Delicious food and a wonderful team!

We can't recommend Karen Spire Catering and Events enough! We had a wonderful experience with Karen and her entire team. From our tasting in Karen's home to the day of our wedding, Karen was always so responsive and kind. The food was delicious and we continue to receive so many compliments from our guests. We also loved that the cost included Erin as our day of coordinator. Erin was extremely helpful throughout our planning process and took care of everything the day of the wedding so that we could truly enjoy the day.

Karen, Erin and the team are Rockstars!

We are SO happy we chose Karen Spire and her team for our wedding day! The food was incredible and so was the service. Our guests raved about the aps and entrees. For the aps – the pierogies and mini lobster rolls were our personal favorites. Karen ordered an ice sculpture that looked AMAZING for our seafood tower. She also helped us secure late night soft pretzels and water.
Two days before our wedding, Erin met with us at our venue to discuss set up of our décor for the day of. Erin also helped us unload our décor and all of our alcohol which was just above and beyond! Everything looked absolutely perfect the day of our wedding. During our wedding, Erin was SO attentive and made sure we sat down to enjoy our food. Thank you, Karen, Erin and Team!

Karen, Erin and their team made our day PERFECT!

These guys are absolutely phenomenal, and I don't just mean because of the food (but our food was UNREAL amazing!). Karen and Erin helped us with every step of our wedding planning, gave great ideas for the flow/design/feel of the day, and ultimately helped us pull it off flawlessly! Erin was such a phenomenal resource throughout the whole process and on the actual day of our wedding, we genuinely couldn't have done it without her. The entire staff was amazing so polite, professional, and kind. And our food - SHOWSTOPPER! So many guests complimented us on how amazing our food was and I couldn't agree more, especially because most wedding food is sub-par! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a flawless and easy experience - they handled everything I could think of and more!! We love you guys so much thanks for making our day amazing!

Amazing Food, Better Service

I cannot recommend them enough! All of my guests raved about how good the food is (truly delicious) and how efficient/knowledgeable the staff were. At one point I asked one of the servers if they had seen "an oddly shaped wine glass" & she said "the one you had in your had a minute ago?" They were on top of everything! It was such a stress relief for me knowing they knew exactly what to do.

And of course, the food could not be matched. We had more than enough hors d'oeuvres for all our guests but you wouldn't know that based on how little was left by the time dinner was served!

Our guests RAVED about our food!

First of all, EVERY SINGLE GUEST RAVED ABOUT THE FOOD AT OUR WEDDING! From the hors d'oeuvres to the entrees, we couldn’t even begin to count the number of people that told us it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! From our first meeting with Karen, where she invited us into her home and cooked our hors d'oeuvres and entrees in front of us, we knew we wanted her to cater our wedding. On our wedding day, we were served all three entrees and it was so nice to get to try each of them! In addition, Erin has a great understanding of the functionality of a wedding day, especially at Cairnwood, and provided us with great input and suggestions! We are so happy to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing team!

There's no one better!

I dare you to find someone better than Karen Spire and her team. From our first contact all the way through wedding night, our experience was amazing. Every bite of food was absolutely delicious. We had guests calling us days later to talk about how good dinner was. Everyone we worked with was organized and professional. Cannot recommend Karen enough!

Karen spire is the best of the best

Married 11/14/2020. Niki & Chip Conto..

My wife, our family and friends were very impressed with Karen, her team and the food/drinks. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you this was some of the best food we've ever experienced at a wedding or restaurant! It was all delicious. I just wanted to eat and eat all night! The bartenders were outstanding and Karen's recipes for signature drinks were incredible. Not only was the food delicious (and our guests continue to talk about it weeks later) but Karen and her team were exceptional.

During a year of craziness with COVID, Karen reassured our families that everything will run smoothly and they will take care of us. From the beginning months of planning , to the day of the event and setting up, until the night of the reception.... Everyone was extremely attentive, responsive, helpful and made sure everyone had a great time! The staff even personally took care of my parents/grandparents during the reception in a private room so they could feel safer due to COVID.

This was truly a dream-come-true kind of wedding and we give credit to Karen and her staff for making it so special! Thank you very much.

