BEAUTIFUL work & yummy food
I'm so glad we came across this catering company and that they were willing to travel to our venue! Despite being a bit of a drive away and only coming to our venue a handful of times.. this catering company knocked everything out of the park. They were great at communicating and following our requests! They even put some of our apps to the side so my fiancé and I could still enjoy when we finished pictures. Our friends and family were so impressed with their beautiful set up and how delicious the food was! They were even able to accommodate for our friends and family who were vegetarian and gluten free. I HIGHLY recommend Just Desserts (:

Perfect Cake for our wedding day!
Just Desserts OBX did the cake for our wedding and it was a hit! It was a delicious two tier cake with fresh fruit and chocolate eclair! Loved it! It looked great with our Lego topper!

Amazing cakes....
Melinda is amazing! She took the time to meet with us when we came into town as our wedding was a destination wedding. She stayed in contact with me from day one of requesting to meet. She really listened to what we wanted and the exquisite detail and the best flavors, moist and every single person at our wedding commented how Devine both cakes were. Melinda helped me surprise my husband with a Pirate Flag grooms cake...actually sent her a picture of the flag he had and she nailed it!!! Above and Beyond in every way! We have still kept in touch.. her husband and her are part of our family!! We love and adore her!

The MOST delicious cakes
Okay, I can’t even explain…. There are literally no words that will do justice to the deliciousness of these cakes! We ended up choosing key lime for our bottom tier and eclair for our top tier.
The key lime has delicate flavor that gives just enough taste so you know it’s key lime, but doesn’t overwhelm your pallet with sour. The eclair was also delicate but so delicious you didn’t want to stop eating it. I literally had a piece of each!! The decorations were exactly what I wanted.
Melinda was absolutely a joy to work with. She was accommodating with us since we came from out of town, was able to provide a tasting even though our schedules never connected, and was joyful while communicating. You need these cakes in your life!

Stunning Cakes!
Melinda is the best -- she is so talented in designing beautiful cakes! I'm a tough critic in this department, as I have a "side hussle" bakery back home, and Melinda is hands down 5 stars! Our "Shells of Elegance" cake was exactly what we had envisioned. I will say our guests enjoyed the chocolate macadamia nut flavor more than the rum cake as a tip to anyone deciding on flavors. Chocolate is probably a better selection to go with if you are debating between the two. Melinda worked with us on postponing our Sanderling wedding twice due to covid, and in addition, she made a small wedding cake for our "real" wedding which only had 3 guests present due to covid. Everything was as expected, she's fun to work with and has an outgoing personality. She's very quick at responding to emails and phone calls. If you're looking for a stunning cake, look no more and hire Melinda at Just Desserts!

Best Wedding Cake Evah!
As a Wedding Planner I’ve had the privilege of tasting many wedding cakes throughout my career. One might think it would be difficult to choose a favorite, however, this is not the case! Not only beautiful but delicious
What an amazing cake! I contacted Melinda about a wedding cake for a small ceremony in the Outer Banks. We emailed back and forth about the design, flavor, even about what cake stand to get so the cake was well supported! Three days before picking it up O told her my cake topper was as heavy as a water bottle, she got me the support I needed without any problems. She was helpful and friendly and if I come back next year, I will get another cake from her for my anniversary!

More than perfect!
Now I know why everyone from OBX recommended Melinda Gregory to do our wedding cake! "I have never a cake this good in my life" is what my 84 y/o Grammy said! She is a hard one to win over! When we had to move our venue from OBX to Wilmington due to COVID, Melinda was ready to go no questions asked! Our wedding cake was absolutely phenomenal! We had a large four tiered cake and only half of the bottom tier was left! Besides being delicious, it was even more beautiful and sparkly in person! It was more than perfect! Melinda, I can't thank you enough!

Try the chocolate with Peanut butter mouse. Wow! My husbands groom cake was a golf theme. So yummy. Our wedding cake was Key Lime. It is also going to be our anniversary cake.
We made friends for life with Melinda and Larry. They were great with giving us a tasting plate when we got to town to be sure we liked everything. We were a destination wedding and had never even been to OBX. The cake was so stunning. It was exactly what I wanted. I love sparkles. It had the sparkles, flowers and starfish I wanted. I can not say enough about how everyone made us feel like we made the right choices.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors, but the eclair is the best! We chose a 2 tier cake, one layer with chocolate buttercream, and one layer of eclair. She did a beautiful job conceptualizing a cake design based on or colors and a few Pinterest pictures of cakes I liked. One of our guests said it was the best cake she ever had, others asked for the contact information for the baker. Strongly recommend!

