Do yourself a favor and book Karen!!

We did a destination wedding to Kona, Hawaii and found Karen thorough our wedding venue's blog. When first looking at her photos compared to other photographers, we instantly knew she would be the best fit for us and deliver fantastic photos as well. All the positive reviews which describe her down to earth, personable and professionalism are spot on.
We've never hired a photographer before and wasn't sure what to do and how to pose, but Karen and her assistant, Hannah, were great with guiding us along the way and making us feel relaxed and at home. When spontaneous things happened (tearing up before the wedding and impromptu dancing), Karen and Hannah would spring out of nowhere to capture the moment.
Even with her computer in the shop and on a loaner laptop, she was extremely punctual and gave us sneap peek shots within a few days. And of course, the shots looked amazing!! We are excited for all the shots to come our way. Thank you Karen and Hannah!
So do yourself a favor and book her now! :)

Super experience

Karen photographed our elopement on Big Island in September 2019 and did also a session of honeymoon photography. We couldn't have wished for a better experience! She was very well prepared for both photoshoots, had great ideas and guided us perfectly, as neither of us is used to having our pictures taken. But in front of Karen's camera, everyone can feel like a supermodel! ;)
We got a selection of sneak peek photos the next day and they were much more than we could have hoped for! Karen has a perfect eye for lights and colours and every picture looks like it could be in the cover of a magazine. Highly suggested!

Gorgeous Wedding Pictures and Video

Karen was the only wedding photographer we interviewed, as from the first time I connected with her, I was sure she was the right choice. She was flexible and easy to communicate with, and the option to add videography at such a reasonable cost was perfect! She was timely in getting our photos back, as promised, and the cost to expedite to just a 2-week turnaround was SO reasonable, she truly came through for us every step of the way. The photos themselves are absolutely breathtaking, and I would recommend her to anyone!! She captured the best day of our lives with a true eye for beauty and I could not be happier with the end result. She took almost 1200 pictures and I am thrilled with every single one. The video we added on was so worth it, they captured the entire ceremony and wonderful highlights of the rest of the day and night, and the photo albums that one of my bridesmaids paid to have added on is of the highest quality and the photos Karen chose for it are perfect. It will be a keepsake we'll treasure for the rest of our lives!

Branson Wedding in Kona

Our wedding was captured so beautifully by Karen!! She helped us plan out the ceremony and was there from the beginning giving us tips and suggestions for vendors. Her knowledge of light and angles was amazing! We are so happy with her work and her assistant Hannah! She managed to make our pictures romantic, beautiful and fun! She was also super nice and laid back. They managed to get many pictures where we forget they were even there! Then the next day we got 50 previews and were already in love with the results. The rest of them came a few months later and we were blown away. So talented!! We are grateful we found her!

Karen was the photographer at our recent wedding on the big island. She was absolutely amazing to work with and captured the most beautiful moments from our special day. We were planning a destination wedding and Karen was always available and very responsive by phone and email. She had us pick out shots we really liked and post it on Pinterest, and then had a copy of those images with her at our wedding and was able to capture everything we wanted. When we arrived on the big island, we met with her in person to go over all the details of what we envisioned. She came fully prepared and had great ideas on everything. She and her assistant took getting ready photos and truly exceeded my very high expectations. She is very easy to work with, calm, organized, and captured light and sunsets in a way I had never seen done before. She even drove us in her car to another site to get sunset pictures. Despite unplanned delays and flooding at our wedding, Karen was very flexible and made sure we got all the images we wanted. She was very efficient and such a pleasure to work with. I also did a lot of price comparisons before we booked her, and she was very reasonable for the high quality of the product you get. We got a sneak peek with around 50 images from our wedding the day after our big day. She also provides the print release for everything and a USB of all the images, making it super easy and cheap to get the pictures printed from any site. We also have an online gallery that our entire family was able to view and order from. Karen is also making our wedding album where we get the final look and pick of the pictures. She has such creative, artistic ideas and we cannot wait to see the wedding album. Hiring Karen as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She went above and beyond in every single thing and even came to our rehearsal, so she knew my family and friends before our wedding day! I would highly recommend her to anyone!!

