STUNNING - Best Florist in the Pittsburgh Area

Karrie was an absolute JOY to work with while planning my wedding. Her beautiful shop which is conveniently located in Sewickley, PA was cozy and inviting. Karrie spent an IMMENSE amount of time working with me to make my vision of my perfect wedding flowers come to life. Her professionalism & expertise were the reason my flowers turned out as artistic and elegant as they did. She was even able to incorporate my dream of having succulents in my bridal bouquet. Karrie is affordable, yet provides the highest of quality for all of her work. I simply showed up the day of my wedding and her team had decorated my venue to match my vision perfectly. From my bridal flowers & bridesmaid bouquets, to the ceremony decorations, reception center pieces, and more, I couldn't have been more impressed with the work she did for my wedding. I would recommend Karrie Hlista to my closest friends for any occasion. I am so thankful I found her for my wedding & and so blessed she was able to make my wedding SO beautiful.

Karrie and her team did an amazing job on the floral arrangements for our wedding day! She took two inspiration photos and created an amazing look for our venue. Everything was perfect and I wouldn’t change anything! Truly talented!

Beautiful arrangements and great service!

Karrie did a great job in creating our bridal party flowers, church flowers, and cake topper. She took my style notes and added her creative touches to make absolutely stunning bouquets. We didn't have floral centerpieces and were not a full service wedding, meaning we needed to pick up the flowers ourselves. The day before the wedding I took a peak at my bouquet while picking up our cake flowers and had a request for a change in one of the flowers included. The shop made this change within the 24 hours before pickup on our wedding day without any hesitation even though they surely had other weddings to work on. I was incredibly impressed by this level of service and it really suggested to me that every one of their weddings is a priority. In addition to the great service we received, I can say that their prices were some of the more reasonable I found while researching florists in the area.

Karrie did an amazing job on my bouquets and boutonnières. I didn’t get a full-service package from Karrie because my mother-in-law was ordering our centerpieces, but after 2 short phone calls and a few inspirational photos, I could tell Karrie knew exactly what I was envisioning. I didn’t see the bouquets until my wedding day, but I knew I was in good hands. I was so impressed with her work, as well as her ability to know what I was looking for just from a few short conversations. I received so many compliments on our bouquets, and all the colors she mixed in. I have no idea how you were able to merge my vibrant and antique looks, but you completely nailed it! Thank you!

Absolutely amazing! Choosing Karrie was truly one of the best (and easiest) decisions of the wedding planning process for me! Karrie was absolutely AMAZING! Her creativity is truly one of a kind. Some brides have been planning their special day since they were 5 (not me!), but after spending just 2 hours with Karrie, she designed the entire day from start to finish. She was able to design my perfect wedding day based on the few pictures I showed her from Pinterest-- it was like she could read my mind! Karrie is extremely professional, responsive, and did an excellent job staying within my budget while still providing multiple options to choose from. I had staff from the hotel come up to me before, during, and after our reception to tell me that our centerpieces and flowers were some of the best they have ever seen! I could not be happier with the service I received from Karrie Hlista Designs; I would 100% recommend Karrie to any bride looking for an exceptional florist in the Pittsburgh area.

Karrie was able to take my many, many ideas from Pinterest, random thoughts, and emails and turn them into something so beautiful for our wedding day. The bouquets were stunning, and exactly how she described it would be. There were no surprises the day of the wedding. We had an industrial- chic themed wedding, and she was able to bring in the feminine juxtaposition I wanted to counter balance the brick, wood and metal decorations. She created illuminated curly willow "trees" for our ceremony that were exactly what I had pictured in my head. We opted to buy them, rather than rent, and I'm happy to say they are a beautiful addition to our home, and a great way to remember our wedding day. She worked with our budget, that was on the moderate/low end of the flower spectrum - but you wouldn't think that having seen the beautiful arrangements.

