I came in to Kristin needing minimal alterations to my wedding dress. Talking with Kristin, she explained to me the different bustle options and I decided to do a French bustle. Kristin was very thorough in explaining the options and also provided a video tutorial with my dress on how to use the bustle. During this process, I was trying to find a particular cape to go with my dress due to it being a winter wedding. I let Kristin know the issue I was having and asked if she could make the cape-- and she said yes! The cape turned out beautifully. She showed me a couple of material options to choose from and clasp closure options. She made sure I got exactly what I was envisioning. Thank you Kristin!

I never thought I could love my gown so much
I cannot give enough praise for Kristin. Everything about my experience working with her was perfect. She is responsive, efficient, kind, creative, fun, and so incredibly talented. Kristin is the BUSTLE QUEEN!!! I had planned to drag my dress all night because I didn't like the look of bustled gowns, but Kristin made it look so seamless. I loved my gown bustled just as much as with the train down (I don't have pictures of the bustled gown but trust me it looked amazing!). Kristin made the gown of my dreams. She is so talented!
When I bought my wedding dress, I liked it, but wasn’t crazy about the plunging neckline. The bridal store told me the only change I could make would be a modesty panel, but after seeing my dress, Kristin assured me that wasn’t my only option. Not only was she able to change the neckline to a style that I was comfortable with, but she did it so skillfully that it looked like that was the way it was originally intended to be. Other brides may be able to buy my dress, but Kristin’s alterations made my dress look and feel like a custom made dress. I got compliments all night on my dress and I know it’s only because of Kristin’s work. I HIGHLY recommend her!!!

I got my wedding dress at La Reve Bridal and Kristin was at the top of the list for preferred seamstresses. I am so glad I found her! She’s incredibly skilled and knew exactly what needed to be done. She works quickly and does beautiful work. My dress had a lot of lace work and beading and it all looks untouched even though I had to have it altered for length. UGH! Kristin is the most wonderful seamstress and a miracle worker! I found her after getting some quotes from some other locations and she was not only the most affordable, but had the BEST reviews. My dress needed to be taken in about 2 sizes and had some details that needed to be fixed and she did that for about $450. She has been so patient with me as I was a corona bride and had to move my wedding twice. The only downside I would say is that you need to book all your fittings with her fast because she fills up quickly, which I feel like is a good problem to have and means that people love her! Highly recommend any Houston bride to use her.

The best in the industry, you do not need to look further for a Bridal Tailor. She has so much experience under her belt and have been doing this for more than 20 years or so! She has had experience with every dress you can think of and I completely trusted her to make the changes. She is absolute worth every penny to help make you feel even MORE amazing in your dress.
She’s very professional and very sweet and easy to work with! She is attentive and listens to your concerns about the dress and addresses them.
I am 4’11” and curvy, and my dress was a ballgown with tons of layers in the front. I was scared the layers weren’t going to look the same because I was so short and I might have to compromise some, but she made sure I didn’t and made it look better than ever.

I’m so happy I found Kristin!! My grandmother asked me to wear the dress that she wore in the 1950’s. The dress was not only (at least) 3 sizes too small for me, but also not quite the style I would have chosen. Kristin did an amazing job on the reconstruction! She reworked the bodice with lace so the dress retained the vintage look, while fitting me and my personality. She’s also just a really cool person and I looked forward to my fittings!

Kristin is the fairy godmother of wedding dresses
I bought my dress from Misora Bridal a year ago, but it was a sample dress off the rack, and discontinued by the designer. It was THE dress and was sold a discounted price. Unfortunately the dress was a size 12 and I am a size 0. The dress had so much details in terms of beading. I saw the reviews of the seamstress that was recommended by the bridal boutique, but I was not gonna take any chances with any negative review. I came across Kristin Johnson Bridal on Yelp and knew this is where I wanted to get my dress done. Pricing was reasonable considering the restructure of the dress, but it was well worth it. She worked well my schedule, given that I started a new job too! Overall my dress was beyond perfect, and the compliments kept pouring in on my wedding day. Kristin is definitely the fairy godmother of wedding dresses. Make sure to book her far in advance!

