Perfect Makeup from First Kiss to Last Dance
Thank you to Karen and Karmel Design Team for making me look absolutely stunning on my wedding day! From the booking process to the pre-event communication, the make-up trial and the day of the event, Karen was extremely professional and very nice to work with. Fernanda provided makeup for my mom and my group of friends that got ready with me the morning of the wedding. She was early to arrive, extremely kind, very efficient and made everyone look beautiful! Karen did my makeup, and I still can’t get over how great it looked! We did a make-up trial a couple months prior to the wedding which allowed us to make a couple slight adjustments once the big day arrived. My makeup looked fresh from the minute it was applied until our private last dance at the end of the evening. I highly recommend booking Karmel Design Team for your wedding! Hair and Make-Up Weathered the Intense Humidity at Outdoor Event
Thrilled with my choice! Karen at KDTA was a joy to have around and the perfect artist to make me beautiful. I am over 50 and from out of state. My make-up looked great and weathered the sweltering humidity at the outdoor wedding and reception. My hair looked natural and remained in place, as well. My hair has a thin follicle and is straight, shoulder length, and layered. The up-do lasted without fail and looked amazing. Highly recommend!

Incredible Beauty Wizards with the perfect Vibe for your big day!
I cannot say enough amazing things about this design team. These girls are wizards!!! I have never felt more beautiful, and I can genuinely say that each of the ten ladies they transformed felt exactly the same way. With all of the details to decide and things that must be "just-so", Karen took the stress out of feeling beautiful on my big day. She didn't chide me for not having more pictures or ideas, or for the scheduling mix-up (SO SORRY!!), she never made us feel rushed even though their were so many of us and we caused a late start.... They were SO professional, fun, and easy-going. It was like a super chill beauty assembly line! Karmel is the vibe you want on your day. Thank you so much ladies!!!

Karen did my hair and makeup for my wedding on 10/20/19 and it came out 100 percent better then I had imagined it would. She made me look and feel like a bride! Karen and her team were the perfect choice for my wedding! I’ve never had my makeup done before and I was beyond nervous about choosing an artist. I have a lot of knowledge about makeup but I knew I would be too nervous to do my makeup for my wedding - and I 100% cannot do hair. One look through her Instagram and I decided to go for a trial. I was between airbrush and traditional - Karen was able to do half of my face with traditional and half with airbrush. Taking that amount of time to make sure I was comfortable and not pushing either option really cemented my decision. I went with airbrush and I’m so happy with my choice. The morning of the wedding, Karen and Diana arrived at our hotel suite on time. I was nervous but their calm demeanor helped me relax. They were so sweet and really listened to all 6 of us about what we were looking for. They finished early and the best part was my hair - my hair never curls and Karen was able to get it perfect! It looked exactly how I had always imagined it would look on my wedding day and I am so grateful to her. I was adamant I wanted my hair down and I was worried no one would be able to get my hair veil to stay but Karen was able to! I’d recommend Karmel Design Team to anyone - I love looking at our photos!

I can’t praise Karmel Design Team enough for the amazing service I received for me and my bridesmaids on my wedding day! Karen’s communication and fast responsiveness to my emails made everything less stressful, and as a bride, that’s super important! Her artist, Diana, assisted me with my trial and listened to all of my requests and had some great suggestions. I got so many compliments on my hair and make up that day! We tweaked my color a little bit for my day of, as I didn’t have my dress at the time of my trial, and I felt some other colors complimented my dress better. Karen assisted me on my wedding day and I had never felt more beautiful! My girls could not stop PRAISING how amazing their hair had turned out, and Diana assisted us as well since I had 6 bridesmaids. One of my bridesmaids, who got married a month prior, said she wish she knew about this place as she received a beautiful braid that looked like it came out of a Bridal magazine. Thank you so much Karen and Diana for making my wedding day and my girls look stunning with your talent! The pricing is so reasonable, and I will definitely refer them to any of my friends getting married in the future!

