Wedding Reception Foodies

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Kathy G's. From start to finish, they were an absolute dream to work with—kind, responsive, organized, and so genuinely invested in making our day special. They made everything feel effortless, and that level of care meant so much to us during such a busy and meaningful time.
And the food—oh my goodness—the food was incredible. Every single detail was thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. The shrimp and crab claws were such a hit, and the Tuscan table was just stunning. It was overflowing with the most delicious assortment of fresh vegetables, cheeses, crackers, olives, and perfectly seasoned chicken skewers—people are still talking about it!
The carving station was phenomenal and added such a special touch, and the mashed potato bites and appetizers were so creative and absolutely delightful. Everything was full of flavor, perfectly prepared, and served with such attention to detail.
We have had so many guests reach out afterward asking who our caterer was, which says everything. I’ve happily raved about them to everyone because they truly exceeded every expectation we had. Not only was the food amazing, but the team behind it was just as exceptional.
If you’re considering them for your event, do it—you will not be disappointed. They played such a meaningful part in making our wedding day unforgettable, and we are so incredibly grateful.

Love this place!

I worked with Kathy G's on a wedding reception and it was absolutely amazing! The food was top notch, but the service is what really took it over the top. Their team was definitely easy to communicate and work with, and the ambiance of the space was perfect for our bride's big day. We look forward to working with them again!

I had the best experience anyone could have asked for! They were professional and very eager to please! All details were handled and handled with ease…taking any stress away from me!! The food was amazing! Everyone complimented us before leaving on how wonderful it was and the champagne toast and dessert was a huge hit! I recommend 100% with no reservations ❤️🥰❤️

I absolutely had the best experience ever! Very dialed in to my needs and ideas…or lack thereof….takijg the wheel when needed and letting go when needed! I so enjoyed them and appreciate all the hard work! It was beautiful and the food was amazing! Everyone was so complimentary! Hands down a perfect evening❤️

Corporate Event

Our company has used Kathy G to cater our largest corporate event for over 16 years.
Natalie and her team are dependable and are excellent to work with. Every detail is taken care of, the tablescapes are always beautiful and fresh, and the star of the show, the food, is unique and delicious! The menu has so many choices; if they don’t have it, you can ask if they will provide it. The presentation is always so pretty and impressive.
The team is efficient, professional, and easy to work with. Kathy G makes our event stress-free, and I never have to worry about any detail. They see to everything!

Absolutely Phenomenal

Natalie at Kathy G was incredible in helping us with the catering for our daughter's wedding on 6/22/24. The food was cooked to perfection, and the service was extremely professional and on point. We were so well taken care of! There is absolutely no point in going with any other caterer in Birmingham. From my extensive research on catering companies and my experience with this team, nobody comes close!

Corporate Event Catering

While not a wedding, Kathy G catered our corporate event, and all were blown away by the delicious food and amazing service. All servers were kind and professional and handled all food set up, which the display was beautiful. If you want a stress-free and amazing catering experience, hire Kathy G!

Highly recommend!!

Thank you seems not nearly enough for making my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner so fabulous. Everything was wonderful. The food was delicious. The staff were professional and courteous. The room was beautiful even before we decorated. The BBG security guard was kind, patient, and made us feel safe. I have zero complaints. You all put up with my countless phone calls and emails with professionalism and encouragement that all would be taken care of and it would be a wonderful night - which it was!
I will always highly recommend Kathy G & Co. and The Gardens Cafe at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to everyone I know.
Thank you again and please let all the staff members know how grateful I am.

Best food, easy to work with

Just save yourself time and use Kathy G”s. They came highly recommended and after my first phone consult I knew my friends were right! Everyone at my daughters wedding raved about the food (shrimp & grits TO DIE FOR). The quality and quantity of food exceeded every expectation we had and was well below what we expected to spend. Honestly, just use them. You will be most pleased! Bartenders were great too!!!

Best experience!