I loved working with Malinda Gregory of Just Desserts! My cake was AMAZING! I had a really small wedding and did not want a tiered cake just the base. We met Melinda at the OBX wedding expo, she had samples of her cake to try and we immediately fell in love, her cake was so good we signed a contract that day! Melinda with Just Desserts not only made us a delicious, gorgeous wedding cake but was so kind and accommodating to me and my family. We came down to the OBX to meet with vendors several months prior to the wedding. Miranda welcomed us into her home office and served us sample after sample of cake. She was so down to earth and friendly - my parents LOVED her! We decided on the vanilla cake with fresh berries, and a simple ombre design. I am not a huge fan of wedding cake overall, but hers were delicious. MULTIPLE guests told me during the reception and weeks later after the wedding that it was the best wedding cake they ever had. The fresh berries really were unique and so light - perfect for a beach wedding! I can't recommend Melinda and her beautiful cakes enough!

I truly cannot say enough great things about Melinda and Just Desserts!! I reached out in a bit of a panic, as (to make a long story short) we originally wanted cupcakes for our wedding, but just couldn’t find a vendor we were comfortable with. So about 3 weeks before the wedding – I connected with Melinda. She was like a true godsend. She was SO easy to work with – she eased any concerns I ever had – and immediately confirmed availability and assisted me with all the specifics. She is witty , kind, cool, calm, collected – a brides dream come true!!! Not to mention, she makes a PHENOMINAL cake!! I remember during our initial correspondence she told me my guests would remember two things – the bride & the cake. Well to be honest, I think people only remember the CAKE (it totally stole my thunder and I am OK with that – because it was that good). The flavor, the frosting, the consistency – everything was perfect. And everyone was raving about it (and still is to this day). We had a 3-tiered cake and went with (2) layers of chocolate mousse and (1) layer of fresh strawberries & Italian buttercream!! YUM!!! We couldn’t have been happier with our overall experience with Melinda and Just Desserts. We vacation in OBX and will definitely be utilizing Just Desserts again in the future. I highly recommend Just Desserts – you will not be disappointed! P.S – if you are even considering cupcakes – DON’T – Melinda, Just Desserts and CAKE are all you need for your special day!!

Everyone RAVED AND RAVED about our wedding cake, and it was well deserved! Let's put it this way, we had 20 adult guests and 3 kids, and a cake designed to serve 40 I think, and there was very little left! Everyone had more than one serving....except me. Dang shapewear! Anyway, I would definitely plan to get my cake from Melinda for other events if I am in the Outer Banks. I wish I could have cake from her every day! She was so sweet too. She gave my husband extra carrot cake to take because she knew he loved it. And when our anniversary tier went missing at the venue, she gave us another. The cake was also gorgeous...no reservations in recommending her. No need to go anywhere else!

I planned my Outer Banks wedding at The Mark Twain House (5/25/18) from my home in Connecticut. Melinda came highly recommended by our caterer so I figured I would look into her. I knew I didn't want anything extravagant, but I am a cake lover and wanted something that I would remember. Melinda was so responsive and helpful with my cake order. My wedding planner was able to pick up our cake the day before the wedding and it was all ready for her to take. I literally could not believe how delicious this cake was. After the first bite I turned and looked at the caterer who happened to be standing there and all i could say was "omg this is amazing". All of our guests commented on how good the cake was, most saying "that was the best cake I have ever had". I can't thank Melinda enough for this cake and we hope to be back to the Outer Banks soon and will 100% order another cake!

Just Desserts was an amazing cake designer! I was the wedding coordinator for Katie & Mark's wedding and I picked up the cake the night before the wedding. This team was incredible. I easily coordinated a time for pick up. They were incredibly responsive and helpful with directions. I arrived a bit early and they welcomed me into their cute space and made sure I had everything I needed. Ok now the cake, that was amazing!!! Everyone raved about it and the bride was so happy. Which made me very happy. As a vendor, I would highly recommend Just Desserts to anyone getting married in the Outer Banks.

I had a destination wedding in Nags Head in Sept. 2017. My husband and I are from Northern Va. We started planning 2 years in advance and took our family to the cake tasting. When we arrived we had so many different options. When I say no cake that she made was bad I truly mean it. We had trouble decided which cake to choose from. She had everything to plain generic wedding cake to chocolate eclair cake. Even the generic wedding cake was not so generic. We ended up choosing the chocolate eclair cake. I have never in my life tasted a wedding cake so good. She matched the exact design that we wanted and the taste was amazing. Cakes by Just Desserts are to die for. Best cake I have ever had. We can't wait to dig into our anniversary cake topper.

