching out to Maria (who came highly recommended by one of our venues), she immediately responded with such professionalism and excitement, and thankfully she was available for our date!
Thanks to Maria, our wedding was everything we imagined and more. She really understood my vision and executed it to the fullest. Not only is she a true professional, but every single person she works with is held to the highest of standards as well. This is SO important when having a destination wedding. My only regret is that I wish I would have found her sooner! -

Hiring Maria as your wedding planner will be the best decision you make for your wedding. She knew and recommended the best vendors. She had beautiful, unique ideas. It is very clear that she loves what she does and because of that she was so much fun to be around. All the venues and vendors we spoke to knew who Maria was and clearly respected her and held her in high regard. She's extremely responsive and worked with numerous members of my family to get their questions answered. Maria and her team are highly organized, and didn't miss a single detail during the wedding which is remarkable because our wedding had a ton of small unique details. I read reviews on WeddingWire to find my wedding planner and took a chance on Maria. I was not disappointed. Maria made planning my destination wedding so easy. She worked behind the scenes with vendors to make sure everything went flawlessly. She even gave me a ride to the Cathedral and back when our transportation fell through. She was very flexible. Planning a destination wedding from the states is not easy, but from the start Maria made me feel like family! She was readily available and had great ideas to help me work within my budget while still allowing us to keep our wedding full of class! Every vendor she suggested to us was perfect. My husband and I said after the wedding was over,"I don't think I would have changed anything, everything was perfect!" Maria met us at every appointment and helped point us in the right direction. She even incorporated all of my pinterest decorations that I wanted to use into our ceremony and reception! When things seemed to feel stressful for me, it lasted about five minutes, as Maria and I would laugh about something and move onto our next task. I'm honestly unable to imagine having to take care of all the last minute details myself, or burden a guest with those responsibilities. Maria had our entire wedding weekend running like a well oiled machine and it allowed me and my family to focus on just enjoying the moment. Marias list of recommended vendors is exceptional and she completely understood the vibe I wanted with my decorations. She communicated on my behalf to vendors to make sure the look we wanted was what was executed. Maria is absolutely wonderful! I had met her previously when she helped with my sister's wedding in San Juan six years ago and am so glad we had her involved in ours recently.
My wife and I were looking to have a wedding that was nice, but not overly extravagant. Maria gave us a small selection of venues to look at that fit into our price range, and the first place on the list blew us away. We didn't need to look any further after visiting the venue. It was absolutely magical!!! I can't imagine a more perfect spot to have a wedding and reception.
She also knocked it out of the park with her list of vendors. The caterer she recommended could not have made the night more perfect. Our dinner is still being talked about by family and friends. We also were looking for a variety of live music that would fit our style and the experience of the island, and her suggestions were on point.
When we arrived in Puerto Rico, we were in contact with her right away and we met with her the first morning to take care of all paperwork and final details. She seriously looks at it from every angle and wants to make sure the whole event is what you're wanting. She takes into consideration both your dreams and the experience for your guests.
When the big day came, she was a rock star. We had chosen to do a few things ourselves and she jumped in to help make it even more beautiful than we had imagined. I met with her when I arrived onsite and went over all payments and details of the evening. After that, she took the reigns and we NEVER had to think about another detail again. Everything behind the scenes was handled by her and her assistant and all we had to do was enjoy our special night.
Maria truly turned a special night into the most magical thing we've ever been a part of. We are friends for life now and I can't wait to go back and visit with her again! -

Our wedding was more beautiful and perfect than I would have ever imagined. We could not have pulled it off without Maria. Planning from afar, Maria provided a list of all vendors and recommendations to begin and then guided us throughout our planning process. We had made at least two trips to PR before our wedding and she met with us each trip. She knows exactly what she's doing and it is evident she is experienced with destination weddings, the venues, the vendors and ceremonies. I trusted and felt confident she would allow us to have a stress free wedding. She even came to my rescue with a dress mishap 5 minutes before I was supposed to take photos. She has done it all and takes care of it! I also want to note she was extremely helpful with the steps and process to get our marriage license in PR. She made sure we had the correct paperwork and she even picked us up and drove us to the government office. Maria is great and I highly recommend her to plan your wedding. -