Stunning looks & efficient for large wedding parties
Karen and her team of hair and make-up artists transformed me, my mom, mother-in-law, two flower girls and ten bridesmaids (yes, ten) into stunning princesses/models. That's basically the best way to describe how we looked when we were all done.
Karen and her team are wizards at hair and make up styles but they are also efficient - with so many people needing to get ready, she and her team had a game plan and were able to complete all the hairstyles and makeup with time to spare before the start of photos.

Karen and Diana did such an amazing job for myself, my bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law. Everyone looked absolutely stunning. They were punctual, efficient, and even finished ahead of schedule- leaving plenty of time to relax. I initially had my trial with Karen and loved the look that was put together but had some small changes that I wanted to make the day of my wedding. Karen listened to EXACTLY what I wanted. I don't wear make up so I wanted to make sure I still looked like myself with a hint of glam and that's exactly what I got. I could not have asked for a better hair and make up team. Karen is awesome and I don't think I could have picked a better HMUA for my wedding! I am a huge makeup fan, and probably could have done my makeup myself for my wedding, but I wanted to feel spoiled and Karen delivered! She is a master at airbrush and contoured and highlighted all the right places. I told her I wanted semi-smokey with glitter and she made my eyes look so beautiful! My chest gets SO red when I get anxious or nervous so she airbrushed my chest to help keep that to a minimum. She also did my hair better then I could have imagined, I was so afraid that my bun would get pulled out with my cathedral veil but she pinned it so well it lasted all night. She arrived early and finished early. She did a great job on everyone and is super nice, you will not be disappointed!

I can't recommend Karen and Karmel Design Team enough! As a bride who rarely wears makeup and never does anything with her hair, I was really nervous about my hair and makeup for my wedding day. I wanted to look beautiful on my wedding day, but I also wanted to still look like myself. Karen found the perfect balance between makeup that was natural, but yet stepped up just the right amount to be glamorous enough for my wedding day. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day! She was very responsive and even asked for some photos to gave her an idea of my wedding inspiration. At my trial, she gave me a look that was flawless and timeless! I recently hired Karmel Design Team for hair and makeup for my wedding last week. From beginning to end I was impressed! Karen and her team of artists were not only professional but made my day so easy. Before I even came out to do hair and makeup everything was set up and ready to go! Karen and the girls even had mimosas poured and ready for me and my family. Since I already had so much on my plate it was such a relief to just sit back and relax while she worked her magic. We already did a trial, which went off without a hitch and once she started I immediately was able to relax for the first time. When she was done it looked even better than I had imagined! We couldn't stop taking pics, it was beautiful! My hair and makeup stayed flawless ALL NIGHT! I really owe Karen and her team a huge thank you for making everyone so beautiful and picture perfect! I booked Karen for both my engagement photo session, as well as my wedding day. I could not be more thrilled. She sees your vision for the look that you are going for and goes above and beyond to give you the look you want.
I could not stop looking in the mirror and smiling on my wedding day. She helped me look so beautiful, as well as my daughter.
My makeup stayed the entire evening and into the night. FL heat can be brutal, and we also took pictures outdoors in the afternoon hours. There were no issues with my makeup whatsoever. No running, etc. even through sweating.
I highly recommend Karmel Design Team! Absolutely the best in the area!

Karen did my hair and makeup for a boudoir shoot that I had over the summer, I loved it so much I had her do my look again on my wedding day. She was so amazing and sweet. I loved my look for both occasions and had so many compliments about my hair and makeup. She even traveled to Tampa for our wedding day. She is professional and responsive. I highly recommend her services!

I cannot begin to say enough good things about Karen and her team. Throughout both my hair and makeup trials and the wedding day itself, Karen went above and beyond to make sure myself and the bridesmaids were happy. Having very curly natural hair, I was beyond myself when Karen managed to make it stay in place and not frizz up for our entire Florida wedding!! My makeup never came off and I looked exactly as Karen left me throughout the entire reception. Karen and her entire team were so sweet and patient with us the day of! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for the perfect look the day of their wedding! Thank you Karen and all of your girls for making me feel beautiful on this very important day!

