The absolute best venue for a wedding. The staff was so wonderful to work with from day 1, and so gracious on the day of our event. They offer so many options to personalize your day and make it special, and are extremely accommodating. The food was delicious, the space is beautiful, and the day-of event staff was so kind and helpful! This will always be a special place for us! Would highly recommend Journeyman Distillery if you are looking for a wedding venue! -

Johanna and her team exceeded our expectations! First, the venue is gorgeous, the food was amazing, the drinks stellar, the staff was fantastic (shout out to Jason our bar tender) and Johanna was so gracious answering my million questions throughout the year. We did have a hiccup with the bridal suite being double booked the day of the wedding (things happen) but Johanna made it right, immediately, by offering the farmhouse for my girls and I to get ready in, and refunding the bridal suite fee. The farmhouse ended up being perfect for my girls and I to get ready in. I 100% appreciate Johanna and how hard her team worked to make our wedding day special. I would 100% recommend Journeyman. Also special thanks for hanging out with my dad while he waited for me to get there. We look forward to may more drinks and dinners in the future at Journeyman - Denise and Josh Lowmaster -

More than we imagined
I cannot say enough about Journeyman Distillery venue and their wedding team. The venue was wonderful to work with and the staff made sure that our day was flawless. From touring Warren Hall and setting our date to finalizing our timeline and then seeing it all come to life was a dream come true. Not a detail was missed and the team made truly made it a day we never forget. We also highly suggest choosing a Journeyman preferred vendor. Especially Blackbird and Rye Photography, Jelliefish Productions, Sugarfield Flowers, Something Blue Stylist, and Black Currant House Bakery. Hands down the the PERFECT team and BEST day of our lives! -

Beautiful Venue
We had our October wedding here and WOW this place was more than my dreams could of imagined. Our wedding photographer recommended this place to us 2 years ago and upon touring we immediately fell in love. It has a very rustic, romantic vibe. The food was great the staff was helpful and we had an amazing night. We have gotten so many compliments about how fun and beautiful our wedding was. This venue is fantastic! We were married here this past March and had an amazing experience. The venue is beautiful, charming, and the food and drinks cannot be praised enough. We still have guests reaching out about the high quality. Everyone at Journeyman went above and beyond to make sure everything about our day went off perfectly, and we cannot thank them enough. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a wedding venue. -

We had our wedding at Journeyman this summer; ceremony at the Silo and reception in the Still room for 80 guests. It was the perfect venue for us, and the day went off without a hitch. The Still room is the smallest of their venues, but to us it was the only choice being so close to the patio and putting green. Our guests had plenty to do inside and out and loved being able to put on the greens while taking a break from dancing. The food was delicious (chicken, pork asso buco & salmon)– way above our expectations! We even got to include our beloved dog in our ceremony outdoors at the Silo and are thankful Journeyman allowed him to be a part of our day as well. Thanks Joanne and team for a great day! -

THE BEST VENUE EVER. My husband and I had been together for 14 years before we finally decided to get hitched. We knew years ago where we wanted to get married because we had been drinking their bourbon for years. There was no place besides Journeyman to do it. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Still Room and our wedding in Warren Hall. We heard from dozens of guests that is was by far, the most amazing they had ever been to. From the venue, to the support staff, to the bar staff, BOH, chefs and everyone in-between, our wedding was 100% successful. They communicated with us so well through every step of the way and went above and beyond to help accommodate some unique requests (one of which was allowing us to reassemble the 8foot arbor we built for the wedding). Jasmine was such a treat to work with and she really helped us feel comfortable and confident in the day. She worked with our day of planner and the two of them made the entire day go off without any hitches. The steak was PHENOMENAL and was cooked to literal perfection (I'm a professional chef, so I can say that with confidence). Our head bartended Rick was the bees knees. He found out our favorite cocktail from down in the restaurant and made sure we had one at our seats when we came in to the reception. Paige from behind the bad was adorable and gave amazing customer service to all of our guests for both of our events. I do not think I could say a single negative thing about our experience leading up to the wedding or the actual wedding. I'm grateful to have had such a wonderful experience and encourage anyone who is looking for a fun, unique, jaw dropping venue, to look no further. Journeyman is the place to be. -

