Professional People & Perfect Photos!

We had the pleasure of working with Laura for both our engagement photos in Chicago and our wedding photos in Columbus, OH. She met with us multiple times before the days of our events to make sure she properly captured the type and quantities of photos we desired, and she 100% delivered on everything that we were hoping for.
During the engagement photos, she made us extremely relaxed and excited for our photo shoot, and we seamlessly traveled to multiple indoor and outdoor locations across a very loud and busy downtown Chicago.
On the day of our wedding, we joke that Laura felt like another bridesmaid while still doing an exceptional job throughout the day. As multiple small stresses and social curveballs were thrown her way (e.g., party members getting ready, family logistics, etc.), she was amazingly professional and personable with bridesmaids, family members, and other vendors.
Most importantly, all of our photos from both events turned out PERFECTLY. Her style of no crazy filters or complex poses beautifully and, most importantly, genuinely captured our big day. We continue to go back to both our digital and printed photos frequently to relive these memories that Laura and her team honored in the best way. We highly recommend her as your photographer!

Laura is AMAZING! Such a boss lady!

Laura was absolutely amazing and I would 100% recommend her to anyone who wants photos that look elegant, clean and timeless. On the day of our wedding, Laura made sure to capture all of the important shots without asking us to pose a million different ways or walk miles into scenic backdrops - our photo time got shortened by a brief rain shower, so we had to change our photo locations at the last second and Laura was unbelievably adaptable and professional. We LOVE the way our photos turned out and will cherish them for years and years to come. They are truly timeless - no crazy filters or weird angles, just gorgeous shots that captured US!

From the first time I met Laura I knew she would be the photographer at my wedding! We met with her at her studio where she took her time to run through the process, show us examples of photos and really discuss what she offers to her clients. About a month before my wedding, she reached back out to us to get detailed information about the day, learn the names of our family and wedding party, and ask us if she could help in any other way. It was just amazing - it made me feel like she was a part of our day.
On the day of the wedding, her and Naomi showed up early and started taking pictures. We wanted to do a first look and family pictures before the ceremony and she helped us to keep on time and keep calm.
I just received my photos back and they turned out amazing...i am so happy with the photos i knew she took but then I saw all these great photos of my guests and candid ones of people dancing.
I highly recommend her as a photographer, you can't go wrong having her photograph your big day!

Working with Laura on our daughter's wedding was one of the most gratifying experiences we had. She is exceptionally talented, professional, kind and wonderful to work with. Laura (and her assistant photographer Colleen) did such an AMAZING job with photography for our wedding. We honestly could not be happier with the experience we had, and the quality of the end product!!

Laura was super responsive right from the start when I emailed her to see if she would be open to taking on an out-of-town wedding in Green Bay, Wisconsin during a peak summer weekend. It was a longshot, but I was familiar with her work from when I lived in Chicago and she did professional headshots for me (which people always compliment me on!) so figured I would reach out.

We did not do an engagement shoot prior to the wedding, but both Laura and Colleen were so fantastic at getting to know us, our bridal party, and family that it didn't present a problem at all on the big day. They did a great job at getting all the photos we wanted, but we still had a lot of fun especially doing bridal party photos between the ceremony and reception.

Here are some of my favorites - cannot recommend Laura enough. Have known lots of brides that are very "meh" about their wedding pictures once they get them back, and we are so happy to have had the opposite reaction and to have so many wonderful memories of our wedding day captured beautifully by Laura!!

We loved having Laura as our photographer for both our wedding & our engagement photos. We did not want to have to constantly "pose" for pictures throughout the wedding day & were looking for someone who was able to capture real moments & take natural shots. Laura was an incredible photographer to work with for our wedding. From the moment we meet her we knew she would be amazing. She really listened to what WE wanted and also helped to guide us in creative ideas and places for both our Engagement and Wedding Photos. All of her responses were timely and professional. The second shot she brought for the wedding was great as well. When it came to the “Day of” she was early and incredibly helpful to keep everyone on schedule. She was also really great at dealing with big groups of people and getting everyone together for a shot. This came in incredibly helpful when we took extended family photos after the wedding and for our bridal party shots.

Our photos turned out better than I could have ever hoped. She not only got beautiful shots of all the people who shared our wedding day with us, she got all of the little details too! The variety of photos we received really helped to encapsulate our day and tell our story. From the shots of the necklace I wore from my godfather, to us exchanging vows, to everyone celebrating with us on the dance floor, nothing was missed. Not only were the photos beautiful but we also received them in a timely manner which so many of my recently married friends were jealous of!

