An Artist!
I can't even begin to describe how special and amazing our cake was! Su is the epitome of an artist. She works in her own way, so let her take the reins and you will be so happy with the end result. Not only was our wedding cake delicious, it was just stunning. Everyone was so impressed! -

The BEST cake lady around!
We used Sue for our wedding on 10/6/18. I would highly recommend her for any occasion! We had our regular wedding cake and a special grooms cake! They were both a huge hit, and the BEST tasting cake I have ever had.
You can tell she is a cake expert and has been doing this for years. She covered all of the bases. -

Central Ohio is so fortunate to have le Gateau!!
I enthusiastically recommend le Gateau and Susan Larson! Post wedding reflection has made me realize that there are vendors who will offer their services as expected. But there are those other vendors who not only offer what is expected but go above and beyond and actually make a contribution that hit it out of the park! Sue was wonderful to work with and not only provided the most delicious bridal cake, she worked with us to offer our guests unique Australian desserts from the groom's home country. Her grooms cake was such a fun and delicious way to celebrate at the farewell brunch the following day. Sue's passion for her work was such a pleasure! She seemed to not only enjoy her work but enjoyed finding a way to make our daughter's wedding day personalized and special. And did I mention delicious? Her professionalism was so welcome especially when dealing with some bridal vendors that leave you wondering just what you might find at the reception. I just can't recommend Le Gateau strongly enough! We will definitely be calling Sue for any of our cake or dessert needs in the future! -

Our cake was such a beautiful highlight of our wedding. High quality, delicious food is a huge priority of ours, so hiring Sue was a no-brainer. Her experience was apparent, as guests raved at how incredible the cake tasted. Sue also invites potential couples to her lovely bakery studio to sample cake, and the booking process was easy and efficient. -

Sue Larson with Le Gateau was our favorite vendor for the wedding. We have already recommended Sue to all of our friends planning weddings in Ohio and we cannot wait to have her cake again at their weddings!
From the cake tasting experience to our wedding night, we had a great time selecting designs/flavors and eating delicious cake! We have been to a few weddings and have never enjoyed a wedding cake as much as we enjoyed Sue’s. We had a 3 tier round cake with different flavors for each level including Italian cream with fresh raspberry and chocolate with fresh raspberry. Both with wild berry buttercream icing. The flavors were amazing and did not taste ridiculously sweet as we've come to know American cakes to be. Sue was not only able to accommodate our requests but she also provided us with expert advice regarding the design and flavor pairings. In addition, we planned the wedding from out of town, and Sue was able to accommodate our tastings to include one tasting for us (bride & groom) during a short trip into town and later schedule a separate tasting for our parents.
Sue was prompt to respond to any calls and answered all the questions that we had throughout the entire wedding cake selection process. On the day of the wedding, the cake arrived on time and it looked great. The taste was out of this world. The flavors were natural with no artificial tastes. Truly, the fresh raspberries brought everything together. We had many guests come up to us after the wedding to compliment the cake and ask who was the mastermind behind it.
Our caterer did not leave us the anniversary cake (the top tier of the wedding cake) and as soon as Sue heard about this, she immediately offered to give us a small replacement so that we can enjoy cake for our first year anniversary. We are very thankful that Sue was able to be part of our big day and we highly recommend her for all your cake needs!

Sue Larsen is a one-of-a-kind lady. We really enjoyed going out to her shop to taste cake and look at our options. My husband is in sales and he was immediately sold on Sue when she told us that she had once turned down a customer who wanted a gluten-free cake because that's not what she does best and she only wants to produce the best product. She is constantly honing her craft. As of our first meeting with her, she was the only cake baker in Columbus who was doing beautiful pulled sugar ribbons that perfectly emulated the tulle of my wedding dress. She was also about to leave town for a week to go to a conference where she was planning to learn a few new skills.
Aside from being the best in the business, the other things that set Sue and Le Gateau apart are her artistry and the fact that she will do different flavors of cake in each layer without additional charge. I shared with her pictures of my wedding dress and veil and her interpretation was absolutely stunning. She prepared 3 options in different price ranges for us to chose from. Our cake was featured prominently on entering the reception and it did not disappoint. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the cake was during dinner, but once it was cut and served, all anyone could talk about was how good it tasted. There was very little cake left when all was said and done and we savored the last few pieces. I will probably need to invest in a lock for the freezer to ensure that the anniversary cake doesn't disappear. -