Food was at the top of our list for important wedding things for me and my husband. We recently got married(10/16) and Karen was our caterer. Karen was not only our caterer but she was also our go-to for pretty much all my venue/reception question, concerns and needs. Karen goes above and beyond to make your wedding day a success. The amount of compliments we got from our guests on how delicious the food was, was unmatched. Everyone loved all the food and there was a lot! No skimping on appetizers, main meal portions or desserts with Karen! She took care of us. I moved my wedding up from 12/12 to 10/16 due to Covid (to have an outdoor reception) and I was so stressed. The first person I called was Karen. She calmed me down and assured me that we can and will make this work. The day was perfect! Karen even came out of the kitchen to say a quick hello and take a picture with us. It was so sweet!
I also want to mention Erin too. Erin is the event coordinator that works with Karen, She was there for the entire reception as well as set up everything beautifully before hand and helped break it down at the end of the night. Erin made sure I was fed during cocktail hour(I got stuck upstairs with a bustling issue) and made sure I had a cocktail in hand. They work wonderfully as a team and I would 1000% recommend them if you want outstanding service and amazing food on your wedding day! One more shout out to Jen at Ciao Bella Bakery for her amazing work on my wedding cake! It tasted like heaven:)

Fantastic!

Karen and her team were fantastic and very easy to work with. Everyone raved about her food and mentioned it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. The short ribs and salmon were delicious and the appetizers were fantastic.Erin, her event coordinator, setup all the candles and pictures and coordinated the breakdown at Carinwood. The venue was so intimate and there were cocktail tables everywhere. The Carinwood staff was also great to work with.

Wedding Review

We picked Karen without even meeting her in person. She proved her years of experience over the phone by answering our questions quickly and thoroughly. She hosted the food tasting in her lovely home and made us feel instantly welcome. We fell in love with her food at first taste and she made our food visions come true! Throughout the planning process, she answered questions as timely as possible. At our wedding, she somehow made 100 meals all look and taste like home cooked meals. We are still getting compliments on the great quality of food at our wedding. Her system for the day-of runs very smoothly which is a relief to any bride. She was a true pleasure to work with. She has an assistant named Erin who acts as a day of coordinator. We were truly grateful to have Erin and she executed everything perfectly. If we were to do it all again, we would pick Karen Spire as our caterer in a heartbeat!

Karen is the best!!

We were so glad I had Karen as our caterer at Cairnwood Estate! She and her staff did a great job on our wedding day. The food was fantastic, all the staff members were very professional and their service was impeccable, perfect execution of what we have planned ahead. As for the taste of the food, my husband kept saying that it was even better than the tasting! I have also heard from many of our guests that they enjoyed the food very much, quoted, “best wedding food ever.” Erin did a fantastic job coordinating on the wedding day. She was there all the time to make sure everything went as we planned. She was sweet and considerate, brought me drinks and food to keep me energized. Both Karen and Erin were so delightful to work with. From the moment I contacted Karen via email, to the tasting at her house (wonderful experience!), to the rounds of discussion on details (linen choices, set up, etc), until the wedding day, it was always a positive experience working with them. Wedding planning can be very frustrating, but Karen and Erin have made it less stressful. They were encouraging, cheerful, and resourceful and helped me all the way to the big day. I can’t thank them enough for what they have done. You can’t go wrong with having Karen Spire as your caterer. Highly recommended!

Magical Wedding

Thanks to Karen, Erin, and her staff we had a magical evening!!!! Karen was so creative, friendly, helpful and easy to work with from day 1! She responded to emails promptly, had clever and creative ideas for the venue space, and most importantly, her food is DELICIOUS! It still amazes me that she cooked food for over 200 people and every entree was scrumptious - nothing over or under cooked for her. Our entrees included sea bass with Parmesan risotto, pulled pork and macaroni and cheese, and pumpkin ravioli with some butternut squash. So many of our guests stated that they could not decide which entree to pick! Several other guests went out to eat a few days after the wedding and did not pick pulled pork and mac and cheese at that restaurant because they knew it could not compare to Karen's cooking. And her staff! AMAZING! Everyone was so helpful and friendly - MANY guests complimented me on how awesome her bartenders were! Likewise, Erin was indispensable to me. She made all my wedding dreams come true with how she set up the venue (Cairnwood). She's so skilled and knowledgeable that I knew I could easily trust her to handle everything. Plus she's calm, has a great sense of humor, and is also very prompt with responding etc. We had a few meetings with Erin prior to the wedding, and she helped calm this bride's anxieties - to the point that I was not the slightest bit stressed or anxious on the day because I knew Erin (and Karen!) had it all under control. If I ever need another caterer, I am calling Karen Spire immediately! Thank you for making my wedding day perfect and magical!

