Dawn Johnson made me look better than I ever thought I could look with very little guidance and no trial (I missed my appointment). Because I'd had some cancellations, I had to hire Makeup Couture and Dawn at the last minute. I went on trust, that she knew exactly what she was doing and she far surpassed my expectations, showed up on time, was very professional, and made me look stunning on my wedding day. I only told her I wanted to look glamorous, like Old Hollywood. That's very broad and nonspecific, but she got it. What I got was elegant makeup and contouring that emphasized my best features, but what my guests saw was the features not the makeup. My eyes looked large, dark and glossy, like photos of Hollywood actresses that I've envied. She put double false eyelashes on me, but I didn't feel them after a few minutes and they were so realistic nobody realized they were false. The foundation was flawless, youthful and dewy with beautiful highlighting and contouring. I'm plus sized but her makeup actually made my face look thinner. I showed up with clean, dry hair and she gave me an elegant, half-up do that complimented my bridal hat and lasted the entire ceremony. As previously stated, this all happened on the fly, with very little preparation. I wouldn't recommend going without a trial run for any other bride (it's too rattling to the nerves), but it's nice to know there's a professional out there who will step up when she has to. And the price was totally reasonable too! #completelypleased

Dawn saved the day! After needing to cancel my services with another vendor at the last minute, I found MakeupCouture on WeddingWire and contacted Dawn. Her hair and makeup services were absolutely perfect for our wedding day in Atlanta. She came to our home and did bridal and bridal party hair and makeup that everyone raved about, and was so nice throughout the entire process, including our trials. She was competitively priced, communicated with me throughout the entire process, and was always professional. I've never felt more beautiful than I did that day, and Dawn played a huge role in helping me feel like I was the prettiest bride ever! The compliments on her work were overwhelming, and I would definitely recommend her services to anyone that asked.

Dawn did my hair and makeup and the hair for my four bridesmaids. Throughout the entire process, she was super flexible ( I had to change my services) and helpful in answering all my questions. The morning of the wedding she had a calming and professional attitude. This made the hectic stressful morning just that much easier. My bridesmaids hair looked amazing and I felt and looked absolutely beautiful! I would recommend Dawn to anyone and everyone. She is amazing!

I was extremely apprehensive about doing this photo shoot because I can be painstakingly shy, but Dawn not only made me feel comfortable, but also made me look AMAZING in photos! She knew exactly what angles to shoot me at and gave me tons of tips. When I saw the final photos I was blown away, and let's just say my husband definitely approved!
Added bonus: Amanda did my makeup and I looked like a freaking model! Professional makeup is definitely a must for this.

Where do I even begin!! Dawn did the most amazing job during our photography session. She has this way of making you feel incredibly comfortable, but confident and sexy at the same time. I was enamored to see the finished product - the photos were so beautiful.

Dawn is awesome! She does an exquisite job at make-up, hair and boudoir photos! I recommend her and will use her again in the future for a different stage of life for her to capture on paper!

Dawn was absolutely wonderful to work with! I was really nervous about doing boudoir pictures for my fiance's wedding present because I am usually pretty shy when it comes to doing anything sexy. I originally hired Dawn to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day, but when I also heard that she took boudoir photos I knew that I was definitely going to do them because of how comfortable and relaxed she made me feel! She is non-judge mental and extremely laid back, which made me feel really calm while taking the photos. She gave me a lot of direction of what to do, since half the time I had no idea how to pose. The photos turned out absolutely amazing and my fiance (now husband) loved them! If you are thinking about doing photos I would highly recommend Dawn!

Love love Dawn and her associate! There were 9 of us and we finished on time! All the bride's maids love their hair and their make up. I think it really helped that we knew what we wanted, gave her pictures before the wedding week and she executed them perfectly! I also love the idea that she did my trial make up for my dinner rehearsal so i was made up even then! I also wanted her to do my hair in such a way I can have a different look for my reception. She showed my maid of honor what pins to remove and viola... second look for the reception! Also one of my mom's friend needed help with her hair and she was able to accomodate her as well. She was very pleasant and easy going. Im so happy I got her for my wedding :)

Dawn & her team did an amazing job on not only my hair & makeup but also my entire bridal party's! She helped me decide how I should do my hair with my type of hair when I was indecisive, and it turned out better than I could have imagined! Our makeup was flawless too! It lasted all day and night! I'm trying to think of excuses to use her again. I would recommend her to anyone!

