Beautiful 6 layer cake!

My husband and I had a vision of a VERY large six tier cake. We used David Alan Catering, which came with a cake package with Kim. She helped us bring our idea to life and she had some great ideas to help us stay in budget, but still achieve the look we wanted!

Delicious Cake

Our wedding cake from Kim's Cottage Confections was great! Working with Kim was a breeze and we enjoyed our wedding cake just as much as the fun cake tasting months before. Our cake was delivered to our wedding venue with such ease and the pricing was great too. Thank you Kim's Cottage Confections!

Such a wonderful cake for our wedding!

We had our wedding at the Society Room of Hartford which works with two cake vendors, one of them being Kim's Cottage Confections. After meeting with both vendors, it was Kim's hospitality, professionalism and overall quality of the cake flavors that she presented at the tasting that won us over! I made a sketch of our cake design for our wedding and she NAILED IT! It was exactly what we were looking for and every aspect of the cake (including the flavors we picked out) was perfect!

Delicious and beautiful cake and favors!

Kim did our wedding cake and favors; I couldn't have been happier with either the cake or favors. After working with Kim for our wedding, I will be using her for all of our special occasion cakes. We had a four tier cake with 3 different combinations of flavors; after sending lots of different images her way, she came up with the perfect design! The cake was delicious and beautiful and Kim is just fabulous; I can't wait to defrost the top tier for our anniversary!

Delicious AND Beautiful wedding cake

Kim made our wedding cake (and gluten free cupcakes) for our wedding on 5/26/19. While going wedding through pictures, our family and friends have been telling us how gorgeous/delicious and beautiful our wedding cake was. We couldn’t agree more!!!
We can't thank Kim enough for her hard work. I dream about the chocolate, gluten free cannoli filling cupcakes and hope to stop by the bakery soon to get my fix!

Beautiful and delicious cake

Kim delivered exactly what we wanted in terms of style and flavors, and she was very easy to work with throughout the process. The hardest part of the process was narrowing our flavor choices down to just 3!!! So many delicious options.

Amazing Marble Oreo cake!

Kim baked amazing cupcakes and smaller cutting cake for our wedding! She was so easy and fast communicating with via email for the planning process, and was so accommodating to meet us for a taste test. After tasting how delicious all the flavors were we ordered more mini cupcakes to our order than we expected. We had our cake and cupcakes delivered to our venue which arrived safely and on time before our wedding (even being the Durham fair weekend!). I left out platters and dishes for the cupcakes which were placed so nicely around. Then I left fresh cut succulents and our cake got decorated beautifully on the spot. We got an 8 inch marble cake with Oreo filling and vanilla naked frosting on the outside. It was absolutely perfect and exactly what we showed Kim pictures of at our meeting. We froze the cake we could not finish before our honeymoon, and we cannot wait to have it on our anniversary!! Thank you so much, Kim!

Beautiful work with great flavor!

Kim was very friendly and easy to work with. We scheduled a cake tasting with her a few months before our June wedding and her flavors were on point! We ended up choosing a marble cake having cannoli filling with buttercream frosting and it did not disappoint. The cake turned out very beautiful, tasted great, and arrived to our venue on time without any problems. Thank you again!

Easy Decision

Loved working with Kim, she made the cake-choosing fun and easy! The cake we choose as well as our Groom's cake came out just as we had wanted. Kim was also flexible in working with us from the opposite coast, and even came in right around Christmastime to make sure we could get for our tasting. I can't wait to eat that cake top in another year...

Kim was amazing, and so were the sweets!

From the minute we met Kim and had our tasting, we knew it was the perfect match! We wanted something a little different, and she made wonderful suggestions. We had cupcakes and a perfect size cake just for cutting. Last minute we decided to add some cookies and she was very flexible. Everyone has been raving about the cupcakes ever since our event!

Kim provided the most wonderful cakes for our wedding day! We went to meet Kim at her shop and were immediately blown away by how lovely and friendly she was! She took the the time to guide us through options and had so many pieces of cake available for our tasting! As soon as she said cannoli cake and we put it in our mouths...we were sold!! Kim worked with us on the design of our cake and was so efficient at communicating throughout the whole process. On the day, Kim also provided an amazing little box of treats for our guests that had gluten/dairy allergies and we were so impressed by this. We found Kim through our venue and I am so glad we had the option of someone so talented and lovely to fill our bellies with such delicious cake!!!

