Best Wedding Food Ever!

Our wedding was in 2018, and our guests are still talking about the food that was served by the JThomas team. A lot of our guests were from the New York area, so we wanted to serve some fun Southern food, and the topic of our wedding food still comes up at holidays. The passed bites were delicious, the buffet was wonderful, and my husband and I couldn't wait to dig in to our "to-go" boxes later that night. Thanks so much to Courtney and Josh for such a memorable meal!

A wedding ceremony can be perfect but if the food is just so-so, that is what will be remembered. So glad we chose JThomas Catering in Savannah, GA. The passed appetizers at the cocktail hour had all of our guest so excited to see what was for dinner. We had some guests that are food snobs and they were so complimentary of the food.
We decided to do stations instead of a plated dinner and we could not have been more pleased. Each plate at the stations was prepared as guests approached the station and the creativity used to plate the food was amazing and quick. Each plate was a work of art. My daughter has always loved funfetti cakes and so it was only fitting that her wedding cake be a funfetti wedding cake. Courtney and team made her dreams come true---a fabulous cake to see and eat!!! Everyone from JThomas was polite and professional and the evening was made even more perfect by the food that was prepared and served by these amazing people. Thank you JThomas Catering and Courtney for helping an anxious mother of the bride (long distance) have a wonderful experience!

Perfect choice for our wedding! They worked with us to customize a menu and the day of the wedding the servers were very polite. All the guests commented on how good the food was!

I got married in September and Ships of the Sea Maritime museum so this review is super late but I just wanted to say JThomas and his crew were AMAZING. My guests are still talking about the food at my wedding and how delicious it was. Everything was perfect. The only regret I have is I wish I would have eaten more but that was at no fault of theirs. The JThomas Catering team and food was absolutely amazing! Outstanding customer service and delicious food! I'm beyond happy with my experience with JThomas Catering and would highly recommend to anyone!! We just had our wedding the Railroad Museum and everyone is still raving about how good the food was! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! :)

JThomas Catering was amazing! They worked with us to come up with the perfect menu. The food was fantastic and we had rave reviews from all our guests. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits. We got our wedding cake through them also and it was delicious. I would recommended them to anyone!

J Thomas catering was phenomenal! We got so many compliments on the food! The shrimp and grits were to die for. They are very reasonable and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend them!

JThomas is the reason you get married in Savannah. No exaggerations, the food was outstanding and I can't praise their service enough.

We ultimately decided to upgrade from a buffet to the stations, and I'm so happy we did! Everything was wonderful. The plating was beautiful, and we had guests telling us they went up for thirds! The salmon and beef were a hit, and I highly recommend oysters for cocktail hour.
We even threw them a curve ball and asked them to make buffalo chicken bites with our favorite hot sauce from Brooklyn.

Honestly, if you're getting married in Savannah and need a caterer - book JThomas. You won't regret it.

We chose JThomas to cater our wedding based on many reviews we read and we were not disappointed! They offered a wide variety of dish options. We were looking for something a little more casual for our reception and we felt that they had the best offering around from the research that we did.

They were extremely friendly and easy to work with! They were very accommodating and worked with us to make sure that we got exactly what we wanted. They were also very reasonably priced, especially for the quality of food that we received! We got so many compliments on the food! We had chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits as our two entree offerings and everyone LOVED both! We liked them so much we had no problems eating them again the next day as we ordered more than what we ended up needing!

Overall great experience! We would highly recommend JThomas for your catering needs!

We selected JThomas Catering for our daughter's wedding in June, 2017. My husband and I live in Pennsylvania and our daughter lives in Savannah so much of the communication was via email. Courtney was very organized and quickly answered any questions throughout the whole planning process. There were ample items to taste in the tasting and it was difficult to select the food items since so many items were delicious! John Thomas and his competent cooks provided superb food selection at a reasonable price. We received many favorable comments from our guests. The Chicken IN waffles hors d'oeuves were excellant and many went back up to the buffet several times for the Terres Major beef which was cooked to pefection. The few children guests enjoyed the smoked gouda mac-n-cheese. In addition, the wait staff which assisted with passed hors d'oeuvres were very friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend using JThomas Catering at your wedding or other event. It is money well spent.

