Boothbay Wedding Photos

(Father of bride) We hosted our daughter's wedding at Spruce Point Inn (SPI), Boothbay, ME, in late August 2019, and this wedding photographer and his assistant, Heather, were great. Like the rest of us, they were challenged by the fact that the event was really a dual-ceremony "fusion" wedding, including both multiple full-dress Sikh/Punjabi ceremonies in the morning/mid-day (starting with a water taxi entrance by the groom and his attendants), with a traditional "white dress" wedding and reception that lat-afternoon/evening. The two of them worked so hard, and used the venue (a spectacular beach-side resort on the mid-coast of Maine) in very imaginative ways that displayed the beauty of the place and uniqueness of the "fused" event. We recently received initial prints of their work product, which is why this review is a couple of months post-wedding, and we are thrilled by what we have seen so far. The shots were creatively-lit and angled (to the point of Mike's climbing a flag-pole!), and captured all the wonderful moments of the day, along with pics of all of our families and friends in attendance. We are anxiously awaiting the remainder of the photos, and could not be more pleased.

Best day ever!!

Michael was the best choice we made for our wedding day! Not only was he very professional, easy to get in contact with, but our guests also loved him! He blended right in and seamlessly took the most amazing pictures. It poured rain while we got our wedding photos done outside, and they managed to come out so beautifully that we've actually been told to enter our photos in a magazine competition. And Michael didn't mind getting soaked at all! He powered through it just so we could get the best shot possible. I can't say enough about him and his work. You won't be disappointed with Michael!

The best wedding photographer!

Michael was such a wonderful wedding photographer. Fom our first phone call it was clear he was the perfect choice for us. He traveled all the way to Philadelphia for our July wedding, scouted the best locations for our pictures, and was a warm and calming presence throughout the day. Michael is super accommodating to what you want for your wedding day and most importantly, our photos turned out so wonderfully. We can't recommend Michael enough for your wedding - you'll be in great hands!

I cannot speak highly enough about the interactions I had with Michael during the entire wedding process. From Day 1, Michael went out of his way to ensure that our special day was exactly that - OUR special day! He was extremely patient with us, taking the time to ask relevant questions while providing us with meaningful advice on what things could look like. What I appreciated most was how Michael was able to balance our vision/ “wish list” with his own style. The end result was a perfect representation of what my Bride and I are all about! On a personal note: Michael is a really really nice guy, professional, highly experienced, and accessible! He was able to make us feel like we were the only clients he had; everything was catered to us. Thank you Michael, I would recommend you’re services to everyone!

Michael was a fantastic photographer to work with from start to finish. We are thrilled with the beautiful photos from our wedding! Michael was incredibly responsive to all of our questions through the planning process, and his cheerful and friendly attitude put us completely at ease on the day of our wedding. Michael also went above and beyond, researching some of the detailed parts of our ceremony and location beforehand to ensure that the best photos were captured. My husband and I agreed photos are one item you cherish most after your big day so we really wanted great images and hiring Michael was one of the easiest and best decisions we made for our wedding. Michael kept everyone on time, looking beautiful and most importantly he kept me, the bride, calm and able to enjoy the whole day/night without having to keep track of anything besides enjoying the moment. Michael was very professional and communicated clearly and thoroughly before and during the wedding. He was quick to answer any questions and we loved that he had specific photographic ideas for our unique venue. After the wedding, he delivered preview photos to us within days and all our guests kept telling us how amazing and professional our photographer was. Michael is a special kind of photographer. His combination of easy going charm and consummate professionalism will make him a trusted asset on your special day. Words can't describe how great Michael was. Truly, one of the nicest people you will meet and an absolute pleasure to work with. Most importantly, Michael and his 2nd photographer took amazing photos! We've received so many compliments on them and my wife looks at them with joy daily.

We didn't have a day of planner or coordinator, but Michael kept us on time and helped keep everything moving along. We were able to take all of the pictures we wanted including incredible sunset photos that will take up spaces in the walls of our home for our lifetime.

We've been married 5 months now and as we've looked back on the expenses of our wedding the one thing we both agree on was that Michael was worth every penny. If you have the opportunity to work with Michael/Maine Coast Wedding Photography you will be extremely happy you did.

We truly cannot say enough positive things about Michael Wilson! As a couple living in NJ and getting married in Maine, it was nerve wracking to pick a photographer without the benefit of word of mouth but luckily we hit the jackpot with Michael. He put us at ease by spending hours FaceTiming in the months prior to the wedding to discuss ideas we had and He was game for anything. Our wedding was 6 months ago and guests are STILL talking about how amazing he was. He felt like a guest at our wedding blending right in while going above and beyond to get the perfect shot (including wading through a moving stream). Even after the wedding he was so responsive with questions we had and with quickly putting together our beautiful album. We try to get to Maine several times a year and will not think twice about hiring Michael again for future photo shoots. He is truly a rock star!

