You Need Lily At Your Next Event

Lily recently photographed our wedding and exceeded our expectations. All of our photos are already back to us and they are beyond perfect. Aside from that, she was incredibly helpful throughout our entire day. She helped set up decor, made sure we remembered to eat, and even helped find my maid of honor’s lost phone. Lily’s work speaks for itself but she also genuinely cares and wants to make sure that you have a great day.

Best Photographer Around!

Lily is the absolute best photographer I could have asked for for my September 2020 microwedding. Her communication prior to the wedding was consistent and clear, and the pricing quote she provided was completely fair. On the day of, Lily was on time and had a great energy. She was efficient and did an awesome job of blending in with the crowd, while also wrangling my crazy family and friends to make sure that we used our time well and got all of the pictures we wanted. The morning after the wedding, she had already sent me 100+ edited pictures via iCloud which I was so impressed with.

I also can not express enough how happy I am with the way all of the pictures came out. We did our post-ceremony pictures on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk, and let me just say, Seaside has never looked more chic. I will 100% be hitting Lily up for every other event in my life worthy of a photo shoot - thank you so much, Lily!!!

Exactly who you want on your team!

We have so many great things to say about Lily Szabo, but here's the bottom line: hire her! Cannot endorse strongly enough!

From our very first email, Lily was an incredible resource, a calm and thoughtful collaborator, and just a lovely, fun human. We were so lucky to work with her, and our photos turned out absolutely incredible. She was such a hero, start to finish!

Lily is so talented in both the technical aspects of photography and editing, and in the way that she put us immediately at ease, confidently gave us photo direction (hello, we are not models), wrangled our big "colorful" families for portraits, and kept our day-of timeline moving forward. Thinking back on our wedding day, what stands out is how seamlessly it all went -- largely thanks to Lily's expertise. She is a true pro, and exactly who you want on your team.

Lily surprised us by sharing a selection of our wedding photos on her blog... just a few days after the ceremony! Did I mention this was just a few days before Christmas? I literally gasped out loud when I saw our photos - they were of course stunningly beautiful, incredibly emotional, and truly captured the spirit of our day. Lily has an eye for the small moments, and there were so many gems in our final photo set. She completely blew us away.

Best part of wedding planning

Working with Lily was the best part of wedding planning and one of the best parts of our wedding day. Not only is the quality of her work exceptional, but Lily is a genuinely a terrific person to be around (and to have around on your wedding day - remember, she has been through this 1 million times and is a wealth of knowledge!). I have gotten so many compliments on my wedding photos already. Lily was the first vendor we booked, after seeing her work after a friend's wedding years prior and making a note to remember the name because we'd never seen wedding photos that were so beautiful and not-cheesy. I would book Lily again in a heartbeat, and working with her may be the one thing I'll miss about wedding planning!

The Best Experience

When planning our wedding the one thing I was absolutely dead set on was hiring Lily as our photographer.
The day of the wedding was perfect. Lily made my camera shy husband feel comfortable during the solo portraits before our first look. The small details she captured were incredible. My cat hair clip in honor of my late cat Mia, the necklace I wore for my aunt who couldn’t be there, the tattoo of my dogs name on my ankle and so many more shots that had me tearing up when looking at our gallery. Lily seamlessly made our two giant Italian families cooperate during the family portraits (a feat within itself) and captured the most perfect candids during the reception. It’s been almost a year and we are still completely obsessed with our wedding photos and show everyone who will stand still for long enough.
I cannot wait to book a family session with Lily after the birth of our first baby in May 2020!

Booking Lily was THE best wedding decision we made!

