Josh was seriously the BEST choice for our wedding photographer! We could not be happier with how the photos turned out. He was excellent and prompt with communication and helped remind me of details I would’ve forgotten during the wedding craziness.
We got our edited wedding photos back just 9 days after our big day. I am blown away at the quality AND quantity of the photos we received back. All of our friends and family who have seen the photos are thoroughly impressed.
Josh is SERIOUSLY like a ninja. I can’t believe all of the photos he captured of the day, because I hardly noticed he was there. He was super discrete and extremely quick. Josh also really helped me feel special on my wedding day. Anything I did or didn’t want to do, Josh was quick to remind me that it was my big day and we would do whatever I wanted.
He was fun, jovial, and so kind. I also think Josh offered fair and transparent pricing that he customized to fit our specific needs. Lighter Focus deserves endless praises that I will happily sing to all of my friends who get married in the future. I seriously could not recommend them enough! -

Alan, the owner of Lighter Focus exceeding our expectations. We wanted a photographer with an artistic eye to capture our wedding day. Alan plays on light in such a beautiful way. These are not your typical wedding photos which worked for my husband and I. We wanted shots that captured not only our likeness, but the beauty in what surrounded us as well. We were so lucky to have had some left over snow and it made every photo that much better. Alan takes his time to get to know the couple in preliminary interviews and made sure he knew who his subjects were. His head was on a swivel and captured some amazing shots of our wedding guests. We will treasure these photos until death do us part. Thank you, Alan. -

We could not be more happy with our experience with Alan and Josh. They are both so friendly and professional and became such a seamless part of our wedding day. In our initial meeting, we expressed how important it was to us that all of the little moments of our wedding day be captured, along with the big ones obviously. We wanted to see all of our people interacting, all of the laughs, all of the tears. We knew we would be running from one place to the other all day and would miss all of these once-in-a-lifetime moments otherwise. Our wedding photographer was one of the most important decisions for us when it came to choosing our vendors and we can honestly say that Lighter Focus did NOT disappoint. Our gallery was more than we could have dreamed. Everything we asked for and so so much more! We will be showing off these pictures to anyone and everyone who will look for the rest of our lives. -

Alan is an amazing choice for your wedding day. He is experienced, punctual, efficient, and creative. Although he was the singular photographer for our wedding, it was like he had a second shooter as he got every shot that we desired and more! Alan and his crew are incredible! I cannot recommend Lighter Focus enough. Alan is so knowledgeable about the lake and the best spots to get the best lighting and our pictures prove that! He was easily accessible prior to the wedding and very time efficient with our packed schedule. We were so pleased when we got all of our photos back within a month! I cannot recommend LighterFocus enough!! -

Before I share my experience with Lighter Focus Photography, it's important to understand just how significant photography was to me throughout the entire journey from engagement to wedding day. I've always had a deep appreciation for how a photograph can encapsulate a moment, and that's why, for me, choosing the right photographer was non-negotiable.
I embarked on an exhaustive search for the perfect photographer. I even considered professionals from out of state before I stumbled upon Lighter Focus Photography. What caught my attention immediately was the consistent stream of 5-star reviews from their clients. With my shortlist narrowed down to three photographers, I began reaching out to those who had experienced their artistry firsthand.
My first interaction with Alan, the creative genius behind Lighter Focus Photography, occurred during our engagement session. Prior to this, we had exchanged numerous emails and spoken over the phone. Alan's preparation was evident from the start. He asked all the right questions, ensuring he understood our vision and any special requests. His recommendations on what to bring and what not to bring were invaluable. Even though the location we selected for our engagement photos was unfamiliar to him, Alan's innovative ideas transformed it into the perfect backdrop, yielding my all-time favorite shots.
Alan's approachable and accommodating nature made working with him a breeze. His sense of humor added an element of fun to every interaction. Beyond his talents as a photographer, he's simply an awesome person to have by your side on your wedding day. When unexpected hiccups occurred, Alan was quick on his feet with a plethora of solutions. During our bridal party photos, disaster struck as the strap of my dress snapped. Before I could even process what had happened, Alan had dashed to his bag, retrieved a mini sewing kit, and expertly mended my strap, seamlessly saving the day.
Some may have perceived him as 'demanding' at times, but we understood that his drive was fueled by his determination to capture the best moments efficiently. This allowed my groom and me to return to the reception and savor our wedding day to the fullest.
In summary, Lighter Focus Photography not only met but exceeded my lofty expectations. Alan's dedication to his craft, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to making our special day truly memorable are qualities that make him not just an incredible photographer but a cherished part of our wedding story. -