Karen was everything I can expect from a wedding photographer and much more. She respond to my emails in a short period of time, which in Hawaii was not that common. All my interaction with her I can feel her professionalism, kindness, and above all, caring for us on our special day. I didn't hire a wedding planner, so Karen recommended me florist, makeup artist. She even brought her own new year sparklers when I mentioned that I couldn't find any vendor to ship sparklers to Hawaii. Working with her was such a breeze. She is responsive, on time and the best at what she does. She sent me tips about how to prep for the wedding photography. Those were helpful and made the day less stressful as we always had some extra time for a few more photos at each session. And I enjoyed the wedding, felt relaxed throughout. The sneak peak photos were amazing, also personal, like telling a story. I highly recommend Karen for wedding and other photography sessions. She is so nice, so sweet, so acommodative and I will never forget my time with her.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer in hawaii, look no further! I was lucky enough to have Karen photograph my wedding elopement last week and I couldn't be happier with the sneak peak photos she sent us! In just a short amount of time, she was able to capture such a variety of beautiful photos for us. And coming from someone that considers herself unphotogenic, thats saying a lot! My husband and I always look so awkward when posing for pictures but she gave good instruction and jumped right in to demonstrate different poses, which was so helpful! She has such a good eye and really makes her vision come alive beautifully. As we are not from hawaii, I was nervous about flaky vendors, but Karen was always very responsive via email, which put my mind at ease. Your photos are all the memories you will have at the end of the day so you want to invest in a talented and experienced photographer. I highly recommend her, you will not be sorry!

We chose to do a destination wedding on the big island of hawaii. So my husband did a search for photographers in the area and we found Karen. We really liked her style of photography. And let me tell you we are so glad we picked Karen. She is amazingly talented and our wedding photos turned out amazing. I'm so happy with the way our photos turned out. We hired her for the whole day; she must have been with us for about 12 hours that day. She gave us more than a thousand photos, and I like so many of them that I do not know which photos to post. Getting it down to even 800 photos were hard. I have to cut that down to even less, like 200 to post. Her photos are so good that it's hard to do. She's very calm and kind of on a softer spoken side and she gives really great artistic direction so you don't have to have much experience taking photos. She had me at ease and I was not stressed out at all at my wedding taking photos. She took photos from me getting ready in the morning to our departure with the sparklers around 10PM that night - 12 full hours and still all quality photos from beginning to end. You should look at her portfolio, they speak for themselves.

If I could give Karen 10 stars I would!

She absolutely MADE our wedding! It was the best money spent, and the thing we treasure the most afterwards. The wedding was perfect and I get to relive it with these photos. It went by so fast and going back through and seeing it captured on film is such a gift. Karen has a way of capturing the essence of a person in her photos, their personality shines through.

I have never seen another photographer who can do this. She made me and my husband feel so comfortable! Not to mention the whole family!

She was the reason everything went so smoothly on the wedding day; her advice before hand, and her help the day of, not to mention her calming presence, were a huge factor in it being so perfect!

I can't recommend her enough! There isn't another photographer with her skill that I have found. She is an artist in every sense, but she has no ego or any of that high maintenance stuff that some artists bring. She is happy for your suggestions and requests, and damn does she make you look good!!!

Karen really made me Princess for a day... actually 2 days cause I got another shoot afterwards!

Karen makes me feel like a model. As someone who spend a quarter of a century describing herself as un-photogenic, that's saying a Lot! She is gifted and she is a gift.

We picked Karen for our wedding because her style and portfolio matched what we were looking for. The result was beyond our expectation!
She was extremely organized. She provided questionnaires to try to understand our needs and gave us some to-do list and tips to help us prepare ahead of time. She saved us so much time and work by taking initiatives to learn about us and our day-of.

My partner (now husband) and I decided to get married on the Big Island while on vacation this past October. We looked at quite a few photographers and based on web searches and reviews, we decided on Karen Loudon Photography. Our primary reason for using Karen Loudon Photography was her eye for incorporating the natural beauty of Hawaii into her photos!

Karen provided us with great service. From my initial inquiries, to finalizing the contract, payment processing and setting up the location date and time, Karen answered my questions in a timely manner. Everything was handled via email which worked out great for me since we're so busy at home. On the day of our ceremony, she introduced herself and provide us with great input as to where to have the ceremony and from there, she dropped back and did her magic during our ceremony. After our ceremony we took her direction and had our photo session. It was a fun experience!

