I cannot say enough about how beautiful, convenient and accommodating this venue is! Lakeway Resort and Spa was by far the BEST wedding venue we could have picked. You cannot beat the views, friendly staff and the variety of options. Kelly, the Sales Manager onsite, was a pleasure to work with and she made sure that everything we wanted on our special day was done right. We had our ceremony in the Vistas Ballroom, cocktail hour on the veranda of the Vistas Ballroom and our reception in the Vistas Ballroom. We had s'mores at our giveaways and Kelly made sure the fire pits stayed on afterwards so people could enjoy their treat, it was great! It was completely perfect! We got so many compliments on the venue (as a whole) by our family and friends who stayed onsite for the weekend. People loved the pool area, bars, spa, restaurants and fun activities the resort had to offer. It was the BEST weekend ever!!-

This venue is absolutely gorgeous and the staff were professional, readily available and a pleasure to work with. Julie Stanfield was our onsite coordinator. She did an amazing job and I couldn\'t have asked for a better person to make our wedding day perfect. Any request we had she made it happen and even worked with us to stay within our budget rather than encourage us to spend beyond our means. She made herself and the venue available for the rehearsal which was very comforting. \r\n\r\nOne great thing about the venue is that guests can lodge onsite or find nearby Vacation Rental By Owners which made a big difference in how late people stayed at the reception. We had several families with small children at our wedding and the venue did a great job accommodating those families with high-chairs, booster seats, kids meals and even a children\'s play center.\r\n\r\nOur guests consistently remarked on how beautiful the venue was. I wholeheartedly recommend this venue. -

When I first saw Lakeway Resort and Spa I knew it was the place I wanted to get married. The Vistas ballroom was stunning so simple but the view was amazing. I don't know what I would have done without Julie. She was so much help and the day ran so smoothly with her making sure everything was in order. Julie is spectacular and does a phenomenal job!!! The view, service and food was perfect!! Everything the cheif cooked was delicious! They have high standards for themselves and to make your wedding day one to remember. I loved everything about Lakeway Resort and Spa not only the people and food but the environment, the beautiful suite they give you for your wedding night and the all around welcoming you receive. I recommend this place to any bride!!!! -

Where do I even begin with all the wonderful things to say about this place. We had our wedding here and planned the entire thing from New York - now this would not have happened if it wasn't for Julie Stanfield. She is amazing and that is a true understatement! She took care of every little detail and allowed me to not stress one bit the day of the wedding. The venue is BEAUTIFUL. All of the out-of-state guests loved it, saying it was the most peaceful place with the nicest staff they have ever met. Everything from the rooms to the staff to the food was impeccable. As far as the wedding and reception - it was literally perfect (we even extended an hour). Nothing, nothing at all, went wrong that I am aware of. And if something did, Julie is so good she would have taken care of it without my knowing. She took care of all the little details that a bride forgets about, like putting purses and cell phones in a safe spot, holding my flowers on cue when needed, taking gifts back to our room, along with setting up rose petals and champagne on our bed without us knowing! She is on the ball 24/7 with planning and was always reachable, even on her days off. We HIGHLY recommend using Lakeway for your wedding, if not just a vacation! The staff is nothing short of amazing :) -

I can't say enough wonderful things about Lakeway Resort. Frist off, I have to say that if I sit back and think about things that could have gone better, I seriously can't think of anything. I am totally serious when I say that I had the perfect wedding. Also, Julie Stanfield is HANDS DOWN the best wedding coordinator, planner, organizer, and friend a bride could ever ask for. She is absolutely wonderful. I would email her almost daily and she was always so quick to answer back. We ended up having way more people than we had planned for and Julie was so great with helping us stay within budget, as well as calming my nerves as I am freaking that my Mom is going to freak about the extra people! She had an answer for everything. I could go on forever about how great she was! The venue was perfect. I had more compliments on just how beautiful everything was. If I could repeat the wedding all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat. My husband and I will remember this special weekend forever and we will be back to visit often! -