Karen and her team were amazing to work with. I had several phone conversations, emails, and Pinterest discussions with Karen to help clarify the exact look I wanted. I had no idea what I wanted for my hair going into my trial but Karen was patient and encouraging and helped me nail the look on my wedding day. Karen and her team of 2 other girls did hair and makeup for myself, my 5 bridesmaids, and even helped my mom polish her look on the wedding day. Very affordable and easy to work with. There are not enough adjectives to describe how awesome Karen was! She was super responsive, getting in touch with me within a couple of hours of each correspondence by email, and even quicker when I would text. When it came time for the big day, she was at the hotel 10 minutes early with a team of 2 other ladies who were assisting with the bridesmaids. They were all so friendly, it honestly just felt like a bunch of girlfriends hanging out which really helped with the pre-wedding jitters! I had so many last minute changes in the schedule (I contacted her no less than 6 times to change things up, I kid you not) and she was so flexible the entire time! All of my bridesmaids looked flawless and I am still getting comments on my hair and makeup and how stunning it looked! On your wedding day, you shouldn't settle for anything less than perfection and Karen definitely provides that :)

I met Karen at my boudoir shoot. She did an amazing job on my hair and make up for the photos and I knew I had to have her for my wedding. I have never felt so beautiful. She is super sweet and answered all my questions. She did an amazing job and I could not have asked for more.

Karen and her team were amazing on my wedding day! They were so calm and really helped the energy in the room be relaxing. My bridesmaids hair and makeup was amazing!! But of course my favorite look was mine! I had a fishtail braid and a beautiful headpiece that I wasn't sure how it was going to work with my hairstyle. Karen knew exactly how to make it work and it turned out amazing! We even had to squeeze in a bridesmaid for hair and makeup and Karmel Design made it happen without skipping a beat. When I asked for her to do a second makeup/hair trial because I changed my mind on what I wanted, Karen was super accommodating and was able to work with my schedule. I would highly recommend this team and plan to use them for any event I can in the future.

I would like to begin by stating I rarely take time to write reviews...positive or negative. However, after my experience with Karmel Design Team yesterday, it is a must for me. We flew in from out of state for our destination wedding. Without word of mouth or having the opportunity to meet anyone, hiring a company for my hair and makeup was very difficult and somewhat scary. I emailed multiple companies, but there was something about my correspondence with Karen that made me choose her team. To say I am grateful is an understatement. My hair is very fine and thinning. Because of that I am uncomfortable with people doing my hair. I have to wear my hair in specific ways to hide the thinness. Not only did Karen immediately make me feel comfortable and at ease, she also performed magic. My hair was full and breathtaking! I get very emotional knowing it can look that great. Though my hair was the number one concern, my makeup was equally as beautiful. I had an unusual breakout from the wedding and travel stress. Karen was able to conceal that no problem. Thanks to her, I walked down the aisle with confidence and have never felt more beautiful. I will be forever grateful. Thank you Karen!

When Karen and her team entered the door, you would never believe that it was 6am. She was welcoming and listened to what my bridal party wanted. She didn't try to get us to do what she wanted but made me feel as if I was her first priority. Throughout the process, she moved through the schedule with fluidity and never once made me feel like she was rushing to finish my hair and makeup. I loved that Karen and her team was part of my wedding story. She was fabulous, warm, professional, and an AMAZING artist.

Karen and her team were great the day of the wedding! They worked efficiently and were a ball to be with while my bridal party and I got ready. Conversation was easy and they took extra attention to how we wanted things done. Communication was easy from the get go and payment the day of went smooth. She accepts PayPal, card, cash and personal check. Her team was also great with my two flower girls, who were just fascinated by all the tools they use. They responded pretty well to the conditions of the hotel room lighting and worked with my maid of honor to get chairs from maintenance to work on three at a time.
What I loved the most is that Karen pays special attention to the bride, she ensured that my look was flawless. She even worked with me on adding hair and a make-up touch up last minute. When she got to the reception venue it was an easy and quick touch up. Overall I loved the whole process of working with her and most of all how great everyone looked in the photos. I kept getting compliments the whole night of how beautiful I looked. Karmel Design Team went above my expectations and will make you and your girls feel at ease while getting ready for the big debut.

