Working with Compass Studios was one of the best wedding-planning decisions we made, and we would recommend them to anyone. Katie was flexible, responsive, and very easy to work with every step of the way. She also went above and beyond to accommodate our sparkler exit without us having to add on additional time, which she did not have to do but we really appreciated. On the wedding day, hanging out with Katie and Ryan felt like spending time with our friends, which is such an important part of choosing a photographer. And last but certainly not least, our photos and video turned out STUNNING, and we got them in record time. If we could do it all over again, we would choose Compass every time. -

Compass came recommended as a preferred vendor for videography and after working with them, it’s no wonder why! Katie is quick on the administrative tasks and explaining options, and Ryan beautifully captured our microwedding. We were given the opportunity to request edits to our wedding video, which we received ahead of schedule, but it was so beautifully done we didn’t need to change a thing. We’re looking forward to watching our ceremony every year on our anniversary and are so grateful for all the footage we received. 10/10! -

I cannot recommend Compass Studios enough - I had the BEST experience working with Katie and Ryan. From start to finish, Katie was so incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease throughout the entire process, and their warm approach truly added to the joy of our wedding day. It felt like we had been friends for years!!
I knew they were going to be the best right away during my introduction call with Katie. She was so down to earth and wonderful to bounce ideas off of - from deciding where to shoot the engagement session, down to the detailed timeline, she was more instrumental in planning than our coordinator. Throughout the whole planning process, she was so responsive and helpful, and made such a difference!
I knew that I was going to love their style after the engagement session - she helped us relax but gave the right amount of direction we needed - it was such a fun time that I'll always look back on. Additionally, Katie sent SO many amazing pictures in such a short amount of time - it's clear how hard they work after the sessions to make sure your experience is perfect.
For our wedding day, it was extremely windy which made me feel flustered at first- but Katie and Ryan melted away the stress just by their presence - they were so calm and collected while finding creative ways to get the right shots. The photographs are absolutely stunning—every moment was captured beautifully, with such attention to detail and artistry. I was especially impressed by the photos from the reception dance floor - their quality was amazing and truly captured the energy of everyone being on the dance floor the entire time!!! They didn’t just take pictures; they told the story of our day in the most elegant and heartfelt way. Lastly, they went out of their way to send so many sneak peak photos just after 2 DAYS!! It's so clear how much they genuinely care about you even after the big day.
If you’re looking for photographers who combine exceptional talent with genuine care, we wholeheartedly recommend Compass Studios. They exceeded all our expectations and gave us memories we’ll cherish forever. We cannot thank and recommend them enough!!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Katie and Ryan capture our wedding this past September. It rained on our day and my nerves were a wreck, but they were calm, patient, and so comforting. I had a long list of photos I wanted on the property, and even with the weather challenges, Katie and Ryan managed to capture everything and more!
They were incredibly communicative, fun to work with, and somehow organized the chaos around us with complete calmness. Throughout the night, they even checked in to make sure we got those extra special dance floor shots we’ll cherish forever.
It’s true what they say, the right vendors can make or break your day, and choosing Compass Studios was one of the best decisions we made. We genuinely felt like we were spending the day with friends, not vendors. Their professionalism shined through every moment, and their talent truly shows in the photos and video, which are absolutely unreal.

Katie and Ryan were amazing in all aspects! From the initial conversation with Katie, I knew we were going to choose Compass Studious; her laid back demeanor (and portfolio, of course) is what initially drew me in but I didn’t know how much I would need it on the day of our wedding. No one tells you what to expect from the time of getting ready to the start of ceremony—it’s chill and you feel you have enough time, and then all of a sudden 2 hours before the ceremony, it’s chaos. I was so overwhelmed by the hustle of it all but they had the PERFECT balance between not being overbearing and also getting everything done.
Their work speaks for itself but their expertise behind the lens is unmatched—it didn’t feel like we took a long time getting the photos taken, yet they all came back so beautiful; quick and easy which allowed us to be back to celebrate with our guests. During our first call, I had a vision of having a champagne spray exit and asked Katie if that was something they had ever done before or was open to it. She excitedly agreed and the pictures turned out AMAZING! They worked so well with our videographers too. A true dream team.
If you are in the midst of wedding planning, you NEED Compass Studios on your team of vendors. I promise you will NOT regret it! I look forward to working with Katie and Ryan for other milestones in our life. -