Most of our 150 guests were from out of town. We desired a venue where they could stay entire weekend. Lakeway Resort and Spa served our needs. The service the entire weekend was excellent. The Vista room overlooking Lake Travis served for the ceremony and reception. Julie Stanfield the coordinator/manager was excellent. Her followup and suggestions were always dead on to our desires. New to the Austin area, we had to depend on her opinion for all. Never did she go wrong. She was on top of every detail. The food was excellent, the service was excellent.....I highly recommend Lakeway Resort and Spa. Everyone was always very professional. -

My fiance and I wanted a smooth, stress-free wedding and that's exactly what we got at Lakeway! Melanie Richardson and everyone on the Lakeway staff went above and beyond our expectations:) We had a wonderful experience there and will definitely return for our future wedding anniversaries! Oh, and how could we find a better view? The Vista Ballroom over Lake Travis was a breathtaking view for our guests to enjoy during our ceremony! -

From the moment we went to Lakeway for an onsite visit, we knew it was for us. We worked Melanie Richardson the entire time and she is awesome. Her response time is great and she always gave me great suggestions. We married and had our ceremony in the Vista Ballroom and the flip went off without a hitch. It was amazing how they transformed the space. It really felt like we were in a totally different room! The staff treated our guests with respect and took care of all of our requests with a smile on their face. It was really nice having everything in one place - especially since I always forget things :) My friends and family raved about the hotel and several are planning on returning for a getaway.

My daughter chose Lakeway Resort for her wedding festivities on August 6, 2011 in the lovely Vista Ball Room. From the moment of our arrival Aug. 3, we knew without a doubt this was going to be a wedding "Over the Top"
We were greeted at the front entrance before we even got out of our cars, the staff was prepared to unload our car with the wedding supplies, gifts, etc. whatever we had and we were not to lift a finger. Bellmen and staff had suitcases immediately taken to our rooms, while we registered with the amazing employees at the desk. Talk about being made to feel at home.
The Wedding staff, catering manager, set up crew, any and all help at Lakeway was available to make our stay one of the most beautiful and joyful experiences ever. Melanie Richardson and Julie Stanfield really stood out for knowing their roles. I felt I was on vacation even though I was the
mother of the bride. Lakeway did all the work. The food was delicious and
my guests 3 weeks later are still raving about the beauty of it all and what a marvelous time they had. All five's from us.

Lakeway Resort and Spa is an awesome wedding venue. Our ceremony was inside and had a beautiful view of the lake through the glass windows that enclosed the Vistas Ballroom. The wedding coordinator executed a flawless wedding and reception. Everthing was perfect. The food was delicious. All aspects of service before, during and after the wedding was outstanding. All of our guests were from out of town and spent the weekend at the resort and all echoed the same sentiments: great venue, delicous food and outstanding service. -

Melanie and Julie were great to work with! They were always very responsive to emails and would get back to me about things quickly. They have a very useful checklist that really helped me as a bride to get organized. The venue is BEAUTIFUL and is perfect if you want a sort of "outdoor" wedding that is temperature controlled. All of our guests swooned over the beauty of the location and how smoothly the night went. Lakeway makes it so easy with the packages they offer. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to have our wedding! -

