My partner and I worked really hard to bring together wedding vendors that fit with our intentions for a personal and intimate wedding. Leah was an absolute perfect fit!! Relaxed, friendly, and kind, Leah brought much needed peacefulness to the day and captured beautiful moments that I will cherish forever.
I knew I wanted documentary-style photographer because I didn't want to spend my wedding day shuffling around for the perfect shot. I wanted someone to be a fly on the wall, taking photos that represented the true emotion and energy of the ceremony and celebration. When we met with Leah, she was genuinely interested in getting to know Sam and I as a couple and individually. We felt like we were collaborators, not just clients. When WNC was affected by Helene, Leah was the only vendor we were able to communicate with and so she became our boots-on-the-ground, giving us information and helping us to make the decision to postpone our wedding a year.
364 days later, Leah arrived onsite and immediately brought a calming energy: sweeping through family photos, knowing there was a bit of tension; snapping a quick photo and then flitting away for my partner and I to have some alone time; and deftly navigating the many folks that approached her for group photos during the reception. Our photos were delivered via email on Christmas Eve, perfect timing to peruse through with visiting family. The images were everything I wanted and more. Leah's talent is astounding and I'm so glad that she was part of our day. -

Perfect Garden Wedding
Leah was amazing to have on our wedding day team. We loved getting to know her during our engagement shoot and she was extremely responsive and flexible with our requests. I love that she thinks on her feet in the environment to seek out unique shots. She was incredible to have on our wedding day and was an extremely calm presence while we ran through our photo schedule and was great at wrangling our big family together for group photos! Let's get real. Planning a wedding wreaks a level of chaos in life far greater than I had ever imagined. Throughout the exhaustion of sorting through endless details and budgeting spreadsheets, I can say with confidence that choosing Leah to be our photographer was the easiest decision we made and the only one we never second-guessed. She came with a glowing recommendation from some of our close friends and now we are thrilled to be able to recommend her to others as well. For what it's worth, she actually ended up being the photographer for about 4-5 weddings in our large friend group with truly incredible and memorable results! Leah, was beyond phenomenal and she feels like family. Not only does Leah capture your wedding day, (or other special moments) but she really sees you for who you are. Our photographer Leah Moyers was the first and easiest and best choice we made. We reached out after she photographed a friend’s wedding and the first time we spoke with her we felt SO affirmed and seen. She raised the bar for our other vendors. We joke now that she’s our family photographer because she’ll be on her fourth lesbian wedding in our friend group this December. Everyone loves her. She has an incredible eye, she WORKS to capture every moment, and she makes you feel seen and loved and appreciated and taken care of. We're so happy with our photos — she captured great memories we made that day and lots of things we didn't get to see, too! -

I absolutely recommend Leah Moyers. She is both an amazing person and an amazing photographer. She will go above and beyond and is truly passionate about her work! She shot our wedding day at the Knoxville Botanical Garden, and we have some truly stunning works of art from the day. She takes beautiful shots that really bring in the context and beauty of the surroundings. If there are a lot of people in the room, or on the dance floor, rest assured that her shots will capture everyone perfectly. Truly remarkable candid shots. We had a rain delay on our wedding day, and Leah was the essence of calm. I magically was not stressed and just rolled with it, and I owe it to Leah. She was so positive and hung out with us in the visitor's center waiting room for a bit. The photos from that time are some of my favorite. One of my family members described one shot from the waiting room as a "renaissance painting." Everyone's facial expressions were perfectly captured and composed. Leah delivered the wedding preview to us so quickly, everyone was amazed. The whole gallery was right on time too. We had such a wonderful experience with Leah and you will too! -