Highly recommended!
I only have great things to say about the services we got from Compass Studios. The coordination and organization leading up to the event was clear and easy, and they were very accessible with any questions I had. We got the Associate & Rose Gold photo/video package with Emily as our photographer, and due to a substitution we were lucky enough to get Ryan as our videographer. I had been nervous about photo/video being too conspicuous and people being self conscious but this team is invisible!! The shots are beautiful and we all felt comfortable to be our natural candid selves during the day.
I was also stunned by how fast they turned around the pictures- I got my sneak peek the very next day, and the entire library five weeks later! Now after the wedding, my husband and I are glad we got the video too so we can relive the best day of our lives. -

We found Compass Studios on our venue's preferred vendor’s list and we are so glad that we did. We reached out to Compass Studios and decided to go with the silver package and were assigned to Andrew. Andrew was so much fun to work with! He has a great sense of humor and made us immediately feel at ease. We truly enjoyed spending our wedding day with him. We received our video and raw wedding footage a few weeks later. Our video was beautiful and the raw footage was so much fun to watch. We will cherish this video forever. -

Ryan and Katie are a husband wife duo for photography and videography. A few months before the wedding we decided to capture the day with a videographer. While chatting with Katie we were lucky enough to find out that Ryan was available to film our wedding day. He was very easy to work with and very much out of the way throughout everything. He had great attention to detail of his footage and ensured that all the important things were captured. It has been amazing to look back on the footage he provided. These memories are truly priceless and I can’t imagine my wedding day without them. Whether videography or photography I definitely recommend investing with them. -

Working with Compass Studios was a highlight in our wedding planning experience. They were extremely professional, great with communication, and just lovely to work with. Ryan was our videographer the day of our wedding and he had such a great energy about him, was efficient, and flexible. We're not big "picture people" but we felt so comfortable and at ease thanks to his guidance and enthusiasm. The final highlight video perfectly captured so many of our favorite moments from the day. A big reason why I chose Compass Studios was because I could book a package that included raw footage from the day, which I found was not the norm. This has already come in handy, allowing us to share our first dance video with my sister-in-law who was taking care of her son and missed the live version! I highly recommend Compass Studios! -

Katie and Ryan captured our wedding day perfectly. They were responsive to every email and question and gave us recommendations for other vendors (some of which we ended up using and were thrilled with!). They made me and my husband (who both can be pretty awkward in pictures), feel so comfortable behind the camera. They had our sneak peek pictures back to us the day after our wedding and sent the rest of our pictures to us a few weeks before we were expecting! They captured all of the amazing candid moments of our wedding, which was exactly what we wanted. They also did an incredible job working with the natural light outside and finding the perfect spots for all of the more "staged" photos. I could not recommend them more! -

Amazing Videography!
We’re so happy that we hired Compass Studios!! It’s so fun and emotional to re-live all of the special moments (including those we didn’t even notice or remember in the craziness of the day!) and to see our loved ones enjoying the day. We will truly cherish the footage forever.
Andrew was our day-of videographer. He was a calm, professional and positive presence. He made everyone feel comfortable, and worked very well with our photographer. He managed to capture all of the important moments, like the first kiss and personal vows (the audio was super clear despite breezy weather), and also the little moments like my grandpa seeing me in my dress and our little niece dancing with her dad. The quality of their work and service is excellent! -

