Kara Abbey Photography is truly exceptional in the wedding photography industry. From our initial consultation to the final images, Kara’s professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail were evident every step of the way. She brings a unique blend of warmth, enthusiasm, and expertise to her work, making the entire experience enjoyable and seamless. For our engagement session, Kara helped us bring our vision to life at a local farm that holds special meaning for us. The resulting photos, taken amidst vibrant flower fields, were stunning and captured the essence of our relationship perfectly.
On our wedding day, Kara and her husband impressed our families and guests with their professionalism, yet approachable personalities. We LOVED Kara!!!!
I had the pleasure of hiring Kara Abbey as our photographer for our wedding July, 2023. I cannot recommend Kara enough. She captured every single detail of our wedding and reception. I loved it how she was with the me for the entire day. Kara had a warm and friendly demeanor that made everything run smoothly. All Around Perfect Wedding Photographer!
I learned of Kara through a family member (I was a bridesmaid in the wedding) who had also used her as a wedding photographer. I just remember her being so sweet and helpful the day of, and when I saw my cousin’s pictures they were BEAUTIFUL! I was elated to find out that Kara was available for our big day when the time to discuss wedding vendors when our wedding came around!
Throughout the whole process Kara was beyond kind and helpful. She was extremely thorough, timely, and professional in the planning stages leading up to our wedding in order to ensure that Michael and I got everything we wanted out of our wedding photos and the process on the day of the wedding went off without a hitch.
We requested all of our photos via a digital album once they were done and it was so nice to have them all on hand to show relatives and friends, and look through and relive the magical night asap! Kara did a wonderful job capturing every aspect of our wedding from getting ready, to our first look, ceremony, reception, etc. We could not have asked for a better photographer for our special day! -

If you are in the market for a wedding photographer, let me implore you to stop here. Kara was an absolute joy to work with, even from the very beginning. She corresponds with you long before the big day, so you never feel in the dark. She has always responded promptly to any emails I have sent, and has been so kind to us even after her technical work is done. And that's not even mentioning the gorgeous photography! This girl is definitely skilled in her craft. If you're looking for a dependable, caring, and professional photographer, Kara is all of that and so much more. -

Do you ever meet someone and go "Yep, this person is going to be my friend." That is exactly how I felt when I contacted Kara about doing engagement photos for me and my now husband Micky. I met Kara online in the coaster community and it was a match made in amusement park heaven. When we had our initial call, I knew I was in good hands! We chatted for way longer than we planned to and I couldn't wait to have her be part of such an important moment of my life. Both engagement and wedding sessions were INCREDIBLE! Kara is organized, resourceful, understanding, and every other positive adjective you could think of. When I told her how Micky and I met at the library and that is the theme for our wedding she made sure every literary aspect was shown. I told her all the important thing to photograph (ceremony blessings, Jewish customs, cookie table, families dancing, decor etc..) and she did! I could not recommend her enough. You are missing out in life if you haven't had a chance to interact with such an incredible person! I could write a whole book about how amazing she is, but I will stop here since I wrote basically a chapter. If you are looking for someone to be your friend during one of the most exciting yet stressful moments of your life then contact Kara! -

Fun, professional and positive
My fiancé and I recently had our engagement photo session with Kara. She was adventurous enough to meet us at sunrise to get beautiful Mt Washington photos in approximately 20 degree weather. She had such great location ideas and we are so grateful we found someone who clearly enjoys their job and meeting with clients. We loved how the photos came out and cannot wait to have her photograph our wedding. -

Wedding Day
Kara is a wonderful photographer to work with - you will not regret hiring her. She will go over and beyond for you to capture the most beautiful photos of your day. She was so energetic, engaging, and a lot of fun to work with! My husband and I are not the most comfortable in front of a camera but Kara made it so easy and by the end of it we were naturals! We have gotten so many compliments from our families about how beautiful our wedding pictures turned out. Thank you Kara for capturing our day we love our wedding pictures! -

Couldn't ask for a better photographer!
Kara was absolutely amazing to work with! During my planning, she helped so much and made everything as easy as possible. On my wedding day, she made everyone feel so comfortable and we had a great time. So far I have only gotten some sneak peak photos, but I am completely blown away with what I have seen so far and can't wait to see the rest! I couldn't have asked for a better photographer! -