Planning a destination wedding in Puerto Rico from Boston could have been a daunting task for any couple! Luckily we had the opportunity to work with Maria Lugo, who over the course of a year guided us through every step of the journey of wedding planning. She was there for it all, from helping find the venue of our dreams to the last tiny details of our reception. Not to mention she is an expert in navigating the legal marriage requirements in Puerto Rico. She was flexible and responsive to all texts, calls and emails responding asap or within 24 hours making no question seem too small. Maria’s taste and expertise help guide us to select wedding vendor professionals who shared our vision for this special day and respected our budget. Maria really understood us a couple and took into account our feelings making sure we were comfortable with every decision. If i could give Maria Lugo 10 stars, I would! Five out of five doesn't seem to be enough. We live in NYC and hired Maria to help us plan our destination wedding at the St. Regis Bahia Beach in Puerto Rico. Every review mentioned how flexible and professional she was, but she quickly became so much more than a wedding planner, she became a great friend. She understood our vision, asked tons of questions to make sure every detail was covered, answered every call and text within seconds, and made our wedding everything we imagined and more. Her expertise with vendors on the island was extensive (she knew exactly who to call from florists and bands, to cigar rollers, tropical popsicles, and custom cupcakes). She was not only professional, she was FUN to work with. We shared countless meals together and she recommended restaurants, bars, and other hidden gems of the city that we could enjoy and pass along to our friends. Where shall I begin? I can follow a typical review on professionalism and price, which will be informative and to the point; or, I can reflect on our experience from the heart? We choose the latter. Maria Lugo is HANDS DOWN the best destination wedding planner on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Trust me, I did the research. Her counsel was solid. Maria's professionalism was on completely point, and her recommendations on vendors, where to spend money, where to save, etc. was honest. Maria made us feel like family and she took great care of us. In full transparency, I am not only a PR executive and part of my job is to execute media-worthy events, but I am also fully bilingual in English and Spanish. I mention this because my now-husband questioned why there was a need for a coordinator -- I spoke the native language, I plan events for a living, I am very familiar with Puerto Rico and had already done the leg work to contract other vendors. "Why the need for a coordinator?," he asked several times. After meeting Maria and spending the day together pre-wedding, he agreed that the decision to work with Maria was one of the very best decisions we made. She saved us tons of time with the Demographic Registry Office and fully prepared us for getting our marriage license in Puerto Rico. Maria helped us prepare our "Welcome Bags" and even dropped a few of the bags off at a different hotel. She was patient and completely thorough during our rehearsal, and she was a lifesaver on our wedding day. The island suffered a drought all year, but on our wedding day the skies opened and showered us with a flash flood! Honestly, rain on our wedding day was one of my biggest fears, but Maria (and the amazing team of vendors) rolled up their sleeves, prepared for Plan B, and a romantic wedding took place on October 25th. I know what you are looking for in a planner/coordinator, I've been there...FIVE STARS isn't nearly enough. Maria is the one! -

Working with Maria was the best decision we ever made. Knowing I am a micromanager, I knew I needed someone local to be my voice when I couldn't be there, a liaison to the vendors, and my friend when I was stressed and confused. When I reached out to planners, some wrote back with contracts and specific rules on how many times I could email them. Maria simply called me, asked how I imagined my wedding, and how she could help make that happen. That initial phone call sealed the deal for me, she was everything I was looking for and so much more.
We traveled to PR a yr before the wedding to meet with Maria and our vendors. She devised a seamless plan and her suggestions were highly valued. Throughout the yr of planning, she was there very step of the way. She is pretty much like local celebrity and everywhere we went, we ran into people she knew who raved about her! This really helped when we were trying to get our marriage license, which is as painful as the DMV on a Saturday. Additionally, she allowed me to ship things, like my wedding dress, which was a lifesaver! She uses Pinterest, Instagram skype, email, Facebook, text messages, and phone calls to stay in contact with you and share ideas at all times, definitely worth checking out her previous work! Stunning!!!
My wedding day was relaxing and problem free. Maria is the most classy, stylish, professional woman and it has been such a pleasure to worth with her. We had complete trust in her. Our guests enjoyed meeting her and complemented her nonstop! I cannot recommend her enough!! My wedding was an unforgettable experience. It was a pleasure working with Maria as our wedding planner for our destination wedding! Maria was referred to us by our Décor Vendor, Lorraine’s Flowers. We are so very fortunate that Maria was available for our wedding weekend. We originally were not sure if we had the budget for a wedding planner and thought perhaps we could handle the planning all ourselves. We arranged for a meeting with Maria JUST in case. Candidly, she told us at the end of our face time call that regardless of which wedding planner we select to remember that our wedding day is OUR day. After speaking to her we quickly realized the huge VALUE in having an experienced wedding planner like Maria, on our side and that truly does care about her clients. Working with Maria for about 7 months, revealed how honest, sincere, and responsive Maria is. She truly cares about the people she works with, and looks out for everyone’s best interest - ours, the vendors, etc.
A few months into our planning we quickly realized we had outgrown our initial reception venue. Frantically we called Maria and she quickly calmed us down and told us not to worry. Thanks to her, we were able to book the Salon Campeche at El Convento for our reception and El Catedral for our Ceremony. She was able to accommodate all of our requests and always kept a positive attitude throughout the whole planning process, which was very important! Without Maria our wedding would not have turned out as spectacular as it did.

I cannot say enough good things about Maria. She truly cares about her clients and wants to make sure that they have a perfect wedding. We got married at the Ritz Reserve in Dorado and Maria was our wedding planner. I am a lawyer and a control freak, so I was nervous about planning a destination wedding from New York. Maria was one of the wedding planners recommended by the Ritz, and I am so glad that we hired her. From the moment we met her, we knew that she was the one to help us make our wedding everything that we dreamed of.
Maria has amazing taste, and every recommendation that she gave us was spot on. From restaurants, to venues to vendors, Maria is a wealth of knowledge. Everyone she recommended was professional and did an amazing job. She is extremely responsive by email, which made the process so much less stressful for me. She was great about following up with vendors without me even having to ask her. She did so much work behind the scenes to make sure our wedding ran smoothly.
I had ZERO stress during our wedding weekend. We had multiple events (rehearsal dinner, welcome reception, wedding, after party, day after brunch), and they all went off without a hitch! I am sure that issues came up, but I never had to hear of or deal with them. Maria took care of everything. Our wedding weekend was PERFECT...better than we could have ever imagined.
If you are looking for a wedding planner, you need to hire Maria! I do not know what we would have done without her. -