Epic Pictures & Videos!
Hiring our wedding photographer and videographer was one of the most important decisions about our event and we treated it as such. Having our wedding away from our home country without all our family we knew we had to preserve the memories of the day so everyone could enjoy it with us, even if they couldn’t come celebrate with us on the day-of.
We took a good amount of time to learn and speak with many providers, reviewed their contracts (this was essential to us!), learned their style and visualized them at our wedding. Wedding photography/ videography is an investment and we had to make sure we’re investing where our visions align and with a company who would capture our personalities and reflect our love for each other.
Simply put, COMPASS STUDIOS IS THE BEST! We booked Compass Studios for their ultimate Photo Video Package which included a photographer for 8-hrs, a second photographer for 4-hrs and a videographer for 8-hrs. They are extremely professional and a great team which we believe is one of their biggest strengths, besides having a great eye and creative ideas. Katie and Ryan make you feel like you are family and they are seamlessly there recording the occasion, making sure no detail is left, taking every opportunity for a great shot or footage.
We first met Katie for our engagement session a few months before the wedding, and it was a pretty spontaneous idea as we thought we didn’t want it at first since we’re camera shy. It ended up being a great decision because first, it was really fun – Katie was open to meet us for an early sunrise session – and second, we also got practice for the wedding, finding out what poses we liked and what we had to hone on.
Our wedding was crushed by a tropical storm and despite the rain, Katie, Ryan and their associate photographer were all great sports, ready to go in the rain and to still give us the dreamy views of the vineyard. When the weather didn’t permit for a certain shot setup we originally planned for, they offered us other ideas and made sure we utilized our winery venue and its surroundings to the fullest. We have some unique pictures that others with sunny weddings don’t get and thanks to Compass Studios we wouldn’t want things differently. Now when we have our photos and videos – and they are out of this world! – we feel honored a tropical storm rained good luck to our marriage and that Compass Studios helped us realize it and appreciate the uniqueness of the day (because before your wedding happens, who wants or counts on a rainy day).
Now when we had our engagement session and our wedding captured by Compass Studios, we can’t wait to continue our beautiful journey and look forward to the next session we schedule with them. We have the most amazing experience. -

We used compass studios for our wedding video. Erin was super nice, and put up with me being a pain in the butt and changing my mind a dozen times, but I’m 100% satisfied with my video. It makes me happy every time I watch it.
Erin was professional and worked really well with my photographers so that they didn’t get in each others way while capturing all the best shots of the day.
My favorite part is being able to show my grandmother who couldn’t be at the wedding our video so she could feel like she was part of the whole experience. It was such a special day for us and I’m so glad our video captures all of those memories. -

I have edited this review several times, because each time I read it, it doesn't express enough how much we enjoyed working with Katie and Ryan (Compass Studios). So to start, I would say if you are reading this review searching for a photographer and videographer, stop looking, because you've found the team that will capture your wedding day! They are truly professionals and their experience in the wedding industry shines through in so many ways. Prior to the wedding day, Katie and Ryan were easily reached to answer our questions and discuss our vision. They day of the wedding, our timeline was tight and Katie and Ryan were so excellent with keeping the day on track. They made us feel instantly comfortable with them and in front of the camera. We also loved working with their second photographer Vijay! It was awesome to be able to have him with the guys as they got ready before the wedding. Lastly the quality of their work is fantastic. I'm so excited to get our favorite pictures framed, and so glad we have our wedding video to help us cherish the memories of our wedding day. Thank you Katie and Ryan! -

Katie and Ryan captured our day perfectly!
We hired Katie and Ryan about 18 months out from our wedding date. I found them through Instagram, and when Katie heard where we were getting married, she agreed to talk to us because she loved our venue so much! We had a great conversation, and my then fiancé and I knew we had to hire her and her husband Ryan for photo and video. It was a huge plus for us that they were a couple, and used to working together for both photo and video.
We had an engagement shoot with Katie about a year out from our wedding. She was great at directing us into poses, and we used one of the photos for our save the dates!
For the day of our wedding, Katie and Ryan were on point for everything. They knew our timeline/schedule thoroughly, and were so coordinated- capturing candids and posed pictures/moments. They brought a second shooter, Jay, who was so kind when I was a bit anxious about the weather. He also captured some great flower girl shots (which can be hard to get with two very young toddlers/girls!).
At one point, we had finished our couple portraits. We were relaxing for a bit before our reception began, and we learned there was a rainbow outside! We ran outside, and Katie was ready to get an AMAZING picture of us in front of the rainbow- probably one of our favorite pictures we've seen so far!
Katie was so quick to send us sneak peek photos- by 1pm the day after our wedding. They were spectacular, and I can't wait to see the rest of the photos and our wedding video in a few weeks.