Michael was laid back and listened to what we wanted in terms of style and timing. He was easy to work with and got our pictures back really fast. He also made a photo book for us, which came out great. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer.

Professional, without being stuffy. At ease and hilarious, without being inappropriate. Dynamic, without being contrived. We couldn't have imagined a better person for our wedding. He managed to capture personal, sweet moments without being awkward and intrusive. His compositions and sense of fun made the event look like a movie, except there were no disasters, and in fact, we had many, many people compliment us on both his easy demeanor and the quality of his work. Michael was prompt with communication, punctual, organized and delivered images in a minimum amount of time. We also appreciated his honesty about what might be cheesy, plus he was practical and realistic about what was doable. He was easy to work with and best of all, he's a "Yes Man", a guy who's willing to brainstorm about every idea with positivity, making this important event personal and special. If you're getting married on Mars, it's worth flying him out for it! Hands down, the best photographer around!!

I first met Michael at my sister's wedding. He was from Maine but was shooting the wedding in New Orleans. We were so intrigued by his kind nature and enjoyed speaking with him. I appreciated how enthusiastic he was about the occasion and was very impressed with how quickly he sifted through the countless family and wedding party pictures. I also noticed that he did not miss a beat and was always a part of the action getting priceless beautiful and candid shots. I was further impressed when we received the wedding photos. The images were beautiful and I especially appreciated the candid shots he managed to capture during the dancing portion of the evening. When my husband proposed to me we knew that we wanted Michael to shoot our wedding. Michael traveled from Maine to Southeast Louisiana and captured the best day of our lives and for that we are forever grateful.

Michael was such an amazing photographer, if I could give him ten stars I would. He had many challenges to overcome on our wedding day such as a hail storm, and two camera shy subjects. Michael is the most incredible photographer I have ever met and we were beyond blown away by his work. Michael is beyond kind and a pleasure to work with, incredibly friendly and handled so much on the day of our wedding phenomenally without stress at all and everyone remarked at how great he was in taking their pictures. In terms of his work its unmatched by any photographer I have ever seen do a wedding. He took incredible photos of our engagement and our wedding that were beyond the quality of any I have seen with any other wedding. We have not stopped getting compliments on our photos at how much of the day and evening's joy was captured perfectly with his shots. I cannot recommend Michael enough.

Michael Wilson was the most perfect photographer for our wedding. Honestly, I cannot say enough amazing things about him. Not only is he the warmest and most sincerely kind person I've met, but he genuinely loves what he does and it translates beautifully into his photos.

Photography was the most important aspect I wanted for our wedding, and I spent hours researching photographers for the task. Michael was the perfect fit. He has this unique blend of journalistic and candid artistic vision, and was exactly what we were looking for (and not to mention LGBT friendly, which was something I was looking for, too). Not only that, but he was so accommodating and was always easy to reach if we had questions. We easily negotiated a price and our own special package that fit our needs (part of that package was hiring a second photographer friend of his for a shorter amount of time, to capture more of the reception and dancing fun!).

And then, on the day of our wedding, Michael was a ninja—I mean that in the best way possible. I don't know how he captured all the pictures he did, and every single one, even the outtakes, are gorgeous. Everyone at the wedding enjoyed his presence, as he has this wonderful, joyful aura that just makes you smile.

I would highly, highly recommend Michael Wilson to anyone and everyone for their wedding. Our photos are breathtaking and I haven't stopped looking at them since we received them.

Michel made our day complete. From the moment we met him , we had a great feeling thdt he was our man. He is punctual , professional , courteous and professional. He has a wonderful sense of humor and timing. We weren't looking for stuffy posed pictures- we wanted to capture the love and joy and real emotion that was our wedding day. He couldn't have done a nicer job. Michel is one of those people who has a gift and is humble about it. The images he captured contain all the love and joy that our wedding at was and we couldn't be happier with his work. He is a diamond in the rough and to this day we still keep in touch with him. He is just a fantastic human being and talented artist.

When we got back from our honeymoon and started talking to our friends and family about our wedding, we weren't really expecting the reactions we got. The second thing out of people's mouths (after telling us they had a great time and such) was "I loved the photographer! He was so awesome!" Everybody raved about his boundless energy, positive attitude, and friendly demeanor. In particular, people who don't usually like being photographed commented that he put them at ease. And we can't blame them -- Michael is great and really knows how to shoot a wedding right.

