From the moment we began our journey with the Lumber Exchange, every staff member was flexible, friendly, helpful, and kind. Everyone we worked with truly wanted our day to be special. The food is incredible, and the chefs were so attentive to dietary needs—during our tasting they sat down with us, and the head chef even came out during the reception to make sure everything was perfect.

The entire team puts their best foot forward. The value of the service, food, beverages, and overall experience is absolutely worth the cost, and compared to other venues, it’s not overpriced in my opinion. The Lumber Exchange offers several beautiful event spaces and is conveniently connected to a hotel, which made everything so easy for us and our guests.

Our day was magical, and the Lumber Exchange team was truly wonderful. We look forward to hosting another event there someday and will always hold our wedding day close to our hearts!

We planned our daughter and son-in-law's wedding from 400 miles away. Will was a pleasure to work with and accommodated our out of town schedule. The day of the wedding was flawless.

Hannah Fox and the Lumber Exchange staff were all amazing to work with! They did an excellent job ensuring our big day was a dream come true. We loved going to the tasting in the actual space that we were going to get married in and trying the food ahead of time. Hannah would regularly keep us on track and helped us plan things out over time leading up to the wedding day so we had ample time to think about what we wanted and helped ease the stress of planning. The venue staff in charge, especially Shannon, at our wedding rehearsal and wedding day was wonderful! They were there and ready to tend to all our needs and were enjoyable to work with. The venue is breathtaking and the food is out of this world. We would highly recommend the Lumber Exchange Event Center for your wedding day!

We just got married at the Lumber Exchange in September and had the best experience! Right from the start, Will (account executive) helped us work within our budget, he was right there to answer every little question we had along the way, and made sure our day was everything we wanted it to be. The Fountain Room is a gorgeous space and they have several beautiful spots throughout the venue for great pictures. Destiny (day of concierge) was lovely and so helpful. All of the staff (bartender, servers, security, etc.) were amazing and our taco bar was delicious! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great wedding experience!

The Lumber Exchange Event Center was an incredible venue for our wedding. From the very first interaction, the staff were attentive, informative and friendly, guiding us through every detail. The venue itself is well-maintained, with stunning brick walls and a clean, elegant feel. They helped us create the perfect floor plan to accommodate our unique setup, and provided excellent recommendations for food and beverage selections. From planning to day-of execution, the Lumber Exchange team made everything so easy and were so kind throughout. We still have guests raving about the beautiful venue, delicious food, and how perfectly our day went. We highly recommend the Lumber Exchange Event Center for any couple looking for a stunning, stress-free wedding experience.

Wow! What an incredible venue and an amazing staff. Our wedding was absolutely perfect from start to finish! We worked with Hannah and she was so incredible every step of the way, answering all of our many MANY questions and helping us bring our wedding vision to life! The whole process for menu selection was also really well done and fun, and when there was a hiccup with the rehearsal venue because the Pourhouse unfortunately closed, they helped us pivot and it turned out amazing. Also huge shoutouts to Michael, one of the bartenders for our event- he was stellar!!

I happened to stumble upon this beautiful venue, and I immediately knew it was the one for our wedding day! When my husband and I got engaged, we were living in San Antonio at the time, so we had to do a lot of long distance planning. Thankfully, Will was amazing and was able to help us in any way we needed! This venue is so much more beautiful in person, and I don’t believe the photos do it justice!! The staff is outstanding, the rooms are gorgeous, and our concierge Destiny went above and beyond all wedding day morning. We cannot suggest this venue enough.

The Lumber Exchange was a dream venue to work with. They were not only professional but so accommodating to every need we were looking for to make our day perfect. They are a well oiled machine and assure that everything is smoothed out before your event.

The Lumber Exchange Venue was perfect for our February wedding! The staff was very helpful and kind! The space is absolutely beautiful with its rich historical architecture! Hannah, our event manager, was very responsive and super fun to talk to and plan our wedding with! The Exchange makes your wedding day easy. The food was delicious and our guests were talking about the beauty of the building and kindness of the staff long after our wedding day! Highly recommend!

We were lucky enough to work with the Lumber Exchange for our wedding. They were reasonably priced and we liked that we did not need to get extra vendors for rentals because tables, linens, and food/drinks were all at the venue. It made planning very easy! Hannah helped leading up to the day and she was so incredible and responsive to work with. The day of the event and the night before, we worked with Tyler and he was amazing. The bar staff was so friendly and fun on the night of our wedding-we could not have asked for a better experience. We got so many compliments on the venue aesthetic. We were close enough to travel towards St. Anthony Main to get photos, but with how iconic and beautiful the venue is, you would not need to. With it being a November wedding, we were able to highlight the space with candles and the ambiance was all that I could ask for and more. Overall, such a great experience. The other plus is that we had two hotels within walking distance so we did not need to pay for transportation to and from a venue! Cannot speak highly enough about the Lumber Exchange.

From the moment we stepped into the building on our first tour, we knew this was the place we were going to get married, and I am so glad we did! Lumber Exchange was a fantastic venue! We got married in the Fountain Room on 10/7/23 and we are still getting compliments on how gorgeous it was from friends and family. From our very first online inquiry until the very end, we worked with Hannah P. and she was the best! She answered every question we had no matter how big or small, and was so accommodating to every request - not to mention she was so easy to connect with over email or phone. The planning emails they send out make the planning process feel so much less daunting and even kind of fun - I always looked forward to what my next planning tasks would be. The day of staff on the wedding day were fabulous as well, and made the day feel so effortless. My only one small negative, which is not even the venues fault, was that on the night of the rehearsal, the music from the Pourhouse bar inside the venue was very loud as we were trying to do mingle, do toasts, etc. This was something I did not anticipate, however the staff at LX were able to quickly get us a microphone no questions asked. Again, more of something we just didn't anticipate vs the venues fault. We would recommend them over and over - it was truly the best day! ◡̈

The Lumber Exchange was the absolute best!!! The attention to detail was exceptional. They went over and above to make sure every aspect of our celebration was exactly how we wanted. Our day could not have been more perfect!!! I have no doubt that the team at the Lumber Exchange will provide nothing but the absolute best for their clients.