Dawn is very gifted and professional. She arrived right on time for our very early 5:30 am session before my morning wedding. She is very good with airbrush makeup and made me look gorgeous! Also I highly recommend getting the hair extensions even if you have long hair. It will bulk it up and make it beautiful. I loved my extensions and hair on the big day ! Get a trial too so you can get ideas! I highly recommend her. Hire her today! She books fast!

Dawn at Makeup Couture was fantastic! I used her for hair and makeup at my wedding. There were 12 girls getting hair and make up done. Dawn and her assistant got to the suite right on time and got to work. They moved the girls through the hair and makeup process efficiently, and did excellent work! We ended up right on time and we all looked beautiful! I had a half-up do which required extensions, and Dawn did my hair beautifully!! She is so talented and fun to work with. It is really nice that she can come to wherever you're getting ready, and make everyone in the wedding party look fantastic. From my 6 yeear old flower girl to my grandmother, everyone looked amazing and enjoyed working with Dawn and her assistant. I would recommend Maekup Couture to any bride. I love makeup and wanted to be super glam, but some of the bridesmaids wanted a less dramatic look; Dawn did both perfectly. I can't thank her enough for making me look and feel so beautiful on my big day!!

All I can say is I wish Dawn could follow me around in life with that airbrush. She did such an amazing job on my hair and makeup that my friends, family, and I have used her several times for events since then. She makes you look flawless, nothing like the ladies at the makeup counters in the mall (I'm sorry if you like makeup counter ladies, but this is your wedding, not prom, just being honest). Her makeup style is simple, elegant, and just beautiful!

Dawn was fantastic! She was wonderful to work with and did an amazing job on my makeup as well as my bridesmaids and mom for my wedding. I found her after I had a terrible trial makeup session with someone else, and I could not have been happier with Dawn. I highly recommend her!!

I'm Korean and I was skeptical of a non-Asian doing my hair and makeup, but I loved her work after my trial! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding, and for two of my bridesmaids too. She does an amazing job with asian people's hair and makeup! She'll also come right to you with no travel fee.

Dawn and her assistant were very prompt and professional! My daughter showed Dawn pictures of how she wanted her hair for her wedding day and Dawn did exactly what she wanted. Even after fixing all our hair and makeup if a girl wanted a change or something added Dawn and her assistant did it with a smile! They were very concerned with keeping us all on time so that we could meet our schedule! I can't say enought about Dawn and her services. I would highly recommend her for any special event you might have!! Thanks again Dawn for making my daughters wedding day dreams come true!!!

Dawn made me look more beautiful than I ever have on my wedding night, and best of all, the make-up and hair she did for me remained flawless the entire night. She did the airbrush make-up application for my whole bridal party and mother as well, and when other people saw how amazing she was, they asked her to do their make-up or hair as well. People could not believe how talented she was. I think one of the best qualities about Dawn's services are her level of professionalism and flexibility. I am crazy when it comes to my hair, and she did exactly what I wanted. I got compliments on my hair and make-up all night long!

I was really happy with my decision to use Dawn from MakeupCouture on my wedding day for beauty services. Dawn arrived on time at my home to do hair for my 3 sisters and both hair and makeup for my mother and myself. Dawn was professional and well organized. She was able to create beautiful and modern up-do's for my 3 sisters who were all my maids of honor. She did a wonderful job on hair and makeup for my mom, who received compliments on her youth and beauty all night. Dawn also did a fabulous job with my hair and makeup and help me to put my wedding nerves at ease after seeing what a beautiful job she did. She also created my wedding hair piece (a flower) that was perfect to go with my dress and style for the event. I would recommend Dawn to any bride to assure a beautiful and fresh look for that special wedding day!!!!!

My bridesmaids are still thanking me for hosting such a fun pre wedding beauty event. Most of my crowd never wears makeup so the mere thought of airbrushing made us feel like we were preparing for the red carpet. Dawn arrived on time, with ample makeup and backup if need. Listened to the way each bridesmaid wanted their makeup and even airbrushed clevage on me (the bride) :) She went above and beyond the call of duty for all my bridesmaids and was such a joy to be around. I have no regrets with MakeupCouture!!!