Karen was amazing from beginning to end. From first contact, Karen was professional and always responded promptly. After the taste test, we needed her for our wedding. Karen was very organized and helpful throughout the entire planning process. She was very knowledge and was able to answer any questions we had for her about food and rentals.

Everyone during and after the wedding raved about the food! Karen was also accommodating to all dietary restrictions. She ensured that we got everything we wanted and more.

If you are looking for a caterer, choose Karen Spire. She is amazing and you will not regret it for a second.

Karen Spire Catering and Events provided full service catering at our wedding reception. The room was set up beautifully as we planned, the food was so delicious that several guests said this was the best meal they EVER had. The staff was caring, courteous and highly professional. The service was quite elegant. Everything was cleaned up in a short time and the church hall was left spotless. Karen was very accommodating to what we wanted to provide (alcoholic beverages, cake, pastries) and followed all of our requests. The event was everything we imagined but more than we dreamed of. It was the most beautiful day of our lives.

Karen Spire Catering came to us at our high school prom! We had it at Cairnwood Estate. Karen and Erin helped me with the entire planning process, and they were super kind through it all. Aside from great communication, our actual prom night was a huge success. Students claim we had the BEST food (especially appetizers) ever. Karen Spire Catering even made custom drinks for our Great Gatsby theme. They even helped us produce a Donut Board as part of our dessert. All of the food portions were right on. Overall, they were awesome. Even though I’m a high school student, it goes to show that they treat all of their customers with the same respect and priority!!

Karen Spire Catering is the absolute BEST! Karen is absolutely the real deal! I had my wedding in November at the Cairnwood Estate. Before selecting a caterer, Cairnwood does events where brides can come and meet all the caterers that work at the venue. When I attended Karen was the only owner there representing her company- She was also the only company prepared with wine, cheese, and an assortment of foods to show off her skills. As we meet other caterer's representative there were only pictures of food, higher prices, and a fixed menu with minimal flexibility. Karen was the most reasonably priced, allowed us the freedom of choosing literally any food we could dream up, and was the face of her company - she didn't have a spokesperson. From the moment I met her that night I knew it was a NO BRAINER. Our tasting was AMAZING and extremely personal. We were invited to her home kitchen where she served delicious food one after the next. The day of the wedding went absolutely seamless. Food was beyond excellent. I couldn't stop hearing about the ceviche on an edible spoon, the lamb chops, and the bacon wrapped dates, lobster ravioli, and the short ribs! As the bride I wished my stomach wasn't all jittery so I could really have eaten myself silly. Erin the day of coordinator was more incredible then I thought possible. Whenever I needed something I swear I just had to think it and there she would appear. She provided me and my husband trays of food, brought my husband a towel every 30 mins (because he tends to be on the sweaty side :P ), and even drove my car up so she could load my decorations, leftovers, and alcohol. If i needed someone for picture- Erin already found them! The list goes on and on!!
Essentially with Karen Spire Catering--you get your money's worth, they make delicious food, and they really truly care that your day is perfect. If you work with Karen you will be making the right choice!

I don't even know where to begin...Karen is absolutely incredible!! We booked Karen for our rehearsal brunch as well as our 220 person wedding the following day and everything was so perfect. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and Karen not only made an entire menu that I could eat, but people who can eat gluten and dairy couldn't tell that it was missing!! Everyone raved about how insanely good the food was. Also, her staff was incredibly efficient and professional. Everything was perfect, we can't recommend her enough!!

Karen Spire Catering is amazing! She did a wonderful job preparing for our wedding. We were able to visit her home for the most comfortable, laid-back tasting to select all or our menu options (which were ALL delicious, by the way). Karen had all kinds of fun suggestions, like mini ice cream cones as a dessert option, and she even helped us pick out our linens, silverware, and dinnerware for our reception. Since we got married at the Cairnwood, she also did an incredible job of ensuring our entire ceremony and reception was decorated perfectly. Our wedding day coordinator Erin did a great job of keeping everyone on task and organized before the wedding started. Erin also did a great job of letting us accommodate an unexpected plus 1. All of the tables were set up so well and the tablecloths were beautiful. The entire wait staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The food was so delicious, everyone at the wedding was raving about it. We had the filet, chicken piccata, and salmon, and all of the dishes were so well prepared. The mini ice cream cones were a hit with all of our guests. Karen and her team also had such a vast knowledge of our venue that it made everything go so well on our wedding day. Thank you Karen for giving us an amazing wedding day experience!