When we booked with the Lumber Exchange, we knew it would be a perfect fit. Little did we know that booking with this exact venue would be what turned our day into a dream. The venue itself is black and female owned, and absolutely breathtaking. The food was delicious with tons of options. The bridal and grooms suites were great spaces for getting ready and photos. But honestly, the people are what made our experience so perfect. Will was our coordinator and made the process incredibly smooth. He was so communicative, flexible, understanding and truly made us feel like we were the only people he was working with. HE is why we will continue to rave about our day and this venue. Tyler and Jared were there on the day of our wedding and went above and beyond as well.

Overall, the Lumber Exchange is everything we could have asked for and we are so grateful to have shared our day with our favorite people in such a beautiful, historical place.

The space itself is absolutely gorgeous and exactly what we envisioned for our wedding day. The staff exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond to make sure every detail of the day, and leading up for it, went as smoothly as possible.

We booked with the Lumber Exchange for our wedding. My now wife and I are extremely pleased with the services we received and would recommend that anyone book with them too.

As one may expect our wedding venue was the first major choice we made. As such we had been working with the Lumber Exchange Event Center team for months before the big day.

Of particular note - Hannah was nothing short of amazing. Hannah was our account executive and was truly amazing to work with. Her communication, professionalism, attention to detail, and upbeat attitude provided us so much value through our experience. It's safe to say that both my wife and I were fairly demanding customers and felt anxious through various phases of wedding preparation. Hannah helped reassure us time and time again by answering our questions, guiding with experience, and being flexible throughout the process.

We ended up having both our rehearsal and wedding ceremony/reception at the Lumber Exchange Event Center. The event space is beautiful indoor venue especially great for unpredictable Minnesota weather. The inside itself didn't much else decor from us as it already has a great atmosphere with the tall ceiling skylight, huge warm brick wall, fountain feature, and more. The proximity to the more recent light rail makes transportation a tad complicated; however, directions are clear and the venue has a multiple parking/valet options at various price tiers. The venue's food options provided good variety, the tasting options ahead of time helped us choose our favorite food, and in the end our guests had great things to say about the food. Our guest count ended up being around 100 guests and the Fountain Room of the venue provided ample space for this. The adjoining River Room provided a great bar space and still had ample room to handle the transition period between wedding and reception. The onsite venue staff handled the room turnover quickly and efficiently. For music the venue has their own sound/mic system as well as a some great spots for a separate DJ to setup (both options we took advantage of).

We would highly recommend Lumber Exchange to anyone looking to make their wedding event a success!

We chose the Lumber Exchange because of the size of the space and the flexibility they gave us! We loved Will and his monthly emails made the entire planning process so much easier. They were super flexible in order to give us the exact timeline we wanted! They let us do many walkthroughs with out of town family and to help plan. The day of was spectacular. The bridal suite was the perfect place to hang out and get ready. The space looked stunning with the flowers and lights and everything was set up with plenty of time. The only note that we didn’t realize was that because it was Halloween weekend there was pretty loud club music that you could hear through the floor including during the ceremony. Just something to be aware of if it’s a holiday weekend especially! Jordan was awesome the day of though, everything ran smoothly and many people asked about our venue and commented on how amazing it was! 10/10 would recommend!!

Hannah Fox with Lumber Exchange was exceptional! Quick responses and very organized and detail oriented. Kept us calm as well as on a timeline. Great balance of the two!

Our wedding day was perfect! The LX staff were wonderful with everything from setup all the way to tear down. We even had a neon last name signs not working that we brought in for decor and the maintenance guy took the time to figure out how to get it to light up before everything started! Our venue coordinator was super organized throughout the whole planning process. Overall, highly recommend this dreamy venue! :)

I can't say enough good things about our wedding reception and planning experience with Lumber Exchange! It is one of few non-hotel venues downtown that could hold our 200+ guests. It's beautiful, unique and reasonably priced. The staff were very attentive and relaxed in handling the execution of our day. Would choose LEX 100x's over again.

Will’s team at LX could not be more phenomenal. Weddings are objectively terrible to plan, and their team made it incredibly straightforward for us to customize the day and stay on top of things. Immensely professional & timely, and abundantly kind. Will especially was so easy to work with, and was very knowledgeable on the ins and outs of having an event at LX. The day itself was surprisingly smooth as well, plus we got plenty of compliments on the food selection (with the chef being very flexible on the menu itself). Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an event center that will gladly take much of the burden of planning off their plate.

Lumber Exchange was amazing to work with! They anticipated our every need. Our weeding day was a dream that went off without a hitch, all due to their hard work and professionalism. Getting ready for the big day we had many changes, and they seem to find a way to say yes to any request we made.

The entire Lumber Exchange team was incredibly helpful both during the planning process and during our wedding day. The fountain room is a gorgeous space and many of our guests commented on how nice everything looked.