JThomas is without question the best caterer in Savannah. Their food is delicious! Not delicious for a wedding/catered meal...it is delicious in the 5 star restaurant kind of way!!! They bring staff to give personal service to every guest. You will not be disappointed, I promise!!!!!!

When planning our wedding, food was basically at the top of our priority list and JThomas Catering truly delivered! The guests could not stop talking about how amazing the food was! JThomas was actually the first caterer we tried and were instantly hooked. The set up of the tasting was amazing and they made sure everything was perfect. My husband even wanted to try a grit cake instead of regular grits and they made him one for the tasting. We knew right away that they were the ones to use for our special day. They really worked with us in terms of meeting every expectation we had. We selected 3 passed appetizers (fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and crab cakes) and they were amazing! Everyone came up to us during the cocktail hour to tell us how impressed they were. Then came the main dinner. We chose a buffet of fried chicken, braised beef shoulder, mac n' cheese, green beans with shallots, and a mashed potato bar with all the toppings you could want! I am still getting compliments from people about the food at the wedding. The best part was that the JThomas staff made a plate for me and my husband so we actually had time to eat while our guests got their own food. They even packaged up to-go boxes for us at the end of the night so we could eat again if we wanted. They were such an amazing team and I am so happy that we were able to have them for our wedding! Food was top priority for my fiancé while planning our wedding. Josh, Courtney and their staff went above and beyond our expectations on our wedding day and the days leading up to our big day. Our food was fabulous and they made sure everything was perfect!

Chef Josh and his team hosted our Landmark 24 Homes Realtor Appreciation Luncheon. The first moment I met Josh and his team I was blown away. After sampling several of their amazing food choices, I knew I wasn't going anywhere else. Josh was more than willing to work within our budget while still providing us with a great selection of plated choices. On the day of the event, Josh and his team first served our guest with their signature hot dinner rolls and homemade butter followed by a jaw dropping plated lunch. The presentation, food, and staff was amazing and guest all across the room were giving rave reviews. Josh and his team made our luncheon one to remember. I highly recommend Chef Josh and his fabulous team. You will be seriously impressed.

Working with Josh and Courtney for our daughter's Destination Wedding at the Morris Center (Trustees Garden) was absolutely the best experience we have had in a very long time. We wanted something different than the standard and they listened. They were so easy to work with and were able to accommodate adding things at the last minute. Those that attended are still sending us notes about how awesome the food was. The staff are all friendly and professional and we never ever worried a minute about the catering. The decision was also made in the family that they also cater the After Rehearsal Dinner (the barbeque was great). And goodness, they can make some great Mac and Cheese. From the passed appetizers to the grilled oysters and the special bar he created to serve them was the rave until they tasted the buffet dinner of Pork Tenderloin and Short Ribs. We even used their Pastry Chef for the Wedding Cake and he also was great as it was not standard either. A Crème Brulee flavored cake with caramel was created and was a hit. I could go on and on about how wonderful they were and are.
They obviously love what they do and it shows with their care in quality of the food and its presentation. Thanks again JThomas. Loved working with you for a special day. I would say that if you are planning any event, you should call JThomas and let them help make it a GREAT event.

We checked out a number of caterers before our daughter Jessica’s wedding last year prior to her wedding this year on May 21, 2016.

JThomas Catering and Events was by far the BEST caterer of them all. They are so professional, and take pride in their food, and the presentation of their food. They are willing to work with you to arrange the menu to meet your specific needs, something the other caterers do not and will not do. My wife and I were born and raised in New Orleans, so we know good food. We and our daughter wanted the food to be centered on the food of New Orleans. We are talking, Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, Muffalettas, Crawfish, Shrimp, etc… We went for a food tasting last year, and their presentation blew our socks off! Their food tasted as good, if not better than some of the great restaurants in New Orleans! They should open their own restaurant in Savannah.