My husband and I would highly recommend Karen Loudon Photography to anyone looking for wedding pictures! In fact we are talking about doing another session the next time we're on the Big Island.

We were married on Maui in May 2014 and hired Karen Loudon to fly over from the big island. I was ecstatic when she had the availability, because she was the only photographer whose style and images I fell in love with. Her eye and talent set her miles apart from any of the other photographers I came across in my search. From the second I met her, I knew I had made the right decision. She is incredibly down-to-earth, friendly, easy-going, and made the whole experience fun and memorable. I can't say enough positive things about her! We booked Karen for our elopement in Hawaii. She was fantastic from the beginning recommending the perfect beach and minister. We couldn't have been happier with her. She is the loveliest of people, very relaxed and warm.

She comes with a bank of great ideas and made the whole thing stress free. Her sneak preview photos are just beautiful and everyone was very jealous of it all once they saw the beautiful pics.

Our 13 month old son was there too and his being there didn't phase her and she was great at making sure to get great shots of him too

Highly recommended if you want an excellent and lovely photographer to make your day memorable.

Karen was amazing! She showed up exactly on time and prepared. She was so sweet and her eye for light and detail were phenomenal. Everything positive that you have read on previous reviews are all true and consistent. I chose her because I wanted a photojournalistic approach and her portfolio on her website was just stunning. It stood out from the rest of the other photographers that I researched on. Karen Loudon is professional, on time, engaging, and beautifully talented. Her soft spoken demeanor makes you feel comfortable when you pose for pictures yet her directions are explicit. I am from Los Angeles and my correspondences with her were all via e-mail, yet she was quick to respond.

Initial planning was stress-free, she made sure that it was allowed to professionally photograph the location I wanted which was close to St Benedict's Church (where I got married), The Place of Refuge. Also, since I will only be able to meet her the day of the wedding, she encouraged me to send her inspirational photos that I would like to be photographed as and she no doubt exceeded them. Her pictures ended up looking way better than the pictures that I pinned on my Pinterest board!

She was also very flexible. I had changed my mind a couple of times on where she would start, and we did make some changes of what to shoot and where along the way. She was very graceful about it. She even let us shoot a little "photo bomb" photo which came out great! Ultimately, I had her for 5 hours for 3 locations (church, beach, reception) for about 20 guests. I did not feel rushed or scuttled along, and she covered almost every detail of the wedding events.

My sneak peaks came as quickly as she promised. I got married in November, I got the rest of my images late February and they looked amazing. Everyone who saw them were all impressed. Everything from "This was in studio!" to "You guys look like models" to "Was this shot for a wedding magazine cover?" They were all amazed. It looked beautiful, intimate, soft, romantic, and even little vintage-y. A great experience! Worth the money! Thank you Karen!

Karen took many beautiful photos for us. She even stayed a bit longer for us when our cake cutting started late. Some photographers are sticklers for time and come across miserly with their constant clock watching but Karen wasn't like that at all. Paying for my wedding myself and seeing how so much of it is a bald-faced cash grab this really resonated with me. She was very personable and took lots of photos for us, even working directly from a wish list provided by my wife.

We are so happy Karen was available to capture both our reception dinner event and wedding day. Her quality of work is very high. She has an easy personality to work with capable of making any nervous couple comfortable right off the bat in any intimate setting.

My husband and I planned to elope to the island of Hawaii (the "Big Island") back in January of this year, so we started planning quite early on. While we didn't want to spend a lot to get married on the whole, photography has always been a very important aspect of the wedding to me and well worth any money spent.

After searching for photographers in the Kona area, I stumbled upon some of Karen's work and was instantly smitten with her soft and intimate photography style. We didn't wait long to book her and were so happy that she was able to take our photos this December on our wedding day.

Karen was timely in responding to emails right from the start and she made the process entirely easy. Because we didn't arrive to Hawaii Island until just a couple days before our wedding day, Karen made the time to meet with us for coffee once we arrived to discuss a few last minute details as well as to see what we had in mind. I had created a Pinterest board with some ideas, and Karen very thoughtfully incorporated those ideas into our wedding day photo session.

The next day Karen had a handful of photos ready to provide us with a "sneak peek" and both my husband and I were blown away. The beauty and simplicity of our day that Karen captured in the photos was absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see the rest of them!