Karen's food is amazing. I remember after the tasting I was craving her food for a good week or two. Everything went smoothly at our wedding thanks to her staff. Dinner was served fast and everyone has told me they loved the food!

Karen and her team were amazing to work with. She brings you in to do a tasting at her house, you can select all of your food items, make suggestions, and she makes it happen! Her food was delicious and lovely presentation! Most of the vendors I looked at were going to charge extra to bring their portable kitchen equipment, not Karen! She was great and very affordable!

We were absolutely blessed to work with Karen Spire and her team for our July wedding at Cairnwood Estate. Her food was delicious and she worked closely with us to help us completely customize our menu to make it personal to us. She even helped me create a bacon bar as a surprise for my husband and it was amazing! In addition to our wedding, Karen catered a couples shower at my parents home last spring. Throughout the wedding process Karen and her team were professional, helpful, and a joy to work with. They went above and beyond in every sense of the word. She helped us figure out how much alcohol to purchase for the wedding, had incredible options for linens and china, and her day-of coordinator kept everything on track and run smoothly.

If I could give her more than a 5/5 she would deserve it! Do yourself a favor and book her for your wedding!

I have been to multiple events catered by Karen and she was an instant first choice when it came to my wedding. She is very friendly and professional and her food is amazing! She was great at helping us decide what food we wanted and we were able to have such a huge variety, which pleased all of the guests. When my now husband and I got engaged and decided to have our wedding at Cairnwood Estate - we thought that we might have a hard time picking from the 7 preferred caterers! After going to an open house, I set up tastings with 3 of the caterers we most wanted to try and possibly work with on our wedding day. Our first tasting was with Karen Spire - who invited the two of us, and 4 guests into her home and then cooked for us in her kitchen. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but there was such a sense of attention to detail, true talent and skill, and that personal touch we were looking for. Right after our tasting with Karen, we cancelled all our other caterer meetings and immediately booked her for our wedding! It was unanimous between all 6 of us at the tasting that we didn't need to look any further!

Working with Karen & her team from day 1 until our wedding day was nothing but a positive and pleasant experience! We knew from the start that we wanted to do food stations and Karen customized an entire menu for us based on our what we told her we wanted - we could not have been happier with everything. Throughout the planning process, Karen was always quick to respond to my emails and made my job very easy. Karen even went out of her way to come and meet with my florist and I at Cairnwood right before the wedding to make sure I felt confident in everything - that was so appreciated!

From the start I never had any doubt that our wedding food was going to be outstanding, and Karen Spire Catering and Events didn't disappoint. Our guests are still talking about how amazing our wedding food was - many of them saying it's the best they've ever had at a wedding, and I couldn't agree more! Karen Spire provided the catering service for my daughters’ wedding at The Cairnwood Estate in Bryn Athyn, PA in late September 2014. We first met Karen during the weekly open house at Cairnwood as she was one of several caterers present. Sitting down with Karen and discussing my daughters plans for her wedding and gaging her response and enthusiasm was very refreshing. She was warm, friendly and really “herself” and we came away feeling we have known her for many years. My daughter and I decided then Karen Spire Catering would be our vendor. We worked with Karen to develop the menu and then she prepared samples right in her home for us to taste. The tasting was incredible, the explanations, the suggestions she offered confirmed our original decision that we had the right caterer for our special event. She worked on providing the right color combinations for table cloths, silver ware, etc.
And now the event, it has been several weeks since the wedding and everyone has remarked how different the venue was from a normal wedding reception and that food had exceeded all expectations. Some of the Hors D'oeuvre’s were very different particularly the potato pancake w/smoked trout & dill, the date wrapped in bacon (one couple thought the bacon was wrapped around beef and chicken only to find out it was a date), and lastly basted garlic crockett’s w/ goat cheese. The presentation of the tables, the food tables, the servers, the wedding event coordinator, the chef’s were all so pleasant with smiles serving, excellent and really could not do enough.
I would have Karen Spire Catering serve another event for me in a heartbeat. The key to success for any event is those that are the supporting cast if you will. This cast is all Class, A+.