We got our wedding cake from Kim's Cottage Confections and we are so glad we did! The cake turned out beautifully - it was exactly what I was hoping for, with a beautiful fading blue to match our theme. We bought our own cake topper which was artfully put on the cake on the day of our wedding. And most importantly, the cake was delicious! There were so many great flavors to choose from, and the cake was very moist - I wish I had more! Definitely recommend!

We used Kim's for our Riverhouse wedding 10/15/17. We met with her, and she was able to pull our vision for our wedding cake right out of our heads and make it a reality. The cake flavors were so delicious, and it looked beautiful! We can't wait to eat the top on our first anniversary!

We met with a few vendors when it came to our Wedding Cake and Kim was by far our absolute favorite. We honestly knew within seconds of meeting her that Kim’s Cottage Confections was going to be our choice. All of our guests have been talking about how amazing our cake flavors were since our wedding and we were beyond impressed. It looked gorgeous and was exactly what we described/discussed with her, and everything was absolutely perfect. Kim is very professional, responsive, flexible with busy schedules and incredibly sweet!

We got married at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station and worked with Kim to create our vision for a cupcake table and our mini-cake that we could cut during the reception. Everything turned out great and was really delicious! We went with hazelnut amaretto as the flavor for our cake! :) - great variety of flavors to pick from!

I had my wedding at the Society Room in Hartford and used Kim's Cottage Confections for my cake. I was very happy with how my cake came out and the experience I had there. The tasting was wonderfully set up, organized, and comfortable. I had a naked white cake with strawberry mousse, it came out beautiful and was delicious!

The cake that Kim made as part of our Riverhouse catering package was beautiful! From the moment I met with Kim to try some cake samples, I knew that she was the right cake vendor for us. She took time to understand my vision for our wedding cake and completely executed on that vision. Our cake was simple and elegant and matched our color scheme perfectly. Not to mention, it was delicious! I highly recommend Kim!

Kim is awesome! We met with her a few weeks before the wedding to taste the cake and everything was delicious. I showed her a picture from Pinterest that I liked and she made it come true.

We actually had 2 flavors and they were both delicious. We don't like butter cream and she was very accommodating in making both types of cakes with a mousse and cream cheese base.

Kim's was one of the bakery included in my venue. If they weren't included I would still have chosen them to make my wedding cake. I was very impressed with their professionalism when we went for our tasting appointment. She had her samples prepared and ready, all fresh and fabulous tasting. We chose the lemon cake with raspberry and white mouse filling. Absolutely delicious. The wedding cake tasted exactly the same as the samples we tasted and were fresh. Also, I wanted one of the sections of the cake to be metallic silver. Other bakers told me it was not possible. Kim's worked with me and made it work to give me the cake of my dreams.

The cake Kim made was part of the package for my wedding. I met Kim at my venue's food tasting and enjoyed her cake designs the best out of the vendors there. I called her after the tasting to set up an appointment time with her. I had a few ideas of what I wanted and brought them with me. For the consultation we first went over the different cake flavors. I am not a sweet-tooth type of person by any means so Kim made sure to point out the more savory cakes that she thought I would like. My husband came with me to the tasting since he enjoys sweets way more than me. He enjoyed all the cakes and as Kim predicted I enjoyed the more savory ones she brought out. She was very professional and courteous. Once we decided on the flavors (we went with double chocolate and a lemon cake with raspberry filling) we moved on to the design. Kim had a detailed sheet with her so as we talked and I showed her pictures of what I liked, she took notes and made sure to ask detailed questions. She answered all my questions about the cake topper and decorations. I found her to be very professional and willing to spend as much time as needed with me and my husband. The cake was exactly what I asked for in terms of the design. The flavor and cake itself was absolutely amazing and delicious. Very moist and flavorful.