Sue Larson was so great when we went to her bakery for a cake tasting. She was very knowledgable and easy to talk with. She has beautiful cakes and it seems like she can do anything as far as decorating goes. I can't wait to see what she does with our cake. The favors were also amazing and she uses fresh fruit instead of fruit fillings. Her prices are very reasonable as well. -

We absolutely loved our wedding cake and had a great experience with Sue Larson. Our wedding cake was everything we were hoping for and more! Sue took our vision and designed an absolutely stunning cake. AND to top it off, it was delicious! My favorite layer was the white chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries. Highly recommend! -

I decided to book Sue to make our cake after our tasting. I was heavily considering another vendor, but when I tasted her cakes and found how reasonable her pricing was, I was sold. She is truly an artist and made the most amazing sugar flowers for our cake, which we saved and plan on displaying they are so beautiful and intricate. Our cake had three different flavors and fillings all for the same fixed price so I felt like there were no hidden fee’s with Sue without the sacrifice of quality. She also was more than accommodating to add in a surprise fondant grooms cake as a surprise for my husband within the last month. Sometimes she can be slow responding through email, so I would suggest calling. She really puts her soul into each cake she makes, I feel very lucky she made mine! Our guests raved at the cake and how delicious it was. Thank you Le Gateau for making my cake as beautiful on the inside as the outside. -

I'm not usually the biggest cake fan, but after Le Gateau/Sue Larson made our wedding cake, my life was forever changed! It was one of the greatest deserts I've ever tried in my life, and I now order her cakes for every birthday! I can't get enough! The service is impeccable and the quality is top notch. I wanted something different. No boring white wedding cake. I gave Sue a few ideas that i had, and some color schemes and what she created on our special day was something i never could have imagined. It was the most awesome wedding cake of all time. Throughout the entire process, Sue was professional and very considerate in meeting the exact vision we had for our wedding cake. When people think of a cake, it can be the most beautiful cake and taste horrible, but Le Gateau's six tier cake exceeded our expectations on presentation and taste. She's the complete package and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a one of a kind cake which tastes amazing and will be talked about for weeks following your event. -

Sue Larson is THE lady to create your wedding cake. My wedding cake not only tasted amazing, it was hands down the most beautiful and fanciest wedding cake I have ever seen. Sue is a true artist. Sue Larson at Le Gateau did a wedding cake and grooms cake for me. Both were spectacular in every way - far exceeding my expectations! Our wedding was at the Columbus Museum of Art, and the room featured a giant glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly, and we wanted matching blown glass pieces on our cake - edible and made of sugar. Our wedding planner recommended Sue - the sugar glass guru - and we are so glad she did! The cake was BEAUTIFUL - a real piece of art! The sugar glass sculptures on the piece were identical to the Chihuly, and nobody could believe they were edible! I was so impressed by the work she did for the Pittsburgh Steelers that I had her do a groomscake representing my husband's favorite sports teams as well. I don't eat much cake, but I do know that fondant tastes nasty... but not Sue's! Her fondant is made of white chocolate and is to die for! We did a chocolate ganashe and fresh raspberry filling on the wedding cake and everyone at the wedding said it was the best cake they had ever tasted. I cannot recommend Le Gateau enough! -

I cannot say enough about Sue from le Gateau. She was wonderful to work with from the cake tasting. She was very accomodating and made the process so easy. It was so fun to sit down with her and tell her what kind of cake we were looking for and then she 'sketched' it out for us. We loved our cake!! And the best part you did not feel like you were eating the typical wedding cake. Her cakes are delicious. She also made our favors for us, which were her FABULOUS macaroons. We have had nothing but wonderful comments from our guests pertaining to the cake and the macaroon. We are looking forward to Sue making our one year annivesary cake. Why do a frozen one when we can have her make us a fresh one. -

I have heard amazing things about le Gateau for a few years and couldn't wait to call and meet Susan. We really did our research when deciding on the wedding cake and it certainly was worth it! Our cake was just beautiful and delicious. Everyone said it was the best cake they ever ate! Sue was wonderful to work with and created an absolutely gorgeous cake! I needed a gluten free cake and finding one that tasted good was proving difficult. When I tasted Sue's gluten free cake both my (non-gluten free) fiancee and I were sold. It was delicious and her artistic skill is amazing. She gave us exactly what we wanted and no one at the wedding could even tell that the cake was gluten free! -

The cake at our wedding at The Ohio Statehouse in August 2015 certainly lived up to the grandeur of the venue and was stunning. And yummy!! -