Boy o Boy...this review could go on and on forever but I will try to make it as short as possible :) I was very apprehensive of booking this venue because of reviews I read from YEARS ago, but they are all so WRONG.
First off, I worked with Melanie Richardson from beginning (2009) to the end 7.28.11. She is AMAZING, probably under paid and over worked but you would never ever know that because she is so jolly. Melanie made sure that I was always taken care of. From the beginning when we were just "talking" about getting married at Lakeway and we couldn't afford a Saturday wedding due to the catering minimums. Melanie made sure that she laid out other options for us. She let us know that during the week we had more flexibility and I thank her so much for that. We were able to have our dream wedding and our dream venue because she wouldn't just let our no to Saturday be a No.
She was always so fast to respond to my emails (my 1 million emails) and if she wasn't around or off one day she made sure that her assistant Julie Stanfield was on the job! Julie is also a delight to work with. Both ladies are so happy to help you if they can. I have a very enthusiastic personality so to deal with me is a little different, so the fact that Melanie always got my humor and understood the things I was trying to accomplish throughout the planning process is priceless. The service I received from her is and always will be priceless...I adore her and I am sad that the wedding is over just for the simple fact that I may not talk with her as much because I know she is a busy woman!
The resort itself was beautiful of course, Melanie made sure the night of our wedding that we had extra cake placed in our room, we had champagne waiting for us, we had chocolate covered strawberries and rose petals. It was amazing and so beautiful. The Jr. Suite we had as a room was worth the little extra money because we had sooo much space in there.
Our wedding guests mostly stayed at the resort and arrive the day before, day or of and stayed through the Saturday after the wedding. (Wedding was on a Thursday). The resort took great care of our guests and their needs and everyone was impressed with how amazing everything was.
We used only the linens, chairs and dinnerware from the resort and it all looked beautiful with our decorative accents. The lighting package you can get it very much worth it! It gives the room so much extra personality and pizazz. I loved the up lighting on the columns and the pin spotting of the cakes and sweetheart tables. I loved the way the room flowed and was laid out. They know where things go best. The food was amazing! I wouldn't change a thing on our menu. We even got to our cocktail hour late but once we sat down at our table they had saved some of the cocktail hour food for us!!!! I mean that is attention to detail!
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone. It is amazing and so beautiful to create the perfect backdrop and atmosphere for your wedding day. The little details make it so big, from our names being on the lobby's chalk board telling us congrats to people following up with us now asking how everything was. We couldn't have asked for anything better. I love Lakeway Resort and Spa, Melanie and Julie. Amazing place and amazing people.

From the moment my daughter and I walked in the front door of Lakeway Resort and were greeted by the friendly doorman and amazing atmosphere, we knew her wedding was going to be there. We met with Catering Sales Manager, Melanie Richardson, who spent as much time as we needed to show us around and answer questions. I was impressed with not only her helpful and happy demeanor, but with the great ideas she gave us due to her many years of wedding experience at Lakeway. During the wedding planning process of more than a year, we found Melanie to be very responsive to anything we needed and the great working relationship she had with our photographer and florist helped a great deal. Working with Melanie was truly like having a wedding planner as she coordinated everything with all of the many moving parts we had for a wedding of 225 people and did it very efficiently and calmly. Needless to say, the ceremony and reception were spectacular! The room set up for the ceremony felt like you were in a church with an amazing view and the reception was so incredible it should have been in a magazine. The wait staff and service were great and the food was fantastic!!!! Another great part of having the wedding there was that everyone could be together for the entire weekend and the amenities Lakeway has with a great pool and swim-up bar, golf, workout room, etc. really was a vacation for guests. Everyone had a great time and it will be a wedding that none of us forget thanks to everyone at Lakeway! -

Lakway Resort and Spa was my wedding hotel for guests. The wedding block rate was outstanding....especially given the luxury and gorgeous views. All our guests were so pleased. Angie Yeo was also fantastic to work with. She was so flexible and patient with all my questions and really made everything very easy.
I also used the Lakeway Legacy Yacht (Captain Chris) for transportation to the wedding....it was so wonderful!! Not only was it neat for the guests to go to the wedding by boat, the boat was beautiful and Captain Chris was SOO helpful with everything related to using the boat. I HIGHLY recommend using him. -

Location, location, location! This resort speaks for itself with the magical lake views. The venue itself allows for minimal decoration (cost saving) because who wants to take away from a gorgeous cliff side lake view?? I highly recommend using lights aimed up on the concerete pillars, it looks amazing once the sun sets!
Richard, owner of http://www.interactiveesystems.com/, is one of the nicest men I've ever met who caters to your every need and understands what wedding planning entails.
Judith Roberts, with Lakeway Resort & Spa, is beyond amazing. It takes a very special person to help plan and coordinate weddings, and Judith was born for this! She's catering, understanding, and delivered outstanding customer service. The most important element of our wedding was to ensure our guests were taken care of and Judith under promised and over delivered. She relayed that message to the catering staff and everything was perfect! I can honestly say Judith make our day EXTRA special at every level. Thank you very much for everything, you're awesome! -