I cannot even begin to describe the amazing experience we had with the LX and all of the staff involved. It was the first venue we toured (of 7) and from the second we met Sarah (who has since left) it was clear this was going to be the venue to make our big day the BEST. We were paired up with Will Harshman and he could not have been more patient with my every little concern, easy to talk to and really worked to understand our vision and helped to guide us on how to get there. He made suggestions along the way which helped us to keep within our budget while ensuring we would also have a great time with our guests. The venue is set up perfectly for a modern style wedding but could easily fit many different styles and the staff is on top of it like a well oiled machine to make sure the entire day runs exactly as planned! Frequent check-ins along the way of planning as well as an attentive staff and excellent day of coordinator team (Jordan and Taylor) made sure that everything went off without a hitch! I cannot express enough how thankful we are to have had the experience working with Will and the team, I would recommend this venue to every single person on the planet if I could. Also the food! the food was AMAZING! We had a taco bar buffet and were told by nearly every person in attendance that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, a major win because we ALSO really loved the meal. Weddings are expensive ordeals, we all know this, but the LX had it all! We didn't need to waste money with 100 different vendors, they took care of the room flip, the linens and the overall set up and Will helped guide us to the right amount for food and drink for our size, adjusting where needed when our guest count changed by about 50 from the original plan. Another thing we loved about the venue is that the hotel (AC MARRIOT DOWNTOWN) is connected so our guests young and old only had to walk a short distance and INSIDE to get from one to the other, it made for a really slick transition throughout the day! There is not a single thing I would change about our experience here, if I could relive the day over and over again I would because it was flawless, and if there were hiccups we never knew about them, which to me is a blessing-with the help of the team at LX they took what is typically the most stressful day and made sure we didn't feel an ounce of stress from the venue-they even helped to crowd control some antsy family wanting to get in early! If you're looking to find the perfect place to have your romantic day, look no further Lumber Exchange has it all!

We love LX. We had such an easy time planning our wedding with the LX team - Hannah in particular. They are exceptional at communicating, answering questions, and keeping things moving on a reasonable timeline. We know that the Fountain Room is the more popular venue they offer, but we fell in love with Dylan's and Sawyers on 5th and knew we had to get married there. It's got an industrial feel with a very large cocktail space and ample room for guests and dancing - all while looking so incredibly cool. Our guests were obsessed with the space and are still talking about it weeks later. Our wedding day was an absolute dream and we credit a large part of that to how incredible LX was to work with. Weddings can be expensive, but if you can afford it, the Lumber Exchange is worth every penny.

The LX staff/venue was beyond our expectations!! This team, from the start to finish we’re AMAZING!! They truly made all our dreams come true, and our day was perfect♥️ So many compliments from family and friends how great our wedding, the space, and the staff were. Special thank you to the amazing Barb for literally making things that much easier on us and doing everything possible to make our day perfect! We had to reschedule multiple times but it was SO worth the wait! LX was not only a beautiful location for my wedding but the staff we worked with were equally amazing. We started out with one person helping and half way through we got word that we'd be working with Will for the remainder. I was nervous for the change at first but Will eased the nerves with quality, prompt, understanding and kind communication. Day of, we worked with Abby and Yekeen. They both were so great! They and their team worked so hard to make sure our wedding day was smooth. They worked with our florist, cake baker and photographer making sure everyone and everything was in place. The intern that was with Abby (unfortunately forgot her name) went beyond when helping my bridesmaids with my bustle and last minute 'fluffing'. I can't say enough how happy we are that we chose to have our wedding at LX. Between having so many things included and the incredible staff, I would recommend them to everyone for any event! Thank you so much!

Having a wedding in 2020 is not easy, unless you are working with Lumber Exchange and Hannah Fox. We were in the Dylan's and Sawyers rooms of the Lumber Exchange. There were so many times throughout all of the wedding planning that I felt overwhelmed with stress, and Hannah was able to answer everything. She was a total rockstar and was a great advocate for us. She made sure that we were confident and happy every step of the way. I can not recommend her and the venue enough.

The overall venue was the best decision we made. My husband and I are still talking about our day two weeks later and that is a HUGE thank you to our vendors. We felt like everything was a well oiled machine and everyone was so pleasant and willing to be helpful with whatever question or suggestion. We still have our wedding guests talking about how beautiful our venue was and how amazing all of the staff were.

We cannot express how thankful We are that we got married at the lumber exchange! My husband and I were planning our wedding before the pandemic happened and when it hit we didn’t know what our wedding day would look like. Sara was on top of all of it! She already created about three back up plans so We were ready for our wedding day! Because of Sara and the staff they made us feel super safe having a wedding during a pandemic, they followed all protocols with covid and we had a covid free wedding! The wedding day was better than I ever expected. The staff was on top of everything and We did not have to worry at all! So many guest came up to us and loved the look of the venue and how amazing the staff was!

I would 100% recommend this place to anyone. Amazing food, service, everything!! I cannot thank Sara enough for all the hard work she put into helping us plan everything out!

Sara and her staff were wonderful. For the rehearsal dinner they were on top of every detail and took care of any question or request immediately. Everything went perfect!! Would highly recommend Sara and her staff to take care of your Big Day or any event.

We had an amazing day despite all of the restrictions and changes required due to COVID-19. We came into our wedding week very stressed about some of the restrictions in place and being able to experience the wedding day with at least a minor sense of normality. We ended up being blown away by essentially everything. Our venue coordinator, Sara, was great to work with throughout the entire process.

We had several conference call meetings to go over each aspect of the day. Regardless of whether we had told her if something was set in stone she always asked again to make sure we were certain. One major bonus for us was the willingness of the venue to allow us to utilize the ENTIRE floor (both venues) for our day without charging us extra. Not only did this provide for a great aesthetic, but made our guests feel much safer due to the ease in which they could socially distance. Additionally, Sara and the staff did a great job communicating every step of the way despite the constant changes from state government (particularly for guidance in Minneapolis).

