My husband and I envisioned a wedding celebration with our family and friends at a ranch in the Yampa Valley and La Joya Dulce (LJD) was the perfect venue! Kathie and Wayne Jacobsen, Croix Frank, and the rest of the LJD team were very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. As our wedding manager and day of coordinator, Croix, paid extra attention to our requests and made sure every detail was flawless which made our wedding day extra special. LJD offers an incredible Share the Love program, breathtaking views, and a laid back, and elegant atmosphere. Guests of our wedding still rave about the gorgeous sunset, friendly horses, delicious taco bar, and endless dancing! We greatly appreciate everything the LJD team did to make our wedding day one we will cherish forever. -

We cannot even begin to express how happy we are that we chose La Joya Dulce for our wedding venue. We got married on 8/1/25 and it was the BEST day ever.
La Joya Dulce was the first venue we toured. After we met Kathie and Flynn last fall for our tour, we had full confidence that the venue and team would help us create our dream day. We cancelled all our other tours - they are that good. The communication and organization of this venue and team is top notch. They help you through the entire wedding planning process and make sure everything is lined up well before your day. We were able to relax and enjoy our day - and having been in other weddings? This is invaluable.
The venue itself is beautiful. We are from Denver but love Steamboat and visit often, so getting married here was extra special for us. Our family and friends were in AWE the entire day! The views are incredible and they deliver on a classic Colorado ranch experience.
Huge thank you to Tommi, our wedding manager, who went above and beyond to make our day nothing short of amazing. She's so organized, - this helped make communication with vendors seamless and easy. Tommi took care of an endless amount of tasks before I even thought to address them. Our day ran so smoothly because of her.
Flynn, who helps oversee the wedding operations at LJD, was wonderful as well. He's friendly, fun, and on top of everything! He's helped keep us organized and made sure the day ran as planned. Our guests had so much fun hanging with him and the horses during cocktail hour :)
Thank you Kathie and Wayne for giving us our dream day. You truly blew our expectations out of the water and we couldn't be more grateful. Wayne - thank you for all the candid content from our day as well! -

Ok. So you choose the venue for you. And you should. But holy Batman besties! This is one for the books as far as your guests are concerned. Views. Check. Impeccable service. Check. Horses to pet. Check. Plenty of space. Check. Outside or inside? Check. Amazing experience? Priceless!
We attended a wedding this summer (and they had outside dining - the staff there flipped a space for 200 in less than an hour and it was GORGEOUS). You have to take a shuttle (only not so great thing - our couple opted for school busses and they were hot). You get there? A SMILING staff member greets you. Tells you important info. You get off the shuttle? A SMILING staff member greets you with a tasty mocktail since you are at 7000 ft. Don’t worry besties, there’s alcohol. This is just a nice “hello.”
Ceremony? A SMILING staff member directs you to one of the most stunning views ever. What you may not realize is that you get to come back after cocktail hour and if the weather is nice? You dine under a Colorado sunset.
Did I mention the SMILING staff members? And then? You meet the owners who are absolutely the sweetest and kindest people. They take your photos. Give suggestions as to things to do. And Kathy is like this national champion horse person and her horses are obviously well treated as they are so kind as well. And the owners love for their staff has to be genuine as they have the best trained, most incredible staff we have ever experienced at a wedding. You could literally tell the staff was happy to be there.
Top to bottom the best wedding we have ever been to in one of the most beautiful spaces we have ever experienced. La Joya more than deserves every accolade they get.
Book this place now. Your guests will rave for years (and you will as well). -

Kathy, Tommi, and the entire team at LJD made sure every detail was accounted for from the chargers for plates to the vintage rug runway from cocktail hour to the reception. It truly was the best day of our lives with a backdrop our guests will never forget and won't stop posting about! The team ensured our wedding experience was about all about US on our big day, which was so important to us. I couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful, diligent, and well rounded team on my wedding day. The atmosphere of the venue is truly breathtaking. -