Kathy G & Co is the best catering company you will find!!! They serviced our Rehersal Dinner and Wedding and both were absolutely phenomenal, not to mention that neither location had industrial kitchens on site!! I truly dont know how they did it! We set extremely high expectations and asked for replicas of our favorite foods from all over the US. Including the a gyutoro from Uchi (best sushi in Austin!) and it tasted just as delicious (if not better) than the real Uchi! 9 month post wedding and our guests are still saying it was the best food they have ever had. Thank you so much KathyG for making our wedding weekend so special!!

Totally recommend

Kathy G & Company catered my daughter's wedding in May at Mallard Oaks Farm in Talladega, AL!! Everyone LOVED the food and asked who had catered! Natalie was wonderful to work with!!! I changed my mind several times on items and she was very gracious in helping me make decisions. We had a Quesadilla bar after the dinner and it was a HUGE hit! Highly recommend Kathy G for any wedding reception or event!

Kathy G and Company is exceptional!!! Everything they do is delicious and the presentation beautiful. They catered both of my daughters receptions and we could not have been more pleased with what they did! That was one less worry for me. Kathy G and Company is “top drawer”! Natalie, Sylvia, and their staff were the most accommodating team I have ever experienced. The food was excellent, service the same. The venue is beautiful. Best food I have ever had at a wedding! My husband and I are huge foodies and our wedding food was very important to us. We had a seated dinner and everyone's meal was still hot when they received it which my guest commented on. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. 3 weeks later and my guest are still talking about the food! I wish I could have our meal all over again especially the tomato salad... DELICIOUS!

We chose Kathy G's to cater our daughter's wedding. We met with Natalie and she made everything super easy! She worked with us based on our budget and made sure we had a wonderful menu! We were very pleased with the food, the staff, and the set up. Everything was beautiful and delicious . They met all of our expectations!!

Kathy G and her team are the best! They helped us select the perfect menu and signature drink for all of our guests and their dietary needs. They provided extraordinary service and the food was incredible. We had a southern menu and they provided food stations that included herb grilled beef tenderloin with red wine demi served over caramelized onion mashed potatoes and asparagus tips, a southern fried chicken biscuit bar with all the fixings, including Chilton County peaches and fig preserves, Shrimp & Grits, fried okra and petit crab cakes topped with remoulade sauce. They even had chocolate strawberries for those who could not eat wedding cake. My guests are still talking about how fabulous the food was. Thanks, Kathy G!

Kathy G & Co catered our daughter's wedding a week ago at The Barn at Shady Lane. We have been so impressed with the attention that was given to every detail. Natalie worked with us tirelessly as I went back and forth about the menu selection - let me say, listen to Natalie, she knows what she is doing and the menu was perfect. The team that was with us during the wedding, lead by Romona, couldn't have been nicer or accommodating. Whatever was needed they took care of without question. One of Katie's request was to ensure there was enough food and a variety! We are still receiving compliments on the menu selection. The food was excellent - especially the "Roast Beef", the beverage bar far exceeded our expectations! Kathy G & Co made Alex Corley and Katie Elkins Corley's wedding day perfect. Thanks to the entire team!!

I would highly, without a doubt, recommend them to any bride who is in need of a caterer for her wedding. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced and their displays are out of this world! Kathy G. was the perfect caterer for my daughter's perfect wedding. Natalie was a dream to work with, giving us interesting menu options for the cocktail hour and reception. She was approachable, friendly, and listened to us carefully to hear what was important to us and how we envisioned it to be. We met before the menu was finalized for a tasting which was very helpful and Natalie met again with the team the week before for a walk-thru at the reception venue to make sure every detail was covered. The presentation was well done, tasteful and beautiful, the food delicious and the wait-staff so professional. Kathy G and Company helped us impress our guests who came from around the US.

You cannot go wrong with this selection. The venue, food and service were terrific. It was a reherasal dinner for our son's wedding. Great choice. The gradens were picture perfect too.

I can't even express where to begin-- Nicole Stoffel, Andy Hopper, the Kathy G crew, and the food were all amazing. From day 1, Nicole took care of me whatever I needed or wanted. I always received quick responses and awesome advices. At times, I needed help with my wedding-- and with their experience, they gave me some of the best advice or took care of it.