Managers Angie Yeo and Judith Roberts as well as the Lakeway staff were fabulous to work with, flexible, hospitable, and extremely helpful and worked well with our wonderful wedding coordinator, Barbara Hearne of Barbara's Brides. They did everything possible to ensure that our outdoor wedding ceremony and ball room reception went perfectly, even searching and finding the lost "flowergirl basket".
The majority of our quests were from out of town or out of state and stayed at Lakeway Resort Spa and Resort. All the guests were impress with the hospitality, beautiful surrounding, band, and fabulous food at Lakeway. I think it is safe to say that when everyone departed either that night or at the end of the weekend, they all were extremely impress with Lakeway, the beautiful surroundings, the people, and their Texas experience. -

Lakeway Resort & Spa is not only the perfect setting for a dream wedding, the staff is great at making dreams come true. The Vistas Glass Ballroom truly is spectacular, and it can be stunning in both it's most bare form and its most decorated form (so it is not necessary to spent a significant amount of money on decoration; the stunning view and great indoor amenities speak for themselves!). The wedding coordinators on-site are wonderful throughout planning and execution. The food, beverages and staff are truly superb and will leave guests talking about the event for years to come. Lakeway Resort & Spa makes the event as wonderful for the guests as it does for the bride & groom, which is very hard to find! -

Lakeway was an absolute dream of a venue for our daughter's wedding! We had many guests that stayed at the resort, and everyone had a blast poolside; playing with the kids, drinking at the walk up bar, enjoying the view and eachother. Having everyone all together all weekend was just what we wanted and was just perfect.
The ballroom was absolutely perfect; just beautiful with the lake view and the evening sun.
Melanie Richardson oversaw our events, and I can't say enough good things about her. She is the ultimate wedding professional; anticipating our needs, remembering all our small and large requirements. It was obvious she wanted our wedding to go perfectly. When we had a little glitch with our officiant, she responded immediately, helping me make what could have been awkward situation into another special part of the wedding weekend.
If you hold your wedding at Lakeway, you will be thrilled! -

Lakeway Resort and Spa provided a perfect venue for our January 8th wedding. We had many guests from out of town who stayed at the resort and it evolved into a mini-desitination wedding, which was absolutely perfect. The venue itself was beautiful -- Lake Travis was a perfect backdrop to our sunset ceremony. Melanie Richardson, our Lakeway Resort and Spa coordinator, was extremely helpful in our planning process and on the day of the wedding. She took care of every little detail with care so that we wouldn't have to worry about anything during our special weekend. She was fabulous. Our reception in the Vistas Ballroom was gorgeous. The wait staff at Lakeway was incredible and very attentive; the food was insanely delicious. All of our guests had a fantastic time at Lakeway Resort and Spa. Overall, the weekend was more perfect than we could have imagined. I would definitely recommend getting married at Lakeway Resort, however, it is on the rather expensive side, but they were very willing to help make our weekend fantastic for our budget. If you have a lot of out-of-town guests, then this place is fantastic because it serves as a hotel and a venue. The rooms were awesome, and very clean. The spa was amazing and very accommodating as well! Overall, I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed having our wedding at Lakeway Resort and Spa! We can't wait to go back for a six-month anniversary this summer to enjoy the pools and the spa, again! -

We had a great experience with the Lakeway Resort and Spa as our wedding venue. Alex Folden was so wonderful to work with! She responds to emails and calls very quickly, and will work with you to ensure you are getting what you want. She is personable, sweet, and fun, and made the planning process much more enjoyable.
This is a great venue if you are having a lot of out of town guests. About 90% of our guests were from out of town, and Lakeway offers so many amenities - very few of our guests ventured outside of the resort at all over the weekend because there was so much for them to do and enjoy on site.
On the day of our wedding, everything ran so smoothly! If there were any issues that day, I was not aware of them. They were very professional in everything they did, and I was truly amazed at how knowledgeable and how well trained the entire staff was. We used the Vistas Ballroom for both our ceremony and reception, so they had to flip the room in about an hour - they did a fantastic job!! Everything looked perfect for both the ceremony and the reception. The Vistas Ballroom is INCREDIBLE - unlike any other ballroom I've ever seen, with 3 of 4 walls as windows overlooking beautiful Lake Travis. The food was also AMAZING! Many of our guests commented (and still say) that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. When we tried the food at our tasting, we were blown away at how great everything was, but still thought when serving it for 150-200 people, no way it would be as good at the wedding. We were very wrong - it was just as good, if not better. We served filet with macaroni & cheese, and veggies. Everyone's steaks were cooked PERFECTLY and the mac & cheese had great flavor and was super creamy - no clue how they managed to cook perfect meals for that many guests. During the tasting, when we wanted to change small things, they were very accommodating and made our meal exactly what we wanted.-