When the group photos were happening, he happily took command, and when the focus was on us, he seemed to disappear -- exactly how it's supposed to work. We can't say enough about how awesome it was to have Michael do our wedding; we are so grateful to him for making everything better. He also did our engagement shoot as part of the package. Both sets of photos turned out so, so well. Truly a gentleman and an artist. Book him right now! Quick, before his schedule is full!

Michael was fantastic beginning to end. So many of the other photographers we met with were pushy, difficult or otherwise off-putting. From the first meeting with Michael we felt at ease and completely comfortable with him. His professionalism and helpfulness on our wedding day made the experience that much more enjoyable. It was easy to forget there was even a camera there, we never felt awkward or posed. He was a delight to work with throughout the whole process and our photographs came out great, they were exactly what we were looking for.

As a person, Michael is warm and accommodating, easy-going and friendly. As a professional, he was above-and-beyond responsible and consistent - his price was fair and flexible, he came and checked out the venues with us well in advance of the wedding, and even walked the procession route again himself the day before. We worked out all the group and portrait shots ahead of time, which allowed us to not have to think about any of it in the chaos of the day. He's incredibly present and aware of how helpful it can be for him to take responsibility for capturing the day, instead of leaving it to the client.
Artistically, we couldn't have hoped for a better photographer - the shots are natural and candid (even when posed), there are literally dozens of postcard-worthy photos, and he perfectly captured the magic we felt all day. The photos represent the people, the venues, and the emotions of the day, exactly as we remember them.
I highly recommend Michael, without reservation.

Michael Wilson is a dream. You can't imagine having a better photographer, or person, to photograph you on your wedding day. His photographs are absolutely beautiful and stunning. He captures the moments you will want to remember in a classic and timeless way. He is a joy to work with. Wedding planning can be quite stressful (at least for me)! Every time I spoke to Michael he made me feel so relaxed and excited about my wedding day. He took time to learn about and explore the city and venue where we were married, to scout locations for perfect photos, and to learn about what we wanted and what was important to us. And during the wedding weekend, his vibe was incredibly professional, polished, positive and relaxed. Just what you will need/want. All our guests raved about him and about the photos. MW Photography gets only the highest marks from us. Michael truly earned a top rating in every category. From our first meeting through the engagement photos, the wedding and on through the delivery of a beautiful photo album, Michael far-exceeded our expectations at every milestone. He always took as much time as we needed to make sure he understood our wants and needs. His demeanor is very comforting and he was attentive to both of us, throwing in humor when needed and reassurance when we were a little apprehensive.

We had an unconventional indoor/outdoor barn wedding up in Maine that had several difficult lighting situations. Michael handled all of them with high professionalism and fine artistry—a balance that is very rare. Nature threw in an hour-long summer downpour—during family photos—that didn't throw Michael one bit. He took charge and was as efficient as I've ever seen a photographer. He covered the timeline of the wedding from the bride's pre-wedding preparations through the entire day and also got some spectacular night shots. We weren't surprised at all to have several wedding guests tell us how awesome the photographer was and how hard he was working. They will surely come calling for his info when they need a great photographer.

Michael took thousands of photos and as a graphic designer and photoshop professional I can say that he is as outstanding a post production artist as he is a photographer. He gave us all the photos on a beautiful wooden thumb-drive—organized by print-ready and web-ready and even outtakes—from which I could see the huge amount of time and effort he put in.

Michael photographed my wedding ceremony and reception, and I couldn't have been happier! Before the event, he visited the venue, picked out great photo spots, and mapped out a route for the wedding party. He was flexible and professional, he put the guests and wedding party at ease, and he made the whole day feel like a breeze. We loved working with Mike and cannot recommend him highly enough!! He was our photographer for both our engagement shoot and our wedding. He made us feel completely comfortable and was even able to bring out our previously unknown photogenic side. Mike was a photography ninja during the ceremony! He was completely unobtrusive and discreet. He was able to capture some amazing candid photographs!

I am extremely glad we choose to hire Michael Wilson as our wedding photographer. I am shy and less than photogenic, Michael was really considerate of it that when we took engagement photographs around Brooklyn. After our engagement photo's it was clear he was absolutely the right photographer for us. He is open creatively and takes the time to delve into what best reflects you as a couple, and you as an individual. He crafted these beautiful sequences of photographs right before our ceremony as we encountered various local sights. My family loved the way he interacted with them, pulling these moments organically out of the evening, instead of forcing loads of overly choreographed shots. We had a wedding that went from a sunny outdoor ceremony, to a dimly lit historic building, and back out to a patio under the stars for dancing. I was so pleased when I saw the quality of image we got for every one of these drastically different moments of our wedding. I can truly say Michael surpassed all of our already high expectations for the photographs of our important day.