Laura truly went above and beyond more than I think I could ever express in an online review. One of the most amazing things she did for me was to commemorate my grandfather as a part of our wedding day. My grandpa fell very ill shortly before my wedding and about a week out we knew he would be unable to attend the ceremony. Knowing how important my grandfather was, she helped to arrange for us to visit him in between the ceremony and the reception and took pictures of the moments we shared. She handled a delicate situation flawlessly, helping to coordinate with us and our vendors to ensure this could happen. I will cherish these photos forever as they were my last moments with him.

Laura shot our NYE wedding in downtown Chicago and exceeded our expectations in every way possible. I reached out to 50+ photographers and interviewed 15 (yes, photography was the one thing I went a little crazy on). After all my research, Laura was the clear pick. She was professional, but laid back and personable, which helped make my husband and I feel much more at ease and shone through in our photos. I received so many compliments from our families and guests about their great interactions with Laura and about our BEAUTIFUL photos. She captured every important moment without causing distraction.

Laura and Mike were absolutely PERFECT for our wedding! We had an emergency with our previous photographer booked a few weeks before our wedding and Laura was referred to us from a friend. Immediately after speaking with her over the phone my husband and I fell in love with all she had to offer, we knew it was a perfect fit. Laura is fun to work with, vibrant, very familiar with all of the perfect shots to capture, a great listener and very professional. Laura is amazing!! Two close friends used her for their weddings as well, so I knew the quality was great, but she is wonderful to work with!! From our first meeting, we knew she was the best choice. You can tell she knows what's she's doing and is able to keep things calm at an otherwise, hectic time. Our engagement pictures are awesome but our weding pictures are better than I could have hoped for! I was referred to Laura through a friend of mine and once I met her, I stopped my search immediately.

Laura and her team were incredible to work with! I was planning our wedding from out-of-town and had multiple phone calls with Laura before the wedding. She even took time out of her weekend to meet me for coffee when I was in town. She had great insights into how to structure the day and I was so comfortable leaving some details up to her, since she was the professional! The day went perfectly and, despite very blustery weather, Laura was calm, cool and collected as we braved the outdoors for some shots! Her photos of our reception and, most importantly, the dance party are fantastic.

Laura was particularly sensitive about family dynamics and made notes about our families and friends so that on the day of, group photos were smooth and seamless. Thank you Laura!

Laura is amazing to work with! My husband and I do not have one complaint! Laura was early the day of our wedding, she helped stage our first look pictures and she got great shots at the wedding. Laura is by far the best there is. Laura has done a bunch of my friend's weddings so when I got engaged, it was a no brainer. To start her photos are beautiful and she captured moments on my wedding day I would never have seen if she wasn't there. She was easy to get in touch with, flexible when it cam to scheduling, made everyone feel comfortable posing for pictures, and was really invested in our day and knowing what pictures we wanted. Laura and her assistant, Breane, were a dynamic duo at my wedding. They were flexible and responsive to what I was looking for in my wedding pictures. Laura Witherow photographed our wedding in Chicago last month and we could not have asked for a better experience. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and we were thrilled with her services, so much that I am writing this review off of the blog/preview photos we have received. I am confident the final drive of photos will be as exciting/beautiful as the initial preview selects.

Throughout the entire planning process, Laura was extremely easy to work with and very responsive. Her easy going personality made us feel very comfortable being photographed. It felt like we had known Laura for years as we paraded around town to document our big day.

I think it is very easy to get caught up in the mayhem/excitement/stress of planning a 200 person wedding, but by hiring Laura we did not spend a minute of our time worrying about the photography. Her vast experience and creative vision spoke for themselves and she was one step ahead of us the entire way.