KRISTIN IS AN ARTIST. Before I met with her, I thought, "oh, alterations are just alterations, you can get them done anywhere and it's the same." Oh my gosh, Kristin sincerely opened my eyes to a whole new world. My mom and I were literally giddy when we left our first meeting with her, she is INCREDIBLE at what she does, and I would trust her with any wedding dress on any body type. I didn't even know I could be excited about alterations. :-) She corrected little things on my dress that I didn't even realize needed to be corrected, and I promise you it was not just to make an extra buck. She took my already-beautiful dress and made it EVEN better. She explained every little detail and why she was making the alterations that she did. And the bustle - oh my gosh. I bought my gown at La Reve Bridal Couture in Sugarland, TX and she was the first on the salon's list for bridal alterations.
She is super in demand and you need to schedule her appointments far in advance! She is that good.
She keeps her appointments very organized and she sends emails and text messages for reminders. She gave a fair quote as well and was in the ball park of the quote when it was time to pay and take my dress home.
I am going to include the final product in the photos. They are my bridal portraits. I do not have any pictures with the bustle, but she took my 7+ foot train and made the most gorgeous American bustle for it. People were absolutely in love with the bustle and for our first dance, I truly looked like a princess. She did a wonderful job. I would use her time and time again. The shop where I purchased my dress recommended that I go home that day and schedule my appointments with Kristin immediately. I'm so glad that I did. Kristin is amazing! She made my dress fit like a glove, is a total pro, super talented, and very reasonably priced, BUT those are not her most important qualities. She is an amazing person to work with and to be around. I total confidence in her talents, but I sometimes questioned my dress choice. She assured me that my dress was beautiful and that it was made for me. She made me feel beautiful and unique in that dress. At the wedding, I had SEVERAL guests not only compliment my dress but the fit as well. Many people told me that it looked like it was made for me. IF you want to work with a talented pro that will also make you feel special and beautiful, Kristin is your girl. Don't bother looking into anyone else, you don't need to. I was almost in tears when I left my final fitting because I was sad knowing I'm not likely to get to talk to her again. I do not have enough words to capture how awesome it was to wok with Kristin.

Kristin did an absolutely incredible job with my wedding dress. From the moment I walked into her studio, she went down to business – I loved it! She is so knowledgeable and made all alterations look easy! Nothing was impossible! I did not know how, but she always knew what to do at every fitting. My dress fit perfectly. It hugged in all the right places without any constriction! I also looked and felt like I had a curvy, hour glass shape (which does not happen every often, haha!). I also was super (super!) comfortable in it throughout my entire wedding day! I was able to sit, eat, dance, walk, etc. without hesitation, frustration, or fear that something would happen to the dress.

Ladies... your wedding gown is one of the most (if not THE most) important details of your wedding. Do yourself a favor and book Kristin NOW. She books up at least 6 months in advance and there is good reason for that... she's incredibly talented and basically a magician! I was crazy and booked her 1 year in advance.. as soon as the calendar opened for fitting #1, I snagged the appointment.
My dress was purchased off the rack during a sample sale. Luckily, it was my size and zipped right up. However, I wanted to alter the silhouette from a modified A-line dress to a trumpet shape that would flatter my body. I also requested the straight neckline to become a sweetheart and needed a built-in bra for the bodice. My designer gown had 5 different layers of French Alencon lace. The work required on the dress was all done by hand and intricate to say the least. I couldn't trust any tailor with the dress so after some research and a personal referral, I was so glad to find Kristin.
After 4 fittings, the dress fit like a glove! I had so many compliments on the gown, and it just wouldn't be right NOT to give Kristin credit for making me feel like Cinderella! :) She was so wonderful and easy to work with.. I was a bit sad after the final fitting that I wouldn't be seeing her anymore! She lives in Katy and works out of her house, so it may be a trek for some of you but she is totally WORTH it!