I rarely ever wear makeup and honestly I do not know how to put on makeup and I'm 24 years old! I couldn't believe how natural Dawn made me look. She did a fabulous job and made me feel so beautiful! Also, Funda did a wonderful job on my hair. Both my makeup and hair lasted the whole night!

Beautiful makeup! Very knowledgeable and friendly! All of the girls were extremely happy with their makeup and looked great all night! We had to start at 10:30 that morning sense there were 7 bridesmaids, 2 moms, 2 grandmothers, and a friend. Everyone's makeup lasted until the end which was 11:00 that night! Great, great company! Will definitely refer to others and use again if I have another function that calls for it!

Dawn did the makeup for myself, most of my wedding party (4 girls), and my mom on the day of the wedding. I had chosen her as my makeup artist based on her good reviews, the fact that she did airbrushed makeup, and her pricing (which I compared to a few other similarly-rated makeup artists). Overall, I was not disappointed! I thought she did a fantastic job on all of our makeup - all of the ladies looked beautiful! She was able to complete makeup for the 6 of us by herself in a little over 3 hours. The looks also really seemed to hold up throughout the night, which was great since I tend to have oily skin. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a makeup artist.

Dawn and Funda were so great, trust me when I say my hair and make-up had never looked better. Great to work with, searched several vendors and although they were a bit more pricey than others I would use again in a heartbeat and will for any event I have! Their work is truly a work of art! Dawn Edwards does EXCELLENT work! They entire wedding party got rave reviews on their hair and makeup. She will do whatever you want for however long it takes to get your hair and makeup preferences just right. Plus, she's kind, pleasant, and flexible.

I booked Dawn Johnson eight months before my wedding date. We had specific terms in the contract for two hairstyles and makeup that would require her to stay during the ceremony to change my hairstyle for the reception.

I contacted her in March to book a trial in May. Setting the trial date with her was extremely difficult. Given my work schedule I needed a weekend trial and she mainly did only week day trials. Dawn was not flexible with my schedule, even though I was providing her two months notice. In April she set the trial date for May, and stated it was "tentative." That should have been clue #1 that she was not dependable.

A few days after setting our trial date, she booked a wedding for the same day. I understood that a wedding was more important than a trial, so we rescheduled for August. When attempting to reschedule, Dawn said I was not flexible because I told her that my work schedule would not allow me to do a trial during a weekday. We then reset the trial for four months later, in August. I think the one being inflexible was Dawn, considering I had requested a trial that was four months in advance.

Three weeks before my trial in August, Dawn emailed me to say that she was not available to do my trial and would have a senior artist from LA complete my trial. She said that if I was satisfied with the replacement, she would be available to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day.

I was devastated. I executed a contract with Dawn Johnson, not a senior artist from LA. I told Dawn that I would be disheartened if she was not able to complete my look for the trial and wedding day. I even called her to find out what circumstances arose that she was not available. She didn't provide a clear answer. I was left in a horrible predicament given that my trial was in three weeks and my wedding was a month and a half away. Dawn’s only consolation was “don’t worry, she’s from LA...”

Therefore, given the history I had Dawn (setting the trial dates and the predicament she placed me in), I asked her to revise the contract to include language that would guarantee her replacement would be present the day of the wedding and would fulfill the original contract to include the wait time that I had requested. Although it was written in the contract, Dawn did not recall that she was required to stay between the reception and the ceremony. To make sure I wouldn’t have to go through that again, I sent Dawn sample language that I wanted included in the new contract.

Dawn replied that her replacement was "overwhelmed" with my request and did not feel good about working together. She terminated the contract and returned my deposit. She did this one month before my wedding and left me in bad predicament.

Through my dealings with Dawn, she has exhibited very poor business ethics. I feel that she booked a bigger wedding party, after she and I committed to a contract, because my wedding party was only two people. I also found it irresponsible that she was not aware of my requests in that contract. Despite her assurances, I could care less if the senior artist was from LA. As long as she did a good job, the artist could have been from Wichita for all I cared. I felt my request to include language that would obligate the replacement to execute the original contract was neither extreme nor overwhelming. Dawn was obligated to my trial and wedding and failed to fulfill her duty.