One of a kind Wedding venue.
My wife and I just got married at Journeyman last weekend and it was absolutely incredible. We had our ceremony and reception in Warren Hall and both were amazing. Absolute Perfection!
My son's wedding was last Sunday at Journeyman in Warren Hall. Rachael, the event manager, made sure everything was perfect. The ambiance, the delicious food, the amazing mixed drinks and the wonderful staff made for an absolutely perfect wedding from start to finish. Would recommend to everyone!! -

Beyond my expectations!
I don’t even know where to begin on how amazing our wedding was at Journeyman! Rachael and her team went above and beyond to make sure our day was absolutely perfect! They hit every mark from getting us all down the aisle, to cocktail hour to the dinner and dancing. Not a single plate was left empty, the food was OUTSTANDING! All of our guests couldn’t have had a better time and said it was the perfect place for a combo ceremony and reception! I would do it all over again no question. Book Journeyman ASAP
The first time we stepped into Journeyman, we knew it was special. Every staff member we've interacted with from start to finish have been helpful and accommodating. We had the pleasure of working very closely with Dan Breen, Journeyman's Event Manager, while planning our wedding. Dan went above and beyond in every possible way. He responded quickly to every call and gave us the wedding of our dreams. For that, we will be forever grateful. Our guests were blown away by the space and the cocktails and THE FOOD! The Journeyman Experience
The Journeyman knows how to throw a party. We had the complete Journeyman experience for our Nov. 30 wedding. We stayed in The Flat, a spacious loft next door to the venue that accommodated both of our families. We had our wedding ceremony in Warren Hall. The cocktail hour took place in The Grainery. Our guests returned to Warren Hall for the reception. The space is stunning - the perfect rustic setting for our event. Lindsay, Torie and Dan were always available to answer our questions. We found most of our vendors at the Journeyman's Weddings and Whiskey event, removing a lot of the stressful decisions that accompany the wedding planning process. We are so glad we chose the Journeyman for our wedding, and would do it all over again if we could. -

The best!
My husband and I looked at multiple wedding venues in SW Michigan including the well known barns. Although they were beautiful NOTHING compares to Journeyman. The couple that owns Jman are the most amazing people and their story drew us in. From there it was only uphill with everything from Dan, our wedding coordinator, to the chef and the rest of the team. We go back frequently and it will always have a special place in our heart. -

I knew I wanted to get married at Journeyman 9 months into my relationship with my now husband so when he proposed, we immediately called and secured our date 16 months out. During this time there were some staffing changes in the event department, but that never stopped them (Lindsey and Dan in particular) from making sure that all my questions were answered in a timely manner. When Torie eventually joined the team, she was a seamless transition from my point of view and was really on top of everything we needed. I truly think I exchanged hundreds of e-mails with this team, given that we live in Chicago and didn't get a lot of facetime with them. Torie ended up accommodating my request for an in-person walk through on a Sunday where she spent two hours with me and my crew going through every little logistical detail we could throw at her.
The rehearsal and day of the wedding went so so perfectly. When we couldn't rehearse in our room because of a wedding in there, they accommodated us in another space. There was another wedding going on that night at the venue and you would have never known it, as they managed to keep everything completely organized and separate. From bringing us water and coffee in the morning in the bridal suite, to helping us get into the still area for pictures, to accommodating MULTIPLE different food allergies/requests for some of our guests, Torie and Dan and the team knocked it out of the park. My normally very reserved husband even hugged Dan at the end of the night because he was so grateful for everything they did. Our guests were wowed by the venue and the food and drinks were all delicious. We loved our experience at Journeyman and look forward to going back for many visits in the future! -

My wife and I had our wedding of over 200 guests at Journeyman in early November. We cannot speak positively enough of our experience. The event spaces on the second floor are beautiful. Very little is needed to dress up the room. Our guests were comfortable throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner/dancing. The staff the whole day during preparation and during our events were nothing short of amazing. We received multiple positive comments from our guests on the food and service. We would both absolutely recommend Journeyman for a large party to anyone. -