The venue was beautiful. Our location for the First Look and our Wedding Photos was amazing and we are so excited to see more of our pictures! We chose a spot on top of a parking ramp which provided a great background for our photos. Also, the food was very well received. We went with a beef and chicken dish, accompanied by a gluten and dairy-free noodle dish as well. Although these are unprecedented times for all young couples planning a wedding, rest assured that the Lumber Exchange will make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible according to how you envision it going. We had a great day, a great time, and so did our guests!

Our experience with the Lumber Exchange was top notch- from the wedding planners to the venue itself. We actually had to work with more than one planner (COVID reasons), but everyone we planned with was incredibly helpful and professional. They worked extra hard to make our day go as close to our dream as possible with COVID. Their response time to communications were great. The spaces are absolutely beautiful. The food was excellent. (The food tasting is amazing!!) The day of staff knew exactly what was going on and there was no miscommunication on their part. Even the security guards were pleasant.
I feel like the staff bent over backwards to help in any way we asked them. I couldn't be more happy with our experience. Book the LX today!

We are so blessed to be able to have got married at LX!!! Throughout all of the times of uncertainty with COVID-19, LX was with us every step of the way. They implemented Governor Walz’s executive orders to a T and our guests were pleased with how they maintained social distancing with 180 people!! The food was amazing and our guests can’t stop talking about how beautiful the venue was!!! I wanted a modern and classy wedding and LX provided us just that!! Special shoutout to Sara T, Abby G and Juju who made my day run seamless !!!! Highly recommend having a pandemic wedding at LX Mpls!!

We had our wedding here in February and it was an absolute dream. Our coordinator Will was wonderful to work with, and the staff on the day of our wedding was also great. If something went wrong, I never found out about it. They were willing to work with us on a tighter budget and helped us cut corners where we could. Everything went so smoothly and I couldn't have imagined a better place to have our wedding. For all the right reasons, it is definitely a day I will remember forever! Thank you so much to everyone at the LX for such an amazing wedding day!

We got marred here the weekend before Christmas 2019, and we have been hearing one word to describe our wedding from our guests- MAGICAL! And this is 100% due to the LX team. Hannah was a dream to work with during the planning process, very detail oriented, kept me on track, always had fast responses and helped me when I needed a different perspective.

Kelsey and Crystal were also spectacular as day of contacts. Kelsey helped us walk through our rehearsal to get over any day-before jitters. Crystal was like an old friend on the day of, keeping me sane, helping my bridal party with any questions we had and making sure we stayed on our timeline, while still getting to have fun and enjoy ourselves. I do want to also note that every single member of the service staff was friendly and answered all questions with a smile.

Lastly, I feel like I have to address how absolutely BEAUTIFUL the space was. We needed very little decor and the space was so natural with the exposed brick, large windows and charming chandeliers.

I cannot recommend this space enough, not only because of the visually appeal it provides but all of the people who helped make our day THE BEST EVER!

We held both our ceremony and reception at Lumber Exchange and could not be more happy with the evening! The venue speaks for itself, it is picture perfect! The facility is gorgeous with amazing bridal and groom suites to start the day, so many close locations for pictures (rooftop overlooking downtown, marble staircase, entryways, Pourhouse, etc...), and the perfect setup for a party! The staff make the experience so great with easy communication and coordination to help decrease the stress of planning the biggest day of your life! From the in-person meetings, emailing, dinner and bar service, concierge, security, and especially the day-of assistance; it was also seamless! Not only did our guests comment on the amazing evening but as the couple, we couldn't have asked for a better place to get married and through an amazing party!!

If you are looking for a venue I don't have any recommendations. If you are looking for THE venue, listen up!

From day one after visiting the Lumber Exchange Event Center, Julie and her Team treated me and my husband like royalty. After the tour my husband and I went downstairs to the Pourhouse to have dinner and a couple drinks and to our surprise our tab was covered by Julie and her Team! Can you say over-the-top? We hadn't even told them we wanted to book a date yet!

Here are some of the highlights:

1. COMPLIMENTARY day of concierge that handles everything from creating a secret stash of appetizers in your bridal suite to sweeping up a dropped drink seconds after it shattered on the dance floor. Allie you are a star!

2. I was able to come in the day before the wedding WITHOUT A FEE to decorate. Vanessa met me at the door and carried nearly everything upstairs for us and continued to help us set up. (SIDE NOTE: Vanessa had to get security to handle an overly drunk groomsmen the night of our wedding and it was the calmest, most under-the-radar thing I have ever witnessed. MAD PROPS!)

3. I asked hundreds of questions and Julie never failed to answer them and give examples all in the most timely order. She never made me feel bad and encouraged me to come visit the space before final planning steps to help bring my vision to life.

4. They respected my budget and weren't pushy. I had a number in mind and at times I was nearly $8k over and they helped me find realistic ways to cut and still have an event for the ages.

There aren't enough words to fully encapsulate the experience they created and all the little things that made significant impact on the overall day. I can honestly say nothing went wrong which is in large due to the fact that Julie, Vanessa, and their Teams didn't stop at anything to accommodate me and my family's requests.

They were so good, that we are now having an annual party at the Lumber Exchange on our anniversary weekend with our guests!

If for nothing other than informational, just meet with them for 30 minutes. And do yourself another favor and go downstairs and get the habanero cheese curds. Your welcome! :)

We absolutely loved the Lumber Exchange for our wedding venue! We utilized Sawyer's on 5th and Dylan's. The space was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was extremely helpful and responsive. Working with Ashley was a dream and she was quick to answer our questions and to help us understand everything that goes into planning a wedding. The day of our wedding went off without a hitch and our guests had an amazing time! We have gotten so many compliments about the space and how amazing the food was! The bartenders were also awesome and our guests had so much fun interacting with them! I would highly recommend using the Lumber Exchange for your wedding venue!