Karrie did an absolutely fantastic job with our flowers! I was working with a very strict floral budget, and my wedding planner recommended Karrie as someone who could create a truly beautiful and artistic display while respecting the budget that I wanted to stay within, and she really delivered! My flowers looked extraordinary and I really could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out. Karrie really listened to me when we had our consultations and helped me to bring my vision to life at the wedding. She created displays that were striking without being over the top. She perfectly captured my vision of having a clean and classic look with all ivory flowers. She was able to recommend which varieties wouldn't break the bank, but would still look striking, and the result was nothing short of perfect. Karrie was absolutely wonderful to work with! She is extremely professional. She is very prompt in responding to emails, which I really appreciated. And we had multiple calls to go over all of the details for my wedding, which really helped to put me at ease knowing that nothing was missing and that I had everything I wanted for our wedding day. I had a budget that I wanted to stick to, and unlike some other florists that I reached out to for quotes, Karrie was very willing to work with me and make sure that she stayed within that budget while still making sure that the flowers were everything I wanted them to be. Also, I made a few changes the week of my wedding and Karrie was very flexible and accommodating.

Beyond all of that, the flowers at my wedding were absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I wanted the design to be classic and elegant, but not boring, and they were exactly that. My guests kept telling me how beautiful everything looked and I was so happy with how it all came out. The day of, Karrie's team was right on time and got everything done very quickly. I didn't have to worry at all about the set up, which as the bride, was wonderful.

Karrie is an extremely talented and professional florist and I can't recommend her more highly!

Since the first time I spoke with Karrie over the phone, I knew she was going to be wonderful to work with. She was professional and organized as well as extremely flexible ( I was planning the wedding out of state). She listened to my budget guidelines and took time to discuss available options. She was easy to contact and responsive to my needs if I had more questions or needed to make changes to my designs. Her flowers exceeded my expectations and she truly knew what I wanted my wedding to look like! I cannot say enough good things about her work!

My mom and I met with Karrie months ago when looking for a florist in the Pgh area. We knew right away that it would be a perfect match! Karrie did an absolutely amazing job on all the florals for our wedding. The flowers were so beautiful! Ten days before the wedding we found out the ranunculus for the boutenieres and centerpieces we wanted didnt grow well so the supplier said he wasn't going to be able to send them. Instead of just having us change designs to more accessible flowers, Karrie took the time and called suppliers all around the world and found a supplier overseas who could send the flowers I wanted in time for the wedding. Everything was perfect from the bouquets and boutenieres to the centerpieces!

Karrie was so wonderful to work with and I definitely recommend Karrie Hlista Designs to everyone!

Karrie Hlista was extremely professional throughout the whole process beginning with meeting to discuss ideas to the execution of her products. She was eager about working with us which added positiveness to the wedding planning process. She was willing and WANTED to take creative lead on the bouquets and decorations which is what we wanted from a florist. She was honest, responsible, and direct with the information and products. The final bouquets, flowers, centerpieces, etc. were absolutely beautiful and better than we imagined!

I recommend to future brides/grooms to ask about a runner for the church as we were not aware that florists could supply this at the church.

Absolutely amazing!!! I can't say thank you enough because of Karrie my wedding was magical. I had my reception at the Carnegie Museum which is beautiful but when I walked in after Karrie transformed the ballroom I was blown away. It felt like a fairytale, she went above and beyond my expectations. Karrie has an artistic vision and I am truly grateful I found her. She is a true professional from beginning to end. I came with a very specific idea about the particular flowers I wanted in my wedding, and Karrie was able to incorporate them into a gorgeous design for our personal flowers, the church and our entire reception space. Coming from a background in the floral industry I was a pretty tough wedding customer. The flowers were in beautiful bloom (not tightly closed buds or blown-open and falling apart) on our wedding day and the arrangements were spectacular. We got so many compliments from our guests as well as our other vendors.