Great venue because of its size, amenities, modern rustic look, small town charm, and it is beautiful inside and out. Journeyman was easy to work with since they do most of the leg work. They had great recommendations for busses, hotels, DJ's, etc. The in house catering was so good that it was hard to select our menu...good problems. The liquor is top notch, insuring the guests have the party of their lives. -

Journeyman lended us everything we could have wanted in a wedding day. Beautiful venue and planners/a tream that treated us like family and went above and beyond to make our wedding day seemless. They were accommodating during the planning process and responsive despite having multiple postponed weddings to juggle. They worked with our planner well, the day went smoothly down to the minute, and numerous guests talked about how amazing the food was and the bar was out of this world. Nothing about our 2020 wedding went smoothly down to postponing to 2021 but Journeyman's team made the entire wait worth it. Thank you to them all for making our wedding truly a once in a lifetime affair. -

Journeyman was the perfect wedding venue for us! The food, the alcohol and over vibe was exactly what we wanted. The natural light the venue gets is fabulous. There were so many cool spots to take pictures. I highly recommend Warren Hall for a wedding! -

Excellent! Highly recommended!
We held our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in the Warren Room at Journeyman Distillery on September 14th, 2019. Their attention to detail was wonderful and we felt really good knowing that they had tons of experience with weddings so we didn't have to plan out every little thing. They thought of things, like a curtain before the bride walked out and late night snacks for the guests that never crossed our minds and we're very grateful for that. All of our guests thought the space was beautiful. We didn't decorate the room at all, just the tables because it was just what we wanted the way it was. The bar tending was very efficient and there was never a long line for drinks. We also rented the Green Room for preparations and that was really helpful. The staff was attentive and really friendly for the entirety of our time there, circling to tidy and clean any spills. They also offered several barrels for decoration and we ended up using one ass our alter space and for our cake cutting as well as places for people to set drinks. We also ordered one of their traveling barrels for our guests to sign as our guest book and for our one year anniversary we'll have our very own wedding whiskey as well as the barrel to decorate our home. We are so glad we chose Journeyman Distillery and highly recommend them. -

Freyja Sent on 10/01/2017Unfortunately when we first saw and signed with them they were in the middle of some big changes and it caused a few contract issues. They gad some staff changes but did the best they could to keep it moving forward.
In the end, we had the most amazing wedding. Lindsay ultimately took care of us and did a fantastic job. The event staff were great and every guest had the time of their lives. This venue was so perfect for us...truly magical space and we highly recommend them. -

As the month-of wedding coordinator for a couple getting married at The Journeyman this summer, I found myself needing to advocate for my clients more than ever. Unfortunately, the experience was met with challenges that detracted from what should have been a joyful occasion.
From the start, the venue's last-minute changes created significant hurdles. Despite the couple's investment in a rental fee, bar package, and dinner package, there was a push to charge for the bridal suite, which would have remained locked and unused during the reception. This was particularly disappointing, given that they were initially sold on the beautiful Journeyman in Three Oaks, Michigan. The Valparaiso location did not live up to those expectations, and the couple faced several restrictions that were not communicated prior to signing the contract.
Some of the issues included limitations on floral arrangements, the absence of chandeliers (available only in Three Oaks), and restrictions regarding external food service refrigeration. These factors made coordinating with external vendors quite challenging. Just four months before the wedding, the couple was informed they would need to spend additional money on chairs for the ceremony—something that should have been addressed earlier in the planning process.
Moreover, changes to the rehearsal dinner due to staffing issues led to broken promises. Instead of feeling like an all-inclusive wedding venue, The Journeyman began to feel like it was nickel-and-diming every aspect of the event. Compounding these issues, we were informed just weeks before the wedding that guests might need to pay for parking due to the Popcorn Festival occurring the same weekend, despite this being known at the time of signing. To add to the frustration, the couple was charged for extra tables during the cocktail hour—an item that should have been offered free of charge, especially considering their significant expenditures.
On the day of the wedding, while the couple had a wonderful experience—and has beautiful photos to showcase just that—there were a few significant hiccups. While the food and beverage was great and lived up to their expectations from the tasting, they were informed that some guests reported moldy bread at their tables, and a few did not receive salads at all. Additionally, dinner service started 20 minutes late, which pushed our timeline back and resulted in extra overtime charges for some of the contracted vendors.
To top it off, a staff member boxed up the couple’s cupcakes for them to take home, but they never received them. Several guests who asked to take cupcakes at the end of the night were also denied by staff. At the end of the day, that is money out of my client's pockets that they don't get back
While the couple ultimately had a good experience on their wedding day, these points have stuck with us throughout all steps of the process. I believe it’s essential to highlight these concerns to ensure future couples do not face similar challenges. -