Even though we had been to Puerto Rico before, when we first started planning our wedding, we knew we needed help. We met Maria on a wedding planning trip to Puerto Rico, during which she scheduled a day for us to sample the goods and services of numerous vendors. I liked that, while Maria had opinions about the various vendors, she let us choose the vendors that made us the most comfortable.
After that initial planning trip, the only times I really contacted Maria were when we had issues with our venue. She went above-and-beyond to resolve these issues, even making hourly calls to ensure that our ceremony site was booked when the venue hadn't applied for the permit.
Maria really made the most impact the days before the wedding and on the wedding day itself. She's an expert at putting out fires and at calming brides down. A small number of wedding details went sideways the day of the wedding, but since Maria knew our vision for the wedding, she made sure that they were fixed without even bothering me about it! (I loved this!)
I also really like Maria's personality: She's incredibly laid-back but pushy when the situation requires. She's mature enough to handle sticky vendor and family situations. And she's very kind and caring and added special details of her own to our wedding day. (She and her assistant showered us with wedding petals during our last dance. It was beautiful!)
Overall, hiring Maria as our wedding coordinator was one of the BEST DECISIONS we made when planning our wedding. We don't regret a single penny spent! -

Maria was AMAZING! She was not our wedding planner, but she was the "boots on the ground" that guided us through the process of making our marriage in Puerto Rico legal. She is extremely detailed and thorough. If you ever have a question or concern during the process, she will put your mind at ease and take care of everything! The day we arrived she picked us up from our hotel and drove us to all of the places we needed to go to get our marriage license, sworn statement, etc. I could not have done this without her! Hire her. Seriously, hire her. Maria was the most amazing resource for me during the entire wedding planning process. Beyond providing an amazing list of vendors and recommendations for how to conceptualize my "theme", she was also a therapist when I was worried and anxious (hint: that happened a lot) and an advocate for me when a specific issue arose early in the planning process. She guided us seamlessly through the process of getting a marriage license in Puerto Rico, and her wedding day coordination was flawless. If something went wrong on my wedding day, I have no idea what it was - to me, the day was perfect, magical and a dream come true. I credit this all to Maria. Besides saying yes to my husband, hiring Maria was the best decision I made. -

Maria made our wedding flow smoothly. She was always responsive from the beginning and I know I wasn't the easiest bride-to-be since I am a perfectionist. She made our marriage license paperwork process easy which took less time than we expected. She was honest and realistic when asked for her opinion on wedding details. Her honesty was crucial to us since there can be vendors that will try to squeeze every cent out of you.
Every detail I provided her to use for our big day was executed well and allowed us and our guests enjoy the entire day. We had a small intimate wedding of 23 at La Concha and Maria with her assistant made us feel special.
She also recommended the best vendors to work with on the island and they all worked in harmony to make everything happen! I recommend Maria to every couple who want a destination wedding, since it can seem overwhelming at first when you are so far away.
Gracias Maria, you are the best of all planners!! -

Wonderful! I do not think my wedding day would have been the same without her. She was able to work with the venue to make everything beautiful and even accommodated for changes during the event. She was always professional and made sure my husband and I got the ceremony we wanted. She was even able to help me find last minute help for my nails and my mother-in-law's hair! I highly recommend Maria Lugo's wedding planning services. She made the wedding planning process a stress-free experience, something I believed was impossible... Hands down the best planning experience ever!
Maria is truly a dedicated professional in her field. She is extremely knowledgeable and will guide you in every step of the process. Since my first meeting with her, she suggested different locations for the ceremony and the reception, and exposed all the pros and cons of having an event such as ours. We evaluated the best option for us and I have to say that, thanks to Maria's suggestions, our event was a success. We wanted a beach ceremony and indoor reception. Maria directed us to see certain locations that were appropriate for such, and gladly we picked the right place. Because of a tropical storm we couldn't have our beach ceremony. However, the location suggested by Maria had a Plan B (indoors) that saved the day! (Hint: If you want to have your event outdoors, remember, PR is a TROPICAL island, it can pour when you least expect it.)
The add-ons and the connections that Maria has in this industry are the BEST across the board: decorators, photographers, cigar rollers, batucadas, music bands, dancers, people in stilts... You name it and Maria will get it! Not even the tropical storm hitting PR in our wedding day interfered with our big day. Maria ran our even smoothly and seamlessly.

Having Maria Lugo as our wedding planner was an absolute godsend. I honestly don't know how we would have navigated the destination wedding process without her! Leading us through the marriage license and church process alone would have made the cost worth it---but she does so much more than just that! All of her recommended vendors were fantastic and within budget. She was responsive to my (many) emails throughout the planning process and answered all of my questions readily and thoroughly. She helped us through lots of last minute challenges and truly put my mind at ease---I didn't have to worry about anything...I knew Maria had it all under control! She is the ultimate professional. On top of all that--she's fun to be around! Why would you ever want to get married in Puerto Rico without her? Trust me, she's worth every cent. -