I'd be more than happy to recommend Karen Loudon for anyone getting married on Hawaii Island. She also apparently does family sessions, engagement sessions, maternity, etc. and I've got no doubt she'd be a breeze to work with in any of those capacities!

I had my destination wedding in July 2013. I picked Karen Loudon for photography based on her style and positive reviews on Wedding Wire. Karen was professional and so easy to work with. I loved how knowledgeable Karen was about the island. Karen sent my "first look" pictures within just a few days of my wedding and the other 500+ pictures in a few weeks. I loved EVERY SINGLE picture! Karen captured so many beautiful moments with my family and loved ones. Thank you so very much. I wish I could give Karen way more than 5 stars for her work. She was not only very professional but super friendly and personable. When she arrived at the hotel I was a nervous mess, it was pouring rain on my outdoor Kona wedding etc. As soon as Karen got to the room chatted with me for a few moments and got to work shooting detail shots I knew I was in good hands. She was able to use the rain to my advantage too, we took some very cute umbrella shots :) My sneak peak photos were the more beautiful then I had ever imagined them to be, my mom cries whenever she looks at them. Karen and her assistant went above and beyond to get the perfect shots. Karen's assistant even loaned me her shoes so I could walk on the wet lava rocks to get those perfect shots, I was in heels of course. Loved Karen, loved her assistant..Brae? I know I have the name right, the spelling not so sure, apologies. Dynamite photos! I want to come back to Hawaii to do a maternity shoot with Karen, hopefully very soon :)

Karen takes the most stunning photographs which is why we choose her to photograph our Big Island wedding. Trying to find a photographer on the Big Island from Australia was challenging until we came across Karen's website and saw the stunning photos that she takes.

We certainly weren't disappointed when we got our first set of photos .... they reflected our special day so perfectly.

Karen was our photographer for our small intimate wedding on the Big Island Hawaii. She took the time ahead to ask me what I wanted and at the time hit every note. I found her easy to work with, very helpful in guiding us along the way and she truly made the process easy and fun for us. I dont photograph well and so far from what I've seen so far from the shots taken her expertise and abilities to capture feelings and beauty are worth every cent. I more than highly recommend Karen to any Bride out there, you wont be disappointed. She is as good as her portfolio shows....

I am also a photographer in Kona, and chose Karen Loudon to shoot my engagement photos because her work is always beautiful and unique. I am completely comfortable being around Karen and trust her every move as a photographer. She will be my "family photographer" as I have big plans for her to shoot our engagement, wedding, boudoir, future pregnancy, infant and family portraits! If I could give Karen 10 out of 5 I would! She was so calm and responsive to my needs. Even starting with a survey when we first booked so she would have information about our families and photos we liked! She took exactly all the information I told her and remembered it (down to my good side and shots I wanted) she even let us take control and just do fun photos that we're not planned!
She even stayed a little late to get all the last shots I wanted! I just got a preview of my photos and I am OBSESSED! People are already telling me they look like they should be in a magazine! You will not be disappointed and you will absolutely be able to capture the moment you want with Karen as your photographer! Her assistant is GREAT as well!!!
Wish we lived in Hawaii so we could use her for all our photos down the line!

When people tell you that your wedding photos are so beautiful that you look like you should be on the cover of a magazine, you know you have a fabulous photographer! Karen is that photographer. Karen photographed our destination wedding on the Big Island of Hawaii. She came highly recommended by our wedding planner and didn't disappoint. Karen was wonderful! I was very nervous since we did a destination wedding and didn't meet her until right before the wedding. She was so helpful and made me feel very comfortable. We were blown away by the sneak peak photos we received from her. My husband didn't want to spend the money to get a photographer but is now saying it was so worth the money. Karen was amazing!!! She was calm and patient with my crazy family. My wedding party and I were running so late trying to get me into hair and makeup and she took it upon herself to help me get my dress ready for pictures, finding the shoes and invitation, etc. She went above and beyond!!!! She captured each priceless moment and the pictures were so elegant and beautiful. She incorporated everything I asked her to in the questionnaire. Everyone loved working with her! Having her take our pictures was definitely one of the highlights of the night!