Kim's cottage confections exceeded our expectations! Not only was my daughter's wedding cake beautiful to look at it was just as delicious. She was so professional but also made us feel like we were part of her family. She came through on everything we asked of her! She has a wide variety of different and delicious wedding favors and a nice variety of flavors for the cake. She is very talented and creative. Kim was extremely accommodating and met us after hours one night in her shop, with fresh samples of very different flavors. We chose a lemon cake with raspberry fruit filling for one flavor and the second was chocolate chip/raspberry swirl cake with raspberry mousse filling. They were DELICIOUS, our guests are still talking about the creative flavors, the display, and how fresh the cake was.

During our free consultation, Kim listened to what we had to say and talked through our many ideas, taking bits and pieces of what we liked and bringing it together in the design. In the final design, she brought our wedding theme, which was rustic charm, into our cake and our cake table display, which made the event that much more special.

Working with Kim, I had nothing to worry about and I would recommend Kim’s Cottage Confections to anyone looking for delicious cake and great customer service.

Kim's cakes were really wonderful. At our wedding, we used individual cakes as our centerpieces. Kim decorated them each individually, and they all came out beautifully. She also let us choose 4 different flavors so that the tables all had a variety. The one thing I wish was that the frosting used was a slightly different color, but that's my fault for not providing a picture or swatch. Kim was pleasant to work with and very friendly. We definitely recommend her!

Kim came as an optional baker as part of my wedding package with the Society Room of Hartford, and omg that was the most amazing and delicious cake ever! All of our guests loved the cake too! So grateful! There was no way the top layer was getting frozen and saved for a year. That would be an insult to such a tasty cake. Can you tell we love cake? Kim is just so talented and made such a cute personalized cake that was just beautiful with some geeky touches, a little Star Wars and a little Final Fantasy. We are absolutely ordering from her again. We can't wait for our anniversary to order a little cake from her.

I had my December wedding at the Riverhouse in Haddam, and Kim's Cottage Confections is one of the two bakeries they deal with exclusively. The price of the wedding cake is included in the fees I paid to my venue, but I asked Kim for custom handmade snowflake decorations so there was an additional fee of $75 which I was very happy to pay. I sent Kim a picture of my dream wedding cake which I found on Pintrest and she did an awesome job replicating it on a smaller scale since my cake was only 3 tiers. She was also very accommodating when I asked if my fiance and I along with both of our parents could come in for the cake tasting making 6 people in total. It was a fantastic experience and her cakes are as delicious as they are beautiful to look at. I also ordered custom decorated chocolate covered pretzels as my wedding favors for guests. I got 120 bags with two pretzels in each and they were gorgeous and again delicious (also I think they were reasonably priced). There wasn't a single pretzel bag left behind by my guests and I even had several guests ask me where they came from because they were so good! All in all I am extremely happy with both my cake and my pretzel favors - I would highly recommend Kim to anyone in the area!

We selected Kim's to create our wedding cake out of three possible preferred vendors of our venue. Kim's flavors are DELICIOUS! We selected the apple spice cake with toasted walnut buttercream. It was unique, moist, flavorful, and not at all your "average wedding cake". Guests actually called us to ask where our cake was from because they loved it so much! The outside was beautiful too - exactly how we envisioned and what we asked for. We cannot wait to eat our topper on our 1-year anniversary!

Amongst the cakes we had 3 different flavors happening, and our guests were pleasantlyu surprised. Typically, not many people have much to say about the cake at weddings... but we received so many complements, and everyone said that cake was delicious. Aesthetically the cakes were perfect, and they tasted great and were perfectly baked.. moist and delicious. Kim was also very accomodating in regards to the cake sizes, etc and the stands that we wanted to use... she was wonderful to work with. Everyone at the shop was so friendly as well, I would highly recommend Kim's Cottage Confections.. thank you so much for everything!

Our cake was beautiful and delicious! Our venue provided the cake, but they gave us a few options. We loved the cakes we tasted and decided to go with Kim. Our cake was delicious! We had so many compliments on our cake. The dance floor cleared out because everyone was enjoying the cake :)

Our cake was amazing! The best part about it: 1.) It was funfetti cake 2.) The price was included with our wedding venue. The girls there were very helpful with choosing the right style and tier's for our cake. We didn't want fondant and they were very susceptible with our choice. I learned of Kim's Cottage Confections through my venue. The cake tasted as amazing as it looked. The actual cake was twice as beautiful as what I had imagined when we designed it at the tasting. Kims Cottage Confections did an amazing job on our wedding cake. Kim was fantastic to work with and the design of the cake was EXACTLY how we wanted it.

