Simply a Joy
Rev. Dan Campbell was wonderful. Due to COVID our initial plans had to be reworked and then we got pregnant, so that added more delays. Rev Campbell was wonderful and made all so easy for us. Thank you! -

Wow, what an amazing officiant. We needed one on short notice, called Daniel and talked to him about being our officiant about 5 days before our wedding. Small ceremony due to COVID19. He was prompt to email us a few sample ceremonies, he was courteous and a very down to earth guy.
I would highly recommend him for your ceremony, whether its religious, non religious, traditional or a custom ceremony he will do as you wish. Thank you again Daniel for meeting with us today and making our dream offical -

When we first met with Rev. Daniel Campbell, we knew we found the right person to marry us the moment we shook hands with him. We appreciated and loved his traditional values, but most importantly, we appreciated his genuine care for our story and getting to know us as a couple and who we are as people. That made all the difference, and he brought the perfect balance of humor and emotion by personalizing our ceremony and making it what we wanted it to be. Our family and friends were struck by his beautiful words and prayers for us, and the room was filled with happy tears and emotion. Rev. Daniel Campbell is one of the most sweetest, kindest, and heartfelt man I ever met. When my husband and I first met him to discuss the wedding, he was genuinely interested in us and getting to know our story. I was so touched when he became emotional during this time and the day of our wedding. It truly shows he loves his job and those he works with. He made sure to keep our friends and family entertained and engaged during the ceremony. He stayed around patiently after the ceremony to take pictures and continued to show his gratitude to be there. He worked hard to find discounts for us, even though he is already reasonably priced. He promptly responded to emails and text messages, mostly within the hour. Even after the wedding, he assisted me with making sure our marriage certificate was processed and ready to pick up. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a wedding officiant that is personal, reasonably priced, and professional. -

Rev. Campbell was the perfect fit for us to officiate our wedding. He met with us prior to booking to discuss his values, our values, and our relationship. He allowed us to choose from several ceremony scripts and to edit them to make sure our ceremony was exactly what we wanted. He was so kind and accommodating through the whole process and we've already recommended him to others in need of an officiant. He is kind, respectful, reasonably priced compared to other officiants in the area, and really makes your wedding ceremony special. -

He even brought a sense of humor to our ceremony making everybody laugh and giving us such a relaxed feel. You would have thought he'd known us forever. His ability to be flexible and incorporate some special details in our ceremony meant so much. He responded to my emails almost immediately and stay in touch with us right up until the wedding day. We couldn't have had a better person to perform our ceremony.

Kirsten Sent on 11/09/2017Mr. Campbell was a dream. He was so friendly and genuinely seemed to care about everything we wanted for our ceremony. We exchanged quite a few emails and texts getting all of the details perfect & he was the one that wanted to meet up before the ceremony for all of us to get to know each other beforehand. Even when I forgot the marriage license the day of the wedding, he had no problem meeting up with us the day after all the way out in VB (when he lives in Chesapeake). Mr. Campbell was more than accommodating and I wish him all the health and happiness the good Lord can give him and his family. Hopefully I never get married again (haha), but if I did I would choose him all over again! I would recommend him to anyone and everyone getting married!

I truly wish I didn’t have to leave this kind of review, but I feel strongly that no other couple should go through what we experienced with Daniel Campbell.
At first, Daniel seemed like a great fit—friendly, helpful, and even offered us a discount because he said he’d always wanted to officiate at our venue (The John Marshall). Unfortunately, everything went downhill after our initial email exchange.
After I selected a script and asked a few follow-up questions (about making edits, scheduling a rehearsal, and microphone use), he completely ghosted me for two weeks. I had to follow up via text to even get a response. From then on, he only replied to texts and would call at random times instead of responding directly to emails or messages. He mispronounced my name repeatedly, even after being corrected.
He also sent me an email clearly intended for another couple, and when I pointed it out, he jokingly said he should hire me as his assistant. That would have been more humorous if it weren’t a sign of how disorganized and inattentive he was with our details.
A week before the wedding, he texted me asking questions I had already answered multiple times—and it became clear he thought our wedding was a week earlier than it actually was. When I corrected him, he also referred to the wrong venue altogether, saying he was excited to officiate at the Jefferson (not where we were getting married). At that point, I handed his contact over to my mom to help manage him because I no longer trusted that he would show up prepared.
At the rehearsal, I asked him to arrive 15 minutes early—he was still late. He didn’t bring the edited version of our ceremony script. The two changes I made were simple: one added paragraph and a glass breaking ceremony to reflect our interfaith marriage, and something he had mentioned numerous times he was extremely honored to be a part of. Thankfully, I had printed the script myself and handed it to him. But he placed it in a binder full of his old scripts, in sheet protectors, with pages layered front and back—making it impossible to read clearly. He was visibly confused and it was extremely evident he had not read our script much at all and was going to the night before, we were quite worried he was going to wing our ceremony.
He also asked if he could bring his wife to the wedding after he showed up to our rehearsal, and casually mentioned he had brought his cat to their hotel room—which, while odd, was just another example of his lack of professionalism.
Day of the wedding? He mispronounced both of our names, strayed from the script, and worst of all, completely skipped the glass breaking ceremony—a moment that held deep personal and religious significance (and something he did say he was honored to partake in). My husband had to quietly prompt him, and his mother stepped in with the glass before Daniel finally realized his error, and corrected the mistake. It was embarrassing and heartbreaking.
After the wedding, things still weren’t over. He failed to submit our marriage license within the required 5-day window. We had to call the court ourselves and pleaded with them to help us out, especially given we no longer lived in Richmond. When we asked Daniel when he mailed it, he said he hadn’t yet—because “the courts don’t really enforce that rule.” (They do.) After a lot of back and forth, the court said they would accept it if it was overnighted to them. But Daniel decided overnight shipping was too expensive and sent it two-day instead. Only after we demanded proof did he provide written confirmation from the court that they would accept it. We finally received our marriage certificate over 3-weeks later.
Daniel may have good intentions and seemed very genuine and kind, but he was consistently unresponsive, disorganized, and careless. The ceremony is such a meaningful part of the wedding day—and instead of it being heartfelt and seamless, it became a stressful and disappointing experience. I strongly recommend future couples look elsewhere. We had high hopes given his track record of good reviews, but the experience we got did not match up with what others experienced sadly.