Kristin is a MIRACLE WORKER. I came to her with a wedding dress that was multiple sizes too big and wanted to add custom, delicate lace sleeves to the dress as well. Not only did Kristin tailor the large dress until it fit my body like a glove and gave me a rocking hourglass figure, but she added the most beautiful lace sleeves I have ever seen onto my dress. You can't even tell the dress started out strapless because her alterations are so seamless.
Kristin isn't your average tailor who does what you request and nothing more, even if the look of your garment requires otherwise. She went above and beyond and spent time on every little detail. She added buttons to the inner wrists of my sleeves, spent a whole fitting going over each lace piece and where I wanted them to lay on my arms, added loops in the corset back to thread my strapless bra through so it would be hidden, and created color-coded bustle ribbons so my Maid of Honor can bustle my dress in no time on the big day. Just to name a few!
After four fittings, I have to admit, I was a little sad leaving with my dress last night. Kristin's appointments have been such a highlight of my wedding experience! She took away all of my worries about the dress and created something better than I could have ever imagined. I can't recommend her enough to every Houston bride!

To be honest, you really shouldn't do any further research... she's it. Utterly blown away by Kristin's attention to detail and handiwork. I had my mothers wedding gown revamped (sleeves cut off and shortened to a cocktail dress) ..Kristin did so with the most incredible attention to detail and concern / care for its vintage self. I was referred to Kristin after purchasing my dress from La Reve Bridal Couture in Sugar Land and I'm not sure what I would have done without her!!!!! When I first purchased my dress, I had that "feeling" you're supposed to get when you find "the one" but I wasn't quite obsessed with it because it was almost 3 sizes to big and not form fitting (it was a fit-n-flare) UNTIL Kristin got a hold of it and really turned it into what I was envisioning! She is extremely talented and fun at the same time so I felt very comfortable tossing ideas around with her to mesh her professional opinion with my vision. What we came up with was amazing! My dress was strapless and I was originally wanting a keyhole back so from scratch, she created these beautiful (detachable) timeless sexy beaded lace straps! She somehow developed them flawlessly out of my confusing direction for wanting something more than just a strapless dress or adding just a beaded belt. My mom was completely floored by Kristin's talent when she witnessed my french bustle mock up and her alter suggestions. We ended up scheduling 4 fittings because she kept having to take my dress in, which was perfect and I couldn't have been happier with how perfectly my dress fit on my wedding day! Choosing Kristin was the best decision ever, I still put my wedding dress on because she turned it into everything I could have ever wanted!!

Kristin is my fairy godmother that transformed my dream wedding dress into THE ONE AND ONLY DRESS I want to wear every day, all day! I designed my dress and had it custom made; however, I had my measurements wrong. The dress maker was from out-of-state and I did not see the dress until it was completed and shipped to me 2.5 months before my wedding. Totally not the dress maker's fault - I should have gone to somewhere else to get my measurement instead I was lazy and went to a place down the street from where I lived. The torso was made for a tall lady, whereas I am petite 5'1. Kristin had to complete reconstruct the entire dress, remove boning and cut off inches from my torso area. But not once was I freaked out. The moment I emailed her about my issue, she knew exactly what was wrong before even seeing the dress in person. I knew I was in good hands. After 4 appointments, my dress fit me like a GLOVE. I can't thank Kristin enough for all of her hard work on my dress. I really couldn't even envision what my wedding dress would look like when I first got it, it must hung on me looking like a huge expensive lace table cloth! She really pulled together my vision of the dress and changed it to make it unique for me. I got so many compliments on the dress and my mom cried she couldn't believe all of the changes she made and how far the dress had come. She never thought it'd fit right and I had her redo do the entire top taking it from a off the shoulder dress to strapless. She built a bra into my dress so that it could be a strapless dress. Than after she added the belt we ran into a snag when the dress kept wrinkling at the waist from the weight of the belt. But it was no problem for Kristin she added drapery weights to pull out the wrinkle! The dress is one of the most important things on a wedding day and I made a wonderful decision entrusting her to alter it for me. It really was a pleasure working with her and you will not regret choosing her as your seamstress for your big day! She's also very reasonably priced when compared to other couture alterations shops.