I love Karrie! I got married on a farm, with the reception in a barn called The Hayloft. I had some atypical ideas (for example, I didn't want only two colors as my wedding color scheme; I wanted "fall" colors that weren't orange and brown) and I had a set budget. Also, I was planning my western PA wedding but I live in New York City, so everything had to be done long distance.

I went to four different Pittsburgh florists and gave them my parameters. Karrie was the best, hands down.

Karrie is the only one who immediately embraced the non-traditional ideas I had for my wedding. She threw out tons of ideas - way more than the other florists. She didn't give me a hard time for not knowing the types and names of random flowers, which was always frustrating when I would talk to other florists. And, unlike other vendors, she didn't tell me that I simply MUST pick two or three colors to be my wedding colors.

What sealed the deal for me was that she stayed within my budget while still giving me fresh ideas. She didn't automatically resort to the usual fluffy filler-flowers that don't cost a lot but take up a lot of room in a bouquet. She suggested affordable flowers that I hadn't seen at the dozens of other weddings I've attended.

She was as into my vintage, farm ideas as I was. She would send me pictures out of nowhere, saying "I just saw this and thought of you!" She talked to me over the phone while presenting pictures to me via email.

I loved working with her and I got so many compliments on the flowers that day. She turned the bare rafters and tables in the barn into a beautiful setting that won the resounding approval of my hard-to-please relatives who were wary of our barn reception idea.

Karrie made my life easy and was one of my favorite wedding-planning memories.

The first time I met Karrie face to face was on the day of my wedding. When my daughter, the bride, requested blue & hot pink flowers I was concerned that they would look garish. Not so. Karrie put together a most creative and elegant design for the church ceremony and reception down to the smallest detail like the corsages & candles. Using an array of flowers that we had never seen with varying hues and shapes that only an artist could envision, the realization was beyond what we hoped for. Karie was so professional and organized that we were confidant that everything would go smoothly -- no worries for the big day. I would love to use her services again.

One of my favorite things about Karrie is that she is really great about helping find ways to meet your creative dreams while simultaneously finding the most cost effective way to reach those creative goals.

Beyond her creative touch and concern for helping you stay within your budget, her customer service is great. She is fantastic about keeping you in the loop and is more than willing to work with long distance brides (I'm in SC and she's in PA). I was able to meet her at her flower shop one time before the wedding and she spent a lot of time going over all of my options, different flower choices based on my color scheme and bridesmaid's gowns.

Not only were the flowers beyond beautiful, you really saved the day with all the extra care and help that you provided. The extra touch of the cabbage roses was breath taking! From the beginning, I had wanted cabbage roses but didn't ask about them because I didn't believe that I could afford them. The groom and his men loved their boutonnieres and though they wouldn't use these words to describe them, I loved the way they had a modern feel (with the orchids) but were also perfect for an outdoor garden wedding (with the mints and lavender). You are beyond florist, you are artist as well. I can't wait for an excuse to use your services in the future!

I was a floral designer for 20 years my friend Lynn was getting married and needed flowers for her wedding the shopps I worked at did not impress me with wedding work so I went on line and found Heritage I took my friend Lynn there and I was so impressed by the flowers that Karrie gets, some I have never seen in my 20 years as a designer. Karrie was not only proffesional, but she made us feel at home. Lynn's wedding flowers were beautiful, the tables looked great !! We were so happy with everything. I now go to Karrie for all my flower orders.

karrie did a wonderful job. I was so excited to see my flowers, when i walked into the church i made a B line up stairs to see my flowers and they were more beautiful than i could have thought. I am still getting compliments on my flowers. On the table flowers i told Karrie to do what she thought would look best and I just picked out a few flowers and she did the rest. I trusted her to do that and she came through tenfold. Karrie is very knowledgable when it comes to flowers. I will always come back to Karrie.