I cannot say enough good things about Kathy G and especially Andy!! He listened to my ideas and my Pinterest board lol and he did wonders!! I loved my flowers, design work, and everything in between. The church and reception venue were decorated beautifully! He even went out of his way and decorated my rehearsal dinner venue, on the day of, with no prior notice! On the day of the wedding, they set up everything at the church then took it down and set back up at the reception area before everything got to either location. Andy and his team are just amazing! I wish I had used them for my catering needs also?? but oh well live and learn! Lol

Andy Hopper is the best in the business! I am a very simple person with little creativity. Andy sat down with me every step of the way and made sure my vision was complete for my big day. I trusted him with my design and flowers and he did not let me down. Our wedding was absolutely gorgeous and I owe it all to Andy and his wonderful team. Andy is such a creative and talented person!

I have Andy booked for my wedding flowers and decor and I could not be more happy. I trust his vision completely and KNOW he will give me a final product I have only dreamed of! He is so fantastic and creative! My mom even got him for my Bridal tea! I love him!

Natalie is the event coordinator who worked with me. She was very helpful and accommodating. With the exception of the bartender, the wait staff were all very friendly and offered great sevice. I would most definitely host another event here.

I used Andy hopper as my florist and decorator for our wedding. Absolutely amazing job. He works for Kathy g now. Truly the best wedding ever and he made it special to us.

The event was a Rehearsal Dinner with Tamara Archer as the event planner. She was excellent, always on time, great with suggestions, and eager to work with us on our ideas to incorporate special items. Even when the weather change to freezing and we could not use the tented area at the BBG Gardens Cafe, she change the dining area around to fit the slide show, bar, banana foster table, mead service, and 5-micro plated dinner for 75. The servers were so professional and moved well with all those dishes and silverware for each plate. And the food was perfect: rare tuna, rare roast beef, and other creative and beautiful presented dishes. Thanks to all, especially Tamara!

The staff at Kathy G were a pleasure to work with. They were always friendly and responsive. They tailored the menu to our desires without question and went above and beyond to make us happy. Not only was Tamara and the staff excellent, the food far exceeded our expectations. We had a brunch style wedding menu with chicken and waffles, a biscuit bar, and some amazing egg breakfast casserole. The food was truly amazing and one of the biggest complements I have gotten on the wedding. Simply superb with high class service.

Andy Hopper with KG designs is absolutely AMAZING!! He made our wedding completely spectacular. With his design vision and his floral expertise, our wedding was something out of a fairy tale! Also, Kathy G. and Company catered our wedding, and our guests are still talking about how wonderful all of the food was. We could not have pictured a more perfect day, and Andy Hopper and Kathy G made it all possible! I would HIGHLY recommend them if you want your wedding to be one to remember!!

As always Kathy G and company were "over the top". They did an unbelievable rehearsal dinner and wedding day lunch , ending 2013 with the most unbelievable wedding celebration. All were a Kathy G production from "soup to nuts" including decorating. Nine months earlier my now son in law said "We are getting married HERE (venue) because there is a certain caterer your mother wants to use?" Yes! And mother in law was right!

Our Reaearsal dinner catered by Kathy G. And Company at her venue Park Lane in Birmingham was a smashing success!! We received MANY compliments from our friends and family in attendance from North and South Carolina, New York, Indiana and Alabma. They commented on the elegant sophistication of Park Lane and the creative presentation of the delicious food. Our coordinator, Natalie made everyone feel calm and organized with her gracious manner. I would highly recommend Kathy G. for any very special occasion!

We were planning a wedding with all of the parties in different states. We had it at a venue that recommended Kathy G's and they shined! Everything was perfect. They were on time to set up, the food was delicious, and the staff over the top. They did everything we asked of them and more. Thanks for a dream wedding.

Kathy G & Company came very highly recommended to us & it is no surprise why! They provide excellent customer service & of course DELICIOUS food!!!!! It was a joy to work w/ them. They went above & beyond the day of. The set up looked phenomenal, they made plates separately for myself, my new husband & our photographers so we could eat privately after not having had anything all day while everyone else watched a video made for us by a friend. Also in the hecticness of detail prep we didn't designate a family member to cut our cakes so a couple of their workers sent to us that day did it & then made us up a beautiful little going away basket when we exited! If anyone is looking for a caterer look no further! People still continue to RAVE over the food served!