We live here locally in Steamboat and it meant the world to us to be able to get married here. Everything about this venue is amazing! We had the best experience and our guests had THE BEST time. They truly put the bride and groom first while also providing an amazing experience for their guests. The wedding day was stress free, as the staff are professionals and made the day seem seamless. My wedding coordinator Kylie was absolutely amazing and made us feel so comfortable. She was calm, cool and collected the entire time. The venue is beautiful, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and confident about the big day. I would recommend La Joy Dulce to anyone and everyone! They were very supportive and accommodating to our ideas as well as very easy to communicate with from day one. 10/10! -

An idyllic ranch wedding
Our wedding day at La Joya Dulce was truly unforgettable. It was the most wonderful day of our lives, everything was perfect. Kathie and Kylie went above and beyond to make sure every detail was attended to. They were extremely accommodating and patient, making the planning process smooth and enjoyable.
The staff at La Joya Dulce were not only professional but also incredibly helpful. They were quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had, which put us at ease throughout the entire planning process. Their attention to detail was immaculate, and they truly listened to our vision for the day.

There are no words to express how incredible our experience was having our dream wedding at La Joya Dulce. This was the first venue we ever toured and we immediately fell in love with it and knew this was the place we wanted to get married. Not only were we in love with the scenery and all the incredible property we also loved Kathie and everyone who works there. They truly treated us as family and we are so thankful for everyone at La Joya Dulce.
The planning process was amazing and stress free. Kathie provided incredible recommendations for vendors that met all our hopes and needs. I loved planning our wedding at La Joya.
The best part was our wedding weekend, this truly was a dream come true. The entire staff was so kind and helpful setting up and made everything run so smoothly, including the rehearsal dinner. The day of the wedding was a dream come true. We got ready in the most beautiful space and had a blast. When it was time to make our way down to the alter the staff was so supportive and kind, all while making us feel like their own family. Our guests could not stop raving about La Joya. We enjoyed a gorgeous ceremony outside, with cocktail hour up at the barn and a reception at the pavilion. It was absolutely perfect! Everyone would tell us as we were planning that something will not go as planned, but at La Joya that is not the case. Every detail was immaculate and we had the time of our life. We never wanted the night to end and neither did the guests. We truly believe this is the most spectacular venue in all of Colorado and our guests agree.
La Joya Dulce is unlike any other venue in all the best ways and we are forever grateful for everything they did to make our wedding day a true fairytale! -

Absolute Perfection!
Deciding on La Joya Dulce for my winter elopement was the easiest and best decision I made (other than saying “I do!”). Ranch owners Kathie and Wayne were a joy to work with in planning my dream wedding. Kathie’s vendor recommendations were excellent and I continued to feel reassured each time I heard a glowing review from these vendors (and others) about Kathie and La Joya Dulce. Every exchange we had in the months leading up to the wedding was helpful and encouraging. She was always willing to give a practical suggestion or give an honest opinion about what would work best on our big day. As we approached the big day, Kathie recognized that I needed to finalize some plans and ideas, and she couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating with my last minute changes and adjustments.
On the morning of my wedding, Kathie was the first person I talked to. They had been up for hours already preparing the ranch for my wedding day. The heavy snowfall in the days leading up to my wedding-and anticipated rain on the day of-had me worried about plans (and backup plans), but Kathie reassured me that they had plans A, B, and C already in motion! My experience with Kathie up until this point allowed me to take a deep breath and just trust that she and her wonderful husband Wayne would take care of us, no matter what.
Little did I know that while I was getting ready in town, they were busy plowing the very road required for us to travel to La Joya Dulce! When we arrived, we had no idea about the amount of work they had put in to get us there safely, as everything looked more perfect than I could have imagined. Breathtaking views as far as the eye could see. Every single detail (inside and out) perfectly planned for and arranged.
Our small ceremony was emotional and included our children. We felt comfortable to be ourselves and truly enjoy the day. My family couldn’t stop commenting on the beauty of the place, and the welcome we Southerners had felt from Kathie and Wayne. Kathie wore many hats that day: cake decorator, impromptu ceremony planner/director, veil adjuster, champagne and hot chocolate pourer-anything in the world that we needed-she anticipated and made it happen seamlessly.
I could go on and on in describing the level of guidance and assistance Kathie provided in helping me plan and pull off the wedding of my dreams. Wayne even came through for my husband with a special request after the ceremony that remains a secret between the two of them. This place is magic and Kathie and Wayne went above and beyond to share that magic with us. I couldn’t imagine my wedding day spent anywhere else or with any other people! -