I'm so glad I did! Kristin's attention to detail and superb customer service made me wish she can do all of my alterations. Kristin Johnston Alterations - All brides have a few panicked moments. Mine was a less than adequate dress alteration. The first place I went wasn't attentive to what I wanted and rushed me through my fitting. After a small panic attack and some research a friend (Manager Aisha Osanyin of La Réve Bridal Couture) sent me to Kristin Johnston, who is very knowledgeable and took the time to listen to what I wanted. I felt like she truly cared about me looking beautiful for my wedding. I loved the dress when I bought it but after seeing Kristin's work I was completely blown away.

I came in with a dress I had bought as a sample, so it was too long, too big, and had very slight wear. It was also very beaded and very lacy. My dress had to be taken in some, the length altered, the sleeves turned from cap sleeve to sleeveless, a belt added on, and a bustle needed to be added. At my very last appointment, everything was perfect and it looked like a completely new dress! My mom and I were so impressed with Kristin's work! And the bustle was AMAZING! I loved my dress bustled just as much as I loved it with the train! I would highly recommend her to others needing their dresses altered!

Kristin is fabulous! She is super sweet and very talented. She was fun to work with! I enjoyed chatting with her and laughing about life..she is very friendly and provides a very comfortable environment. She had an answer for all of my concerns, even, when I wasn't sure there would be a solution. My dress didn't fit exactly right at the last fitting, which was only a couple weeks before the wedding and before I could even panic she told me no worries and she'd fix it. When it didn't fit exactly right the next week, she didn't let me leave until we got it perfectly right. THEN when I got home and tried it on a few days before the wedding and I felt like I was tripping a bit over it once I put my shoes on, I texted her in a bridal panic and she took me in the next day and fixed it perfectly. No matter what the issue is for you, you will be in great hands as long as Kristin does your alterations-she'll make sure of it. I would imagine I was one of her more difficult brides lol and she absolutely worked with me from start to finish and her work wasn't done until I felt comfortable and beautiful. I can't imagine I would find that kind of service, care, and especially flexibility from a store. I definitely recommend her!

I am legitimately bummed out that my final fitting is coming up. I have had such a wonderful experience with Kristin. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable and talented, but she's just a breath of fresh air in the middle of all the wedding planning craziness, and is very pleasant to chat with. I didn't require any major overhaul but I am petite so my dress did not hit me in the right places. It looks like it was made for me now and I feel 10 feet tall wearing it. The bridal salon was going to charge me almost as much as I paid for the dress to do the same alterations. I was really blessed to find Kristin. She put me at ease and it was one part of the planning process I never had to worry about. Thanks so much, Kristin!

Kristen was amazing! She is incredibly nice, and she takes such pride in her work. Fittings were always fun, and she had great ideas. She added beautiful detachable lace straps to my gown, and created an amazing bustle. I kept spinning in my gown all night, because the bustle was gorgeous. She is so responsive, and if I had any concerns, no matter how small they were, she always addressed them. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than she did, I am thrilled with the results. I can't wait to refer all of my friends to her!!

I was referred to Kristin from Marry go round bridal, and I am so grateful! I am about half way through the process and I have to say I am very impressed with Kristin's work. My gown was several sizes to big and needed reworking. Kristin is doing this as well as completely restructuring a vintage gown to a party dress for me. They are looking amazing and she is doing it for a very reasonable price. Also she is a doll to work with , she makes the process fun and easy. She books up fast, so start early!

When I purchased my dress, it was close to 3 sizes too large for me. Between ruffles, beading, and a mermaid silhouette - I was worried the alterations were going to cost a fortune! Since we didn't buy though an actual bridal salon, I was at a loss as to where to go for fittings. Luckily, my mom found Kristin through wedding wire!
Working with her was a blast! She spent each fitting gushing over how gorgeous my dress was... although I'm sure she does for everyone, it really made me feel beautiful, especially since my mom was unable to attend with me. She effortlessly created a beautiful bustle and even color coded it to make things easier on my bridesmaids!
I would/have/will recommend Kristin to everyone! She's very reasonably priced and EXTREMELY talented!