I booked Karen to do my wedding photography this coming December, as well as boudoir session to surprise my groom on our wedding day. I just had my boudoir shoot this past weekend and i was very apprehensive and nervous. Karen made me feel at ease and comfortable, she was friendly, kind and easy going, she definitely knows what she is doing and strives to get the perfect angle and lighting to create the perfect shot. She made me feel confident and helped me to really enjoy the experience. By the time the shoot was done I was wishing it didn't have to end! I can't wait to see what she has in store for our wedding in December! After seeing her photos on her website, I called Karen and left her a message. I wanted her to photograph my wedding on Hapuna Beach.

She returned my call promptly and was extremely friendly and helpful over the phone, even making suggestions on timing and locations for the photo shoot.

Once in Hawaii we changed our plans and decided to get married on a different beach. Karen was more than happy to accommodate our request.

I found her very friendly and easy to work with. She made me feel comfortable enough to just be myself in front of the camera.

I booked Karen for our engagement photos while we were on vacation in Hawaii. My fiance had proposed just a few weeks before that so the experience of booking wedding vendors was all new. Karen had the perfect plan for us to get all the engagement "backdrops" we had wished for.

I was self conscious of my curvy figure and Karen had little pointers for me to pose in a more flattering way. When I got the sneak peak photos I looked two sizes smaller in all the photos!! Just what all girls want :)

My fiance is shy and his comments after the session were how comfortable he felt, that Karen was really friendly and she made the experience enjoyable. Just what you want for the man of your dreams!

My Husband and I choose Karen as our wedding photographer, and would 10000 times over! Karen was willing to take time to meet with us prior to the wedding when we were back for a visit (we are from the mainland), and was right on top of any requests and communications. Even on the crazy day of, Karen was cool, calm, and collected, which helped all of us to relax. Her photos speak for themselves...she has an eye for beauty, and really knows how to capture Hawaii. We LOVE the final product of photos, and what's even better is her philosophy to give access to all of the photos she edits. They are something we will truly cherish for our whole lives! We ended up with almost 1000 photos for our 5-hour time with Karen. Absolutely amazing. We hope to use Karen in the future as our lives continue on together and our family grows.

I got in contact with Karen in September when my fiance and I had decided we were going to do a destination wedding for 12/12/12! Karen was responsive and helped us decide on a package that would fit our needs and though we had been communicating primarily via email as we were on the mainland, I felt pretty confident that we'd made a great decision having Karen as our photographer.

The day of our wedding Karen and her assistant Morgan were prompt and were very accommodating to the wedding coordinator's listed schedule! Thankfully it was just us, the bride and groom at this event as we had planned a surprise wedding while we were on vacation! Being usually insecure with photos and super self-conscious of myself, I've always been pretty awkward and uncomfortable taking photos...but Karen in her sweet and calm voice directed me to do exactly what she wanted....WE LOVED how she really thought things out and how she wanted to place us and pose and Morgan really helped ease my tension by making me laugh.

From our getting ready photos to the actual ceremony and sunset photos, they really made us feel like the day was about the two of us...most of the time I didn't even notice they were there as Karen documented one of the most important days in our lives...I would consider that as a compliment because I've heard many stories of demanding/pushy photographers making your day miserable! BUT KAREN was the complete opposite!! Just simply AMAZING and super easy to work with! We had sooo much FUN and a truly wonderful experience with her. When we first got in touch with Karen, we knew right away that we were going to have a positive experience. She was responsive, very accommodating of our needs and requests, and made the entire process very smooth-sailing. This was a big thumbs up for us because the first photographer we tried to work with was just difficult.

This was our first time in front of a professional photographer, so we weren't quite sure how to pose for our wedding photos. At the same time, we didn't want a photographer who demanded certain poses or certain shots. Karen was open to our suggestions and she also gave us suggestions. We really appreciated her honesty as well in terms of what would make a good photo. We haven't gotten all the wedding photos yet but Karen did upload several sneak peek photos the day after, and we fell in love with them. What amazing talent Karen has! There were some photos that we didn't even know she took!

I would highly recommend Karen in a heartbeat. I know there are many photographers in the area to choose from, so if you are trying to choose who to go with, definitely go with Karen.