I first saw Karmel Design Team's work when they did hair and makeup for my beautiful friend and her bridesmaids on her wedding day. Having been recently engaged myself, I knew I had to have Karmel Design Team for my wedding day, too! They were so professional and flexible, and even traveled to St. Augustine to play such an important part of my big day. I don't typically like to get my makeup done, and usually opt to do my own hair, but wanted to make sure everything was flawless & would last through the night. Karen did an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G job!! She took every word I said and every picture I brought and turned it into my perfect reality. It was picture perfect and totally 'me'. I couldn't have asked for anything more! I loved working with Karen and her team! I have never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day, all thanks to Karen. She was super friendly and helped me achieve "the look" I was going for. After my hair and makeup consultation with Karen I immediately knew she was the one I wanted to work with. She listened to me and offered ideas that would suit the wedding look I going for. She was able to only capture exactly how I wanted to look for my wedding day, but she made me feel wonderful throughout the entire trial. My entire wedding planning process consisted with multiple E-mailing back and forth. Karen and I went over every detail about myself and my bridal party and we had to change my schedule around about three times. She was very professional and very sweet and we were able to finally stick with the final changes to my schedule. The morning of the wedding on December 12th, was super exciting for myself and the girls. Karen arrived with two of her assistants to the location where my bridal party and I were staying and they went to town. We were enjoying every moment laughing and listening to music. After we finished prepping we headed to the venue location to continue our hair and makeup. I loved how we all came out the girls and I loved our look and I felt great and it's all because of Karen and her wonderful assistants. I highly recommend her for any event especially your wedding day she is a must!!

Karen is simply amazing. My makeup and hair was flawless and I received so many compliments. Her arsenal of beauty products included airbrush makeup which I had never tried before but went on smoothly (feels like air being kissed on your face) as well as every color under the sun for every lip or cheek. Karen and her team provided hair and makeup services at my daughters wedding. The team handled the bride, bridesmaids, mother of the bride and mother of the groom. We were exceptionally happy with the outcome.
Some items to note specifically about the team...
They were prompt and scheduled the appropriate amount of time so that they were not rushed with each client
They took time to understand the wants and needs of each client
Each person was finished in time for the pre-wedding photos without any stress
The quality of the products used were outstanding and everyone's hair and makeup held up throughout the wedding and reception
The costs were very reasonable
One final thing to note, Karen and her team were very calm and personable throughout the whole day helping to alleviate any stress and anxiety that the bride was feeling

Trial Review:
So far I've gone for a wedding makeup and hair trial and already I love Karen's work! I'm not one that wears a lot of makeup but I knew I wanted to look like "the better version of myself" on my wedding day. After showing Karen a few makeup idea photos and what I wanted my hair to look like, she did an amazing job! After I showed my family the photos of my makeup and hair they had nothing but praises to say about her work. I'm so excited to have her make me feel like a beautiful bride on my wedding day!!

I got married in October 2014 and had the pleassure of having Karen and her team do hair and make up for me my mom and bridesmaids! It was such an honor to have and experienced make up artist! Karen did an absolutely amazing job with my wedding! I was planning my Florida wedding from Maryland, she was a blessing. As a teacher I need to constantly be aware of what is going on, Karen's professionalism and knowledge helped me relax and leave things in her hands. Karen worked with my through email to get an idea of the looks I was considering for my wedding and for my bridesmaids. She did all my girls makeup and hair, they looked amazing. All the girls had different skin types and tones, she was able to provide each of my girls with the needed makeup for the day. I have hyper sensitive skin and tend to have reddish cheeks. Karen did an awesome job of keeping the red away throughout the wedding and reception, and I didn't spend my honeymoon dealing with a major breakout. She is bilingual which helped with family members that did not speak English. Karen and her team were very professional and brought everything we would need and that took my stress of getting ready away. I highly recommend her!