Mrs. Maria Lugo is very professional. She was the person whom we communicated with regarding our marriage license and paperwork needed in order to get married in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Lugo made the process of gathering numerous paperwork easy. Before our wedding date, every time I emailed her or called her, she responsed quickly and was very informative. Once we were in Puerto Rico, she made contact with us immediately. Mrs. Lugo was professional, friendly and fun to be with. We spent an entire afternoon with her and she was very informative as to what to do and not do while in Puerto Rico. By the end of our time together with her, I was sad to say goodbye. First let me start off by saying Maria is a gad-send!!! When I decided to get married in PR I just started graduate school and knew I would need help with the planning process. I remember trying to find vendors and venues by looking online and it was a little overwhelming. It's hard to be confident in trusting someone you've never met before with one of the most important days of your life. After reading reviews I decided to go with my gut and hire Maria. This was by far the best decision I made. She is absolutely AMAZING!!!! She is so warm and inviting and really makes you feel as though you are her daughter and your wedding day is just as important to her as it is to you. She was very patient with me since I'm such an indecisive person. She gave me a list of vendors that she has worked with in the past and recommended which vendors she think would best suit my personality and they were all outstanding!! On my wedding day I had not one worry in the world thanks to Maria. Every one at my wedding came up to me to tell me how on point and great she was. Going with Maria was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She was amazing. She made herself available to us from the second we landed on the island 4 days to the wedding, and showed up at my hotel room and didn't leave my side really early on the wedding day.
I did not have to worry about anything on the wedding day (and i'm type A, so that's extremely rare). Maria made me feel so comfortable, and she was always on top of everything. Even during the wedding, when my bustle broke, she pulled out a box of safety pins and hooked me up :)
I would highly recommend her to anyone getting married in PR -

Maria is amazing, she was simply the best wedding coordinator we could possibly ask for!
- She was extremely considerate with our schedule and availability. 6 months prior to the wedding, during our first visit with Maria, she had set up meetings with all the vendors we had shortlisted so that we could meet them all in person within a matter a of days.
- She has an amazing list of vendors that are top-notch with years of experience. She was also open to working with several new vendors that we had brought on, and had contacted all of them ahead of time to make sure everyone was on the same page.
- She loves creativity and worked with us and our decorator to ensure our specific customs and special requests were incorporated into the details. She immediately understood our theme and what we wanted to accomplish for our wedding.
- She gives very good advice and suggestions! She's extremely experienced in her field and her personal advice to us, saved us many hours of unnecessary work! =)

My daughter and I interviewed 3 wedding planners by phone before deciding on Maria Lugo. From the very beginning, she was organized, professional, and responsive. We met with her in Puerto Rico 4 months before the wedding. We had a very long planning session the first day. The second day we met with and interviewed many vendors and had a tasting at the wedding venue. Maria was with us all the time helping us make decisions and offering valuable suggestions. Whenever we needed to speak with Maria during those months before the wedding she always returned our calls immediately. I can't stress the importance of that enough. The first time I spoke with Maria on the phone I told her I felt like I was speaking with an aunt and that same feeling of love and caring carried throughout my 1 1/2 year planning period! Maria is the ultimate professional in PR destination wedding planning and she was a godsend for me throughout the process. I had a good part of our vendors already contracted when I hired Maria and fortunately for me, they were all vendors that she works with regularly so I knew that my wedding was in amazing hands. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Maria! We knew wanted to do a destination wedding in San Juan and that we did not want to be stressed out with planning it ourselves but were feeling completely overwhelmed with how to go about doing that without going through a resort-type place with pre-planned wedding packages. Then Maria was recommended to us by Hotel El Convento where we had our reception. Hiring Maria was our absolute best decision! She immediately handled all the arrangements for us to be married in the Cathedral, and after I spoke with her about what we envisioned for the wedding, she recommended the vendors she felt would provide us the services that we were looking for and I loved every single vendor that we had. From the very beginning until our wedding day, Maria was always available to answer questions or give advice right away, and to take care of anything that needed to be done there. I never felt rushed or had to wait to hear back from her, and there seemed to be no limit to her time. And once we arrived in San Juan the week of our wedding, Maria personally took us to get the license squared away and meet with the Cathedral, and she ensured that everything ran perfectly smoothly so that we were able to focus only on enjoying the wedding! I did not feel any stress whatsoever on the wedding day!
Not only is Maria efficient, incredibly helpful, and easy to communicate with, but she is a truly wonderful, caring person who loves what she does. We felt that she personally cared about us and our making our wedding day perfect for us, and when we met her we felt like we were old friends. I would absolutely encourage anyone looking for a wedding planner to hire Maria - she's the best and we love her! -

We were married on January 25th, 2014. Maria Lugo was our wedding planner. Our wedding was a kinda destination wedding....the brides family lives in Puerto Rico and the grooms family flew in from New York. We were planning our wedding with Maria for about a year. It was an AWESOME experience! We live in in Boston and it was very easy to coordinate Skype meetings or phone meetings with her. As the bride, I flew to Puerto Rico about 4 times before the wedding and Maria was always available to meet with me....even if it was extremely short notice. Throughout the entire wedding planning process she made us feel like we were the only wedding she was working on!
I had a few moments when I was panicking a bit due to the stress of the wedding and Maria always knew what to say to make me calm down and enjoy the moment! She was extremely even tempered, even when my wedding dress was ruined and I had to get a new one two days before the wedding...she was a true professional and immediately offered suggestions....she was spot on with her recommendations for I ended up getting my wedding dress at the location she suggested (Novias Otilio Santiago) and they were AMAZING!
We also hired a lot of the vendors she recommended and were blow away by the quality of their service! We could not have asked for a better team! Maria was very good at keeping us on schedule and giving us small tasks to accomplish at a time, which was great because it lowered the amount of stress on our shoulders and made planning the wedding 100 times easier and more enjoyable!
I can't give Maria enough praise for the incredible job she did with our wedding! We would hire her again in a heartbeat!