I would be cautious about working with Dawn Johnson of Makeup Couture. She has poor business ethics and may cancel on you a month before your wedding!

I would like to say, Dawn is a talented makeup artist. With that being said, I would only recommend Dawn for makeup.

I was completely disappointed in my experience with Dawn. I had a great trial but her time management on my wedding day created a lot of unnecessary stress and took away from a good two hours of my photo time. I was told for the amount of people I had getting hair and makeup, there would be two people onsite to handle the workload. I emailed her to confirm this about two weeks out. When Dawn arrived, she was by herself. One positive, she did arrive on time and got straight to work. My bridesmaids provided photos of how they wanted their updos for the wedding. The first BM wanted a curly, slightly messy updo. Dawn gave her a classic bun. My BM was unhappy with the look and asked Dawn to fix it since it looked nothing like the photos she had shown her. Dawn did fix her hair but not after fighting her on what my friend was asking for. Another bridesmaid asked for a classic bun look (very Audrey Hepburn) and for some reason Dawn braided her hair into two pigtails and then tried to make it into a messy bun... it looked AWFUL. When my friend asked for her to fix her hair, Dawn argued with her on how her hair she be. She did fix it but my friend was never satisfied as it wasn't what she had asked for. Then my Mom went to get her hair done. My mom asked for it not to be too teased but that she wanted loose curls put into her hair. She gave my mom a mullet. It was awful and by this point, I still hadn't had my turn in the chair. My mom ended up having my friend that was getting ready with us, fix her hair after she had to pay Dawn for a style she didn't like. My mom was also suppose to have makeup done by Dawn and due to loss of time, my mom ended up having one of my friends do her makeup. So around two hours after I had told Dawn that I was scheduled for hair and makeup, I finally got into the makeup chair. Dawn proceed to complain to me about my friends and my mom not indicating what they really wanted with their hair. It was my wedding day and the last thing I wanted to hear was a complaint from someone I had hired to do make my friends feel beautiful.

I was pleased with how my makeup and hair turned out ALTHOUGH- I paid a lot of money for real hair extensions and she bought the wrong color for my hair (luckily she worked them into my hair pretty well and my lighting was on the darker side so you couldn't tell). Also, I asked for added length and volume with the extensions and all I had was extra volume in the back of my head. Not the end of the world but I would of liked to have had even fuller hair.

She also did an amazing job on makeup for my bridesmaids that used her for makeup (I think 4 BMs out of the 6 used her for it).

So all in all, I guess I would recommend her for makeup but not hair.

I do not recommend Dawn of Makeup Couture. I had a very disappointing experience.

Dawn cancelled our contract twice. The first time she cancelled, I added another hair/makeup service and she agreed to stay on board. The second time, she cancelled because I asked to try two hairstyles during the trial run (half down and an up-do). I believe she cancelled because I had a small wedding party and she didn't think it was worth her time. She cancelled less than two months before my wedding. It took her nearly 3 weeks to return my deposit after she cancelled on me--I had to remind her to return it.

I hired Dawn 10 months before my wedding. I told her I did not know exactly who in my wedding party would want to get hair/makeup done. I signed a contract for the minimum number of services she required--4 services. I thought we were clear that we may or may not add other services for bridesmaids. When I realized I would not get more services on top of the 4 services we agreed to, I got in touch with Dawn Johnson to clarify that I would not be adding more services. She said that she didn't want to do my wedding anymore and tried to cancel the contract. We talked about what would make it worth her while to stick with the contract. I agreed to add another service, and she agreed to recommit to my wedding.

When I scheduled a trial run, I asked to try a down do and an up-do during the two hour trial. She said that there was not enough time to try both- could I make more time? I said that I could make more time, but I did not have the budget to spend more on the trial than the listed price. Instead of trying to find a solution, she cancelled the contract again. This was less than two months before my wedding.

I found a salon near my venue, and they were great. Trying two hairstyles during a trial was no problem. I had a very unpleasant experience working with Dawn. I felt like she was eager to cancel her commitment from the minute she realized that I would have a small wedding.