The food came out fantastic at the wedding reception! We had about 140 guests at the wedding reception, and all of the guests that we talked with raved about how great the food was!

If you are planning a wedding, and need a caterer, then go no further than JThomas Catering and Events.

Josh and Courtney were amazing to work with. They catered my rehearsal dinner as well as my reception and all the food was wonderful. The presentation of the food was beautiful and it tasted even better. They made sure my husband and I were well taken care of, always asking if we needed anything and even bringing us seconds. They packed us up a to-go box, which was still so delicious at 1am =D Their staff was professional and so nice. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I am an out of town wedding planner with very high expectations. I worked with Josh and Courtney on my client's destination wedding for 170pp! They catered our rehearsal dinner at Old Fort Jackson and our wedding reception at Tybee Chapel Ballroom. The food tasted great and looked fantastic! Our guests raved. The service and professionalism was some of the best I have seen. In the pre-planning stages with Courtney, she was an absolute asset to the challenges we were faced with, professional in all our dealings and quick to respond to all the questions we had. I highly recommend this caterer to anyone getting married on Tybee Island! They will take great care of you.

J Thomas Catering far exceeded all of my expectations for our wedding day. The food was out of this world - from the passed apps to the side dishes, to the main course. In my opinion wedding food can be pretty "meh" - J Thomas was the complete opposite of expected wedding food, the dishes were memorable, fresh/local and delicious. We had so many guests come up and tell us how much they enjoyed the food. He really gets all the details - we had food stations and even the plating was pretty and detailed (vs being slopped on like you sometimes see). Do yourselves a favor and hire J Thomas!

Josh catered the wedding for my daughter this month at the GA RR museum. (not the easiest place) He was very easy to work with and satisfied their food preferences!
The passed appetizers were a crowd pleaser and the dinner was wonderful!!! We would definitely use Josh again for any type of catered meal. Thanks for helping to make their wedding a memorable event.

I don't even know where to begin. If I HAD to pick a favorite thing about our wedding it would have probably been a dead tie between my bouquet and the food. From the very beginning Josh was exactly what we were looking for. Instead of having a bunch of set menus to choose from, he created one specifically for us within our budget that we had set aside for food and around a few must haves we had in mind. People were commenting about the food the whole night. Josh also made sure the bridal party was able to enjoy the appetizers; he had plates brought out to us and even came out himself while we were getting pictures taken to make sure we were enjoying the food too. Love this guy and his whole staff. They dropped everything to help our planners flip the reception room as well. Really, an all around great caterer.

Josh created my dream menu all within my budget! Everything he makes is simply amazing! The beef short ribs and the Mac and cheese were the best I've ever had (sorry mom). I also still can't stop thinking about that delicious chicken pasta dish he served. It melts in your mouth. After the wedding I received so many calls and texts asking if Josh had a restaurant so they could get his food anytime. Everyone, including myself, thought it was the best food we ever had. Thank you so much Josh!

We hired JThomas Catering for my Salon Christmas party and it was so much better then we ever expected. Their professionalism and hospitality is impeccable. Not only was the meal the most incredible meal we have ever eaten but my kitchen was cleaner than when they got here. Amazing food and awesome service right here in the comfort of our home at a great price. Highly recommend!

After the wedding reception, every single guest told us that the food JThomas provided was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. Some even went on to say that outside of weddings it was one of the best *meals* they had ever had. JThomas Catering's true genius is that it doesn't feel or taste like a catered meal: it is a true 5-star culinary experience. At each of our stations, the chef Josh, went the extra mile: our guests were met with waffles fresh out of the iron, or the smell of shrimp boiling in low country spices, even a specially-crafted summer vegetable risotto for our vegetarian guests.

Josh took special time to craft plates for us (the bride and groom), to have servers dedicated to keeping us fed and taken care of and to send us home with a delicious box of entrees. His staff on the day of went so above and beyond and were perfectly courteous and respectful and all of our guests were completely taken care of. And as for our reception stations, JThomas took initiative and brought in props and decorations, making everything look as fabulous as it tasted.