Lakeway is a great place to have your wedding. The staff is professional and experienced, the venue has practically everything you need and can think of, and the Vistas Ballroom along with its view is just beautiful. I planned my wedding from NY, so I needed a venue and caterer that could help me from afar. I worked with Melanie and Ross, both who were so helpful, detail-oriented and attentive. They basically serve as your wedding planners and help you organize planning and guide both the rehearsal and day-of. They even let me deliver packages directly to Lakeway, so that I didn't have to haul a bunch of last minute items from NY. AND even helped make my escort cards. Their services were invaluable to me. Because most of our guests were also out-of-towners, we encouraged our guests to stay at the resort...and we've only heard positive feedback from them about their stay. My husband and I are very happy we had our wedding and reception at Lakeway. -

Our contact at Lakeway, Melanie Richardson, was excellent, superb, and flawless in taking care of us before and during the event. We cannot say enough good things about the service Melanie gave us. -

Great Job. Loved working with Julie. Our guests gave the venue rave reviews. They enjoyed staying at the resort, and they loved the view of the Vista Room. The balcony seating and bar area was a nice addition to the reception. -

We were somewhat apprehensive when the hotel changed ownership and our wedding coordinator left just after our "final" meeting. However, Melanie and Julie stepped in and were outstanding! Their response to emails was immediate and always professional. They met with us again with the head chef, and helped us "tweak" our menu, which was very appreciated. The food received numerous compliments, and we were able to include both our unique favorites and more traditional choices. The wait staff was awesome and always professional. The only issue was that we didn't recieve a food plate in our room that had been requested. There also was a room billing snafu, which was handled immediately with a smile (and with no reference to the fact that we probably should have made this clearer on our end - which further proved their professional attitude of customer service comes first). The weather, decor, and view were perfect - our pictures were everything we hoped they would be. Our guests rented over a dozen rooms and were thrilled with the resort. We were totally pleased and would highly recommend Lakeway to others. -

Lakeway is an outstanding facility. There might not be a better setting in the Austin area for a wedding. Our guest were overwhelmed with the atmosphere. Many of our guests even stayed at the resort and took advantages of the pool and other amenities.
The best feedback we got from our guests was about the food. We had numerous guests tell us it was the best food they have ever had a wedding. The potato bar was by far the fan favorite. -

Lakeway Resort and Spa is a BEAUTIFUL place to hold any event! Julie Stanfield is AMAZING, truly. I don't know how I would have made it through it without her! She is the best coordinator, organizer, and friend a bride could ask for!!
There are 2 reasons I gave a 3/5 on Professionalism (not a reflection on Julie at all) 1- the hotel was not completely honest with the room situation for our wedding. We were originally told we could reserve as many rooms as we wanted for our wedding block but then were not able to. They booked another event the same day as our wedding AND there were renovations going on that we were not told about. The hotel "sold out" very quickly and some of our guests had to stay at another hotel. However, it was sold out due to the fact that 2 entire floors were closed for renovations. This caused a lot of stress on the front end but ended up being fine. Julie knew I was upset about this and helped arrange for the hotel shuttles to make as many trips as necessary to bring in my guests that had to stay at the second hotel. 2- I had a New Years Eve wedding and was told the bar would stay open until 2am to accommodate my guests (our wedding ended at 1am). We told everyone to meet there after the wedding. After letting most of my wedding guests in, the bar manager decided to close the door and leave about 20 of my guests standing outside trying to join everyone. This was NOT acceptable and my husband and I spent about 30 minutes arguing with him. He said he had instructions from his direct manager to stop serving which was not true. Long story short after 30 minutes of arguing they finally let the remaining guests in. Again, not acceptable but after everything else had gone so well, those mishaps don't change the way I felt about the entire venue and experience.
The resort is beautiful, the food was amazing, and it was an even better experience than we could have hoped for!! You won't regret Lakeway! -