La Joya could not have been more perfect an experience. I can't thank Kathi and her team enough. I was very busy and dealing with constant change during the planning. From the first meeting, we loved the venue and the owners. The breath taking scenery and facility aside, the team was so supportive and helpful. They were truly excited to make our dreams reality.
We were married on horseback by the owner and her words combined with the support of the staff made it a storybook day. I look at the photos and am amazed at how smooth and flawless the day went. -

This wedding venue is magical. You can use as much of the Ranch as you want to achieve the experience you want. We had a winter wedding that could have not been duplicated anywhere else. The views, the winter sunset, the pure white snow, the long driveway, the aspen trees, the beautiful horses, the expansive land, the barn and arena...it was all perfect. The horse and buggy just put the whole wedding onto another level. Kathie and Mandy were every easy to deal with and they offered great suggestions because they know every inch of their land. Anything we needed we got. And they have a huge barn with so many items you have access to, most are free. It's called 'Share the Love". Our favorite was the s'mores cart that Kathie's husband made. Our daughter also wanted ladders hung from the expansive ceiling of the arena to put her flowers on and not only did Kathie's husband hang them but he made the ladders. So many things were done that made our daughter feel like she was the most important person in the world. It was a wedding that only a person can dream of and they are still feeling the ranch even though it's been 7 months. -

It was the perfect venue for their big day and as a planner we appreciate the attention to detail, communication, and collaboration that Kathie and her team had to offer. There aren't enough words for how highly my husband and I think of La Joya Dulce as a venue, and more importantly, how amazing Kathie, Mandy and Wayne are as people and business owners.
When I first started looking for venues in early 2019 (planning for a Summer 2020 wedding), my typically experience with other venues was getting ~5 min to speak with someone. That was not that case with La Joya Dulce. From the first call, I knew they were a different type of venue -- one that cares about their current, and potential future couples, immensely.
I could write a whole essay, but I'll give you the basic gist about how wonderful this venue and the people who run it are:
- Pre-COVID, we were looking forward to a June 2020 wedding at La Joya Dulce. From my first call with Kathie, all the way to the point where we realized COVID was going to hinder our plans, she was always willing to take my calls, get creative, figure out new ways to go about things, and then eventually change direction. It was a stressful time for couples planning weddings, but I also know it was an extremely stressful time for small business owners in the wedding industry. Regardless of that, Kathie, Wayne, and Mandy were all wonderful, supportive, and again, willing to get creative, and we ended up figuring out a new solution. (It's took a few tries, so thank you for your patience, Kathie, Wayne and Mandy!)
- The venue is breathtaking! The view is out of this world, and everything is so well organized. When we finally got to have our party in July 2021, I 100% felt like everything was taken care of, and my husband and I had zero stress about how things were running. They do so much behind the scenes and truly make you feel at home.
- La Joya Dulce does this wonderful thing called "Share The Love". This program is the best thing to happen to any future couple, and it felt even more specially after all of the craziness of COVID. Basically, once you decide to become a La Joya Dulce couple, you have access to a whole library of decorations that previous couples have donated to the ranch. There are some "bigger" items that you have to pay a bit extra for, but compared to renting it from another spot, it's extremely affordable. And a good amount of the items are free once you decide La Joya Dulce is the place you want to get married.
- They let you pick your vendors. This was HUGE for my husband and I! We were not impressed with other vendors we had spoken to because of how expensive their services were to begin with + the fact that we would've had to go through them for food and alcohol (which they up-charged like crazy). With La Joya Dulce, we were given a list of "preferred vendors" which was very helpful when it came to narrowing down our search, but we were also able to use our own vendors if we chose to do so.
Again, I could go on-and-on, but I'll end by saying this:
I 1000% recommend this venue to any couple that's looking for a BEAUTIFUL venue, an AMAZING team of people to help make your day perfect, and an UNFORGETTABLE experience.