I am a Chicago planner that partnered with Leah this past weekend for a beautiful wedding. Leah was absolutely fantastic and extremely talented. Throughout the planning process, Leah was quick at responding to any communication and very flexible. Since she currently lives in Tennessee, Leah came up a few days prior to scout out locations that the couple would like. When the day came, she arrived early and was prepared for anything that came her way. She is flexible and was able to adapt quickly to ensure the couple received the images they wanted. We had the most incredible experience having Leah as our photographer for our wedding (we also had her for our proposal shoot)! Leah is professional, has an amazing vision and ideas, and makes you feel instantly comfortable. We had experience with a few photographers over the course of our engagement and it was no question that we would hire Leah to travel to St. Louis to shoot our wedding day. She is warm and personable and every experience we had with her was so much fun. Then you get the photos back and WOW. I don't write many reviews but Leah deserves this one. My husband and I hired Leah to do a couples session our our trip to the TN Smoky Mountains in October 2020. Emailed her, she responded quickly! Based on other reviews and seeing her photos on other platforms such as her website, Instagram, Facebook, etc., we knew we wanted her to capture our memories in the smokies. You will NOT be disappointed or feel awkward with Leah. She is so much fun and knows what she's doing! She felt like a friend I knew forever! She was patient and flexible as my husband and I had to reschedule twice while we were there. While doing our photos, she even suggested going to an additional location to get some great shots of the creek (at no additional cost for time or travel). She is so very personable, has tons of talent and years under her belt as a professional photographer. Her prices are very fair and she is truly an honest, fun, NORMAL human being. We laughed so much during our shoot and can't wait to see her wonderful work! Thanks again Leah for being so outgoing, personable and patient with us. We will definitely use Leah again when we want beautiful photos when we're back in that neck of the woods!!! -

Leah was simply amazing! I knew I wanted to prospose to my girlfriend while we were on vacation in the smokies, so I knew I had to find a photographer near by. I did a lot of research through Google and Facebook, and that’s when I found Leah! It was really important for me that the photographer me LGBTQ+ friendly since we are a gay couple, and I knew right away when I found Leah that she was perfect! She scoped out the location and even gave me preview images of exactly where to stand, basically any of the details to me things go as smoothly as possible, and even recommendations on what time would be best with lighting and such! The quality of the images we received were amazing and we got them super quickly, as well as some preview images within 24 hours which is nice when you want to announce your new engagement. I would highly recommend Leah to anyone looking for a photographer, she made the experience so easy and pleasant, and my now fiancée didn’t suspect a thing which is exactly how I wanted it to go! :) -

TL;DR: Leah is an exceptionally talented and creative photographer, the value for what you get can’t be beat, she’s super professional and reliable, one of the nicest/coolest humans we have ever met, and she is like human Xanax on your wedding day— invaluable. Plus, you might just end up in a magazine!

My wife and I agree that if we had to play “desert island: wedding edition,” where you could only choose one thing about our wedding to keep, it would HANDS DOWN be Leah. And we had a phenomenal wedding, so that’s saying something.
My wife has a background in journalism and digital media, and I am... discerning, so we looked for a photographer for a while— a lot of nice folks who did good work but we weren’t wowed. And then we discovered Leah. After looking through her work, we had a facetime interview with her, and my now-wife and I were bowled over. She has this warmth and genuine excitement about getting to know you and celebrating your love that can’t be feigned. She got the vision for our wedding immediately, was excited with and for us, and has the ultimate “yes, and” attitude, which makes such a difference when facing the many inherent wedding planning challenges. We loved that she was open and excited about doing an out-of-state wedding— and her pricing was still more reasonable than many (less talented/experienced) folks in our area. In fact, her coming in from out of town made it that much better because all the settings/shots were tailored to us and our wedding (not the standard “this is where we do family shots at this venue”/stock photo kind of thing).
We were working with a limited budget but really wanted to do an engagement shoot, so we worked out a compromise wherein we traveled to TN and she came and met us for the best day.We drove around to an array of locations- some naturally beautiful and some that really demonstrated her exceptional “eye”. Highly recommend doing the engagement shoot if at all possible so you can get to know each other and get comfortable in front of the camera (not that it’s hard with her)! She captured our personalities and our dynamic so perfectly & artfully, and it was just a lot of fun, to boot.
Our wedding day was stressful, as most are, but she kept everyone calm while still being such a quiet presence that it was easy to forget she was there, so she captured so many tender moments. She did her best to help keep us on schedule but, through no fault of hers, we were running late so we had to switch up our plan for some shots, but she always made it work and kept us from feeling any stress about it. We got all the shots we wanted and then, more importantly, all of those that we hadn’t known we needed but are our favorites. She captured all of the joy, emotion and fun throughout our wedding day, and we couldn’t be more grateful because, considering all of the moving parts, it was no easy task! Everyone gushed over the photos and we gave her name a friend who ultimately hired her, which was no surprise.
The value for the quality of the final product you get from Leah is incredible— we received both prints and soft copies of an insane number of perfectly shot and edited photos, and we loved that she turned around a teaser of some of the best in a mind-bogglingly fast 24 hrs, which we really appreciated having in the come-down from the wedding.
The icing on the cake was that she submitted our photos to a number of publications/outlets, and our engagement shoot/story was featured on a number of blogs, as was our wedding, and our wedding was featured in print in Washingtonian Weddings magazine— a huge honor — all because of Leah’s eye!
Leah is the perfect mix of professional and personal— always responsive, sticks to deadlines, warm and personable, delivers above and beyond what she’s been contracted to do, and is the kind of person everyone should be lucky enough to have around on one of the most important days of their lives! Clearly we are big fans, and know anyone who decides to work with her will be, too. -