Sue Larson of le Gateau made the wedding cake for my 09-14-13 wedding. While we sampled about a half-dozen different bakers either on our own or through bridal shows, we went with Sue. Her cakes were absolutely delicious and her decorating skills stunning. She is also the only person in town who made pulled sugar ribbons and flowers. We went with a flower on our cake that looked like it was made of hand-made glass from a hot-shop.
She was also willing to make a non-traditional, non-tiered wedding cake from a picture I had from a 1952 Louisville Courier Journal article my grandmother had saved for my mother when my mother was 3 years old. My mother never had the cake made and it was something I had seen all of my life. It was the only thing I knew I wanted for my wedding day if I ever married. After being told by other bakers it couldn't be done to the scale I wanted and after much discussion with Sue, Sue made it happen. It was exactly what I wanted in scale. I left the decorating mostly up to her other than asking for the sugar flower in colors used in my wedding party. She decorated the sides in an art-deco pattern from my engagement/wedding ring and she decorated the top to look like the lace on my wedding dress.
Besides being extremely happy with my cake visually, the two cake flavors she made were wonderful. All of my guests talked about how good they were. She made both an orange pound cake with a chocolate ganache filling and a lemon pound cake with fresh raspberry filling. For anyone reading this thinking of a heavy pound cake, these weren't. They were the lightest (not dense and dry) pound cakes I've ever had and were sumptuously rich. The leftovers even tasted good a week afterwards.
While this is not the least expensive cake in town (nor is it the most expensive), I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better cake. There may be many who can decorate a cake but Sue is a superb baker in addition to being an exceptional designer. -

Sue's cakes are absolutely amazing!!!!! They are so beautiful and also incredibly delicious! Many of our guests continue to comment on our wedding cake! It is obvious that Sue only uses the best ingredients and takes pride in her creations! I would love to have Le Gateau cakes at all of my events! My mouth still waters thinking about her scrumptious cakes.... :) -

Sue at le Gateau is wonderful. Her cakes are the most delicious I have ever tasted, hands down. She was helpful when it came to designing our cake and we were most pleased with the outcome. I plan on having her make a first anniversary cake for us, since we decided not to save the top of our wedding cake so we could eat the left overs! Yummy! -

My husband and I are huge dessert people, so for our wedding cake we were on the hunt for the best tasting (as well as beautiful) wedding cake in Columbus. We found exactly what we were looking for at Le Gateau. These cakes are literally the best I have ever tasted. She uses fresh strawberries or raspberries rather than jam and completely customizes the cake design to be exactly what you want! We will definitely be using Le Gateau for any cakes we need in the future!! -

Sue at le Gateau made our wedding cake - loved it! First off, we fell in love with her cake when we sampled it at a cake tasting with her. The texture and flavor of the cake was insanely good. We did the Italian Cream flavor with raspberry filling - YUM. Sue created our cake from an idea that we gave her and it was lovely! It was modeled to look like my gown - and we got many comments on how cool it looked. I would recommend her - she is definitely an artist. -

Sue is amazing! So easy to work with, and a great artist as well, so the cakes are all so unique! We had our initial design, but she worked with us (quite last-minute) so we stayed in budget and still had a gorgeous cake. Did I mention the quality? We not only wanted a beautiful cake, but it HAD to taste great. She totally delivered! The chocolate was amazing, the vanilla was moist and ganache perfect. Buttercream frosting was light- not thick or too sweet. Our guests raved about the cake! Highly recommend! -

Le Gateau's cakes look and taste amazing. The color on our cake was not the right color but it still looked great! Sue is slow at responding to e-mails and doesn't always answer all the questions i had, but I would still recommending using her. When my husband and I went for tasting at a couple of bakers, Sue's were the only ones that look great and tasted great! -

We spent $40 to purchase a seven-inch size multi-layered cake to see if we liked it enough for our wedding, and which we shared with family members, but when we contacted Sue less than two weeks later she replied she was no longer available on the day of our wedding. She did not apologize and did not offer to refund our $40. She was well aware of why we bought the $40 cake, and even had penciled our wedding date in her calendar. Yet she dumped us unceremoniously and apparently without regret. Her cakes are delicious, but her service is terrible. -

Cancelled Tasting without Giving Notice
My Fiancé and I were very excited to book a Tasting with Sue at her bakery. However, I never received a confirmation call or email or message up until the day of the tasting. I tried to call before we made the 50 minute drive with my aunts to her home, but there was no answer. We showed up and there was no answer at the door or information. I tried calling her again and she did not answer, so i left messages. Sue called me 10 minutes later saying that she had cancelled her tastings for the day. I received no call, email or message from her. The encounter left a bad taste in our mouths and we could not get past it to trust her with our business. we were very disappointed. -