From start to finish Laura was not only professional to work with but made the experience fun. She worked with me on what shots were must haves and gave wonderful recommendations along the way. She not only spent hours talking to me on the phone but also went with me to check out my venue in advance of my wedding. The photographs that we received were unbelievable. Laura is truly gifted! I am so excited about the photos of our wedding and I've only seen the sneak peek. When we first started this journey, we were really nervous about going with a larger photographer group, like most of our friends have done and not really knowing who was going to show up to do our photos. We immediately knew we needed the personal touch from an individual photographer. After meeting with several photographers, we met Laura and it was a breath of fresh air! She was very warm and open and really let us decide a lot on what direction we wanted. We drastically underestimated what this would cost, but based on what Laura was providing for the price, we felt that we were in great hands! Our engagement pictures went really well, even if it was freezing outside and we were nervous about how to be in front of the camera. Laura was helpful in directing us somewhat to put us at ease. She even came up with some awesome locations that we originally didnt think of. Going into our wedding day, I was very calm being in front of the camera since we knew Laura and knew what to expect. She showed up perfectly on time, which helped me not worry at all on our big day! Her assistant was very nice and helpful and they both tried to stay out of the way as I was getting ready. If i wanted a picture taken, they would accommodate perfectly! Everything went really well with our photos throughout the day! We were so happy with how they all turned out and had so many different options to choose from for prints. Instead of 10 of the same family, we had 2-3 and then different poses and places so there was a huge variety! Laura is extremely professional and open to anything. I couldn't say one thing I'd do different and I'm a very picky person! Thanks Laura!

Laura is super laid-back and easy to work with. My husband and I had her take both our engagement pictures and wedding pictures. Not only did the pictures turn out beautifully, but we felt very comfortable with Laura. She helped us feel relaxed so that we look very natural in our pictures! She got amazing candid shots at our wedding; there are so many beautiful pictures that it is hard to choose which ones we'd like in our album! Another thing I really appreciated about Laura was how willing she was to work with my budget. I was trying to be extremely careful with my money for the wedding, and had a set number to work with for photography. She was extremely accommodating. We feel like having Laura as our photographer was SUCH a gift and we will have the stunning pictures that she took to forever remember our wedding. I HIGHLY recommend Laura! Book her!

My husband and I were/are OBSESSED with Laura. Our engagement and wedding photos turned out amazing - both sets of photos were taken months and months ago but the compliments never stop coming. Laura's ability to capture your most treasured moments is uncanny, and her photographs will take your breath your away (my sister actually cried going through our wedding album). I cannot speak more highly of her. Her pricing is ridiculous considering her attention to detail, her skill, and her work product. I recommend her to anyone and everyone - having her there on our special day made it that much more special. She should be every bride and groom's top pick.

Laura was an amazing wedding photographer! I first saw Laura's work after she was the photographer at a friend's wedding. I absolutely loved the photos that she captured. Laura! Laura! Laura! Where do i begin? I have worked with many wedding professionals over the years and I can honestly say I have never met someone so professional yet so much fun to work with. Best choice I made for my wedding. Her photography is beyond AMAZING!!! She makes you so comfortable. Laura was extremely professional and very easy to work with. She smiled the entire time she took our photos and that makes it easy to smile back. She put us at ease when directing us for photo opps, but also stayed in the background on the day of the wedding. We hardly even knew she was there! She was prompt to post some photos on her blog, so we were able to get a sneak peak of our wedding day. Overall, we are extremely happy with the photos and have been receiving compliments on how beautiful the photos were. The pictures are more beautiful than I imagined they could be. My father said "hiring her was one of the best things we did at your wedding." I will make sure my friends and family use her for future events!

I had high expectations for my wedding photography. We did not take any engagement photos and I wanted the wedding photos to be perfect because in my mind they would be all I have to remember the day by. Laura immediately put me at ease, she saw my vision and answered all of my questions even though it is all second nature for her. On the wedding day, she was extremely professional and started taking the pictures I wanted once she walked in the door. The second photographer she brought was just as professional and nice as Laura. They worked very well together and were fun to be around. We had a large bridal party and we had many locations to take pictures at, they handled everyone perfectly and we got so many beautiful pictures. I would not change a thing.

Laura is a remarkable photographer, very creative with unique shots, and a wonderful person to work with. I highly recommend asking Laura to shoot your wedding. I felt she was reasonably priced too (vs. other options, but especially given the shots she produced)

Laura was AWESOME!!! We knew Laura was for us when we were laughing throughout our interview and when she mentioned that she loves a great dance party. We were able to work out a package that worked for us - we preferred a larger album over an engagement session - and Laura was happy to create a package we are really happy with. We interviewed a number of photographers and Laura's prices were really reasonable, ESPECIALLY considering that she offers a second photographer! On our wedding day, Laura was right on time, went ahead and took all the photos (rings, dress, etc) while I was busy getting ready... at no point did I feel she was in the way, needed my attention, anything. We chose to do our photos before our ceremony and Laura and her second photographer, Kathy, were laughing and playful - we had a blast with them, and it came out in our photos. We have only seen a few so far (we were married less than two weeks ago) and they are GORGEOUS. We can't wait to see the rest!!! Laura is GGREEAATT - we can't recommend her highly enough!! THANK YOU LAURA!!!!