Holy cow! We had our wedding the past summer in Corolla, NC and had the best cake imaginable. We were going for a tropical, clean look for our wedding so we wanted a very simple cake. We chose a single 'top tier' cake with white frosting and had our florist add some flowers to the top. After going to a tasting, we decided on the key lime cake and I could not be happier with our decision. I'm not a huge sweets person and I devoured it. I highly recommend Just Desserts for creating not only a gorgeous cake for your wedding, but a DELICIOUS ONE! THANK YOU!!!!

WOW!!! It looked fabulous and tasted even better. If I could give Melinda 6 stars we would...it was the best cake we have ever had...and that's the truth. We got the traditional vanilla and chocolate éclair....our group of 65 people ate almost the entire 3 tier cake (it was that good!) Presentation was outstanding as we had a beach theme and the cake was coordinated perfectly to our wedding colors. We met Melinda from Just Desserts at the OBXWA Expo in January & ordered our cake on the spot. We were amazed at how delicious the cake samples were, and she had so many beautiful designs from past events on display! We communicated with her a handful of times prior to our wedding, and she was just so very nice, kind, patient and charming! The cake was BEAUTIFUL and AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS; we were quite pleased that there was some leftover for us to eat on the days following our event! Melinda is my favorite vendor to work with. She gave not only the bride samples ,my daughter but also some for me and her dad. She also even delivered the grooms cake under special circumstances. The key lime cake which was the grooms flavor got great reviews from all guest. The wedding cake was delivered and set up promptly and beautiful. My guest not only loved the looks of the cake but truly loved the flavor. Melinda is a real treasure.

This cake was the HIT of my wedding! Mine and my husband's families are BIG cake people, between the both of our families, we have seriously tried it all. EVERY single person at the wedding made a point to tell myself or my husband that it was the BEST cake they've ever had!!!! I ordered the cake for 150 people, but my guest count only ended up being 100- the entire cake still went! Every last piece, gone! We got key lime and traditional with fresh fruit filling. WOW! I mean I just can't say enough about how good this cake was. Just amazing!!! It looked beautiful too!!! She has amazing attention to detail, it was perfect!! My guests are STILL talking about the cake today! And on to Melinda, she is an AMAZING person!!! She is so friendly, and super easy to work with. I went to Melinda completely unsure of what I wanted and she was so patient with me and talked over all of the options. I changed my mind 100 times during our meeting and she happily made the changes. She always answered my emails in a timely manner and she is just so pleasant!!! I am SO happy that I found Melinda!!!! Thank you Melinda for making my wedding experience wonderful!!!

"Best wedding cake, ever!" That is what we heard all night and into the next day! After trying a few of Melinda's desserts, our daughter and son-in-law knew exactly what they wanted; the Eclair cake. Not only was it delicious, but Melinda worked with our daughter's vision and created a beautiful, elegant cake. Knowing that Melinda's business is extremely popular, we asked our wedding planner, Brenda Zeigler, to act on our behalf to get the ball rolling and then, when the time was right, Melinda worked with our daughter on the details. If you want a cake that is thoroughly enjoyed, the Eclair cake is it!

The cake that Melinda made for our wedding was the most delicious cake I have ever had in my life!! She made it look exactly like the picture I sent. So many of our guests commented on how it was the best cake they've ever had! It is so taunting having the anniversary layer just sitting in our freezer. My husband and I have debated just going ahead and eating it so many times in the short time we've been married because it is just that good.

This was not just the best wedding cake we have eve eaten, it was hands down the best cake we have ever eaten. Melinda is amazingly talented and it shows in the beautiful cakes she creates. Unlike some other vendors, she creates cakes that are both stunning to look at and to eat. We were so taken with her flavors that we couldn't pick just one for our wedding cake, and ended up picking two flavors! Both the berry and the eclair flavors were unbelievable. If we didn't live out of state all of our cakes would be made by Melinda. Out of this world delicious, you will not have any regrets!

