Above and beyond
Roberta made our special day even more special. The words she spoke were so heartfelt, and it truly felt as if she had known us forever. She was not just going through the motions — she was genuine, compassionate, and fully present in every moment. You could truly feel how much she cared, and that made our ceremony incredibly meaningful. We are so grateful to have had her be part of such an important day in our lives. -

Highly Recommend Justified Love - Roberta
Roberta was incredible. She worked closely with us to personalize our ceremony and was so kind and supportive throughout the process. She was confident and spoke beautifully. Many people remarked afterwards how strong and moving the ceremony was. We actually had a bridesmaid faint during but Roberta was so professional - once she helped her get situated she smoothly continued the ceremony and was not even fazed. We highly recommend her and her services! -

A Heartfelt, Seamless Ceremony with Roberta from Lydon Chapel
We feel so incredibly grateful to have had Roberta from Lydon Chapel as our Justice of the Peace for our micro-wedding at our family home in Marblehead this August. From our first call, Roberta’s warmth and professionalism put us instantly at ease. She helped us design a ceremony that was completely our own...outlining our vows, suggesting meaningful readings, building a clear timeline, and answering every question we had along the way. Her experience and gentle guidance made what could have been overwhelming feel simple and joyful.
On our wedding day, Roberta created a ceremony that felt like an extension of our hearts. She told the story of how we met and why we fell in love with such beauty and authenticity. She even found a heartfelt way to honor those who could not be with us, like my father, which meant more to us than we can ever express.
Because of her, our ceremony flowed seamlessly and felt both intimate and effortless... it truly felt like a dream. She also handled the finalization of our marriage certificate, taking care of the small details so we could stay present in the moment.
Roberta is kind, thoughtful, lighthearted, and clearly passionate about bringing people together. I was so nervous picking an officiant and spent days reading through reviews before reaching out to Roberta, and she was as amazing as all of her reviews said. Roberta made planning our ceremony so easy, and she performed it perfectly. She is an absolute professional and was a pleasure to work with! She told us everything we needed to know well in advance of the wedding, listened to our preferences, and created a ceremony that fit us perfectly. She was able to beautifully tell our story as a couple and I could tell she was genuinely happy to have been a part of our wedding day. -

We hired Roberta to officiate our wedding, and we could not be more pleased with how everything went! Seriously, Roberta was so professional and helpful leading up to the big day. And then, we were honestly blown away by how smooth the actual ceremony went and how genuine it all felt. We even included a handfasting moment, and she handled it perfectly. We got so many compliments from guests, and many people assumed Roberta was a close friend by how authentic and personal the ceremony was. Highly recommend! -

The sweetest ceremony

Roberta at Justified Love was absolutely amazing, I can't recommend her enough! From the start, she was so responsive and easy to communicate with. I had originally booked Roberta for my November 2020 wedding, when that got rescheduled due to COVID, Roberta was so flexible and understanding. She happened to be available for our new date of December 2021 and we were thrilled.
She worked with us to personalize the ceremony so that it truly felt like "us". We communicated via email mostly and did have a phone call as we got closer to the date so that she could learn more about us. That was all it took for her to deliver an absolutely amazing ceremony.
A number of family members and friends came up to us to compliment the ceremony and ask how we knew Roberta. They thought she was a friend or someone we knew in advance of the day, and couldn't believe we had only spoken to her in person once before our wedding.
Roberta truly listens and gets to know you and allows you to incorporate your personalities as a couple into the day. We couldn't have asked for more and are so happy with our decision to work with Roberta. -

My husband and I selected Roberta to be the JP for our wedding and she was awesome! She listened to everything we asked for and was so easy work with. She was warm and kind while still being professional and getting everything done exactly as we asked for it. We got a lot of compliments on how beautiful our ceremony was. She totally understood we wanted a love based ceremony and did not want a religious ceremony, and she performed a beautiful Celtic handfasting reading for us as well during the ceremony. We would highly recommend you choose Roberta for your wedding -

Roberta is and was fantastic! I ended up finding her on the wedding wire. Early on the process of picking vendors I was so nervous about did I make the right choice will they deliver what I’m looking for. Well brides I am so pleased that I did hire Roberta. She is very professional and tailored our ceremony exactly how we wanted it. Very prompt with responding and answering questions that I thought seemed silly or stuff that I asked millions times but for got the answer she was there. There is something about her presence that just puts you at ease and feels like you’ve know her for years. Roberta showed up well dress and early the day of the wedding. So happy she was there to perform our ceremony. -

We hired Roberta off a recommendation from a friend. Roberta was easy to work with and helped us with choosing readings. Both us and our guests were impressed by how well Roberta controlled the room. My now husband was so nervous he kept whispering during the ceremony. Roberta was a total pro and rolled with it. -
Valentina Sent on 08/20/2018My wedding was July 21, 2018 and the first thing that came to my mind the morning after was, "I can't believe how perfect our ceremony was." We owe that feeling to Roberta. Roberta was our officiant and from start to finish she took in everything about us, every detail we asked for (and asked not to have) and made it 100% ours. My husband and I had no idea what actually went into preparing for a wedding ceremony and Roberta met with us a few weeks prior to the wedding and laid it all out for us in black and white. She gave us easy steps for choosing the pieces we needed, gave us samples and suggestions. She checked in with me a few days before the wedding and again before I walked down the isle. She literally made the entire process as easy as cake.... (or dare I say as easy as....wedding cake?) All joking aside, I'm so grateful to have met and had Roberta be my wedding's officiant.

Jason Sent on 10/17/2017Roberta officiated our wedding last weekend on board the Odyssey in Rowe's Wharf, Boston. She was very friendly and professional. Communication by email was good, and our pre-wedding meeting in Quincy was relaxed. Roberta was very helpful in explaining the order of ceremony and helped us choose our vows, readings and ceremony at the end. On the day, Roberta was very reassuring and conducted the ceremony perfectly. Would strongly recommend to others! Thanks Roberta!

Dorian Sent on 10/17/2017In search of a justice of the peace to perform a simple ceremony with short notice, I found Roberta Black and the Lydon Chapel. From my first inquiries, Roberta was professional and informative. She explained the array of marriage services she offers at the Chapel and elsewhere. The prices were very reasonable, and she was willing to schedule a ceremony with only 24 hours notice required. Our Saturday afternoon ceremony at the Chapel was seamless and beautiful because of Roberta’s kind, accomadating manner. Roberta’s experience, compassion, and professionalism alone-never mind the sunny, beautiful Chapel-far superseded my expectations for a low cost ceremony with such little planning. Roberta is amazing and I am forever grateful that we chose her as our officiant.

We are so glad we went with Roberta as our officiant. She really got to know us as a couple and made us feel prepared for our wedding with no concerns. Many of our wedding guests said that it was the best ceremony that they had seen -- the perfect length, well-personalized, and touching. Highly recommend Roberta to any couple looking for an officiant!