I can't put into words how satisfied and happy that I am that I picked Laura Witherow to be my photographer. She is just absolutely amazing! And besides that, she is just a down to earth person who is pleasant and fun to be around. Her photography is a wonderful gift. She did our engagement pictures and our wedding. I've never seen myself look the way that I looked in these photos. Absolutely amazing!

She really captured us. She has an amazing way of capturing the moment and the essence of the moment. I can look at those pictures and know exactly what was on my mind and my husband's mind. I will cherish them for the rest of my life. We were blessed with really good vendors. But if someone made me get rid of all of them and only keep one, I would have kept Laura, hands down.

I can't say enough great things about Laura Witherow photography. It was a worry-free experience and I am still getting compliments on my photos.

She does a fantastic job of capturing all the moments a bride wants on film but without being noticable. If I planned my wedding all over again, she would definitely be one vendor I would re-book without hesitation.

Laura Witherow is amazing! Not only is she friendly, funny, easy-to-get-along-with and flexible, but she is also a fantastically talented photographer! We, and our guests, are sooooooo happy with the job she and her creative, imaginative assistant did in capturing the best day of our lives (so far..;)). She did traditional family, attendant, and couple portrait shots as well as creative, funky, artistic shots. Just what we wanted! She listened to what we wanted and successfully catered to our every wish. She was very much worth the reasonable price. And she's cool!!! I also hired Laura for a photoshoot to create my gift to my husband -- clearly, I love her work. And I would recommend her to anyone out there who's looking for a personable photographer who will catch every detail and essence of your event.

We searched for a lot of photographers, and Laura was the only one we found that everyone (including myself, my husband, and my parents) loved the photos she took, that we enjoyed meeting in person, and she fit into our budget. Laura's level of service went above and beyond what I ever could have imagined. From the beginning she was very easy to work with and understood what we wanted from our wedding photos. On the day of the wedding Laura, and her assistant Kathy (who was also amazing) were both there for every shot and worked with our ideas for photos we wanted to take and came up with new ones as well (in addition to the long list of photos we had created with her beforehand).

Even when things got very complicated on the day of the wedding because of rain and traffic, she kept her cool and worked with us to find other photo options. Since city photos were so important to us, she even found a way for us to get out in the middle of Michigan Avenue, in traffic in the rain! and get a few great shots of us under an umbrella while somehow protecting her equipment from the rain. At the reception we ran out of time for all the shots we wanted, but still she managed to get almost all of them in and worked at adjusting the time schedule to make them all happen. Plus, she even made sure I got all the pictures with my other friends and family I wanted when the rain let up even when I had given up that those pictures would happen.

She was even more amazing after the wedding, since she offered to take some pictures of my husband and me on a sunny day so we could get some of the pictures we missed. A week after the wedding we got all dressed up again and had an amazing day taking pictures together. Not only was it above and beyond for her to do this with us, it was such a special day for my husband and me to be all in our wedding clothes again but without any of the stress and time limits. We got all the pictures we missed before on top of having a really special day. Her service didn't just end there, when we needed a few of the pictures rushed and in hand before they were all processed, she got them to us quickly. She even was kind enough to enlarge a special photo of family members that passed away shortly after the wedding for a memorial. She did not have to help us with any of those things and I'm sure many photographers out there would have just ignored those requests or passed them over being too busy, but Laura followed through on everything and for that we are all very appreciative. Oh, and of course the photos themselves are amazing!

My husband and I are not photogenic at all, but somehow she captured us in a way I haven't ever seen before. Even my maid of honor agreed that her photos were noticeably better than several other photographer's photos she had recently seen for other weddings she had been to. She was truly one of the best people we worked with for our wedding, and I would recommend her time and time again.

I highly recommend Laura Witherow Photography. My husband and I have extremely busy schedules and Laura made this whole process so smooth for us and on top of that we all had so much fun! And I genuinely mean that, wedding planning can be such a stressful time and you don't want to lose touch what your marriage is all about and she does this by making it an enjoyable experience.