After taste testing a couple of cakes, it was very clear that Melinda was the best choice for our wedding cake. She was so wonderful to work with for our 9/13/2016 wedding and made sure we got exactly what we envisioned for our cake. She truly is a master of her craft and we have received so many compliments on how beautiful the cake was. Melinda's cakes are literally THE BEST CAKES I'VE EVER TASTED (and that's saying something b/c I have a sweet tooth)!! She did such a wonderful job for my husband and I and was very responsive to emails and phone calls. She really wanted us to have a great experience and it was obvious in the love, care, and creativity she put into our cake. I HIGHLY recommend the marble cake with chocolate buttercream frosting inside. It was a crowd favorite!! I can't wait until our one year anniversary so we can finally eat our top tier! Our wedding cake not only looked amazing but it tasted delicious! Melinda is very easy to work with, extremely accommodating, and talented beyond belief! Many people told me it was the best wedding cake they've ever eaten and I have to agree. Many times, I have heard couples say that they had a lot of left over cake and ended up throwing it away. While we did have some extra, as we had a dessert bar too, every last piece got eaten in the day or two after the wedding. I can not recommend Melinda enough. In fact, I can't wait to return to the Outer Banks next year and order an anniversary cake from her.

Melinda is an amazing designer, our cake was not only beautiful but delicious. I read her other reviews, we decided on our wedding theme as such and then I contacted her. We never questioned a thing, all reviews and word of mouth just lets you know that you will not be disappointed and we are not. Our guests are still raving about "our cake" and even inquired if she would ship orders?! So yes, that good. Melinda is very caring and considerate, not just a vendor, but a professional to her trade that also cares about what you are trying to purchase as well as to convey any assistance she is able along the journey. Once we discussed my other aspects of the wedding itself to the reception, she assured me I was fine, matter of fact in great hands and she was so very right! We were totally pleased, so very thankful to all our vendors and most now feel like family friends! I highly recommend Just Desserts, OBX for any of your cake needs.

Melinda by Just Desserts is not just an amazing professional but also a very good person with a huge heart!! Due to some problems I had to postpone my wedding for 3 years and she went throughout the whole process with me! The day of my wedding I had a huge problem with one of my vendors and she took time out of her busy schedule to talk with me when I had nobody to speak with. She calmed me down and offered me help when I needed the most and I will never forget that!! She also noticed that I had forgotten the toast glasses and offered me hers!!! I'm still stunned thinking "who does that?" That was a $500 dollar glasses and not just for the money value but for the sentimental value that was priceless!! I loved the champagne glasses (they were so pretty and sophisticated) and it fit perfectly with the most beautiful wedding cake I ever seen!!
It was not just beautiful but delicious and all my guest were amazed by the flavors..we were 50 and we ate it all lol!!! I don't know if I will be loyal to wait 1year for the boxed cake!!
Again, thank you thank you thank you Melinda..I will tell everyone about you not just as a business but as a beautiful and wonderful person!!

We had quite the experience as we tried another place that was filthy- and was recommended to Just Desserts which was a godsend! Melinda was awesome! Our cake was absolutely beautiful but even better the best cake that I have ever had. All of our guests were asking about it afterwards and wanted to know if we had much left over. In hindsight, we could have doubled the size because it was such a hit!
We got the Chocolate Eclair Cake- and it is simply to die for! The buttercream icing was so good- just talking about it makes me want some! I would definitely recommend Melinda and will be looking forward to purchasing more from her in the future!

Amazing amazing amazing cake! I taste tested a few other cakes at the beach and was very tempted to go with a much cheaper cake until I tasted the eclair cake at Just Desserts. This cake is the best cake I have ever had. At the wedding, every guest I talked to after the cake was served talked about how amazing the cake was. My husband and I had a specially made topper that we provided to Melinda ahead of time and she had no problem making sure it fit perfectly on top of the cake.
The day after the wedding I heard about 3 things everyone loved and one of them was always the cake. I definitely recommend Just Desserts for your wedding day.

My wife and I were married in the Outer Banks in October of 1999. Planning a wedding down there was not as convenient as it is now, but we are glad we chose Just Desserts.
Melinda made the best cake we’ve ever had in our lives, the guests at the wedding still talk about the cake. It was supposed to serve 90-100, we had 30 guests and had to hide the top tier or it would have disappeared.
We had the eclair cake on one layer with raspberry on another and we're ordering a small cake from her this year when we go back down in December to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the planning.