When my then fiance and I were looking for a venue, we had a very tight budget. I had really liked this place online, but wasn't sure if we could afford it. I emailed the venue back and said I didn't think it would work out, and instead of an "I hope you find your place" they emailed back and said "we will work with your budget because if this is where you see yourself getting married, that's all that matters!" Which was a HUGE relief because when we saw this venue in person we both completely fell in love. Knowing I was working with people who cared about my wedding and not just the money was amazing and not the normal. From our initial email, to saying goodbye after my wedding- the ladies at this venue were absolutely everything a bride (and groom) could need. We were married in the Sawyers room, which is so intimate and perfect for what we wanted! The chef made our requested meals with no hesitations, they set up the decor exactly how I envisioned, and made my dream wedding a reality. I would recommend this place to any bride/groom anywhere. This venue was PERFECT for what we were looking for, the food was exceptional, the attention to detail from the staff took the stress off me, and not to mention I have never been told "you are so beautiful" so much in my life than by the ladies that helped make my pinterest dream wedding a reality. The best part was my now husband who made it clear didn't really care much about the venue- was in awe at how perfect this place was and keeps talking about how much he loved our wedding and that has so much to do with the venue and the setting of the Lumber Exchange! All our guests adored the place and thought the entire night was organized, intimate, beautiful, smooth and flawless and it had everything to do with the coordinators I worked with and the venue! Thank you so much for all you have done and for helping our first day of forever be so magical.

We had our wedding here on July 22, 2017. It was absolutely magical, thanks to the staff at the Lumber Exchange! From beginning to end, they were top notch! A special shout out to Barb, Kenzie, and Makayla for working so hard to make our dream a reality!! They are truly the best!! The food was phenomenal thanks to Chef Jason!! We had so many people come up to us and rave about the food!! The atmosphere/decor was beautiful, and even better than we had envisioned. If you're looking for a wedding venue, look no further than the Lumber Exchange Event Center!!

My wife and I got married in the Fountain Room last December, and it was an absolutely perfect venue for our big day. The entire staff - particularly Makayla, Chris, and Barb were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. The space is absolutely gorgeous and the entire event was executed well beyond our wildest expectations. My groomsmen and I had a blast in the Groom's suite, and I know my wife and her bridesmaids loved the Bridal suite. I can't recommend the Lumber Exchange enough. They made our day truly special.

I want to first start out by saying WOW!!! We had our wedding reception at the lumber exchange two weeks ago and the staff, venue, and food were everything we could have dreamed of and more.
We paid a little extra to have the bride and groom suite available for the morning and it was so worth it. Us girls spent the morning doing hair and makeup in the luxurious bridal suite on the 3rd floor while the groom and the guys prepped in the groom's lounge on the first floor. I would recommend renting the bride and groom suite if you are planning your wedding at the Fountain Room.
Our cocktail hour was in the Fountain Room and guests were blown away simply by how extraordinary it was. If you have not seen pictures yet, it's a must! The magnificent two story fountain was a great feature for pictures and conversation while the unique seating and ambience of the room pleased guests.
We then moved into Sawyer's room, a more intimate area, for our reception. The room is lined with floor to ceiling windows that overlook Downtown Minneapolis. We chose to do family style pasta for our dinner and it was perfect. The food was impressive and guests appreciated not having to shuffle through a buffet.
And finally, the dance party started. The dance floor was spacious and again it was so cool looking out over the city as we danced the night away. We also used the venue’s photo booth and I know our guests had a good time with that, I would definitely recommend it.
Lastly, location, location, location! The lumber exchange is in the heart of downtown Minneapolis near several hotels, connected through the skyway, surrounded by tons of entertainment, and next door to the light rail. I really couldn’t ask for much more out of my wedding venue.

As a wedding photographer I've been to 350+ wedding venues in the Mid West, the Lumber Exchange was superb! The staff were there when you needed them but not hovering, the ambiance was "modern - meets 1890's lumber building" and the food and service was on pointe.

There are not enough characters to express just how wonderful the team at the Fountain Room were for my wedding. Barb was a constant source of joy and excitement. She took all my minuscule changes and many questions and ran with them, never once making me feel like I was a troublesome bride. Cambrie and Tom were wonderful during our rehearsal dinner, keeping us in the loop when we could eat and when we were close to our limit. When it came to the wedding, everything was exactly as I imagined it, if not better. They took my awful drawings for how the centerpieces should be arranged and made it reality, using all my extras to decorate the space beautifully. I learned quite early on that I didn't need to worry about vendor arrival times or when the bridal party needed to come up to the ceremony space. They had it all covered! If you want a beautiful space with an awesome staff that will make your big day everything you wanted it to be, go with the Fountain Room. You will not be disappointed.

The venue and staff were AMAZING!!! The weekend of our ceremony/wedding we were given nothing but 10000% from all staff!!!! Barb C our event coordinator and her intern Claire went above and beyond to make sure the venue was even better than we would have dreamed!

This venue was everything we wanted. It's elegant and magical and it's not just a room. It doesn't need to be very decorated for it to look stunning. We had many compliments on our ceremony and reception. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Our wedding was beautiful. Barb and Tom did a wonderful job the day of the wedding, helping make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible (regular updates as to when we could take pictures, when to move upstairs from the staging area, etc) while working around our own schedule (family and friend pictures, etc) and adding some really beautiful touches that made the reception area even more beautiful. The venue looked even better than we could have imagined. On Barb's recommendation we had the wedding catered through Agraculture, everyone was very complimentary of all of the dishes, salads and the late night appetizers (Tomato Soup Shooters with Grilled Cheese). I can't recommend the Fountain Room at the Lumber Exchange highly enough!