Lily was recommended to me from my sister whose daughter was a flower girl in a wedding that Lily shot a few years ago. I perused her website and her instagram and was so impressed by her style of photography. Once we connected, though, I knew VERY quickly that Lily was exactly the type of person that I wanted to be leading the charge/in my corner on such an important day! I cannot express enough how incredible Lily was leading up to our wedding- between the engagement shoot to answering my many questions via email incredibly fast-Lily was always there for us. When it came time for our wedding day, I knew we were in the absolute best hands between her and her second photographer, Joe. Lily was early to my parent's house that day and I felt immediately relieved to see her! She led the charge between setting up the most creative backdrops for photos to making sure we were sticking to the schedule, and offering helpful advice throughout the whole day. Lily and Joe were in constant communication which was so helpful because he was with the groom and groomsmen at a different location prior to our first look. It made me so relieved to know Joe was doing the same thing for the guys! Both Lily and Joe helped us and our families with countless things throughout the day-from putting on the boutonnieres to bustling my dress once we got to the reception! They went above and beyond to make our day absolutely perfect. Lily is just an all-around awesome person to be around, who also happens to take the most incredible photographs. We just got our full gallery back and it is unbelievable how much she was able to capture throughout our day. I couldn't believe some of the specific shots they got because I had no recollection of Lily or Joe being remotely nearby! They both somehow moved throughout our ceremony and reception without ever being intrusive or too blatantly obvious. That must be such a hard balance to achieve as a wedding photographer, but Lily dominated at it. To sum it up, looking for a wedding photographer who is incredibly talented and who is equally as awesome? You found her!

7 Reasons Why

Where do I start? Lily was more than just an amazing photographer, she is the person that actually MAKES your wedding preparation worth your while. We had actually already done a shoot with another photographer before, so we were able to compare the experience and I can say that Lily’s photos and the whole shooting experience was sooooo much superior. After the photo shoot with Lily, we came away feeling ever closer, relaxed and happier as a couple (albeit in a stressful time!).
7 Reasons Why You Should Book Lily:
1. Lily suggested the perfect times and places to take the best photos considering lighting and other factors.
2. ^That was sunrise (=6am) for our shoot, and she came prepared and ready to go before 6am. Regarding punctuality, she even delivered the photos earlier than she had originally said which we realllly appreciated given the time crunch!
3. Lily knew where the best places to take photos are, and was quick to see the opportunities in new spots (we did ours in Central Park). I lived in NYC for seven years, never been to many of the places she took us in CPark - it was like I got a tour lol
4. Lily made it so EASY for us (=awkward and unexperienced-at-romantic-photos couple) to look more relaxed and in love, by engaging us in fun conversations while taking the photos.
5. Lily gave great direction in terms of where to place the hands, arms, legs, and head when out of balance.
6. She (at least seemed like she) enjoyed the sessions together, climbing rocks and almost getting splattered on by running dogs. She made the whole experience so cherishable.
7. Most importantly, I am EXTREMELY happy with the photos. They are stunning, natural (don’t look forced thanks to her direction skills), and brings back fun memories of the shoot.

Incredible Images and Personality

Working with Lily was one of my favorite experiences in wedding planning. Her style truly tells more of a story than traditional wedding images - you can watch the whole day unfold through them -- but she still captures the photos you want to send to your parents for the holidays. It was her style of photography that had me hooked and once we connected we immediately realized this would be an incredible partnership because her personality is both professional and addictive! She was honest and open with what it is I was looking for - from budget to shot list - as well as finding a way to make all the timing day-of work. Also hiring the Sprinkle Booth was the best decision - we have hundreds of fun photos of our guests to enjoy for years to come. I have already been recommending Lily to everyone and I'll continue to do so! I never thought I would be this obsessed with my wedding photos. There is truly no other photographer like her in this area.

Sure, you could find someone to photograph your wedding for next to nothing, but c'mon, you want it done right, in the least obtrusive way, with someone who understands your ideas, your personality and your vision for your big day. This is Lily to a "T." I'm no professional model, so I don't have routine experience with having my picture taken. I tend to clam up or give the most awkward, forced smiles in the world. Despite my personal shortcomings, Lily blew us out of the water with her work. Do yourself a favor and look at her site - as soon as I did, I knew that this was EXACTLY the style I wanted. She does beautiful work and is worth every single penny we spent. For us, there was no one else I could've imagined capturing these moments. She's simply the best!

We are SO happy we hired Lily to take our photos, and she was worth every single cent we paid her - no question! Right from the beginning she was responsive, easy to communicate with, and just an overall pleasure to work with. We planned our wedding on a short time line and Lily worked us into our schedule with no trouble at all. Lily's laid back style helped us feel at ease and delivered some beautiful and totally natural looking photos. She really did make us feel like old friends, and was so thoughtful about what would make a great photo, not just what would be easy for her to shoot. We suggested a photo session at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and Lily even managed to make us look cute with mouths full of tacos!