We were very blessed to have found Karen Spire through the preferred vendor list of our venue at Cairnwood Estates. She was very flexible and accommodating. Our guests raved the food and presentation were superb. It was a smashing success. On a side note - present a timeline of the day to your caterer. Be sure to communicate with the catering staff upon arrival to finalize any expected details for instance - a side dish of appetizers in the bridal suite.

I would highly recommend Karen Spires catering to ANYONE for ANYTHING. The only reason I would not would be because I don't want her to become so busy that she is not totally available for me and any event that I would have. Her sous chef, Paolo, was unbelievable. Karen and she, with her waitstaff, were organized, accessible, totally professional, and absolutely lovely. From start to finish they were WONDERFUL! We took their suggestions and were glad we did. The food was phenomenal and the guests were very happy with everything and everyone. They worked with smiles on their faces and tons of energy. I loved, loved, loved the experience.

Karen and Company traveled 1 1/2 hours to cater our event. They set everything up( ovens, etc.) in the oversized garage and cooked and served from there. Everything was butlered by her servers-- appetizers, small plates, cake to our guests in the back yard and on the upper deck. Our guests raved about the food! We had a double wedding outside at a private home. We only had to meet with Karen once beforehand to discuss and set up the menu. All other communication was by email or phone, as we did have a few changes as the date approached. Karen was extremely accommodating to all of our needs and helpful in planning our menu, while giving us an expansive array of choices. She and her crew are extremely competent, professional, experienced, and knowledgeable in their business. We had all the confidence in the world with them and they did not disappoint! We had over 100 guests at this affair and everyone talked about how awesome the food was long after the affair was over. And they were extremely reasonable with their pricing. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any event!

Karen and her crew are AMAZING!!! The entire experience was stress-free from her "we can do whatever you want" attitude to her fun, professional crew!

The food was FANTASTIC...guests are still talking about it!

Karen even provides a wedding coordinator, Erin, that was a nice extra!!!

During the process of selecting linens, Karen even offered me her own linens because I commented how pretty they were! You wont be disappointed if you hire Karen Spire Catering!!!

We checked out three different caterers for our engagement cocktail party (120 people), all of which were highly recommended. We chose Karen Spire because of the personal service and attention she gave us at our initial tasting and thereafter. She invited us to her home where she and her sous chef specially made about 25 different items just for us to try. I am a foodie and I know can be very fussy about the quality of the food, the flavor profiles and preparation. Karen welcomed my feedback on each item and had great suggestions about how it should be served. She never made me feel like I was being difficult or asking too much. In fact, it seemed like she couldn't do enough for us. On top of that her cost was very reasonable and well worth the value. She and I walked through the venue together, and she had fabulous advice on the set up and execution of our event. On the day of the event, she and her staff executed the food exquisitely. The taste was spot on and the presentation was gorgeous! Everyone raved about it, and the raves were well deserved. We truly had the time of our lives at the party, and that is due in large part to the talent and hard work of Karen Spire and her team. We are starting to plan our wedding and are trying hard to find a venue where we can use Karen Spire again. You will not go wrong with Karen Spire.

Karen Spire could not have done a better job in catering and running our Cairnwood Estate wedding. We initially scheduled a tasting with Karen because she is one of the lower priced caterers that works with Cairnwood, hoping the food would be ‘acceptable’ for our wedding day. As you could imagine, we were extremely (pleasantly!) surprised at the tasting when my husband, parents and I experienced the BEST MEAL we’ve ever had! Needless to say, we booked with her on the spot and she did not disappoint!! Karen held true to her initial quote which was such a great value, especially considering the quality of food and service we received! She responded to each one of my (many, many) emails & phone calls immediately and even talked through details with me while she was on vacation! Karen was exceptionally professional, reassuring, and patient with us as during the entire process and we are so thankful for that! We also had a few guests who have strict dietary restrictions and Karen & her team handled them with ease. Karen and her team were wonderful!! Our wedding day went SO smoothly – a huge thanks to them! Its 2 months later and guests continue to tell us how they will remember our wedding as ‘the one with the amazing food!’. Thank you again Karen for raising the ‘wedding food’ bar!