I highly recommend Michael Wilson as a photographer. He was extremely professional but also had a laid-back attitude that made him easy to talk to throughout our wedding process. He had creative ideas that I never would have thought of, but also managed to take all of the shots we'd hoped for. We didn't have a videographer and I feel that Michael was able to show us everything we'll ever need to remember from our wedding. He captured moments that I didn't even know were happening!

Mike is a truly talented photographer! I enthusiastically and HIGHLY recommend him! ALL of the photos he took are beautiful! He is really able to capture our personality in all the photos, both candid and posed. In the months/weeks leading up to the wedding he had great suggestions for how to best organize and utilize time to take photos so that we can enjoy our time together and with our families. He was truly everywhere snapping amazing pictures from cool angles! He is working at full speed the entire time but appears so casual and professional the entire time. He somehow managed to get beautiful pictures of the wedding location and the small decoration details that we spent so much time planning while also getting so many candid shots of everyone at the wedding during the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He is a friendly, fun and personable guy, which helps when taking many posed pictures one after the other! He did a lot of organization and prep work before the wedding using google satellite images to help create a flow for the photos. He looked up the sunset time and offered suggestions to take advantage of the various lighting at the different times of day. The day before the wedding he scouted out the location (it was a destination wedding in a botanic garden) to plan out some great spots for pictures. With his professionalism, planning and organization we did not spend any time worrying about or planning the photography for our wedding. After the wedding he was able to edit a small sample of images as a preview and shortly after he had another sample available on his website. Shortly after he sent us an external drive with all of the wedding images in various formats, with an established amount edited by him, in addition to all of the other photos from the wedding! I highly recommend Mike Wilson for all of your photography needs.

I was lucky to be Michael's first wedding client! He did our engagement photos along with our wedding pictures! He takes beautiful pictures and is a pleasure to work with. My photos came out amazing and I loved that he was able to capture candid moments. I've had no problems with Michael and would recommend him to anyone looking for a great photographer!

My wife and I hired Michael Wilson for our engagement and wedding photos. They both came back looking amazing. He really has an eye for capturing not just the scene but the emotions on everyone's faces. There were not just the pictures we posed for but also candid pictures that really captured our and our families joy at the wedding. As a nice bonus we even got some really great pictures of each of us getting ready for the wedding from my wife's makeup being done to me at the venue making sure I had the rings. This was a nice touch because my wife and I got to see what the other person went through when we were not together. He is very professional and came fully prepared for both events. For the engagement pictures he picked an amazing spot that went way beyond the usual locations for photos. For the wedding pictures he went to the venue on his own before the event and knew exactly where would be the best place to set up and capture everything. The sets that he gives back are also well thought out. We got one set of higher resolution pictures for print, another set to post on Facebook and even a set to email to friends and family that could not attend the event. I would use him again in a heartbeat for any other major life milestone.

Michael did an amazing job photographing our wedding reception (we were married out of state and just had a reception with friends and family later on). He was easy to get in touch with, and responded quickly. We both loved that he got such great candid photos of everyone having a great time. He was very flexible and willing to get all of the photos we wanted to get, plus so many others that he set up or moments that he caught. I was impressed how quickly we received the finished photos! Michael was so nice, so professional, and gave us such great quality photos of our special night. I hope we are able to work with him again in the future! I tell everyone I know about him!

We could not have been happier with choosing Michael as our wedding photographer, and neither could our guests! After the wedding, when complimenting us on our food and decorations and other things, they also commented on how friendly and professional our photographer was! Months before the wedding he was willing to discuss with us multiple times our photo needs. We took our first look, couple, and group photos before the ceremony (highly recommend getting it out of the way), and he was amazing throughout. Everyone felt very comfortable in front of his camera, and nothing looked cheesy. I am pretty critical of other people's wedding photos, and our wedding was not traditional, so I wanted our photos to look natural and relaxed. Michael achieved that remarkably. I was very pleased with every decision he made (our poses, the settings he photographed us in, lighting) and the group photos went by smoothly without missing anyone. I received the final photos quickly and they were absolutely beautiful.

Michael was really awesome! He showed up on time, had everything organized and worked non-stop to take the best pictures at our wedding. He never got in the way and we never had to worry about a single thing with regards to photography. The pictures turned out great and he was everything that we had wanted from a photographer. If I could describe MW Wedding Photography with one word it would be fabulous! Every detail was covered including the site visit a week prior to get the best angles for the pictures.