Maria saved our wedding day. I'm not exaggerating or being dramatic, she actually saved our wedding. Like many brides, I had a vision of what my ceremony and reception would look like and did not want it any other way. Maria gently (and WISELY) suggested we set up our floor plan differently, knowing the space much better than I did (she has done many weddings there). Reluctantly, we set up the band and reception where she suggested, and thank God we did. Had we put everything where I originally wanted the wedding would have been ruined! Literally, the pouring rain that came early in the evening would have ruined the band equipment and dance floor, and it would have been too late to change everything. All I can say is, PLEASE listen to Maria, she knows what she's doing. Rain or no rain, her set up was much more conducive to dancing anyway, and everyone had SUCH a great time! (and stayed dry!)
Maria made everything run smoothly, I cannot imagine what we would have done without her. My husband and I were trying to do our wedding on a budget, and a wedding planner might seem like a logical place to cut and save money, but thank goodness we didn't. I would have been so stressed running around trying to make sure everything came together, I wouldn't have enjoyed the weekend. Thanks to Maria, I had the best time with my friends and family and didn't worry about a thing, knowing all was in her very capable hands. -

I am the mother of the bride. My daughter and her now husband both lived in Boston, our family and friends were mostly in Puerto Rico, groom's family came mostly from NY area, so we decided for a Puerto Rican sort-of destination wedding.
María Lugo was our best choice of all the choices made during the wedding planning! She is not only a true professional, but very down-to-Earth. I've already given her information to some friends who have asked who was the plannerfor our event as EVERYTHING went PERFECT. All her recommendations were spot on! José Rincón as our photographer, Blanco by Mara our decorator, Violines de Marquito for church and cocktail music, Angel Nieves-videographer, Banda SP2 and DJ---wonderful!!, Fine Line Tours for guests transportation from hotel to church and back, antique car transportation for bride --beautiful! and I'm sure there are a few more missing on this list... but ALL of them were very professional and the Wedding Day was just a magical night that we'll treasure forever in our hearts.
Thank you María for such a wonderful job!! Remember that we need to plan at least two more during the next decade or so... don't retire any time soon!!!

Maria Lugo is an enthusiastic and extremely professional wedding planner. She truly loves her job and it shows. I needed someone who could help me stay on-target with the endless list of minute details that go into planning a wedding and I felt fortunate to have Maria as an ALWAYS-positive support.
Professionalism & Responsiveness:
Maria maintained regular communication and was quick with an answer when I would ask her random questions ranging from documents I needed to details about my venue.
Maria worked with me to create a timeline of the day of the wedding as well as a month-by-month plan of my "to-do's."
She approached the wedding with the precision and strategizing of a football coach, complete with visual aids for the wedding party so they knew where to walk.
Value:
The peace of mind provided by Maria was invaluable. She is well-known throughout Puerto Rico and has great relationships with a number of vendors and representatives at different venues. When communicating with a vendor, I would often hear "You are in great hands with Maria--she is the best." If you cut from your budget, do NOT cut corners with your wedding planner. For the service provided, there really is no price tag.
Flexibility:
When I was under extreme stress in the days leading up to the wedding, Maria helped me through with poise and an attitude of "We can fix this." For example when the trial with my stylist went horribly wrong, Maria found me two new options within hours and completely put me at east that everything would be fine.
My wedding was successful because I was relaxed and knew that Maria was in the wings making sure everything went off without a hitch! -

I knew from the first time we spoke on the phone that she would be the person I would trust to help create our dream wedding (2000 miles away). She is not only an amazing wedding planner, but a wonderful person. Every phone call was a pleasure- I felt her genuine interest & desire to make the wedding we wanted a reality. There is no cookie cutter design, set number hours making it feel like a job with Maria. She is personally invested in each wedding, each couple- you can feel her passion about her work & believe she truly loves what she does. She listens to your thoughts, is 10 steps ahead creating your vision but at the same time she balances knowing when you need a calming influence & when you need her to lay down the law with vendors. She was prompt with her response, always answered my questions & made suggestions I hadn’t even thought of. If I wanted to talk on the phone, no problem we were setting up a time to discuss. Maria really goes above and beyond. She took care of issues with vendors, offered up ideas of apartments for my family when the place they had booked was a bust, she made menu cards when I had just given up on even trying to understand the ten thousand items needed for the reception and made sure we got the 2nd reading for the ceremony when told it’s not standard. Her helpfulness/advice did not just extend to me & my now husband- it extended to my family and friends as well. Maria takes the stress away so you can enjoy every minute of your day & believe me you need it because your wedding day is a magical perfect blur that is over before you know it. I can say she was there from start to finish, not just on the wedding day but on this chapter of my life. She will forever hold a place in my heart and I not only consider her the best choice I made for the wedding but a friend for life. Maria is amazing! If I could describe her work in 5 words, it would be: Organized, Knowledgeable, Attentive, Professional and Indispensable. If it was not for Maria, I don't think a destination wedding would have been feasible for me. It is possible to plan a destination wedding without a wedding planner, but why would you if you can have Maria Lugo helping along the way. From start to finish she was just what my husband and I needed for this wedding. She provided me with a list of vendors I could work with and each one went beyond my expectations. She works well with all the other vendors to keep my vision AND my budget in mind. She made my husband and I feel like celebrities as she escorted us to get all of our marriage documents in order days before the wedding. I cannot emphasize how wonderful it was to have her services. Our wedding was a dream and we thank her for it!