First, it's easy to see by all the wonderful pictures how amazingly beautiful The Fountain Room looks. From the marble staircase and the rich history inside The Fountain Room we couldn't of asked for a better venue for our wedding day.

For my husband and me, what truly made The Fountain Room special was the great team supporting us throughout our joyous occasion. The Fountain Room was the absolute perfect venue for our dream wedding! Barb and her team made our entire experience easy and fun! From the very get go, Barb was amazing! Her energy and vision put together the most beautiful space you can imagine. The venue itself has so many cool spots for photos, from the Pourhouse with its secret doors to the new club the Exchange with glass floors and jellyfish tanks. The Fountain Room is unbelievably gorgeous with the towering atrium and streetlights used in downtown Minneapolis a century ago. You have to see it yourself to know how beautiful this venue is!

We loved everything about this venue. There were so many different locations to host ceremony/social hour/reception and we felt it really allowed it to customize our day to exactly what we had wanted. The venue was remodeled between booking and holding our wedding – so it was even more stunning! The building/venue is beautiful, historical, and elegant, but it’s a must see in person. Our experience with the staff, specifically Barb and Tom, was phenomenal! This was the first venue we toured, and we did not know what to anticipate. We hosted a cocktail reception, and a suggestion from Barb on that first day on how to host such an event was one of the reasons we booked the venue. Her creativity, along with her staff, is even more astounding than the venue. We believe its what made the wedding so perfect.
In addition, every single vendor we chose came as a recommendation from Barb after we were unsatisfied searching on our own. Our guests could not stop raving about the food which was the in-house chef – everyone had a favorite, and no one hated anything! The staff were kind and attentive all night, I wish I knew all their names to thank them individually. You all were outstanding! Lastly, the event was so great, not only we not want it to end, but our guests didn’t either. So to everyone at The Fountain Room – thank you for helping us throw a wedding where no one wanted to leave!

The venue and staff were incredibly professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. I planned my wedding from another state, which can be overwhelming, but with Will’s guidance it never felt as difficult as it could have been. He walked me through every step, kept me organized, and even gave me “homework” to help track all the details needed for the wedding.

The food was absolutely fantastic. Many of our guests commented on both the generous portions and the incredible flavor of each dish. My husband and I were actually able to sit down and eat, and we could not have been more satisfied—everything was truly delicious. The team was also very accommodating with dietary restrictions and offered flexible options that helped keep both our guests and our budget in mind.

The venue itself is stunning and feels like it transports you to another time. The high ceilings and exposed brick are beautiful and create such a timeless, elegant atmosphere.

The only challenge we encountered was during the unloading process. Since I planned the wedding myself and brought in many items, unloading had to be done on the street, which was hectic and involved stopping traffic and dealing with frustrated drivers. This is something that could potentially be improved. That said, if vendors are handling setup and breakdown, this likely wouldn’t be an issue at all.

Aside from this minor inconvenience, everything else was wonderful, and we had an amazing experience overall.

We had the pleasure of being paired with Will as our point of contact for Lumber Exchange. He was very patient, knowledgeable and gave great input without trying to push us towards a service or change our vision of the wedding. Communication was quick, efficient and thorough throughout the planning process. The execution of the wedding was also flawless with amazing staff and quality service. Our guests had so many compliments on the food, venue and staff. The chef even came out towards the end of dinner to see how the food was and if we wanted more! I haven’t seen that at any weddings I’ve attended in the past. Prices are fair at lumber exchange given they are located within the city, but you have to pay for convenience and location. We had the most amazing time hosting our wedding at the Lumber Exchange. Don’t sleep on this place, it’s amazing!

I’m really happy we decided to have our wedding at Lumber Exchange! The venue was not only beautiful but they were amazing to work with throughout the whole process. And the food was amazing!

We have so many good things to say about our experience with the lumber exchange! We worked with Will H. throughout the planning process and he was there to help us every step of the way. Any question or concern we had, he was quick to answer or help guide us in the right direction. If we had one negative, it would be the food service. The service was delayed about an hour, which made the break hours we had set up for the open bar and photo booth get a little bit messed up, and also delayed some of our own picture opportunities. I completely understand being flexible, but it definitely put a pretty big wrench in the rest of the schedule. If anything, it would have been nice if they could have adjusted the open bar to coordinate with the delay in the dinner service. Other than that, we really did enjoy the food itself and loved every minute we got to spend celebrating!! Even with the delay, we were super happy with the overall experience and would do it all over again! :)

Our wedding in the Fountain Room at The Lumber Exchange was amazing!!!! The venue is absolutely breathtaking!!! We fell in love at first sight when we first toured and were still in awe the day of! We had SO many guests compliment on how gorgeous this venue was! The whole day went off without a problem. Our coordinator and event managers were on top of everything the whole day. The on site chef made delicious food that was displayed beautifully. The staff was so nice and friendly. We only had a handful of things that we wish were different. The biggest thing was the high price, particularly the high prices of the food/drinks. But being a downtown wedding, we knew it wasn’t going to be cheap. Our sales manager/coordinator was SO helpful with my many questions throughout the planning process, but I did wish she was a little faster to respond to my emails. I know she was very busy with weddings every weekend though, in addition to other events they do, so I completely understood. Also, the bride and groom’s suites were not available until noon the day of the wedding (what bride starts getting ready at noon?), and it cost quite a bit per hour to rent the rooms earlier than noon, and if we went in early we would have to pay the high prices for their chef to serve breakfast/lunch (no outside food was allowed). It cost us less to get a hotel room the night before instead of using these rooms. The suites were beautiful and I wish we could have used them for getting ready, but it just didn’t seem cost efficient. But overall, these things were not a big enough deal to detract from the high rating of this review and I totally would have my wedding here if I went back in time and had to do it all over again! This place helped us have the wedding of our dreams!!!!