Karen did an amazing job with my hair and make-up. I have a lot of hair and her up-do held for more than 12 hours: Ceremony, reception, after-party AND flight to honeymoon. I loved that she listened to me, when we did the trial I had originally wanted a certain look but the day of the ceremony I told her I wanted something different and she listened to me and came through. She also did my bridesmaids hair and make up and again.. she did a wonderful job! I highly recommend her services and think that she charges a very fair price for what she does. Karen is absolutely the best. My wedding day makeup and hair turned out prefect and all my bridesmaids looked gorgeous. I had a 1920's Gatsby theme and she even learned new techniques to ensure we all looked the part. Would defiantly recommend her to any bride. She is fantastic!

Karen did my hair and makeup for a commercial and she was incredible. She made me look fantastic and made sure it would last for the 8 hours of shooting in the HOT florida sun! I would 100% recommend this vendor for anyone who wants to look good for an event. Her team is the only one I'll go to for my make up in Orlando. Thanks!

Karen came to me for the trial makeup run & did an incredible job. Then on the day of my wedding she totally out did herself!!! She did an absolutely amazing job! I felt more beautiful than I ever have! With my oily skin & tendency to run hot, I was worries I would sweat off, cry off or oil through my makeup. None of the above happened & I looked amazing even though I sweated & cried throughout the course of the day. She even helped me fix my hair when I wasn't satisfied with what my hairstylist did. I wish I had booked her for that service as well. Karen is a genuine sweetheart & incredibly talented! You will not be disappointed with her work!

I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day and a big part of that was because of Karen. I am not a make up wearer and usually feel pretty uncomfortable in it, but what she did was so lightweight and effortless looking that I felt like I was my enhanced self and not like I had a mask on.
She came to the site and did my makeup rather quickly. She listened to what I wanted and made any changes I asked for to really make sure everything was perfect. I have recommended her to many of my bride-to-be friends and I will continue to do so.

Her team was amazing! She listened to every question I ask and everything I wanted for my hair and makeup came true! I decided to do something different WHILE she was already doing the bridesmaids hair and she changed it for me immediately. She saw my vision and went with it. Absolutely amazing! I loved my make-up and hair the day of my wedding. I don't wear a lot of make-up on a daily basis and Karen worked with me until we found the right amount. My fiancee doesn't like a lot of make-up either and he said it was perfect the day of!
I was also pretty undecided on my hair, and Karen came up with a design that was beautiful and what I wanted without me even knowing it. :-)

Loved Diana!
My actual hair and makeup artist, Diana, was awesome at both the trial and the wedding day! She was able to bring my vision to life and I loved my hair and makeup on my wedding day. I even told her that I am notorious for crying (at weddings) and sweating (in general), and she made sure that my make up didn't budge one bit throughout the day/night. She was also very warm and hospitable and I felt nice and relaxed while she was working on me.
On the other side of things, my only suggestion is maybe to have an assistant for the admin/office type side of things like answering emails/calls, drafting contracts and timelines, etc because I had to ping them again a couple times to get responses and also had some small inaccuracies in my documents. But I highly recommend Karmel Design Team Artistry!

Wonderful!
I loved Diana the lead artist, she was great throughout my engagement to the wedding. However, we did not have the best experience with Fernanda a novice artist. My fiancee's family is of darker complexion and were worried they would not be able to match their skin tone. Karen, the owner reassured me that would not be an issue. However, Fernanda actually told my sister in law that they did not have makeup for her skin complexion. She also had to redo the flower girls makeup because it looked undone. Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend Diana again, however I do recommend the Karmel Design team working towards being more inclusive with their makeup for all skin tones as well as being sensitive to their approach in their communication.

HMUA Bonnie is fantastic!
My HMUA Bonnie was absolutely wonderful! She is very talented, sweet and a calming presence on a not so calm day :) I loved working with her and will seek to hire her personally for future events. She deserves 10/5 stars if I could! Nothing but glowing remarks for her. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the poor communication and office management by the owner of the company. Several emails would go unanswered for sometimes a week up to a month. It took several follow ups to be able to schedule my trial and to figure out what time we could expect our artist on the day of the wedding. I thought about cancelling several times because of the unease I felt through the booking and planning process. Then on the day of the wedding, I did not receive the two touch up kits I had ordered ahead of time so had to use my own makeup and try to match it as best as we could. Very thankful for Bonnie, she made up for everything!