Karrie was great to work with. She really took the time to make sure that she understood what I wanted - and I felt very comfortable that what I wanted was in capable hands. Karrie was hired less than 3 months before my wedding and I was more than lucky that she was willing to do my wedding on such short notice.
She created a Platinum Wedding atmosphere within my budget. First we discussed for hours my vision, then she traveled to the wedding venue, and she worked with the lightning specialist to create an exquisite evening.

She incorporated our handmade Chuppah cover with the Chuppah in such a way that guest e-mailed and wrote notes that they had never seen a more beautiful Chuppah.

My wedding was in 3 different rooms in one venue for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and Karrie managed to awe my guest as they transitioned from one room to the other.

Karrie was a professional at all times and I valued her opinion and suggestions. She returned all calls or e-mails and exhibited patience in dealing with a nervous bride-to-be. She was informed on all the latest wedding trends and had ideas not seen by me on any of the wedding sites. After a few phone meetings(I lived out of town) I never worried about how my flowers would look on my wedding day and I was not disappointed!!!!

Don't let the idea that she works out of a shop in a small town deter you because remember the best gifts come in small packages and Karrie's artistry is a gift.

I can't say enough about the great experience I had with Karrie Hlista. Karrie listened to the type of wedding we were having and she designed the perfect arrangements for the tables, my bouquet, the ceremony room and the wedding cake. Karrie did it all. When I arrived, everything was perfect....actually, even prettier than I expected. The flowers were all fresh and colorful and the arrangments lasted long after the wedding.

Karrie's floral designs really made the wedding. Many people commented on the flowers and I would never hesitate to recommend her. Karrie was very thorough and I always knew exactly what was going on. The flowers were never a concern.

I highly recommend Karrie Hlista - you will get beautiful flower arrangements, great service and a very fair price. And most importantly, this is one thing on your list you won't have to worry about.

I worked with Karrie for my June 26th wedding at Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at the Priory. After visiting tons of florist, only Karrie Hlista Designs was able to help bring my unique vision of wanting real grass & branches as the centerpieces to life. She went above and beyond what any other florist would of even considered doing for my price range. To complete my modern centerpieces she even hand tied crystals and orchids to each and every branch (very time consuming)...Karrie really cares about making the customer happy and has pride in her work. I would highly recommend her as your florist for any event that you want to stand out and make it both unique and elegant. She was professional, honest, unique, reasonable and always available for any questions that came up. Thanks again Karrie..you were a true pleasure to work with!

When I started planning the wedding, there was one vendor that I didn't even need to think about - Karrie Hlista Floral Wedding Designs. I would not trust my flowers on my special day to anyone else. She took the time to work with me on all the details and possibilities and made fabulous suggestions on design and size of the various floral pieces. We had live roses for our bouquets and boutonnieres, and I wanted a silk arrangement for our memory table that I could keep. I received numerous compliments on the flowers - they were all exquisite.

Karrie is an incredibly gifted designer and I would recommend her for any floral work.

Karrie did an amazing job on the flowers. She saved me on the day with the couple of roses I forgot for the sign of peace! I called her Saturday around 8am and she called me back within a couple of hours. It was a pleasure to work with her. She is a constant professional and has tremendous attention to detail, which I love! Her creativity shined through. She was a big part of our day!

We were blown away by the gorgeous flowers for our wedding done by Karrie Hlista and Heritage Floral Shoppe. We did not know much about flowers going into the planning, but we knew we wanted an elegant fall color scheme for our flowers. Karrie spent a lot of time with us over the phone to get a sense of what we liked and the look we were going for. Since we were in California and she was in PA, it was a little bit of unknown of how it would all look and turn out. When I arrived at the church, I was amazed at how beautiful all the flowers were, beyond what I could have imagined. Everyone immediately started commenting on how beautiful they were. We received many, many compliments throughout the day on how beautiful the flowers and centerpieces at the reception were. Thank you Karrie for making our wedding day even more beautiful that imagined!

