Nothing short of perfect
We would recommend Kenilworth Assembly Hall to anyone looking for a wedding reception venue. Michelle was an absolute pleasure to work with - even from the first email responding to our inquiry she had tons of information for us to look over. She is very organized and full of ideas which definitely helps make the planning process easier!
For potential wedding pictures - the surrounding area is nothing short of beautiful. There is a lovely fountain out front and a park with benches that are perfect for pictures. There is also the Kenilworth Metra Station for any guests wanting to come by train and has a wonderful sign for more pictures. Kenilworth beach is only about a 10 minute walk as well.
For the venue - we had around 100 guests and were still able to have plenty of space for a cocktail area with high tops and a dance floor. We selected the Dignified liquor package and everyone was pleased with the selection. In addition, Michelle knew the person that we were working with at the catering company by name which shows how vested she is in providing a wonderful experience. She coordinated with the caterer and everything was seamless so that we had nothing to do on the day of the reception and we could just take everything in and enjoy!Kenilworth Assembly Hall's reply:
It was our pleasure to work with you and your family Lizbeth! We are thrilled your day was so magical and that we were a part of making it so special! Lots of love! -

Absolutely perfect
We could not have found a more perfect venue for our wedding on July 12, 2025. From the moment we showed up for our tour and met with Monique, we knew Kenilworth was the place for us. The venue is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained, yet the pricing and contract requirements are completely reasonable and fair. We felt comfortable and at home from that very first visit. We also found an excellent caterer (Catered by Design) from their preferred catering list. Monique was a dream to work with--so organized and punctual yet laid-back and flexible. We received so many compliments on the venue from our guests. While we opted to have both our ceremony and reception indoors, Monique allowed us to open up the lawn and patio to guests for cocktail hour, which was absolutely stunning and a huge hit. I would recommend Kenilworth to anyone looking for a wedding venue! -

Historic and Understated Elegance
We had our wedding reception at the Kenilworth Assembly Hall and could not be more pleased. From the beginning to the end, the communication and friendly assistance with Michelle was consistent. The venue is lovely, intimate and cozy. We found the bar area and outside patio to be a perfect complement to the dining room. The location of the KAH is outstanding near downtown Evanston and Wilmette which offered many options for dining and lodging for our guests. Kenilworth Assembly Hall is a jewel on the North Shore and would highly recommend.Kenilworth Assembly Hall's reply:
You and your entire family were such a pleasure to work with! It was a spectacular wedding. Lots of love to the happy couple! -

Two weeks ago, we had a gorgeous wedding at the Kenilworth Assembly Hall. The venue was classy and all around beautiful. Michelle was great to work with. She was available and answered my many questions patiently. I highly recommend it.Kenilworth Assembly Hall's reply:

Decker-Araujo wedding.
They were very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible from the outset. They recommended other vendors that were equally as good. The price was also very reasonable. They adapted to all the changes required by the COVID pandemic with grace and flexibility, and had quick solutions to our last minute tech changes. Michelle was great to work with, and she is the person I would ask for should you choose to talk to this venue. The facility itself was beautiful and added to the experience. All in all it was a great experience. -

Love this venue!
The Kenilworth Assembly Hall was the PERFECT venue for our reception. We fell in love with the history and intimacy of the building right off the bat. The planning process went smoothly with a list of preferred vendors and the flexibility to see the venue when needed. Michelle was absolutely fantastic to work with and we couldn't have been happier with how the day went. And the fact that our 140 guests haven't stopped raving about it as well is just a bonus. 10/10, would recommend!! -

Beautiful and unique space with charm and warmth! Amazingly high ceilings, beautiful outdoor area, separate cocktail room with fireplace. The venue hosts only one event at a time so you get the entire club to yourself! Great staff - easy to work with! I highly recommend checking this place out for your wedding or any special event! -

We had our wedding at the Kenilworth Club and couldn't have been more pleased with our decision. It is a beautiful venue that is somehow simple and extravagant at the same time. Lisa, the club's director was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process, and gave us lots of advice and suggestions on vendors and general wedding planning, and quickly answering any questions that we had.
Nick is another Kenilworth employee who helps set up and coordinate everything the day of. He was very behind the scenes and modest and did a fantastic job getting everything put exactly as we had imagined.
It is a truly unique and beautiful venue both inside and out. We had our ceremony outside, cocktail hour in and out, and reception in. It is one of a kind and we received so many compliments on it both the day of and long after.
Everyone at the club is also very attentive to detail. The outside looked flawless on our wedding day, they had a small piano tuned the day before just for good measure, and helped with other small touches as well.
All in all, working with the Kenilworth Club was a breeze and I would recommend it as a wedding venue to anyone looking for a venue different than your typical country club where you can truly make it your own. -

We found the Kenilworth Club after losing our original venue with only eight weeks to go. Lisa was wonderful, calm, assuring and incredibly helpful. The venue was beautiful and even worked well for our small wedding of 60 people. In the end, it worked out even better than our original plan would have! -