Great team, but lacking in communication
I hired Karmel design to do hair styles for my mom, my maid of honor, 1 bridesmaid, and myself. My other 2 bridesmaids requested makeup only. Our timeline was very condensed (venue would let us in to start getting ready at 11 am with photographer wanted to start photos at 2:30 pm) so I do recommend them as they finished us all in that allotted time and we all looked great. However my hair by the end of the reception (10 Pm) had completely fallen apart. I don't know if this was due to them rushing because of the timeline, but it didn't look good. Also the communication leading up to the wedding was confusing. She sent out text messages with the quoted cost and the options to pay it, but she mixed up our numbers and some girls got someone's elses quote. They rushed out after finishing so none of the girls were able to tip and after the wedding I sent a follow up email thanking them and asking for what products they used on my hair (my hair was the softest and most friz free it has ever been), but no response.

It ended up great but along the way was difficult
Let me just start by saying that my hair and makeup ended up being AMAZING! But I did have some stress along the way. I was in contact with Karen and she is the one who did my trial. My makeup was gorgeous! Absolutely GORGEOUS!! My hair we did not exactly finish because because it took A LOT longer to do my makeup than anticipated. My hair was short and needed to grow out a bit and Karen told me she would bring an insert for my updo but she didn't have it for the trial so we kind of just decided to wing it the day-of. I was at the appointment for over 2 hours and she did makeup and a partial hair trial. But I was feeling confident. Fast forward to a month or so before my wedding and I texted Karen to double check all plans were still set. She called me and it took some major convincing for her to remember me. She then told me she would send me the questionnaire and timeline to fill out. I informed her I had already filled them out MONTHS ago. She said ok and that she would email confirmation. Never got an email. Days went by, two weeks went by... no email, no contact. My planner ended up taking over contact. My planner said Karen was difficult to get a response from but once she got in contact, all plans were good to go! A week before my wedding, my mother-in-law ended up in the hospital in very, very critical condition. My planner got in touch with all my vendors to find out information IF we needed to postpone the wedding. Four days before the wedding we decided to continue with the plans. My planner got in touch with all the vendors again and informed them we were a-go! The morning of my wedding, a little over an hour before my Hair/Makeup artist should be in my hotel room, I get a phone call from the Karmel secretary "calling to confirm that we cancelled the wedding." WHAT?!? No! I inform her we are still getting married TODAY. She tells me "uhh. ok. Well instead of someone being there at 11am they will be there between 11:30-12." I immediately hang up and inform my planner who gets everything worked out and assures me hair/makeup will be there at 11am! Karen does not show up, who is the person I had my trial with and who told me she would be the one doing my hair and makeup. But Megan shows up (at exactly 11am) and she is AMAZING! She asks if Karen took any pics at the trial... No. She didn't do that. But I did happen to do a photoshoot after my trial so I had some pics. Karen had told me at my trial that she would bring a volumizing insert for my updo. She never told Megan to bring the insert. Anyways, it all turned out fine. My hair and makeup were BEAUTIFUL and I was VERY happy. But the journey to get there was stressful and not organized. Thank god I had a planner or else my head would have exploded!

I was really disappointed with her services. It wasn't going well from the start and that should have been my red flag to discontinue services. She wasn't responding to my questions via email at all and after several weeks of no communication I sent her an email expressing my concerns with the lack of communication. Before I made the deposit to secure my date communication with her was always within 24 hours. However, after I made the deposit, I had questions go unanswered for several weeks. She apologized and stated it was because she was so busy. She indicated that further communication would improve. On the day of my appointment she showed up 30 minutes late to my house. I never had my makeup professionally done before and explained that to her again (it was explained in the previous emails). She struggled with placement of the right eyelashes and had to reapply multiple times. Each time she reapplied she put more glue on the lashes. When she was finished I asked if I needed anything else which she told me no. Later that night I was unable to take off my eyelashes properly because she didn't tell me I needed a special remover. I went to the store and the left eyelashes came off fine. Due to all the glue she put on the right eyelash, multiple lashes were pulled out during the removal. I was mortified! She refunded me $50 but it didn't make up for the frustrations that were caused throughout the whole process. I do not recommend her services.