From our meeting in person to phone calls, and email after email she is very personable, honest, and knows what she is doing! We had ALL of the best vendors because she ONLY refers the BEST! She made the process of getting the proper paperwork for the wedding a breeze. She makes sure you don't forget anything. She made sure everything went smoothly on the wedding day, I had nothing to worry about and that was WONDERFUL because living so far away from where you will get married is stressful. It was worth every penny to have her working for us as our wedding planner! Also we had the best photographer ever, Maria's husband, Jose Rincon. They are an outstanding team! -

Maria, we honestly can't thank you enough. Planning a wedding in San Juan from Chicago was a stress-free experience thanks to you! My then-fiance wasn't convinced that a wedding planner would be "worth it", but once we arrived in Puerto Rico and met with Maria, he told me over and over again how glad he was that Maria was there to handle all the details. I worked with Maria for several months over phone and email to work out the details for our wedding, and each of her vendor recommendations was top-notch. If there was any issue with a vendor, she would get involved and the problem would magically disappear. She always understood what my vision was for the wedding, and she made it happen -- and then some! My husband and I had the best week of our lives in Puerto Rico with our closest friends and family, and we knew that we didn't have to worry about a thing. And honestly Maria, we knew that our wedding would be great -- but words can't describe how unbelievably perfect our wedding day was! I thought that I knew what to expect, but the end result knocked our socks off! Yes, it was our wedding, of course we loved it. Hi, I am the Groom(Husband) w/ my Beautiful Bride w/ my Lovely Wife (Princess). We want to 1st say THANK YOU Sooo MUCH Ms. MARIA LUGO for doing an AWESOME Planning for Our Wedding, we tried so many different times to get others to understand our language (English) and us not having much Spanish at all was a true challenge, once we knew about you from the Hotel Marriott Isla Verde and they felt my Fiance' stress in getting done what needs to be done for us.
Ms. Maria Lugo stepped in was HIGHLY Recommended and she Hit a Home Run, Slam Dunk, Hole in one, TKO.....you name it, she did it all: Ceremony, Venue Set Up, Flowers, Cake, DJ, Reception, Lighting & Decor, Photography, Event Rentals, Transportation, Beauty/Health and Unique Services-Once we found Ms. Lugo-we was able to combine 5 individuals to one and my Fiance' stress Scale was at about 8-9 went way down to a 1-2 from a scale 1-10. This all was taken place before we arrived and once there she and her staff was on the "SPOT" was FANTASTIC, everything went so smooth it was truly a Blessing and a Angel from heaven for us-.
I Promise all, the Wedding was so amazing with Ms. Lugo that the Marriott participated in our wedding showing us on the Dance Floor how to Salsa Dance....so much fun from Beginning to the End. Our wedding Party and Guest was so amazed how smooth and beautiful it was on our Special Day.
I have never wrote a review this long before but because it was so Beautiful, I want the Whole World to know how GREAT our Wedding Planner was for us and The Marriott Isla Verde.

I LOVE Maria! We did a destination wedding in PR and it was slightly challenging since we live in Chicago and also since I don't speak Spanish. Some of the vendors were a little harder to communicate with and Maria was on top of everything.
The week of the wedding, she keep me sane. She took us to get our marriage license and there was a little hiccup since my husband didn't have the right paperwork. She calmed me down when I was about to panic. Luckily it all worked out and his Mom was able to get a copy of his birth certificate before she flew down. Rehearsal Maria conducted in an hour and everything ran smoothly. She was great during the ceremony and reception and she did her best to make sure our day was beautiful and memorable.
Maria is reasonably priced and worth every penny! I feel like I gained a friend. Please use Maria, she goes above and beyond to make sure your day is perfect! Even AFTER the wedding is done, Maria helped me follow up with a couple of my vendors. You can tell that she LOVES her job which is rare. -

First I want to say Maria is sent from heaven! She was 100% on top of things, professional, putting my needs way above the vendors and making sure I got the best deals by offering plenty of choices, made sure I had all the contracts signed with the deposit, helped me with the time line of all the events and she went way beyond the call of duty to make sure I was relaxed and happy with everything. She even helped me with events outside of the wedding. Seriously, if you want someone who will make sure that you get your dream wedding, she is the ONE!!!!! I even want to say that I had a minor issue with the venue changing my original room & Maria made sure that was handled ASAP! I also realized at the last minute that I gave the DJ the wrong wedding song I quickly called Maria & she fixed it so fast I felt like she already knew what I was thinking. My Husband Byron & I (Zoe) could have written like a 3page review on Maria Lugo but I tried pasting it and obviously it is too much to put in the small space provided to write this review. Honestly Maria had made our wedding experience a stress free enviroment especially for me being the Bride. Here is a bit of our experiences we had with her that shows she goes above & beyond. Maria met us last minute the day we booked the hotel Embassy Suites In Dorado P.R. for our wedding and it was a few hours right before we had to return home to Long Island NY. We realized last minute we needed a planner & Maria came to the rescue. She laid everything out to us in simple language (she's bilingual) didn't beat around the bush , was organized and upfront to approximate prices to what our ideas & designs were & helped with improvisation. She gets the info. from you and organizes them in chart diagram form, prepares you with what you need to gather to bring for license and marriage to happen with P.R. laws. She helped with a few vendors, had the florist do a nice floral piece for our family yorkie dog "chico" around his neck as the ring bearer, getting a barber for my husband day of wedding, and prior to wedding we were late meeting w/ the lawyer due to rental car complcations and she came and scooped us up at a mall nearby. Maria just made it happen and calmed us to not worry, she will take care of it. That's what every bride needs to hear and have. Maria even helped make our wedding special w/ the incorporation of the idea of flying lanterns in memeory of my brother and husband mother who passed away not too long ago which made the experience lovely. She was personal and showed us great places to see in P.R. She was our Angel sent from above and became a friend to us.There is so much more to tell but so little room but you truly would be missing out on an awesome service & person is. -

