Professional and Responsive

I would highly recommend Jose for your next event. Jose did a great job on my wedding day. He showed up on time, and stayed later than the planned time. He was very responsive to emails and questions. He suggested a great place for my wedding photo shoot, considering that it was a rainy day. The wedding pictures turned out very nice. Thanks to Jose for the great job he did.

Kind, courteous, great eye for photography, and very easy to talk to!

I would highly recommend Joys of Life Photography to anyone looking to get pictures done for a special occasion. We had our wedding photos done by Mr. Salame and he was wonderful to work with! It made our day less stressful and the photos turned out amazing!

Hot summer wedding!

I can’t recommend Joys of Life photography enough!! José was an incredible photographer. He was very kind and made sure we were able to get SO many beautiful shots. He was extremely flexible as we had to change our dates for our first look photo shoot a few times, and was always positive.

Our wedding day happened to be on one of the hottest days in Portland history (about 108 degrees). Despite the heat, José was very professional and was able to capture quality, diverse shots.

Afterwards he provided a link to our online gallery we could download our pictures or where we could order prints or canvased portraits. We ordered several canvases and a lot of prints. They were of the highest quality—sharp in clarity with vibrant colors.

Use Joys of Life! You went regret it.

Fantastic Quality at a fantastic price!

Accommodated to all of our needs, friendly professional, and fantastic photo quality. Both Jose and his son were easy to work with and genuinely good guys. Definitely hope to take advantage of their services again at a later date!

Absolutely AMAZING!!!

Jose and his son did extremely well with our small, mid-pandemic wedding! Not only did they produce many stunning photos, but they were so kind and easy to work with even through all the craziness and changes of plans! They had ideas for photos that we wouldn't have even thought of and completely adore. We are beyond pleased with how everything turned out and would highly recommend them without a doubt to any other couple looking for a quality photographer!

Jose did an amazing job capturing every wonderful moment. He was open to anything we wanted to do and was flexible throughout al of our special day. We were so happy with all our photos from the wedding. He has previously done two our our relatives weddings who recommended him to us, and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone to capture their special day.

Jose was a phenomenal photographer. He is extremely organized and works beforehand to learn all the people you want to take a picture with during your wedding as well as certain shots you'd like to get. He also went above and beyond to take pictures on the rooftop even though it was rainy and cold. His pictures were phenomenal and he will help us remember our special night forever.

This review is long over due. I cannot recommend anyone higher than Joys of Life Photography. Jose did an amazing job with our engagement and wedding photos! He captured beautiful moments and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the level of service he provided! Jose is very personable, fun and easy to work with. His passion for photography truly shows in his work. We absolutely love our pictures! Jose did a excellent job! From booking him as my photographer, to the day of the wedding, to getting the pictures back, Jose was great! He really captured the joy of the day. My husband and I met Jose after going through many other photographers’ portfolios of weddings in the Portland area. Knowing that most websites only show the very best pictures, we were very critical about every photograph we saw because we wanted to get the best pictures in our budget. We were amazed by Jose’s work! His pictures really jumped out at us instantly! He was such a pleasure to work with and very quick to respond to any questions we had prior to the date. We were very lucky to book a date with him with very little notice. We met with him a few times prior to our wedding to confirm details and expectations. He had some great suggestions for poses and helped setup a staged first look with my father; something we never would have thought of. We received so many beautiful pictures! Some even bought me to tears. When our photo booth cameras both died, he was happy to let us borrow one of his extras. You could tell he is very passionate about his work because it shows in the pictures. He captured all the little details of our wedding. He prices are reasonable and very budget friendly. We could not have asked for a better photographer. Jose went way beyond my expectations and I could not thank him enough for his excellent work and patience with us through the stressful process.

Joys of Life Photography was wonderful! The photographers are both creative and extremely professional! Jose and Jennifer make a great team and they both had amazing ideas for photos even when I wasn't sure what I wanted. They made my bridal party and I feel extremely comfortable during photos and I know the photos will turn out beautiful! We met Jose when he was taking photos of another event and asked if he did wedding photos. Finding out that he did, we made an appointment to meet him and find out if he met our needs and budget.
Talking with him over a cup of coffee, he had as many questions for us as we did for him. This was very refreshing as Jose likes to know the personalities of the couple and know who he's working with so he can get the best photos.
Shooting an engagement session with Jose helped develop a working relationship between us. It was like an old friend was taking the photos. Jose is great at putting people at ease and keeping a natural look in his photos. While he has a lot of suggestions for poses, he was also very open to our ideas.
While cultivating a friendly relationship he is also very professional. He knows his job and is good at getting it done.
We are very pleased with our photos and will use Jose again if we have the need.

Jose and his daughter were fabulous and so professional. My husband and I met with Jose before our wedding and talked details, he had many questions for us, as well as suggestions from personal experience. His knowledge of his profession and his friendly manner put us at ease. We met his daughter at the venue the day of the wedding and she was just as friendly and professional as Jose. Through out the entire day they instructed us on poses and different pictures that needed to be done, as well as shot many candids and pictures of details that I never would have seen without them. I just received my pictures and they are beautiful. My husband and I were also on a budget and they are well priced and affordable. They were an absolute joy to work with and I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Jose and his wife were amazing!!! After reading all the fabulous reviews on this site, I decided to meet with Jose, and I am so glad I selected him! His prices are very fair, and he is wonderful to work with. We got married last month and he and his wife helped make the day much less stressful. I'm very glad that I decided to pay for the second photographer (his wife, and she's fabulous), as it was so nice to be able to get shots of getting ready for both the guys and gals, and she provided another perspective on the wedding. I got my pictures back last night, and couldn't be happier. Jose and Annette truly captured the emotion and excitement of the day. Their focus on the details made for beautiful pictures. You can't go wrong with Joys of Life!