I was recommended to her by an independent bridal shop and I was worried that she would not be able to fit me in because it was so close to my wedding date. However she took my dress and made it perfect for me. I will definitely go back to her in the future for any alterations that I or any family member needs. I was one of the many people who had NO clue what goes into altering a wedding gown. In fact, since wedding gowns are ordered, I figured they made them to fit your measurements - definitely not the case. Kristin was a name on a list of six tailors in town, but came highly recommended by the bridal store, Bella Deur. I gave her a call, because I didn't know what to expect or even what happens during a "fitting." She was SO incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and I could immediately tell she had such a passion for her work. I booked her then, and it took three fittings to take my over-sized dress down to a size that fit me like a glove.
She internally constructs the dress to perfection. This is important, because wedding dresses aren't exactly the most comfortable piece of clothing you will wear, and most require some form of support to stay up for your whole day (no tugging or pulling on your dress!). She has the art of inserting all of the magical slimming, supporting, and lifting devices into your dress down to a science. She was so helpful, and really helped me understand everything she was doing to my dress. On the day of the wedding, I was so thankful to have chosen someone with so much experience, because it fit me perfectly!
Finally, you aren't going to get a better price for dress alterations ANYWHERE. She is beyond fair, and it is clear she loves doing this. She books up fast, so if you have a gown and need it altered...book her now!! I have recommended her to anyone I know who is getting married. She is PERFECT!

I absolutely LOVED working with Kritsin! I let her know that it felt personal with every visit and not like a rushed job like other places. I don't have words to really describe how happy I am that she worked on my dress. I lost some weight and she didn't get upset when she had to take it in. Kristin preformed magic on my wedding dress. I am very petite and curvy - 5'2", 110 lbs and 32DDD. My dress was about 4" too long with heels on. The hemline of my dress was made up of swirls of ivory taffeta and silk which was impossible to take up the hem line. So, Kristin took my dress completely apart at the waist to shorten the length. Even holding my dress and inspecting it closely, I was unable to tell that she had completely dissected it. If I had not seen my dress in pieces, she would not have been able to convenience me of this.
Also, my dress was very low cut in the back. I went to every specialty bra shop in town and online but nothing worked. When I explained this to Kristin, she recommended sewing a bra into my dress which was so comfortable and I never had to worry about my straps showing.
All of the work was done on schedule, in a very professional manner and very reasonable. I highly recommend her for all your alteration needs.

I was so distraught when my dress arrived - it didn't fit correctly and I hadn't planned on having it altered. With only a month before my wedding. Kristin was able to see me three different times. In that time, she seamlessly fitted my dress, added a built-in bra, and created a beautiful bustle. I would highly recommend her services.

Kristin was amazing! I swear, this women can work wonders! She worked with me so much to make sure I was 100% happy with my dress! She added a lot of extra support in the top to make me feel secure in my dress, she removed the tool that I hated, and removed some boning in the dress to make it lay flatter against my stomach. The bustle she created was so beautiful - it was exactly what I wanted (and there were 19 bustles!) She did such a great job! I liked her so much, I referred my little sister there to get her bridal gown fitted with her, she did my Mom's Mother-of-the-Bride dress (and even MADE a jacket to fit for my Mom!), and my maid of honors dress - which she was worried about because the back wouldn't zip up - We were ALL so pleased with her. She does amazing work, really knows what she is talking about, she listens to you, explains things to you... over all she is so talented and I feel her pricing is very fair! You won't be disappointed with her!

I highly recommend Kristin Johnson for any of your bridal attire needs! I got married December 7th, 2013 and was advised to book Kristin at least several months out as she tends to stay booked up. I was worried I may not have allowed enough time in advance when booking her, but she was extremely accomodating and fit me in right away. She has a keen eye for bridal fashion and I felt as if she gave me the real feedback I needed for the type of dress I chose. I never felt rushed and she took the time to give me her opinion on my accessories. Her prices were extremely reasonable and I was actually shocked when I got my final bill because it was less than I expected. She is extremely professional as well as friendly and funny.
