Emily really brought our wedding cake vision to life: not only was it absolutely stunning, but the flavors were to die for and perfectly balanced. We had very specific elements that we wanted in our design, and Emily found a way to blend everything together beautifully. We had a completely vegan wedding and were so grateful to find Lael Cakes. We chose two flavors after a fun cake tasting that Emily put together for us, and the final cake was everything we hoped for. She created an elegant and delicious three-tier cake. Several guests told us it was the best cake they’d ever had!
Emily made it so easy to have a truly special dessert on our wedding day. We can’t recommend Lael Cakes highly enough. -

Literally amazing - could not recommend more
We couldn't be happier with Lael Cakes for our wedding. The cake was the most delicious. My wife and I are both vegans, but none of our guests were, and all of them said this was one of the best cakes they ever had. The final design was gorgeous. You are making the best choice of your life. -

I would like to thank Emily and her team for giving me and Ani our dream cake! It was absolutely stunning, delicious and so unique! This was the primary reason I chose Emily, because her cakes looked different, felt personal and she was also able to accommodate our flavor requests. Every single flavor was so delicious, and the mango one turned out to be my favorite. Funny because that's the one we didn't even have in our tasting! That's the amazing thing about trust though, once you trust someone with something so important - they're bound to deliver it to their fullest potential and that's exactly what Emily did!! -

Lael Cakes was absolutely a highlight of our wedding! Emily was amazing to work with and she went above and beyond in creating an artful, delicious final product that our guests unanimously raved about weeks after our reception. She was very gracious to provide take home samples of our cake to confirm our flavor choices, and she went meticulously reviewed the design/colors. Also, delivery to our venue was perfect. My wife and I were thrilled. In fact, we have a couple of slices frozen that we can't wait to have for our anniversary next year. Definitely keep Lael Cakes at the top of your list! -

Best Wedding Cake!
Emily was AMAZING to work with, and her cake was one of the highlights of our wedding! Many guests noted that it was the BEST wedding cake they’ve ever had. The flavors (Gingerbread / Maple and Carrot / Ginger) were so memorable and unique. I cannot recommend Emily enough - her cake really made our big day even more special! -

Delicious, beautiful cake and amazing service!
Emily at Lael Bakery was amazingly helpful in making our dream cake a reality! It was gluten free and dairy free and all of our guests were blown away at the beauty and taste of the cake! Can't overmphasize enough how delicious the cake was! We had the cocoa-espresso and lemon-lavender flavors and they were both super delicious and great complements to each other.
Emily was fantastic to work with! She was super responsive and talked through all of the details of the cake itself and the logistics with us in detail. We were able to taste four amazing flavors in advance and choose two for our final cake (we could have chosen just one, but wanted to give people a choice!). The delivery and logistics day off were super smooth and we couldn't have asked for anything more! We highly highly recommend Lael for anyone and especially for those with sensitivities.
We included some photos - they aren't perfect, but we didn't get too many since people ate it so quickly :) It was truly stunning! -

After being turned down multiple times by other bakers who could not accommodate all my food allergies, I was so grateful to finally find Lael Cakes. I needed someone who could prepare a Wedding Cake that was gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. I started feeling super defeated during my initial search and was just hoping I would be able to have the traditional experience of cutting and eating my wedding cake with my husband at our wedding. The second I got in contact with Emily Lael, all my fears immediately went out the window. Emily is professional and patient and made me at ease with her years of experience with specialty cakes, especially ones made with ingredients to substitute flour / dairy.
On top of how accommodating Emily is with her ability to make cakes for my specific allergy concerns, her cakes are beyond delicious. Her flavor offerings are sophisticated and balanced. She offers an array of options that left us with a lot of hard decisions since ALL of them tasted so amazing! She also took the time to have a one-on-one with me and my husband to discuss the aesthetic of our wedding. Emily is so in tune with making sure the design of her cake fits in with the overall look & feel of the occasion. This really proves her attention to detail and the true passion and care she has for her craft.
After we decided on a flavor and design, everything else was pretty much history. Emily took care of the rest by reaching out to the venue's coordinators for delivery details. And before I knew it, my new husband and I were experiencing the cake cutting tradition I had only dreamed about months before. Emily made this moment a reality for me and my husband and we are so very grateful! I would recommend her to anyone – allergy concerns or not! -