We had an amazing experience having our wedding at the Lumber Exchange. My husband and I wanted a Minneapolis venue that was modern but still had some classic beauty. The Fountain Room and River Room is what we ended up renting, and everyone commented on how cool our venue was. The modern brick, huge ceilings, light posts and chandeliers are stunning.

We worked with Sara Thomalla throughout the planning process – she was incredible and bent over backwards to answer our questions and accommodate our requests. My husband and I are vegan, and we were thrilled that Lumber Exchange catering was able to meet those needs. Our guests loved the food, and 99% of them are not vegan. A big win!

The Lumber Exchange and surrounding area gave us photos even better than we could have dreamed. We are obsessed with the historic but modern look of the exterior, the massive marble staircase, and the towering skyscrapers we captured going on the top floor of the nearby parking garage.

We’d definitely recommend. Many guests told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, and we think this venue had a lot to do with that!

We highly recommend the Lumber Exchange Center for your wedding! We had a small ceremony in the Fountain Room, followed by a cocktail hour and dinner in the River Room, then a large reception in the Fountain Room. It was beautiful! Many of our guests have told us it was the most fun wedding they have ever attended. The food was delicious. It can be a bit confusing having so many different people in so many different roles, but they are all very friendly and accommodating, which was great since we had very specific ideas on set up and details. Chrishy, Vanessa and Kenzie were extremely helpful and professional.

Just book it. You won't be let down!! We were looking for a unique/interesting venue in downtown Minneapolis that would accommodate ~180 guests - and The Fountain Room delivered!! One of our favorite things about this place (besides the staff) is how you can take over the WHOLE Lumber Exchange Building. We had the option to have our cocktail hour in a variety of places with different atmospheres which really added to the experience of our wedding. The Fountain Room is GORGEOUS! ALL of our guests were enamored with the venue - and it's historical significance in Minneapolis. The staff was SUPER flexible and BEYOND accommodating. We didn't have to do anything - the staff did it all. Worth every penny. Loved it!

Booking my wedding at the Fountain Room was the best decision I've ever made. The venue was decorated BEAUTIFULLY, my guests were so happy, the food turned out excellent, and the staff was on point.

We absolutely loved this venue and Hannah made the entire experience AMAZING and soo easy!! I do wish staff were trained to handle emergency situations better but overall a great experience. Would recommend!!!!

My husband and I got married at Sawyers on 5th at the Lumber Exchange and used the Dylan room for our cocktail hour. When we first saw Sawyers on 5th and the Dylan room it was under complete renovation, but Barb sold us on the vision of the future design. Additionally, the beautiful brick of the original building and the floor to ceiling windows spoke for themselves.
We experienced some turnover within the staff during our process which made it a bit difficult in the planning, especially because we were planning from out of state, but they were always able to meet our requests.
On the day of the wedding, the LX staff did a great job not only with making sure the groom and I were relaxed and comfortable, but helping with all of the setup and coordination of vendors. Our day of coordinator, Chrishy, made a point to meet with my at the beginning of the day to receive a rundown of all the action items to be completed and went over what the entire day would look like so we would stay on track. Chrishy did a great job in making sure my groom and I had no worries. The venue itself is beautiful, the staff helps the day of to make sure everything runs smoothly, and the chef does a great job with the food and making any necessary accommodations. I would recommend the Lumber Exchange Event Center to any bride thinking about getting married in Minneapolis. Thanks for an amazing night to remember LX!

The Fountain Room at The Lumber Exchange Building is incredible. The exterior, the interior, the amount of space available - truly incredible. That alone should convince you to have your wedding or event here. The staff though. Seals the deal! Barb and her team are amazing, flexible and very supportive. We had our wedding reception, ceremony, after party and rehearsal dinner all within this building! We booked about 16 months in advance and used the in-house catering. Barb has tons of great ideas and will help you execute whatever vision you have. As we drew near the event, I was growing tiresome of fretting about little details. I told Barb what I envisioned and basically just described the mood I was going for and then I "let go and let Barb" the room was incredible for the ceremony and reception. We opted for a cocktail hour in The Exchange downstairs and it was so fun and unique, definitely take advantage of the variety of rooms available to you. The food was delicious, we opted for a cocktail style reception to keep the energy high and focused on fun. This is the kind of venue where you need to make sure you have a truly talented photographer (I certainly did) because there's so many amazing spaces for pictures.
If you're interested in a Pinterest-ish wedding where you have a ton of flexibility to make your space your own, The Fountain Room should be high on your list. You'll have support from the staff and awesome staff that is just focused on making everything perfect.

We found the Lumber Exchange through a co worker who recommended the space to us and I’m so glad we found it! We got so many compliments on the aesthetics of the space and loved the beautiful marble staircase that served well for all of the group and family pictures!

On top of that Julie did a great job prepping us in the prior weeks to the wedding and Chrishy, Vanessa, and Kenzie did an amazing job day of from setting the tables to, running to CVS for Advil and Gatorade, to making sure the building was the correct temperature. I can’t thank them enough for helping my wedding day go smoothly and allowing me to truly enjoy my day!

The Fountain Room is a gorgeous venue to hold any event at. I'll name a few con's before the good stuff!

One of the only con's is parking and unloading decor, but that is an issue at any downtown venue. Also, preparation for our wedding was not the greatest on Friday with the lack of communication that we received that another bridal party would be at the venue setting up their own decor for their wedding a day after ours. However, but venue's team absolutely made up for it the day of our wedding by busting their butts to make the Fountain room look absolutely magical!