Kathie, Mandy, and the entire La Joya Dulce team are absolutely amazing! We were one of the couples impacted by 2020 covid restrictions and Kathie was gracious enough to allow us to come get married, as planned, with our very limited family. She let us come back and do the wedding celebration with our full guest list over the summer (2021). Both times we were met with amazing professionalism, top-notch planning/time management of the many items that you have to juggle when planning a wedding, a beautiful setup, and just an overall sense of love and excitement from the team. Everyone is super easy to work with, has impeccable taste, and is there to make sure you have a fantastic, fun, memorable day. Hands down, the 2 best days of my life have been at La Joya Dulce!
The ranch is gorgeous and the Share to Love inventory is abundant and in great shape! It saved us hundreds of $$ on would-have been decor expenses. Kathie has made great relationships within the community in Steamboat and we used several of her recommendations and those teams did not disappoint. We absolutely love this venue and everyone you work with while you are there! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! -

My daughter had LJD booked for August 2020, obviously that didn’t work, but they were very accommodating and we got the same day the next year. It was a destination wedding for most of the guests and they all rave about the place. I personally was there for a rehearsal dinner and all day doing hair and make up. It went off without a hitch dealing with Mandy was wonderful and everyone else at the venue. I would recommend it to everyone -

Oh. My. Gosh. Where do I even begin in describing how INCREDIBLE LJD is. My now husband and I chose LJD during the height of the pandemic in 2020. We chose it without visiting it and while it was a leap of faith, Kathie and Mandy had MULTIPLE zoom meetings with my groom and I answering questions. They even had zoom meetings with our parents to include them and make sure they were comfortable as well. They went above and beyond before a dollar was spent or a contract was signed to ensure everything was accounted for. We knew without a doubt we were making the best decision out of any venue in Colorado.
I hired Mandy Crabb for her full wedding planning service and would recommend her to every bride in the universe. Mandy was my peace through the craziness of planning a wedding and anyone can attest that once you get in her presence you just feel at ease. I was an involved bride with planning and Mandy helped me every step of the way by guiding my timelines and suggestions with her expertise and decor skills. However, on the day of, I just wanted to show up and have everything done. That is exactly what happened. The LJD crew went ABOVE and beyond making sure that every detail went off without a hitch the entire wedding weekend. It was all hands on deck, including the owners Kathie and Wayne ensuring every table setting, flower, piece of cake, chair, etc., was arranged perfectly and I couldn't be more grateful. After the wedding, I had a number of guests contact me saying how incredible the staff were at LJD and how it was the most beautiful wedding venue they had ever been to. They truly work incredibly hard to make sure everything is absolutely perfect!
In short, if you are looking for a venue with breathtaking views (seriously go look at the pictures), incredible customer service, and staff that are 100% invested in your day, this is the one! I promise if you book this venue it will be one of the best decisions of your entire life.

Beyond the best!
The awards they win are just the start. They think of *everything* and are so detail oriented, it's amazing. We were last minute in 2020 and they couldn't have put us more at ease. Add the gorgeous views and HUGE spaces to party in ... yet they managed to make it feel so very intimate. They are magicians! -

The Perfect Day
Even through a pandemic, working with Kathie, Mandy, and the entire team at LJD was such a fantastic experience. We received a lot of communication from Kathie, especially once COVID-19 hit, and felt at ease throughout the final weeks leading up to our wedding. The entire experience was just a dream and we had such an incredible wedding day at La Joya Dulce! The pavilion was transformed into a bright, airy space for our reception. We had some truly magical photos taken in the fields at the ranch during golden hour. The ceremony space had unbeatable views of the Elk River Valley. All our friends raved about Mandy and how she was on top of everything. And as a bride, I was able to trust the team with any last minute details or problems, so that I could really just enjoy the day. We have a fond spot in our hearts for this place and the people. -