Karen and her assistant are fantastic! We live in Texas and had planned a destination wedding in Kona. We were worried about finding a good, reliable photographer to capture our special day. We loved the entire experience with Karen! She put us at ease and had great ideas to bring out our natural behaviors; she made us a lot less camera shy. Karen is one of those awesome down to earth people that you feel you somehow already know. I couldn't imagine a better photography experience at our wedding than what we had with Karen Loudon. Karen was very easy to work with and made our wedding day all that more comfortable. She took the time to listen to our desires and work within our budget means.

We were initially drawn to Karen because of her pricing options and our small budget. That said, she still showed up early and stayed late, taking an enormous amount of high quality photos. We are also pleased to have an original copy of the photos for ourselves, a feature few other photographers will offer.

We could not be more happy with Karen's photography work for our wedding. If you need a photographer for any occasion on the Big Island, do yourself a favor and call Karen!

I can't begin to explain how AMAZING Karen is. Her work is unbelievable and she captures the most amazing moments with exceptional light and vibrant colors. Everyone is in love with our wedding pictures. We also did a "Trash the Dress" Session a few days after our wedding. I had an expensive ball gown and I got fully in the water, and my dress is totally fine :). Just a little sand which comes out with a dry clean. I can't express how happy we are with Karen and her professionalism with her humble and very sweet personality. Very easy to work with her. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The only thing that I'm bummed about is that I can't use her for every event unless I fly her to LA :/

We picked Karen after reviewing her website and blog and after getting quotes from karen and a few others. We liked her photos the best when reviewing the websites of several kona photographers....and her prices were reasonable; she also has great reviews. I really liked the fact that her prices were on her website....most are not. And she is available for a one hour session while some are not. And she provides the pics on CD. We asked the best time of day for pics and she recommended 5:45 for the best light (she was right)! She was very prompt in email replies to get our date booked in advance. She was on time and very nice / very professional....she asked if we had anything in mind and also offered some great suggestions as we did not have many specific shots in mind. She offered to stay a couple extra minutes to get some final champagne shots after we finished up outside....so great of her to do. I actually want to pay her more than the agreed on amount as she was willing to go a little extra for us. We received several sneak peak pictures secured online the very next day. The pictures are great - exactly what we envisioned! I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures and especially some of the fun shots she took (husband spinning me around, etc)! I would definitely recommend Karen...... Hurry, book now!

It is one year since our wedding and I am just as thrilled today to have worked with Karen as I was on my wedding day. Karen is a consummate professional and had a schedule and shot list for us. We did our photos before our wedding, since we had a sunset wedding and in the midst of setting up and getting ready we did our photo shoot. Karen was completely amazing and kept us all on task. And not only that, she kept us relaxed and at ease.
She also photographed the feel and energy of our reception which matches my memory of that night perfectly. And she captured moments that I will treasure forever.
Our photos are incredible and so beautiful. I would recommend Karen to any couple wanting amazing memories of their wedding day. Thank you Karen! <3 <3 <3

Karen was extremely easy and fun to work with. She helped us loosen up in front of the camera and we ended up really enjoyed the experience. She got so many wonderful pictures, and was so unobtrusive that most of the time I didn't even notice that she was taking my picture! She captured every moment of our wedding perfectly, and managed to get some really good pictures of everybody at the wedding.

The pictures are beautiful, she responded quickly to e-mails and phone messages, and her costs are very low in relation to other Big Island photographers. I'd highly recommend Karen for any event!

We were fortunate to find Karen to photograph our photos for our wedding in Kona. She was absolutely perfect! We were very nervous on our wedding day and Karen was very calm and non-intrusive. She made us both feel comfortable and her suggestions for pictures really paid off. We wanted an old fashioned feel at our wedding and the pictures really convey that. We pulled it off- in large part thanks to Karen!
We love the pictures. Her prices are the best I found, she was very generous with her time (she was with us for way over the agreed upon one hour), prompt (she beat us and the officiant!), and just very easy to be around. She was very professional and intuitive in her craft. Thank you Karen for the best pictures ever. We absolutely adore what you did! Karen Loudon takes BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUE pictures geared towards those she is photographing. I would wholeheartedly recommend Karen Loudon for pictures.