The Kenilworth Club was the perfect venue for my wedding reception. It is a beautiful historic building with many interesting architectural details. The layout of the space worked well for my group of 200 guests and overall I got many comments on how elegant and warm the party felt.
Lisa Lauren was a pleasure to work with during my reception planning process. She was always helpful and professional and I felt that I could trust her opinions and advice. -

Lisa at the Kenilworth Club was absolutely wonderful to work with. The venue was beautiful and very unique. We worked with vendors recommended by Lisa and had positive experiences with them all, particularly our caterer, Hel's Kitchen. I would 100% recommend having your wedding at the Kenilworth Club. We have no regrets and a lot of wonderful memories. -

It was a great venue because it was so private. The grounds are beautiful. It's easy, plentiful and FREE parking for your guests. The train is right there for those who want a ride back to the city. Depending on who your caterers are you can supply your own liquor which is a huge savings. -

We had our wedding reception at the Kenilworth Club in September 2009. We couldn't have picked a better place. I would rate it higher than 5 if I could. Lisa and the staff were incredible professional and extremely helpful when it came to answering all of my questions and dealing with any concerns that popped up along the way. This place is a hidden gem along the North Shore and our reception photos are absolutely gorgeous in the extremely spacious ballroom with the windows and chandeliers. -

Lisa was lovely to work with, as was the gentleman (Nick) who assisted us with setup and cleanup.
Beautiful venue with high ceilings and lots of gorgeous wood and stained glass details. A great size for a reception of about 100 or less (100 might be a little crowded but could fit-- we had 65 with plenty of room to spare leaving one whole end of the venue for cocktail and photo booth area).
Lisa worked directly with several of our vendors (photobooth, DJ, caterer) to arrange a number of the details and was EXTREMELY helpful recommending vendors for a number of services, including nearby places for us to have our "Rehearsal Lunch."
Quite happy with our experience with the Kenilworth Club-- the only reason I took off a tiny bit on flexibility is that it's a historic venue so there are a few very reasonable limitations on decorating, etc. But definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a mid-size, elegant, friendly-feeling venue north of Chicago! -

We discovered the Kenilworth Club after a friend of a friend got married there. Two major perks of the Kenilworth Club for us were the option to have parts of the event outside (we did both the ceremony and the cocktail hour on the lawn) and to be able to choose our own caterer (see my glowing review of the Hearty Boys). Another perk that we didn't initially consider before choosing the Kenilworth Club is that they have all the tables and place settings most people would need so you don't need to worry about renting those later on.
The inside is beautiful, a kind of refined rustic almost. The ballroom is fairly large and there's a stage for your dj/band to play on. It was newly renovated in the past few years, so the bathrooms and the rest of the club house are very nice as well. Lisa was extremely helpful, especially when it came to choosing our caterer. She was very candid about which of the club's associated caterers are more professional, more of a value, more flexible, etc so we ended up very happy with our selection (thanks Lisa!). -

Beautiful Space for a Wedding
Kenilworth Assembly Hall was a great place to have a wedding and everyone had a wonderful time in this beautiful space. It was nice that our guests could wander through the outdoor space and sit on the patio during cocktail hour as well as spend time inside.
Michelle was an absolute joy to work with as she answered our questions through email very quickly. Our bartender was very professional and kept our guests' glasses full all night long. I would recommend this place to everyone. -

Wonderful reception venue!
We had our wedding reception at KAH on 7/16/22, and we had a blast! It’s a pretty spot, especially if you appreciate arts and crafts/prairie style/historic architecture. It feels vintage and pretty but still contemporary, given its somewhat minimalist character. The chandeliers have been replaced with modern ones in the past few years, and they match the space so well. you can pay to have additional lighting hung, as well.
We had about 120 guests, seated mostly at long tables with 2 round, with the head table along the north windows and the dance floor in the middle in front of the head table. We found that to be a comfortable number of folks, though you could definitely fit more, especially if you sat the head table on the stage.
We worked with Michelle, who was awesome! KAH is a professional place that offers free community events - you can come visit the hall after hours during those events, and Michelle was available to meet between 9 and 6. She was very responsive and helpful, including over email. She gave us a tour, helped us plan our seating chart, and walked through day-of details with us at our final meeting with the caterer. KAH only works with certain caterers, but we used Jordan Food of Distinction, which was excellent.
When we rented, we found that if we wanted to set up the night before, we’d have to pay a fee to rent the place that night, which may be typical for all venues. KAH kindly let us store our decor in their office the day before, and our day-of wedding coordinator did the setup. It worked great! They also charged us $500 extra for us to have our guests play cornhole on the lawn, which wasn’t ideal, but it is a pretty space and well worth it. We had an ice cream truck pull up on the driveway to the back door, which was really fun and convenient.
Overall we recommend KAH! Thanks Michelle!-