Cannot thank Katie & Ryan enough for their collaboration and beautiful work! We went with the photo & video package which is such a good deal, and added an engagement shoot + video teaser.
Katie was more than accommodating when we requested a slightly warmer retouching style for our photos, which turned out beautifully with our fall color palette. I'm so grateful for her flexibility because I know other photographers would not have accommodated this request.
I also shared specific inspiration for an upbeat and fun teaser video that is different from what Katie & Ryan typically do - they didn't hesitate to try something new, and I'm still blown away at they delivered.
Beyond grateful for their collaboration, flexibility and communication, and they helped us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We will cherish their work for many years! -

I could not be happier with my wedding video from Compass Studios! My husband was a little on the fence about hiring a videographer since we had already spent so much on other vendors. We opted for one of the less expensive videography packages and were STUNNED by the results. Erin was a joy to work with on the day of and Katie was excellent to communicate with during the entire process. Everyone will tell you that your wedding day will go by in a blur, but I never believed it. I’m so glad I decided to hire Compass as my videographer because everyone is completely right! The wedding day was magical—and crazy! Watching our video helps me remember all of the joy and love from that day, and it’s so fun to see different moments that I missed while doing other bride things! I also love that we received the raw footage as well, so we can truly have all of our memories from our wedding forever. My husband even told me that he was so glad that I pushed to hired a videographer because the content we received back from Compass was so special. I cannot recommend Katie, Erin, and everyone at Compass studios enough! If you’re looking for a high quality and affordable videography team, look no further! Hiring Katie and Ryan is the best decision we made when booking our wedding vendors. Their style is both modern and timeless. They made us feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera and went out of their way to capture photos that actually felt like “us.” Prior to our wedding day we had an engagement photo shoot which was a great opportunity to meet Katie and Ryan and for them to get to know us better as well. Hiring Katie & Ryan (and their team) was the best decision my husband and I made for our wedding day! Our wedding was originally planned for summer 2020 but was postponed until summer 2021. They were so accommodating and responsive during the whole wedding planning process. They made sure all my questions/concerns were addressed but were not overwhelming me with communication. I didn't have to worry about anything leading up to the wedding day or on the wedding day. They arrived on time and provided the best recommendations for pictures and even brought their own supplies for those detailed shots with my wedding accessories. They were flexible and so fun to be around and interact with during our wedding day. ALL the photos they produced were incredible and the video was perfection. They even sent a sneak peak gallery which we received the day after the wedding. They made sure we were 100% happy with everything and provided instructions on how to download our photos/videos and the best way to print them. I would HIGHLY recommend them to any of my friends and we will definitely be using them in the future to capture other life moments. -

Katie and Ryan made our Wedding experience completely perfect. Not only does their Photo/Video package include complimentary Engagement Photos, they really work with you to make your Wedding as special as possible! The photos & videos were absolutely stunning, delivered in a timely manner, and a great price for the area. One of the things that struck me the most is how I barely remember seeing them on the Wedding Day because they're so good at being able to discreetly capture the most important moments. Great people doing amazing work!
Katie and Ryan left us absolutely speechless for our huge indian/American multi-day multi-cultural wedding! We had the pleasure of working with them for our engagement two years ago and we were absolutely floored by their work. We knew then that we would love to have them shoot our wedding. With the pandemic, we were lucky enough to cultivate a two year relationship with these wonderful humans. Despite all of the changes we added, and multiple cultural requests we had, Katie and Ryan handled everything with such grace and positivity. We knew this was a new experience for them and they went into it with such confidence and reassurance. There was never a time where we doubted their abilities to handle our huge wedding/wedding party! They dealt with multiple location changes, contract updates, and day-of crowd herding, and the work that they put out is absolutely stunning. We are already floored once again by their shots, and all of our guests were raving about their ability to be in so many places at once. Katie and Ryan were truly AMAZING. Every step of the planning process was made so easy by having knowledgeable vendors. Katie was so helpful with our day of timeline. We had 2 engagement shoots with them and they were both so much fun and the photos are beautiful! I can't wait to get the rest of our photos and our video back! -