On the day of the wedding, Lily showed up early and graciously gave us a bit of extra time with her. Though we were glad to have it, we did not need it, as she is incredibly efficient and organized especially when it came to wrangling everyone for family photos. During our reception Lily was everywhere, and nowhere. We felt like we hardly noticed her but she managed to capture so many special moments. There were a few moments throughout the day that I thought, I hope Lily is somewhere getting this on camera, and sure enough those photos showed up in our preview - which was amazing, and ready so quickly! We haven't seen our full set of photos yet, but if the preview is any indication we are confident they will be awesome. It was also really impressive that she got so many great photos as a single shooter.

Lily made us feel so special and glamorous on our wedding day, and we are so excited to have such beautiful photos to treasure for years to come. We would recommend her to anyone, without any hesitation.

Working with Lily was amazing! My now husband and I were not super excited about being in front of the camera but Lily's style made it so easy! We never felt awkward or posed and actually had a ton of fun laughing with one another as Lily asked us questions about each other and took candid shots. Our wedding day photos far exceeded our expectations and Lily managed to capture the feelings of the entire day through her pictures. The shots she managed to get are amazing - half of the time, I didn't even realize she was there. She gave us a huge preview of our wedding day pictures the next day so we didn't have to wait and we received all of the pictures from our wedding day just a few months later. Lily was an absolute dream! Not only was she extremely responsive months before the wedding with all of our questions, but she was also incredibly attentive on our wedding day. As a photographer, Lily made us feel calm, loved, and so comfortable, things that went far beyond our expectations. She coordinated seamlessly with all the other vendors, accommodated all of our family photos, helped bustle my dress in record time, and I can only imagine that she did SO much more than we will ever know. Lily is the best. From the first time we messaged her I could tell she was a little different than your run of the mill wedding photographers. She goes above and beyond to become acquainted with the couple she's working with. She made us feel very comfortable which is important because she is there to capture you in intimate moments. On the day of the wedding I felt like she was a second maid of honor, she clued us in to some of the subtleties of weddings I had never thought about (how to pin on a boutonniere, what to do with my bouquet...). We got our pictures fast and they turned out amazing, even got some compliments from other professional photographers I know. Wouldn't have chosen anyone else to help us remember our big day!

Lily is amazing! She makes the entire process, from engagement photos to the big day to her new photo booth-- easy, fun and memorable. Lily was the best photographer we could ask for. She was so warm and friendly, I knew from the beginning I had made the right choice. My husband and I aren't the most comfortable in front of a camera, but she made us feel immediately relaxed with her banter and her stories, it quickly became easy to just smile and laugh at each other. She had a great eye for detail and always made sure that we got the best pictures possible in any kind of space. On the morning of the wedding, she pointed out several things (bring a little pair of scissors, make sure we don't forget our shoes) that ended up being little lifesavers over the course of the day - she was so proactive, I really felt that we'd gotten more than just a photographer. Lily was so great! I was so happy to find a photographer as talented as her in my price range. It seemed like every photographer out there in NJ/NY was charging $5000+ for the day plus a whole bunch of fees. Lily was nothing like that! She's fair, honest, friendly, and extremely talented! I follow her on Facebook, and every wedding and engagement session I've seen her do is amazing. She really helps you to relax in front of the camera so that the shots appear natural. If she's available on your date, book her for sure!

