a fabulously talented artist & a lovely person

Lauren’s impeccable taste, artistic skill, and most of all, kindness made me feel beautiful and confident on my wedding day. When I first reached out to Lauren, it had been around a decade since I’d last had a full face of makeup, and I was nervous about looking and feeling like myself in my wedding pictures. Lauren was just incredible. She corresponded with me over email and on calls to strategize and develop the perfect look for me. And the look that Lauren created for me was perfect! She ensured that all of my natural features, even my freckles, were visible while accentuating the parts of my face that I like best. Lauren gave me luxurious lashes, open eyes, and glowing skin—and most importantly, she made me feel relaxed and pampered in the make-up chair. The effect of Lauren’s “no make-up” look was dramatic. My best guy friend and my husband’s best man both had knee-jerk shocked reactions—the former shouted that I looked amazing, and the latter almost fell over as he came around a corner and caught a glimpse of my face. Both qualified, later, that they had never seen me looking so glamorous, and they were stunned. While the men of the wedding were reacting to Lauren’s makeup, Lauren was upstairs taking the best care of my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is an icon in my social group: famous for her dramatic reactions and exacting yet capricious requirements of everyone in her life. Lauren stuck with her as she changed her mind, tweaked the makeup, and ultimately pointed at my face, saying “like that, like that,” treating her with patience and compassion. When Lauren was finished, my mother-in-law looked the best I’ve ever seen her, and my bridesmaids and flower girls were ethereal. I will certainly be calling on Lauren for all future life events when I have to be photographed—including my doctoral graduation!—and I cannot recommend her highly enough, as a fabulously talented artist and a lovely person.

Highly recommend

Lauren did an amazing job. Everyone in the bridal party was so happy the way there makeup came out even my mom who doesn’t wear makeup was really happy with how hers turned out. Highly recommend.

Best makeup, best person

We have been using Lauren for years, for our family events (bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings etc) and she never disappoints. She is incredibly skilled and listens to us in terms of what we want. She is not formulaic so we never look exactly the same. She is also a joy to be around and a truly lovely person. We all love her and have big smiles when she comes.

Lauren is second to none! Highly recommend!

Working with Lauren was an absolute pleasure, and I highly recommend her services. She could not have been more accommodating and easy to schedule with. She has an amazing sense of humor and makes you feel comfortable which is a tremendous plus. Her work is hands down the best I have ever experienced and uses high quality, hypoallergenic products. She expressed great knowledge in skin care and even gave me recommendations for my daily routines. She was right on time, in fact she was early and took her time. Her attention to detail and ability to exceed my expectations for the look I was going for was second to none. If you need a make up artist for ANY event, Lauren needs to be your girl! Lauren did an absolutely fantastic job on my wedding makeup. I tried a number of makeup artists, and she was hands down the best. She made me look like the most beautiful version of myself. My makeup stayed on throughout the day and night without the need for touch-ups. She was also a pleasure to chat with the morning of my big day as my bridesmaids and I were getting ready. I would definitely recommend Lauren to any brides in the area!

Lauren was incredible this past weekend. She did my bridal make-up and also my mom's make-up. We both looked absolutely stunning and received so many compliments. Not only is Lauren an incredible artist, she is also a great person to spend the afternoon with. She is funny and supportive! When I was dealing with some weather related issues about the venue, Lauren gave sound advice and helped me solve the problem. She's a good, calm person to have around on a pretty chaotic day! Lauren made sure to check how I photographed on the photographer's camera before sending me off and also made sure I had all the make-up components for touch-ups. She is professional, prepared, and all around amazing. You will not regret booking her!