My only suggestion would be having a wedding planner and or being very on top of it and organized because the lack of responsiveness via e-mail my mom and I received during long distance wedding planning at times was frustrating.

Overall, our actual wedding day was everything we could have ever imagined. I was nervous leading up to Saturday with how Friday's schedule went, but my husband, family, guests, and myself were all was blown off their feet when we came into our venue after social hour. The lit candles, flowers, and table decor were breathtaking. Thank you Fountain room team for busting your tails to make the venue everything I have ever dreamt of!

I am still getting compliments about how unique our venue was & it also doesn't hurt that the Lumber Exchange was the first skyscraper in Minneapolis! :)

This place is beautiful. It’s a gorgeous, dramatic venue with a really beautiful bridal and grooms suite. That’s about it. The person that you basically plan your wedding with very well may not be there or scheduled on the actual day of your event. A box of our wedding decor was misplaced and the coordinator for the day came up to me (bride) during dinner to go over security footage. The food we tried at the tasting is not the food we were served at the wedding and someone was actually hospitalized because of an allergic reaction when they asked the server if it was okay for them to eat. We have tried to get in touch with someone there for over a month and have yet to hear back. This place is not cheap. We thought for the amount we paid, there would be a little more organization and follow up but sad to say there was not.
*if you DO decide to have your event here, do not use their recommendation of Complete DJ either.

Only giving one star because zero is not an option. Used the LX for both our wedding and reception - a massive whole day event typical of Indian weddings. Although it is hard to find venues that host Hindu ceremonies, Indians, DO NOT go with the LX. It is well worth your money to go elsewhere. For any bride, the following details will be relevant in deciding on your wedding venue. Read on for details on the many complaints we had with their professionalism and competence:

- We had three event coordinators over the course of a year that switched each time with no notice on our part. The chef turned over twice with no notice. The LX does not handle information transfers well. Do not book them if you have a long engagement; their staff is not competent enough to pass the torch successfully and they have A LOT of turnover. The quality of their food also leaves a lot to be desired for the price they charge.
- Poor response to basic requirements of public spaces. All event spaces should understand two basics: 1) fire code compliance and 2) disability accommodation. The LX does not. They had a non-functioning elevator that they knew about for a day before our event and made no effort to reorganize the event to allow for accessibility, leading to multiple honored elderly people at our wedding being unable to attend key parts of the ceremony and one serious injury. The LX event coordinators are not competent enough to know what to do in the event of changes or issues day of. Barb Culbertson is their current Director of Events reporting directly into the owner of the business; she was onsite the day of our wedding and utterly incompetent to make changes or respond in any way to this catastrophe. Trust me, you do not want to look back at your wedding as one big legal fiasco simply because your venue's event staff is not capable of handling anything. You can be assured that should ANYTHING go wrong, the LX employees will have zero response during your wedding and WILL pass you onto their very slimy legal retainers, as they did with us.
- Hidden fees and unclear accounting. This may be an issue with all event spaces but we were not impressed with the fact that the LX staff does not know how to use Excel to show clearly which items incur fees and which incur taxes. Multiple times they attempted to charge us taxes on items that were NOT eligible, which is illegal. If we had not caught it, they would have gotten away with this too.
- Charge a high service fee with little to no service. We were charged exorbitant fees on outside catering (one of the things they will advertise with you that they can do "no problem" when you're shopping the venue then throw a lot of hurdles at you once you sign with them) as well as their in-house catering which received no service. We paid extra to use LX plates and cutlery, which was all provided so late that guests were waiting at the buffet line for quite a while during our event. Staff was not on hand at any point to respond to the needs of prominent guests; instead they will just follow the bride around and pretend that being visible is the same as being accountable.

In short - if you care about your wedding day and cannot guarantee that absolutely nothing will go wrong, DO NOT book the Lumber Exchange. I promise you want to work with an event staff that can respond to changes inherent to all events, who are alert and aware, who have read your event details, and who have at least a basic understanding of their legal obligations like fulfilling the terms of your contract and ensuring disability access.

The venue is nice HOWEVER the service was horrible. 99% of tables did not receive bread, it took 2 hours for the last table to be served. They were understaffed maybe 3 people for 190 guests. No coffee or forks or plates for the cheese cake. There were 2 weddings and it seems like they outsourced the staff. They had no idea how to serve a table or clear one. They gave us a very small settlement. Ask a lot of questions about the service before booking.

The LX Event Center is a beautiful venue, and that's why chose to marry in their Fountain Room. The chef was great, and accommodated all of my food allergies without sacrificing flavor. However, that's where the positive points end. Their staff is incredibly unprofessional, unresponsive, and will tell you what you want to hear, then completely screw you over. Not surprising why they have high turnover. We had THREE different team members throughout our planning, and each time we finally got ahold of the venue, they were clueless about our wedding. Not to mention when we were less than a month from our wedding, they finally told us they were going to start answering questions, they gave us our third event coordinator, who told us it was her first wedding, and no one came with to our final meeting to help her, and she was clueless and unprofessional. We were promised the Pourhouse for our cocktail hour, and told we had time to decide between that and the Exchange for sure because we booked first, but then after our final meeting (3.5 weeks before the wedding), they told us they gave it to the other couple and that since the other couple thought they had the PH, we would have to pay the extra bar bill costs of having no keg in the Exchange. This is literally one of 20+ times they were disorganized, so RUDE to paying customers, and extremely unprofessional to us. The only reason we stayed with them was because we couldn't afford to lose $10k if we backed out of the contract. Please do yourself a favor and choose a venue who treats you and your fiance like you're humans, not just another couple in the wedding machine they're churning. There are so many beautiful venues who will treat you way better!