7 Years Later
Kara shot our engagement and wedding 7 years ago and we have been lucky enough to have her capture our growing family in the years since. Our wedding party and guests loved her and thought she was a friend of ours because of how bubbly and outgoing she was! Our family loved our wedding photos so much that my sister also hired Kara for their wedding. Meeting with Kara for our photos each year really is like catching up with an old friend who just happens to take the most amazing photos. She always gets the best shots… adults, dogs, wild toddlers, they always come out PERFECT! She’s super organized, always keeps in touch regarding your photo session, sets expectations on when you’ll receive your photos, and nails the final product every. single. time. I seriously cannot recommend Kara enough! If you’re reading this review, this is your sign to go book her! You will not be disappointed. -

Kara Abbey deserves way more than 5 stars. From the first email with her, I immediately felt so comfortable with her. Her personality is so warm and inviting, you can't help but be drawn to her and her positive energy. When our big day arrived, Kara was such a pro. She captured the absolute beauty of our wedding day. She is so passionate and has such a genuine love for weddings. She worked so well with getting our 3 children to cooperate and smile for the photos. She honestly made us feel like the most special bride and groom on the planet. I was like a kid on Christmas morning when our photos from the wedding arrived. Each one was just as stunning as the next. She did a phenomenal job grabbing all the important memories of our day on film. I will gladly recommend Kara Abbey to anyone looking for someone who is more than just a person with a camera... I wish I could give a rating over 5 stars. Kara was by far the best decision we made during wedding planning. After our wedding was postponed in 2020 due to covid Kara had no issue moving our deposit to our new 2021 date. Leading up to our April 2021 wedding there was still so much uncertainty on what our wedding would be like and Kara was so flexible. She was wonderful to with discussing day of details and she even provided a wedding day timeline (which was a huge help to me). Day of she arrived early ready to go and got some amazing detail and getting ready shots, which I thought I didn’t even want! – I was so wrong. She helped plan out our first look, and it was absolutely perfect, and she got some adorable shots including our pup. To top everything off she set up a rainy-night shot which ended up being one of our favorite photos for the entire day. My entire family and wedding party couldn’t stop raving about how nice and personable Kara was. And photos that I have shared out get so many complaints. Kara is the best there is, you will not regret hiring her! -

There’s not enough adjectives to say how amazing Kara is! She is so easy to work with. Leading up to the wedding she is quick to respond to emails and get things organized. During the wedding every single person that worked with her had nothing but nice things to say. She hypes you up the whole time. She makes you and your guests feel so special! The pictures came out gorgeous. There’s not a single bad thing to say about her. If you want professional but also want a human being, whose going to listen and act like a best friend, Kara is your girl. You won’t be disappointed. -

Where could I possibly even start with Kara! She shot our August 22, 2020 wedding at The Gathering Place at Darlington Lake, and we could not have been happier with our choice of picking her as our photographer!! From the very beginning, she was so easy and amazing to work with. Right up until our wedding day, she made sure to follow up with us frequently to see if we needed anything, was always offering us advice, made sure to have our wedding day planned out perfectly with a timeline she helped us put together and everything! Her quality of work is AMAZING! We could not be happier with how our wedding (and engagement) photos turned out! Oh, and not to mention her personality! Our friends and family raved about how fun, outgoing, and spunky she was, and how comfortable she made us all feel in front of the camera! She surly has a way of working her magic! My husband and I truly 10/10 recommend her to anyone that's getting married! You will NOT be disappointed! -

I don’t even know where to start! Our wedding day was not what we planned, we had to change our venue, caterer, and replan the whole thing in 6 weeks so mildly stressful. However, the one thing we didn’t have to stress about was Kara! She was so great to work with and was so willing to deal with whatever changes we threw at her. Our day truly ended up being truly amazing and Kara captured every moment perfectly! I had previously been in 2 weddings that Kara did so I knew our photos would be amazing but they were even better than anticipated. We love all of our photos and could not be happier with how everything turned out! Kara is simply amazing, kind, organized, professional, and just great to work with. She’ll be your biggest cheerleader on your day and make you feel like a million bucks! Thank you Kara once again you did not disappoint! ❤️ -