The Kenilworth Club was the perfect venue for our June wedding reception! When we first saw it, we knew it was exactly what we wanted. It was intimate enough to feel warm and inviting but large enough to comfortably fit our 180 guests. The history and architecture of the building is rich and creates an understated beauty in a wedding reception. Staff is easy to work with and laid back. We were able to visit the venue a number of times for planning purposes which was extremely helpful. They have a list of preferred vendors which were also amazing as we used a couple of their recommendations. I would absolutely recommend this venue! -

I cannot tell you what a visually beautiful, stress-free and enjoyable experience it was to have my daughter's reception at The Kenilworth Club in Kenilworth, Illinois. The building itself has a beautiful fireplace with candle nitches, a large dance floor, gorgeous windows and chandeliers. Perfect for photos outside and in. But the real gem was the choice of vendors and Lisa the coordinator for the club. She accommodated us in EVERY way from setting up an oxygen machine and keeping a cooler room temperature. The building is really handicap accessible and they even had a comfortable place for disabled guests to rest if needed. The suggested vendor list was perfect for any budget. The one we chose (not the most pricey), was exceptional! The appetizers kept coming! Yummy! The main course was delicious, hot and not steam table soggy at all.... everything wonderfully fresh. Even though it was buffet style after each course the tables were cleared ready for the next course. It seemed as though we had full service. We had a Fall themed wedding and it was perfectly set up when we arrived. We brought everything in boxes with instructions for each table setup and between the food vendors and the florist they understood everything and just did it! Highly recommended for a really great wedding. We had so many people saying it was the most fun they'd had at a wedding in a long time. Carla Belniak

The Kenilworth Club provided a great space for our wedding. We held both the ceremony and the reception there and it turned out better than I could of imagined. We had a little over 100 people and easily and comfortably fit everyone in the reception hall. The club has a lot of charm and looks absolutely amazing. Lisa was incredible to work with and was very accommodating. I could not of asked for a better place to have had a wedding. -

Lisa Lauren was delightful to work with. She was very accommodating when we brought our band leader to see the the space and she referred an excellent caterer and wedding coordinator. The dining room/dance floor and stage/lighting were excellent and the separate reception area with wood-burning fireplace and bar made it an ideal space. -

We got married at the Kenilworth Club in August 2009, and we loved it. We really wanted an outdoor wedding, and the Kenilworth Club lawn/garden was really pretty, had plenty of room for our guests and was one of the more affordable outdoor venues in the Chicago area. We also loved the charm of the inside. Everyone could be in the same room for dinner and dancing, but the older guests who didn't necessarily want to party on the dance floor all night could go across to the other room where the bar was, sit on a couch and still watch everything that was going on. Also, the beach is only a few blocks away, and there's a cute little public park and garden which has beautiful flowers and a little fountain where we took pictures.
Lisa at the Kenilworth Club was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is laid back and helpful, and she is always there personally on the day of the wedding to make sure that everything goes ok. We didn't have a wedding planner, so we really relied on Lisa and our caterer to help us keep track of things and make decisions. I also loved that we could choose any caterer and provide our own drinks. We saved a ton of money buying our own bar drinks.
The only thing is...definitely check the train schedule! The Metra station is only half a block from the Kenilworth Club. We had checked the schedule in advance so no trains stopped at the station, but we hadn't paid attention to the express trains that don't stop at the station but do go by (and so the warning lights and sounds go on), so that was not ideal during the ceremony. The good news is that the station is really pretty and was a cool spot for pictures too.

We had our wedding at the Kenilworth Club, and it was absolutely beautiful. The hall doesn't look like much and we weren't too impressed when we first walked in, but when the manager at the time (Lisa Lauren) turned on the lights for us, we fell in love with the place. It's a historical building, with hardwood floors, and I know that it was recently reverted to its historical colors, and goodness, when the lights come on, it's got a fantastic warm, welcoming feel to it. Rustic and classy. The grounds are well maintained, with tall trees, flowers, and is perfect for pictures (also, the Metra station across the street makes for very pretty pictures too!). Everyone kept asking me how I found the place, how beautiful it was, etc.
Everyone that we worked with was very friendly, especially Nick. There were a few miscommunications, and sometimes delays on email responses, but they've recently had a change in management. The only reason I gave them a lower score was due to their flexibility; they're only open from 11am-2pm on most days, and my fiance and I were lucky enough to have odd work hours, otherwise, it definitely would have been a problem trying to coordinate meetings and such. Also, with decorations, due to the historical nature of the Kenilworth Club, you cannot use any tape, tacks, nails, glitter, rice, sand to decorate. It wasn't a problem for us, but if you want a glitter cannon at the wedding, it's something to be aware of.
We loved the Kenilworth Club, and would recommend it for those couples looking to have a rustic feeling wedding without having to travel too far outside the city. -

Overall, we were very satisfied with the venue as both a wedding and reception site. Our caterer liked working in this kitchen. -