Lauren is a beautiful person inside and out. She takes her work as a makeup artist very seriously, yet she maintains an excellent sense of humor whenever it is needed. She arrives on time, fully prepared, with more than enough products to satisfy the needs of the bride and bridal party. Lauren has an amazing sense of color and knows how to complement the coloring of her subject. She brings out your most beautiful features and uses the highest quality items. The trial session took longer than the wedding day makeup session itself, which made perfect sense to me, since she took her time and was thoughtful and careful in every way, as she experimented with what she and I liked best. She can talk about any subject if you like, or she can be quiet if you like, which is also very sweet when you just want to relax. She even brings lovely music if you so desire, enabling you to drift away and dream of your wedding as she applies your makeup. Her cosmetics and brushes were thoroughly clean and fresh. She truly knows how to keep the bride happy! She always kept me as her focus, and consistently made me feel like my needs were important above everyone else's, even her own. She is a smart, efficient, talented professional and I don't know what I would have done without her. There may be many makeup artists to choose from but Lauren is literally an all-around-beauty-expert. She applies gorgeous lashes, takes sample photos so you (and she) can see how well you will photograph, and basically does every single thing a makeup artist should do for a bride. She's a genuine person and she is no nonsense. The best part about Lauren was that she made the morning of my wedding so much fun for me. She somehow shielded me from all the chaos of the many people running around near me. She applied everything with a gentle hand. Her whole style put my mind at ease. I wanted my wedding to feel absolutely dreamy, not hectic, and Lauren helped make my dream come true!

I have known Lauren since I was a teenager and when it came to figuring out who was going to do my bridal party makeup there was no question who I was asking. Lauren knows exactly what will look best on different face shapes and coloring, and makes everyone look absolutely gorgeous for their special event. A few days before my wedding I decided I wanted a different look from what we had trialled (I decided against a spray tan and full coverage foundation last minute so my freckles would show) and Lauren didn't have any issue switching up my vision, and I am so happy I made that choice. My bridesmaids said that this was the best wedding makeup application they have ever had and were so happy that they all had the option of false lashes! Lauren also works seriously quickly. She did the makeup of my whole bridal party (me, 4 bridesmaids and 2 moms) without an assistant and we all made it where we needed to be on time! My wedding day was honestly the hottest day this past summer and my makeup lasted until I washed it off at 1 am! Lauren is seriously the best!

My daughter tried two other make-up artists that were more expensive and did not do the "quality" job that Lauren did. It was such a pleasure for the trial and then the day of she was wonderful - very professional but fun and the make-up lasted all day! Even crying did not flaw her job!

Lauren made my wedding day beyond perfect! She listens to concerns, she is honest, stays on schedule and she made all of our faces flawless!!!! Lauren is the best makeup artist I have ever experienced. No joke... I have been in a lot of weddings with disastrous makeup artists! I always end up redoing my makeup. Bridesmaids who did not even want their make up done ended up hiring Lauren because of how amazing everyone everyone else looked. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!!!

Lauren was fantastic to work with! I hired her to do make up for my wedding. She was extremely helpful leading up to the wedding day - answering all my questions and getting on the phone to chat through timeline, etc - and very flexible and calm on the day of. I was so lucky to find Lauren for my wedding! She was very responsive from the beginning and got back to me quickly. On the day of the wedding, more bridesmaids and moms decided to do makeup than expected, and she squeezed them in without breaking a sweat. Very professional, highly recommend!

Lauren did the makeup and eyelashes for all of my bridesmaids, as well as for myself as the bride. She was fun while still being professional and very time cognizant. She was the sole makeup artist and was able to get all of us done in a timely manner with everyone being happy with their look. Lauren was always responsive and flexible, even when I added two extra girls for makeup. She made sure each girl got what she wanted and felt comfortable with the finished look. She took her time on my trial to figure out exactly the look I wanted and didn't try to convince of a more dramatic look as some makeup artists tend to do. She even came to help with touch ups during pictures at the venue and that extra touch was so helpful to alleviate stress after getting to the venue. I was so happy with her professionalism and easy going attitude I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing makeup artist for their special day.