On the practical side, JThomas is very responsive and helpful. He crafted the perfect menu for our cocktail hour and for our reception and worked with us hand-in-hand the whole way. He was incredibly easy to book and work with as a vendor. He also has dedicated cooks and servers that work with him on events, so there was no need to worry about booking help at the venue: a huge relief during the whole process of planning the wedding. Josh even accompanied us on our site visit the week before the wedding helping us finalize our floor plan and setup of all of his stations.

I actually cannot say enough about our happiness with the level of service, the quality of food and the overall experience that the entire JThomas team provided for us: they were a huge part of what made our wedding so amazing.

Josh and his team were everything we could have asked for in a caterer, we enjoyed their food so much that we had them for the welcome party as well as the wedding!

We loved that they are a family owned business that has the service level matched by none with a very professional staff.

Also their day of coordinator Ann Marie did an amazing job and we highly suggest adding her to help with your wedding. With her there was no stress on our big day!

Nothing but great things to say about J Thomas and his friendly and helpful staff. We liked how they wanted to customize what we wanted and didn't push us into a set package. They were so easy and willing to make changes and were patient with all our many questions. The food was beyond spectacular....people are still talking about the braised short ribs that just melted in your mouth. And the biscuit bar.....pure yummy awesomeness.

The food was wonderful!! We went with passed hors d'oeuvres and a buffet at our wedding reception and everything was absolutely delicious. Our guests kept telling us during and after the wedding how wonderful the food was. I was surprised at how many Instagram posts of people's plates there were! :) On top of that, Josh Thomas and his staff were really great. They were very responsive and professional prior to the wedding. They were also very attentive during the reception. The tasting was absolutely our favorite part of wedding planning. I wish I could have have another plate of those shrimp and grits with truffled mac & cheese-so good! I highly recommend them!

J. Thomas is the king of Savannah catering. We had tastings with three other local caterers and there was no competition -- J. Thomas was by far the best. Delicious food, excellent service, they did it all. Many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they've ever had. We recommend them without hesitation!

Josh and team did an amazing job on the catering for our wedding. We heard universal praise for the food and service from our guests. Creating the custom menus took some time, but it was totally worth it and landed perfectly in our price range.

Josh and his team were amazing! They personalized our menu-including using my grandmother's family meatball recipe. From the initial consult to the tasting to the wedding Josh was amazing! The food was the best food that I have had at any wedding and all my wedding guests agreed it was fabulous! Josh and Courtney are the full package and I would highly recommend them. If you are looking for 5 star quality at a reasonable price- this is the caterer for you! I hope he opens a restaurant so that we can come eat all the time! The shrimp and grits are amazing! Also the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes are fabulous!! Josh even did a cool sabrage (google it!!). Thanks for making our wedding so perfect!

Josh and his team DELIVERED! When selecting caterers for our wedding Josh's menu stood out from the rest with unique choices such as deviled quail eggs, caprese lollipops, and shrimp and grits as appetizers and the main course of low country boil and hanger steak were cooked to perfection. The presentation of the food was awesome and the service was over and above! Our guests raved about the meal! We could have not been happier. Thank you Josh and team!

We highly recommend J. Thomas Catering! We used them for both our rehearsal dinner & our wedding. We looked at several other vendors who were not willing to be as flexible. We're so glad we went with Josh. The food was AMAZING! Our friends are still talking about it. My parents have joked that they want to renew their vows just to have Josh cater it! In addition to the food quality, Josh was a pleasure to work with. He and his team are so nice and accommodating. If we lived in the area we would definitely use them again to cater other events.