Maria was very responsive and easy to work with. She was organized and very well prepared for our wedding ahead of time. I was a little nervous in the beginning with planning a wedding in PR from Atlanta, GA.
When we arrived to the Hotel in PR, she met us there and took us directly to obtain our marriage license, even giving us a tour of the area. She even offered to take us to the grocery store to pick up snacks for our long stay! We breezed through the license process without any issues :)
Our rehearsal was easy and to the point. Maria had the names of the wedding party and processional order ready to go. Everyone understood their roles and felt very comfortable working with her. My relatives kept expressing how great she was.
Wedding day went off without a glitch! I had absolutely no worries, Maria handled everything. She made sure the vendors were doing their part as well as members of the bridal party. She stayed through-out the entire reception, even hitting the dance floor with the family!!
Bottom line, she was more than I ever imagined. She took all of my fears away and cleared the way for our special day.

Maria provided excellent service as our Wedding Consultant/Planner. She knew exactly what documents we needed and was very responsive to emails and any questions we had. When we arrived to Puerto Rico, Maria was on time for our meeting and not only took us so we could process our paperwork, but also gave us a tour of Old San Juan as well. When we weren't sure of whom to go to for flowers, she recommended someone right away and took care of it with no hesitance. And let me add that the person she recommended did an excellent job with our flowers and had them delivered to our hotel on time. Anyone would be very lucky to have Maria as their Wedding Consultant/Planner. I would recommend her to anyone. -

I did destination wedding with Maria Lugo on June 4th 2012. My wedding planning was very late, we did not have much time to prepare. It was only groom and bride wedding. I trusted Maria on the details of the wedding, such as the place, bouquet, arranging a make up artist, etc. She was very responsive, made sure that ever important step is in place (including the documentation part, we eventually did this in US mainland but I really appreciated Maria brought this up first and made sure this happens correctly.) And even for the Travel she gave us so much advice, althought it was out of her job description. She made us feel comfortable. Jose was our photographer and he took us around to take best wedding shot for the very late time as well. I really appreciated his effort to make the best pics.
I really thank Maria, Jose, and Caridad (make up artist). I would love to visit PR once again in the future for travel. I would definitely recommend Desintaion Wedding with Maria to my friend. -

Maria and I had most of our contact in the last month prior to the wedding. She helped me out a great deal in dealing with vendors (esp. since I don't speak Spanish) and the day of the wedding she was amazing. Maria was a real pleasure to work with. Throughout the entire year of our correspondence, she was very professional and easy to communicate with. Maria was awesome - the exact sort of cross between a mom and task master I needed on my wedding day. She was flexible and kind, but also aware of the timing and the schedule we were on - which I did not want any of my family and/or guests to have to be aware of. She made sure things were classy and beautiful, and she worked well with her husband Jose to make sure the photo's came out GREAT. She helped me negotiate extra's with the hotel and found me all the vendors that she then was responsible for making sure they showed up and had everything ready. Maria did exceptional on our dream wedding!! I’m from PR and live in the U.S. and as a do it yourself bride, knowing some vendors, the venue and being fluent in Spanish; at the beginning I was a little skeptical about having a wedding coordinator thinking I could do it all since it was at a nice hotel and I did not have it in our budget. Later on in planning I was convince by my now husband to hire a wedding coordinator for the day of so I can enjoy my day and not worry about details on the wedding day. The minute I met Maria, I knew it she was the right choice. She is a very pleasant lady that takes pride in her job. She is very organized, detailed oriented and knows her stuff and is well respected by other vendors. She managed to review everything I had “in my wedding planning book” and give feedback. She quickly captured our vision and helped in making it even better with little tips here and there. She was well aware of our limited budget. She provided vendor contacts and with little changes, we were able to have more for less in our reception and saved us hundreds of dollars. So virtually, we had a coordinator for free with all the money she saved us. I wish we had hired her earlier in the process and it would have saved us many planning headaches. I communicated with Maria mostly thru emails and text because it was my preference with my busy schedule, and she always responded very quickly to all my questions. As we got closer to the wedding day, we communicated via phone and she was always available. All her emails were very clear and detailed.
Maria walked us thru the entire wedding license process in Puerto Rico and it was all super quick and easy. She also did a great job on the wedding rehearsal; we had a big wedding party that was a little tricky since ½ knew only Spanish and the other ½ only spoke English. Maria did a phenomenal job on the wedding day. There was an “incident” out of her control, that our minister did not show up on time. She immediately had a plan-B and in no time, she had another minister ready for us to start the ceremony. She took action extremely quickly and very professional. So quick, that I had no idea of what was going on, I was kept a stress free bride the entire time. She even negotiated with the DJ, photographer and venue for the open bar to stay a little longer to make up for the loss time. Maria made it seem like nothing had happened and we had the most memorable day of our lives to be flawless. Having her there gave us the confident that everything will be fine and it was.
Maria – thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Because of you, I was able to enjoy every minute of my wedding day from beginning to end. I feel like I have gained a new friend. =0)