She was always willling to work around our schedules in regards to when she could meet with us. She is extremely organized. Photography is an important part of the the wedding planning because this is where you will document all your hard work in making this a day to remember forever, and sometimes weddings are the few times families all get together. For those of you who want the help, Laura has a whole system of what the bride and groom need to be thinking about in regards to what type of photos you want to taken and the big one who needs to be in them!! I didn't have the time to think of all these details, but with Laura's help this wasn't a problem.

On top of all this, Laura made this experience personal for us in that I always was communicating through her. This is a big deal and something as you are picking your photographer that you need to pay attention to. Who is the person who you first talk to? When you meet with them- is this the photographer who is actually doing your photos? This all seems so obvious, but some people I looked at this was not the case. Laura will also take your vision and see it through which was definitely seen through the albums and photos that we received.

I also highly recommend getting engagement photos. This is not a requirement, she has packages for everyone and is flexible with this. But I have to say that my husband and I had so much fun with Laura going through the city as we did our engagement photos.

Another thing to watch out for when choosing a photographer, can you relate to them? This is so important because this person is going to be with you from beginning to end on your wedding day. Since I had already gotten to know Laura, when she showed up on my wedding day morning, it was so nice to see her and she really made me relax and have fun. That is a true sign of an excellent photographer one who blends in with the scene as opposed to getting in the way.

We also truly enjoyed her assistant, Kathy, both were such a nice addition to our wedding day!

And last for those with mother in laws she works so well with all the family members!! She was always willing to listen to her questions and answer her concerns just to make everyone relaxed on the day of the wedding. I have to say this was above and beyond! Now we have had even more family members go to Laura for family photos in her studio.

I highly recommend Laura Witherow Photography, and I can honestly say that you will be so happy with your decision if you choose to go with her for this momentous occasion in your life. She expertly combines professionalsim and fun in a fabulous blend. My husband and I could not be happier with the documentation of our wedding day.

Laura was wonderful to work with! We had a cold day for outdoor pictures and she kept it fun for the entire wedding party. She took some classic pictures, but also used her creativity to capture some really neat and unique, beautiful moments! She provides digital negatives as part of her package prices which we didn't find to be the case with other photographers.

Laura is extremely easy to work with and talk to. She did everything we wanted that day and more. We loved the way that she captured every moment, especially the candid shots that we loved to see afterwards. Her pictures told us the story of our wedding that we didn't get to see. I wasn't worried at all the day of my wedding about getting the shots, and I didn't have to spend much time with her prior to the wedding to explain what I wanted, I told her once and she came through. Can't wait to work with her again for other projects.

My husband and I found working with Laura to be very easy and highly communicative. We had originally booked with a national photography company, and did not feel like we were getting the one-on-one attention that we deserved, so we fired them two months before the wedding and LUCKILY found Laura! Once we found Laura - she gave us the answers we needed, was flexible with our needs and wants, and was extremely professional. We would highly recommend her, and will be using her in the future for family photos, etc.

Could not be more pleased with Laura Witherow. From the engagement pictures to the creation of the album, she was fantastic. She brought just the right energy to our wedding and the quality of her photographs were second to none. She listened to what my husband and I wanted and delivered exactly that.

At one point, in the midst of wedding planning, my husband declared that the only things he had enjoyed doing, with regards to the planning, was the tasting (obviously) and the engagement photos. That says something to how fantastic Laura is and how well she can handle any situation.

Laura is simply the best. We chose her to be our wedding photographer at the recommendation of a friend and also since she has won WeddingWire's Couples Choice Award multiple times (for good reason)! We live out of state, so when we booked Laura for our wedding photography, we asked if she'd be interested in/willing to come down to the South to do our engagement shoot (included in wedding photography package). She agreed, we bought her a plane ticket, and we had the most amazing engagement shoot! She is so fun and we loved spending time with her in our non-Chicago home. On top of that, she and her associate took the most stunning wedding day photos of us and our families. As she says, these are not just snapshots, but lifetime heirlooms for you and your family. She was also willing to work with us on timing and extension of the original package we booked, as our wedding day was quite long (side note: you'll probably need more than 8 hours of photography for your wedding day!). It was no problem. Don't hesitate to book Laura - I recommend her wholeheartedly. Not only does she know what works, but as a Chicagoan she knows the best spots for photos in any weather condition. Also, she's FUN! She and her associate also did a great job of capturing not only photos of people we love throughout our wedding day, but also beautiful pictures of the settings and small details we may have missed in the rush of the big day. The pictures we have from her for our engagement and our wedding are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen!