I live near Syracuse NY. I came to Hawaii to renew my wedding vows, even though, we were married on May 6, 2011. My original photos from that day are a reminder of a tragic event that happened 4 hours before my wedding...my mother, passed away unexpectedly. I needed some time to heal and came to Hawaii to do that. I found Karen online and was stunned by her pictures! She is truely extremely gifted and talented. She will make you feel at ease and you will be pleasantly suprised with the finished product. I highly recommend Karen. When we are back for our 10th wedding anniversary, we will be callling Karen! She is just WOW!

Karen is an amazing photographer. We were apprehensive about pictures but after we met with Karen and did a pre wedding day photo shoot we were put at ease. She made us look great and as a result we were relaxed on our wedding day. Karen is fantastic and I would choose her again every time!

Karen was the photographer at our wedding and honestly we were NOT let down. She did and amazing job capturing our big day and giving us photographs that take our breath away. Our experience working with her was awesome, she got back to us via email promptly, answered any questions we had, and gave us excellent tips on places to pose and how to pose. Our guest have enjoyed the photos as well and have commented to us on how Karen did a great job capturing our big wedding traditions at our reception.
Karen also took our "Trash the Dress" pictures and I must honestly say that if you are interested in trashing your dress then Karen is who you should go to. She has the perfect location and really lets you be yourself.

Karen, we thank you dearly for the breathtaking images of our big day; there are too many great ones too choose from for our living room :) You Rock!

I can't say enough good things about Karen! She was helpful and responsive months before Big Day. The pictures came out AMAZING! Everyone in the wedding and the family love them! I live in Washington and I thought hiring someone in Hawaii would be impossible, It was isn't! I looked at everyone's web sites and priced them out, Karen was the best choice we could have made. Import fact-You get the rights to your pictures so you don't have to keep ordering and paying long after the wedding is over. We had Karen do some black and white getting up shots, they came out so beautiful, the getting ready shots and the wedding and all the family and friend shots, we have over 1,200 pictures in 8 hours!! and they are all amazing! We'll have to go back to Kona to do all our family shots! Darn! :D

We originally got screwed on our first wedding photographer 3 weeks before the wedding I found Karen and contacted her about doing our wedding! Although last minute she was happy to commit and be there to capture our wonderful day! She was wonderful and was amazing! I have to admit I am a bit picky I myself am a photographer and like things done a certain way! She came in and it was like we had know her for years! She knew exactly what we wanted and I couldn't have been more happy! Not only is she a great person she is a true artist and her eye is amazing! Thank you Karen!!!!!!

Karen was the photographer for our destination wedding in Kailua-Kona Hawaii on Sept 2-3, 2011. I am so happy we found her because she did an amazing job and we love our pictures. People have told us that the pictures should be in contests or magazines and I agree, I can't even believe they are our wedding pictures. It is a bit scary when you book vendors for a destination wedding based on what you find online but in this case we couldn't have been luckier or happier with our photographer Karen. Not only were the pictures amazing but she offers really competitive pricing and I feel we got way more than we could have hoped for. Thanks Karen for capturing our beautiful wedding in Hawaii!! Karen worked closely with us to develop a theme for our wedding. We decided on a "Midsummer Night's Dream" and tailored our decor, clothing and lighting to match it. The result was exquisite! Karen staged a magical set of an antique chandelier and enchanted table and chairs to shoot some truly unique photos of my wife and I (with some shots with the best man and maid of honor). Our ceremony, through Karen's effectively lit lens, looked as if we were transported to heaven. That is what Karen does the best actually, she gets a sense of what your "heavenly" wedding would be and creates a set of images which captures you in this heaven. Much mahalo!

I can't thank you enough for your loving gift. It was a beautiful and gentle wedding, and you captured it all. I love the pictures they are wonderful. I am grateful to who you are as a photographer as well. You were always calm, even when we had to change the venue the day before. You went the extra mile to visit the new venue and check out the surroundings, resulting in some great pictures. You were always calm, in a hectic situation, and I was always met with a smile when I looked up to see you. Most of the time I was unaware of you as you worked. My family and I were delighted with Karen. She took the time to talk with us before the ceremony and set up shooting locations. She was very flexible and willing to work with our preferences and ideas about the photography.
My wedding was on a budget, and I wasn't originally planning on hiring a photographer to save money. I'm SO GLAD I changed my mind! Karen offers excellent value for the quality of the photography and she includes full rights to the photos in her price. I HIGHLY recommend her for weddings or for any occasion when you want a very talented and professional photographer.