If you are considering Lily as your photographer for your wedding, engagement, or any other event you could ever want photographed do your self a favor and hire Lily! She is beyond professional, efficient, and skilled in what she does. On my wedding day I was stresssssed but Lily was a perfect angel in keeping me calm and maintaining the schedule to make sure we got all the pictures we wanted. We hardly felt her snapping all these amazing pictures around us. She was always prompt with responses to questions and made the process so much more enjoyable. We did the engagement session which I highly recommend (as I would assume most people don't have professional pictures taken that often) it definitely helped us get used to the process. If you need an engagement and/or wedding photographer look no further than the amazing artist & person Lily Szabo! Jess & I were looking to have engagement photos for our save the date & were looking for photographers, we browsed Offbeat Bride. We contacted Lily because we found that her photos were the most stunning & memorable of the bunch. In the photos people looked candid and look amazing!
Lily was incredible accommodating, when we couldn’t figure out a time & place to do a meet & greet we were able to schedule a Skype meeting. We found out that Lily has a background in fine art photography with the desire to take photos for art galleries.
This made sense - she isn’t just a photographer Lily Szabo is an artist. She started doing weddings & fell in love with telling peoples stories and personalities through pictures. I have been involved in a few weddings – she is not the standard photographer just going through the motions for a job.
The best part about Lily Szabo was her personality & attitude to what our needs were. When we met on Skype we all got to know each other and talk about our photo ideas. She was a big part of figuring out what would be fun, different, and fit our personality. Once again she accommodated – early hours for sunrise on the beach. When Lilly came for that shoot, it was like meeting an old friend rather than our photographer. Yes, Lily was there to do a (amazing!) job and she did it; but even in the early hours on a cold beach the shoot was fun!
Same can be said about the wedding – it was held at Jess’s parents’ house. Lily checked out the area, planned some shots, asked what we thought, got feedback & took pictures. She then got great pictures throughout the night. Lily was like having one of our friends at our wedding that also happens to be the best wedding photographer you could hire. We can’t say enough about Lily’s amazing photos, attitude, and work ethic. We now own hundreds of great photos & memories because of her.

How do I even start to write about my experience with Lily? I can sit here and write a million and one ways that she surpassed my every expectation for our wedding. But let me tell you the things that I think are important, as a bride and groom.

Lily answered every single one of my emails very promptly and our engagement session was so so nice. She made us feel extremely comfortable and in turn got great shots! Being a photographer isn't just about being able to take awesome pictures, you have to be fun and personable as well, which is exactly what she is. We ended up having to change our wedding date because we switched venues, but we found a date that worked with Lily and switched with no problems. Lily was by far the best vendor that I worked with. She helped me plan the timeline for our day when I couldn't even imagine where to start. That's the kind of experience that you're going to have with her. This chick has your back!

Every single one of my guests and even our venue commented on how fantastic she is. People are still raving over her pictures! It's amazing, this fantastic lady who I've only known for about a year felt like just as much of a guest at our 40 person wedding as family.

I had no idea Lily was even taking pictures at my wedding. This girl is like a ninja, her presence was only known when I was stopping to have little side conversations with her. This is what you want in a photographer, seriously. Not someone who's up in your face all night.

Finally, you always imagine your wedding pictures as a couple. Bride & Groom, or whatever. That's all I imagined, that's all I was looking forward to. Lily captured the most perfect moment as my brother was walking me down the aisle. It might just be my favorite picture of the whole set. She gave me something I didn't even know would mean so much to me.

If you're thinking about booking this chick, just go ahead and do it. You're going to love her and her photography.

I can't even begin to put into words how amazing Lily is. She went above and beyond anything I could have ever expected from a photographer. And from speaking to friends who got married, generally they spent a lot of money on a photographer and many were very disappointed. NOT US!! She showed up early and stayed late. She help almost as a wedding coordinator while everyone was getting ready, and I was starting to get a little stressed with the small details of the day. Some of my family members have strong personalities, and she just fit in and helped keep everyone organized and on time. Sometimes I would just stop what I was doing to think about how awesome she was. And that was all before we even started taking official pictures!
I tend to feel very uncomfortable being photographed (unless it is late night fun with friends!). Lily helped my husband and I feel so comfortable the whole time. We talked the entire time and she just kept snapping. She took awesome picture of us and the group and nothing felt forced. Even though we were talking pictures in 85 degrees weather on the beach, we were all having fun.
And for the ceremony, she captured such special moments, and I am so grateful for that! When looking back on the pictures, I have no idea how she could move around the whole ceremony so fast to get different shots, but she did and they were beautiful. She even chased us down LBI Blvd to take pictures of my husband and I ride our bikes. She has an amazing eye for great shots, and I will treasure our experience with her forever.
My husband and I also contacted her to do a family shoot with our dogs a few months later, and they were absolutely breathtaking. She is wonderful artist, has a beautiful spirit, and I highly recommend her.

If you're pondering who you should pick as your wedding photographer, stop now and pick Lily Szabo Photography. Lily was great all the way through the process. For my small wedding, she captured great photos/moments that made a City Hall wedding look like a million bucks. This was down to her skill and interactions with the wedding party. The latter is really important because (as I realized) a photographer with good communication skills makes a stressful day much easier. Not to sound corny, but five stars isn't a high enough grade for the wonderful service she provided!