EVERYONE at the wedding commented on how fantastic the cake was. The cake was super moist and the frosting was fantastic. We had a chocolate chip cake with chocolate mouse filling and butter cream frosting.

The top layer of the cake was not included in the slice count so we cannot wait to have some on our first anniversary! 

I would DEFINITELY recommend Kim’s Cottage Confections!!

Delicious and stunning! Our guests are raving about our cake from Kim's. It wasn't the typical white cake with white frosting - Kim gave us lots of choices, and we went with an applesauce spice cake with walnut butter cream frosting. AMAZING! The perfect, unexpected wedding treat! It tasted like fall, which is exactly what we wanted.
Kim also took our special cake topper and placed it on the cake perfectly. She listens to what you want, and then makes it even better.

Our wedding cake was probably one of my favorite things about the day. Kim's Cottage Confections had AMAZING flavors for their cakes and it was delicious! We decided to eat our cake topper immediately because it was so good and we are going to order another small cake next year on our first anniversary with the same flavors. Best cake I have ever had! The price was included with our vendor, I can't really comment on that aspect, but whatever it is it is worth it.

We had two options the pick from for our wedding at the Riverhouse and let me say that I am sooooo glad that Kim's Cottage Confections was one of them. WOW! They were so amazing to work with and design our cake jsut to the specifications that we wanted.
When we went for our tasting we were impressed with all the different combinations and the tastes of them all. I'm a peanut butter freak and noticed they had a peanut butter mousse that wasn't in our sample. I mentoned this and Kim proceeded to whip up a small bowl of it, I proceeded to eat the entire contents of said bowl :-)
The cake turned out beautiful and delcious. I can't wait to have more on our 1 year anniversary.

We had originally chosen Masicatto's out of Hartford to do our cake and had such a terrible experience with them that we were overjoyed when our ceremony and reception vendor suggested Kim's! She listened to all of our ideas an wants and helped us to create the cake of our dreams!!!! It was so beautiful and it tasted even better than it looked!!! We could not have asked for a better cake vendor!! Kim was very helpful and open about her ideas and the things she could actually complete. She did not try to push us into any design or flavor we did not want, she made us feel special and that it was all about us! It was nice to work with someone who actually cared about what we wanted not just someone trying to make a profit!!

I did not interact with the owner but I did have a sit down meeting with one of her staff who went over all our information with my husband and I and they did a great job tailoring the cake exactly how we wanted it. I was surprised at how many choices I had in terms of shape of the cake, design and embellishments. Kim had a ton of pictures and sample cakes, making it very easy to decide on what we wanted. We ended up going with a fairly simple cake but we did a different shape for the base and put a "T" monogram on it. Our florist added some flowers and it looked great at the wedding. The flavors were delicious and there were also a lot of options on that as well. She did a complimentary grooms cake which turned out great. You can't beat their price and the quality you get is quite good. I would highly recommend Kim.

We actually went with cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake and Kim's Cottage Confections really did a fantastic job. I gave Kim pictures of exactly what I wanted and that is what I got. When we went to talk with her we got 7 cupcake samples to try. Who doesn't love free dessert? It was so hard to choose beacause all the flavors were so good.

Kim created a small cutting cake and cupcakes for our May 2016 wedding and they were wonderful! our consultation with one of her associates was fun and easy. She took my vision and ran with it and we were incredibly happy with the results. Her prices can't be beat and she was really easy to work with. Our cupcakes were delicious - we had funfetti, double chocolate and lemon with a fruit filling. Would definitely use her for other events!

Kim's cakes are the best! So moist and flavorful and the variety we were able to have at our wedding is something we haven't seen before. We had 3 different types at our wedding and had both cake and cupcakes. Kim was willing to work with us to create the perfect cake and really knows what she is talking about. Her recommendations were perfect and we ended up with the perfect wedding cake that we still receive complements on over a year later.