We were very pleased with Josh and his staff 's services. The food was awesome and my guests are still talking about how great their reception dinner was. In fact they stated it was the best dinner during their entire stay in Savannah! Josh couldn't have been any better to work with and to help accommodate us for our dinner selection requests for our reception dinner menu. Although my wife and I never got a chance to eat, all of our guests said that the food was amazing! The low-country boil was cooked perfectly and everyone talked about the crab dip and the coleslaw. We had an outside reception and the day of the wedding the weather was cold, rainy and miserable but JT and the crew never missed a beat and things went off as planned. Josh and his team exceeded anything I could have imagined. From the first email that we had exchanged to the last plate served at my reception Josh and his team were first class vendors. The thing that sets JThomas catering apart from the rest is his passion for food and truly loves what he does. Josh has a natural ability to put things together and delivers that marks above the rest. The food was not only presented well and full of flavor but the service from his team was amazing. We have guest still asking about the food and raving about everything. One really special touch was Josh packed us to go boxes to be able to actually enjoy our food after the wedding. JThomas Catering & Events was absolutely first-rate, from the quality of food to the professionalism of their staff. I planned a destination wedding and had zero contacts in the area, but Josh and his team made my wedding experience so easy. He responded immediately to my emails and offered very helpful suggestions when needed. I chose J Thomas catering for my son's rehearsal dinner. All I had to do was to give the theme of the event and they handled all the other details for me. My future daughter in law is from Michigan and her relatives wanted to experience the true southern low country boil. It was wonderful. The food was excellent and with all the extra touches they added, the entire night was picture perfect. I highly recommend JThomas Catering! They catered my engagement party and rehearsal dinner. The engagement party was an oyster roast; JThomas made sure there was always plenty hot oysters on the table. We had Low Country boil for the rehearsal dinner and both parties turned out perfectly! I had complete confidence in JThomas catering from the start. My wife and I had the opportunity to try different dishes and see which were suitable for the evening. Our wedding would not have been complete without JThomas Catering and Events. We were able to customize our menu with 100% satisfaction. The reception started off with a few hor d'oeuvres such as prosciutto wrapped melon, fresh fruit and cheese trays, and a charcuterie board. We wanted to have heavy hor d'oeuvres so that our guests could eat and mingle. The braised short ribs were cooked to perfection. The mashed potato bar and grilled vegetables made the best sides. The shrimp and grits with a homemade tasso gravy were phenomenal! Our guests were extremely pleased and could not stop talking about how exquisite the food was. To finish the night off, we served mouth watering "late night chicken biscuits" as our guests sent us off. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The plates were removed from the tables in a timely manner. Josh and Courtney will work with you in a way to make sure you get exactly what you want within your budget. You can only expect the best if you chose JThomas Catering for your next event!

JThomas catering catered my rehearsal dinner & my wedding reception & I must say the food was the talk of both parties. Low country boil for the rehearsal dinner that was so fresh & delicious with not a shrimp or crawfish left. My wedding was everything I could have wished for & once again the food was the star with nothing left by the end of service. Their staff was very attentive & always kept my guest happy. I worked with JThomas Catering as an event planner for a wedding catered by Josh and his team. From beginning to end, Josh was attentive to the requests and needs of the bride. He was quick to respond to changes in the menu and was always available to make suggestions and recommendations based on the style of the reception.

On the day of the event, I couldn't have asked for a better staff on hand for the event - everyone arrived early, was prepped and ready to go even before I asked, and the food was exceptional! Josh really went above and beyond my expectations on both the food and his service. I will certainly recommend JThomas Catering & Events to my future brides and clients!

We are very happy that we went with JThomas to cater our wedding reception! The food was great and Chef Josh went above and beyond my expectations! We only had one time available to do a tasting and since his kitchen was unavailable at that time he had us over to his house to cook for us! I cannot say enough nice things about Chef Joshua and his staff. They were so professional and the service was outstanding. My meal was delicious, I could have eaten more if there was anything left to eat. Everyone enjoyed it and we all loved his take on southern food with an upscale twist, which was beautifully presented! A FOOD EXPERIENCE for your wedding guests!