Our original wedding has been affected by Covid-19 and they have gone above and beyond to not only allow us to have a small celebration on our original date but also reschedule into 2021 without hesitation. When they say you join the LJD family when you choose them as your venue, it really feels like a family. We are so happy to have a team that is able to adjust to the situation and allow us to now have two weddings of our dreams! -

Best Destination Venue in Colorado!
La Joya Dulce is indeed the SWEET GEM of Steamboat Colorado. We truly cannot say enough amazing things about our experience at this venue and with the La Joya Dulce staff. The location, gorgeous property, various venue options, organization, and impeccable service was absolutely above and beyond what we could have envisioned for our wedding day. From the beginning, we knew this was our spot after touring the gorgeous outdoor ceremony site and stunning indoor barn facilities. A huge benefit to us was having the entire property for 3 days. YES! It's unbelievable that you pay a very affordable amount for the entire weekend! This allowed us to host multiple day events, including our rehearsal, set-up at leisure, and breakdown the day after our wedding. We also loved having the option to get ready onsite in beautiful, spacious, and of course separate areas. The venue offers not only multiple areas to host your events, but includes various and normally very costly event rentals such as tables, chairs, linens, bar tops, games, lots of wedding decor, and a very fancy trailer bathroom. At first, I was worried about planning a destination wedding in the mountains while we live far away but Kathie and Mandy were amazingly well-organized and helpful. I greatly appreciated their recommendations for local vendors and willingness to work with all of our preferred vendors and day-of coordinator. We took on planning most of our wedding, and I could not have done it without Kathie’s ongoing advice, problem-solving approach, and sanity check-ins (“what’s the weather like today and how many leaves are left on the aspens?!?!). Kathie and her team did everything possible to make our day special, carefree, and enjoyable for our guests. We received so many compliments on our wedding day, and cannot thank La Joya Dulce enough for everything. In working with this venue, I learned that working with a venue is more than just a place to host your event, it’s all about the people you get to work with (for months…) and the staff at La Joya is as good as they come. How to I even begin to describe the amazing wedding we had at La Joya Dulce. From the beautiful fall aspen trees and endless valley you looked at during the ceremony to the amazing staff and best wedding planner a girl could ask for (Mandy with La Joya Dulce) this venue exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a hip but classic barn venue with a true Colorado vibe I highly recommend LJD. As the bride I felt so well taken care of all day. Not only did I get to roll up in a 1939 Jaguar replica, I was brought cocktails and samplers of the amazing food without asking. We had our first dance under the stars outside the barn and then the Edison barn lights lite up our dance floor for the night. It was classy, elegant and still country. A must in your search for your perfect day : ) -

Wedding we never knew we dreamed of
We were lucky enough to find La Joya Dulce on the Knot and were fortunate to grab their last available date in 2018. We planned our wedding in less than 6 months and the team at La Joya Dulce was incredibly flexible, helpful and instrumental in creating our perfect wedding. We didn't have a lot of specific ideas in mind in the beginning, but we were able to work with Mandy and Kathy to make our wedding exactly what we wanted. They were very helpful with coordinating with vendors and making sure every detail was perfect. We found our caterer and photographer through their recommendations and both were excellent! We were lucky to have great weather for the ceremony, outdoor cocktail hour and have the dance floor under the stars. It really was a dream! We were even able to include our dog in our ceremony and reception! The venue is so beautiful and it was so much fun to see our guests reaction to the site. One said "you guys are getting married in heaven" and it really was! The day flew by and the timing was flawless thanks to all of the help from La Joya Dulce making sure that we took the time to create flexible timelines and think of each detail in advance. Our wedding day was truly unforgettable and we could not have done it without Mandy, Kathy and Wayne and the beautiful La Joya Dulce. -

They have a stunning property from a classic barn welcome and a large indoor arena, to an outdoor setting with brilliant views of the surrounding mountains and valley.