If you've decided to get married in San Juan, PR and do not already have connections for the various aspects of your wedding, do yourself a favor and contact Maria Lugo.
Maria is a delightfully bubbly lady who carries the aura of an aunt or old family friend that you haven't seen in several years. She's extremely responsive and will be able to provide guidance with whatever you may need.
We originally thought we could do this alone and began researching and contacting vendors on our own. We quickly learned the biggest road blocks to our success would be a) the language barrier and b) island culture. Although PR is a US territory, not everyone speaks English well. My husband speaks Spanish, but not well enough to conduct business. I am a Project Coordinator and have a very "DC" mentality when it comes to taking care of business. My sense of how things operate clashed with some of the folks we initially contacted, to the point we questioned whether having the wedding in PR was the right thing to do.
We finally decided we would need help after some mildly negative experiences when we flew down to meet with some potential vendors (punctuality and responsiveness being the most concerning). One of the vendors we met with actually recommended her during our meeting without prompting, and the fact that we'd seen her name so many times while researching combined with receiving a recommendation from a vendor helped us make the decision to take the chance on her. Had we not done so, this would have been a debaucle instead of the wonderful experience it turned out to be.
Maria is a resident of the island and knows the system inside and out. Puerto Rico has some very specific rules for destination weddings and she navigates those effortlessly. As others have commented, she streamlines the legal portion of the marriage by literally taking you through each step of the process. She picked us up from our hotel a couple of days prior to the wedding and, after confirming we had all of the required documentation with us, drove us to the lawyer's office and the government agency where you register to be married. This literally saved hours (if not days) of frustration.
Each of the vendors she recommended share the same qualities she possesses. They are all extremely professional and responsive, and their passion for their work is evident. Just as she made me feel confident that the wedding would go perfectly, so did they, and it's obvious their comfort and confidence comes from working with each other.
As for the wedding day, she handled all of the vendor logistics leading up to the wedding and coordinated all the details the day of (including any
outstanding payments to the vendors). This allowed us to simply enjoy what we came to Puerto Rico to do -- get married and celebrate!
Contracting with Maria was the best decision that we could have made for this wedding. All of the wonderful reviews you have read (or will read) about her are justified. She is both affordable and worth every penny, and the only thing that we would change would be to hire her at the very beginning instead of trying to start on our own. Otherwise, the headaches we ran into would never have happened in the first place! -

After weeks of trying to contact various wedding planners that I found listed on websites like the knot.com and weddingwire.com, I ran across Maria's name. She responded in a timely manner, which I found was a RARE and SPECIAL quality among planners on the island. I was very pleased with her communication via e-mail over the weeks that we were planning.
Another thing I really liked about Maria was her honesty. She works with a wide range of clientele and she told me immediately what/where/who I could afford on the island in my price range.
The actual week of the wedding: I could not have asked for a smoother trip. There was a day when Maria picked us up at the hotel and took us around the island to get paperwork done. Did it feel like work? NO!!! It felt like we were visiting a family member who was showing us around her home. Everything was so seamless and easy. She knows the right people to go to in order to get the legal stuff done, and she DOES it right! Everything is in order because I just received my wedding license from Vital Check.
My husband and I LOVED, LOVED both Maria and her husband, Jose Rincon, who is a well-known photographer on the island. They treated us like family. I really can't explain it, they are just good people. I have to say, Maria has an impeccable, timeless eye for what is truly beautiful, and this will be made evident on your wedding day. (For the foodies: she gives excellent restaurant recommendations - my favs: Dragonfly for a five-star night and Metropol for a relaxed day).

Maria was amazing! Our destination RE-Marriage to each other was her first:) After meeting us at the airport, she whisked us away to the lawyers, then off to the registration office. She showed us all around Old San Juan and the city we would be staying in, Dorado.
On the day of the beach ceremony, it was to be only my husband and myself. Maria and her husband stood in as our matron of honor and best man! We chose to have no guests. One hour before the ceremony, as my dress was being zipped up, the zipper broke! Talk about panic attack! I called Maria: "Do you have a sewing kit with you!?" I screamed.... "Yes" she said, "I will be right there. Do not worry." And within 10 minutes she was taking care of the zipper problem, cutting and stitching, and up went the zipper! She was perfect! There was not a thing to think or worry about. Just as we'd hoped..... Maria is the best! -

Maria was a huge help from start to finish for our wedding day. She was very caring, organized and on point with all the details. I highly recommend her and her husband Jose for photography. It made all the difference having her on my team. -

Maria Lugo really made our special day come true. Hands down the best planner you could ask for. She is very organized and thinks of everything. Our wedding was meant to be outdoors and nature didn't cooperate but Maria was able to handle our guests patiently and managed everyone so that in the end, nobody minded the change of plans and the waiting for the ceremony to begin. She was an absolute joy to work with and I would suggest her to any bride to be. She really went the extra mile and I really thank her for making my day possible. -

When I first decided to have my wedding in Puerto Rico (Jan 2012 at the Ritz-Carlton), I was very hesitant to hire a coordinator/planner. I wasn’t sure it was something I wanted to spend money on, as I tend to have a “do it myself” attitude. In hindsight, I can’t believe I ever considered not hiring Maria! It was the best decision we made and money very well spent! My wedding significantly exceeded my expectations (and I only had 3 months to plan and didn’t make a pre-wedding visit!), and I have her to thank for it. And I didn’t have to be stressed on my wedding day, I knew she would have everything under control. She made amazing recommendations for vendors, I used all of her suggestions and am so glad I did. She also was able to help facilitate conversations with vendors if I ever needed her to (one took a little long to respond once – I emailed Maria about it, she called them and I had a response an hour later!). She made the marriage license paperwork a breeze, she escorted us to all of the places we needed to go and had people ready and waiting for us. Maria’s personality is also wonderful – she is organized and gets things taken care of, but is not overly pushy or overwhelming and always listened carefully to what I wanted. She also gave us great advice about San Juan and our honeymoon in Vieques. We absolutely loved Maria! -