Lily was, hands-down, the BEST decision we made when it came to our wedding (and I thought we had a pretty great wedding!). She's affordable, professional, super-sweet, and most importantly, absolutely amazing at what she does! Leading up to the day, she would always answer any question I had/email I wrote within an hour, and it eased my mind knowing how prepared she was with the different questionnaires she had us fill out. On the actual day, I couldn't have asked for anyone better. She kept the conversation going as we were heading up to the first look so that I wouldn't think about how nervous I was! She had some wonderful ideas in terms of different shots to set up, and was very receptive to different pictures and locations that my husband and I wanted as well. When it started drizzling in the middle of our portraits, that was no issue for Lily...she had some alternative ideas ready to go. She wasn't pushy or intrusive at all, and got many wonderful candids when I didn't even realize she was there! The photos came out better than I ever could have imagined, and we are forever grateful to Lily for that. I can't wait to get them printed and get an album! Thanks again :)

Before I even spoke to Lily I knew I wanted to work with her. Her pictures were so beautiful and the little background she gives on each couple really shows you she cares about the people she photographs. From our first meeting, to the wedding day, and in the weeks after our wedding she has always been professional, responsive, and attentive. There are so many things I appreciated and enjoyed about Lily but here are a few of the highlights.
1. The photos are amazing and because she loves what she does so much she had previews for us to look at just a few days after each shoot. These were not just a handful of pictures; these were about 15/25 high quality photos that perfectly summed up our day.
2. Professional, she was always on time, answered every email, and a brief questionnaire about what pictures I wanted on our wedding day. I found all this to be so helpful and because she knows what she is doing everything went so smoothly.
3. Quality of the pictures and the experience of working with Lily are worth every dollar. For all she does for you and how amazing the photos turned out she is a steal.
I could not recommend Lily more!!! We were so lucky on our wedding day to work with some many amazing vendors. Make sure for your wedding to work with people that communicate well, have a passion for weddings, love what they do, and you can rely on, I most certainly felt this way about Lily.

Lily did our engagement photos and photography for my wedding on May 16, 2015 in Hamilton, NJ. From first contact to finished product, it was a pleasure to work with Lily. She is friendly, professional, and creative. Lily was easy to contact from the moment we hired her. She was truly interested in all our ideas and answered all our questions promptly.

Our engagement photos were phenomenal. She was able to capture amazing shots in a variety of areas and in a venue that had low lighting. She was very receptive to all the ideas I had, and came up with poses and shots that were creative, romantic, and highlighted my husband and I perfectly. My husband is very shy, and Lily put him at ease immediately, which made our photo shoot very comfortable.

On the day of our wedding, Lily showed up at our hotel a bit early, which I really appreciated, since the last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is going off schedule and being rushed! Lily has an amazing personality, you truly feel like she is just another friend in the room helping you get ready, but at the same time, she has a level of professionalism that helps keep everyone on schedule. She was able to adapt easily, taking some amazing shots around our hotel room.

Our wedding was in a garden and Lily was able to look around and instantly find beautiful areas to take photos. She was unobtrusive during the ceremony and reception. She was always there, but she was never in the way. She really goes above and beyond - I realized I had left my purse outside during the photos, and she immediately offered to go grab it, I have to mention she did this IN THE POURING RAIN!

Lily also posted previews of both our engagement and wedding photos the next day, instead of us waiting weeks, which was great! I highly recommend Lily Szabo Photography for any weddings or special events. Lily is wonderful to work with and my husband and I are 100% satisfied with the results!

Lily was so great! Everyone raved about how sweet and awesome our photographer was! And the pictures were gorgeous too. Lily really took the time to get to know me and my husband and take photos that captured our personalities.

This was a second wedding for both my husband and I with children involved. I can't express how pleased I am with Lily and would highly recommend her to anyone. From a super fun no stress engagement shoot with our girls to breathtaking photos of our wedding day lily was perfect! I had a very unprofessional vendor that was ruining our entire day...lily gently calmed me down and did everything she could to fix the problem down to using her personal iPod. She went above and beyond what I ever expected! She never crowded us and was always ready to take any photo we wanted. She made sure whatever shots we wanted were taken. If you are looking for a professional high quality super fun and amazing photographer I would recommend Lily!!