We thoroughly enjoyed our wedding weekend at Lakeway Resort. From our initial visit until we left the hotel, we worked with Melanie Richardson who was always available by email or phone.
The resort has a great view (and sunset) with a nice pool for your guests. Plus, most of our guests stayed at the hotel, so it was nice to have everyone close by. In a way, it felt like a destination wedding since everyone stayed on site (or in the pool). The hotel bar stayed open late as well.
The reception area offers great views of the lake and our guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the wrap-around deck.
The food options were wide-ranging and tasty. But the best part was the chef's (and Melanie's) willingness to try new foods that we liked. We had the traditional meat and salad, but they were able to whip up a "comfort foods" station with Fried Peanut Butter & Jelly (with nutella), fried Macaroni & Cheese, and Chicken Fried Chicken Sliders. Needless to say, the fried PB&J sandwiches were a hit.
If the groom is a golfer, there are loads of good courses nearby (Flintrock Falls, The Hills, Yaupon, Falconhead).
Lakeway is somewhat of a hike from downtown Austin, but it is well worth it. About 25% of our guests ventured into Austin at some point during the weekend, but most either played golf, lounged at the pool, or some even rented a boat on Lake Travis.
We could not be happier with the Lakeway Resort as a venue, and the guidance and help provided by Melanie Richardson was just as great.

From the minute I walked in I knew this was the venue for me! The view and food were wonderful!
Where else can you have your reception with the feel of being outside all while being inside?!?! I was a little afraid of a true outdoor wedding, but LOVED Lakeway and ALL the windows! Also the wrap around porch was great for our "cocktail party"
My guest are still talking about the food from the wedding!! It was wonderful and didn't taste at all like mass produced food, but instead fine dining! We were so please with the food selection!
I thought the planning services could use some improvement. We may have caught them in between sales associates, but things got lost in the switch which was quite frustrating. Also the "drive away" from the reception to the hotel was lacking!! We asked what was offered and they suggested a golf cart...they meant literally a golf cart! No trills, but just a plain golf cart that a lady dressed in normal clothes drove us away in...not what I called exciting, romantic, fun...any of those descriptions! Hell my husband driving it away would have been better than that :)
Overall a great experience and my guest had a wonderful time! I asked that my wedding party stay onsite that Friday night and they enjoyed it so much. In fact many have been back for mini stay-cations! The rooms were clean, the pool was fantastic and the spa didn't disappoint either.

On the wedding day, all of the details were a blur. The ceremony and reception were totally worth all of the planning, money, etc. Communication lacked sometimes, but everything worked out in the end. I will never regret having my wedding there, it was unbelievably gorgeous and have wonderful memories. -

Loved everything about the actual venue (the view and look of the facility itself) but we weren't so happy with the service received. Our coordinator was unresponsive and not as helpful as we hoped she would be. She started out great but was slow to respond to emails, hard to get a hold of through phone calls, and didn't always send us what we were asking for. We always felt like we were inconveniencing her or bothering her by asking her questions... we didn't even ask that many! Just basic questions and requests (requesting room list, asking for catering menu, scheduling a tasting) seemed difficult.
Getting room blocks here was a pain, too! We got a great rate through hotelplanner.com (MUCH cheaper than what our contact initially quoted us) for our room block, but then our Lakeway coordinator was in charge of securing rooms and sending us a room list. That part ended up being a lot more stressful than it should of been because of her.
We never received a floor plan of how the tables would be set up so our layout was COMPLETELY screwed up on the day of. She was having issues getting her software to work a week before the wedding and it's almost like she just gave up and didn't even bother to keep trying. Our day-of-coordinator (Rachel @ Buon Affare Events) was our lifesaver here - she mocked up a floor plan that we used to assign tables, and I know she did her best to make our assignments match the actual set-up, but there were still some major mistakes all because of Lakeway's incompetence.
We did our tasting 3 weeks prior to the wedding and had sent our menu selection months before that. We didn't get the final pricing/bill of our menu choices until THURSDAY before the wedding as we were driving to Austin. It ended up being more than we expected to pay but by that time we had our heart set on the menu and felt it was too late to make any substitutions or subtractions. Very disappointing.
The last straw was our cake. We had a huge cake - 6 tiers plus a large groom's cake - so that we could have generous portions for our guests. They sliced thin pieces for out guests and didn't have a lot left over. Our coordinator said she walked into the back and saw that they had boxed some leftover cake FOR THEMSELVES. So sketchy!!!
It really is a beautiful venue and I don't regret our choice to get married at Lakeway. Chuy and the rest of the staff were wonderful to deal with, we were just so disappointed with our catering manager/main contact.