Katelyn sparks at park lane was wonderful to work with!! I was planning an after rehearsal dinner from NC and depended solely on her suggestions for my choices for the event!! The set up was beautiful and food was delicious !!

Katelyn exceeded my expectations in every way! She helped me plan the entire event from 1000 miles away. She understood exactly what I wanted and I trusted her to help me bring my ideas to fruition. It turned out to be incredible and came off without a hitch! My guests are still talking about what a great time they had and how delicious the food was. They also really enjoyed the motorcoach from the hotel to the reception.

KG Designs did a beautiful display for our special day. With my now husband as a wedding videographer I know he sees floral arrangements every weekend and I knew I wanted my day to be the most beautiful and you guys certainly delivered. My bouquet was gorgeous along with the centerpieces, bridesmaids bouquets and decor. You guys certainly gave me exactly what I asked for and listened perfectly! Thank you so much!

The best decision we made was choosing Kathy G's for our catering. Katelyn from the team was wonderful to work with. Out of all the things that caused us some stress in planning our wedding, none had to do with Kathy G's. It was so nice to have someone we could completely trust with our reception needs.

After the wedding I was told my many of our guests how amazing the food at the reception was.

I really can't say enough about Kathy G's services. I highly recommend them to any bride looking for a caterer or more!

Where do I begin..... Andy Hopper, the designer is one of a kind!! His work belongs on WE TV!! This was a quote that a wedding guest told my mother. He took my vision and brought it to life and I still get goose bumps when I see pictures. I told him what I wanted and he turned my dreams into a reality! I mean from the flowers to the candles and eveyrthing in between. My dad stated of all the checks and swiping he had to do this investment was well worth the money. Brides, if you truly want that speechless feeling I would call KG Designs today!! Andy and his team will make it happen!! His work speaks for itself!!

Andy Hopper of KG Designs did our flowers and helped our coordinator with decor. Andy is the best! I had a couple of picture of things I liked, but none of them was perfect. I talked to him about what I liked and didn't like about each picture and what the wedding was going to be like. I honestly worried that I hadn't communicated the ideas jumbled up in my head very well at all. But I shouldn't have worried! Andy took my scattered ideas and pulled together an AMAZING floral/lighting plan! He is a genius and fun to work with!

Kathy, Natalie, Andy and the entire Kathy G team did a phenomenal job catering and decorating our wedding at Sloss Furnaces. Andy and Natalie was both very responsive and made adjustments even the week of as we added items to our menu and flowers. They were easy to work with and we got many compliments that it was the best wedding food that our guests had ever had. In addition, the flowers and decor that Andy put together were stunning and he helped us achieve the "look" we wanted while staying within budget. Would highly recommend Kathy G and Co. and we look forward to using them in the future.

I used Kathy G & Company for my catering, floral (KG Designs), and reception venue (Park Lane). This made it really easy, and they also provided wonderful service. My unconventionally timed 11am wedding was no problem for Mary at Park Lane. She suggested an appropriate lunch time menu that had my guests raving about the food. Andy at KG Designs also helped me find a way to make my money go further with my floral decisions. Finally, the Park Lane venue is so beautiful--it really is a great space for day or night. Kathy G made my wedding day as beautiful and hassle-free as possible--which is exactly what I wanted!

Graduation Dinner: Fantastic Service: Helped to organize a lovely event with great food & great service!

To Kathy G & Co: You hosted my daughter’s college graduation dinner on April 29, 2023, which we wanted to be intimate and elegant! You helped us to achieve that experience. I want to compliment the staff on their service. They were very accommodating, and they did very well on the set up and clean up. The food was great, and we had an enjoyable evening. Thank you for helping to make my daughter’s event extra special!

For the general public: This venue was absolutely gorgeous! Lovely location. My daughter’s graduation dinner was an intimate event, but we still had about 50 people in attendance. The food was great and the prices were reasonable and provided me with feasible options. Mrs. Natalie Pilato worked with me to create the menu and the event experience I hoped for! We had a fabulous time! I recommend Kathy G & Company for both their venue and their catering.