Lily Szabo recently took the photographs of a Woman of Distinction Fashion Show and Gift Auction fundraiser. She was incredibly professional, warm and hard working. Lily made all the models feel really comfortable and took absolutely wonderful photos, both spontaneous and posed. She never intruded on the event, yet managed to take just the right amount and type of photos that we needed. I would definitely recommend Lily to anyone looking for a photographer and hope to use her talents in the future.

Lily was our photographer for our wedding in May, 2014. When it came time to do the engagement shoot a week before the wedding, we could not have been happier with how professional, wonderful, and calming she was. My wife and I felt completely at ease during the shoot. It was all things intimate and romantic, but most importantly it was fun! She allowed us to be natural during the shoot, and never once made us feel uncomfortable or made us pose in an awkward way. A week later at the wedding, she was even more unbelievable and understanding dealing with our changing plans and rolling with what the weather. I have been to plenty of weddings where you are always aware the photographer is taking pictures of you and generally in your face the entire time. Lily was not like this. She took beautiful pictures of the ceremony, reception, friends, and family. The majority of the time you didn't know she was photographing you, and it really shows in her wonderful, candid, and deeply personal pictures. My wife and I could not have been happier when we were able to get the preview shots and see how much time, patience, care, respect, and overall understanding she was in telling our story. And this is why Lily is so great to work with: she tells your story. She takes the time to understand you, and how your love came to be. She told our story perfectly, and it reflects in her shots. We have recommended her to our friends and family, and could not be more ecstatic with how incredible working with her truly was.

You might think it's silly that we have Lily all five stars, but we wish we could give her more! We feel like we really lucked out when we found Lily and couldn't imagine spending our day with anyone else. She is professional, attentive, and brilliant. And her photography is so well crafted and beautiful. I still can't believe how affordable she is because her pictures are so well done that she should be much more expensive.
The engagement shoot was the perfect opportunity for us to get to know eachother (which is why she likes them) and it made our wedding day run smoothly. Lily is so much fun, she spends time listening and watching to learn about the couple and applies that to her photography. I just can't say enough. Although we feel lucky to have found her to photograph our wedding, we feel even luckier to have found such a great friend. We won't let anyone else take our pictures now!

Where can I even begin- Lily was the single best investment I've ever made in a party. We reached out to her to capture our son's first birthday, and we could absolutely not have been happier with the outcome. Lily was professional without being stuffy, friendly with our guests without being intrusive, and takes amazing pictures! She even offered to come early to take some shots of the three of us as a family, and when we weren't ready (first time parents, haha) she offered to come back a different day to take them! As if all of this wasn't good enough, she was so affordable, we almost couldn't believe it.

Lily allowed us to relax and enjoy our little guy's first birthday party without the added stress of capturing all of those special moments on film, and we can't do enough to recommend her for your event. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!!

Lily is an absolutely incredible photographer. I was working with a very tight budget and, frankly, could not have afforded anyone in her caliber. Fortunately I was able to work out a deal with her that included letting her post our wedding pictures on her site (which you should totally check out). She met with us a few times before the wedding (while planning her own). She did an engagement session with us (our third...and the only one we were able to use a photo from for our Save-the-Dates) which was wonderful as my husband is very uncomfortable in front of the camera. It was such a relief to have him say he was comfortable taking pictures with Lily and that she could provide him with the step-by-step instruction he needed in front of the camera. On the day of the wedding, Lily came to my salon to get pictures of my make up and hair being done, then followed me back to my house to get all the girls getting ready. I don't think she missed a minute of the day, yet somehow she got over to the church to snap pictures of the guys before I got there. After the ceremony, we took formal portraits in the church and at Rutgers Gardens. The Gardens pictures look like they were clipped from a bridal magazine and I still can't decide which ones are my favorites. At the reception, every photo I (or someone else) wanted, Lily snapped before we could ask for it. She also was excellent at working with one of our bridal party who is autistic and not entirely comfortable with posing for photography. The following afternoon, she sent me a preview of about 35 pictures from the wedding. Less than 24 hours later! I really can't say enough wonderful things about Lily, but if you are looking for a photographer in the Central Jersey area, I am positive you can't do any better than her. Definitely book her now!