If you want the best, then there is ONLY Melinda. From the ease of looking for a cake to fit us, then to be able to choose a flavor(s). There was no stress, it was made so easy, she is the consumate professional. There is such an ease with her that all your worries are put aside, you know that what you pick out is going to be delivered, and set up beautifully, and on time. That is the business person of Melinda, now there is the creative person. Whatever you want, she can deliver. Her cakes are all made from scratch, so moist and filled with the most delightful fillings. I have attended 3 weddings where she made the cakes, so when it came time for my own wedding, there was no one else I would choose. With all the worries and details that may be forgotten, if you choose Melinda at Just Desserts there is no need to worry about the cake. She is amazing at creating a masterpiece to steal the show. It is unbelievable how no two cakes are the same and how she can with a few questions know exactly how to include the cake into the reception. She along with her husband, personally set the cake up and even prepares a sealed box with your 1st year anniversary cake. So many people said this cake was too beautiful to cut, but once cut, its taste exceeded it beauty. Our guest were raving this was the best cake they have ever eaten. She made the most amazing cake for our big day! We expressed we loved Tiramisu and ....she made that flavor happen in part of our cake! Any flavor you want or desire....I am confident Melinda will make it happen...and it will taste even better! Our guests are STILLL RAVING....STILL RAVING....about the cake. Melinda is a magician! We couldn't even speak when we tasted the eclair... the decision was easily made for the large layer. We chose the traditional white with raspberry filling for the 2nd layer and it was just as amazing. We were pleasantly surprised with the anniversary cake bonus all wrapped up for us. Melinda and our florist worked well together to match the flowers on the cake and it was gorgeous. It was a cake our family will talk about for quite a while!

FANTASTIC! Malinda was very easy to work with and the cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious. It was so heavy and the crème layers between the cakes was scrumptious! My daughter showed her a picture of the cake she wanted and Malinda copied it perfectly, down to every detail!

I have known Larry and Melinda with jJust Desserts for a few years and they are very kind, very professional, unbelievably hard working people! It was fun for me to see their brochures were the only ones at select vendors locations, because they make the most delicious and beautiful cakes on this beach! Melinda even handmade my flowers!!! Truly I have her a picture and then saw it come to life! And not a single one from that wedding and those who were lucky enough to get leftovers, didn't say "that's the best wedding cake I've ever had!"

Melinda Gregory's cakes are, bar none, the best cakes in the OBX. We had the pleasure of sampling many cakes at the OBX Wedding Association's 2014 Expo, but truly none compared to Ms. Gregory's! Not only was our cake beautiful, and fitting for our beach wedding, but it was also amazingly delicious. Our cake was made of eclair and key lime flavors, and our guests loved it.

Just Desserts is the ONLY wedding cake vendor on the Outer Banks. Melinda Gregory is one of the most talented bakers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Melinda took pictures and created the most beautiful cake I could have ever imagined... she delivered exactly what I had envisioned. Our cake was amazing. It was exactly what we wanted and Melinda did a great job of creating our cake. The Eclair and key lime cakes are delicious. She takes her time to answer questions and she provides a lot of options for tastings. The way she displayed the cake was creative and well executed.

My fiance and I were lucky enough to end up with two cakes from Melinda at Just Desserts! After cake tasting we were so torn on flavors that we ordered a grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner in the Chocolate Macadamia Nut and then our wedding cake was the Eclair. None of our guests and family could decide which they liked better either and we spent the rest of the week devouring the leftovers.
Easy to work with, delivered exactly what we asked for and the most delicious wedding cake I've ever eaten. I'd highly recommend!

Not only is Dorothy an amazing wedding cake designer, she is also so sweet and truly cares about her clients. Our guests devoured out 2-tiered eclair wedding cake. The cakes taste and design were absolutely perfect, and to die for. I wish we had more to keep as left overs! We will definitely be ordering more cakes from her when we travel down to our annual OBX vacation! Thank you Dorothy for helping make our day so special and memorable!

I was drawn to work with Melinda after seeing some of the beautiful cakes she had created. She worked with us to personalize a design she has made before. We tasted several of her cake flavors and all were amazing! What I love about Melinda's cake is not only are they a work of art, they are hands down, the best cakes I have ever tasted! We went with the eclair flavor which was loved by all of our guests. She also made seashell chocolates for our wedding favors which were absolutely beautiful and delicious. If you want an amazing cake, Just Desserts is the place!

I had herd from many people in the OBX that Melinda made the best cakes on island. That was an understatement. The cake was delicious and beautiful! It was covered in beach glass and driftwood and had white chocolate sea shells all over. Truly a one of a kind. Absolutely beautiful!