So much more than a wedding vendor!!
We felt like we clicked with Katie and Ryan even after just looking through their website and learning more about them. As a fellow wedding photographer, I know how important it is to connect with your photographer and videographer and these two made it easy to do that! One common regret I hear from couples is that they wish they had hired a videographer. High quality photography is a no brainer when it comes to your wedding day, but I can't even describe how happy we are that we have the videos Compass Studios created to look back on and show ours kids in the years to come. It is 100% worth the investment! Photography and videography were a priority for us and these two provided us with an incredible experience, and everything we wanted to relive our wedding day. The process from start to finish and even with a postponement in the middle of it (due to COVID of course), was absolutely seamless. Compass Studios was communicative, reliable, extremely personal, and we are still in love with everything they created! The fact that Katie and Ryan offer TWO extremely important services in ONE is rare in the wedding industry and on our wedding day, it felt like having two close friends document it with ease! Both Katie and Ryan were a calming presence from start to finish, through a difficult postponement with many changes, of course on our wedding day, all the way to the joyous day when we received our full gallery! We had to make some major changes within the last month leading up to the wedding and Katie and Ryan had to move around more than originally planned, but they handled it all with ease! First I should say, our friends hired Compass Studios for their wedding video so we saw their quality work before we hired them. We worked with Katie and Ryan before the wedding to create a package that met our needs and budget. They were so great with helping us determine the number of hours, when video would be shot, and any extras (such as sound bytes).
The day of both of our weddings, Katie's brother Andrew was our videographer. He was incredibly friendly and it was easy to get used to his filming. He was able to capture a lot of video, even things we didn't see during the wedding.
The final product included a 10 minute highlight video and raw footage of the whole wedding. We were lucky to have them record two different days then put it into one video. If you are on the fence about a videographer, the money is absolutely worth it with Compass Studios. We are so happy with the final product and we're excited to watch it for years to come. -

Katie and Ryan were incredibly flexible and accommodating throughout the planning process, working with us to find the best option within our budget. And always staying tuned during the craziness of 2020 based on what we were thinking, offering their input and expert advice. Katie was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and patient with any question we had along the way. On top of that she was incredibly responsive, I was shocked at how quick she was to respond to each email with their jam packed schedule! On to our wedding day...Ryan was our videographer for the big day. He was amazing! Flexible with whatever was going on, kind, and fun for us to be around on such a happy day. When working with Compass Studios, they don’t just capture what it looks like, they capture what the moment feels like. When approaching my wedding, Katie asked for the whole love story to figure out who my husband and I are and asked what I was looking for in my precious moment. Honestly, I had no clue what I was looking for (because I’ve never been married before!), so with her expert eye and advice, she helped me narrow down what was important to me for these snapshots in time. With her truly easy communication style, I felt like I was in good hands.
Fast forward to the actual big day where she and Ryan came in with all their gear, set up with such speed and grace, making space for our smiles to be all the more genuine thus capturing the magic. The ease in which this dynamic team found the right lighting, setting and worked within our crazy family made the day effortless. Let me not forget, when capturing the intimate shots during our cocktail hour, they kept us laughing freely and provided the space to allow us to be the goofy, awkward, wild couple that we are.
They delivered more then we could have ever hoped for! I mean, yes we were smiling and totally blissed out from saying “I DO!” but more so, they captured the soul behind each and every one of us. From the photos, to the breath-taking drone footage and videography skills, to the special moments video, we laughed, cried and felt that we truly had the cream of the crop to remember the details of our wedding. The moments captured are all that remains when the day is done. The photos that you hang up in your homes and eventually show your children need to be as perfect as the day. We hired Katie and Ryan to do both the photography and videography for our wedding and they were an absolute pleasure to work with! Before our wedding, we also did an engagement shoot with them and they were so fun and professional to work with. They captured so many beautiful images, we couldn't wait to work with them again on our wedding day! They were on time, we never even noticed them taking photos during the ceremony, and they were great at accommodating on-the-fly photo suggestions. We had a massive wedding party (28 people) and they had no problem keeping track of everyone and keeping an eye on the clock as well. They were also very good at efficiently getting so many different photos! They were both very professional, but were also very fun to have around on the day of our wedding! We have only seen a few sneak peak pictures from our wedding so far, but they are absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to see the rest! We got the gold package, so we worked with the head honchos Katie & Ryan. I feel like I threw a lot at them over email, but they handled everything with ease and were incredibly professional. They showed up early on the day, and stayed until the end of the night - even though we got about an hour behind schedule due to a medical emergency. I don't know that we every really talked about a vision, just specific shots. Again, they sent me a link early. What they sent me was amazing. They made it look like the dance floor was full the whole night. They were not obtrusive at all during the ceremony. There were a few times I remember looking right into Ryan's camera, but over all they were completely unnoticeable. They seemed to work very well with our photographers, who they had never met before. They gave us pure perfection. Everything I was dreaming of and so much more! Honestly, they should be charging more. The value that you are getting with these two is unbelievable! -