Lauren is truly amazing. Not only is she a master of her craft, but she is also professional, kind, and honest. I knew going into my trial Lauren would preform miracles because I have seen her work. However, I was hesitant because I can be a minimalist when it comes to makeup. I trusted her and she helped me become comfortable in my own skin with makeup! I got the natural look I wanted and she even encouraged me to try new things that I would have never thought I would like. The end result on my wedding day was perfect. I felt amazing and I had so many compliments that even one of my own bridesmaids ended up using Lauren as well on her wedding day. My friend went for a more dramatic look, which shows Lauren's ability to be versatile and achieve whatever the client of the day wants. I would HIGHLY recommend her to everyone.

If your looking for the ultimate wedding makeup experience then you need to book Lauren ... She is absolutely amazing !! Makeup especially wedding makeup can be tricky you don't want to over do the look it should be natural and flawless. I can remember so many times getting my makeup done and having to come home and wipe myself down. Lauren however knows exactly what colors to use to accentuate your features in a way that creates a look you will want to remember. Lauren provided makeup services to myself my maid of honor my mother and my grandmother and each and every one of them looked absolutely amazing. She is probably the most talented makeup artist I have ever worked with, not to mention she's punctual, flexible and if you show her a look she will create that look but make it ten times better. Lauren Tortorella Gilch was very professional in her conduct. She arrived early, was super organized, gave me options and advice prior to applying the makeup. I truly appreciate her style and explanation of options as I wanted to look as young and as natural as possible... especially since I am in my 60th year and I was the mother of the groom! She achieved this! If only I could have her apply my makeup daily, I'd be a very happy woman! I have used her several times in the past and have given her name out to many friends and others that I know that have had weddings or other formal events to attend. Yes, Lauren is a pro and I will never, ever lose her number! She is superb at her craft! She stayed for the entire wedding and did the touch up makeup as needed for the entire wedding party! Also, she's knowledgable, outgoing and very fun to be with! I highly recommend her without any hesitation!!!

Simply the best!! Lauren is a true artist! she did makeup on myself (the bride), my mom, and my mother in law and I can't tell you how amazingly beautiful we all looked! i saw a sneak peak of one of my photos from the big day and was blown away! not only did she come back to touch us up right before the ceremony but she also was there helping me fix my dress to make sure it was perfect before I walked out. She is truly talented and does amazing work. I'm so happy that she was part of my perfect day and that she made me look stunning! the compliments never ended and i wanted to make sure I looked perfect as makeup was something very important to me! she surely outdid herself!! she is personable, funny, and so incredibly artistic and knows what will make you look amazing. Lauren did an incredible job for both my engagement photos and wedding. My skin looked flawless (no sun spots visable) yet some how perfectly natural and not "overly done". My make-up lasted perfectly through the night well past the 2am after-party that included dancing and sweating. I have never looked better in my life. She sculpted my face and it looked like I had instantly dropped 2lbs. All of my bridesmaids and my mother looked like the best versions of themselves. I HIGHLY recommend Lauren and will without a doubt hire her for any future events I need make-up for.

Lauren did an awesome job with my makeup on my wedding day. She understood what I was looking for and if I wasn't happy with something she fixed it.
Both Lauren and her assistant did a great job with my mom, mother-in-law, aunt, grandma and bridal party. They made sure to listen to everyone and follow the look they were comfortable with. I would defiantly go back to her for a special occasion.

Lauren was super accommodating and is hilarious! She made all of my ladies & my mom comfortable and wedding-gorgeous. She showed up at the venue & had set up her work area before any of us had even returned from the hair salon. I was impressed when I saw pictures of her previous work and heard great word-of-mouth when it came to her artistry skills. I was pleased to discover all of the reviews about her were true. Lauren was amazing! She had done my friend's make up for her wedding and did an awesome job. I set up a trial with her this past weekend. She was very responsive to emails and professional.

She asked me to show her some looks I was interested in. I showed her pictures of more natural looking make up. She did exactly what I wanted. It was perfect! She also is super easy to talk to and flexible. I am looking forward to Lauren doing my make up on my wedding day. I highly recommend her!