Maybe 5/5 seems a little too perfect but I am absolutely thrilled with my wedding pictures. I was not looking forward to seeing the pictures as I am the least photogenic person I know, but they really came out great !She has a knack for lighting and ideas that are truly artistic and unique. She is also very patient and will give you all the attention and time needed to ensure getting the perfect shots. I recommend Karen to everyone, she will not let you down.

Where do I even begin? My wife and I were lucky enough to find Karen on our own for our destination wedding at a coffee farm just outside of Kona. It’s hard to ignore someone with a 5 star rating, isn’t it?

Beginning with our correspondences, we were blown away with the promptness in her email replies, and knew right away that Karen was the choice for us. Her questionnaire was thorough and actually enjoyable to fill out.

On the day of the wedding, from the moment she arrived, she and her assistant Hannah became part of the glue that held the day together. Their calm demeanors helped keep myself and the bride in a state of ease and bliss, thereby freeing us to fully embrace and enjoy the moment at hand.

Karen had many great ideas for poses, and she was great at gently directing us the right positions. She kept the shoot moving, completing an impressive number of different poses in the short first look period before our ceremony.

Oh, and then there’s the quality of the work itself. We were blown away with the quality of the sneak peak and are like two kids at Christmas waiting for the rest of our presents to come (I know the wait will be worth it!).

All in all, I can’t recommend Karen Loudon enough. If you’re someone without experience in front of a camera, she will put you at ease and help create the magical memories that your magical day truly deserves.

We are truly grateful and can’t recommend her enough.

Karen is an AMAZING photographer! I was a bit scattered before my wedding and she was extremely helpful and understanding. I often feel awkward when people photograph me and she had a very kind way of making me and my family/guests feel very comfortable. She is also very creative and really took the time to make sure she captured all of special moments. When I received my photos I instantly cried because she captured our special day PERFECTLY! I really couldn't ask for anything more and would HIGHLY recomend her!!!!!

We had a great experience with Karen. We had a very small, intimate ceremony and Karen instantly got our vibe. She was on time, very pleasant and easy to communicate with, and made us feel very comfortable through the whole process. We just got the samples of pics and they look amazing, she got some beautiful shots that we had no idea she even took. We were nervous booking someone online, but we couldn't be happier with our choice. Highly recommended.

Karen did a fantastic job with our wedding photos. I would suggest anyone going to the Big Island to get married, or even just for a visit with family contact Karen for photos. We will be contacting her again when we take our children next year so that we can capture our vacation memories. Karen offers an exceptional value for the services that she provides. Karen had never even met us before our wedding day and she captured our love just the way we wanted!!

We booked Karen Loudon for a 3 hour photography package for our wedding in May 2016 - Karen and her assistant Hannah made the photography session fun and enjoyable (and this is coming from someone who normally hates to have photos taken!), and they were very patient with the non-English speaking members of our family - Karen could even speak some French to help with direction. A link to some sneak peek photos arrived in less than a week, and exceeded our expectations. Karen's use of lighting for our sunset beach photography was stunning, and her eye for detail in setting up the shots made for some great photos. Karen was prompt with communicating throughout the planning process, and was laid back yet very professional. We highly recommend her services.

When my fiancé and I decided not to have a destination wedding in Hawaii, our next best thing was to have our engagement photos taken in Hawaii. After extensive research, Karen was the best fit for us. Her style and eye for details in her photography says it all. We booked our date with her months out and kept in touch through e-mail. On the day of our session, I was afraid to be in front of the camera, but Karen was very laid back and made our photo shoot super fun and comfortable. She suggested the perfect location after telling her what we wanted our surroundings to be captured in our images. As promised, we received our beautiful sneak peek photos the day after our shoot and we are very pleased with them. Karen Loudon is highly recommended if you want beautiful pictures!!!

Fairytale Wedding!

Look no further you found your photographer!! Karen was so professional flexible creative and a joy to work with! She was quick to respond to all of my calls and emails planning our destination wedding. She worked with and listened to my ideas and vision with the end result being absolutely incredible pictures! She captured all of the emotion and love so all of our friends and family will feel like they were with us that day! Couldn't be more thankful we found her and she was able to document the most important day of our lives in such a beautiful intimate personal way!