Katie and Ryan were AMAZING!! They made the trip to our mountain wedding in May, and they perfectly captured every special moment of our day! They were so friendly and made our entire family feel so comfortable. We love the way that they organized the video in such a way that some of the song lyrics matched up with what we were doing, you can tell that they put a lot of thought into creating the video. We *loved* working with Katie and Ryan!! We also want to hang out with them and their fur babies, but that's beside the point. We found them via Ryan's video work - I was *really* picky about the style of video I wanted, and everything seemed either really cheesy or wayyy out of budget. I noticed on their website that they did photos too. Serendipity! Once I looked through Katie's portfolio I couldn't believe I hadn't found them sooner. We truly feel like we got in early with rising DC area photography stars at a bargain of a price. They were willing to travel near and far for great backdrops (as I've seen for other shoots they've done too!) and hired a great second shooter for our day of. They make it easy to relax with them, and several guests complimented their ability to blend in on the day. And, most importantly, we are thrilled with the final pictures! -

Hiring Compass Studios was one of the greatest decisions we made during our wedding planning! We found them online and after trading notes with Katie (the owner), we decided to go forward with booking. We have a lot of friends who have gotten married and we knew that a highlight video is something we wanted. We found Compass Studios to be affordable, with many different packages and offerings and we loved that we got both the highlight reel AND all the raw footage. On our wedding day, Andrew, the videographer, was a dream to work with! He was so chill and funny and accommodating and caught SO many priceless moments for us. As the day wore on, we decided we wanted Andrew to stay for an extra hour to capture some more dancing, and he gladly agreed and was even flexible enough to let us Venmo him the additional cost after the wedding. Now that our wedding has passed (1 month today!) we have received our highlight reel and 3 hours of raw footage, and we honestly are so grateful to Compass Studios for this gift. The day was such a whirlwind, that it is amazing to be able to go back and re-watch some of the best moments (like our vows and speeches) and see for the first time moments we never even knew about. I am SO glad we decided to include a videographer in our budget and SO glad that we found the wonderful people at Compass Studios. It is truly worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY and then some. The pictures are great, but video is just SO special. I'd urge any brides and grooms to really figure out how to make room in their budget for this---it is worth it, and I'd highly recommend Compass Studios. This footage is a gift we will cherish FOREVER. Thank you Andrew and Katie and Compass Studios!!! -

I've known Katie for many years and have seen all of her works so I knew I could trust her to capture the beauty of my day! Ryan is AMAZING with video! Although we had to resort to a Plan B ceremony location due to rain Katie and Ryan kept us on schedule and we were able to capture some beautiful moments with very special family and friends! They immediately had some photos ready for us the next day and I cannot wait to see the rest!!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! :D