Our entire extended family researched and made contact with and/or had sample tastings with many caterers before deciding on Karen Spire and we were totally and completely thrilled with every aspect of dealing with her and her amazing staff. Since the wedding most of our 160+ guests have contacted us with nothing but the highest of praises for every aspect of Karen's food and service. to say that the food was very substantial portions and of the highest quality and taste would be a grave understatement...it was spectacular!!! Let me start by saying that I am a very detail oriented person with a bit of perfectionist mixed in, so it can be pretty hard to satisfy all my (sometimes unusual) requirements. However, I must say, I am speechless. The job Karen's Catering did on my wedding day not only met my expectations, but exceeded them!

We had our wedding at Cairnwood Estate and Karen's Catering not only provided all the food, but they set up both our ceremony and reception areas as well. Karen's food was some of the best I’ve ever tasted and I can't tell you how many guests commented on how delicious it was! The food on the day of the wedding tasted even better than it did during our tasting which was already fantastic! The meat was juicy, the vegetables fresh, and all the different flavors mixed together so perfectly your taste buds went wild!

Her staff was polite and well trained and her bartenders knew how to properly pour drinks. But it was more than just this which put Karen’s Catering to the top, it was their attention to the little details often forgotten that made them truly stand out. For instance, all the way back during our tasting Karen found out that I loved coconut shrimp. Well to my surprise, on the day of our wedding, she comes walking out with this big tray *just* for me! She knew how much I liked it and wanted to make sure I got more than my fill of it! When it came to setting up, Karen and her staff did everything exactly as me and my fiancee wanted. Even cleanup at the end of the night was better than expected. All of our possessions were safely packaged up and even lesser things like the table numbers were re-wrapped back in their original packaging so they wouldn't get damaged on the ride home. Every little thing that could have been done, was done!

With service like this you would expect to pay a real premium however, Karen was actually the most affordable caterer I spoke with! I truly thank her and her staff for providing us with such a fantastic experience!

Karen's Catering turned my wife's dream into a reality.

Our wedding was at The Pearl S. Buck Estate. The venue was beautiful and dispite the rain and the terential down pours the food was absoulutely awesome.

Karen met with my wife who is a chef as well and was able to come up with a menu that was fantastic. I have to say, I am very lucky I married a chef who recccomends a chef that she appreciates. I just had to show up and it was a breeze.

Now for you foodies that is cool but for you folks who do not care about food that is awesome.

I am by nationality half italian and half irish. My wife is Greek. It is a very impotant part of both of our cultures to have food as a centerpiece of our day. Karen nailed it. She was able to come up with a menu that satisfied all.

Her staff was very kind, attentive and down right excelent. If you are looking for a chef that will work with you and make your day a dream come true then look no further.

The price was not the cheapest but I can tell you that we had a budget and our expections were exceeded and worth every penny. Karen met with us in person, took the time to adapt to our wises and personally cared about her product and the value was extrodinary.

Karen is an amazing Chef! We interviewed a few caterers and even before we tasted Karen's food, we knew she was the one! Her professional and helpful demeanor put her at the top of our list! Fortunately for us, her food was truly absolutely delicious! Karen's help in the planning of our wedding was without a doubt priceless! She helped through many aspects of the planning and coordination. She was very patient!

Karen's coordinator Berith was also a pleasure to work with as we approached our wedding day. She relieved more stress than she will ever know! She knew what to ask and how to approach any concerns we had. Thanks to Karen and Berith everything went smoothly!

If we could give Karen's Catering more than a 5 .. we would! We would positively recommend them!

My husband and I are self-admitted foodies. I was in the fine-dining restaurant industry for 10 years as a maitre' d and sommerlier. My husband comes from a Northern-Italian family, if you know anything about Northern Italians, you know they take their food VERY SERIOUSLY!!! More so than any other aspect of the wedding, the food was the most sacred to us because we felt it defined us and our passions in life. And because of our love for food, we were very selective when it came to choosing a caterer. And oh boy, did Karen Spire deliver!!! Every dish was perfectly executed and beautifully served (and remember, we're tough critics)!!! What we really liked about Karen's business is that you deal directly with her, not a representative or salesperson. Her resume is extensive and she has considerable experience with fish and seafood. She's innovative, accommodating, and my favorite... personable (along with her staff). Hire her, your guests will rave about the food!!!