If you want a caterer/vendor decorator who will absorb your ideas then take the ball and run with it, this is the company for you. What i appreciated most as we progressed through the process of our daughter's wedding was their willingness to be thinking of us and our budget in every instance rather than their bottom line. They had no reservations about saying "you don't need that" or "that is enough". In a heartbeat we will use their services the next time we have a need. Oh, and the food was simply amazing and the presentation incredibly elegant and tailored appropriately to our very casual setting.

Natalie was absolutely wonderful to work with. She takes the time to do the small extras i.e.(the pretty 'to go' box for the bride/groom), and she always got back to us when committed or even before.
While one of the more expensive caterers in town, the quality of the food is much better also and Natalie is continually checking on the quality of the service.
The only thing I was not that happy with the servers at the bars: the signature drink was poured and many many guests were drinking one before the wedding service even took place. The bartenders inside were not really friendly nor very concerned with making sure all of the beers the groom chose were out and served.
Other than that, beautiful job and we would definitely use Kathy G's again.

A classic southern brunch!

Kathy G catered my daughter’s wedding and we were thrilled with the food! It was important to the bride and groom that the food really be a focal point, as it was a daytime wedding. We are still hearing from guests about the fried oysters and the lemonade! Natalie was so helpful and really worked with us to make our menu custom to our event! Highly recommend!

The food was outstanding!! Exactly what I had ordered and then some! Service was exceptional, quick and courteous. When I was setting up, Debbie was very helpful and friendly. Really appreciate being able to start setting up on Thurs. That was extremely helpful!! Was allowed some space in the flower room. Very appreciated, especially since I was coming from Montgomery. Park Lane was a perfect venue for our Rehearsal Dinner. Natalie made all the planning easy and was very helpful and knowledgeable.She was very attentive though out the dinner to our needs and kept everything running very smoothly. Kathy G catered my rehearsal dinner at the Gardens Cafe at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Kathy G is the exclusive caterer/florist for the Gardens Cafe. The setting is completely private and a beautiful 2 story dining room. We had a food tasting and Natalie Pilato was very responsive to our feedback on how to "kick up the spice" on the food. Many people commented how delicious the food was and how beautiful the decor was. The staff service was great too! I highly recommend Kathy G!

Kathy G catered my reception and my guests raved about the food. The staff was very professional and attentive to everyone's needs. The food was phenomenal and everything was set up without a flaw. Everyone was willing to meet with me as much as I needed. The only downside I felt there was no discussion on what would happen after the reception with remaining food and items. My family was left to handle this aspect after I had made it a point for this to not occur. Andy handled the flowers and decor and was the absolute best decision my husband and I made during the entire process! He was a breath of fresh air and we felt like we had known him forever at the end of it all. His eye for color and design is amazing and would recommend to everyone!

Kathy G catered our daughter's wedding reception. The food was fantastic. I can't tell you how many guests said that it was the best they had ever had at any reception before. Katelyn Sparks worked with my wife and daughter to plan the amount and selection of the dishes. Their staff constantly cleared dirty plates and glasses to keep the venue looking great. Afterwards they were efficient in cleaning and packing away everything. My daughter's first job was an event planner who competed against Kathy G. There was no question in her mind who she would use for her own wedding than Kathy G, simply because of what a great job they do.

I used both Kathy G for catering and KG Designs for my wedding and working with Katelyn couldn't have gone better. She was a joy and I really trusted her opinion when I was unsure about things, especially choosing to go with a tent for my outdoor reception. She was able to pull off my vision just as I imagined, especially my cheese wheel wedding cake. Being able to communicate with one person who was then able to organize the lighting and rental companies made my wedding planning so much easier. Thank you Katelyn for my amazing day!

The food that Kathy G provided was delicious and they were great about working with my tight budget. My person of contact changed 3 times during the wedding planning process which was a little frustrating, but overall fine.