Stunning, delicious, and allergen friendly!
Would give 10 stars if we could! When thinking about a cake for our wedding, we had completely given up on finding something gluten free that would both look and taste good! We can firmly say that Emily’s cakes were the most delicious that we have ever had; her flavors were extraordinary and our guests were even more floored to hear that they were gluten free. The sugared flowers were even so gorgeous that I thought that they were real until we cut our cake. Apart from being delicious and gorgeous, Emily was so kind and listened to our ideas, turning them into a finished product that exceeded our own creative vision. Already thinking about future parties to throw so that we can commission another cake from her. Needless to say, we would recommend her to anyone and everyone (in fact, we already have)!

How to even begin describing the incredible experience we had with Emily? She truly made us the most stunning wedding cake. The wedding cake of our dreams! People who were not even at our wedding are STILL talking about how insanely gorgeous our wedding cake was.
Working with Emily to create our marvelous cake was also a dream. We came in with a vague idea of what we wanted, but, together, we shaped our vision into reality. Emily was patient, kind and encouraging of all our ideas. She also is extremely creative and resourceful. She advised us on what fruits would be in season and where she would order them from and presented us designs of her creative concepts after several discussions with us. She talked us through the implications of different flavor and texture combinations and advised on artistic directions that would flow with the vibe we wanted at our wedding. In the end, she created a luscious three tiered pavlova, resplendent with seasonal fruits and berries, that was not only gorgeous to look at (our guests were in awe!), but was also delicious! For an unforgettable wedding cake experience (in the absolute best way possible), there is no other choice: you must go with Lael! -

Lael cakes was exactly what we needed for our wedding. The bride is lactose intolerant and all of the dairy-free cakes we've tried before were dry or didn't taste great. Emily was able to create an incredible tasting dairy-free cake and the flavors fit perfectly for our theme. She totally understood the aesthetic of our wedding and the cake matched perfectly as well. The whole process was fun and easy, it was something we didn't have to worry about leading up to the big day. -
Mallory Sent on 09/17/2018I've been vegan for 15 years, and always assumed a traditional wedding cake wouldn't be an option for me.... then, as vegan bakeries got better and better, I found myself a gluten-free partner, and assumed again that we wouldn't be able to have a traditional cake.
Then we found Emily at Lael Cakes, and what can I say? Dreams do come true. (Yes, dreams. I LOVE CAKE!)
In addition to the remarkable beauty of her cakes, they taste great. We got three fascinating and fantastic flavor combinations, and people were shocked how good everything was. Though we had a 100% vegan and gluten-free wedding, we had only a small number of veg*an and/or gluten-free guests, so we took a LOT of teasing leading up to the date that people would be smuggling in "real" food.
They ate their words, and then went back for a second piece of cake.
Seriously, Emily's cakes are SO GOOD, that they don't get those caveats: "Good for vegan," or "Way better than most gluten-free cakes," or anything like that. These cakes are just GOOD. Light, flavorful, not overly-sweet but still hitting the "cake" note (these are not health foods).
I'll definitely use her services for special events moving forward, not just weddings. In fact, I might invent reasons to need to order a cake. They're just that good!

Where to begin?! Emily made our dream wedding cake come true. From my several dietary restrictions and allergies, to the design, to her communication and organization, Emily was such a pleasure to work with. With my allergies and dietary restrictions, it's always hard for me to find a desserts that measure up, but Emily's flavors were sent from heaven and to this day is still the best dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free cake I've had. She was also a great collaborator, taking our design ideas and tweaking them to be even better with her own twist. I'd get married again just to have her cake, lol. ;) -