Karen's catering did an exception job at my 2010 wedding. She was quite flexible with any changes we had and her food was amazing. She was much more than a caterer as she provided much more because of the venue we had chosen. She also had an assistant which was extremely helpful in keeping things going and on schedule throughout the day. I would highly recommend her and her filet :) to anyone!

Karen Spire did the most amazing job of catering our wedding! She was able to work within our budget, provide a diverse menu, and provide incredible service. Diane, the head of the house, was so great - keeping me on schedule all night long, making sure I tasted the food and got whatever I wanted to drink. After the appetizers, guests were already saying this was the best food and service they had seen at a wedding. From one guest: "Christina, the wedding itself was incredible – you know how particular I am about food and the food and service were great, the best ever."

Karen did an EXCEPTIONAL job with our wedding. She is what made our wedding day a success!!!! She was the most flexible with our meal options. We wanted something different from the typical menu selections, so we asked Karen if she would be able to cook Caribbean food for us. She made whatever we wanted. EVERY guest went up for a third helping of food - they said it was incredible!! Thanks Karen for doing such an AWESOME job with our wedding. Karen did a fantastic job putting together an entirely vegan wedding for us. She really impressed us at the tasting, and carried that through to the wedding. Each dish was delicious and included a good amount of food. Many guests (especially non-vegan guests) remarked how delicious the food was. Because we knew some guests would be skeptical about a vegan wedding, it was of the utmost importance that the food be the best. And it was. She also was really helpful accommodating special requests (providing a raw vegan meal for one guest, and a gluten-free vegan meal for a couple of others).

As a long-time vegan, I explained to Karen that the one thing that would absolutely ruin my wedding is if something was not vegan. She definitely understood and gave that the appropriate consideration and care.

As good as Karen's food is, you might expect the price to be unaffordable, but her fees were actually better than most of the other caterers I called.

High Quality, Amazing Value

Karen is an extremely talented chef. She makes an incredible short rib. Her staff is professional and elegant. The butlered Hors d'oeuvres were out of this world. I highly recommend KarenSpire. Our wedding reception was perfect!

Also, a big shoutout to her event coordinator Erin who was very helpful when it came to silverware, linens, etc.

Karen was sweet, her prices very reasonable, and her food some of the best I’ve ever had. We discovered that Karen is a cell phone person, not an email person – we had a much easier time communicating by calling her cell phone directly (she often took a while to reply to emails). Karen took care of everything for us – rentals, bars, setup and cleanup – which made the planning so much more relaxed. Everything worked out really well and we were very happy to have chosen her. I would definitely recommend her!

My husband and I fell in love with Karen the first time we met with her. She welcomed us into her home and cooked for us like we were family. Like one of the reviewers said, her food is some of the best you will ever have. She puts love into it and you can taste it. I found her to be very responsive and accommodating. She also helped us tremendously with her advice, recommendations, and back up plans. If it was not for Karen I would probably give my wedding day 4 stars instead of 5 stars. Although I was happy with Karen, I was not too pleased with her event coordinator. There was a major disconnect when it came to execution. None of our vendors ate because no one ever told them where their food was. I was way too busy being the bride to notice. Dinner also ran very behind schedule and a few of our guest left without eating :-(. Also, we ordered mini desserts and it seemed like only half were put out for our guests. The mini desserts doubled as our wedding favors. There were quite a few things that went wrong. The event coordinator seemed overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I would still highly recommend Karen. She is the best!

Food is delicious and staff very helpful and courteous. Erin, the event coordinator, was easy to work with and helped to decorate and put everything away at the end saving us the hassle. She also helped us be able it to eat without standing in line at the buffets.

I can’t comment on the quality of Karen’s services, unfortunately. I met with her on 7/5/18 to discuss my menu and to show her the location. The meeting went well and she initially was very responsive. Unfortunately, over the next 4 weeks, she never produced any invoice or estimate for me. I asked several times and was met with excuse after excuse. She was able to jump into action and serve a 300 person funeral on a moments notice though. So, depending on your total profit to her she may or not be able to respond to you timely. After waiting a month, and sending several unanswered emails, I had no choice but to find another caterer. (Said caterer was able to meet me in person, discuss all my desires, create the menu and provide the contract and pricing within 24 hours of my first contact.

Everyone has that event that means the world to them. I would suggest looking elsewhere unless your event is at Cairnwood which is Karen’s preference.