Joys of Life Photography provided excellent service at a very reasonable price. The photography was done so efficiently so as not to drag on and make the experience unpleasant. Jose was a pleasure to work with he captured our wedding exactly how we wanted it and we have gorgeous pictures to remember our special day. Not only was his photography the best we saw, he was also the most reasonably priced and he offered the most pictures we ended up with around 500 whereas most photographers were only quoting us around 150 to 200 pictures for a five hour wedding. We will definitely reccommend joys of life to anyone and wil also use him for future famiy portraits.

Jose was great. We found his advertisement online and he was very responsive to our inquiry. We met and discussed the wedding and the photographs we were looking for, and he described that his policy is to focus on what the couple wants, not on his own ideas of what wedding photos "should" be. He arrived early at the location to get to know it since he had not photographed a wedding at that location before. The photos came out great and he sent them to us timely. His price was more than reasonable and I would recommend him to friends getting married in the future.

I knew from the minute I met Jose that I chose the right photographer. I originally chose him for his affordable prices. His work and expertise measured way beyond my expectations. He captured awesome moments during our wedding and reception. He created fun, interesting and dramatic images that are most impressive. Jose is amazing! We absolutely LOVE both our engagement and our wedding photos! Jose makes it easy to take natural photos- his calm, friendly demeanor put me at ease and made me feel confident in him. He was very responsive to our needs- going our of his way to meet with me about the "must-have" picture list and quickly responding to all our emails. He was very professional and I got compliments about him and his daughter from many of my guests. Joys of Life Photography is very affordable and a great value. I found Jose - the owner of Joys of Life Photography - on Craigslist of all places. This was because I was looking for a photographer on a budget.... and I could not recommend a better value or more capable and comforting photographer. Jose fit in so well with our family and setting, it was only the camera around his neck made it apparent he was the photographer! I even had a few of my cousins ask who he was, thinking he was a very friendly family member!

I haven't seen the final product yet, as the wedding was only two days ago, but the service and poses he suggested were excellent. He had me create a list of poses before the wedding to make sure we got all the poses we wanted, and he came up with ideas as he went. He was also just genuinely friendly and easy to work with. When my groom and his groomsment decided to get silly (hanging on to the door frame to make it look like he was bolting), Jose went right along with it, laughing, clicking, and encouraging. My bridesmaids and I were asked to "give him attitude" and so we got some downright silly shots along with our polished poses - all due to Jose's laidback and creative attitude.

His value is also beyond compare. He has photo packages starting at $300.... yes, $300, which includes some printing costs. Unheard of for any wedding photographer I could find in my searches.

If you get half the quality I did from Jose, you will be a very lucky bride. I highly recommend him to anyone as a wedding photographer.

What a blessing it was to find Joys of Life/Jose. He has a terrific eye and captured the day beautifully. As a wedding coordinator, I have referred couples to him to use his services for their wedding. I would not put my reputation on the line if I didn't believe his work is outstanding. We are so happy he was there to provide us fabulous memories of Andrea's wedding through his photos!

Jose and his daughter were wonderful to work with. They provide the best deal around BY FAR and take some of the best pictures around. We scoured around looking for cheap photographers because we were on a budget and most of them were more than a grand and their pictures seemed too photoshopped. Jose is a real photographer capturing real moments. He is unobtrusive and super nice. His daughter helps him with taking pre ceremony pictures of the girls while they are getting ready so he can handle the guys and it works great. She also captures the side shots and many of them were some of the best pictures. We had not met her until the wedding and she was professional, kind, and courteous. Our wedding would not have been the same without them. Jose was easy to get a hold of by email and phone, and his package pricing is unbeatable. We are so glad we chose Jose!

Excellent service! Very professional - Jose brought his photographer daughter and between the two of them we had well over 1,000 beautiful pictures. They did every shot we asked- plus they had terrific ideas too. Jose is very good natured and patient- perfect for a wedding photographer. Plus, I soooo love the fact that Jose gives you a free CD of your pictures so you don't HAVE to buy extra pictures from him. We still did because we wanted the high quality developing- which really does make a difference in the portrait. But we only spent about $200 on very fine photos for the wall. Jose was very reasonably priced, which we so appreciated since wedding's are so expensive. It was such a relief. His camera is very high quality. We will hire Joys of Life Photography again and again to do our special portraits.

Joys of Life Photography was always very quick to respond to my emails and gave me all the information I could have needed. They took absolutely gorgeous photos before, after, and during the wedding. Jose Salame was very professional and willing to be flexible with my husband's and my schedules. He was helpful in walking us through what we needed to know about what to expect from a photographer and was overall very honest with us about everything which we really appreciated. On our wedding day his daughter was the one photographing myself and my bridesmaids while we got ready and she was amazing the entire wedding day. No matter what I needed, whether it was getting a glass of water or carrying a message to the wedding planner, when no one else was around, she was more than willing to help out. I would recommend Joys of Life to anyone. They are a great value without the outrageous price tag :).

I feel so lucky to have found Joys of Life Photography. They literally captured every second of our wedding! I am very picky and was very specific as to what I was looking for in our photos, and he delivered above and beyond my expectations. Joys of life photography was SO easy to work with. Jose had ideas for poses but never forced any ideas and kept it going smoothly. The artistic quality with the cropping and backgrounds was beautiful, pricing was very reasonable and the finished cd disc and personalized case was gorgeous. I couldnt be happier with the photography service provided and would highly recommend to anyone!

Jose was very flexible, patient and helpful on our wedding day. We were able to veiw our pictures online days after our wedding. The pictures came out great! We are so glad we hired joys of life!