✨11/11 Wishful Wedding✨
The venue is absolutely gorgeous! And not just cuz I’m biased but it was the best wedding food I’ve ever had! Our day was absolutely magical and I wish I could relive it again. The food and bar staff on our wedding day were 10/10 outstanding! They were all quick working and super friendly.
My husband and I felt the event planner and communication aspect could have been better. We were tossed around to different event planners initially and finally had one “assigned” to us, Corrine, who was rather difficult to communicate with. Sometimes emails went unanswered for weeks and we didn’t have a direct phone number to reach her. There were things that went unannounced like, filet mignon was an extra $5/plate but that’s not in the brochure or mentioned until we get our food counts back. Also, we were never told about a kids menu so we assumed kids eat a smaller portion of the main entrees. Again, after we got our food selections from our guests we were told about this kids menu and had to let our guests know of the change. Overall, we felt ignored and like a burden rather than a welcomed guest. It’s the first time my husband and I experienced planning a wedding and were looking for more guidance from the Corrine but we mostly navigated the entire process ourself. I asked several times to meet in person or at least via zoom so we could meet face-to-face, which never happened. I never even met her until our reception around 9pm when she finally came to introduce herself to me. I found that odd on the day of our wedding, meeting the person that was supposed to help us during the months of planning before hand. Just not very personable. As a bride, you hope to have someone with knowledge and experience to handhold you through the entire process. She also told us we could set up the night before and while setting up, a woman working downstairs sternly walked up to me asking who we are and why we were there. Apparently the venue didn’t know we got permission to set up. I was told there would be people directing guests on the day of the wedding since our ceremony was downstairs but our reception was upstairs, with another wedding happening at the same time as ours. Before the ceremony I was hiding upstairs in our reception area and guests were coming in by me saying they didn’t know where to go and the sign downstairs pointed upstairs guiding them to our wedding. I had to ask my sister in law to go investigate this sign situation since we didn’t have our event planner around to assist. The other wedding that was supposed to happen the same day apparently canceled and we were not made aware of this or even offered the bridal suite to use. The other bride had claimed it before me but then wasn’t there anyway. These are just some highlights of our experience. I definitely recommend this venue for the beauty, amazing food, and the attentive food and bar service staff but be prepared to navigate this process alone and feel like a burden planning the most important day of your life. -

So Disappointed
So disappointed. I fell in love with Journeyman's Warren Hall and we booked them for our Dec 5th 2020 wedding of 130+ people. They barely had any dates available so I nabbed this Saturday date over a year in advance. They don't have the highest quality food or cocktails but I loved that it was all just one vendor to deal with and a beautiful space. COVID hit and everything changed. We suspected that it would not be safe to host our event as planned indoors this winter but were told that we could not postpone until 2 months out. We tried discussing postponement options but Journeyman was very inflexible. After many back and forth discussions, they provided two new proposals but said we could not make any adjustments even though the room rental fees and food/bev package had increased in price. Given their lack of sympathy, failure to reach out to me (I always had to track them down), inflexibility, and the fact that they no longer are capable of hosting my event as planned per the latest COVID mandate, I have canceled my wedding. Despite several requests, Journeyman absolutely refused to return any of our deposit or even split the cost with us. It's been such a loss emotionally and financially for us but clearly Journeyman does not care. I hope other couples can avoid my mistake! -