We would recommend her to anyone looking for the perfect cake for their big day.

My wedding was held at the Society Room of Hartford, so I opted to have Kim's Cottage Confections provide my cake through the package option. I am so pleased that I chose Kim's!

The cake was just what I wanted--elegant and simple, and so fresh! My husband and I had a 4-layer cake with alternating layers of espresso cake with espresso mousse and apple spice cake with vanilla mousse, and it was so delicious!

My only small complaint--and it's minor! We saved the top of the cake to observe the tradition of eating it on our first anniversary, but due to the massive power outage at the beginning of November, we ended eating it on our 1-month anniversary so we wouldn't have to throw it out. At the tasting, I had requested that the top layer of the cake be the espresso with espresso mousse, since it was my favorite. When we cut the top to eat it, we discovered that it was the apple spice cake instead, but both varieties were so tasty it doesn't really matter :-) It just gives me an excuse to order another cake from them for a birthday or anniversary!

The cake Kim made for us was not only gorgeous but delicious, She listened to our requests and made it classy with sparkle. I loved Kim's Cottage Confections. I went through my venue to get them (Pavilion on Crystal Lake), so I was really wary at first. I thought they wouldn't be that good of quality, since it was through the venue. I could not have been more wrong! I went by myself for the tasting (husband did not care at all about the cake, and my mom was out of state), and the woman I met with was very nice and let me try samples of many different kinds of cake. She was professional and kind. The location itself was not very impressive, but the cake was good! I ordered cupcakes for my wedding. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I was supposed have "pearls" (little icing dots) around the bride's cake (which I always wanted, because I think they're beautiful), but they forgot to put them on, so the top cake looked very plain. However, the cupcakes were absolutely AMAZING. They always put a layer of something in the cake or cupcakes- a fruit layer, mousse layer, etc- and I had the fruit in my cupcakes. I thought it was amazing. My mother-in-law ended up paying for the cupcakes, and she didn't like them because they were a little small and the fruit fell to the bottom of the cupcakes. She called KCC and complained, and they offered a free cake for a birthday or any other celebration. I thought this was great. I didn't really have any complaints, but I thought it was great that they offered something to my mother-in-law who wasn't completely satisfied. They were pretty well priced, and they waited for me to turn in my final guest count to the venue, and only charged me for as many cupcakes as guests I had (my final guest count was given only about 5 days before the wedding, so this was very flexible!)

I can not say enough about Kim. I have used her for tons of events and used her for our grooms cake and cookies for our 10pm cookie and milk service. (Our wedding cake was included in the package and I should have just paid to have ours done by Kim as we were disappointed in our cake vendor)\r\nHer prices are amazingly reasonable. Grooms cake $150. 120 Giant cookies $85. She does lack in response, however I did mention this to her and she says she\'s working to change it.

Moist and refreshing lemon cake.

Our venue had a contract with 2 bakers and after sampling both we chose Kim. We went with a lemon cake with strawberry creme filling which was perfect for our summer wedding. It was moist and refreshing. The design was simple yet elegant which was exactly what I had envisioned. Although, Kim didn’t offer too many options compared to the other baker, each selection she provided made our tastebuds happier. We made our decision based on taste first, design second. We saw a design in her shop that we liked and asked her to design our cake based on that one but using our color palette. It turned out better than we expected. Few things that would’ve made the experience better, would’ve been a larger selection of flavors and more responsiveness in the beginning of the planning process.

We loved our wedding cake from Kim's Cottage Confections. The cake tasting was DELICIOUS - she gave my mom and I 6 cakes to try with 6 different fillings and they were all fantastic. Kim has a great variety of cake flavors - even the 6 we tried were only 1/3 of the available flavors she has. We went with a 4 tier cake, with two different flavors. Both the carrot cake with cream cheese filling and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse were outstanding, but we got a TON of compliments on the chocolate cake. We ended up replicating a cake we saw in Kim's show room because we thought it was so beautiful and Kim replicated it perfectly. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kim and our cake was wonderful.