Alan and his team captured our day perfectly and exceeded every expectation we had. Going in, photos for us were top priority as you only get one chance to get it right— and Alan got it RIGHT. From our initial meeting to the end of our big day, we had nothing but a great experience. He listened to what our vision was, did that— and then more. He and his team have an eye for detail and a knack for efficiency. The whole day, Tom and I truly felt that we were in good hands. As a bride, taking that worry and stress away is paramount. Not only was the final product great, but the way he and his team interacted with us, our friends, and our families throughout the day was nothing short of perfect. After seeing the final product, I could not choose a photo that I was disappointed in. Our hardest job now is picking our favorites— pretty good problem to have! -

From the start of our wedding planning, Alan made us feel comfortable by helping us plan out our schedule and when to take certain pictures throughout the day. When COVID made us reschedule our wedding, Alan adjusted with ease. On the day of, Alan and his partner, Ben, were AMAZING! They got all the specific shots we had requested, and their natural skill and creativity took care of everything else. When it was time to take pictures with larger groups of people, they coordinated our family and the wedding party in a timely manner and with a great attitude. They always did everything they could to alleviate any stress on us throughout the day. After the wedding, we knew that they had tons of great photos, so we were anxious to get them back. Alan was quick and gave us a sneak peek before sending over all the photos from the day. Alan and Ben captured every special moment from our wedding and they were everything we had hoped for. There were a few minor edits we requested and Alan did them in a timely manner without hesitation. They communicated well, made the process very easy for us, and we had such a fun time working with them! We are so thankful for everything they did and would highly recommend them for capturing your wedding! -

Alan did such an amazing job on our engagement and wedding pictures! No one could have done better! For our engagement photos, we wanted to do a vintage theme, and the pictures turned our surreal! He's incredibly easy to work with and makes everything low stress. He's very responsive and we got our pictures back both times so quickly! You will absolutely not be disappointed with his work. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to your engagement/wedding photography, so go with Alan, because he's the best. -

Alan and his dad were AMAZING! Having a great photographer at our wedding was one of the most important things to me! Pictures (and your spouse lol) are the only things that you will have forever once the wedding is over. Lighter Focus not only gave us incredible pictures, but were a blast to work with! Our wedding photos turned out more beautiful,unique and perfect then we could have ever imagined. They even went the extra mile and drove my husband and I to our photo spot (30 minutes away) after our ceremony to make sure we would get all of our photos taken when our limo transportation had fallen through! I can't recommend these guys enough! -

I don't believe there are enough words to say how thankful we are to Alan. What a kind, thoughtful, energetic, creative, and fun individual to be around. Alan is an incredibly talented photographer who delivers dynamic photos and a memorable experience. I knew from our initial email exchange that Alan would be a great fit for our wedding day (plus engagement photos), and we were not disappointed. I am beyond pleased with the photos Lighter Focus Photography captured at our wedding. They caught every second of our day and made it look just as beautiful in a picture as it felt in the moment. Creative Professional Photographer
Alan was awesome! He really helped the day run smoothly. I was so stressed, but he took a lot of the directing out of my hands. I don't think I noticed him at all during the ceremony or reception except when it was a staged photo. All the photos, portraits and candids, are incredibly beautiful! Seriously so professional and great to work with. My husband and I booked him for his creative style and were not in the least disappointed! -

Spectacular
Wow! He was absolutely amazing. First off, I would like to mention how professional, punctual, and comedic he was. He made taking pictures outside on a good and humid day fun with his comedy and worth the while with his amazing pictures. I received so many conjointly on the pictures with people saying, "That deserves to be on the cover of a magazine" or "those better be hung up on your walls." He superceded my expectations and just know when he says, "I have an idea," some magic is about to go down. Thanks again! -

Incredibly talented
There is no one I would recommend more highly that Alan and Lighter Focus Photography! Alan has been so kind through all of our wedding planning and so helpful. He has so many tips and tricks to make weddings go smoothly. Not to mention he is so great with picture turnaround and makes sure to share plenty of previews!
Our wedding day was the BEST day of our lives and I don't think anyone would have captured it more beautifully. Alan never missed a second so going through our pictures means we get to relive every detail and all the details we missed all over again. Alan is so laid back and his professionalism and attention to detail was so so appreciated. His talent is TOP of the charts. His creativity is so unique and amazing. We get so many compliments on how great our pictures were for both our wedding day and our engagement photos. Don't waste a second in hiring Lighter Focus!!! -