We got married at Lakeway last year in the Fall and coordinated the wedding out of state. We have sent this feedback to the venue directly and didn't even receive an apology. I would like to point out the following major issues during our wedding experience:
1. Room Block and Front Desk- Not all of the rooms actually had a lake view, which was agreed upon in our contract. The rooms were also not on the same floor or even in the general area for guests that were coming from all over Texas, out of state, and out of the country. The front desk was friendly, but completely not prepared for the wedding party to check in the day before the wedding. To this day, I’ve had guests tell me they also had issues upon checkout with their bills. One guest cancelled one night (outside of the block room rate) and didn’t receive the appropriate bill for two weeks. I was also billed for multiple rooms instead of my mother and this took almost a month to correct.
2. Credit Card Payments- There were several issues with the sales groups throughout the planning process in 2016 and 2017. The highlight of these events came when the two credit cards on file were NOT processed during the week of our wedding. Instead, both cards were charged over a week later when I was traveling internationally for my honeymoon. Despite my calls and e-mails, I was unable to use these credit cards during our trip.
3. Bridal “Getting Ready” Suite-Although I take responsibility for not double checking this room prior to our church service, I am deeply disturbed that someone (either a guest or someone who knew a wedding was taking place) came into the room and stole a number of items to include a Bluetooth speaker. Only one staff member actively helped and looked for the missing item.
Lakeway Resort & Spa's reply:
Hi Diana,
Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated! Your September 2017 wedding reception was beautiful and our staff adored you and Alex. We hope in the future you and Alex will return to Lakeway Resort and Spa for a celebration of your anniversary. I know our Director of Sales has been in contact with you, which I am so happy to hear.
Thank you again and best to you and Alex!

We had our wedding at the Lakeway Resort & Spa. The facilities are impressive. The staff amazing. What is not amazing is the room block coordination. We had booked our room block at the hotel and I think the hotel is severely understaffed. They never reply to emails, they messed up SEVERAL of the room block reservations, and my husband and I spent several hours with them after our wedding just sorting through the bill because there were so many mistakes (e.g. we were charged for no-shows when clearly people had checked in). Plus somehow they ended up giving away our honeymoon suite and we ended up staying in my husband's original hotel room the night of our wedding (after arguing with the front desk that we were supposed to be getting a honeymoon suite as part of the contract we signed).
If you are planning a wedding here, you have to stay on top of the room coordination team. The setup is weird at this hotel: the event planning team is separate to the team that handles the room block and they don't talk to each other. So you have to stay on top of them. Triple-check with them on EVERYTHING. I highly recommend having a wedding planner help you with this. The Vistas Ballroom and facilities were amazing, and the actual staff who did the catering etc. on the day were fantastic. We just had a poor experience with organizing the room block, and making sure our guests were being taken care of in the way we had asked. We were organizing our wedding from out of town so being on top of them was quite difficult for us. If you are planning your wedding locally, you might have an easier time.Lakeway Resort & Spa's reply:
Hi Sriya,
Thank you so much for your feedback. We were happy play a part in your beautiful wedding, it was truly an event to remember!
I have again escalated your comments to my leadership team, who I know you and your husband have already been in contact with. We strive for excellence, and this is not the kind of service that we find acceptable at all. We take your comments very seriously, and they will be discussed with all parties involved in your wedding.
Please know that you can always reach out to us if you would like to speak further or give us any more feedback, it is greatly appreciated. The direct line to the sales office is 512-261-7314, you can reach Rebecca or myself there.
I hope you and Dhairya are doing well and enjoying married life!