Kim's Cottage Confections made the most beautiful cake for our August wedding. We used the Martha Stewart "Eyelet Fabric" cake as inspiration and designed a gorgeous 4 tier cake.
The butter cream detailing was extensive and impressive. The cake itself was delicious.

We had so an after party following the reception and the cake was eaten there too!
Kim, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. She was always available to answer questions, respond to emails and down-to-earth. Her personal touches and calm demeanor made wedding planning a "piece of cake".

We used Kim's cottage confections for our June wedding at the Riverhouse in Haddam, CT. The cake was absolutely delicious! My only gripe was that we paid extra for colorful Plumeria flowers to be added to the cake, and were really disappointed in the amount of flowers (there was only about 10), and coloration. We wanted bight, bold orange, pink and yellows, and got boring pastel colors. If you are going for taste over appearance, then Kim's is a good choice.

Our cake was DELICIOUS! Kim's made a three layer cake for us, each with a different layer, and each layer was great. Most weddings I've been to the cake is usually kind of dry and I think when you're working with that kind of size, it gets a little tricky and the taste is compromised and to be honest, I basically assumed that all cakes were that way and that ours would be to, but not so! The cake was deliciously moist and the frosting was just right.
And I of course can't forget about the design--it was gorgeous! Just as I had hoped it would be and we planned for. Very impressive!

SHe met with us to discuss ideas for designs and flavors, and we got to taste some of her most popular cake types and then again after we pickewe wanted. She was very professional, and everything turned out great! She does a wonderful job and has fair rates.

Kim is definitely talented! We worked with a caterer who used Kim in their package price so we were a little nervous at first, but Kim'm desserts were a nice surprise! We had a 2-tier cake with 3 different kinds of cupcakes. While my husband and I weren't able to have any cupcakes the night of our wedding, we did enjoy some the following morning and they were amazing! Our guests have not stopped talking about how good the cupcakes were!

I will say that my cake from Kim's was included in my package through my venue. I contacted Kim to do a tasting and had some trouble schedulding as I lived out of the state, but we were able to meet. Kim was very helpful with different designs to choose from and selecting the flavors. We were able to find something that worked for us and was delicious.

I rated middle of the road because I actually didn't have much interaction with the cake maker since it was included in my wedding package. The cake was delish, the little bite I got of it. It looked beautiful and was great. I do have to say I thought it was a round cake, but day of we got a square cake...I am not a picky bride so I don't really care, it still looked great! Just a warning to those who might be more concerned about their cake than me.

Had our wedding at the Barns at Wesleyan and used this vendor to provide a cake which was primarily for display and not as the main dessert. Thank goodness because it did not taste great. It did come out looking just as I wanted and served its purpose for display and cutting. The vendor was not very quick to respond to emails, had to email a few times before getting thorough responses. To be fair, since this was a cake provided not as main dessert there may not have been such a priority on customer service.

Did not deliver what was expected

Spent a lot of money on the cake and chocolate covered strawberries that I found on her website. The strawberries were decorated like brides and grooms. She delivered strawberries with stripes. Nothing special at all and not what I ordered. My cake has very minimal decoration. Very disappointed. Would not recommend

I hated my cake. I wanted intricate details, even brought pictures to the meeting. The problem was I didn't meet with the person who was actually going to be doing the cake. I met with a part-timer who took notes. My vision did not get across to the person decorating the cake because it was horrible. What upset me the most is it obviously looked bad so why didn't the decorator see that it looked bad and add something to it.

I would NOT recommend this bakery to anyone! For my wedding cake, after being in the venue for about 2 hours, the cake topper fell off because it wasn't placed on the cake correctly. One side of the cake was ruined.

Then a couple months later, my brother got married and decided to go here because to be honest, the actual cake flavors were good. When he cut into the cake, only one of the three layers were the correct flavors. He contacted the owner and told her what happened and all she had to say was that the flavors that were in the cake "were the ones they ordered". Did not apologize at all.