You Can Stop Looking
If you are looking for a photographer for your big day, you don't need to look any further than Leah. Whatever expectations I had were completely surpassed when Leah accompanied us on a several hours-long trek into the Smoky Mountains in the early morning where she climbed boulders and did everything she had to do to capture my surprise proposal. We didn't hesitate to ask Leah to be there for our wedding as well, and we couldn't be happier for the way she made the pictures of our day (with 5 people during a pandemic) as special as she did. Choosing Leah as your photographer will be the easiest choice you'll make during your search for wedding vendors. I cannot recommend her highly enough. -

Over-exceeded our expectations
We were an out of state couple heading to the Smoky Mountains, TN for our destination wedding and Leah was absolutely incredible to work with.
She wanted to learn about us and what we wanted for our wedding day, giving us options but also taking suggestions we wanted. She keeps her social media updated so we could see all of her work - making an out-of-state bride feel very confident in the photographer we selected!
Once we met her (the day of our wedding), it was like we've known her for a long time - Leah is very down to earth and everyone attending the wedding was extremely impressed with her. She made us feel 100% comfortable in front of the camera and it was a very organic experience, not posed.
We received our photos and cried tears of joy several times as we were able to re-live our wedding day. Leah captured moments that I could only dream of her capturing - this was one of the many reasons why we selected her and we were blown away with the results. Leah was incredible to work with and we could not have asked for a better experience! -

Leah Moyers Photography captured EVERYTHING we asked for & more!
We are beyond pleased with our experience with Leah and her images are absolutely beautiful!!! She was able to capture all the moments we found most important. She even took the time to drive us to a couple of off-sites locations, snapped some amazing photos of rambunctious flower girls, and wow the candid shots of guests dancing are just perfect! We loved everything Leah did for us. Take this from a bride who does not like taking pictures...you will not be disappointed!! -

Can't say enough nice things about her!
We loved working with Leah! We planned an elopement in the Smoky Mountains, just the two of us, and Leah was so helpful with suggestions for location, times, and things to do since we had never been to Gatlinburg. I can honestly say I don't think we would have had as much fun without her! We would have never thought to go moonshine tasting and having fun around the city, but it was her idea and it made for such a memorable day. Not to mention how pretty our pictures turned out! So much fun, and she was such a sweet person to work with. We hate getting our pictures taken and she turned something we were nervous about into an enjoyable experience we will never forget. And we got preview pictures super quick! -

Leah is a true artist!
Leah is the type of super friendly outgoing person you will want to be best friends with. As soon as I messaged with her I knew I wanted to book her for our engagement photos. I booked base almost entirely on her upbeat personality. I had barely looked at her work before hand but once I did I was blown away. I spent the next few days drooling over her site and by the time I met her I felt like I was meeting a rockstar. (Her site is that good!)
And once we got the preview photos (nearly immediately) we were very happy and couldn’t wait to see the rest.
She’s an extremely talented professional. Leah knows how to shoot your best angles and how to use the light to take the most beautiful photos.
Leah is a true artist and it was such a pleasure to work with her to capture this moment in our lives.
The only issue you’ll have is deciding which photos you want to print. I’m already looking for excuses to book another session. -