I had the best time and the worst time with Lakeway Resort and Spa.
It all depends on who you work with. I would strongly recommend against working with Dawn Davies as catering manager. She was the third person I ended up with. The two catering managers before her were excellent and quick to respond to my requests, and made the planning FUN.
Dawn would take ridiculously long amounts of time to respond to my emails, whether short or long. I would have to end up calling her and then she would respond right on the spot. Apparently her organizational skills were missing. It took her 10 business days (not counting weekends or holidays here, and she was NOT on vacation at this time either) to get me back a vendor list. Then she assumed I had hired her chair wrapping person without following up with me (why would I have hired her when she took almost 3 weeks/10 bus. days to get me a vendor list). I think the vendor list is pretty important when your wedding is 2 months away... thanks.
She didn't cover any details with me like it currently says on Lakeway's website. The napkins were folded wrong - different than how it stated on the event order (that's really the least of my worries, but just something I noticed). She never even asked me how I wanted the tables to be set up, never offered me ways to decorate the tables, the room, etc. I was completely left on my own. I expected her to be asking me how I wanted all the details, but got nothing. Also, when she sent me the BEO (banquet event order) to review, I had to correct several mistakes and had to go back and forth with new versions way too many times than necessary. I would tell her something was wrong but she failed to correct it until I told her a second time to fix it!!!
She wanted to charge me $9 pp to substitute cheese & fruit instead of prosciutto wrapped melons. I am pretty sure cheese costs way less than prosciutto (plus it was only $4pp to add prime rib!). I had to fight for awhile but finally got that fixed.
They wouldn't let us use their ladder to hang our lanterns because of insurance reasons - OK, so how tall are the ceilings? Dawn told us they were 10 feet so the GROOM brings a ladder for 10 feet. Well, 3 hours before the ceremony and we find out the ceilings are more like 16 feet - HELLO?!... Can we use your ladder now that you made a mistake? NOPE (even though my planner SHOWED them her insurance, they still wouldn't let her use it). The GROOM once again has to drive about 30 minutes each way to get a taller ladder and barely has enough time to change clothes before the wedding. Nice.
Oh, and then she tells me goodbye in the middle of my wedding, before everything is said and done, which she is supposed to be overseeing.
I am just lucky that I hired a day-of wedding coordinator (see my review on Leave The Details to Me).
Just be careful when picking ANY venue. In this situation, I picked a venue because of the great people in the beginning. The guy had been there 9 years and the woman I worked with second was excellent as well. I just had bad luck, and you never may know what staff could change between the time you pick the place and the time your actual event occurs...
The view is beautiful, however they are very unforgiving when little things come up. I spent a ridiculous amount of money with them and there weren't any cuts in it for me.. I was disappointed with that, especially considering the service level and treatment I received from the catering manager when the staff changed and it got so close to my wedding. I definitely won't hold another event there, and may not even recommend it as a vacation spot because of the horrendous service. Sure the views are excellent, but that's no excuse to behave rudely or be absent to my requests.
I chose to stay the night before my wedding at the hotel since I had a 12:30pm ceremony time on a Sunday. I had the worst time that night, waking up at 4:30am to some girls screaming in the hallway (I had to wake up and get ready at 6:30am!). I cut them some slack, since it was Saturday night and waited for them to at least be a little quieter, but 30 minutes goes on and they're still running the halls. I had to call the front desk who got security down there almost another 30 minutes later. Shouldn't security be pro-active and catch this before it wakes other guests?! ESPECIALLY when it's right next door to the bridal suite! AAH!
The food was excellent and I heard a lot of compliments about it. The waiters and waitresses and bartenders were very courteous and did an excellent job as well. We can't forget all of those hard workers because without them, there would be no great event!
I hope the venue picks better catering manager staff next time. That is the one person I dealt with the most and the one person I had all the most problems with.
Everything else was great (except way overpriced!) -