Our flowers from Karrie were gorgeous! I struggled initially to put my wedding vision into words, but Karrie quickly grasped what I was thinking. She was able to compile a list of flowers for my bouquet, my bridesmaids' bouquets, and our reception centerpieces by the end of my fiance and my first meeting with her. Karrie also easily added in garland arrangements to our reception plans when I asked for them a few weeks before our wedding. On the day-of, Karrie coordinated with our point-persons at our church and reception site and set everything up without any hitches. She helped us create a stress-free, beautiful wedding!

My mom and I met with Karrie almost a year ago, and I could tell right from the start that she was going to be great to work with for our wedding. She was really receptive to our ideas, and I liked how she took our ideas and tried to make them the best they could be, and still stay within our budget. You can tell she has a great creative eye. She did so many arrangements for us, as well as our bouquets and some other fun things for our card table, etc. and everything looked perfect. She really paid attention to detail. She worked with us to stay at our budget, which was fairly modest. And with that being said, the ceremony arrangements were HUGE, and absolutely gorgeous, as were the arrangements at the guest tables. We loved working with Karrie!

Karrie was the florist for my wedding. I had no idea what flowers I wanted or what I was even looking for. My daughter and I were thrilled with Karrie's work for her July 5th wedding. The flowers she chose were so beautiful, and the artistry and creativity were commented on by everyone. As one guest whose husband is president of a country club said, "everything was exquisite!"
Karrie works hard and cares very much about what she does. She was able to perfectly capture the look we wanted. She is truly gifted; her work added so much beauty and the perfect touches to every aspect of the wedding. I think my favorite was my daughter's bouquet -- it was so incredibly romantic and lovely. Karrie was great to work with! Planning from out of town can be hard, but she went over all the important details through phone consultations and was very easy to work with. She did half of our reception pieces (the tall ones) and all of our bouquets. Even though we did half the arrangements ourselves, Karrie helped during set up to make sure that they looked just as good as the ones they created! We were very happy with how they turned out, and would definitely recommend Karrie Hlista to others!

Karrie was great to work with and the floral designs...breathtaking! We planned our wedding in Pittsburgh from another state and Karrie was available via phone and email to discuss options, numbers, and logistics. I picked a few flowers that I liked, she introduced me to some new ones, and I gave her a fair amount of leeway to create arrangements for the wedding and, let me tell you, they did not disappoint! She created a collection that was both whimsical and edgy, but wrapped in sophistication and it worked beautifully. I'm working to preserve my bouquet and my guests loved the unique and luscious arrangements. Besides the lovely flowers, Karrie is professional and punctual - I never once doubted her ability to deliver amazing flowers to two locations the day of my morning wedding in downtown Pittsburgh on a day that was replete with traffic due to graduations, sporting events, and other weddings. We ended up ordering 3 bouquets, 14 boutonnieres for wedding and family VIPs, 2 flowergirl wands, and 7 centerpieces. This fit our budget, but it was tempting to go over budget since Karrie has great ideas for creative arrangements and floral touches both at the ceremony and the reception venues.

Karrie makes you feel at ease when you talk to her. She is very flexible and helpful. Before I went to Karrie, I had another florist that was not getting back to and responding to my hone calls or emails. When I went to Karrie, she made me feel important and made my wedding day feel special. She was very professional and attentive to my needs and requests! I didn't worry about the flowers or decorations for the wedding day. She had my flowers and the bridesmaids flowers waiting for me when I arrived at the Church. They were PERFECT! My mom and I met with Karrie Hlista months before my wedding. Initially, we thought her quote was high, but that was before the $6500 quote we got from a florist down the street from her! Apparently, the centerpieces I wanted were very labor intensive. After voicing my concerns, Karrie worked with me to create an option that was within our budget. I want to stress that I only had my centerpieces and ceremony arrangements through Karrie Hlista designs. I'm sure any personal flowers would have been beautiful as well, but I wanted flowers that were out of season so I ended up going with silk bouquets. The centerpieces were manzanita branches in tall vases with crystal baubles and votive candles hanging from the branches. Orchid blooms were tied to the branches for a pop of color. They were absolutely stunning and created such a romantic, whimsical, soft glow-y feel to my reception. I was excited to see the hall, but was blown away by the centerpieces. Karrie and her team did such an amazing job with them. I can't express enough how happy I was with the centerpieces.