There are many things to consider with vendors - experience, quality, dependability, style, personality, budget, etc. While researching photographers, my husband and I interviewed a handful of professionals. There were some whose work we liked, but we did not feel a connection with them and we weren’t sure if we could put the memories of our big day in their hands. Then one day, we got a recommendation for Leah Moyers. By looking at Leah’s blog and instagram, we really liked her down to earth style, attention to detail, and the vibrancy/liveliness in her work. So we reached out. From the start, Leah was incredibly caring and genuine! During our first Skype call, we had a conversation that felt like talking to someone who was really here for us. Not only did Leah answer our questions, she anticipated things we hadn’t thought of and gave us great information and really helped us get prepared. The other thing - my husband and I are not camera lovers, and we were a bit anxious about being awkward in front of the lens. Luckily, during the engagement shoot, Leah made us feel super comfortable, we shared many laughs and truly had fun. The day felt like a big adventure as we explored Chicago on a beautiful spring day. Between the engagement shoot and the wedding day, Leah was consistently responsive and available to answer questions via email and phone. By the day of the wedding, we were 1000% sure that we had made the perfect choice by hiring Leah. It was an incredible day and Leah really captured the magic moments from the morning preparations until the last song. The photos show not only the outward beauty and important moments, but also personalities of our friends and family. The photos really are full of life and every time we look at them, we are transported back in time - we see and hear the laughter, the conversations, the vows, the music.
Our wedding day will always be unforgettable because we had Leah as our photographer! -

After speaking with her by phone, I knew she was the photographer we wanted and needed. She is so personable and willing to accommodate your wishes. After our call, we filled out a detailed form which proved very helpful in making sure we got every shot we desired at my daughter's destination wedding in the mountains of Tennessee. Ryan Sent on 03/12/2017We can't say enough positive praise about Leah. From the first phone call through the first in person meeting, Leah was prepared and you could tell she was very experienced. During the planning stages, she made us feel comfortable and gave us guidance, while at the same time allowing us to communicate what we envisioned. Leading up the the wedding, Leah stayed in contact with us and was always there whenever we had any questions. On the wedding day, Leah did a great job of not only providing the artistic direction, but also helped to keep to our timeline which allowed us to get all the shots we wanted. Leah scouted the location (even though she wasn't from the city we got married in) and already knew all the best spots ahead of time which was a huge help. She also provided us a second photog which turned out to to be extremely skilled and as professional and polite as Leah.
Needless to say, when we got the final product of images we were, yet again, impressed with the quality, quantity and look of all the shots. Without a quality end product none of the above would matter and we were very happy with what we received. Leah also went the extra mile and mailed us a cool package with some special prints, a USB key of the digital images and nice little note.
We would recommend Leah to others looking for a photog as she was great to work with, provided valuable insight/experience and delivered an excellent end product.

Sarah Sent on 07/21/2015When my husband Bradley and I decided to elope and go with a simple and alternative wedding day, I told him all I wanted was a fantastic photographer. Someone flexible, someone candid, someone creative and artistic. Leah was EXACTLY what we were looking for.
When I first contacted Leah and told her about our ideas (eloping in the mountains of East TN, having a picnic of champagne and cupcakes, and wrapping up the day at Dollywood), she was so enthusiastic! She got us perfectly — a little kitchy, a little cheesy, and a lot of fun. She was so easy to communicate with right off the bat, and I felt as though I had known her forever.
If you’re looking for someone who takes her craft seriously, but has so much fun with it, I can’t recommend Leah highly enough. She put us completely at ease, kept us laughing and smiling, and even drove us from one location to the next! She had fantastic ideas, and made us look incredible. More importantly, she went to Dollywood with us and documented our whole day, from getting hitched by a stream, to a ride on a carousel, to a funnel wedding cake to end the night. She captured our spirit, and our simple love. We knew it would take a special person to elope right along with us, and she was our perfect companion on such an wonderful day.
Bradley and I could not be happier with the finished product. The photos are simply spectacular, with the perfect balance of candid shots, naturally posed portraits, and gorgeous artistic photos. She is an artist, and created for us some of the most beautiful mementos we could have asked for. My expectations were high, and she exceeded them in every way.
We did it our way, and Leah captured it, and us, beautifully.