Kara photographed my wedding in June 2020. She did a phenomenal job and we are so happy that she was able to photograph our wedding. Needless to say, the Pandemic brought up some concerns in the weeks and months leading up to the wedding. Kara was always ahead of the game and sent out reassuring emails regarding the ever changing circumstances. She put our minds at ease and also offered helpful suggestions for brides who were postponing or going through with a smaller wedding during this unprecedented time.
Kara met with my husband and I at a Starbucks and she shared her portfolio with us and certainly took in-depth notes. Shortly after the wedding she published a blog post that included our love story and some highlight photos from our wedding day. It was a wonderful touch!
The day of our wedding she was so prompt, that I was worried that I was behind schedule because I hadn't even started to apply my makeup yet. I'm so glad that she was able to take the time to photograph my dress, bouquet, jewlery, and invitation as those photos are beautiful! Kara also provides you with a wedding day schedule, which is very helpful. After the ceremony, we took photos at Braddock trails and I'm so thankful that Kara was willing to trek through the woods to capture these shots. The reception photos are spectacular as well and they truly show how my husband, myself, and our guests felt on that special day. All of the the photos she took turned out even better than what I could have imagined. We will cherish these photos and the blog post for a lifetime to come.
I have already decided on making a gallery wall in our apartment to dedicate to wedding photos, because it's too difficult to narrow it down to just a couple of wedding photos to frame.
I should also add that Kara's turnaround time was unheard of. She had a few photos up on Facebook the night of our wedding, which I was so eager to check out after leaving the reception! Then just a few days later she had our blog post written, and we were on our honeymoon when we received the email with all of our photos! Amazing! We (as in myself, my husband, our families, and even all of our Facebook friends) highly recommend Kara! -

Amazing photographer!!
Kara Abbey did our engagement photos as well as our wedding, and it was the best decision we’ve ever made! She remembered small little details about us as a couple and incorporated it into our entire story. She truly cares about couples and invests in their story, making everything so much more special. From the very beginning, Kara has been responsive to any crazy planning questions I have and actually cared and wanted this to be an experience I would remember. Her questions she asked me back, she wanted to get to know my fiancé and I. The day of the wedding, and I did warn Kara - I was going to be nervous. Her positivity, planning and overall expertise she gave us, helped the day go so much more smoothly. The amount of compliments I received from my wedding party and guests was amazing. Kara gave us a preview during our wedding OF OUR WEDDING and I was blown away. All of my pictures came before promised and I am honestly blown away. Kara, thank you so much for capturing the absolute best day. Joe and I appreciate it everything more than i could put into words. Hands down my favorite vendor to have worked with. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! -

Phoebe Sent on 06/17/2018No review in the world could do Kara justice!! She was hands down the best photographer, and now friend, that we could ask for. We are from Texas, but got married in Maryland, which proved to be a challenge when planning. However with Kara, that was not an issue. Between emails, Skype calls, and deliveries in the mail, it always felt like Kara was right there, and ready to help us. From the moment we met, to the end of our wedding night, we felt supported.
As for the photos, they are wonderful. She hit everything on our list, and more; all with amazing quality. One of Kara's biggest gifts is her ability to make people feel comfortable and relaxed during the photos, and it clearly shows in our gallery. The photos don't look forced, they look natural and organic -- even the giant family portraits. We had all of our photos back within two weeks, and have been swooning over them ever since!
It was the best day of our lives, and now we get to hold onto those memories forever. Thank you, Kara.

Jean Sent on 08/10/2015Kara was fantastic! Right from the beginning, Kara was very responsive to my messages and eager to work with us. As an out of town bride, all of our communication was via email and phone. We didn't meet until 2 weeks before our big day and Kara was willing to drive up from PA to meet, see our venues, and finalize plans. Even with the threat of bad weather (which it ended up raining all day), Kara helped us find alternate photography locations that were covered outside so we still get those wide lens shots.
Since we were out of town, we could not arrange an engagement session with Kara, but she was willing to work with us and adjust the packages she provides so that we still got everything we wanted. Having a second shooter was very important to us. Kara has her sister, Ellen, join her and they work very well together and compliment each other's style. They arrived before our scheduled time and stayed a little after as well. Kara provides great service for a range of price points that I couldn't find from any other photographer in the area.
Kara is very energetic and loves what she does. You can feel her genuine happiness through her emails. She asked us what kind of shots we wanted and she followed through (and them some!). They took beautiful shots of the little details (rings, flowers, candles). They got shots of family and friends chatting and dancing, both formal and informal. They immersed themselves in the crowd so the pictures look like you were right there with them. I love her style (check out her website!).
Kara was very quick to get the pictures back to us. She even posted some to Facebook that afternoon! During the reception, she had a laptop scrolling through the pictures she had taken thus far so our guests could see them. She updated her blog the following week with more sneak peeks and sweet words. We had access to the entire collection both digitally and via a USB drive within a month.
You will not be disappointed by hiring Kara.