Where are my foodie brides and grooms? Unimpressed and bored with that same old, standard “wedding food” story? Want an A-list caterer on your vendor team? JThomas Catering & Events will elevate the food game, impress your guests, and absolutely needs to be the next vendor you book! Our recent backyard wedding reception included a southern, low-country themed variety of “pick-ups” and passed foods for guests to enjoy as they mingled. The menu JThomas created for us was both aesthetically beautiful and truly a taste sensation! Each food item was presented wonderfully and the catering staff was top-notch. Think pimento toast with bacon jam, picked shrimp skewers, figs stuffed with Boursin, etc. Cannot recommend Courtney and Josh enough! You must visit their restaurant, JThomas Kitchen on Hwy 80 as well. Relaxed atmosphere, but impressive cuisine. Don’t miss the dessert case either! In the way of food, this is the best decision you’ll make, hands down! Our guests are still raving about it!

Delicious food which our guests raved about!

We catered with J Thomas for my daughters wedding over Labor day weekend. The food was amazing. Every guest raved. The short ribs melted in your mouth and the grouper was delicious. The appetizers were a huge hit too, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and crab cakes- yum just thinking about it makes me hungry. We ended the night with my favorite chicken and waffles. If you haven’t tried their version, you need to. They do it very different and it’s out of this world.
We had quite a few folks with food allergies including the bride. Courtney and Josh did an amazing job with being sure all food was safe and served correctly. The servers were polite and everything ran smooth. We were also very pleased with how well Courtney worked with our planner, Emily, at Sincerely Yours. Thank you to an amazing chef and team.

Delectable

JThomas was so easy to work with from a distance. My fiancé and I already had an idea of a menu for our wedding and we were able to finalize it over a mouthwatering taste testing. Guests raved over the Chicken and Waffle passed appetizer as well as the Bourbon Pecan Tarts. Courtney and Josh were a pleasure to work with and extremely accommodating of any dietary restrictions.

Southern cuisine with an upscale twist

From the moment we arrived to our tasting at JThomas' catering kitchen - we were immediately impressed! They have a tasting fee of $50 per person (non-refundable or transferrable to your potential booking) but oh boy was it worth it! We felt like judges on Top Chef. Before our arrival, we sent preferences of appetizers, main dishes and desserts that interested us. They cooked everything to order in front of us and described each dish. We walked out of door (very full), looked at each other and immediately knew that we found our caterer!

We booked a year in advance. Throughout the planning process, I had the pleasure of working with Courtney on menu specifics and she answered my many emails and questions. A couple months prior we did one last visit to Savannah to tie up any loose ends and I met with her and Josh to finalize everything. When we had our tasting, the cut of beef in the dish we chose was on the higher end. For some reason that wasn't communicated correctly and didn't match the price that we were paying. They went out of their way to make sure we had the higher end cut of beef at no additional cost.

They also provided infused water and lemonade for our arrival ceremony beverages.

We informed them of all of our guests who had special dietary needs prior to the day. They had special meals for them that we not your standard salad or basic meal. Our family and friends were very impressed with what they had.

One of the most impressive things and what I appreciate most was the plates of appetizers that Courtney made sure we had during the 'happy hour'. She also went out of her way to make sure we had food to take back with us after the night was over.

All in all, I have zero regrets booking JThomas as our caterer and I highly recommend them if you are getting married in the Savannah area.

You can either have run of the mill, standard wedding food, or you can elevate your guests experience with exceptional food! JThomas is excellence in every sense of the word with their presentation, execution and service. When we went to our tasting, we knew almost immediately from the first taste, and by the last we wanted it to never end. Our food was beyond a hit at the wedding, people are still talking to us about how great it was. JThomas and his team took the time to listen to who we were as people, our palettes, and really treated us as friends. They even did our cake, and took on a new challenge in a new design without any hesitation. I could go on and on, but honestly do a tasting and you’ll know immediately what we mean. Be prepared that because of their insane popularity, and that their inbox is probably blowing up all the time, they may take a little while to get back to you.

The dinner for my Daughter's wedding reception was outstanding. The servers were pleasant and courteous, the presentation was first rate, and the food was delicious. All of the offerings at our tasting were wonderful, and they helped us choose the perfect selections.