This year, I celebrated my one year anniversary. I emailed the bakery to see how much the cakes would cost and if I could order one. My anniversary is in July and I emailed her with the flavors on May 27th. Me being the OCD person that I am, called the week before I needed the cake to make sure she had received my information. When I called, she picked up the phone, acted like she never received my email, and asked for the order again. Never once did she ask me for my name, phone number, or email. She told me it had to be picked up on Friday because she was only going to be in the shop on Saturday to make an important delivery. I fortunately got out of work early so I was able to make it before their closing time of 5pm. I drove the 45 minutes to Durham to pick up the cake to find out that she did not have it made. She LIED straight to my face about when I needed to pick the cake up and said it was going to be ready for Saturday. I explained what was told to me on the phone and she said it was made but not frosted. I told her to forget the cake because I was unable to make it back to pick it up.

She not only messed up my wedding cake, my brother's wedding cake, AND my one year anniversary cake, but she lied to my face about what SHE told me on the phone. Honestly, the cake was good, but you can get the same flavors at a different bakery with better attitudes and better customer service. DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY!

I wouldn't recommend Kim's Cottage Confections to my worst enemy.

The cake itself was okay, but the service was mind blowingly horrible and her unapologetic attitude about it was what was even worse.

Here's the breakdown:

The consultation went smoothly and she seemed nice enough. The price was totally reasonable. That's where the good news ends.

SHE recommended since we were getting such a small cake that she should also make a anniversary cake for us, instead of keeping the top tier. I though, "What a cute idea!" and gave her the go-ahead for that. When she delivered the cake there was no mini-anniversary cake, but I was getting married and didn't really have any time to fight that fight, so when I realized the next day, I called her and she denied that it was part of our contract. It is, and I still have a copy to prove it. She told me I was confused. Which seems pretty impossible since SHE wrote up the contract, and SHE wrote that an anniversary cake would be included and it was HER idea and we paid for it. It seemed to me SHE was confused, and blatantly unapologetic for the mess up.

Also, she was late delivering the cake, so my wedding planner had to stay at the reception site to wait and make sure the delivery actually happened, and missed out on taking care of a few key things at the ceremony site because of her tardiness.

And finally, I distinctly asked that it not be on a cardboard base wrapped in foil - which is also noted on the contract - and lo and behold! it was on a nasty cardboard round covered in wrinkly foil.

It was a nightmare, she was unprofessional, and still, two years later it makes me cringe a little to think that I paid this woman to ruin a sort of pivotal part of the wedding reception experience.

My wedding was October 12, 2013. At the very beginning of this year I met with a representative from Kim's cottage confection. At the time I wasn't sure exactly what I had wanted. We did a rough estimate of what the cake would look like. Shortly after that I emailed Kim a picture of a cake I found and gave her details as to what I would like my cake to have. My cake was to be a 4 tier cake with grey ribbons, edible bling, and purple calla lillies cascading down. 3 days before my wedding Kim asked me to again email her the picture. Now the picture was only showing her the lay out of the cake, so once again I gave instructions on what needed to be done differently to my cake. The day of my wedding I received a cake that was completely white. No calla lillies. No grey bows. No edible bling. This cake was boring, and looked cheasy. It had white bows with the strings of cheap looking bling that she uses on most of her cakes. My guests even commented on how corny the cake looked and were shocked to think I would actually order something like this. The day after my wedding I nicely asked Kim why was it that I ended up with this cake. She blamed me saying I did not keep in contact and she had deleted every email I had ever sent her describing what my cake was to look like. She has no customer service skills what so ever. She never apologized for ruining my dream cake nor did she offer any money back. This woman is rude and has no business making wedding cakes. DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR BUSINESS, SHE WILL ONLY RUIN EVERYTHING! Kim, I hope you are reading these comments because you should be ashamed of yourself

I contacted Kim close to a year before my wedding and asked if she would be able to help me with my wedding favors. I was looking for approx. 115 star shaped cookies....nothing too crazy, right? I live out of state and tried to set up 2 separate meeting with her AHEAD OF TIME for when I was going to be back in town. She more or less blew me off both times. I felt it was extremely unprofessional and rude. Finally, a few months before the wedding, I had to scramble and come up with a Plan B, since Kim obviously had no intention of meeting with me. I would NOT recommend this vendor, especially for anything to do with wedding planning!