One downside was that nobody from the staff interacted with my or my husband during the entire wedding and afterwards, my family members that did interact with them said that one woman in particular was rude the entire time, seemed miserable being there and even snapped at them multiple times during the clean up process. I was very surprised being that I had previously heard nothing but positive comments about Kathy G and Company.

The staff was great other than a few small things. I wished they would not have come down to my dressing area when I was getting ready. There were other areas that they could have changed clothes. There were also times when the tables were covered with trash, and no one came by the pick it up.

When the wedding party arrived for pictures nothing was ready, dirty tables were still there, and when they did the cleanup they only pushed those tables and boxes off to the side. The only bathrooms available to the venue were dirty and nasty. When we complained they said the bathrooms are not their responsibility -although they are the bathrooms that were for that venue. Unfortunately wedding guests could still see them. In addition, the food was terrible. When we met to plan the catering menu, we pointed out many items on their menu that were beautifully displayed individually plated. We even told them that's why we picked them -because of the pictures that showed us how each of hors d'oeuvre were individually plated on a little plate or in a little glass bowl. The food looked absolutely delicious – in their pictures. It was not what we got! Instead we had big silver chafing dishes that had what looked like chicken fingers in it with a clear glass bowl beside it with some kind of sauce she could dip into. The little crabcakes that had been individually display and beautifully garnished in the picture was also served in a big silver chafing dish and were about a 10th of the size showned in the picture. They look like flat quarters. Worst part was when I opened a third chafing dish and saw what looked like A big pan of green slime. I had to ask the caterer what was in the pan. . It was some kind of dip. Place beside it was a clear glass mixing bowl into which they poured a bag of Tostitos. What happened to the individually cooked pita chips they promised us. Unfortunately the food did not even taste good. So disappointed!!!! When I wrote the caterer and told her of the problems that we had-including pictures of what we were promised and pictures of what we got- the only thing she offered us was that next time we hire her she would do a better job.

Very Disappointed in Customer Service

NOTE: This review is NOT for the service or food at The Gardens by Kathy G; the service we received by Ms. Terry and her staff was exceptional and the food was delicious. This review is about the handling of my daughter's event at that location.

For the nine months that I worked with the staff to coordinate the event, I was met with difficulty getting responses, inability to do what was agreed to in meetings/emails, and a non-customer-focused attitude. When I provided feedback directly to Kathy G, I was not even given the courtesy of a response. I would not recommend them for an event.

TERRIBLE! Unresponsive to the point that I was scared he wouldn't even show up on my wedding day. Does not listen to a single word you say about what you want. Actually, it almost seems that he DOES listen, but only so that he can figure out how to do the EXACT OPPOSITE! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE USE *ANYONE* ELSE FOR A FLORIST!!!!!

I tried relentlessly to get the florist to call me back so that I could sign the contract and pay the deposit. I finally gave into my wedding coordinator's advice and just mailed the deposit and waited to get the contract at a later time. The WEEK OF the wedding, he FINALLY sent the contract.

At our initial meeting, I looked through the albums of his work and showed him the backdrop/altar decorations I liked. I pointed to one picture and said, "This is EXACTLY what I want. EXACTLY. I wouldn't change a single thing!" When I got to my venue, it was not even remotely close. I had told him that I absolutely did NOT under ANY circumstances want an arch!!!!! It was an arch. I told him I wanted the pretty pinks and yellows and peaches of the flowers in the picture. I got empty branches and dead flowers. I'm not kidding - dead, dried flowers!! I told him I absolutely did NOT want a white background b/c my dress would blend in and b/c I don't like white. My backdrop was plain white fabric!

Now, the bouquet was GORGEOUS! HOWEVER, I pointed out to him at our meeting that I'm very petite and my dress is huge, so I wanted a smaller bouquet - nothing that would overwhelm my small frame and take away from my big, poofy (and incredibly expensive) dress. I wound up with a TEN POUND bouquet that was nearly TWO FEET IN DIAMETER! I asked for darker colors in my bridesmaids' bouquets. What I got was almost completely white bridesmaids bouquets. AND TO TOP IT OFF, HE FORGOT TO EVEN MAKE A TOSSING BOUQUET FOR ME, which was in my contract!!!