My only semi-complaint is that the flower arrangements for the church were smaller than I thought they would be. It seemed like we spent a lot of money on them, and they weren't tiny by any means, but I thought they would be bigger. Perhaps that was a miscommunication on my part, though. Despite their size, they were stunning.

Karrie called when she said she would, gave us a little extra time figuring out of guest list, and really made sure we understood our contract and everything we were getting. She was quick and professional with her responses (email, phone, etc.) I would definitely recommend Karrie Hlista Designs.

Karrie did a spectacular job on our floral arrangements. She was incredibly helpful from the beginning and helped me plan the details from out of town. Karrie did not just understand my vision of a natural and vintage look, but she nailed it. The bouquets were stunning and kept well throughout the entire event. She created the most exquisite centerpieces for our reception, and we received many compliments about how beautiful all our flowers were. Karrie also created a special arrangement for our escort card table that captured a wheeping willow tree effect and completely exceeded my expectations. Karrie was an amazing help to me during my wedding planning. I had an idea of what I wanted and she took it to the next level. We had a slight situtation when my order came in, a group of flowers that were supposed to be yellow came in white. Since non of my other flowers were white she immeditly upgraded me to a more expensive yellow flower that she had in the store, free of charge! Everything was perfect! Everyone at the wedding comment on the centerpeices and all of the flowers saying how much the added to the room and how beautiful they were. Karrie and her team did an outstanding job!

This is a hard review to write, and I left it for "last" because of that reason. This was the only vendor we booked the day of our wedding that left us wanting more...
SOME of the flowers (particularly the arrangements at the reception) were glorious. I also heard from several bridesmaids that their bouquets lasted almost a week, which is something special!
However:
The boutonnieres were haphazardly put together, and honestly, by the beginning/middle of the reception, most of the men's flowers had completely fallen off, leaving an embarrassing little leaf and a pin as the only proof there used to be something there.
I gave her my bridal bouquet (that was made by another vendor, as it was made out of paper) and asked her to secure family heirlooms on the stems. She did so with one pin, and it dropped off, making a very scary and frantic search happen in the middle of our wedding day. We found them, and I secured them with several pins much better than she had to begin with... attention to detail was not really evident.
Our Chuppah was supposed to be a glorious statement piece- we paid hundreds of dollars for it, and I thought it surely would be amazing. It was lovely. Just not worth the price... I wanted a "wow", and I got an, "oh that's nice" instead.
The bridesmaids bouquets were very uneven: some were full, some fell a little flat... Also, I supplied ribbon to secure around the stems, and this was extremely poorly done. It honestly looked like I wrapped them myself, and I'm not a florist! That's why we hired one!
We had hydrangeas placed in cones on the pews. They were placed very carelessly: some were drooping and clearly in need of water by the time I walked down the aisle.
There were four corsages made for our aunts and mothers. Karrie had attached flowers to rhinestone/pearl bracelets, therefore avoiding a "prom" look. Three out of four of them completely fell apart by the end of the ceremony.

This is why we were, sad to say, disappointed.

Overall the flowers were decent but the services that were promised and paid for were not completed. Karrie told us she would deliver the flowers to the church and then take them to the venue after the service. When it came time for the wedding she was no where to be found. She left the church flowers at the reception with no explanation. The flowers in the bridesmaids bouquets were also better then the brides own bouquet. The centerpieces were not exactly what was asked for during the consultations either. If other cheaper or alternative flowers were going to be used it should have been communicated to the bride and groom. We never got the chance to meet her even though she told us we paid for her services for the entire day since she only books one wedding per day.