Lauren is an amazing artist. I used her for my sisters wedding and fell in love with how she did my makeup. I then used he for my big day without even doing a makeup trial because I trusted her and knew she would do an amazing job. I had compliments all night on my makeup and how beautiful it looked. Lauren was the makeup artist for me (mother of the bride), my daughter, and the women in the wedding party. The bride looked absolutely radiant and everyone looked beautiful. Lauren did a tremendous job on my bridal makeup, and on three of my bridesmaids. She has a true talent and gift, and she made us all look our absolute best - fresh and dewy-looking, with all the right things accentuated. I wish I could look like that every day! Another great thing about Lauren is that she is fun to be with and talk to, funny, and has a calming presence. We all liked hanging out with her on the wedding morning, and she helped me feel relaxed, which I especially appreciated since a rainstorm was brewing that morning!

Lauren was wonderful everyone compliment my make-up and how well it was done. Many people saw pictures of me and said I looked like a model. However that isn't why I would recommend Lauren. My reasoning is that for the first time in my entire life the day of my trial as well as my wedding she made me feel beautiful, and that was what sold me. Lauren is an amazing make-up artist, who is consistent, professional and full of energy and creativity. She has been the "go-to" make-up artist amongst my family members since my sister's wedding in June of 2005 and has continued to make us all gorgeous for many other weddings dating in Nov 2007, May 2009, July 2010, and on my wedding day in October 2011. In addition, right before my wedding I developed an allergy to an ingredient that is found in most cosmetic products. Lauren worked with me to ensure I wasn't exposed to it on my wedding day. She helped me find products that were of equal quality to her usual supply and were safe for me to use. She was ever so patient through the whole process. On the day of my wedding she arrived promptly and made 11 women feel like models. She instinctively new what shades looked best on everyone, spoke to each women to decipher who was willing to go total glam and who wanted to remain more natural, but nonetheless, look top notch. My mother/sister-in-law never even wear make-up and were both very nervous about having it done professionally...they felt amazing when she was done with them.

While everyone knows that a wedding is the most important day of your life it's also the hardest to get through. So many stress related situations suchas hair ,makeup etc. I must say my experience with Lauren was phenomenal! I hae gotten my make-up done in many well known salons and never had such a great experience.
I never got so many compliments on my ,make-up as well as my bridal party. She was always available and stopped at nothing to please us. The pics came out amaizing and I am so thankful. I highly reccomend her, she is an amaizing artist and made us non stop laugh! Thank you Lauren you are awesome!

Lauren was my saving grace on my wedding day! Lauren is very energetic and highly competent in everything she does. I had to plan my wedding in less than a week but she was available and willing as soon as I contacted her. Without having a trial run before the big day she was able to make the perfect decisions about what was best for my skin tones and bone structure. She also had to deal with my paranoia about having too much (I never wear makeup) She was able to calm my fears and made me look beautiful and confident about myself. She listened well to my thoughts and interpreted them accordingly. Lauren was also a lot of fun to have around that day while we got ready. It was as if she was a part of the group. Not only did I feel like the most beautiful bride because of Lauren's makeup, but I truly loved her company on my wedding day. My mom and sister also had their makeup done, and at 1am, after the party was over, we all commented on how our makeup all looked fresh! Lauren was amazing. She came to my house exactly on time and did my, my mother's and my sister's makeup. We all looked beautiful. I still get compliments on how beautiful I looked.
Lauren stayed with me during the whole length of the ceremony and reception and fixed my makeup and hair when necessary.

Lauren was wonderful! She did the make-up for my June 28th wedding in Larchmont, NY. There were 11 of us getting make-up done and she made everyone look gorgeous (and most importantly, feel gorgeous). I am so happy that I found her! I just wanted to share my recent make-up experience that I had with Lauren. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and honest! I showed her some pictures of what I had in mind and then she customized it to what would look best for me. She suggested which colors would go best based on my complexion and eye color and i went along with her suggestion and looked beautiful after everything was done! I got so many compliments on my make-up that night and owed it all to her! She did a wonderful job and made my eyes really pop out to the point where I didn't wanna wash my make-up off that night because of how great it looked!
